TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOOSE AND THE RADIO TURNED OFF AND ON INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
AT 92,280 MILES THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED ON THE COMMUTE HOME FROM WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS FINE DURING THE TRIP TO WORK, WHILE IN MOTION ON THE RETURN HOME THE TRANSMISSION BECAME UNSAFE. THIS WAS ON A STATE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS RANGING FROM 35-50 MPH. THE GEARS WOULD NOT CATCH, RESULTING IN HIGH ENGINE REVS AND UNPREDICTABLE SPEED OF TRAVEL. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 30 MPH OR SO. THE SAME WAS TRUE FOR REVERSE GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS JUST OUTSIDE WARRANTY PERIOD. OUR LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER AT THE TIME, [XXX] WAS UNHELPFUL IN FIXING THE SITUATION, THEY WOULD NOT SCHEDULE A CONVENIENT APPOINTMENT, AND SUGGESTED WE TOOK THE CAR ELSEWHERE FOR A SOONER REPAIR. WE NEEDED THE VEHICLE FIXED ASAP, AND ENDED UP HAVING THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED BY A SPECIALTY SHOP AT $2800. BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY PERIOD, AND WE WENT TO A 3RD PARTY SHOP AND NOT A GM DEALER THE GM CLAIMS DEPARTMENT SAYS WE ARE OUT OF LUCK, NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR US. AFTER THE FAILURE, THE SERVICE ESC WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE ESC AND TRACTION WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE PEDAL FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT EVENTUALLY RESPONDED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS POWERED OFF AND DID RESTART, HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ESC SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE RECALIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED THE ENTIRE TIME UNLESS THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ACTUALLY BEING DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, AND SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). WHILE DRIVING 65 MILES PER HOUR IN A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM ON THE I94 TOLLWAY HEADED TO CHICAGO THE WIPERS CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP. I WAS COMPLETELY BLINDED AND IN THE 3RD LANE TO THE LEFT. I IMMEDIATELY PUT ON MY BLINKERS AND STARTED BEEPING MY HORN. MY DAUGHTER HAD TO STICK HER HEAD OUT THE WINDOW TO GUIDE ME TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD TO PULL OVER. WE WERE STRUGGLING THROUGH HEAVY TRAFFIC AND SCARED OUT OF OUR MINDS! AFTER WE FINALLY MADE IT TO THE SIDE, WITH MY 18 MONTH OLD GRANDDAUGHTER IN THE CAR WE HAD TO SIT THERE FOR MORE THAN 2 HOURS TO WAIT FOR THE RAIN TO STOP. AFTER RESEARCHING THE CHEVY FORUM WEBSITE I REALIZED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON CHEVY MALIBU'S OF VARIOUS YEARS AND A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! IT APPEARS THERE WAS A RECALL ON PREVIOUS YEARS OF CHEVY MALIBU WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR WORSE!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE RPMS RAPIDLY INCREASED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED TO SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PARKED ON THE SHOULDER WHERE HE SWITCHED FROM AUTOMATIC TO MANUAL AND PROCEEDED DRIVING. THE SHIFT LEVER FAILED TO SHIFT FROM SECOND TO THIRD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,924.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO WORK I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT IN THE REAR WINDOW WAS ONLY WORKING ON AN INTERMITENT BASIS. I HAD RECALL WORK DONE ON MY CAR IN OCTOBER OF 2014 UNDER RECALL 14V252000 OR CHEVY RECALL 13036 THEN IN MID JULY OF THIS YEAR MY CAR STARTED DOING WHAT THEY SAID THAT IT MIGHT DO IN THE RECALL LETTER. ON AUGUST 3 I TOOK MY CAR TO CARGILL CHEVROLET IN PUTNAM, CT. TO SEE WHY IT WAS DOING THIS I THOUGHT THAT IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THEY THEN REPLACED A SWITCH ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AT A COST OF $272.03 THAT THEY SAID WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THE NEXT DAY IT WAS DOING THE SAME THING SO I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY SAID THAT THE WHOLE BRACKET IN THE REAR WINDOW NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $402.40. THIS SEEMS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID NEITHER REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I WAS WONDERING WHAT YOUR OPINION WAS AND IF YOU HAD ANY OTHER REPORTS OF DEFECTIVE RECALL WORK ON THIS RECALL. THANK YOU
