INTERMITTENTLY POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THIS OCCURRED THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THEN, POWER STEERING ASSIST SUDDENLY ENGAGED, SOMETIME RESULTING IN OVER STEERING. DEALERSHIP PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT INDICATED THAT POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AS MENTIONED NHTSA RECALL 03V27000. HAZARD WARNING SWITCHES MAY EXPERIENCE SOLDER JOINT CRACKING CAUSED BY RAPID TEMPERATURE TRANSITIONS AND THE SOLDERING PROCESS. IF SOLDER JOINT CRACKING OCCURS AND RESULTS IN AN OPEN CIRCUIT, THE TURN SIGNALS/HAZARD LAMPS BECOME INTERMITTENT OR INOPERATIVE. DEALERSHIP INDICATED TO THE CONSUMER THAT THIS VEHICLE WA SNOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK

COMPLAINT RECEIVED VIA E-MAIL. WHILE MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING HOME FROM A RESTAURANT ACCELERATOR PEDAL LOCKED OPEN WHILE APPROACHING OUR EXIT. IT WAS ONLY BY MY QUICK REACTION AND COOL HEAD THAT MY FAMILY WAS SPARED A HORRENDOUS ACCIDENT. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP. JUST LAST WEEK THE POWER STEERING PUMP FAILED, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.. THIS TRIBUTE WAS A NIGHTMARE, CONSIDERING THE AGE OF THIS VEHICLE AND ONLY 45,000 KILOMETERS.*AK

TURN SIGNAL FAILURE ON 2000 CHEVROLET MALIBU ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. HAD TO PUT ON HAZARD LIGHTS WHICH SOMETIMES ALSO WOULD NOT WORK . HAZARD SWITCH REPLACED AT AUTHORIZED CHEVY DEALERSHIP ON 7/26/04 AT A COST OR $135.07.*AK JUST RECENTLY NOTICED ON YOUR WEBSITE THAT RECALL 03V327000 HAD BEEN ISSUED ON 2/5/04 BY GENERAL MOTORS. CALLED CHEVY RECALL CUSTOMER SERVICE ON 11/29/04 TO INQUIRE WHY I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AND WAS TOLD MY CAR VIN # NOT ON LIST FOR RECALL DUE TO DATE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED. IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO REACH AN AGREEMENT FOR REIMBURSEMENT SINCE EXPERIENCED SAME PROBLEM CONTAINED IN THE RECALL. BELIEVE YOU SHOULD REOPEN INVESTIGATION FOR GENERAL MOTORS TO AMEND RECALL FOR CARS EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEM BUT NOT ON THEIR ORIGINAL RECALL LIST.
I AM THE OWNER OF A CHEVROLET MALIBU. THIS CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. THE CAR WILL SHUT OFF WHEN DRIVING SPEEDS OF 55 OR MORE. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE I PURCHASED THIS CAR. FIRST, IT WAS THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET. SECOND, IT WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM. THIRD, THE CAR QUIT ON ME AND MY DAUGHTER WHEN WE WERE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESS WAY GOING 60 MILES PER HOUR. WE COULD HAVE KILLED OURSELVES AND SOMEONE ELSE. *JB
THE CONSUMER STATED THE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS CAME ON AND WENT OFF ON THEIR OWN. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER INFORMED THE MECHANIC ABOUT RECALL(03V327000) BUT THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE RECALL WAS NOT FOR THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS AT 29,000 MILES, NOW 5,000 MILES LATER AT 34,000 MILES THE BRAKE PADS HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE ROTORS RESURFACED AGAIN. I FEEL THE PARTS BEING USED ARE DEFECTIVE. I ALSO FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I LOOKED AT THE COMPLAINTS AGAINST THE SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE I HAVE WHICH IS A 2000 CHEVROLET MALIBU AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE BRAKES. AS READING OVER THE WEBSITE I NOTICE THE 2000 MALIBU IS PRETTY MUCH A LEMON. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE RADIO, PRETTY MUCH EVERY GASKET IN THE ENGINE, THE FUEL PUMP, BRAKES FRONT AND REAR, NOW MY TURN SIGNALS DON'T WORK, JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL I HAVE TO CHECK TO SEE IF I QUALIFY, MY ENGINE KNOCKS ON COLD STARTS, AND IT PRACTICALLY LOSSES ALL POWER WHEN I GO TO ACCELERATE . . MANUFACTURER USED PLASTIC INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET WHICH CAUSED ENGINE TO LEAK COOLANT AND OVERHEAT. WHY USE PLASTIC? WHAT HAPPENS TO PLASTIC WHEN IT CONTINUOUSLY HEATS AND COOLS, IT FAILS. WHEN USING THE TURN SIGNAL SOMETIMES IT WILL WORK AND SOMETIMES IT WON'T. WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK THERE IS NO WARNING OR ANYTHING TO INDICATE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TURN SIGNAL. RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2000 CHEVROLET MALIBU WITH 61K MILES. DISCOVERED MULTIPLE PROBLEMS AS OTHERS HAVE DESCRIBED AND COVERED UNDER RECALLS, BUT SOME WHICH ARE NOT. WORST PROBLEM IS INTAKE GASKET IS LEAKING RESULTING IN COOLANT LEAK AND COOLANT MIXING WITH OIL. GM DEALER STATES THERE ARE NO CAMPAINS OR RECALLS ON THIS ITEM, ALTHOUGH I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM ON DOZENS OF WEBSITES.*AK
WHILE DRIVING ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE TEMPERATURE NEEDLE WAS REGISTERING AS HOT ON THE DASHBOARD. VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER RESTARTED VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. *AK *TS
WE UNFORTUNATELY OWN A 2000 CHEVY MALIBU. WE HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE ROTORS SEVERAL TIMES FOR GOING OUT OF ROUND. WE HAVE ALSO REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AT LESS THEN 50,000 MILES AT THE COST OF $728.00. THE AIR CONDITIONER POPS ON AND OFF ON ITS OWN NOT COOLING FOR THE MOST PART. THE TURN SIGNALS ARE NONFUNCTIONAL AND OUR VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ALTHOUGH IT SHOULD BE. THEN THERE IS THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND THE COOLANT LEAKING AND THE CAR OVERHEATING WE ARE TOLD THIS IS A MANIFOLD INTAKE GASKET AND WILL COST AROUND 800.00 TO FIX. THE NEWEST PROBLEM IS THE FACTORY INSTALLED RADIO TUNER IS BURNED OUT AND NOW WE HAVE TO REPLACE THE RADIO COSTING YET ANOTHER $100.00 DOLLARS OR SO THIS CAR HAS NICKEL AND DIMED US TOO MUCH. AFTER LOOKING OVER YOUR SITE I FOUND THESE TO BE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL. I FEEL THIS CAR WAS A LEMON ACROSS THE BOARD NOT JUST OURS BUT, ALL 2000 MALIBU'S. PLEASE LOOK INTO THESE CARS ON A WHOLE THEY WERE VERY BADLY MANUFACTURED AND WE ALL DESERVE SOME COMPENSATION FOR IT. *JB
CAR CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND SOMETIME WOULD NOT START. PROBLEM: UNDER THE HOOD FUSE BOX NO GOOD.*AK
HORN INOPERATIVE, ACCIDENT NEARLY OCCURRED. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER TWICE DEALER DENIED FAILURE OCCURRED. HORN NOW IS INOPERATIVE. *AK
AFTER STOPPING FOR AN ERRAND AND SEEING A PUDDLE OF COOLANT ON THE GROUND, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL REPAIR SHOP TO HAVE THE LEAK CHECKED ON. THE REPAIR SHOP FOUND A LEAK IN THE LOWER INTAKE GASKET. THE SHOP ADVISED THAT THIS REPAIR WAS COMMON AND POSSIBLY CAUSED BY THE TYPE OF COOLANT USED AND POSSIBLY DEFECTS WITH THE GASKETS OR INTAKE MANIFOLD. THEY PROVIDED AND ESTIMATE FOR REPAIRS BETWEEN $600.00 AND $800.00 DEPENDING IF ANY FURTHER PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. THE DEALER WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED (POLAR CHEV IN WHITE BEAR LAKE, MN) WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE REPAIR AND REFUSED TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE IN REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THEY DO A LOT OF THESE REPAIRS ON THE MALIBU AND IMPALA BUT THE REPAIR IS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS CONTACTED ALSO. THEY SAID NO SPECIAL CONSIDERATION OR BULLETINS ISSUED ABOUT COOLANT LEAKS ON THE 200 CHEV MALIBU. FROM RESEARCH ON THE ISSUE IT APPEARS TO BE A LARGE PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLES AND CHEV REFUSES TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. *JB

INTERMITTENTLY, THE SIGNALS FAILED TO FUNCTION. HIS FAILURE COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. *AK *SC
OIL LEAKED INTO COOLANT SYSTEM OF OUR 2000 CHEVROLET MALIBU REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET AND FLUSHING OUT OF THE ENGINE. THIS ENGINE ONLY HAD 40,900 MILES ON IT. RESEARCH HAS SHOWN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOR THIS PROBLEM ON THIS PARTICULAR GM ENGINE (3.1 LITER).
