SERVICE TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON AND ACCELERATION WAS DECREASED, COULD NOT GO OVER 50 MPH. TOWED TO DEALER & THEY SAY A MODULE CAUSED THE BRAKES TO STICK. SAID THEY HAVE TO REPLACE 2 BRAKE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS AND THE MODULE IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THEY'VE HAD IT FOR 9 DAYS NOW. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE POWER DOOR LOCKS AND WINDOWS HAVE FAILED, LOCKING THE CONTACT INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT AN ESCAPE. THE CONTACT HAD EXPERIENCED SEVERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO HAVE THE FRONT AND REAR DOOR ACTUATORS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WOULD PERSIST. IN ADDITION, THE ALTERNATOR, ENGINE LIGHT AND RADIO HAVE BEEN REPLACED DUE TO ELECTRICAL FAILURES. THE DEALER STATED THAT ALL OF THE FAILURES WERE RELATED TO AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,473.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKES EXCESSIVELY AND MADE A NOISE. THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY ONCE AND THE OTHER TIMES SHE HAD TO PAY THE REPAIR COST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE ELECTRIC STEERING ON MY 2008 CHEVY MALIBU LT 4DR. SEDAN(2.4L-4CYL)IS NOT RIGHT. IT SEEMS TO OVER STEER FOR EVERY CORRECTION THE DRIVER MAKES AND THUS CREATING A CONSTANT MOVING OF THE WHEEL TO KEEP A STRAIGHT LINE. THE ELECTRIC STEERING NEEDS SOME FIXING. THE DEALER SAID I NEED TO GET USED TO IT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT HEARD STRANGE NOISES WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. HE STATED THAT THERE APPEARED TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING/STEERING ASSEMBLY. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS SMOOTH IN THE BEGINNING AND THEN SUDDENLY JERKED TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT. THE WHEEL BECAME VERY LOOSE AS IF HE HAD NO CONTROL OF THE STEERING. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE FAILURE APPROXIMATELY FIVE TIMES, BUT COULD NEVER DETERMINE THE EXACT CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
MY SISTER AN I WAS ON A FLIGHT FROM LOS ANGELES, CA INTO DALLAS, TX AT THE AIRPORT WE RENTED A CAR FROM NATIONAL CAR RENTAL TO GO ONTO SHREVEPORT. LA TO SEE OUR SISTER WHO WAS IN HER LAST DAYS WITH HER FIGHT WITH CANCER. WE'RE ON I-20 NORTH DRIVING ALONG THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR STEERING WENT OUT OF CONTROL, SPEEDING GOING VERY FAST I COULD NOT STOP, THE WENT OVER INTO THE MEDIN OF I-20 STEAL TRAVEL FAST WENT ALL THE WAY OVER TO THE OTHER SIDE SOUTH I-20 STILL COULD NOT STOP NO BRAKE WE HIT A CAR ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE I-20 THAT WHAT KEEP US FROM GOING OFF I-20 COMPLETELY. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOY AT MY SISTER DIED ON THE SPOT OF THE CRASH, I WAS KNOT OUT AND THE HAD TO BE AIR LIFTED TO THE HOSPITAL IN DALLAS, TX SHE WENT TO THE MORDGE IN TYLER,TX I COULD NOT WALK, SHOULDER BROKE, ARM AND LEGS WE'RE IN BAD SHAPE. THE DAY I GOT OUT OF THE HOSPITAL THE SISTER WE'RE GO TO SEE DIE. THEIR NEVER WAS A OFFICER OF THE LAW TO COME AN TELL ME ANY THING IN REGARD TO THE CRASH, THE GM CHEVROLET 2008 MALIBU WE RENTED ACT JUST LIKE THE OTHER GM VEHICLES IN THE IGNITION RECALL, THE CAR ENGINE, GOING OUT OF CONTROL, STEERING I HAD NO CONTROL , POWERS BRAKES NOT WORKING I COULD NOT STOP, NO AIRBAGS DEPLOY AT ALL GM KNEW ABOUT THE DEFECT AND MY INJURIES AND MY SISTER DEATH DID NOT HAVE TO BE NOT ONLY THAT THIS MODEL WAS NOT IN THE RECALL I NEED SOME ANSWER AS TO WAY THE VERY SAME THING HAPPEN TO ME AND MY IN A FATAL CRASH IN THIS GM PRODUCT A INVESTIGATION NEED TO BE DONE AND I NEED AN WONT ANSWER TO THIS CRASH, MY WILL NEVER BE THE SAME I NEED TO KNOW WHY PLEASE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK AND THE VEHICLE MAY HAVE BEEN MISALIGNED. THE DEALER