ON JUNE 7, 2014, WE WERE DRIVING OUR 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO HD WESTBOUND THROUGH KANSAS ON I70. A STRONG VIBRATION FORCED US TO EXIT. THE AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN IDENTIFIED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE HAD SLIPPED A BELT. WE PURCHASED A NEW TIRE (NO FIRESTONE AVAILABLE). ALL TIRES WERE ROTATED AND BALANCED. IN AUGUST 2014, A SIMILAR VIBRATION WAS NOTICED. ON AUGUST 21, 2014, AFTER AN EXTENSIVE, MULTI-POINT INSPECTION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE DRIVER'S REAR TIRE HAD SLIPPED A BELT. REPLACEMENT NECESSARY. OF THE REMAINING TWO FIRESTONE TIRES, ONE APPEARS TO BE FROM THE SAME BATCH (CORRESPONDING DOT#) AS THE DRIVER'S REAR TIRE THAT WAS JUST REMOVED. REPLACEMENT RECOMMENDED. THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE APPEARS TO BE FROM A DIFFERENT BATCH, BUT WILL BE REPLACED. (UNFORTUNATELY, WE HAVE NOT BEEN UNABLE TO LOCATE A RECORD OF THE DOT# FROM THE TIRE REPLACED IN JUNE 2014.) FIRESTONE HAS INITIALLY DENIED REPLACEMENT/COMPENSATION TO THE AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESS PERFORMING THE REPAIRS. *TR
I WAS ENTERING MY DRIVEWAY AND BEGAN TO BRAKE GOING DOWNHILL, THE BRAKE PEDAL SUDDEN "WENT TO THE FLOOR" (BRAKE LINE HAD RUPTURED DUE TO CORROSION). AFTER TAKING TRUCK TO MECHANIC, I LEARNED ALL MY BRAKE LINES WERE SERVERELY CORRODED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED - FUEL LINES AS WELL. REPAIRS TOTALED $2185. I OWNED SEVERAL OTHER MAKE PICKUPS, DRIVEN UNDER THE SAME CONDITIONS AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEM WITH EITHER BRAKE OR FUEL LINES. *TR
TURNED KEY ON AND LIGHT SAYING SERVICE AIRBAG CAME ON. LOCAL MECHANIC SAID HE READ THAT THERE WAS GOING TO BE A RECALL ON IT. *TR
BRAKES LINES POPPED A LEAK BELOW THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR,WHICH SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. I HAVE NEVER HAD BRAKES FAIL AFTER ONLY 9 YEARS AND ONLY 31,942 MILES. WE PURCHASED THE TRUCK NEW ON 8-4-2005. I HAVE A FORD CAR THAT IS A 2000 MODEL YEAR,AND THE LINES STILL LOOK GOOD. WE HAD 2 OTHER FORD CARS IN THE PAST THAT HAD NEARLY 200,000 MILES WHEN WE GOT RID OF THEM,AND THEY STILL HAD THE SAME BRAKES LINES,WHICH LOOKED GOOD FOR BEING NEARLY 15 YEARS OLD EACH. I KNOW THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ROUTINE MAINTENANCE ISSUE, BUT GM APPARENTLY PUT POOR QUALITY LINES ON VARIOUS VEHICLES. WE RARELY DRIVE IT ON SALTY ROADS IN THE WINTER,AND WHEN WE DO,WE REGULARLY DO A UNDERCARRIAGE WASH,WHICH WASN'T AVAILABLE WHEN WE HAD THE 2 PREVIOUS FORD CARS. IT IS VERY OBVIOUS THE LINES PUT ON THESE VEHICLES ARE JUNK. THEY PUT ON A EXHAUST THAT IS SUPPOSED TO LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE,BUT PUT ON INFERIOR BRAKE LINES WHICH ARE A SAFETY ISSUE,GO FIGURE. AFTER SEEING HOW GM STONEWALLED AND BRUSHED OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH ISSUE,AND NOW THIS BRAKE LINE ISSUE,ALL I CAN SAY IS I'M GOING BACK TO A FORD. I ALWAYS DO PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE,BUT THESE BRAKE LINES CAUGHT ME WAY OFF GUARD. I HAVE DONE A LOT OF BRAKE LINES OVER THE YEARS BUT NONE THIS SOON. I AM GOING TO ADVERTISE THIS TO ANY GM OWNER TO CHECK SEE IF THEY HAVE CRAPPY BRAKE LINES. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROX 30 MPH, BRAKES WERE APPLIED IN ANTICIPATION OF A RED LIGHT. THE BRAKE PEDAL HESITATED, THEN WENT TO THE FLOOR. VEHICLE WAS STOPPED UTILIZING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE BRAKES RUPTURED DUE TO SEVERE RUST. CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED AT THE DEALER. *TR
BRAKE LINE BROKE IN MY DRIVEWAY AS I WAS PUTTING THE TRUCK IN GEAR. THERE IS NO RUST ON TRUCK EXCEPT BRAKE LINES. *TR
