I CAN NOT REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION AFTER PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK. THE ABOVE HAPPENED RANDOMLY AT FIRST, BUT GOT WORSE, AND NOW HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE TIME. I NOW HAVE TO LEAVE THE KEY IN THE CAR, IN THE ACCESSORY POSITION, AND CARRY A SECOND KEY JUST TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE CAR. IF I DON'T RESTART THE CAR WITHIN A FEW HOUR HOURS, THE BATTERY WOULD BE DRAINED, AND I WOULD HAVE TO GET A JUMP START - THIS HAD HAPPENED TO ME A FEW TIMES. I SEARCHED THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND AN ARTICLE FROM AUTONEWS.COM DATED DECEMBER 11 2014 SAYING THAT GM IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, AND WOULD FIX IT IF ASKED (NOT A RECALL). I CONTACTED TWO LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIPS: COMMUNITY CHEVROLET (16 JAN 2015) AND RYDELL CHEVROLET (19 JAN 2015), BUT WAS TOLD THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY AUTHORIZATION FROM GM TO FIX THE ABOVE STATED ISSUE. PLEASE HELP ME RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM WITH GM. *TR

THE CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER IS 14V400. THE GM RECALL NUMBER IS 14350. RECEIVED SAFETY RECALL FOR.MY CAR. CALLED OREILLY CHEVROLET AT 520 829 4400 ON OCTOBER 7, 2014 TALKED TO [XXX]. SHE STATED THAT THEY DO NOT.HAVE PARTS AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL AND SHE PUT ME ON A LIST AND THEY WOULD CALL ME. ON OCTOBER 27, 2014 THE MALIBU COULD NO LONGER START, I BROUGHT THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC TO GET IT FIXED HE STATED THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED REPLACED. SO I TOLD THEM TO REPLACE IT CONSIDERING CHEVROLET NEVER CALLED.AND I CONSIDERED THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PART. I CALLED CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE AND I OPENED A CLAIM FOR $221.39 ON OCTOBER 28, 2014. THE CLAIM NUMBER IS [XXX]. ON OCTOBER 29, 2014 [XXX] THE DISTRICT SPECIALIST DENIED MY CLAIM, BECAUSE CHEVROLET POLICY DOES NOT PAY OUTSIDE MECHANICS AT ALL. I EXPLAINED I NEEDED MY VEHICLE AND O'REILLY DID NOT HAVE THE PART. SHE EXPLAINED THAT WAS POLICY AND THERE WILL BE NO REIMBURSEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. I AM APPALLED THAT I HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL, AND WHEN I GO TO MAKE THE APPOINTMENT IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE, NO PARTS ARE AVAILABLE UNTIL MID OCTOBER. THE RECALL NOTICE STATES WE SHOULD SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT ON OR AFTER OCTOBER 1, 2014. HOWEVER, WHAT'S THE POINT? THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE? *TR
THERE ARE THREE SAFETY PROBLEMS THAT HAVE OCCURRED. THE FIRST IS THAT THE TURN SIGNALS SOMETIMES WORK AND SOMETIMES DON'T. THE SECOND IS THAT THE ENGINE WILL AT TIME ACCELERATE ON IT'S OWN WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE IDLE. THE THIRD IS THAT THE ENGINE SOMETIMES COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING WHEN IT RAINS. A CAR REPAIR SHOP HAS IDENTIFIED PROBLEMS WITH THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR AND THE IDLE AIR CONTROL MOTOR. SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET REVEALS THAT THIS PARTICULAR CAR HAS PROBLEMS WITH THE EMERGENCY LIGHT CONTROL THAT CAUSES TURN SIGNAL PROBLEMS. I PERFORMED A RECALL SEARCH AND THE ONLY RECALL I FOUND WAS FOR AN IGNITION SWITCH MODIFICATION WHICH DOESN'T SEEM TO RELATE TO MY PROBLEMS.
BOUGHT VEHICLE ON SEPT 3 2014 WITHIN A COUPLE WEEKS WHILE DRIVING CAR LITERALLY JUST SHUTS OFF. STEERING LOCKS UP, ELECTRICAL SHUTS DOWN. LET CAR SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND WILL RESTART. FIRST ATTEMPT TO FIX WAS NEW FUEL PUMP. RAN GREAT FOR 2 WEEKS THEN SUDDENLY STARTED AGAIN. THERE IS NO CONSISTENCY TO THE PROBLEM-- FULL TANK, EMPTY TANK, DIFFERENT SPEEDS, RAIN, DRY. SIDE ROADS, MAIN ROADS. THE PROBLEM IS NOT PREDICTABLE. SECOND SOLUTION NEW IGNITION MODULE. GREAT FOR 3 WEEKS. DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING 40MPH AT NIGHT. WHEN IT DIES VERY HARD TO GET SAFELY OFF ROAD. COULD NOT GET THE CAR STARTED FOR MORE THAN 40 MIN. WENT FINE FOR A FEW DAYS THEN HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN ONE TRIP LESS THAN 20 MILES. FIRST COUPLE TIMES STARTED WITH IN A FEW MINUTES, NEXT HAD TO SIT FOR 15+ MINUTES HUGE SAFETY ISSUE TO HAVE CAR LITERALLY SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. POSSIBILITY TO GET STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND YET CAN FIND NO ONE WHO HAS SATISFACTORILY FIXED IT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ONE MONTH LATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY TEENAGER WAS TRYING TO AVOID A COLLISION RAN OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD CAME BACK ON THE ROAD AND THEN THE CAR WAS HEADED TO LEFT SHOULDER AND (TEENAGER) ATTEMPTED TO STRAIGHTEN THE VEHICLE OUT AND THEN THE VEHICLE RAN BACK OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AGAIN CAUSING A ACCIDENT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE K FRAME, TO WHICH THE RACK AND PINION STEERING IS BOLTED, WAS FRACTURED DUE TO RUST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 287,000.