BALANCED THE TIRES AND STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER MAY HAVE JUST "THROWN TIRES" ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED A WEEK LATER AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY 6-7 TIMES, AND 12-14 TIRES HAVE BEEN PLACED ON THE VEHICLE. AFTER RETRIEVING THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER, SHE NOTICED THAT IT FUNCTIONED PROPERLY FOR APPROXIMATELY A WEEK BEFORE THE SHAKING RECURRED. THE SERVICE MANAGERS FROM THE DEALERS AS WELL AS THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE IMPALA AND MALIBU MODELS HAD A VIBRATION THAT WAS STANDARD WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 40-70 MPH. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 8,149 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 308. UPDATED 11/17/08 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS A VIBRATION AND ALIGNMENT PROBLEM. GM INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE FIXED. UPDATED 11/24/08. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE VEHICLE HAS UNIROYAL TIGERPAW TIRES. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE VALVE FELL INSIDE OF THE TIRE AND CAUSED IT TO FAIL. THE TIRE VALVE WAS REPLACED. THE MONITORING SYSTEM ACTIVATES AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURS. THE TIRE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 196 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 55-60 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THERE WAS A DECREASE IN THE BRAKE LINE PRESSURE AND THE STOPPING DISTANCE INCREASED. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL EXHIBITED EXCESSIVE WOBBLING, WHICH MADE STEERING DIFFICULT. THE FAILURES OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THEY STATED THAT THE COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM FAILED. THE TECHNICIAN REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON EIGHT SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER SIX TIMES WITHOUT ANY RESOLUTIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 700 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,000. UPDATED 03/18/09. *LJ THE CONSUMER STATED IF FELT AS THOUGH THE BRAKES WERE LOCKING UP. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I LEASED A NEW 2008 CHEVY MALIBU THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING. GREAT CAR, LOVED IT. THEN ON JAN 14TH WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY (IN THE FAST LANE) MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED ON A COUPLE OF TIMES. CONCERNED I DECIDED MAYBE I SHOULD PULL OFF THE ROAD. LUCKILY THERE WAS AN OFF RAMP CLOSE. AS I PROCEEDED TO THE OFF RAMP I REALIZED THAT THE ENGINE HAD SHUT DOWN SO I WAS NOT ABLE TO DO ANYTHING BUT COAST AS FAR OUT OF THE WAY AS POSSIBLE AND PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SINCE THAT DAY I HAVE BEEN DRIVING A RENTAL CAR, STILL MAKING MY CAR PAYMENT, AND HAVE NO IDEA WHEN I WILL BE GETTING MY REPLACEMENT CAR. THE DEALERSHIP/GM ARE GOING COMPLETELY THROUGH THE CAR THAT BLEW UP AND HAVE AGREED THEY WILL GET ME A NEW CAR, THAT IS MY ONLY OPTION SINCE THEY WON'T REFUND MY MONEY. THE BAD THING IS I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL GET MY REPLACEMENT. I AM STILL MAKING CAR PAYMENTS FOR A NEW CAR THAT I DO NOT HAVE. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN CHEVY AND PROBABLY WON'T BUY ANOTHER ONE FOR A LONG TIME. ONCE THIS LEASE IT UP I AM DONE. WE HAVE PURCHASED SEVERAL CARS FROM THIS DEALERSHIP, COURTESY. THIS INCIDENT HAS SHOWN ME HOW TERRIBLE THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS. THEY NEVER CALL ME, I HAVE TO CALL THEM TO FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON. THEY HAVEN'T OFFERED TO REIMBURSE MY CAR PAYMENTS. *TR
MY CAR WAS FLOODED FROM UNDERNEATH THE DASH BOARD OF THE FRONT SIDE OF DASHBOARD. MY CARPET FROM FRONT TO BACK GOT WET AND HAD A DEFECTIVE RIM. *TR