REAR BRAKE LINE RUPTURED WHILE BRAKING FOR A HIGHWAY EXIT. ALL THE BRAKE FLUID LEAKED OUT WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO STOP. I WAS ABLE TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO COME TO A COMPLETE AND SAFE STOP. WHEN I LOOKED TO FIND THE PROBLEM, I FOUND THE REAR BRAKE LINE DIRECTLY UNDER THE DRIVER DOOR WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND BLOWN OUT. *TR
SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO DEALER SAID IMPACT SENSOR WAS BAD AND AIRBAGS WOULD NOT WORK IF IN A FRONTEND CRASH. TRUCK HAS ONLY 73000 MILES ON IT. COST $350.00 TO $400.00 TO FIX. DEALER SAID THEY HAD A LOT OF THIS PROBLEM. WHY HAVE THERE BEEN A RECALL. *TR
BRAKE LINES RUPTURED. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR.
TIRE BLOWOUT ON LEFT REAR OF 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. TRUCK WAS PULLING A TRAILER ON THE WAY BACK FROM A MISSION TRIP, RETURNING FROM MONTANA. INCIDENT HAPPENED ON I-90 ABOUT 50 MILES EAST OF MOSES LAKE WASHINGTON. WE WERE WESTBOUND TRAVELING AT 70 MPH. NO INJURIES, HOWEVER THE TRUCK SUFFERED APPROX $3000 DAMAGE. *TR
BRAKE LINES RUSTED; BRAKE LINE LEAK; TRUCK WOULD NOT BRAKE/STOP IN DRIVEWAY; HAD TRUCK TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP TO REPLACE BRAKE LINES COMPLETELY RUSTED. *TR
ALL BRAKE LINES ARE CORRODED. BRAKES FAILED WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE IN TRAFFIC. ALL BRAKE HARD LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR

THE VEHICLE'S READ "CHECK AIR BAG" FOR AT LEAST 3 MONTHS. NO INCIDENT BUT THE CHECK LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE AUGUST 2014. PLEASE ADVISE. *TR
NO BRAKE LAMP ILLUMINATES WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, ALL OTHER LIGHTS WORK. *JS
BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR AS I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVE.. SO AS I LOOKED TO SEE WHAT IT WAS, 1 BRAKE LINE WAS LEAKING DUE TO CORROSION AN SPLIT. ANOTHER LINE CLOSE TO SPLITTING. ALL 4 RUSTED BAD. *JS
CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING, WILL NOT POWER ON. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
MAKING LEFT TURN FROM LOOP 375 EXIT RAMP TO TURN LEFT ONTO MONTANA AVE. IN EL PASO TX. I WAS WAITING FOR LIGHT TO TURN LEFT. LIGHT TURNED GREEN I PROCEEDED TO MAKE LEFT TURN AND IN THE TURN THE STEERING CAME REALLY HARD TO TURN I WENT UP ON THE CURB AND ATTEMPTED TO STOP AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THERE WAS ENOUGH BRAKE TO STOP. GOOD THING THIS DID NOT HAPPEN WHEN I APPROACHED THE INTERSECTION OR WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT OR CHIME. I CHECKED FLUIDS AND THEY WERE ALL FULL. WHEN I TOOK IT TO MISSION CHEVROLET AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPEN THEY GAVE ME THE IMPRESSION THEY ALREADY KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG LIKE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE. TODAY I GOT A CALL FROM THEM AND CONFIRMED THAT IT IS THE POWER ASSIST FOR THE BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. WHY IF THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THE CONSUMER DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT IT? *TR
BLOWER RESISTER KEEPS BURNING OUT. *TR
THE BRAKE LINES AND FUEL LINES RUSTY TO THE POINT THAT THEY ARE LEAKING NEED TO BE REPLACED.THE BLEND MOTOR FOR HVAC ISN'T WORKING RIGHT. *JS
