WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT AT LOW SPEEDS (LIKE WHEN BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY) THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON; THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL MAKES A GRINDING NOISE IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE LIGHT BLINKING; THERE IS AN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER, LIKE THE CAR IS BEING HELD BACK BY SOMETHING. SAME HAPPENS WHEN TURNING, ON A HILL COMING FROM A COMPLETE STOP BUT THIS IS RANDOM AND NOT EASILY RE-CREATED. I'VE ALSO NOTICED A WOBBLE IN THE STEERING WHEN TAKING BENDS ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS. IT SEEMS TO HAVE GOTTEN WORSE SINCE I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE A FEW DAYS AGO. I'VE RESORTED TO TURNING THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF BEFORE PUTTING THE CAR IN DRIVE AND THIS SEEMS TO AMELIORATE THE PROBLEM. TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND DEMONSTRATED THE PROBLEM TO THEM AND THEY AGREED THAT IT WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT PERFORMING AS IT SHOULD. THEY HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND DETERMINE THAT THERE WAS NOTHING STRUCTURALLY WRONG WITH ANY OF THE COMPONENTS THAT HE COULD TELL AND THAT THERE WERE "NO CODES BEING THROWN" - WHATEVER THAT MEANS. SO THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME, IT CANNOT BE "FIXED" BECAUSE, ACCORDING TO GM THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR EVEN THOUGH IT IS A DEMONSTRABLE EQUIPMENT FAILURE. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO TURN OFF THE TRACTION CONTROL -A SAFETY FEATURE!- ON MY CAR TO DRIVE IT WITHOUT LOOSING POWER AT THE WORST TIMES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, A VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE SPECIFICS OF THE REPAIRS WERE UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT SPECULATED THAT THE FAILURE MAY HAVE BEEN RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
FROM A STOP MAKING A LEFT TURN THE TRACTION CONTROL GOES ON AND PREVENTS ACCELERATION . ALMOST GOT HOT 3 TIMES ON CORNERS. *TR
WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT, THE CAR LURCHES SLIGHTLY FORWARD AND MAKES A TERRIBLE NOISE---LOUD ENOUGH TO BE HEARD OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. A MECHANIC CHECKED THE BALL BEARINGS IN THE WHEELS AND THEY WERE OKAY HE SAID. THIS NOISE STARTED A MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR. IT DOESN'T MAKE THIS NOISE EVERY TIME YOU MAKE A LEFT TURN, BUT WHEN IT DOES, IT DOES IT REPEATEDLY IF MAKING A LEFT TURN.
WHEN DRIVING NORMALLY SYSTEM PANEL WILL LIGHT UP WITH SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAK. WHILE TURNING TRACTION CONTROL WILL AUTOMATICALLY TURN ITSELF ON AND GRIND THE WHEELS MAKING TURNING DIFFICULT. WHEN BRAKING THE BRAKES WILL NOT ENGAGE RIGHT AWAY AND ABS LIGHT WILL COME ON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE VEHICLE MADE A LEFT TURN, THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE THAT CAME FROM THE DRIVERS LEFT TIRE. THE VEHICLE RESUMED IT NORMAL OPERATIONS WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN IN A FORWARD MOTION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON A REGULAR BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND A DIAGNOSIS WAS COMPLETED ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE REPRODUCED. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS COMPLETED ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
I JUST PURCHASED MY 2013 CHEVROLET IMPALA LTZ IN THE LAST 30 DAYS. HAVE DRIVEN LESS THAN 1500 MILES. WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING, I RECEIVED A SERVICE STABILITRAK AND A SLIGHT NOISE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING. GM CUSTOMER CARE WAS CLOSED AT THAT TIME, HOWEVER NEXT MORNING THE SERVICE WARNING WAS OFF...BUT I STILL FOLLOWED UP WITH GM. THE CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE SAID MOST LIKELY IF THE SERVICE WARNING WENT OFF - IT WAS JUST A GLITCH. HOWEVER, I WAS ALSO ABLE TO CONFIRM AT THAT TIME THAT BECAUSE I HAVE THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY, IT IS A COVERED ISSUE AND I COULD STILL TAKE IT IN TO BE LOOKED AT AND ANY AUTHORIZED GM DEALER. I SEE TODAY THAT A RECALL HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED FOR IMPALAS UP TO 2010 BUILD YEAR. I HAVE A LOANER CAR FOR THE SATURN IGNITION SWITCH RECALL THAT IS A 2013 IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING MY 93 YEAR OLD MOTHER AROUND, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WOULD NOT TURN ON. THIS HAPPENED EVERY TIME SHE RODE WITH ME. *TR
TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGES AND LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES OFF AND ENGINE REDUCES POWER AND ABS PUMP COMES ON ALL AT THE SAME TIME. OCCURS INTERMITTENT AND ONLY WHEN IT SITS FOR A DAY AND WHEN YOU BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND THEN PUT IT IN FORWARD GEAR TO GO FORWARD. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WAS FRACTURED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED AND THE SYSTEM ENGAGED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,780.
