METAL ON METAL RATTLING SOUNDS COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE CAR. THE NOISE IS LOUD. SOUNDS UNSAFE LIKE SOMETHING IS GOING TO FALL OFF OR FREEZE UP. TOOK THE CAR TO MY REPAIR GUY AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. WE THE(REPAIR) GUY AND I TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE. THEY SAID IT'S SOUNDS BAD BUT, DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. HE SAID THEY COULD START REPLACING PARTS BUT WILL NOT GUARANTEE UNTIL THE ACTUAL PART (S) ARE FOUND IF ANY. *TR
THE BULB IN THE FRONT LEFT TURN SIGNAL BECAME TOO HOT AND BURNED OUT WHILE MELTING THE AMBER COVER AROUND IT. AFTER REPLACING THE BULB, THE TURN SIGNAL AND HIGH LEVEL RUNNING LIGHT FUNCTION WOULD NOT WORK BUT THE LOW LEVEL LIGHT STILL OPERATES WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. I REPLACED THE BULB TWICE AND CLEANED THE CONNECTOR AND GET INTERMITTENT USE OF THE TURN SIGNAL, BUT I NEVER KNOW IF IT'S GOING TO WORK OR NOT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE CONTACT TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL AND HEARD A KNOCKING SOUND. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO GREASE LUBRICATING THE STEERING BOX. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN A FEW MONTHS LATER AND WAS REPAIRED AT THE DEALER. ONE YEAR LATER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT, I COULD BARELY TURN THE WHEEL. STERRING COLUMN WILL COST ME ALMOST SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS TO FIX. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS, THE CONTACT HEARD A HISSING NOISE EACH TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. ON A SEPARATE OCASSION, WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 65 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE AND REACH A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM PUMP FAILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 126,239.
I PUT DOWN THE BACK WINDOWS AND NOW THEY WON'T GO BACK UP. I HAVE AN '05 MALIBU AND RARELY USE THE WINDOWS. THE MOTOR SHOULD NOT HAVE WENT (IF THAT IS IN FACT THE PROBLEM). I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT MY INFANT IN THE CAR IN THE WINTER IF THIS PROBLEM ISN'T FIXED? *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE DETAILS OF THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. WHENEVER THE CONTACT TURNS THE STEERING WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION, HE HEARS A CLUNKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE STEERING SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED THREE TIMES. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 40,050.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. HE NOTICED A V-SHAPED BURNT PATTERN IN THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT. APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AGO, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT FAILED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 102,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
ABOUT EVERY TWO WEEKS I HAVE TO CHANGE THE LIGHT BULBS IN MY HEADLIGHTS BECAUSE IT IS BECOMING SO WARM THAT IT IS MELTING THE PLASTIC AROUND THE LIGHT BULB. IT IS BECOMING SO WARM THAT IT IS STARTING TO MELT TO HEADLIGHT COVER! *TR
UNDER WARRANTY MY 2005 MALIBU MAXX DEVELOPED A CLUNKING NOISE THAT YOU ALSO FEEL IN THE STEERING. MOSTLY TURNING LEFT. GOING FORWARD OR REVERSE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE STEERING GEAR AND IT FIXED THE PROBLEM. NOT A SOUND TURNING LEFT ,RIGHT OR WHATEVER. I WAS VERY SATISFIED BUT 10 MONTHS AND 12,500 MILES LATER GUESS WHAT ! IT'S BAAACK ! THE CONNECTING FOUNDATION FOR THE POWER DRIVERS SEAT BROKE LOOSE AT THE WELD POINT. THE DRIVERS SEAT IS NOT PROPERLY GROUNDED TO THE VEHICLE AND IT MOVES UP AND DOWN WHILE I AM DRIVING. I WROTE THE MANUFACTURER BUT THEY DECLINED MY REQUEST TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE REPAIR. *TR
THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM IN MY 2005 CHEVY MALIBU LS KEEPS COMING ON WHILE I'M DRIVING. WHEN THAT HAPPENS EVERYTHING ON THE DASH STOPS WORKING. MPH, FUEL ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON . WHEN ANTI-THEFT LIGHT COMES ON THE CAR WILL NOT START. SO THAT LEAVES ME AND MY DAUGHTERS STUCK. NOW WHEN I STOP AND PARK THE CAR FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM ACTIVATES. I AM SO SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW IF IT'S GOING TO START. ME AND MY DAUGHTERS HAVE BEEN STRANDED IN DARK PARKING LOTS FOR UP TO 6 HOURS. ALSO THE BREAK LIGHT ARE A MESS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL CAP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FUEL CAP WAS REPLACED BUT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE STEERING FAILS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. SHE WILL SEE THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED BEFORE THE FAILURES OCCURS. THE STEERING SHAKES AND IS HARD TO TURN. SHE TURNS THE VEHICLE OFF AND THE STEERING RESETS BACK TO NORMAL. SHE HAD A INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE AND THEY STATED THE STEERING CONSOLE WILL NEED TO BE REPLACE. THE DEALER ESTIMATED COST FOR REPAIR WAS $800.00. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
FRONT LEFT TURN SIGNAL REPEATEDLY BURNS OUT, AMBER CASING HAS MELTED HOLE, CHANGING BULBS DOES NOT FIX PROBLEM. *TT
FRONT TURN SIGNALS AND HEADLIGHTS BURN OUR REGULARLY HAVE REPLACE APPROXIMATELY 18 TO DATE. THE AMBER LENS ARE MELTED. GM STATES ESTIMATED $700 TO REPAIR. PLEASE NOTE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS POST ON SEVERAL WEB SITES. THIS DOES NOT APPEAR TO ISOLATED INCIDENT IS A SAFETY CONCERN. I NOTICED MAY BE ON OTHER RECALL FOR SAME ISSUE, DIFFERENT MODEL YEAR?? TIRED OF REPLACING BULBS MAY BE A SOCKET FAILURE AND CIRCUIT BOARD FAILURE. GM REPORTEDLY HAS ISSUED TECH. BULLETIN BUT, HAVE NOT RECEIVED NOTICE OF ITS PUBLICATION. AGAIN OTHER OWNERS HAVING SAME ISSUE REPORTEDLY. REPORTEDLY, GM IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THIS ISSUE STARTED JUST OUT OF WARRANTY. ON MY WAY TO THE STORE TO BUY MORE BULBS. TIRED OF BUYING BULBS. *TR
WE BOUGHT THIS CAR 4 YRS AGO IN AUG 2008 AT ONLY A FEW YRS OLD WE WERE VERY OPTIMISTIC THAT THE $ WE WERE SPENDING ON IT WOULD BE WORTH THE LESS UPKEEP THAN THAT OF THE 1994 CROWN VIC THAT WE TRADED IN (& MY HUSBANDS 78 OLDS THAT HAS ALWAYS REQUIRED MORE WORK THAN IT PUT OUT SINCE HE PURCHASED IT WHEN WE MET BACK IN 06). SINCE IT WAS A FEW YRS OLD WE THOUGHT THAT EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO WARRANTY ON OUR NEW "USED" CAR, WE WOULD BE OK. WE WERE WRONG. THE FIRST PROBLEM WE NOTICED WAS THE ALIGNMENT WHICH MAKES THE CAR SHAKE/VIBRATE AT SPEEDS 60+ & OUR FIRST VACATION WE TOOK IT ON WHICH WE ONLY DROVE 4-5 HRS THERE & WE ENDED UP WITH 2 FLAT TIRES ON THE WAY. THEN THE HEADLIGHTS & BLINKERS HAD TO BE REPLACED (FULL UNITS) BC BOTH OF THEM KEPT GIVING OUT & THE BULBS WEREN'T THE PROBLEMS & I KEPT GETTING TRAFFIC TICKETS BC I WASN'T ALWAYS AWARE WHEN ONE WOULD GO OUT. OUR 2 BIGGEST PROBLEMS TO DATE HAVE BEEN OUR FUEL SENSOR/ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WHICH QUIT WORKING AFTER 1 YR & I HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS 10 TIMES BC IT ISN'T EASY TO KEEP UP WITH