I HAVE BEEN WAITING ON THE INTAKE ROCKER ARM CONTROL VALVE SINCE DECEMBER 2019. APPARENTLY GM HAS DISCONTINUED THIS PART FOR MALIBUS AND IMPALAS. THEY ARE SAYING IT IS ON BACK ORDER. I AM STILL PAYING ON MY VEHICLE AND THIS SHOULD BE APART OF A RECALL. THERE IS THOUSANDS OF US THAT IS WAITING ON THIS PART AND THIS IS SO UNFAIR. I AM TERRIFIED THAT SOMETHING ELSE IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO MY ENGINE IF THIS IS NOT FIXED SOON.
I TOOK MY CAR TO TWO DEALERSHIPS. MY CHECK EBGINE LIGHT I ON. THEY SAID I NEEDED A ROCKER ARM VALVE SOLENOID . PART NO. 1633613 BUT CANNOT SEEM TO FIND RHAT PART.
WHILE DRIVING MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. PLUGGED IT IN TO SEE WHAT CODES IT WAS READING BOTH O2 SENSOR AND WELL AS AS CAM SHAFT,CHECK ENGINE LITLGHT IS STILL ON SENSING THE SAME CODES. WENT TO 2 DIFFERENT GARAGES AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIND THE ISSUE. I'M UNABLE TO GET MY CAR INSPECTED DUE TO THE ISSUE.
MY VEHICLE SHOWS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THE DEALER MADE A CHECK AND FOUND PROBLEMS WITH THE ROCKET ARM VALVE PART NUMBER 12633613 (ENGINE VARIABLE TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE). THAT WAS IN DECEMBER 2019, THEY REQUEST THE PART TO GM, AND SO FAR THE PART IS UNAVAILABLE. I TRIED TO BUY IT THROUGH INTERNET AND FRIENDS IN OTHER STATES, AND NO AUTO PARTS HAVE THIS PART. THIS PART IS NECESSARY BECAUSE CONTROL THE TIMING OF THE ENGINE. MY CAR CAN GET RUIN IF I DO NOT CHANGE THAT PART. GM IS BEING IRRESPONSABLE TO HAVE THIS IMPORTANT PART OF THE CAR AVAILABLE.
I OWN A 2014 CHEVY MALIBU. IT CURRENTLY AS OF TODAY (1/8/2020) IS IN ITS EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE PART MY VEHICLE NEEDS TO FUNCTION AGAIN IS A: INTAKE ROCKER ARM OIL CONTROL VALVE, PART# 12633613. THIS PART IS NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION BY GM AND ACCORDING TO THEM NO ONE MAKES THE PART SO THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIX THE VEHICLE. THE ONLY REMEDY THEY OFFER IS TO TAKE THE BROKEN CAR AS A TRADE IN WHEN I PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE FROM THEM. THEY REFUSE TO OFFER ANY SORT OF REFUND OR REPLACEMENT. THE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN 2014. IT'S NOT AN OLD CAR.
WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 55 MPH ON A STATE ROAD, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THE CAR SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 30 MPH IN GIVING GAS THE ENGINE RAMPED UP BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. PULLED OVER AND STOPPED. TURNED OFF THE IGNITION WAITED A FEW MINUTES THEN TURNED THE IGNITION ON AGAIN. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS NEEDING TRANSMISSION WORK. IT IS AT THE DEALER NOW 12/13/19. THE CAR HAS 92,000 MILES ON IT BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW IN 2014.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET MALIBU ECO. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER APPROXIMATELY AN HOUR. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
CAR TURNS OFF THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND FOUND OUT THE ROCKER ARM SOLENOID VALVE IS NOT WORKING I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO I HAVE NOT HAD THE CAR NOT EVEN ONE YEAR. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR IT TO TURN OFF IN THE HIGHWAY LUCKILY IT WAS ON THE STREET WHEN THE CAR JUST TURNED OFF
MY CAR HAS BEEN IN NEED A GM PART FOR ALMOST EIGHT MONTHS. THE PART # IS 12633613. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH CHEVY REPRESENTATIVES OVER A DOZEN TIMES. DESPITE DISCONTINUING THE ENGINE THAT REQUIRES THIS PART AND THE MANY COMPLAINTS AND PEOPLE WHO CAN'T OPERATE THEIR VEHICLES WITH THIS ENGINE, CHEVY/GENERAL MOTORS REFUSES TO DO A RECALL. THE FAULTY PART CAUSES CARS TO JERK AND SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. BEFORE REALIZING THE CAR WASN'T FULLY OPERABLE, I WAS ALMOST HIT DUE TO MY INABILITY TO MOVE FORWARD. I HAVE INVESTED IN CHEVY AND I HAVE TAKEN GREAT CARE OF MY CAR. ONE SMALL SOLENOID ROCKER ARM SHOULD NOT KEEP ME FROM ENJOYING THE VEHICLE I HAVE PURCHASED. ASIDE FROM THE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS LOSS FROM THE CAR ITSELF, I SPENT HUNDREDS AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES. I NEED SOME REMEDY IN THIS CASE AS CHEVY WILL NOT ADMIT THE PART HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED (ALTHOUGH A REPRESENTATIVE DID ADMIT TO THIS) DESPITE THEIR STATED REQUIREMENT OF PRODUCING OR MAKING AVAILABLE COMPARABLE PARTS FOR AT LEAST 10 YEARS. I NEED HELP AND I HOPE CHEVY IS HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE WILLFUL CONSUMER VIOLATIONS. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON,STAYED ON,TOOK CAR TO BE DIAGNOSED,ROCKER ARM SOLENOID VALVE DEFECT,CAR HAS ONLY OVER 55000 MILES ON IT,RECOMMEND NOT TO DRIVE TO AVOID FURTHER DAMAGE,PART NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE,CAR BEEN PARKED SINCE LATE NOVEMBER.CAR WAS DRIVEN ON FREEWAY WHEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON,NOT KNOWING IF THE CAR WAS GOING TO MAKE IT WITHOUT CAUSING DAMAGE TO ENGINE OR STALL BEFORE WE COULD GET TO A MECHANIC SHOP.
THIS CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH THE AUTO STOP/AUTO START FEATURE. MEANING WHEN YOU COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR SHUTS DOWN, THEN WHEN ITS TIME TO GO BY RELEASING THE BRAKES IT WILL RESTART AND MOVE AGAIN. WITH MY MALIBU IT WILL AUTO STOP CONSTANTLY AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN IT WON'T RESTART FOR SOMETIMES MINUTES AT A TIME. HOLDING UP TRAFFIC BEHIND ME AND CREATING CHAOS. I HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK MODE, PULL OUT THE KEY, REINSERT THE KEY AND TRY TO START IT. SOMETIMES IT RESTARTS AFTER ONE TIME OF DOING THIS, BUT MOST OF THE TIME IT TAKES SEVERAL TRIES TO FINALLY GETTING IT STARTED. IT STARTED DOING THIS ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO AND SEEMS LIKE ITS GETTING WORSE. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, AND AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND THOSE OF OTHERS IN MY CAR AT THE TIME. PLEASE INVESTIGATE INTO THIS MATTER, THANK YOU.*
