THE FUEL GAUGE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. OK IN FILLED THE TANK UP TODAY AND PUT IN A LOCUS FUEL CLEANER (01/22/2021) ONLY BECAUSE IT WAS LIKE MY CAR WAS GASPING FOR GAS. MY FUEL GAUGE KEEPS MOVING UP IN DOWN. EVEN THOUGH I HAD JUST FILLED THE TANK UP IT WOULD CHIME DROP TO EMPTY ACCULERATE LIKE IT WAS HAVING A HARD TIME BREATHING SPIKE BACK UP TO THE FUEL LEVEL START DRIVING FINE THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN DROP DOWN TO E. NOW THE CAR IS HAVING A HARD TIME START LIK IT IS NOT GETTING ANY GAS AT ALL. I HAVE READ SEVERL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUSE
MY GAS GAUGE HASN'T BEEN WORKING FOR A FEW YEARS AND I WAS WONDERING IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THAT, IT SEEMS THAT A LOT OF CHEVY MALIBUS HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. AFTER FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH FUEL, THE FUEL GAUGE REFLECTED FULL AND THEN DROPPED TO EMPTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC IN JULY OF 2013 FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED THIS TIME. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
MY 2007 CHEVY MALIBU IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL GAUGE. THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY WHEN I HAVE A FULL TANK OF GAS THEN IT GOES UP TO FULL. WHEN I DRIVE FOR A WHILE THE GAUGE GOES DOWN TO EMPTY. ALSO THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT STAYS ON. SOMETIMES IT GOES OUT BUT COMES BACK ON. THE FUELS GAUGE IS ERRATIC DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THA TANK AT ANY GIVEN TIME. MECHANIC SAID IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX.
MY FUEL GAUGE GOES UP AND DOWN AT RANDOM TIMES. THE GAUGE GOES DOWN WHEN IDLING OR AT A STOP. THIS IN TURN CAUSES MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO TURN ON. WHILE THE GAS GAUGE WILL GO BACK TO ITS NORMAL POSITION AFTER A LITTLE BIT OF DRIVING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON. THERE ARE NO ISSUES WITH THE GAS CAP, BUT AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND IT TO BE A FAULTY LEVEL SENSOR. AS IT'S A REOCCURRING PROBLEM WITH MANY CHEVY MALIBU'S, I DON'T KNOW HOW THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL YET. GOOD THING I DON'T HAVE TO GET MY CAR TESTED UNTIL 2017 OR I WOULD NOT PASS EMISSIONS DUE TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON.
FUEL GAUGE NO LONGER FUNCTIONING. AFTER REFUELING, THE FUEL GAUGE BEGAN ACTING SPORADIC, AT TIMES IT WOULD INDICATE THAT FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY EVEN AFTER REFUELING. CONDITION CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AND PRESENTLY FUEL GAUGE JUST READS EMPTY. ALSO THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINE CODE P0463 IS ACTIVE.
MY GAS GAUGE ALWAYS READS EMPTY EVEN AFTER I FILL UP THE TANK. SO NOW MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON BECUASE IT BELIEVES MY GAS LOW. THIS HAPPENS IN MOTION, STATIONARY ON THE STREET AND ON THE HIGHWAY.

I JUST GOT MY 2007 MALIBU LTZ AND AFTER I FILL THE TANK WITH GAS I DROVE THE CAR FOR 10 MILES WHEN GAUGE INDICATOR SHOW THAT I HAVE AN EMPTY TANK SINCE THAT DAY I NEVER HAVE AN ACCURATE READING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON NOW I THINK ITS THE FUEL PUMP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BECAME INOPERABLE. THE FAILURE WAS PERSISTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
THE FUEL PUMP SENSOR HAS GONE BAD TWICE IN 4 YEARS. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE IT BOTH TIMES. WHEN IT GOES OUT, THE LOW FUEL LIGHT COMES ON WHENEVER THE TANK IS FULL AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON UNTIL THE TANK IS EMPTY.