MILES/DATES & I HAVE KIDS SO FILLING UP EVERY DAY ISN'T EASY EITHER AS WELL AS THE LOCKS/BUTTONS ON THE DRIVERS DOOR THAT DO NOT WORK & I HAVE TO OPEN MY TRUNK WITH A KEY & HAD TO PAY $ TO GET AUTO LOCK SO THAT I DON'T HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK THE DOORS W/ THE KEYS & THE TRANSMISSION/MOTOR WE HAD TO PAY $2750 TO REPLACE BC THE LAST ONE COMPLETELY GAVE OUT RESULTING IN THE CAR NOT BEING ABLE TO RUN WHATSOEVER & MY HUSBAND HAVING TO LITERALLY PUSH MY NEUTRAL CAR WITH HIS BC WE DIDN'T HAVE THE $ AT THE TIME TO FIX IT.. BESIDES THESE PROBLEMS THERE ARE THE SEATS (PLASTIC PANELS) FALLING/CRACKING APART, WE HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD BC ANYTIME IT RAINED OUR SEATS WOULD BE COMPLETELY SOAKED.. & MANY OTHER PROBLEMS I STILL DEAL WITH. KEEP IN MIND FOR THE 4 YRS I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR I HAVEN'T WRECKED IT & MY HUSBAND KEEPS IT UP (CHANGES OIL, BRAKES,ETC). *TR
A/C CONTROL HEAD FAILED RIGHT AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED. I PAID TO HAVE IT REPLACED, AND HAVE HAD IT REPLACE 3 OTHER TIMES NOW. THERE IS DEFINITELY A DESIGN FLAW WITH THIS PART. *TR

MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL WORK SOMETIMES AND NOT OTHERS, I REPLACED THE FUSE. IN THE RAIN WIPERS WILL BE WORKING FINE, THEN QUIT ALL OF A SUDDEN. MY MECHANIC COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. IF YOU DO NOT TAKE THE FUSE OUT NOW, THE WIPERS WILL STAY ON CONSTANTLY. IF YOU WANT TO USE THEM NOW YOU HAVE TO PUT THE FUSE BACK IN TO MAKE THEM WORK. YOU HAVE TO HOPE YOU CAN PULL OVER SAFELY ONCE THE RAIN STARTS. I AM CONSTANTLY USING RAIN X WHEN IT LOOKS LIKE RAIN. THIS IS THE 2ND ELECTRICAL PROBLEM I HAVE HAD WITH MY 2005 CHEVY MALIBU. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE FRONT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
WE HAVE A 2005 CHEVY MALIBU WITH 39,000 MILES. MY WIFE DRIVES THE CAR NORMALLY BUT I DROVE THE CAR FOR A FEW WEEKS AND NOTICED A CLUNKING IN THE STEERING AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN TURNING. TAKING THE CAR INTO OUR MECHANIC IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS A ISSUE WITH THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED. I DON'T THINK THIS PART SHOULD EVER GO OUT LET ALONE AT 39,000 MILES. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE CAR. THE MECHANIC TOLD US THAT CHEVY HAS HAD THIS ISSUE WITH MAY CARS AND TRUCKS AND HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE ISSUE. *TR
ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THIS VEHICLE HAS A DEFECTIVE RACK AND PINION THAT IS BASED UPON ENGINEERING AND COULD CAUSE A LOSS OF CONTROL STEERING WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. A LOUD POPPING NOISE IS HEARD WHILE TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT AND A SNAPPING IS HEARD WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND BREAKING. A LOOSE RATTLE ALSO OCCURS IN FRONT END WHILE DRIVING ON PRIMARY OR SECONDARY ROADS. CAR JUMPS AND STEERING JERKS WHEN HITTING A BUMP ON PAVED ROADWAYS. CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN IN FOR REPAIRS THREE TIMES. *TR
THE BRACKET HOLDING THE BRAKE MANIFOLD TO THE FRAME LOST ITS BOLTS CAUSING THE FRONT RIGHT BRAKE LINE TO RUB THE ENGINE AND CAUSE A HOLE IN THE LINE. MY WIFE LOST ALL HER BRAKE FLUID AND ALSO HER BRAKES. *TR
