AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR 30 MINUTES OR MORE, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL STICK IN THE STRAIGHT POSITION. WHEN TRYING TO MAKE LANE CORRECTIONS, THE WHEEL WILL JERK LEFT OR RIGHT CAUSING THE CAR TO MOVE ABRUPTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A CHEVROLET DEALER FOR EVALUATION, THE SERVICE WRITER CALLED IT 'STICK/SLIP' AND SAID IT WAS COMMON ON OLDER MALIBUS. OF COURSE,THE CONCERN COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED BY THE DEALER. VEHICLE HAS ACTED UP SEVERAL TIMES SINCE DEALER VISIT.
STEERING WHEEL SEEMS TO STICK IN THE STRAIGHT-AHEAD POSITION AFTER DRIVING 10 MILES ON A STRAIGHT HIGHWAY ABOVE 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL CAN BE TURNED BUT IT REQUIRES INCREASED EFFORT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH. THE STEERING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE ENGINE FAILURE SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO OURISMAN CHEVROLET OF MARLOW HEIGHTS (4400 BRANCH AVE, MARLOW HEIGHTS, MD 20748, (240) 455-3386) TO BE DIAGNOSED AND THE FOLLOWING FAILURE CODES WERE FOUND: 1119835548, SD19835789, AND DOC5228009. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE ENGINE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR AND POWER SUPPLY CONVERTER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 9-5585224979. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,521.
BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN AUGUST 2018. WHEN I DRIVE IT SOMETIMES IT LOOSES POWER WHEN I'M DRIVING FROM A STOP OR WHILE PICKING UP SPEED AND IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT'S ON THE FREEWAY OR ON THE STREET. THE ONLY WAY I CAN DESCRIBE IT IS IT'S LIKE THE TRANSMISSION GETS STUCK IN A HIGH GEAR AND SLOWLY BUILDS SPEED UP. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IT LIKE THIS.

ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED ABNORMALLY WHILE DRIVING ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PETRO CHEVROLET (4012 14TH ST, PASCAGOULA, MS 39567, (228)813-0262) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE OR DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20.
THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS INSTANCE HAS OCCURED. THE VEHICLE DASH STATED "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS. THIS SLOWS THE VEHICLE TO AN ALMOST COMPLETE STOP. LUCKILY I HAVE EITHER BEEN IN TRAFFIC, IN A PARKING LOT AND A GREEN LIGHT WHEN THIS HAPPENS BUT THIS IS AN ISSUE. I AM IN MOTION.
I RENTED A 2018 MALIBU (11K MILES) WITH THE 1.5 ECOTECH ENGINE FROM HERTZ IN LAKEVILLE, MN STARTING 10/31/18. NO VIN BUT IT WAS RENTAL RECORD #147556754, VEHICLE #02298, LICENSE #IL AW71337. WE PUT APPROX 1100 MILES ON IT THE FIRST TWO DAYS - ALL INTERSTATE DRIVING. ON THE HIGHWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME 'STUCK'. TO MAKE SMALL LANE CORRECTIONS OR CHANGE LANES, I HAD TO MODERATELY FORCE THE STEERING WHEEL TO TURN. IT WAS COMPARABLE TO HAVING A 'CATCH' IN THE STEERING. ONCE THE FORCE WAS MADE, THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY MOVED 1/4 TO 1/2 A LANE LEFT OR RIGHT DEPENDING ON WHICH WAY I WAS TURNING. AFTER THE FIRST TWO DAYS, THE CAR SEEMED TO WORK FINE. MAYBE IT WAS BECAUSE THE WEATHER WAS COOLER AFTER THE FIRST COUPLE DAYS - NOT SURE. I DID REPORT THIS TO THE LOCAL HERTZ CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON AND SHE SAID THEY WOULD LOOK AT IT. PERSONALLY, I CONSIDER THIS A GM ISSUE VS A HERTZ ISSUE.

