TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE IGNITION FAILED AND CAUSED THE KEY TO FALL OUT OF THE IGNITION CYLINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
I HAD THE OIL CHANGED ON MY 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 2 WHEEL-DRIVE PICK-UP TRUCK BY A LOCAL SHOP AND WHEN I STARTED THE TRUCK AFTER THE OIL CHANGE AND PUT THE TRUCK INTO DRIVE IN THE SHOP PARKING LOT, I NOTICED THAT I HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR. PRIOR TO THIS, I NEVER HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. THE BRAKES PREVIOUSLY WERE STRONG AND REQUIRED A SLIGHT PUSH. I DROVE A SHORT DISTANCE AND FOUND THAT STOPPING REQUIRED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO BE PRESSED ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO THE SAME SHOP AND ASKED THE SHOP TO TAKE A LOOK. THE SHOP FOUND THAT ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES WAS LEAKING FLUID (UNDER DRIVER SIDE) AND EXPLAINED THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES LOOKED RUSTED. THIS TRUCK PRIMARILY WAS USED BY A HIGHWAY DEPT OUTSIDE OF BUFFALO, NY (ROAD SALT/RUST BELT GEOGRAPHIC AREA) - THE EXPOSURE TO AMOUNTS OF ROAD SALT/ICE-MELTING CHEMICALS MAY HAVE BEEN A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN TOWED TO ANOTHER MECHANIC AND I AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK ABOUT THE REPAIR OPTIONS. IF THE NHTSA WOULD LIKE ANY EVIDENCE (SUCH AS PHOTOGRAPHS OR THE ACTUAL RUSTED BRAKE LINES), PLEASE LET ME KNOW. *TR
DURING THE ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTION THE DEALER ADVISED ME THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED BEFORE THE NEXT INSPECTION DUE TO RUST ($1200), AND THE REAR BRAKE BACKING PLATES WOULD ALSO NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO RUST. THE REAR BRAKE BACKING PLATES WERE ALREADY REPLACED ONCE DUE TO RUST-THROUGH. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN ROUTINELY MAINTAINED AND COMMERCIALLY WASHED THROUGHOUT ITS LIFE, DRIVEN ON A DAILY BASIS UP (UNTIL THE LAST 5 MONTHS) ONLY IN EASTERN PA, DE, MD AREA (NO SNOW BELT TRAVEL). IN MY 40 YEARS OF VEHICLE OWNERSHIP, I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED OR EVEN HEARD OF BRAKE BACKING PLATES RUSTING THROUGH DURING THE LIFE OF A 12 YEAR OLD VEHICLE (LET ALONE TWICE) AND, HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED (OR HEARD OF) ALL BRAKE LINES ON A VEHICLE RUSTING THROUGH TO THE POINT WHERE THEY ALL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS NOT NORMAL WEAR OR DETERIORATION. IT IS MOST DEFINITELY A VEHICLE SAFETY ISSUE TO HAVE CRITICAL SAFETY (BRAKE) COMPONENTS RUSTING THROUGH AT A HIGHLY ACCELERATED RATE FOR NO APPARENT REASON TO THE DRIVER/OWNER. *TR
WAS TOWING A TRAILER. (LIGHT LOAD) GOING APPROX 35MPH STOP LIGHT TURNED YELLOW, WITH PLENTY OF TIME FOR ME TO STOP. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THEY LET LOSS. I THEN HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO RUN THE YELLOW/RED LIGHT. LUCKILY IT DID NOT TURN OUR WORSE. BUT I THEN HAD TO MAKE MY WAY TO A PARKING LOT WITH NO BRAKES. MY TRUCK IS MANUAL SO THAT HELPED MAKE THING A LITTLE EASIER. I THEN LOOKED AND FOUND OUT THE ONE OF MY BRAKE LINES HAD BUSTED FROM CORROSION. I HAVE NOT YET REPLACED THE LINES. PLAN TO DO SO SOON. *TR