WHILE DOING AN OIL CHANGE ON MY 2005 PU I NOTICED ENOUGH BUILDUP OF RUST ON THE BRAKE LINES THAT I STOPPED DRIVING THE TRUCK. I HAVE HAD PU TRUCKS (FORD) SINCE 1972 AND NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH BRAKE LINES ALTHOUGH I HAD THE TRUCKS FOR 10 YRS. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE OF NEGLIGENCE OF GM. I AM 75 AND NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE ALTHOUGH I HAD CARS AND TRUCKS (AND MOTORCYCLES) SINCE I WAS 16. I BELIEVE THIS IS MORE SERIOUS THAN IGNITION SWITCH. THANK YOU *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED A QUARTER OF A TANK OF FUEL, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY AND USED A FUEL CLEANER TREATMENT. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED OUT. THE DEALER STATED THAT NEW BRAKE LINES NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED IN JULY OF 2014. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
WHILE DOING AN OIL CHANGE ON MY 2005 PU SILVERADO I NOTICED LARGE RUST BUILD UP ON THE BRAKE LINES' THIS IS NOT THROUGH NEGLECT ON MY PART, BUT IS SUFFICIENT ENOUGH TO CAUSE SERIOUS CONCERN. MY SON IN LAW WITH CHEVY 2002 HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WHEN HIS BRAKES FAILED ON A HILL WHICH CAUSED ME TO CHECK MINE.THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND GM SHOULD BEAR THE RECALL EXPENSE. WHILE DRIVING SPEEDOMETER READS WRONG BUT ODOMETER IS OK? STOP AND TURN OFF IT WORKS OK FOR A TIME. TRY TO START SOMETIMES IT WILL CRANK OTHER TIME IT DON'T GM EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO COVER THE DASH PANEL BUT DID NOT NOTIFY ME OR ANYONE THAT I KNOW OF I FOUND IT ONLINE AFTER TIME HAD EXPIRED (SPEEDOMETER) AND WILL ALSO CONTROL ENGINE CRANKING . *TR
I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 50 AND 55 MPH PULLING A 7000 POUND TRAILER WHEN A CAR PULLED OUT OF A GAS STATION IN FRONT OF ME. I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES ONLY TO HAVE THE PEDAL GO TO THE FLOOR WITH NO BRAKING ABILITY AT ALL. I TRIED PUMPING THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR EACH TIME WITH LITTLE OR NO ABILITY TO SLOW THE TRUCK AND TRAILER. THE DRIVER OF THE CAR REALIZED THEY PULLED IN FRONT OF ME AND ACCELERATED TO AVOID A REAR-END COLLISION. IT TOOK NEARLY A QUARTER MILE FROM INITIAL APPLICATION OF BRAKES TO A COMPLETE STOP BY USING THE MECHANICAL PARKING/EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS THE RUST-THROUGH AND SUBSEQUENT BURSTING OF THE STEEL BRAKE LINE THAT RUNS FROM THE ABS VALVE BODY TO THE REAR BRAKES. *JS
APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT AT THE BOTTOM OF A STEEP GRADED HIGHWAY, I NOTICED THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT SPUNGEY AND NEAR THE BOTTOM THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT CLEAR TO THE FLOOR BOARD. I WAS FORCED TO LEAVE THE HIGHWAY TO PREVENT A REAR END COLLISION WITH THE STOPPED VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME RESULTING IN NO REAL DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE ITSELF. IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. THE BRAKE LINES (4 OF THEM) HAVE RUSTED OUT SO MUCH THAT THEY COULD NOT CONTAIN PRESSURE OF THE FLUID WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE AND BURSTED. MY MECHANIC TELLS ME THIS WILL BE IN EXCESS OF $600.00 TO REPAIR DO TO THE CAB HAVING TO BE UNBOLTED AND LIFTED FROM THE CHASSIS TO ACCESS THE LINES FOR REPLACING. HE ALSO TELLS ME THAT MANY GM MODELS, NEW AND OLD HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH RUSTING BRAKE LINES. GM IS AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS. WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED? WHY HAVE THESE MODELS NOT BEEN RECALLED? SUBARU RECENTLY RECALLED OVER 660,000 VEHICLES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM; #DOINGTHERIGHTTHING. I AM NOT AT ALL HAPPY ABOUT THIS. *JS
MY 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 SUDDENLY WOULD NOT START. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THE STARTER AND THE RELAY WERE BAD. IT COST ME OVER $700. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAD 53,000 MILES ON IT.
