ALL GAUGES ON THE CAR STOPPED WORKING 4 YEARS AGO AROUND THE TIME THE PASS LOCK HAD TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE BEEN LOCKED OUT OF MY CAR MANY TIMES. THE VALVE COVER LEAKS OIL WHICH MIGHT RESULT IN A FIRE. DRIVING IT RESULTS IN THICK BLACK SMOKE COMING FROM THE VALVE COVER LEAK.
WHILE DRIVING ON A SMOOTH DARK COUNTRY ROAD AT A SPEED OF 50 MPH TIME 10:35PM I HAD ACTIVATED THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS AND APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS LATER THE HEADLAMPS WENT OFF LEAVING ONLY THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ON. VISIBILITY WAS INSTANTLY DECREASED TO AN UNSAFE LEVEL WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. I HAD IMMEDIATELY REACTIVATED THE LOW BEAMS WITH THE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH AND THE HEADLAMPS (LOW BEAM) RESUMED OPERATION. PRIOR TO THIS FAILURE THE HIGH BEAM HEADLAMPS WERE NOT IN OPERATION FOR ANY LONG PERIODS OF TIME. THIS TYPE OF FAILURE WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING COULD LEAD TO THE PROBABILITY OF AN ACCIDENT. THIS ELECTRICAL HEADLAMP PROBLEM SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS A VEHICLE SAFETY RECALL. I HAVE CHECKED ON-LINE RESOURCES ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME OR SIMILAR ISSUES WITH CHEVROLET IMPALAS FROM THE 2000-2005 MODEL YEARS.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
SPEEDOMETER WILL NOT WORK. GETS STRUCK AND WILL RETURN TO NORMAL IF BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED OR IF CAR IS SHUT OFF SEVERAL TIMES IN SUCCESSION.
2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE STOPS AND STEERING LOCKS UP WHILE DRIVING. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE AT A STOP SIGN. THE MANIFOLD GASKET, THERMOSTAT, ABS MODULE AND IGNITION WERE REPLACED OVER A PERIOD OF EIGHT YEARS. *JB
THE GAS GAUGE, THE SPEED GAUGE AND THE GAUGE FOR THE HEATING AND WATER COOLING HAS MALFUNCTIONED. IT ALSO JUST STALLS CAUSING THE CAR TO STOP.
MY IMPALA KEEPS STALLING!!! WHILE DRIVING IT, AND DOESN'T MATTER IF I'M GOING 30 OR 55, JUST STALLS, ITS A DEATH TRAP, BUT THAT'S ALL WE HAVE TO DRIVE, AND I HAVE TO HAUL A DISABLED PERSON!!! AM SCARED, HAVE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY REPLACING PARTS THAT IT COULD "POTENTIALLY" BE! AT A LOSS, PLEASE HELP!!! *TR
SECURITY LIGHT ON, WILL NOT START. WHILE DRIVING SECURITY LIGHT COMES ON ALL THE TIME. IF IT STARTS FLASHING WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WILL NOT START WHEN CYCLED AGAIN. YOU HAVE TO WAIT ALMOST 3HRS BEFORE IT WILL START AGAIN. WE ARE REPLACING THE IGNITION SWITCH TO SEE IF THAT HELPS.
FUEL, TACHOMETER, SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER FAILED / NO LONGER WORKING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED LEFT OR RIGHT, IT MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHEN THE IGNITION KEY WAS TURNED TO THE ON POSITION, A BURNING ODOR EMITTED INSIDE THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V400000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
BOUGHT THE CAR USED 141,000 MILES DAY AFTER I BOUGHT IT THE TRANSMISSION JERKS REALLY HARD WHEN TAKING OFF. I HEARD IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT IT WILL COST $700 OR MORE TO FIX.
HAD TO RECENTLY REPLACE FUEL EJECTION AND OTHER PART FOR FUEL LEAKING AND FUMES OVERCOMING IN CAR. NOW THE SPEEDOMETER, FUEL AND TACK GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. GM HAS NOT RECALLED THIS ON THE IMPALA AND THEY ARE AWARE THIS IS A PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD FOR MY DAUGHTER AND CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR. EVERY CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND PARTS STORES THINK THERE IS A RECALL UNTIL THEY LOOK IT UP. THATS HOW MUCH THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUES. ONCE AGAIN ILL HAVE TO PAY APPROX. 300.00 JUST FOR THE PART. DORMAN OE SOLUTIONS INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. HOW CAN WE STOP GM FROM GETTING AWAY WITH THIS! WE NEED HELP!