I LIVE IN CONNECTICUT AND I HAVE A 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO K1500 EXT CAB 5.3L TRUCK WITH 198000+ MILES ON IT. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN GARAGED JUST ABOUT ITS WHOLE LIFE SINCE I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. LAST WEEK MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK TO THE STORE. WHILE COMING TO A STOP SIGN JUST DOWN THE STREET THE BRAKES FAILED. FORTUNATELY SHE WAS COMING TO A STOP AND WASN'T GOING FAST WITH NO ONE IN FRONT OF HER. SHE WALKED BACK TO THE HOUSE AND I WENT DOWN TO FIND THAT A BRAKE LINE HAD BUSTED BEHIND THE DRIVERS WHEEL ON THE FRAME RAIL BEFORE IT GOES OVER THE FRAME TO THE ABS MODULE. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED BACK TO MY HOUSE AND PUT IN THE GARAGE TO INSPECT IT. I AM AMAZED ON HOW MUCH THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED. SOME AREAS OF THE LINE WHEN I TOUCHED IT JUST FELL APART IN MY HANDS. I HAVE BEEN HEARING THAT JUST ABOUT EVERYONE I KNOW WHO OWNS 1999-2003 CHEVY TRUCKS ARE HAVING BRAKE LINE FAILING DUE TO CHEAP STEEL RUSTED LINES. WHILE I WAS UNDER THE TRUCK I ALSO NOTICED THAT ONE OF THE CROSS MEMBERS THAT SUPPORT THE RIGHT REAR SHOCK PLUS THE GAS TANK IS SUPPORTED OFF OF IS RUSTED WITH ONLY HALF A TUBE LEFT. PLUS JUST ABOUT ALL OF MY GAS LINES HAVE SERIOUS RUST ON THEM. MY OTHER ISSUE IS THAT THE ROCKER PANELS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAB ARE RUSTED THREW TO A POINT THAT YOU CAN STICK YOUR HAND IN THEM. WHEN IS CHEVY GOING TO GET OFF THEIR BUTT AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. THE BRAKE LINES, FUEL LINES & CROSS MEMBER CORROSION ARE SAFETY ISSUES THAT SHOULD BE DEALT WITH BEFORE PEOPLE GET HURT OR WORST KILLED. *TR
BACKING UP TRUCK, MOVED IT FORWARD AND THE BRAKES WENT, COULDN'T STOP THE TRUCK. I WAS MOVING FORWARD AFTER HAVING IT ON REVERSE, SO THE SPEED WAS SLOW (5MPH). NOTICED THERE WAS A PUDDLE ON THE GROUND OF BRAKE FLUID, AND TO FURTHER INVESTIGATE, THERE WAS A LOT OF RUST AND CORROSION THAT CAME FROM UNDERNEATH. I WAS ON VACATION WHEN THIS HAPPENED, CALLED AAA FOR A TOW ON THE DATE LISTED. REPLACED BRAKE LINES, MASTER CYLINDER, AND NOTICED WHILE REPLACING THE BRAKE LINES, THERE'S MORE CORROSION COMING FROM UNDERNEATH. *TR
HYDROBOOST LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID AFFECTING STEERING AND BRAKING PERFORMANCE. DIPSTICK FOR MEASURING P/S FLUID LEVEL WAS DRY, AND FLUID STAINS ALL OVER THE FIREWALL AND MASTER CYLINDER RESULTING FROM THE P/S FLUID LEAKING. *TR
CUSTOMER WENT TO APPLY BRAKES COMING DOWN A STEEP HILL. BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. VEHICLE WAS WRECKED TO THE REPAIR SHOP THE NEXT DAY. UPON INSPECTION, ALL BRAKE LINES FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER TO THE WHEELS WERE RUSTED AND CORRODED. THE PLACE WHERE THE LEAK HAPPENED WAS RIGHT AT THE ABS PUMP. BOTH LINES FOR THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKING SYSTEMS BURST BEFORE THE ABS PUMP CAUSING A COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKES. I HAVE WORKED ON MANY CHEVROLETS OF THIS MODEL AND ALL SEEM TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS PARTICULAR ONE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A NORTH CAROLINA VEHICLE. HAS NEVER BEEN UP NORTH. *TR
I WAS HEADED TO THE STORE WHEN MY TRUCK JUST SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET I TOOK TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND SENDING UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE FUEL LINES DUE TO THERE BEING EXCESSIVE CORROSION. ALSO ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATES WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT LOW SPEEDS. AND I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE LINES DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST. AT 118000 MILES I HAD TO HAVE MY HEATER CORE REPLACED DUE NO HEAT AND ONCE AGAIN AT 121,000 MILES I HAVE LOST HEAT AGAIN. *TR