I WAS DRIVING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND THE VEHICLE JUST STOPPED WHILE GOING ABOUT 15-20 MPH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I ATTEMPTED TO PUSH THE VEHICLE. THE ABS HAS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. UNTIL GIVING GAS AND LETTING VEHICLE REV UP TO 4,000 RPM IT JUMPED INTO GEAR AND BEGAN TO DRIVE NORMAL AGAIN. NOW THE VEHICLE DRIVES BUT REVS AT 2-3 GEAR AND THEN JUST SLOWS DOWN, THERE WERE 13 FAULT READS FROM CPU WHICH WERE ALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FAULT AND CPU MALFUNCTION. THIS HAPPENED OUT OF NO WHERE AND STANDARD MAINTENANCE DOES GET PERFORMED. I AM TOLD MY WARRANTY EXPIRED 2 MONTHS AGO BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT'S THE MONTH IT WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I THOUGHT IT WENT OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN OFF THE LOT. I AM DUE TO PCS IN 56 DAYS TO A NEW DUTY STATION AND NOW MY FAMILY AND I ARE IN A BIND, I LOVE CHEVROLET BUT I AM AT A LOSS RIGHT NOW WITH A VERY UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT WILL DRIVE FINE AND OUT OF NO WHERE REV UP AND JUST STOP.
I HAVE HAD THE RECALL NOTICE (REPORT RECEIPT DATE: MAY 14, 2014 NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 COMPONENT(S): ELECTRICAL SYSTEM , ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL , EXTERIOR LIGHTING , SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC , VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL ) PREVIOUSLY TAKEN CARE OF BY OAKLEY CHEVROLET BUICK REPAIR SHOP ABOUT A YEAR AGO. THE PROBLEM HAS RETURNED , THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT OPERATE PROPERLY (THEY ARE ON WHEN THE BRAKE IS NOT APPLIED & WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKE THEY GO OFF). I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE SHOP AND THEY STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THAT PROBLEM, BUT THAT IT MAY BE THE BRAKE APPLY SENSOR. THEY HAD MY CAR ALL DAY, AND COULD NOT TELL ME WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.....I PICKED UP MY CAR AND NOW I AM TRYING THROUGH GM TO GET THE MATTER ADDRESSED. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED TO GET A SECOND OPINION. WHICH I WILL DO AND I WILL BE IN TOUCH. IN ADDITION TO THAT ISSUE, NOW THE DRIVERS SEAT BELT CHIMES THAT THE BELT IS NOT IN USE WHEN IT IS AND THE CAR IS DRIVING. ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE.

WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE, THE POWER ASSISTED FRONT SEAT MOVED FORWARD APPROXIMATELY 1/4 TO 1/2 INCH ON THE RIGHT PORTION OF THE SEAT. THIS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE AS WELL, E.G. IF TO THE LEFT THE RIGHT PORTION OF THE SEAT WOULD MOVE FORWARD, IF THE TURN WAS TO THE RIGHT THE RIGHT PORTION OF THE SEAT WOULD MOVE BACK. EVENTUALLY THE DRIVER'S SEAT SLOPED DOWNWARD TO THE RIGHT. THIS CREATED A HAZARDOUS SITUATION WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS AND NEVER ONCE HAVE I HAD A SEAT BREAK LIKE THIS. APPARENTLY THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH GM VEHICLES FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO READ. GM REFUSED TO ADMIT THAT THIS IS THEIR FAULT AND I AM OUT ALMOST A $1,000.00 TO HAVE THERE PROBLEM FIXED ...UPDATED 09/22/15 *BF

STARTED UP CAR TO GO TO WORK. THE CAR GAVE A AUDIBLE TONE AND I NOTICED I HAD NO POWER STEERING. FUSE TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED AND IVE RECENTLY PURCHASED THE CAR IN JUNE.