ON 11/19/19, I WAS DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET (25 MPH) WHEN THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON IN MY 2014 CHEVY MALIBU. THE CAR IS DRIVEABLE, BUT AT SPEEDS HIGHER THAN 35 MPH, THE REDUCED POWER IS NOTICEABLE. I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP (MATTHEWS HARGREAVES CHEVROLET IN ROYAL OAK, MI) FOR REPAIR. THEY IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS BEING THE ROCKER ARM SOLENOID VALVE, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIX IT BECAUSE GM IS NOT CURRENTLY MAKING THE PART AND IT IS UNAVAILABLE THROUGH AFTERMARKET. FOR NEARLY A MONTH, I HAVE BEEN STUCK WITH A CAR THAT IS ONLY BARELY USABLE. ON COLDER DAYS, MY CAR HAS A MORE DIFFICULT TIME WITH EVEN HANDLING LOW SPEEDS AND I'M TERRIFIED THAT IT'S GOING TO BECOME COMPLETELY INOPERABLE BEFORE THIS IS FIXED. THE DEALERSHIP I TOOK IT TO CURRENTLY HAS 6 VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT ARE IN NON-DRIVEABLE CONDITION. THE DEALER HAS ALSO INFORMED ME THAT OVER 50 CARS AROUND THE COUNTRY ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. GM HAS BEEN CONTACTED ABOUT THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY HAVE REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP DESPITE BEING AWARE THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 CHEVROLET MALIBU. APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE, FLAMES WERE PRESENT UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS NOT DETERMINED. CANNON MOTORS (69900 HIGHWAY 82 WEST, GREENWOOD, MS) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
BOUGHT CAR BRAND NEW FROM THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN 2015. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WITHIN A YEAR. CODE 305F. REPLACED AUX BATTERY. 1 YEAR LATER, CODE 305F, AGAIN. REPLACED AUX BATTERY UNDER WARRANTY. ANOTHER CODE POPPED UP..THIS WAS A SENSOR; REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. NOV 2018, AGAIN, CODE 305F. ANOTHER AUX BATTERY REPLACED. HERE WE ARE, DEC 2019, CODE 305F. DEALERSHIP STATES SINCE WE'VE REPLACED WITH A GEL BATTERY AND BOTH BATTERIES ARE READING GOOD BUT RECHARGE, THAT IT IS THE COMPUTER MODULE ON TOP OF THE BATTERY WHICH CONTROLS THE AUTO STOP/START AND THE REMOTE START. IN THE ALMOST 5 YEARS I HAVE HAD MY CAR, IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR THIS PROBLEM MORE THAN 3 TIMES NOW AND 2 TIMES FOR HUB ASSEMBLY THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE OUT AT THE LOW MILEAGE OF 42K. THERE IS A CLEAR PROBLEM WITH THIS 305F AND THE HUB ASSEMBLY AS CHEVY HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE 305F AND MANY CHEVY MALIBU OWNERS HAVE MADE SEVERAL HUNDRED COMPLAINTS ACCORDING TO ONLINE SOURCES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE CAR WILL "DIE"(SHUT OFF COMPLETELY) WHILE AT A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT WHICH COULD RESULT IN A REAR END.THIS CAR, ALONG WITH THE OTHER 2014-2015 ARE BEING TREATED AS THOUGH THERE IS NO PROBLEM. I'M SICK OF SPENDING $140.00 ON AN AUX BATTERY AND WASTING TIME FOR SOMETHING THAT THEY KNOW IS WORTHY OF A RECALL BUT ARE TO CHEAP OR JUST DON'T CARE ABOUT THE BUYER. AS I WRITE THIS, I AM SITTING AT STERLING MCCALL CHEVROLET IN HOUSTON FOR THE WONDERFUL 305F CODE. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! I WAS SITTING AT A LIGHT WHEN THE AUTO SHUT OFF/START KICKED OFF AND BACK ON WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO LUNGE FORWARD. THAT'S WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED THE FIRST TIME. I DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE I HAVE TO AND STILL PAYING IT OFF, BUT I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN IT AND IT PUTS ME AND MY FAMILY ALONG WITH OTHER DRIVERS AT RISK. I HAVE ABOUT 2 YEARS LEFT ON MY PAYMENTS.

THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND AT TIMES THE CAR LOSES POWER! TRYING TO GET PARTS SINCE OCTOBER 2019 WAS TOLD NO ONE IS CONTRACTED TO MAKE THE PART AND GM HAS NOT BEEN HELPFUL !!
