WHILE LEAVING THE PARKING LOT, MY POWER STEERING ALERT CAME ON. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE MECHANIC, AND HE FOUND AN ERROR MESSAGE RELATING TO THE STEERING COLUMN IN MY CAR. HE SAID TO FIX THE PROBLEM, THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN, ALIGN THE WHEELS/STEERING, ECT. ALL AT A COST OF ABOUT $873. MY CAR ISN'T EVEN 5 YEARS OLD YET, AND I'M FORCED TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN? I SEE THAT GM HAS RECALLED THE 2004-2006, 2009 MALIBU MODELS, AND A NUMBER OF OTHER YEARS AND MODELS DUE TO FAULTY POWER STEERING. I DRIVE HOME TO SEE MY MOM WHO IS AT THE END OF LIFE WITH CANCER. THAT DRIVE IS ABOUT 130 MILES ONE WAY, MOSTLY INTERSTATE DRIVING AT 65MPH. IF I DON'T HAVE THIS FIXED, I COULD POSSIBLY LOOSE MY POWER STEERING, OR WORSE, LOOSE STEERING ALL TOGETHER, AND NOT ONLY INJURE OR KILL MYSELF, BUT OTHERS ON THE ROAD. SO I AM FORCED TO FIX THIS ISSUE, WHICH I FEEL SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALLS. I DON'T THINK I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY ALMOST $1000 FOR A CAR THAT ISN'T EVEN 5 YEARS OLD, THAT I PAID $25,000+ FOR. RESOLUTION FOR ME WOULD BE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE WORK I'M GOING TO HAVE DONE, AND HAVE THE 2010 MALIBU'S ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST. THANK YOU *TR
CAR WAS RECALLED FOR #13036 FROM ESTERO BAY CHEVROLET 9/05/2014 ESTERO FLORIDA.THE CAR IS STILL MALFUNCTIONING. TAKEN CAR BACK TO DEALER, THEY STATED THEY CHECK THE WORK DONE. THE CAR STILL SHIFT OUT PARK AND GETS STUFF IN PARK AND WILL NOT SHIFT OUT WITHOUT FORCING THE SHIFTER AND THE BRAKE. 9/18/2014 TAKEN CAR BACK TO DEALER AND TOLD THEM THE CAR IS STILL MALFUNCTIONING. THE SAID IT DID NOT DO IT FOR THEM. I STATED YOU NEED TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR AT LEAST HALF HOUR TO MALFUNCTION. I FEEL GM IS TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM THE CHEAPEST WAY POSSIBLE, BY PLACING A WASHER AND GREASE ON THE WIRE HARNESS. I FEEL THE ENTIRE BCM ( BRAKE STABILTY COMTROL MODULE) WIRE HARNESS SHOULD BE REPLACED. THEY HAVE HAS THE CAR FOR 2.1/2 DAYS ANC OULD NOT FIX IT. I HAVE PROCEEDS TO CALL GM ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THIS CAR IN 5 MONTHS BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEMS TO THE CAR. THIS CAR IS USED BY MY DAUGHTER AND MY INFANT GRANDSON. I NOW HAVE BEEN MAKING CAR PAYMENTS ON IT FOR 5 MONTHS AND COULD NOT USE IT. VERY DISAPPOINTMEND IN GM.. *TR
I WAS STOPPED TO WAIT ON ONCOMING CARS TO PASS TO TURN LEFT ONTO A STREET. AS I WAS ABOUT TO TURN WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT TURN.IF, MY STEERING WHEEL WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN TURNED ALREADY, AS I WAS GETTING READY TO TURN, I WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT ON THE RIGHT SIDE WHERE MY CHILD WAS SITTING. I HAD NO OPTION BUT TO DRIVE UP ON THE CURB. THIS IS THE SAME SITUATION AS THE 2008 AND 2009 MODEL MALIBU'S WHICH HAVE A RECALL ON THEM FOR STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM GM'S RECALL #14V15300 RECALLED 3/31/14. OBVIOUSLY THIS RECALL NEEDS TO BE ADDED TO THE 2010 MODEL SINCE IT IS STILL OCCURING. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE FREELAND CHEV. WHERE THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN DUE TO THE BAD TORQUE SENSOR. THIS COST ME 689.00 TO REPLACE, I FEEL GM SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS AND ADD THE 2010 MODEL MALIBU TO THE RECALL LIST SO THAT I CAN BE REIMBURSED FOR THEIR ERROR AND SO THEIR CUSTOMERS THAT PUT TRUST IN PURCHASING THEIR VEHICLES ARE SAFE. TO NOTE I HAVE CONTACTED AND SPOKE WITH SEVERAL REPS AT GM NONE OF WHICH OFFERED ANY TYPE OF HELP WITH THIS MATTER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN "SERVICE ESC", "REDUCED ENGINE POWER", "ESC OFF". THE CAR THEN HAD REDUCED POWER AND HAD TO HAVE A CODE RESET. THE CODE WAS P2135. ONE DAY IT HAPPENED 4 TIMES DURING MY 45 MINUTE DRIVE HOME. THE CAR LOSES POWER AND MAKES IT UNSAFE ON THE HIGHWAY ETC. *TR
I WAS TRYING TO REVERSE MY 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU LS WHEN I REALIZED I COULDN'T GET MY CAR OUT OF PARK. THE SHIFT CABLE IN MY TRANSMISSION IS BROKEN! THIS SAME SHIFT CABLE THAT WAS REPLACED DURING THE FIRST ROUND OF RECALLS BACK IN EARLY 2013 IS NOW BROKEN! *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE POWER, ENGINE WILL STOP RUNNING, AND VEHICLE WILL NOT RESTART. THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES NOW (SINCE LATE 2014) WE HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON ALL OCCASIONS. FIRST THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THEN THEY SAID IT WAS THE FUSE PANEL, AFTER IT LOST POWER AND QUIT RUNNING AFTER LESS THAN 10 MILES THEY SAID IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE COMPUTER. WE JUST GOT IT BACK SATURDAY 2/14/2015 AND TODAY 2/17/2015 IT HAPPENED AGAIN. LAST TIME THEY SAID IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH GROUNDS 104 & 107 AND DID A GLOBAL RESET. WE HAVE E-MAILED THE CEO OF GM AND SPOKEN TO AN EXECUTIVE FROM HEADQUARTERS. THEY DON'T SEEM TO COMPREHEND THE SAFETY ISSUES INVOLVED IN A VEHICLE THAT WILL LOSE POWER AT ANY TIME. PLEASE HELP US. IT IS AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. WE ARE UNSURE OF EXACT DATE/DATES OF EACH INCIDENT. THE DATE STATED ABOVE IS AN ESTIMATE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
FOLLOWED SAFETY RECALL LETTER INSTRUCTIONS TO SCHEDULE INSTALLATION OF BODY CONTROL MODULE PART KOOZ CHEVY DEALER IN WHITE MARSH, MD SAYS THEY DO NOT HAVE PART AND WILL TAKE 3 WEEKS TO ORDER I OBJECT TO THIS FAILURE SINCE LETTER SAYS TO ACT QUICKLY SINCE I AM AT RISK OF CRASH. *TR
WHEN I WENT TO START THE CAR IT STARTED SPUTTERING. IT THEN HAD THE SERVICE ESC LIGHT COME ONE. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WENT TO RESTART IT. IT STARTED SHAKING AND SPUTTERING AND THEN SAID TRACTION CONTROL. I WENT TO TRY AND DRIVE IT AND IT WOULD NOT LET ME GO OVER 10 MPH. IT ALSO WOULD HESITATE FOR ABOUT 3 TO 4 SECONDS. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE CHEVY PLACE. WHEN I GOT HOME I HAD A LETTER IN THE MAIL DISCUSSING A RECENT RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. IT SEEMED TO HAVE ALL THE SAME ISSUES THAT I HAD EXPERIENCED IN THE LETTER. WHEN THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME THE NEXT MORNING THEY STATED THEY BELIEVED IT WAS SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE RECALL CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THEY STATED THEY WOULD DO THE RECALL AND LET ME KNOW. AFTER THEY DID THE RECALL THEY STATED IT STILL DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT MIGHT BE A FUEL ISSUE. I AM WAITING FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST, BUT I FIND IT VERY COINCIDENTAL THAT THERE WAS A RECALL AND MY CAR IS ACTING UP, BUT EVERYONE IS TELLING ME THE TWO ARE NOT RELATED. THEY ARE ALSO TELLING ME IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND I AM HAVING TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED. IT SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE ISSUES WITH LESS THAN 55,000 MILES. *TR