BACK IN APRIL OF 2013, THE WIPER STOPPED WORKING DURING HEAVY RAIN AND HEAVY WINDS. TOOK CAR TO LOU FUSZ CHEVROLET OF ST. PETERS, MO (WHICH IS WHERE THE CAR WAS FIRST BOUGHT IN JUNE 2010). MY WIFE AND I WERE ADVISED THAT WIPER TRANSMISSION/MODULE LOOSE AT MOTOR. THE WIPER MODULE ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. ON 6/30/14, DUE TO RAIN ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, THE WIPER STOPPED WORKING AGAIN, BUT DUE TO THIS OCCURRED OVER A YEAR AGO AND 12,000 WARRANTY EXPIRED, MY WIFE AND WERE TOLD IT HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN AND WE HAD TO PAY FOR IT (MILEAGE 92284). ON 6/19/15, WIPER AGAIN GOES OUT DUE TO HEAVY RAIN ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY (MILEAGE 113245). IT WAS THEN DETERMINED THAT THE TECH FOUND THE WIPER TRANSMISSION LINK BAR WAS BROKEN. MY WIFE AND I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH A CAR WITH WIPERS BREAKING DOWN LIKE THIS ONE HAS. UPDATE ON THE PROBLEM: THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR OCCURRED AGAIN TO WHERE IT WAS TAKEN TO THE LOU FUSZ ST PETERS, MO, LOCATION ON 5/22/17 WITH A MILEAGE OF 158455. THIS TIME MY WIFE AND I FIRST HAD TO PAY AROUND $400.00 TO REPAIR IT, AGAIN!! I HAVE ALREADY CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS ABOUT THESE ISSUE(S) TO NO AVAIL AT THIS TIME. MY CASE# WITH GM IS UNDER #[XXX]. THIS IS NOW A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES THE SAME ISSUE(S) WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ON THE SAME CAR!!! THIS NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED AND/OR A RECALL NEEDS TO OCCUR. WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE, THE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. AFTER SHUTTING IT SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT IT LATCHING, IT FINALLY STAYED SHUT. I HAVE NOW BEEN UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR SINCE. THE DOOR STILL WILL NOT OPEN. APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS AGO, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR DID THE SAME THING, AND I WAS UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE DOOR. I HAD TO CRAWL TO THE BACK SEAT TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPENS NOW, BUT STILL DOESN'T SHUT PROPERLY AT LEAST 2 TIMES A WEEK
IT FIRST STARTED ON JUNE 8TH I WENT TO THE STORE AND WHEN I CAME OUT I UNLOCKED MY DOOR WITH THE KEY BUT THE DOOR WOULDN'T OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE ON THE DRIVER SIDE. IT APPEARED AS IF THE LATCH WEREN'T LATCHING ON IN THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR PANEL. I CALLED AROUND AND FINALLY SOMEONE WAS ABLE TO GET ME IN BY PRYING INTO MY DOOR AND PRESSING THE UNLOCK BUTTON TO UNLOCK THE OTHER SIDE. I CLIMBED IN FOR THREE DAYS THEN OUT OF NOWHERE IT OPENED TO MY SURPRISED. I WAS GETTING READY TO TAKE IT IN TO SEE ABOUT GETTING IT FIXED WHEN I WENT TO GET IN THAT AFTERNOON IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. GETTING FRUSTRATED I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT CHEVY BUT IT WOULD TAKE 3 WEEKS TO GET IN SO I LEFT THE VEHICLE PARKED AND USED PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. A FRIEND OF MINE TRIED TO OPEN IT ON JULY 5TH 2015 AND IT STILL WONT OPEN. I HAVE AN NEW ALARM AND THE ONLY WAY I CAN DRIVE IT IS STILL BY CLIMBING OVER TO THE DRIVER SEAT ALMOST 2 MONTHS LATER. THERE'S A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUTH THE 2010 MALIBU DOORS NOT OPENING AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, BURNING FUMES EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS IN THE PROCESS OF PULLING OFF THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND PULL OVER SAFELY. WHILE PARKED, A POLICE OFFICER NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE TRUNK OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED. THE TRUNK WAS MANUALLY OPENED BY THE FIREMEN AND THEY NOTICED THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE FUSE PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,700.