REQUEST #282669 COMPLAINT15 APRIL, 2020 TRACKING # 11321107 THE FOLLOWING COMPLAINT REFERENCES MY 2014 CHEVY MALIBU, ECOTEC 2.5L DOHC ENGINE, VIN #[XXX]. PURCHASED 9/15/2014 FROM GEORGE HAHAS CHEVROLET IN WILDWOOD, FL. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH ~23,300 MILES ON IT. IN OCTOBER 2019, THE VEHICLE BEGAN RUNNING ROUGH AT 20-25 MILES PER HOUR (ODOMETER: ~21,000) AND THE VEHICLE ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. THE ENGINE GAS MILEAGE ALSO DECREASED. I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ROCKER ARM VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED (UNDER WARRANTY). IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE CLEANED DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE CARBON BUILD UP DUE TO THE MALFUNCTIONING PART. THIS CLEAN-UP WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE WARRANTED PART. I WAS TOLD IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL THE ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN TO FLASH. AT THAT POINT I WAS TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED AS IT WOULD NO LONGER BE DRIVABLE. THIS REPAIR WAS ATTEMPTED DURING THE GM WORKER STRIKE AND THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. AFTER THE STRIKE, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FROM GM OR ANY AFTERMARKET MANUFACTURER. AFTER WAITING UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR, I AGAIN CONTACTED NAHAS CHEVROLET AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE, AND GM HAD NO PLANS TO PRODUCE IT. FURTHER, A WARRANTED PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FROM ANY MANUFACTURER. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT OVER 20 VEHICLES AT THIS SINGLE DEALERSHIP NEEDED THIS SAME PART. ON MARCH 2, 2020 I CONTACTED GM CONSUMER SERVICES (CASE # 9-5847264087). THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WERE INFORMED THAT GM HAD NO PLANS TO MAKE THIS PART AND KNEW OF NO AFTERMARKET MANUFACTURER WHO COULD SUPPLY A WARRANTED PART. THEY TOLD ME OF THREE UNWARRANTED MANUFACTURERS, BUT IF THE PART EVER CAUSED FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, THE REPAIRS WOULD NOT BE UNDER WARRANTY. VEHICLE HAS HAD FAILED OIL ARM ROCKER VALVE (PART# 12633613) SINCE OCTOBER 2019. GM HAS ADVISED THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN THIS PART WILL BE AVAILABLE, AND HAS NO OTHER RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE EXCEPT TO WAIT AND THAT THEY ARE SORRY FOR INCONVENIENCE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED MEANS IT WILL NOT PASS EMISSIONS TESTING IN CT (OR STATE INSPECTIONS IN A LOT OF OTHER STATES). CAR IS NOT USABLE BECAUSE OF THIS, SOME POWER LOSS ISSUES BEING EXPERIENCED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. GM HAS NOT OFFERED ANY RESOLUTION OTHER THAN $2500 OFF A NEW GM VEHICLE. WILL NOT ASSIST FURTHER AND STATE THAT THERE IS NO ETA FOR REPLACEMENT PART. CAR NOT SERVICEABLE AND GM WILL NOT RESOLVE.
I HAVE A 2014 CHEVY MALIBU LS. ABOUT A YEAR AGO WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT THE CAR ENGINE SHUT STOPPED WORKING, AND ALL THE LIGHTS CAME OFF. I HAD TO GET THE ASSISTANCE OF A POLICE OFFICER TO CONTROL TRAFFIC AWAY FROM MY CAR, UNTIL THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED AND TOWED IT TO THE SHOP. I WAS TOLD THAT THE AUXILIARY BATTERY WAS BAD, AND HAD IT REPLACED. THE CAR IT WORKED WELL. IN AUGUST OF THIS YEAR THE CAR ENGINE BEGAN SHUTTING OFF, WHILE I WAS DRIVING, AND SOMETIMES AFTER IT WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT. I HAD THE BATTERIES CHECKED, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE BAD. I LIVE IN AZ, AND THE WEATHER HERE IS VERY HOT, BOTH WERE REPLACED ON AUGUST 27TH AND 28TH, LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AGO, WITH TWO NEW BATTERIES. THE CAR WORKED WELL UP UNTIL THIS EVENING, WHEN IT SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY AS I WAS DRIVING INTO MY YARD. ALL THE LIGHTS CAME OFF, AND I CANNOT GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. I AM GLAD THAT IT HAPPENED WHEN I ENTERED MY YARD AND NOT WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. WILL TOW IT TO THE SHOP IN THE MORNING TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS NOW.