WHILE PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY, THE BRAKE PEDAL STATED CHATTERING LIKE THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WERE ACTIVATING. THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY AND WHEN THE TRUCK WAS BEING PARKED IN FRONT OF THE GARAGE IT WOULD NOT STOP AND WENT THROUGH THE GARAGE DOOR. *TR
I OWN A YEAR 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 PICKUP TRUCK. ON APRIL 15, 2013, WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM THE NEAREST VILLAGE, I LOST ALL POWER IN MY BRAKES. THE TRUCK WAS GOING DOWNHILL AND AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO INCREASE IN SPEED. I WAS QUICKLY OVERTAKING A SLOWER PASSENGER CAR AHEAD OF ME, SO I HAD TO VEER OFF THE ROAD ONTO THE SHOULDER AND INTO A ROUGH RAVINE. EVENTUALLY I SLOWED TO A STOP. I GOT OUT AND EXAMINED THE BRAKE FLUID AND FOUND IT TO BE LESS THAN THE MINIMUM LEVEL. I ALSO SAW FLUID LEAKING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE REAR AXIAL. SINCE THE INCIDENT HAPPEN IN THE EVENING, I CALLED A FRIEND WHO HELPED ME BRING THE TRUCK TO MY HOME. THE FOLLOWING DAY I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE FAILED (RUSTED THROUGH) REAR BRAKE LINE. THE OTHER REAR BAKE LINES WERE EXTREMELY RUSTED AND AT THE SUGGESTION OF THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN, I HAD THEM ALL REPLACED. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $1625. THE TRUCK HAD APPROXIMATELY 99,000 MILES AT THE TIME OF REPAIR AND WAS GARAGED DURING WINTER MONTHS SINCE IT IS PRIMARILY A FARM VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THAT THE BRAKE LINE WEAR AND RUST IS A SAFETY HAZARD SINCE THE TRUCK LOST ALL BRAKE POWER AND WAS INCREASING IN SPEED EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE BRAKE PEDAL FULLY ENGAGED. ONLY BY STEERING OFF THE ROAD AND DRIVING UP AN ELEVATED ROAD EMBANKMENT WAS I ABLE TO STOP THE TRUCK SAFELY. *TR
DID NEW BRAKE PADS AND WHEN STARTED TO DRIVE BREAK LINE BLEW-TOWED TO MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD ALL BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
FAULTY FUEL GAUGE AND FUEL PUMP 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 . FUEL GAUGE HAS NOT BEEN WORKING FOR YEARS. DECIDED TO HAVE IT REPAIRED ALONG WITH FUEL PUMP. *TR
AFTER DRIVING FOR AROUND 30 MILES I WAS PULLING UP TO THE GARAGE AT HOME SLOWING DOWN WHEN THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ENGAGED AT ABOUT 3 MILES PER HOUR. IN A PANIC, THE TRUCK KEPT MOVING WITHOUT STOPPING FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 TO 4 FEET, THEN I PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND IT STOPPED. WITHOUT DOING THAT I WOULD HAVE HIT MY GARAGE DOOR, MISSING THE DOOR BY INCHES. THIS ISSUE IS STILL ONGOING AS OF 8/18/13. IN ORDER TO STOP, THE BRAKES HAVE TO BE PUMPED AT ALL TIMES WHEN TRYING TO STOP. THE ANTI-LOCK BAKE SYSTEM ACTIVATES AT 3 TO 4 MILES PER HOUR ALL THE TIME IF NOT PUMPED. I AM A MECHANIC AND STARTED SEARCHING THE INTERNET TO SEE WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM. UPON MY FINDING THERE ARE MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE AS MINE. I HAVE NOT ADDRESSED THE ISSUE BECAUSE THE TRUCK ISN'T USED MUCH, ALTHOUGH IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS VERY SOON. I FEEL THAT THIS ISSUE SHOULD NOT BE AT MY EXPENSE WHEN THIS ISSUE IS MORE WIDE SPREAD THEN JUST MY TRUCK. SOME HAVE SAID THAT A EARLIER MODEL OF SUV HAD A RECALL WHEN THE ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM WOULD ACTIVATE AT 3 TO 10 MILES PER HOUR AND WAS A DESIGN FLAW. ON A LARGER NOTE, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE LIGHT DOESN'T COME ON EITHER. *TR