I would like to register a complaint concerning my 2010 Chevy Malibu, which has suffered from intermittent power steering problems since at least 2015. On June 9th, 2015, for example, I took it (with 73,252 miles) to the dealership in Maryland (Ourisman invoice CVCS465753) who traced the problem to an aftermarket insurance plugin. I paid for the repair, which only partially solved the problem. In August 2015 and March of 2017, Chevy issued special coverage bulletin (15356) for power steering failures on 2010 Malibus. When I took it to the dealership including Pohanka in Chantilly, VA, on 19NOV17 (invoice 642014), with the problem, it should have been automatically serviced, based on my recent conversations with Chevy customer care. This didn't occur, however, usually because the dealer argued that it did not apply to my VIN. Recently, I discovered that indeed the Bulletin does apply to my VIN but I was told that it's now outside of the coverage window which ended in 2020. I called Chevrolet corporate headquarters in late May and the representative there with whom I spoke argued that it didn't apply to the part numbers in question (Pohanka produced codes of 19332846 and 23232310), however when I asked him which part numbers they were we discovered that one of the two matched (bulletin identified codes of 23232310 and 22837369). He then told me they both had to match. I then quoted the bulletin which called for replacing one or both and he begrudgingly referred me to a special handler. I finally spoke with that individual, and she said that I was 12 years out of coverage, I reminded her that my vehicle was only 12 years old and that the reason it was out of coverage was because multiple GM dealerships and corporate officials such as the man with whom I spoke in late May continuously stiff-armed or otherwise denied responsibility for the defect. I reported it to the CEO's office in early June but the rep failed to get back with me by the agreed upon date.
2010 MALIBU EXPERIENCES FLUCTUATIONS IN POWER/ RPMS WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO GET LOOKED AT SEVERALS TIMES, BUT MECHANIC COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO REPLICATE ISSUE. NOT SURE IF ITS RELATED TO THE FUEL SYSTEM, TRANSMISSION, OR MOTOR. EITHER WAY, NO ONE CAN DIAGNOSE THIS PROBLEM. WHEN ISSUE OCCURS, THE VEHICLE ACTS SLUGGISH (DOES NOT WANT TO GO) AND BOUNCES BETWEEN 2 & 3 ON MY RPM GAUGE. IT'S AS IF I WOULD PUSH THE GAS THEN LET OFF THE PEDAL (REPEATEDLY). AT FIRST THIS ONLY HAPPENED WHEN GOING UP A HILL, BUT HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT, AND IS NOW HAPPENING REGARDLESS OF GRADE. IT IS A DEFINATE SAFETY ISSUE, AS THIS HAS OCCURRED WHEN CROSSING AN INTERSECTION AND MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY. IT DOES HOWEVER SEEM TO BE RESOLVED IF I PRESS THE GAS ALL THE WAY DOWN (RPMS GO UP TO 4-5 ON GAUGE, THEN THE CAR FINALLY GOES) I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ONLINE, BUT NO RESOLUTION. THE NUMBER OF MILES THE CAR HAS DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A FACTOR, AS THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS WITH THIS CAR BEING BRAND NEW (BASED ON OTHER COMPLAINTS).THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY FOR MONTHS. THIS IS MY FIRST CHEVY- BOUGHT LAST YEAR. SEEMS TO HAVE A TON OF ELECTRICAL ISSUES. BOUGHT THE CAR UNKNOWINGLY WITH AN OPEN RECALL, TIRE SENSOR LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY FOR NO REASON, CAR SUDDENLY STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY AND WOULD NOT START A WEEK AFTER PURCHASED, STEREO LOSES POWER, POWER STEERING IS INTERMITTENT, THE PASSENGER DOOR SOMETIMES FAILS TO OPEN AND/OR CLOSE, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOSES POWER INTERMITTENTLY, THE EXHAUST IS RUSTING, ECT. I DID BUY A WARRANTY WITH THIS CAR, BUT BEING THAT NOTHING CAN BE DIAGNOSED, ITS A WASTE OF MONEY! I STILL OWE OVER $8000 ON THIS CAR, AND PAID BLUE BOOK VALUE! -CHEVROLET TOTALLY MISLEADS THEIR CUSTOMERS. NEVER AGAIN OH, AND I DID RECIEVE A RECALL LETTER ABOUT MY POWER STEERING, BUT THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL.