WHILE GOING THRU A TURN THE INPUT SHAFT CAME OUT OF THE RACK AND PINION CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING. WHEELS WENT STRAIGHT CAUSING THE CAR TO JUMP THE CURB AND STRIKE BOULDERS IN THE LAND SCAPE. *TR
SHORTLY AFTER GETTING THE RECALL REPAIR FOR THE ABS LIGHTING ISSUE IN LATE AUGUST THE "SERVICE AIRBAG" LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES HARD. AFTER A WHILE IT WENT OFF AND STAYED OFF UNTIL A FEW DAYS LATER WHEN A BACK SEAT PASSENGER CLOSED THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR HARD. IT STILL TO THIS DAY CONTINUES TO GO ON & OFF, SOMETIMES WHEN I HIT A BUMP, OR WHEN I 1ST START THE CAR. I CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD OUR CAR WAS NOT UNDER RECALL FOR THE RECENT AIRBAG ISSUE AND THAT FOR THEM TO INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE WOULD REQUIRE THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. AND.. SINCE THE WARRANTY ON THE AIRBAG WAS ONLY 3YRS/36,000 MILES THE CHARGE TO ME WOULD BE 1HRS TIME ABOUT $125.00. I FIND THIS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND WILL ALSO BE FILING A COMPLAINT WITH GM. *TR
WENT INTO SHOP FOR RECALL OF THE RECALL ID # 103647 - ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL ON 2010 CHEVY MALIBU. WHEN I GOT MY CAR BACK FROM SHOP. I NOW GET SERVICE AIR BAGS WARNING LIGHT ALL THE TIME ON MY DASH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE CONTACT TO USE EXCESSIVE FORCE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
GASOLINE LEAKS FROM TOP OF GAS TANK. EXCESS FLOWS DOWN THE SIDE ONTO TANK SKID PLATE AND EXHAUST PIPES. REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP IMMEDIATELY AT $700 COST. THE LEAK APPEARED TO BE COMING FROM THE FUEL LINE COMING DIRECTLY OUT OF THE FUEL PUMP. NO GAS ODOR HAS BEEN DETECTED SINCE REPAIR. I FOUND OUT THIS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE FOR OTHER MALIBU OWNERS. TO ME, HAVING GASOLINE LEAKING ONTO EXHAUST PIPES AND IT BEING A COMMON OCCURRENCE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY NHTSA. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD ON AND ONLY THE AIR BAG IN THE STEERING WHEEL DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BROKEN HIP, NECK AND FOOT AND BACK INJURIES AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED CHEST, BACK AND SHOULDER INJURIES AND BOTH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. BOTH VEHICLES WERE DESTROYED. THE FAILURE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND CAUGHT ON FIRE WHEN IT WAS NOT RUNNING. THE VEHICLE WAS IN USE EARLIER IN THE DAY. THE FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD AND BURNED THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE CAR AND CAUSED SOME INTERIOR DAMAGE AS WELL. *TR

THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.

DEALERSHIP STATES THAT ALL THEY HAVE TO FIX ACCORDING TO RECALL 13036 IS THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, ILLUMINATION LIGHT FLASHING OFF AND ON SAYING SERVICE SOON, ALTHOUGH MENTIONED IN RECALL LETTER, IS NOT INCLUDED AND WE MUST PAY OVER $350 TO REPAIR TO PROBLEM. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE INPUT TORQUE SENSOR FAILED AND THE STEERING SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14E044000 (STEERING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,861.