THE CONTACT RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WHILE APPROACHING A STOP. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BREDEMANN CHEVROLET (1401 W DEMPSTER ST, PARK RIDGE, IL 60068, (847) 655-1485) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING ASSIST SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,000.
I PURCHASED MT 2018 CHEVY MALIBU IN OCTOBER 2018, BRAND NEW. MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCES LOW POWER/HESITATION AT ALL SPEEDS. THIS IS ESPECIALLY EVIDENT WHEN TURNING/PULLING OUT ONTO AN INTERSECTION FROM A STOP. THERE IS NO ACCELERATION AT ALL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER & TEST DROVE IT WITH THE MECHANIC. DURING THE DRIVE, THE CAR DISPLAYED THE SYMPTOMS AND I WAS TOLD IT IS BECAUSE OF THE '6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND ALSO THE AUTO STOP'. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE TO PULL OUT INTO AN INTERSECTION. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND WHEN SHIFTING BACK TO DRIVE THE TRANSMISSION SLAMMED INTO GEAR AND THE ACCELERATOR BARELY RESPONDED AND THE CAR CONSTANTLY REVVES OVER 5,000 RPM'S.THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE WHEN I PUSH THE GAS PEDAL, EVEN WHEN I PUSH IT TO THE FLOOR AND SEEMS LIKE THE CAR HAS NO POWER. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT MULTIPLE TIMES BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. A RECALL DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE RELEASED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR KILLED. CURRENT PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD SINCE DAY 1 OF OWNING THE VEHICLE: 1.GOING AT A STEADY PACE THEN PRESSING THE GAS, THE CAR DOES NOT WANT TO GO. 2.TAKING OFF FROM A STOP, THE CAR DOES NOT WANT TO GO. 3.PULLING INTO TRAFFIC WITHOUT COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, I TRY TO ACCELERATE AND THE CAR DOES NOT WANT TO GO. 4.GOING NORMAL SPEED AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR DOES NOT WANT TO GO. 5.REVVING OVER 5000 RPMS 6.REVVING OVER 5000 RPMS AND NOT GOING ANYWHERE. 7.MAKING A TURN, THE CAR IS TRYING TO 'COAST' AND DOES NOT GO WHEN I PRESS THE GAS.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle stalled, causing the power steering and power brake functionality to become inoperable. The contact stated he was unsure if any warning lights were illuminated. The contact had managed to coast off to the side of the roadway. The contact stated that several attempts were needed to restart the vehicle and he was able to drive the vehicle to his destination. The contact stated that the failure started off as an intermittent failure, but gradually had become a constant failure. The contact stated that the failure recurred and the vehicle had to be towed. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer on several occasions to be diagnosed; however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. Additionally, the contact stated that the radio would randomly switch through the preselected stations. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75.
ALL WINDOWS GET EXTREMELY FOGGY & VISIBILITY IS POOR & I CAN BARELY SEE.