THEY STATED THAT THEY CAN'T SEE WHAT IS GOING ON UNLESS THE LIGHT IS ONE AND I ASKED FOR A TRANSMISSION FLUSH, SINCE IT WAS AROUND THE TIME THE BOOK DEEMED IT NECESSARY TO BE DONE, AND THEY STATED THEY NO LONGER PERFORM TRANSMISSION FLUSHES FOR THE 2010 CHEVY MALIBU AND IF I WANTED TO GO SOMEWHERE AND DO IT ON MY OWN THAT WAS UP TO ME. I WENT TO MULTIPLE PLACES WHO DOES TRANSMISSION FLUSHES AND THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT PERFORM THE TASK, ONLY THE DEALERSHIP COULD. SO NOW HERE I AM TODAY I PULLED INTO A DRIVE THRU AND MY CAR STARTED BUCKING REALLY BAD AND AS I STARTED DRIVING AGAIN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND NOW IT IS MAKING A CRUNCHING SOUND FROM THE ENGINE. I CANNOT DRIVE MY CAR IF IT IS UNSAFE LIKE THIS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO BECAUSE MY WARRANTY IS UP AS WELL..

EVERYTIME IT RAINS OR I GO THRU A CAR WASH WATER LEAKS IN THE CAR.. I'VE HAD THE SEAL REPLACED AND I'M STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM.. I'M CONCERNED THIS COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO OTHER PARTS OF MY CAR.

I WAS DRIVING ON SR-512 NEAR PUYALLUP, WASHINGTON. I WAS JUST MOVING TO THE RIGHT AT THE BASE OF THE FREEWAY ON-RAMP, WHEN MY ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT. AT NEARLY THE SAME TIME, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL ACTIVATED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. EACH OF MY WHEELS BEGAN BRAKING INDEPENDENT FROM ONE ANOTHER. THIS LATEST FOR APPROXIMATELY 10-SECONDS AND DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. THE POWER STEERING ALSO RETURNED TO NORMAL FOR A BRIEF PERIOD OF TIME. LATER THAT SAME MORNING, I WAS AT A STOP SIGN AND WAS WAITING TO TURN RIGHT. WHEN TRAFFIC CLEARED ENOUGH FOR ME TO BEGIN MY TURN I TURNED THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT. ALMOST AT THE SAME MOMENT THE STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN, AND I HAD TO FIGHT TO COMPLETE THE TURN. HAD I BEEN AN ELDERLY PERSON, WITHOUT SUFFICIENT STRENGTH TO FORCE THE STEERING WHEEL TO TURN, I WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY CRASHED INTO THE CARS WAITING TO TURN LEFT AT THE INTERSECTION IN QUESTION. THE STEERING PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED EVER SINCE AND GOTTEN MUCH WORSE OVER TIME. I'VE NOTICED IF I STOP THE CAR...TURN OFF THE IGNITION...AND RESTART THE CAR THE ELECTRONIC STEERING RESETS AND WILL BE FINE FOR UP TO 10-15 MINUTES. BUT THE PROBLEM ALWAYS RETURNS. I LOOKED ONLINE AND SAW THAT MALIBUS FROM 2004-2009 EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM AND WERE RECALLED. I WENT TO MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER AND ASKED IF THEY WOULD EXTEND THE RECALL PROTECTION TO COVER MY 2010 MALIBU AND I WAS ADVISED THEY WOULD NOT. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY PROBLEM, AND WHILE I CAN'T AFFORD THE $2,000 REPAIRS TO GET IT FIXED, I CAN'T IMAGINE TRYING TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE WHEN WINTER ARRIVES AND THE ROADS TURN ICY. THIS PROBLEM WOULD MOST CERTAINLY CAUSE AND ACCIDENT. I HOPE YOU CAN INFLUENCE CHEVROLET TO EXTEND THEIR EXISTING MALIBU RECALL TO COVER THE 2010 MODELS THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THOSE MODELS FROM THE PREVIOUS SEVEN MODEL YEARS. THANK YOU.

AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED, THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATED WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE HAD NOT OCCURRED UNTIL AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REMEDIED UNDER THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE TRANSMISSION FAILED ON THIS VEHICLE. IAW GM DOC# 2894053 TECHNICAL BULLETIN THIS IS CAUSED BY A BROKEN 3-5-R APPLY (WAVED) PLATE (507). THE MECHANIC STATED THIS PLATE IS TOO THIN FOR THESE VEHICLES AND WHEN THEY BREAK DOWN, THEY TOTALLY DESTROY A GOOD TRANSMISSION AND THE DRIVER WILL NEVER KNOW UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS POWERING DOWN TO SAFE MODE (GOING FROM 65 TO 40 IN LESS THEN A MINUTE) AND THERE IS NO REVERSE. THE VEHICLE GAVE A FALSE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODES AND NEVER SHOWED THERE WAS A INSIDE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. CODES WERE P0776 AND PI0780. IF IT WAS NOT FOR THE FACT THAT IT WAS NOT A BUSY DAY. I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN REAR ENDED AND THEN THIS 3-5-R DEFECT WOULD HAVE BEEN BLAMED ON THE CRASH. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THIS SHOULD BE REPALCE BY GM. THIS HAS COST ME $2,881.88, AND 3 LOST WORK DAYS. GM SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR SHODDY CHEAP PARTS.
MY 2010 CHEVY MALIBU LT 2.4L WON'T GO INTO PARK AND SHIFTER FEELS LOOSE. IF I PUT IT IN PARK POSITION IT SLIDES DOWN TO REVERSE. THEY RECOMMENDED TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE CHEVY DEALER...I TOOK THE CAR TO CHEVY DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THAT. ONLY RECALLS THEY HAVE IS #13036- #10085. THEY COULDN'T SEE MY CAR AT THE MOMENT DO TO BEING BACKED UP. SO I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA AND THEY TOOK IT IN. THEY TOLD ME THEY FOUND SHIFTER CABLE RIPPED AND INOP CAUSING VEHICLE NOT TO ENGAGE INTO GEARS PROPERLY. IT SEEMS THAT NHTSA SAFETY RECALL #12V460000 SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT WITH WHAT I READ ONLINE. *TR
THE POWER STEERING ON OUR 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU STOPPED FUNCTIONING RECENTLY, REQUIRING THE USE OF GREAT FORCE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE PARKED POSITION. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING RETURNED, BUT THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED FREQUENTLY TO THE LEFT WHILE DRIVING AND IDLING. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER WHICH DIAGNOSED AN "INTERNAL FAULT IN THE STEERING COLUMN," AND REPLACED THE ENTIRE STEERING SHAFT. THE DEALER REPORTED THAT THIS IS THE SAME SAFETY CONCERN AND THE SAME PART THAT HAS BEEN THE SUBJECT OF A SAFETY RECALL AFFECTING CHEVROLET MALIBUS THROUGH THE 2009 YEAR. NO RECALL HAS YET BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR THE 2010 VEHICLE YEAR, SO WE ARE OUT $1,000 FOR THE COST OF REPAIR. ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS SINCE THE 2ND WEEK IN APRIL I TRIED TO OPEN MY CAR DOOR USING MY KEY AS I TURNED, ALTHOUGH T2/15HE LOCK LOCKS AND UNLOCKS, THE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY TRIED FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND IT JUST BOUNCED BACK OPEN. I TOOK IT TO A CHEVROLET SERVICE CENTER HERE IN PA AT WHICH TIME THE DOOR LATCH CONNECTED WITH NO SIGNS OF AN ISSUE. THE SERVICE TECH LOOKED AND THE LATCH AND SAID TO ME, "IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN, JUST LIFT UP THE LATCH AND THERE SHOULD BE NO PROBLEM. YESTERDAY, I GO TO LUNCH, OPEN THE DOOR WITH THE KEY AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. I GO TO GET OUT OF THE CAR AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. I TRIED FOR ABOUT 1/2 HOUR. I ASKED A TECHNICIAN FROM MY JOB TO SEE IF HE CAN OPEN THE DOOR TO LET ME OUT AND IT DID NOT OPEN, I HAD TO CLIMB OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AND LEAVE ALL LOCKS SO I COULD GET IN THROUGH PASSENGERS SIDE TO GO BACK HOME. APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED WITH MECHANIC ON 4/22/15. TWO WEEKS AGO MY ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN GOING OFF AND ON. I'VE HAD OIL AND OTHER THINGS CHECKED TO NO AVAIL.