THE BRAKE LINES RUSTED THROUGH, CAUSING A LOSS OF FLUID RESULTING IN A LOSS OF PRESSURE THROUGH THE BRAKE SYSTEM. *TR
I HAD JUST PICKED UP A TRAILER AT U HAUL AND WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HILL IN FRONT OF THEIR STORE TO FINISH SIGNING THE PAPERWORK. AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL I BEGAN TO APPLY THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I CAME CLOSE TO RUNNING INTO THE U HAUL BUILDING BUT THE TRUCK FINALLY STOPPED JUST IN TIME. I PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND GOT OUT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED. I WENT TO THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK, LOOKED UNDER AND SAW NOTHING. I WENT TO THE BACK OF THE TRUCK AND LOOKED UNDER AND THERE WAS FLUID STEADILY DRIPPING AND A HUGE PUDDLE OF BRAKE FLUID UNDER THE TRUCK. I DISCONNECTED THE TRAILER AND CALLED A FRIEND TO PICK ME UP. ONCE I GOT THE TRUCK HOME, I BEGAN SEARCHING FOR THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK (AT THIS POINT I THOUGHT I HAD BUSTED A BRAKE HOSE) I QUICKLY REALIZED THIS WAS NOT A BRAKE HOSE THAT HAD RUPTURED. THE BRAKE LINE THAT RUNS PAST THE GAS TANK AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS RUSTED THROUGH AND HAD A HOLE IN IT. ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTING IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. I TOOK A PICTURE OF THE LINE WITH THE HOLE AND WENT OFF TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. ONCE AT THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD BY THE YOUNG MAN WORKING THE PARTS COUNTER THAT CHEVROLET DID NOT SELL REPLACEMENT BRAKE LINES. HE TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BUY BULK BRAKE TUBING AND MAKE MY OWN LINES. I LET HIM KNOW THAT THE LINE THAT RUPTURED ON MY TRUCK HAD OVER 20 BENDS ON IT AND THAT THE LAST FOUR BENDS WOULD BE VERY DIFFICULT TO BEND BY HAND. I GOT NOWHERE WITH CHEVROLET ON REPLACEMENT PARTS. I WOUND UP ORDERING NEW STAINLESS STEEL LINES FROM INLINE TUBE. I REPLACED ALL THE BRAKE LINES. WHILE TAKING THE FUEL TANK OUT SO I COULD INSTALL THE NEW BRAKE LINES......IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT ALL OF THE FUEL LINES WERE RUSTING ALSO. I REPLACED THEM AS WELL. CHEVROLET SHOULD NOT BE USING SUBPAR MATERIALS FOR ANYTHING. POOR QUALITY BRAKE AND FUEL LINES WILL GET SOMEONE SERIOUSLY HURT!! SHAME ON CHEVROLET :( *TR
SOME FRIENDS BORROWED MY 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO TO HAUL SOME SHEET ROCK HEADED DOWN TO HARDWARE STORE AND ENDED UP CALLING ME WITH A SMOKING ENGINE TOLD THEM TO BRING IT BACK TO THE HOUSE. MY BUDDY SAID THE BRAKES DIDN'T STOP ALL THAT GOOD ON THE WAY OVER AND WENT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR LOOKING UNDER THE HOOD I HAD HIM PUSH THE BRAKES AND FLUID SHOT OUT OF THE BREAK LINES RUNNING ALONG THE BODY FRAME THEY LOOK ALL CORRODED IN ONE LOCATION AND ONE OF THEM BURST. WE ARE FORTUNATE THE ONLY RAN TO THE HARDWARE STORE AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY IT COULD OF ENDED VERY BADLY. *TR
MULTIPLE BRAKE LINES RUPTURED, CAUSING BRAKE FAILURE. CRASHED INTO METAL GATE. *TR