WHEN AUTO STOP KICKS IN MY BRAKES ON DRIVER SIDE START CLUNCKING WHEN I APPLY BRAKES CAR ONLY HAS 89,345 MILES ON IT 2014 MALIBU LS
ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON WHILE DRIVING OR STATIONARY. I HAD A DIAGNOSTICS TEST DONE THEY SAID IT IS THE ROCKER ARM SOLENOID. THEY SAID THERE IS A NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND 1 OF OUR LOCAL DEALERS HAD 6 CARS WAITING FOR THIS PART AT THE TIME AND HAD ALREADY BEEN WAITING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT GM SHOULD BE DOING A RECALL FOR.
THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC. HE TOLD ME THAT THE VALVE ROCKER ARM OIL CONTROL IS BAD. HE TOLD ME I AM THE 9TH IN THE QUE JUST FROM LANSING AREA AND THE PART IS BACK ORDERED SINCE AUGUST 2019. HE ORDERED THE PART FROM SHAHEEN CHEVROLET. I CALLED THE GM HELP LINE. INITIALLY THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL BUT LATER THEY CALLED ME AND SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANY THING. THE CAR IS STANDING OUTSIDE ON THE ROAD AND I AM PAYING THE INSURANCE AND JUST PAID THE REGISTRATION. THE DEFECTIVE PART NUMBERS ARE 12633613 AND 12634467 (GASKET + PART). GM CASE NUMBER IS 9-5813783154. THE PERSON WHO TOOK MY CALL WAS THANNA AND THE DATE I CALLED WAS 2/13/2020.
WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO THE SPEED LIMIT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR DOESN'T PICK UP SPEED AS IT SHOULD. DRIVER HAS TO PRESS DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL TO EVEN GET UP TO SPEED. AND ONCE CAR IS UP TO SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY, WHEN TRYING TO BRAKE EVEN WITH NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS INSTALLED ON JULY 27, 2019 THE CAR TENDS TO CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE EVEN MORE INSTEAD OF STOPPING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS SINCE I'VE GOTTEN THE CAR IN MARCH 2018 PLUS WHEN THE AUTO-STOP IS INITIATED THE CAR ACTUALLY TURNS COMPLETELY OFF TURNING THE RADIO OFF BUT ONCE THE BRAKE IS RELEASED IT THEN RESTARTS. A NEW BATTERY WAS INSTALLED ON MARCH 8, 2019.
THE CAR SHUT OFF WHEN YOU GET ON YOUR BRAKES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY

AFTER ALL THREE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND APPEARED ON CENTER DASH CONSOLE, THE CHEVROLET MALIBU BEGAN TO JERK AND STALL AGGRESSIVELY AND VIOLENTLY. THEN THE POWER STEERING WAS DISABLED AND NO.POWER TO THE CAR. THE CAR POWER SHUTOFF AND CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. TRIED TO RESTART CAR BUT CAR DOES NOT TURN ON BUT CAR WAS ELECTRICAL POWER, RADIO TURNS ON AND OTHER ELECTRICAL DEVICES WORK FINE. 15 MINUTES LATER THE CAR TURNS ON NORMALLY BUT ONCE PUT INTO DRIVE THE CAR JERKS AND STALLS THEN POWERS OFF COMPLETELY.