WHILE DRIVING I LOST ALL BRAKE PRESSURE AND WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE SPEED OF MY TRUCK, AT THE SERVICE SHOP I WAS SHOWN THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE EXTREMELY CORRODED AND HAD FAILED. *TR
THE TRUCK HAS 110K MILES ON THE DURAMAX / ALLISON DRIVE TRAIN. THE DIESEL FUEL INJECTION PUMP FAILED UNEXPECTEDLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THIS POWERTRAIN COMBINATION SHOULD BE CAPABLE OF 500K MILES WITHOUT PROBLEMS LIKE THIS. THIS PUMP SHOULD NOT FAIL AFTER NORMAL USE IN ONLY 110K MILES. NOTHING BUT EXCUSES AND OTHER NOT POSSIBLE REASONS FOR THE POOR ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING EXHIBITED IN THEIR PRODUCT. THEY SAID THE METHANOL WATER INJECTION SYSTEM CAUSED THE FUEL INJECTION PUMP TO FAIL. METHANOL (NON CAUSTIC FLUID) IS INJECTED AIR SIDE OF THE ENGINE AND DOES NOT MIX WITH THE INJECTED FUEL UNTIL THE ENGINE CYLINDER. THE FUEL INJECTION PUMP SUPPLIES FUEL TO THE INDIVIDUAL INJECTORS THAT THEN IN TURN SUPPLIES THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL TO THE CYLINDERS. IF THIS CONDITION WAS TO HAPPEN ON THE ROAD PULLING A TRAILER / HEAVY LOAD IN HILLS OR OTHER CONFINED ROADWAYS PEOPLE COULD BE INJURED OR KILLED BY THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND CONTROL. GM BUSINESS PRACTICES ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO KILL AND HURT PEOPLE. *TR
BRAKE LINES BURSTING DUE TO FAULTY (CHEAP) MATERIAL. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL CHEVY TRUCKS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS BUT THIS IS THE WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN. LOOKS LIKE ALL LINES WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEY ARE MADE FROM CHEAP MATERIAL. *TR
TRAVELING TO WORK ON JUNE 17, 2014 MORNING VIA MD I695 PRESSED BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT IMMEDIATELY TO THE FLOOR PROVIDING VERY LITTLE BRAKING. PRIOR TO ENTERING MD I695 I HAD MADE SEVERAL STOPS FOR INTERSECTIONS AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND THE PEDAL FEEL AND FUNCTION WAS NORMAL. FORTUNATELY BEING A DIESEL ENGINE AND USE OF LOWER ENGINE GEARS I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STOP THE TRUCK WITHOUT INCIDENT. UPON INSPECTION BY GM DEALER MECHANICS IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED AND RUPTURED CAUSING LOSS OF HYDRAULIC FLUID. GM STATED THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AS THEY USE CORROSIVE MATERIALS ON ORIGINAL MANUFACTURE. SINCE ORIGINAL NEW PURCHASE THE TRUCK HAD BEEN SERVICED ON REGULAR INTERVALS AT A GM DEALER . EACH TIME WITH A COMPLETE VEHICLE INSPECTION. MOST RECENT WAS APRIL 4, 2014. NEVER DID AN INSPECTION REPORT THAT THE LINES WERE RUSTING. TOTAL COST OF REPAIR WAS $3,668.45. WHY IS GM PERMITTED TO USE MATERIALS THAT ARE ALWAYS GOING TO RUST AND FAIL? I DID NOT SEE A RECALL / SAFETY NOTICE ON THIS VEHICLE. I DID SEE RECALLS FOR OTHER MANUFACTURES, LIKE SUBARU, FOR THE SAME PROBLEM OF CORROSIVE BRAKE LINES. *TR