THE HI BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED, WHICH MADE THE LO BEAM HEADLIGHTS GO OUT WHEN THE HI BEAM WAS ENGAGED. REPAIR SERVICE FOUND A CORRODED "PIN" IN A MULTI-PIN ELECTRICAL CONNECTION.THIS IS A "PROTECTED" CONNECTION, IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, IT HAS BEEN CORRODED FOR A VERY LONG TIME ACCORDING TO THE ELECTRIC SERVICEMAN. HE INFORMED ME THE OTHER "PINS" WILL FAIL ALSO EFFECTING THE WIPERS AND OTHER "NECESSARY" SAFETY COMPONENTS, BECAUSE OF THE CONDITION OF THIS CONNECTOR.
THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR LEAKING GAS.. AND SMELLS GASOLINE REALLY STRONG.. AND HARD STARTING ISSUE.
INTERMITTENT NON-START THAT RESETS IN 10 TO 15 MINUTES. NON-START OCCURRED ONCE AFTER THE CAR STALLED ON A HIGHWAY. IT STARTED AFTER ABOUT 12 MINUTES OF TIME LAPSE.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2006. ONE YEAR LATER I NOTICED MY SPEEDOMETER WAS NOT WORKING. I SEARCHED ON LINE AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SPEEDOMETER FAILING TO WORK. RIGHT AFTER THAT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE AND THE FUEL INDICATOR STOPPED WORKING. I WENT ON LINE AND FOUND THAT CHEVY TRUCKS HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR CLUSTER FAILURES. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO A CHEVY DEALER AND WAS TOLD I'D HAVE TO PAY $700+ FOR THE REPAIR. THE CLUSTER HASN'T WORKED ALL THESE YEARS AND I'VE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES OF THE CAR ALMOST OVERHEATING, THE CAR RUNNING OUT OF GAS, AND BEING PULLED OVER FOR EXCEEDING THE SPEED LIMIT BECAUSE THE CLUSTER DIDN'T WORK. HOW CAN GM & CHEVY SAY THEY STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS AND NOT RECOGNIZE DEFICIENCIES IN THEIR OWN PRODUCTS UNLESS IT MAKES NATIONAL NEWS. I'VE HELD ONTO THIS CAR AND HAVE MAINTAINED WELL SO I CAN BRAG ABOUT LONGEVITY BECAUSE OF THE CARE I TAKE. I CANNOT BRAG ABOUT GM/CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE OR RESPONSIVENESS, OR CUSTOMER LOYALTY. AFTER YEARS OF BUYING WELL MADE JAPANESE CARS I BOUGHT AMERICAN. NOW I WONDER WHY.
MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS COMPLETELY OUT OF WACK !! NONE OF THE GAUGES ARE WORKING AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT OCCURS IN THIS MODEL CAR . THIS SHOULD HAVE DEFINITELY BEEN A RECALL!!

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,149.

AS THE ORIGINAL AND ONLY OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE, THIS IS THE SECOND ITERATION OF A CRACKED FLEX PLATE. THE FIRST EVENT AND REPAIR FOR $661.69 HAPPENED WITH 48,929 MILES. THE CRACKS APPEAR TO BEGIN AT THE CRANKSHAFT MOUNTING BOLTS AND SPREAD OUT TO THE STAMPED STEEL CUTOUTS. IT IS A 3800 SERIES II V-6 DRIVEN IN NORMAL MANNER AND WELL MAINTAINED. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAPPENS...CHEAP FLEXPLATE?? *TR

THE PROBLEM RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE IMPOUND. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
CAR WILL NOT START. NEED TO WAIT 10 MINUTES TO ATTEMPT START AGAIN. FAILURE IS LIKELY DUE TO FAULTY ANTI-THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM THAT READS THE IGNITION KEY INCORRECTLY BUT NOT SURE. SAFETY ISSUE IS 10 MINUTES IN THE HOT TEXAS SUMMER CAN MEAN INSTANT DEHYDRATION TO AN INFANT. I AM THE FATHER OF AN INFANT! SOME OTHER CHEVY MODEL OF THE SAME YEAR (2005) HAVE HAD THE IGNITION LOCK SWITCH REPLACED AND I BELIEVE THE SAME SHOULD BE DONE WITH THE 2005 CHEVY IMPALA. *TR