WHENEVER I FILL UP MY GAS TANK THE GAS GAUGE WILL REGISTER IT AS FULL WHEN I START IT UP. BUT AFTER GOING 10 FEET THE CAR WILL CHIME AND THE FUEL GAUGE WILL GO FROM FULL TO EMPTY AND THE LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE AND I WILL GET A MESSAGE THAT SAYS LOW FUEL. WHEN I TURN MY CAR ON THE NEXT TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE AFTER DRIVING 30 MILES OR SO THE FUEL GAUGE WILL GO FROM EMPTY TO FULL A FEW TIMES AND THEN IT WILL READ CORRECTLY BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL STAY ON FOR A FEW MORE ENGINE ON AND OFF CYCLES AND THEN TURN OFF. WHEN IT GETS TO ABOUT 1/4 TANK IT WILL START ACTING UP AGAIN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME BACK ON. THE CRUISE CONTROL IS FAIRLY AGGRESSIVE WHEN IT IS GOING BACK TO THE SPEED IT IS SET AT AND THE CAR JERKS WHEN I REACTIVATE IT. I CALLED THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP TO ORDER THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL BRAKE LIGHTS MAY OR MAY NOT ILLUMINATE THE PERSON TOLD ME THAT SHE COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING ABOUT THE RECALL AND GAVE ME THE EXCUSE THAT IT WAS FAIRLY NEW AND I MIGHT NOT BE IN THE SYSTEM YET BUT I WAS SITTING IN FRONT OF MY COMPUTER LOOKING AT IT WITH MY OWN EYES. WILL CALL ASAP AND ASK ABOUT IT AGAIN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE A MECHANIC REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP SENSOR HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11E009000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AND PERFORMED NO REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE.THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I NOTICE MY WIRES SMOKE SOME TIMES WHEN I DRIVE, AND WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES I HAVE TO DO IT MORE THAN TWO TIMES AND I HAD THAT FIXED IN FEBRUARY 2013. MY FUEL PUMP WENT OUT AND I REPLACED IT( ONFEBRUARY 15, 2014). JUST ABOUT A WEEK AFTER GETTING MY CAR FIXED IT SEEMS TO HESITATE WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR. SINCE PURCHASING MY CAR IN AUGUST 2013, I HAVE HAD TO MAKE THREE FAIRLY COSTLY REPAIRS. EACH TIME THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THIS WAS A "KNOWN PROBLEM" FOR CHEVROLETS. THE FIRST WAS THE INTAKE VALVE. I HADN'T EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS BUT TOOK THE CAR IN FOR WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A SQUEALING BELT. THE SQUEALING TURNED OUT TO BE THE WATER PUMP. SINCE THAT WAS SECONDARY IN IMPORTANCE TO THE INTAKE VALVE, I HAD THAT REPLACED FIRST. FOLLOWED BY THE WATER PUMP A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER. THEN ABOUT A MONTH AGO, I WAS OUT OF TOWN AND MY CAR SUDDENLY WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO PARK OR REVERSE. IT WAS A WORN AND STRETCHED SHIFTER CABLE. HOWEVER GM SAYS MY CAR IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. *TR

EVERY TIME I FILL MY GAS TANK, MY GAUGE STARTS DROPPING TO EMPTY, I GET LOW FUEL WARNING AND THEN IT WILL GO BACK UP TO FULL AGAIN. THIS CHANGE HAPPENS REPEATEDLY WHILE DRIVING. NOW MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. CAR SEEMS TO BE OPERATING FINE OTHERWISE. VERY FRUSTRATING, AS I SEE THERE IS A RECALL ON REPLACEMENT FUEL PUMPS FOR THE 2007 MALIBU *WHICH I AM ASSUMING IS THE PROBLEM* BUT NOT ON ORIGINAL MANUFACTURED PARTS, WHICH IS WHAT I HAVE IN MY CAR. I JUST HIT 74000 MILES. FRUSTRATING THAT AN AMERICAN MADE CAR IS GOING BAD SO FAST. THIS WILL BE QUITE AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR FOR ME IF INDEED IT IS THE FUEL PUMP... *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. AFTER THE CONTACT FILLED UP THE FUEL TANK, THE FUEL GAUGE OPERATED NORMALLY UNTIL 3/4 OF FUEL WAS LEFT IN THE TANK. ONCE THE FUEL WAS AT 3/4, THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD DISPLAY AS EMPTY. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000. UPDATED 10/7/14*CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.