TURN SIGNAL AND HAZARD WARNING LIGHT WERE NOT WORKING. NHTSA RECALL 03V327000 WAS ISSUED ON THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK THE DEALER REPLACED THE HAZARD SWITCH. *NM
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH VEHICLE COMPLETELY STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING. A DEALER EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE FUEL SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED. *AK *M
TURN SIGNAL AND HAZARD WARNING LIGHT WERE NOT WORKING. NHTSA RECALL 03V327000 WAS ISSUED ON THIS PROBLEM. DEALER STATED THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK
THE TURN SIGNALS STOP WORKING FOR NO REASON.SOMETIMES TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING IT CAN MAKE THEM WORK AGAIN OR PULLING THE BOTTLE/CAN HOLDER OUT CAN HELP. LATELY THE FUEL INDICATER AND THE A/C WILL NOT WORK WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED BUT MAY COME ON 2 OR 3 BLOCKS DOWN THE ROAD. ALSO THE CHECK ENGINE AND OR THE SERVICE AUTO LIGHT MAY COME ON. THE FUSES HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND DO NOT APPEAR TO BE DAMAGED BUT SOMETIMES ROTATING THEM WILL CAUSE THE PART NOT WORKING TO START WORKING AGAIN. I THINK THERE MAY BE AN ELECTRIAL PROBLEM IN THE PANEL BEHIND THE FUSES TO THE LEFT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURING WITH NO APPARENT PATTERN EXCEPT FOR THE USE OF THE BOTTLE/CAN HOLDER.*AK
1ST ISSUE: VEHICLE HORN NOT WORKING AT STEERING COLUMN. REPLACED FUSES UNDER HOOD AND STILL DOES NOT WORK. HORN DOES WORK WHEN VEHICLE'S PANIC ALARM IS SOUNDED AND WHEN REMOTE LOCKS ARE ACTIVATED. WILL ATTEMPTING TO GET VEHICLE FIXED BUT CONCERNED ABOUT PREVIOUS RECALLS FOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. 2ND ISSUE: THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS ON/ OFF SENSOR. THIS SENSOR APPEARS TO HAVE FAILED FROM THE FIRST FEW MONTHS I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE. DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS NEVER ACTIVATE. THE NIGHTTIME HEADLAMPS ARE ALWAYS ON WHEN IGNITION IS ON.*AK
LIGHT FOR LOW WATER WOULD COME ON. ABOUT 3-4 TIMES EVERY 6 MONTHS STARTING 2002. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN EVERY TIME THE CAR WAS DRIVEN, EVEN JUST A FEW BLOCKS. AT THAT POINT, THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT FAR FROM HOME WHEN THE MAJOR TROUBLE STARTED. THE REPAIR REPORT READS "LOW COOLANT LIGHT IS ON AND THE OIL APPEARS TO HAVE WATER MIXED... ADVISE... LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKETS LEAKING -REPLACED LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKETS. ALL RELATED GASKET/SEALS. 6 HOURS OF LABOR IN CARY, NC. TOTAL BILL $768. + $50 FOR TOWING. THE CAR ONLY HAS 36,000 MILES. THIS SEEMS A LOT FOR A RELATIVELY "YOUNG" CAR. THANK GOODNESS THE LOW WATER LIGHT WORKED -- BUT NO EXCUSE FOR THE PROBLEM. *AK
I HAVE A 2000 MALIBU WITH 16.000 MILES ON IT. THE FUEL PUMP JUST WENT. THE MECHANICS I SPOKE WITH FELT THIS TO BE HIGHLY UNUSUAL. HE FELT THAT THERE MOST LIKELY WAS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. *AK