ESC AND TRACTION GRAPHIC AND TEXT ALARMS HAVE BEEN INITIALIZING INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS SINCE MARCH 2015. ON 4/7/2015 AND AGAIN ON 4/13/2015, AFTER STARTING THE CAR THESE TWO ALARMS INITIALIZED ALONG WITH THE POWER STEERING ALARM AND THERE WAS A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. IN EACH CASE, TURNING OFF THE ENGINE RESET THE ALARMS AND THE POWER STEERING RESTORED. LOSS OF POWER STEERING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS PARTICULARLY IN A CURVE OR WHILE MAKING A TURN COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I NOW FEEL VERY UNSAFE AND INSECURE WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. *TR
1 YEAR AGO MY CAR FLASHED ESC SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL REDUCE ENGINE POWER AND REDUCED MY SPEND TO 40MPH ON A BUSY INTERSTATE! CALLED GM STATED WHAT HAPPEN AND I KNEW THEY HAD A RECALL BUT OF COURSE MY CARS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. BROUGHT THE CAR TO A LOCAL GM DEALER SHIP TO PUT ON MACHINE TO SEE IF ANY CODES WOULD SHOW UP NOTHING CAME UP!!! I WAS TOLD THE MESSAGE WOULD HAVE TO BE SHOWING TO SERVICE VEHICLE. WELL HERE WE ARE A YEAR LATER WITH THE CAR IN THE SHOP BECAUSE MY CAR REDUCES ENGINE POWER WITHOUT WARNING STALLS AND MY ESC SERVICE TRACTION REDUCE ENGINE POWER CAME ON MESSAGE BOARD BUT DID NOT STAY AFTER I TURNED KEY OF COURSE BECAUSE IT SHUT THE CAR OFF AFTER 2-5 MINUTES. I HAVE VIDEO OF IT READING ESC TRACTION SERVICE BUT THAT DOES NOT HELP! CAR NOW NEEDS A NEW TIMING CHAIN AND HAS METAL IN THE OIL! MIND YOU OF I WOULDVE BEEN ABLE TO SERVICE THE ESC TRACTION CONTROL COULD THIS ALL HAVE BEEN AVOIDED? MY CAR WAS IN THE SHOP MAYBE 6 MONTHS AGO AND WAS PUT ON THE MACHINE TO GET CODES MINOR CODES CAME UP AND NOT THE ESC TRACTION CONTROL REDUCE ENGINE POWER. CALLED GM TODAY AND WAS TOLD MY MILAGE PLAYED PART IN THIS BUT I DOUBT THAT ONLY BECAUSE AT 68000 IT FLASHED ESC AND SHUT OFF ON ME WITHOUT WARNING SO NOW THEY WILL CONTACT THE SHOP. THEY NEED TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES IT IS A HAZARD TO BE ON THE ROAD! WE CAN NOT AFFORD A NEW VEHICLE CAR THIS CAR WAS BRAND NEW BUT HAS BEEN PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM ! HEADLIGHTS GO OUT ALL THE TIME AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN AFTER BEING FIXED 3 TIMES TRUNK DOES NOT OPEN DEFROSTER THATS A JOKE I COULD GO ON AND ON
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE ABILITY TO STEER SEIZED AND NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE STARTED NORMALLY AFTER APPROXIMATELY FIVE MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
OUR CHEVY MALIBU WAS BROAD SIDED ON THE RIDERS SIDE AT 10:10 AM ON THE FORTH OF APRIL, 2015. THIS WAS AT A YIELD INTERSECTION IN AIKEN, SC. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISSES WITH THIS CAR WITH VEHICLES COMING FROM THE LEFT. THIS ACCICENT WAS CLEARLY MY FAULT. HOWEVER, A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR IS THE WIDTH OF THE POST BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND THE DOOR ON THAT SIDE OF THE CAR. WE OWN A 2005 SIMILAR MALIBU AND THE WIDTH OF THAT POST IS MUCH NARROWER AND WE HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM SEEING VEHICLES COMING AT US FROM THE LEFT SIDE. HOWEVER, THE 2010 MALIBU HAS A MUCH WIDER POST BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND THE DOOR AND IS SUFFICIENT TO HIDE VEHICLES COMING FROM THE LEFT. MY WIFE HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT IS A DESIGN SAFETY FACTOR THAT SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY THE GENERAL MOTORS ENGINEERS. . I WOULD