I PURCHASED TWO 2005 CHEVY MALIBUS - ONE LT AND ONE LS. IN FEBRUARY 2008 MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE LS AND REARENDED ME INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS AT A DEAD STOP AND IT PROPELLED ME 4 FEET BEFORE I SLAMMED INTO THE CAR INFRONT OF ME. SHE WENT UP MY BUMPER AND INTO MY TRUNK AND NO AIRBAGS IN HER MALIBU OR MINE WERE DEPLOYED. IN JULY 2008 SHE WAS DRIVING THE LT AND ROLLED THE CAR TWO TIMES AT 55 MPH AND NONE OF THE 6 AIRBAGS DEPLOYED THAT TIME EITHER. THE FIRST ACCIDENT CAUSED $8,000 DAMAGE TO HER CAR AND $ 10,000 TO MINE YET NO AIRBAGS. THE SECOND ACCIDENT THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS AND NO AIRBAGS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, THE CONTACT HEARD A POPPING SOUND. THE FAILURE BEGAN SIX MONTHS AGO AND NOW IT IS CAUSING THE POWER STEERING TO FAIL. THE FAILURE WAS VERY SUBTLE AT FIRST, BUT NOW THE POWER STEERING FAILS FOR DAYS AT A TIME. THE AIR CONDITIONING WOULD ACTIVATE ON AND OFF, BUT NOW IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING MODULE AND AIR CONDITIONING RESISTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE CONTROL PANEL IS WARM TO THE TOUCH AFTER DRIVING FOR SOME TIME. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY WITH THE DEALER AND THE REPAIR WILL COST OVER $900. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. ALSO IMPACTS THE SIFT INTERLOCK AND CRUISE CONTROL. THE OTHER DAY THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT DISENGAGE WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. I HAD TO TURN IT OFF BY THE SWITCH ON THE STEERING WHEEL. *TR

A FRIEND OF MINE HAS A 05 CHEVY MALIBU . I SEE AN INVESTIGATION WAS DONE ON THE 04'S #PEO4031 ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM . I HAVE PERSONALLY HAD IT GO OUT ON ME TWICE . AND I COULD BARELY STEER THE CAR AND ALMOST GOT INTO A WRECK...... I WEIGH 190 LBS. MY GIRL FRIEND WEIGHS 130 LBS.... PEOPLE ARE GOING TO GET IN WRECKS AND DIE BECAUSE OF THE EPS SYSTEM. NOTICED BOTH FRONT TURN SIGNALS/DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS YELLOW COVERS WERE MELTED. IT HAD DISCOLORED LIGHT LENS DUE TO APPARENT EXTREME HEAT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT SEPARATED FROM THE BASE AND CAME OFF TRACK. THE FAILURE OCCURRED IMMEDIATELY AFTER SHE SAT IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
MY 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU LS TURNING SIGNAL LIGHT DOES NOT SEEM TO WORK PROPERLY AT TIMES CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT I ACTUALLY CHANGE THE BULB ABOUT 4 TIMES IN ONE YEAR. TO MY KNOWLEDGE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE GOING THROUGH THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE "POWER STEERING" GOES OUT. GENERALLY RIGHT AWAY OR AFTER 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING. PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR 25000+ MILES. MY MECHANIC CLAIMS THE FIX IS IN THE STEERING COLUMN. CHEVROLET WANTS $200.00 TO "LOOK" AT THE PROBLEM AND WE WILL GO FROM THERE. I HAVE NOT HAD IT FIXED AS OF YET BECAUSE I AM NOT MADE OF MONEY. I AM THE ONLY ONE IN MY FAMILY THAT IS PHYSICALLY ABLE TO STEER THE CAR WHEN IT GOES OUT. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. IT DOES GO OUT ON THE HI=WAY AS WELL AS SIDE STREETS. THE FRONT END SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GOING TO FALL OUT ALONG WITH FEELING A METAL CLANKING SOUND AT 18000 MILES. I TOOK THIS TO BLACK CHEVROLET IN NASHVILLE WHICH WAS NOT THE SALE DEALERSHIP BUT ONE I HAD BOUGHT A TRUCK WITH AND WAS USING THEIR SERVICE THEY STATED THAT A RECALL MIGHT BE COMING SOON ON THE PROBLEM AND IT WOULD NOT PRESENT A SAFETY CONCERN. THE CAR WAS MY FATHERS WHICH DIED IN 2006 AND MY MOTHER WAS PUT IN ASSISTED LIVING IN 2008 SO I JUST FOUND OUT THE PROBLEM PLEASE HELP. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE RPMS WERE APPROXIMATELY 1500. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000. WE OWN A 2005 MALIBUMAX, RECENTLY THE RIGHT FRONT TURN SIGNAL BULB DIED SO I REPLACED IT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE OWNERS MANUAL. WHEN I OPENED THE LIGHTING UNIT TO REMOVE THE BULB I FOUND THE BULB HAD MELTED THE AMBER PLASTIC ENCLOSURE THAT SURROUNDS THE BULB. I THOUGHT THIS WAS ODD HOWEVER I THOUGHT MAYBE THE BULB HAS SHORTED OUT AND BURNED SINCE THE GLASS WAS SHATTERED. I THAN CHECKED THE RIGHT FRONT TURN SIGNAL WHICH WAS FUNCTIONING, I FOUND THAT THE BULB HAD MELTED THE AMBER ENCLOSURE AS WELL. THIS SEEMS LIKE A DEFECTIVE DESIGN THAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER WINDOWS, LOCKS, LINKAGES, AND IGNITION SWITCH SPORADICALLY BECOME INOPERATIVE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH AT THE COST OF $495. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY REPAIRS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED ITS MILEAGE. ALL REMEDIES AS OF MARCH 31, 2009 HAVE BEEN INSUFFICIENT IN CORRECTING THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
IT HAS BEEN NOTED THAT WHEN THE TEMP WARMS UP 92F+ THAT THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND WILL NOT RESET ITSELF. IT HAS BEEN NOTED THAT ONE THE TEMP GOES DOWN TO 90F AND I TURN THE CAR OFF THAT I HAVE POWER STEERING. THIS ISSUE STARTED LAST YEAR BUT DO NOT REMEMBER DATES. *TR

THE FIRST TIME IT WENT OUT IT AS 97F, THE NEXT TIME IT WAS 94F, WHEN THE TEMP COOLS OFF (90F) I HAVE NOTED THAT I CAN TURN THE CAR OFF AND THE POWER STEERING WILL COME BACK. I WAS SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR ANSWERS AND CAME ACROSS THE WEBSITE WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM. EVERYONE ON THERE DESCRIBED THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THEIR VEHICLES. AS OF YESTERDAY 05/28/08 I HAVE NOT INJURED MY SHOULDER DUE TO MANUALLY STEERING THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TO DRIVE APPROX. 50 MILES TO GET HOME FROM MY OFFICE. *TR
THE STEERING HAS A HEAVY CLUNK SOUND WHEN TURNING LEFT IN REVERSE, NO SOUND WHEN GOING TO THE RIGHT. THEN AT JUST OVER 50K MILES, THE STEERING ON THE VEHICLE STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH POWER WHILE TURNING TO THE RIGHT UNDER POWER, TO THE LEFT WAS JUST FINE. THE HEAD LAMPS ALSO HAVE GOTTEN SEVERELY CLOUDY WHICH LIMITS VISIBILITY DURING NIGHT TIME DRIVING. FRONT TURN INDICATOR LIGHTS ALSO HAD A PROBLEM WITH LOOSE SOCKETS, CAUSING THE LIGHTS TO SHORT OUT AND EVENTUALLY FAIL BECAUSE OF SPARKING RESIDUE ON THE CONTACTS. ALSO, FOR SOME REASON THE REAR WINDOW WIPER RANDOMLY TURNS ON FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE VEHICLE ALSO HAS A STARTING PROBLEM WHERE AT TIMES, THE VEHICLE WILL CRANK AND NOT START. LOOKING AROUND, QUITE A FEW FOLKS HAVE THAT PROBLEM AS WELL, WHERE SOME PEOPLE HAVE HAD TO SHORT OUT THE HOOD SAFETY SWITCH TO MAKE THE CAR WORK... NOW THAT IS CRAZY TO HAVE TO SHORT OUT SOMETHING TO START YOUR CAR. APPARENTLY THOUGH, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS SEVERELY SENSITIVE TO VOLTAGE ISSUES IN GENERAL, MORE SO THEN MOST VEHICLES ON THE ROAD.

POWER STEERING GOES OUT WHILE DRIVING AT LOW AND HIGHWAY SPEEDS. STEERING WHEEL BECOMES STIFF AND HARD TO TURN. MANUFACTURER REPLACED ELECTRIC STEERING COLUMNS ON VEHICLES BUT MINE WAS INELIGIBLE BECAUSE OF MILEAGE ACCUMULATED. *TR
MY STEERING GEAR WENT OUT AT 35,000 MILES THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY SO GM REPLACED IT. THE SAME PART IS GOING OUT AGAIN AT 56,000 CALLED THE DEALER, THIS PART ONLY HAS A 12,000/12 MONTH WARRANTY. MY MECHANIC SAYS HE HAS SEEN THIS ALOT ON THE 2005 CHEVY MAILBU MODEL. *TR