SOMETIMES, WHEN THE THROTTLE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED ACCELERATION IS IMMEDIATE AND THE VEHICLE PERFORMS ACCEPTABLY WITH A SMOOTH AND CONSISTENT RATE OF ACCELERATION. HOWEVER, SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE SPUTTERS FOR A WHILE, NOT FOR A CONSISTENT PERIOD OF TIME, AND EVENTUALLY ACCELERATION KICKS IN AND THE VEHICLE PERFORMS ACCEPTABLY. SOMETIMES WHEN THE THROTTLE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES VERY SLOWLY, WITH NO NOTICEABLE SPUTTERING, NO GEAR CHANGE AND DOES NOT KICK INTO ACCEPTABLE ACCELERATION (I HAVE NOT TESTED THE VEHICLE FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME WHEN IT HAD THIS RESPONSE SO ACCELERATION MIGHT EVENTUALLY KICK IN). INTERMITTENT DELAYED ACCELERATION HAPPENS WHEN THE THROTTLE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED AT A STOP OR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. INTERMITTENT DELAYED ACCELERATION IS A SAFETY HAZARD. FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN ENTERING A FREEWAY WITH HEAVY TRUCKS TRAVELING AT 75 MPH OR MORE, THE DRIVER OF A VEHICLE WITH INTERMITTENT DELAYED ACCELERATION WOULD NOT KNOW IF IT WOULD BE SAFE TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. IF ACCELERATION WAS SMOOTH AND CONSISTENT, THE DRIVER COULD ANTICIPATE THE VEHICLES PERFORMANCE AND MERGE SAFELY. IF DELAYED ACCELERATION OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE MIGHT BE ABLE TO MERGE SAFELY PROVIDING THE FREEWAY ONRAMP HAD ENOUGH LENGTH AND THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC HAD ENOUGH SPACE BETWEEN VEHICLES. HOWEVER, SINCE THE DELAYED ACCELERATION IS INTERMITTENT AND WHEN IT OCCURS, THE DELAY IS NOT CONSISTENT, THE MERGING VEHICLE COULD POTENTIALLY BE REAR-ENDED BY A HEAVY TRUCK RESULTING IN SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW 9/28/2018 WITH 2 MILES ON IT. EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE THE CAR WILL STICK AT 3400 RPM'S, MAKING ALMOST NO POWER, WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THE CAR WILL DO THIS FROM A STOP OR TRYING TO PASS A CAR. BROUGHT TO DEALER FOR 4 DAYS, THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AS IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME(EYE ROLL) IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AS IT WILL GIVE YOU A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY WHEN MOVING INTO OR AROUND TRAFFIC AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. MONITORING THE CAR THRU THE OBDII PORT I PERSONALLY FOUND IT NOT BUILDING BOOST FROM THE TURBO WHEN IT'S HAVING THIS PROBLEM, UNFORTUNATELY THE DEALERS CAN'T SEE THIS PROBLEM...

THE CONTACT SUFFERED MINOR BRUISES AND THE CONTACTS WIFE SUFFERED HEAD INJURIES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,000. **TR CONSUMER STATED THE CAR WAS DEEMED TOTALED FROM OUR INSURANCE COMPANY. WHEN LEAVING A STOP LIGHT WE WERE HIT ON DRIVER SIDE- THE DRIVERS HEAD HIT THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW UPON IMPACT. THE DRIVER WAS KNOOCKED OUT AND TRANSPORTED TO LOCAL HOSPITAL THEN TO A LARGER HOSPITAL. NO AIRBAGS (EVEN THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS) DEPLOYED. UPDATED 10/20/18*JB

MY CAR IS LAGGING WHEN I COME FROM A COMPLETE STOP. IT SPUTTERS AT TIMES WHEN I ACCELERATE. MY CAR IS ALSO MAKING A VIBRATION NOISE WHEN I ACCELERATE, SLOW DOWN, TURNING, ON HIGHWAY, CITY STREETS AND WHEN I'M COASTING. THIS START HAPPENING WHEN MY VEHICLE REACHED 13,000 MILES. I ALMOST GOT INTO FOUR ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THERE NEED TO BE A RECALL ASAP! I'M PRETTY SURE THAT IS NOT GOING TO BE ONE UNTIL SOMEONE DIES BECAUSE OF IT.