WATER WAS GETTING INTO THE BRAKE LIGHTS. THIS RESULTED IN RUST AND THE BULB BLOWING OUT. *AK THE STOP SIGNAL AND THE TURN SIGNALS WOULD ALSO GET RUSTED. THE CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO CHANGE THE BULBS EVERY TWO TO THREE MONTHS. *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING AND UPON USING THE TURN SIGNALS OR TURNING THE HAZARD BUTTON THE LIGHTS WILL NOT ILLUMINATE AND BECAME INOPERABLE. CONSUMER STATED THAT WAS HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AS MENTIONED IN RECALL 03V327000. CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
I HAVE A 2000 CHEVY MALIBU AND IT WEARS OUT BRAKE PADS ON LESS THEN 10,000 MILES. GM REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND BLAMES THE CUSTOMER'S DRIVING HABITS. IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY, SO THERE IS NOT MUCH I CAN DO SINCE GM SAYS IT IS THE BRAKE PADS. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING ELSE CAUSING THIS TO HAPPEN, BUT GM REFUSES TO LISTEN. *LA

GOING TO WORK CAR JUST DIES. WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK. TOOK TO MY MECHANIC. HE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. MY CAR IS A 2000 MAILBU WHICH ONLY HAS 15,000 MILES ON IT . CANNOT BELIVE THAT THIS PART WOULD FAIL THAT SOON. THIS REPAIR COST ME 500.00 THE PART ALONE WAS OF COURSE A DEALER ONLY PART. WAS 350.00 PLUS A FILTER. OUTRAGEOUS. AS A RESULT OF THE RECALL ON AUG 27, 2003; NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 03V327000 REGARDING THE HAZARD WARNING FLASHER ON A 2000 CHEVY MALIBU, I CONTACTED A CHEVY DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALER WAS KARL CHEVROLET IN ANKENY IOWA. I WAS TOLD THAT THE VIN RELATED THAT MY CAR WAS MADE BEFORE THE CARS AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS STATED IN THE RECALL ANNOUNCEMENT. MY TURN SIGNALS WILL NOT WORK AT TIMES. THERE IS NO PATTERN AS TO WHEN THIS WILL OCCUR. THE VIN IS [XXX]. STARTED TO ACT LIKE IT HAD PLUGGED FUEL FILTER HAD THEM CHANGED STILL GOT WORSE THEN HAD FUEL SYSTEM CLEANED DID NOT HELP I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS PRBLEMS WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM ON THIS CAR I DO NOT HAVE THE FUND TO REPAIR A MANUFACTUERS ERROR AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS A PROBLEM THAT YOU HAVE HEARD OF I LISTED THE DATE OF THE FIRST TIME IT STARTED IT IS STILL HAPPENING. *AK

CONSUMER STATED THE SIGNAL LIGHTS WORKED INTERMITTENTLY OR SOMETIMES THEY DID NOT WORK AT ALL. RECALL 03V327000 CONCERNING HAZARD WARNING SWITCH WAS ISSUED. CONSUMER INDICATED THAT THE RECALL WAS THE PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. *AK
I OWN A 2000 CHEVEROLET MALIBU. WHEN I WAS GETTING AN INSPECTION IT FAILED BECAUSE THE STEERING RACK WAS LOOSE, ONE OF THE SCREWS HOLDING IT TOGATHER,BACKED OUT. IT WAS STILL THERE BUT MONRO DOES NOT DO THIS TYPE OF WORK ON CARS. I WAS TOLD BY MONRO MUFFLER/BRAKE THAT IT WOULD HAVE TO BE TAKEN TO A CHEVEROLET DEALER TO HAVE THIS WORK DONE. THE TURN SIGNAL AND HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *AK THE CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO TURN ON THE HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS TO GET THE SIGNAL LIGHTS TO WORK. THE LIGHTS WOULD WORK FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THEN WOULD START BACK DOING THE SAME THING. *SC *JB