2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO IGNITION CYLINDER AND OTHER VEHICLE REPAIR ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SOMETIME AGO, SHE WAS NOT ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. UPON CONTACTING HER INSURANCE COMPANY, SHE WAS ADVISED TO PRESS DOWN ON THE BRAKE AND THEN START THE VEHICLE. IT WORKED. ON SEPTEMBER 10TH THE DASHBOARD FLASHED A SECURITY. THE CONSUMER STOPPED BY A REPAIR SHOP AND WAS INFORMED IT COULD HAVE BEEN DUE TO A MALFUNCTION WITH THE CAR KEY. THREE DAYS LATER. THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. SHE TRIED THE BRAKE SOLUTION, BUT TO NO AVAIL. AGAIN, THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE WITH THE KEY. ON SEPTEMBER 17TH THE SECURITY LIGHT FLASHED AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. AFTER GOING BACK AND FORWARD WITH THE KEY, SHE MANAGED TO START THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP, WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THE IGNITION CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE PASS KEY NEEDED TO REPROGRAMMED. *JB
2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO A RECALL AND SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT. *TGW THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER WAS REPLACED. *JB
THE KEY TO MY IMPALA JAMMED AND WOULD NOT TURN. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER TOM GILL BECAUSE I HAD HEARD THERE WAS A RECALL. THEY INFORMED THAT DID NOT KNOW ABOUT A RECALL AFFECTING IGNITIONS FOR CHEVY IMPALAS. I HAD MY CAR REPAIRED BY A LOCK SMITH. I HAVE NOW RECEIVED MY RECALL NOTICE AND THEY INFORM ME THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS. GM IS NOT TAKING THIS RECALL SERIOUS. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER GM PRODUCT. IGNITION FAILURE CAUSED TO LOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND RUN INTO STUMP CAUSING $3350.00 OF DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, A SPEED BUMP WAS ENCOUNTERED AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND CRASHED INTO AN EMBANKMENT AND GUARDRAILS. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BACK INJURY THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. I WAS MERGING AND EXITING OFF THE EXPRESSWAY ON MY WAY TO WORK AND WENT TO USE MY TURN SIGNAL AND IT QUIT WORKING. UPON ARRIVING AT WORK I TRIED IT AGAIN AND NOTHING...I THEN TRIED MY OTHER TURN SIGNAL AND HAZARD LIGHT ALSO AND THEY DIDN'T WORK EITHER. I DO ALOT OF EXPRESSWAY DRIVING TO DIFFERENT CITIES DUE TO MY JOB OF WHICH I HAVE TO CHANGE LANES AND MERGE AND TURN QUITE FREQUENTLY SO THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN WITH MY TURN SIGNALS AND FLASHER NOT WORKING. *TR
THIS VEHICLE 2005 IMPALA WAS IN A ACCIDENT TWICE ONCE WHEN WE FIRST GOT IT. AND KNOW 08/04/2014 WITH FRONT END DAMAGE. EITHER TIME NO AIR BAG WAS DEPLOYED!!!!! THE LAST ACCIDENT WAS A DIRECT HIT TO THE LEFT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE!!! NO AIR BAG DEPLOYED!!!!

THE IGNITION ON MY CHEVY IMPALA WILL NOT TURN. IT IS LOCKED AND WILL NOT TURN. I HAVE READ OF OTHER SIGHTS THAT OTHER IMPALA ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THE DEALER IS NOT HELPFUL AND TOM GILL CHEVROLET IN FLORENCE, KY SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON MY CAR. HOWEVER, I SAW ONE ON THE WEB. IGNITION: DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, HIS SMALL POT HOLE AND IGNITION SHUT OFF CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING, GAS ETC. WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO SIDE OF ROAD AND SHUT CAR OFF AND RESTARTED. DASH: TEMPERATURE GAUGE DOESN'T WORK AT ALL MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO TELL WHETHER CAR IS OVERHEATING OR NOT. *TR
WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP, THE CAR JERKED INSTEAD OF TAKING OFF SMOOTHLY. THIS SEEMED TO HAPPEN AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN CAR IS SHIFTING FROM ONE GEAR TO ANOTHER EVEN THOUGH IT HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE SAFETY RISK HERE IS THAT ACCELERATION IS NOT EFFECTED AND A CAR COULD POTENTIALLY HIT YOU FROM BEHIND ESPECIALLY AT A STOP SIGN/LIGHT. *TR