2018 CHEVY MALIBU. FIRST STARTED WITH CORRODED WIRES UNDER THE CAR WHICH HAS LEAD TO THE USB PORT MELTING MY CELLPHONE CHARGER WHICH WAS FIXED BUT AFTER THAT THE AC/HEATER ONLY WOULD BLOW OUT THE DEFROSTER THAT GOT FIXED. CAR HAD ABOUT 20,000 MILES. MY CAR HAD A RECALL FOR THE ECM MODULE NEEDED UPDATED BUT AUTO NATION SAID IT DIDN'T NEED TO BE UPDATED AFTER GETTING MY CAR BACK IT WOULDN'T START I WOULD HAVE TO LOCK IT UNLOCK IT OPEN THE DOOR A FEW TIMES AND THEN IT WOULD START, SO MY BATTERY GOT FRIED BECAUSE SOMETHING WAS DRAINING IT PAID 200$ FOR A NEW ONE BECAUSE AUTO NATION SAID THEY DIDN'T TOUCH THE CAR BECAUSE IT DIDN'T NEED AN UPDATE BUT WHAT GETS ME IS THEY HAD TO PLUG INTO IT TO FIND OUT IT DIDN'T NEED AN UPDATE, THEN THE CAR STARTED SAYING (SHIFTER TO PARK) GOT GM CORPORATE INVOLVED AND THEY MADE AN APPOINTMENT 1/13/2020 AT CHAPMAN FOR ME TO TAKE MY CAR IN TO FIGURE OUT THAT I NEEDED A NEW WIRING HARNESS FROM THE SHIFTER TO THE TRANSMISSION AND THEY UPDATED THE ECM MODULE BUT YET AUTO NATION SAID IT DIDN'T NEED THE UPDATE, SO BASICALLY THE AUTO NATION DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CAR MESSING UP. I SAT AT AUTO NATION FOR 45 MINUTES AND THEY DIDN'T TOUCH MY CAR. SOMETHING ISN'T RIGHT AND NO ONE WANTS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. YESTERDAY I PICKED MY CAR UP FROM CHAPMAN 1/27/2020, THEY REPLACED THE WIRING HARNESS FROM THE SHIFTER TO THE TRANSMISSION, TODAY 1/28/2020 I'M GETTING THE SAME MESSAGE 'SHIFT TO PARK'. I'M GETTING TIRED OF THE RUN AROUND WITH BRITTANY AND HAVING 3-4 OTHER PEOPLE CALL THAT DOESN'T KNOW THE SITUATION AND DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THIS SITUATION. SO NOW THE MILES ARE AT 59,000 MILES NO WARRANTY. THIS ISN'T A RELIABLE CAR. GM SAID IS OUR FAULT WHY THIS HAPPEN THAT IS WHAT TAYLOR THE ADVISOR TOLD US TODAY 2/3/2020. STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE PARK TO SHIFT AS OF 11/24/2020.
THE FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WAS CRUISING OUT OF A PARKING LOT, IT DID SO FOR A SPLIT SECOND. THE NEXT TIME WAS AT MY HOUSE, I NEEDED TO GO RUN TO THE STORE. I TRIED STARTING IT. IT SAID "SHIFT TO PARK" BUT I WAS IN PARK. THEN IT SAID "SERVICE STABILITRACK SYSTEM", AND THEN SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF "POWER STEERING SERVICE REQUIRED". I WAITED AND TRIED FOR HOURS AND THEN EVENTUALLY CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2018 CHEVY MALIBU LS THAT I HAVEN'T OWNED FOR MORE THEN 30 DAYS AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN I STARTED IT UP TO LET IT WARM SINCE IT WAS WINTER SO I TOOK IT TO CHRISTENSON CHEVROLET IN HIGHLAND INDIANA AND THE CODE U01B0 CAME UP WHICH IS THE BATTERY SENSOR MODULE AND THE DEALER TOLD ME THERE IS NO FIX FOR IT AND ENGINEERING IS LOOKING INTO IT AND THE PAPERWORK THEY GAVE ME SHOWS THEY HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 2017 AND 2018 MODELS AND NO FIX YET. THEY ARE SELLING CARS WITH DEFECTS AND I TOLD THEM I WANTED A DIFFERENT MODEL OR SAME MODEL AND THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO TALK TO CORPORATE WHICH I DID AND CORPORATE TOLD ME I HAD TO TALK TO THE DEALER SO NOW I AM IN THE WORKINGS OF FILING A LAWSUIT FOR LEMON LAW SINCE THEY HAVE NO INTENTION ON FIXING THIS PROBLEM SINCE NOW THE REMOTE START WON'T WORK SINCE THIS ISSUE AND CORPORATE ISN'T DOING ANYTHING WHICH IS FINE BECAUSE THE COURTS WILL WORK THIS OUT CHEVROLET USE TO BE A GOOD RELIABLE COMPANY BUT NOT ANYMORE
MY RIGHT BLINKER AND BRAKE LIGHT KEEP SHORTING OUT. IT WILL BE FINE FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN STOP WORKING. ALSO, THE INTERIOR CARPET IS TOO SHORT AND KEEP COMING OUT OF THE TRIM IN THE FRONT AREA S OF THE VEHICLE.