THE IGNITION TURNED OFF. GOING OVER A RAILROAD CROSSING. LOST ENGINE POWER, AND POWER STEERING, BRAKES. PULLED OVER TO SHOULDER, STOPPED AND RESTARTED CAR. RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE TODAY 9/19/14, WITH THE VEHICLE VIN MATCHING. THE NAME OF THE VEHICLE IS INCORRECT. IT SAYS "CHEVROLET CLASSIC". NOTE: IT IS A CHEVROLET MALIBU. NO WARE ON THE VEHICLE IS THE NAME "CLASSIC", NOR IS IT INDICATED ON OR IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THIS HAS CAUSED CONFUSION AND OTHERS MAY BE MISLEADING AS WELL. *TR

WHILE PARKING I HEARD A NOISE IN THE FRONT END AND UPON TURNING THE WHEEL HARDER THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I COULD BARELY TURN THE WHEEL. LATER IN THE DAY PUT IN MORE POWER STEERING FLUID THINKING THAT WAS THE PROBLEM BUT HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I THOUGHT THE POWER STEERING WAS GOING OUT AS I WAS HEARING A GRINDING TYPE NOISE IN THE FRONT END. THE NEXT DAY I COULD FEEL SOMETHING UNDER THE DRIVER FLOOR BOARD AND LOUDER NOISES WHEN TURNING HARD. TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD SUB-FRAME IS RUSTED AND NEEDS REPLACED AS WELL AS THE RACK AND PINION; THIS WILL START OUT AS A $2000.00 REPAIR AND COULD GO UP TO $4000.00 DEPENDING ON WHAT ELSE THEY FIND WHEN THEY WORK ON IT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY GM AS THEY USED SHODDY MATERIALS BUILDING THIS VEHICLE. MY MECHANIC SAID I SHOULDN'T DRIVE IT AS I MAY LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS CAR WAS KEPT IN A GARAGE FOR THE FIRST 10 YEARS I HAVE OWNED IT AND HAS ONLY BEEN PARKED OUTSIDE FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS. AT ONLY 89,000 MILES I AM DISGUSTED AT THE WAY THIS VEHICLE WAS BUILT. MY BOYFRIEND AND I BOUGHT A 2000 CHEVY MALIBU FROM A USED CAR LOT. IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR I WENT TO TAKE THE CAR FOR A CAR WASH FOR THE FIRST TIME AND WHEN THE CAR GOT WET IT TURNED OFF - ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD CAME ON AND THE CAR THAT I JUST FILLED UP 5 MINUTES PRIOR- THE GAS NEEDLE WENT TO ZERO. I TOOK THE KEY OUT AND WAITED FOR THE CAR WASH TO BE OVER AND IT FIRED UP RIGHT AWAY. BUT WHEN I GOT HOME AND I TURNED IT BACK ON THE CAR WOULDN'T START AND A LEFT LIGHT WOULD COME ON. WE LET THE CAR SIT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THEN IT STARTED UP FINE AND WAS RUNNING FINE. ONE NIGHT COMING HOME FROM A CONFERENCE IT WAS RAINING AND WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN CAR SHUT OFF, ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON. WE WERE THANKFULLY ABLE TO SAFELY GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE CAR FIRED UP AGAIN AND WE GOT HOME BUT WHEN WE PARKED IT IT WOULDN'T TURN ON. I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND IT MADE A LOUD NOISE/ SOUND LIKE IT CAME FROM THE HEATING AND COOLING VENT INSIDE. I WENT TO THE STORE AND THE KEY WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. I GOT IT OUT . MY MECHANIC SAYS THE ENGINE CRADLE IS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT, AND THE RACK AND PINION STEERING NEEDS REPLACING.HE SAID THE RUST IS CAUSED BY THE HOSE FROM THE AIR CONDITIONING DRIPPING ON THE ENGINE. THE BODY OF THE CAR IS PERFECT. I WOULD LIKE CHEVY TO REPAIR THIS. IT WOULD BE ABOUT $2000 OR SO TO GET THE CAR REPAIRED WITH A USED ENGINE CRADLE AND A USED RACK AND PINION. WE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL FILTER AFTER THE CAR CONTINUED TO CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. ANOTHER ISSUE WAS SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WOULD AUTOMATICALLY SPEED UP WHICH MADE BRAKING HARD AND ROUGH. I WAS RECENTLY TOLD BY THE MECHANIC TO REPLACE MY IGNITION SWITCH WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO FIX THE CAR TURNING OFF WHILE DRIVING. *TR