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V064000 (STEERING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE 1 WEEK PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. RECALL #13036. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED WHEN MY BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK AND WATCHED MY STABILITY CONTROL AND TRACTION WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. I CONTACTED GM AND WAS TOLD THAT NO REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. GM ALSO STATED THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR TOWING OR A RENTAL EVEN THOUGH IT IS A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN AND/OR MANUFACTURE OF THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR 4 DAYS AT THIS POINT AND GM STATED THAT NO REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE YET AVAILABLE. MY CAR IS A SHINY PEICE OF JUNK THAT I CAN PAY FOR YET CANNOT DRIVE BECAUSE OF THE DEFECT. I AM A VETERAN AND I AM ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED. ALL OF THE ABOVE PROBLEMS ARE DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE DEFECTIVE PART. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO STATED THE AT THE THROTTLE BODY AND CONNECTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH IN A HEAVY RAINSTORM, THE HAZARD LIGHTS FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I NOTICED WHILE DRIVING ONE MORNING MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED, BUT I WAS NOT DEPRESSING THE BRAKES. WHEN I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OFF. AT THIS VERY SAME TIME WHEN I TRIED TO SET THE CRUISE CONTROL, IT WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO DO SO. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON-AGAIN, OFF-AGAIN ISSUE. SOME DAYS IT WORKS CORRECTLY BUT OTHER DAYS THE SAME PROBLEM PERSISTS. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND SAW THAT THERE WAS A RECALL BY GM FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM, RECALL ID# 14V252000, BUT WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CHECKED MY VIN # THEY SAID THAT MY CAR WAS NOT UNDER THE RECALL, AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE MY CAR AND SEE IF IT HAPPENS TO THEM IN ORDER TO FIX IT. MY 2010 MALIBU IS NOW MAKING A CREAKY/CLUNKY NOISE WHEN STEERING INTO A TURN. IT IS MOST NOTICEABLE AT SLOW SPEEDS. I KNOW THE POWER STEERING MOTOR HAS BEEN AN ISSUE IN PRIOR MODEL YEARS. THIS VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY UNDER THE RECALL FOR THE BRAKE LIGHT / TRACTION CONTROL / CRUISE CONTROL ISSUES UNDER RECALL # 13036. THERE HAS BEEN NO DIAGNOSIS DONE ON THE POWER STEERING AS I WILL BRING THIS TO THE DEALER'S ATTENTION WHEN I BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE KNOWN RECALL REPAIRS. WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AS DID THE ESC WARNING LIGHT. I TRIED TO ENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL BUT IT WOULD NOT WORK. WE STOPPED AT A REST AREA AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES. WE RESUMED OUR TRIP WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED AND TRAVELED FOR APPROX. 10 MINUTES. AT THAT POINT THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK. EVERY TIME WE DRIVE THE CAR NOW, THE WARNING LIGHTS NOW COME ON WITHIN A QUARTER MILE. I ALSO OBSERVED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD (WHEN ITS DARK OUTSIDE) BUT WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OFF. I FEEL THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS IF SOMEONE IS FOLLOWING BEHIND YOU AND THINKS THAT YOU HAVE LET OFF THE BRAKES BUT YOU ARE ACTUALLY SLOWING DOWN. I DON'T THINK THAT THEY HAVE AN APPARENT FIX FOR THIS ISSUE AS I SEE SEVERAL REPORTS FROM VEHICLES RANGING FROM 2008 TO 2012 ONLINE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. IT IS INTERMITTENT. WHEN YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AFTER THIS OCCURS THE LIGHTS WILL GO OFF. SOMETIMES ONLY FOR A SHORT PERIOD OTHER TIMES FOR A WEEK WEEKS BEFORE IT COMES ON AGAIN.