HIT DEER DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEED, DRIVERS SIDE. DAMAGE TO HEADLIGHT, BLINKER, GRILL, BUMPER AND SIDE PANEL. WAS CALLED BY ONSTAR DUE TO AIRBAG BEING DEPLOYED. HOWEVER, AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WAS A BURNING ODOR IN CAR FOR SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AFTER INCIDENT.
When putting the car in park it and powering the car off it will say shift to park but car is already in Park. Then it will real stalibark and my wheel will sometimes lock.
After diagnostic troubleshooting from DTCs on a check engine light, it was discovered that the brake vacuum pump connected to the engine was completely nonfunctional. Previous symptoms included stiff brake, loss of brake power at random brake periods which could have cause and accident with other drivers, and finally malfunctioning sensors attributed to the exhaust system. This also led the vehicle to be unable to pass state regulated Emissions testing because of the inability to maintain proper emissions levels. Brake Vacuum pump that was removed from vehicle to inspect and diagnose is still available for inspection. Recent findings show that Chevrolet/GM is aware of the issue in their vehicles but refuses to address or replace faulty brake vacuum pumps. It is a common problem amongst 2013-2022 Chevrolet Malibus. Vehicle that is in question was inspected by a certified mechanic shop with failed emissions test. Solid check engine light appeared once the brake had become harder to push and stop the car. OBD scans show DTC codes that were pertaining to MAF and MAP malfunctions in readouts and communications to the ECM. After further inspection, the ABS module had been acting as "backup" for hydrolic brakes system that had zero vacuum to power the brake booster, this could have caused the engine to stall, longer than normal stopping distances (stronger risk of rear ending other drivers), and multiple components and sensors to fail, requiring them to also be replaced.
In 2020, I received multiple red recall notices in the mail regarding a safety issue. I scheduled an appointment with a Chevrolet dealership in Los Angeles and have a voicemail confirming the appointment. At the time, I did not follow through with ensuring the repair was fully completed, which I take responsibility for. However, the vehicle has continued to experience the same dangerous symptoms. My vehicle continues to display sudden “Engine Power Reduced” warnings while driving at freeway speeds. The car abruptly slows down and limits acceleration, forcing me to pull over and turn the vehicle off and back on to reset it. During these events, the steering wheel becomes extremely difficult to turn, creating a dangerous situation, particularly at high speeds. The vehicle also appears to have ongoing issues with the push-button start/stop system. Although I did not pursue the issue further at the time, I am now seeking to have it properly addressed because the safety risk remains and another family member is currently driving the vehicle. When I recently attempted to verify the recall status, both the Chevrolet website and other sources show no open recalls. However, the symptoms persist exactly as before, I cannot find the little red notices that were sent but I do have a voicemail from someone at Chevy confirming the appointment that I made because of the recall notices. This issue presents a serious safety hazard due to sudden loss of engine power and steering assist on highways. I respectfully request investigation into whether the recall was improperly marked as completed. Furthermore, can you provide me with the full recall and service history on my VIN including closed recalls and warranty repairs? I know recalls do not expire so I’m confused as to why no one wants to help me now. I appreciate your time.