IMAGINE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY MORE SIMILAR ACCIDENT WITH OTHER DRIVERS OF THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR. HOWEVER I DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR DATA BASE TO CONFIRM SAME. OUR CAR WAS STILL ABLE TO BE DRIVEN AFTER THE COLLISION AND IS CURRENTLY IN A BODY SHOP BEING REPAIRED. HOWEVER, I AM NOT GOING TO BE COMFORTABLE DRIVING IT KNOWING THAT THIS HAZORDOUS CONDITION STILL EXISTS. THOUGHT I SHOULD PASS THIS INFORMATION ALONG TO YOUR AGENCY IN CASE OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED OF THE SAME CONDITION AND YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO CONVINCE GM THAT THEY HAVE CREATED A SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE DESIGN OF THIS VEHICLE. THE WIDTH OF THIS COLUMN ON THE 2005 MALIBU IS 4 INCHES. THE WIDTH OF THE COLUMN ON THE 2010 MALIBU HAS TO ABE A GOOD SIX INCHES OR MORE SUFFICIENT TO BLOCK THE VIEW FROM THE DRIVERS SEET OF ONCOMING VEHICLES FROM THE LEFT. MY CAR WOULDN'T MOVE AFTER SHIFTING INTO REVERSE. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED GM, BECAUSE MY CAR IS TILL COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAN WARRANTY. CAR GETS TOWED TO WEBB DEALERSHIP( VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE). THEY REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION ON THURSDAY 040/09. RECEIVE A CALL FROM [XXX] WITH WEBB CHEVY STATING AND I QUOTE. "[XXX] THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED SUCCESSFULLY, BUT YOU HAVE OTHER PROBLEMS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND THE CAR WILL NOT GET ANY POWER TO ACCELERATE. IN ORDER FOR US TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM YOU WOULD NEED TO HAVE ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE FOR 119.00". GET CALL TODAY FROM [XXX] SAYING OH WE DID THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND IT CAME BACK ITS THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS REPLACING ITS NO GOOD AND THE COST WILL BE 513.41 PLUS TAX. HOW COULD THIS BE ?????? WHY ISN'T THIS COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAN WARRANTY??? THE THROTTLE BODY IS RELATED TO THE ENGINE... I AM CONFUSED AND VERY UPSET AND DISAPPOINTED WITH GM POOR SERVICES AND VEHICLE AND WEBB CHEVY. AT 70 MPH THE CRUISE CONTROL SHUT OFF BY ITSELF AND THE SERVICE ESC LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. I ALSO NOTICED THE BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON WHEN FOOT WAS OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND SHUT OFF WHEN I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY IN THE PAST 2 WEEKS. I TOOK CAR INTO TURAN-FOLEY CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN GULFPORT, MS ON 4/08/15 AND THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE BPP FOR $242.25, WHICH I HAD THEM COMPLETE. THEY ALSO SAID THE PROBLEM MAY BE CAUSED BY THE EBCM-BPMU WHICH WOULD COST OVER $1100.00. THE "SERVICE ESC" LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN ON 4/09/15. I HAVE NOT NOTICED ANY PERFORMANCE ISSUES SUCH AS I HAVE READ IN OTHER FORUMS REGARDING DECREASED POWER. RECALL # 13036 WAS COMPLETED ON CAR 10/14/14 BY DANTIN CHEVROLET WHICH ACCORDING TO WHAT I HAVE READ WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX THE PROBLEMS I AM NOW HAVING. I MENTIONED THIS TO TURAN-FOLEYS SERVICE DEPARTMENT, BUT THEY SAID THEY CANNOT RE-OPEN A CLOSED RECALL. I WONDER HOW MANY TIMES MY BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE NOT WORKED PROPERLY AS I AVERAGE OVER 700 MILES A WEEK. THIS IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. PLEASE HELP! *TR