WAS DRIVING MY 2000 1500 AND HAD BRAKE FAILURE. UPON INSPECTION NOT ONLY DID I FIND EXTENSIVE RUST ON LINES BUT MY REAR SHACKLES ARE ROTTING THROUGH AND SOME PLACES ON THE FRAME. STARTED TO THINK THERE NO WAY THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO THIS TRUCK. ONLY 140000 MILES THIS HAS GOT TO BE A CASE OF POOR QUALITY. NOT ONLY IS THIS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE CHECKED ON BUT IT IS AN EXPENSIVE FIX. I DID SLIDE OFF THE ROAD BUT I CAME TO A SAFE STOP IN A FIELD LUCKILY MY E-BRAKE WORKED AND NOBODY ELSE WAS AROUND. COULD YOU PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS AND TAKE CARE OF IT. CHEVROLET SHOULD STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT BUT THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US, THEY JUST WANT THEIR MONEY. THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS VEHICLE IS A TOTAL PIECE OF JUNK. THERE ARE MANY, MANY VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME TRANSMISSION. IT LOCKED UP SLINGING THE DRIVER INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND WINDSHIELD. THIS BROKE THE BOLTS HOLDING THE SEAT TO THE FRAME. THE COST TO FIX WAS OVER 1200 DOLLARS. I'VE TALKED WITH SEVERAL TRANSMISSION SHOPS, EACH ONE IS IN BUSINESS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THIS TRANSMISSION IS DEFECTIVE. THEY REPAIR OR REPLACE MORE OF THESE THAN ALL OTHER TIMES 400. IT APPEARS THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE FIRST BEING USED. IT ALSO APPEARS THAT NO ONE IS BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE REPAIRS AND/OR DEATHS, INJURY THAT IS BEING CAUSED BY THIS DEFECTIVE UNIT. IT'S OINDTALLED IN MILLIONS OF VEHICLES WORLDWIDE. WHEN IS SOMETHING GOING TO BE DONE ? WHEN IS SOMEONE GOING TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE ? STOP THIS MADNESS, PLEASE ! THE TIME IT'S TOOK ME TO FILL OUT THE FORM, DOZENS OF PEOPLE WERE INJURED DUE TO THE ABOVE STATEMENT. *TR
WHEN BRAKING THE DRIVER'S SEAT MOVES SLIGHTLY AS THOUGH THE MOUNTING BOLTS OR SLIDER BOLTS WERE LOOSE. I CHECKED THE MOUNTING AND SLIDER BOLTS AND THEY ARE TIGHT, BUT THE PROBLEM OCCURS EVERY TIME I USE THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS WILL RESULT IN A VIRGINIA STATE VEHICLE SAFETY INSPECTION FAILURE BECAUSE A SEAT MUST BE SECURE OR IT CONSTITUTES A DANGER. ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE IS A 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 SERIES LT EXTENDED CAB IT ONLY HAS 13,000 MILES ON IT. THEREFORE, IT ISN'T DRIVEN MUCH INDICATING TO ME THAT THE CONDITION RESULTED FROM DEFECTIVE MATERIAL USED IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THE SEAT OR IMPROPER MANUFACTURING ITSELF. I BELIEVE THAT IF IT WERE FROM IMPROPER MANUFACTURING AS OPPOSED TO DEFECTIVE MATERIALS THEN THE PROBLEM WOULD HAVE SHOWN UP AT A MUCH EARLIER DATE REGARDLESS OF THE LOW MILEAGE. ON 9/18/12 I WAS TRAVELING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON RT 29N IN COLUMBIA MD WHEN TRAFFIC SLOWED AND THEN STOPPED. I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES OF MY 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500. THE VEHICLE SLOWED SOMEWHAT BUT THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I COULDN'T STOP. I REAR ENDED AN UNMARKED POLICE VEHICLE AT APPROX 20-25MPH. MY TRUCK SUFFERED FRT BUMPER DAMAGE AS WELL AS THE BACK WINDOW BLOWING OUT. THE POLICE CAR SUFFERED REAR BUMPER DAMAGE. THE OFFICER STATED THAT HE WAS OK FROM THE CRASH. I ALSO SUFFERED NOT INJURIES. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK OUT OF THE TRAFFIC LANES AND OPENED THE HOOD TO CHECK THE BRAKE FLUID. THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS EMPTY. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER FOR INSPECTION. I AM HAVING THE BRAKE LINES REPLACED WITH STAINLESS STEEL BRAKE LINES TO STOP THIS FROM EVER HAPPENING AGAIN AT CONSIDERABLE COST TO ME.