THE WIPERS HAD ICE ON THEM AS WELL AS THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD ON 01/25/14 A WEEK AFTER I BOUGHT MY CAR. THE DEFROSTER HAD BEEN ON ALL THE TIME DURING MY DRIVE HOME, ABOUT 1 HOUR. I HAD TO STOP A NUMBER OF TIMES TO KNOCK THE ICE OFF THE WIPERS AND SCRAPE THE WINDSHIELD. IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON 04/03/14 WHEN I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM THE MPLS AIRPORT. I HAD PUT ON NEW WIPERS AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT, YET THESE WIPERS ICED UP AS WELL. I AGAIN HAD THE DEFROSTER ON, SOMETIMES IT WAS FULL BLAST. I TOOK PICTURES OF THE WIPER BLADES ON THE 4/3 DRIVE. I SHOWED THEM TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE DEFROSTERS WERE WORKING FINE. TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. ALSO THERE IS TERRIBLE ROAD/WIND NOISE. I HAVE RECORDED IT. I HAD ALL THE WINDOWS UP, NOTHING WAS TURNED ON AND THE NOISE IS TERRIBLE. EVEN WHEN AT A STOP, YOU CAN HEAR THE NOISE OF THE PASSING CARS 2 OR MORE LANES AWAY. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR IT. THEY ARE WORKING WITH ME TO TRY TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. SO I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE DEALERSHIP, BUT WITH THE CAR. I AM THINKING OF TAKING IT TO A BODY SHOP AND SEE WHAT THEY THINK OF THE ROAD/WIND NOISE. I EVEN WEAR EARPLUGS IF I HAVE TO GO VERY FAR BECAUSE I CAN'T STAND TO LISTEN TO THE NOISE. I USED TO LOVE TO GET IN THE CAR AND JUST DRIVE, WITH NO RADIO ON, I DON'T IN THIS CAR. IF YOU WOULD LIKE A PICTURE OF THE WIPER BLADES OR LISTEN TO THE NOISE IN MY CAR I CAN SEND THOSE TO YOU. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED WHEN THE VEHICLE DISPLAYED A MESSAGE FROM THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER ABOUT TRACTION CONTROL DISENGAGED AND STABILITRACK NEEDING SERVICE. SES LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED. TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AS SOON AS I COULD GET AN APPOINTMENT, BUT BY THAT TIME ALL LIGHTS HAD RETURNED TO NORMAL. DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE PROBLEM AND NOTHING WAS DONE. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2013 IMPALA IN NOVEMBER WITH 19,000 MILES ON IT. I NOTICED A BANG IN THE FRONT END WHEN BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY CUTTING TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT. THE DRIVERS TIRE IS WEARING UNEVEN BECAUSE THE ALIGNMENT IS OFF "BUT ONLY SLIGHTLY AND WITHIN SPECS". STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AT 45-50 MPH WITHOUT PULLING. GO OVER A BUMP AND FEEL A VIBRATION IN THE FLOOR UNDER MY FEET! IT HAS BEEN IN SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY HAVE DONE THE FOLLOWING: 1. TIGHTEN MOTOR MOUNT 2. HAD IT HALF A DAY TO REPLACE A BROKEN MOTOR MOUNT (SAME ONE THEY TIGHTENED TWO WEEKS EARLIER) 3. HAD IT ALL DAY TO "LISTEN FOR THE NOISE", HEARD IT AND ORDERED A STRUT SPACER 4. HAD IT HALF A DAY TO REPLACE STRUT SPACER, DID NOT STOP THE NOISE THEY HAVE HEARD THE NOISE 3 TIMES AND MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT BUT WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL. I SUGGESTED THE RACK AND PINION BUT WAS TOLD GM WILL NOT PAY THEM TO EXPLORE MY FRONT END. SHOP SAYS WITHOUT HEARING THE NOISE ALL THE TIME WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR A "CATASTROPHIC EVENT TO OCCUR". *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED VERY SLOWLY. THE ENGINE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE KEY WAS TURNED BACK TO THE ON POSITION AND ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED A BROKEN LEFT HIP BONE, NERVE DAMAGE, AND OTHER INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE GEAR INDICATOR LIGHT DID NOT INDICATED WHAT GEAR THE VEHICLE WAS POSITIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND AFTER FIVE MINUTES, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED DAILY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 9,085.
"SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" AND "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" WARNING DURING NORMAL DRIVING ON MY WAY TO WORK THIS MORNING. THE CAR SUDDENLY DECELERATED AND STARTED RUNNING TERRIBLY, CAUSING A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE. I'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 2 MONTHS! APPARENTLY THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM WITH IMPALAS FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW THAT GM IS SEEMINGLY UNABLE TO FIX. HAD I KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED AN IMPALA. GM SOLD ME A LEMON. VERY DISAPPOINTED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO DECELERATE AND THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES OR VISIBLE DAMAGE TO EITHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
2013 CHEVROLET IMPALA RENTAL CAR. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SHIFT INDICATOR ISSUES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED GM THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO REMOVE THE LETTERS FROM THE SHIFT INDICATOR CONSOLE BETWEEN THE TWO FRONT SEATS. INSTEAD, GM PUT THE SHIFT INDICATOR AT THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE SPEEDOMETER, DIRECTLY OVER THE STEERING WHEEL. WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED LEFT OR RIGHT, THE SHIFT INDICATOR ON THE CONSOLE DASH WAS BLOCKED BY THE STEERING WHEEL. FURTHERMORE, THE HANDS OF THE DRIVER, WOULD ALSO BLOCK THE INDICATOR ON THE SPEEDOMETER.