MY SON BORROWED MY TRUCK TO GET A TOOL BOX THAT HIS WIFE GOT HIM FOR FATHER'S DAY. I TOLD HIM TO BRING THE TRUCK BACK TO MY HOUSE BECAUSE I WANTED TO HOOK A TRAILER UP SO HE COULD TAKE A RIDING MOWER TO HIS HOUSE AND USE WHILE WE WERE OUT OF TOWN. WHEN HE CAME BACK I HAD HIM BACK THE TRUCK UP TO THE TRAILER AND WE HOOKED IT UP. WHEN HE GOT ON IT HE PUSHED THE BRAKE TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. WE UNHOOKED THE TRUCK AND HE DROVE IT ACROSS THE YARD TO MY GARAGE. AFTER LOOKING FOR AND NOT FINDING ANY LEAKS I CHECKED THE FLUID RESERVOIR AND COULD NOT FEEL ANY FLUID. WE WENT TO AUTO ZONE AND GOT A BOTTLE OF BRAKE FLUID DOT3 AND FILLED THE RESERVOIR UP AND HE LOOKED FOR A LEAK WHILE I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL. HE FOUND IT LEAKING FROM A LINE ABOVE THE FUEL TANK RIGHT BEHIND THE PASSENGER DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE BRAKE LINES WAS RUSTED AND THEY NEED REPLACED ALONG WITH THE TWO FRONT CALIPERS. JUST THANKFUL THE LINE DID NOT BUST WHILE HE AND HIS WIFE WERE NOT ON THE INTERSTATE NOR AFTER WE GOT THE TRAILER HOOKED UP AND WENT TO HIS HOUSE WHICH HAS SOME VERY STEEP HILLS. TEN WORKING DAYS AND $1800.00 LATER I HAVE MY TRUCK BACK. *TR
BRAKE PEDAL PUSH TO THE FLOOR, OIL COMING OUT ONTO THE GROUND, BRAKE LINES RUSTED OUT IN MANY PLACES UNDER THE HOOD. *JS
BRAKE LINES RUSTED AND RUPTURED RESULTING IN COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKING. RUPTURED LINE WAS ONE GOING TO THE ANTILOCK PUMP AND THUS ALL BRAKING WAS LOST. ANTILOCK PUMP AND BRAKE LINES ARE ALL EXPOSED UNDER THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE AND ARE THUS COMPLETELY EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS. THIS IS THE SECOND CHEVROLET TRUCK (PREVIOUS REPORT WAS 2001 MODEL YEAR THAT FAILED IN 2010 WITH THE SAME HYDRAULIC SYSTEM DESIGN THAT HAD THE SAME COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO THIS SAME HYDRAULIC LINE RUPTURE.) WERE IT NOT FOR THE FACT THAT THIS OCCURRED AT LOW SPEED WITH A TRAILER ATTACHED THAT HAD ELECTRIC BRAKES, VEHICLE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO BE STOPPED BEFORE ENTERING AN INTERSECTION. ON JUNE 7, 2014, WE WERE DRIVING OUR 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO HD WESTBOUND THROUGH KANSAS ON I70. A STRONG VIBRATION FORCED US TO EXIT. THE AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN IDENTIFIED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE HAD SLIPPED A BELT. WE PURCHASED A NEW TIRE (NO FIRESTONE AVAILABLE). ALL TIRES WERE ROTATED AND BALANCED. IN AUGUST 2014, A SIMILAR VIBRATION WAS NOTICED. ON AUGUST 21, 2014, AFTER AN EXTENSIVE, MULTI-POINT INSPECTION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE DRIVER'S REAR TIRE HAD SLIPPED A BELT. REPLACEMENT NECESSARY. OF THE REMAINING TWO FIRESTONE TIRES, ONE APPEARS TO BE FROM THE SAME BATCH (CORRESPONDING DOT#) AS THE DRIVER'S REAR TIRE THAT WAS JUST REMOVED. REPLACEMENT RECOMMENDED. THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE APPEARS TO BE FROM A DIFFERENT BATCH, BUT WILL BE REPLACED. (UNFORTUNATELY, WE HAVE NOT BEEN UNABLE TO LOCATE A RECORD OF THE DOT# FROM THE TIRE REPLACED IN JUNE 2014.) FIRESTONE HAS INITIALLY DENIED REPLACEMENT/COMPENSATION TO THE AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESS PERFORMING THE REPAIRS. *TR
DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY ROAD WHEN SEVERAL DEER RAN IN FRONT OF VEHICLE. SLAMMED ON BRAKES AND THE PEDAL, AFTER A FEW SECONDS, WENT TO THE FLOOR. NOTICED BIG PUDDLE OF FLUID THE NEXT DAY UNDER CAB OF TRUCK. STARTED TRUCK AND HAD NO BRAKES AT ALL. HAD THE TRUCK INSPECTED BY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND WAS INFORMED THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTY BEYOND THE POINT OF REPAIR. HAD TO HAVE A WHOLE NEW BRAKE LINE KIT INSTALLED. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING AT 50 MPH INTO TOWN. THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME HAD STOPPED AND WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN. I DID NOT SEE THE LEFT BLINKER RIGHT AWAY. WHEN I STEPPED ON MY BRAKES, MY LEFT BRAKE LINE BLEW AND I LOST MY BRAKES AND REAR ENDED THE CAR. MY SPEED AT IMPACT WAS AROUND 40 TO 45 MPH. THE AIRBAGS IN THE TRUCK DID NOT GO OFF. I SUSTAINED WHIPLASH IN MY NECK AND LEFT SHOULDER FROM THE IMPACT TO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. *TR
GOT INTO TRUCK TO PULL OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND STEPPED ON BRAKE PEDAL. PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, HEARD A HISSING NOISE AND SAW FLUID DRIPPING DOWN THE SIDE OF THE GAS TANK. TOOK A CLOSER LOOK WHERE LEAK WAS AND CAN SEE THE BRAKE LINE IS ALL RUSTED. CHECKED MASTER CYLINDER AND FLUID WAS LOW. *TR
I NOTICED THIS PAST WEEKEND THAT MY SPEEDOMETER STARTED TO MALFUNCTION....ALONG WITH THE OIL GAUGE, & BATTERY GAUGE. THEY ALL WERE PEGGED OUT & NOT READING CORRECTLY. THE TACHOMETER SEEMS TO WORK STILL, BUT IT IS HESITANT AT TIMES TOO. THE SPEEDOMETER HAD A ISSUE A COUPLE MONTHS AGO, BUT IT SEEMED TO DISAPPEAR UNTIL THIS PAST WEEKEND. I WOULD THINK THERE WOULD BE SOME TYPE OF RECALL ON THIS AFTER READING ALL THE ISSUES PEOPLE HAVE HAD IN THE PAST. YES, THIS TRUCK IS 8 YEARS OLD, BUT WHEN I BOUGHT IT ONLY HAD 22,000 MILES. I HAVE ONLY HAD IT ABOUT 10 MONTHS & ONLY PUT 9,500 MILES ON IT. *TR
I WENT TO START MY TRUCK IN MORNING TO GET TO WORK AND THIS LOUD TICKING NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD, I SHUT ENGINE OFF PANICKING AND OPENED THE HOOD. WENT BACK AND STARTED TRUCK AGAIN AND LOOKED AROUND, I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING BUT HEARD IT. CHECKED OIL SINCE IT SOUNDED LIKE THE LIFTERS BUT HAD PLENTY OF OIL. STOPPED ON WAY TO WORK AND GOT SOME SLICK50 SUPERCHARGE ENGINE TREATMENT. AT BREAKTIME CHECKED OIL AGAIN AND ADDED THE SLICK50, STARTED ENGINE AND HAD LIFTER NOISE AGAIN BUT QUIETED DOWN WITHIN 30 SECS. AT THE END OF MY WORK DAY STARTED IT UP AND AGAIN LIFTER NOISE BUT QUIETED DOWN AGAIN WITHIN 30 SEC. BROKEN EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS WERE FOUND. *TR
DASH LIGHTS GO OUT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD HAVE TO PUSH ON DASHBOARD TO MAKE THEM COME BACK CONCERNED THAT THIS MAY BE A FIRE HAZARD
WHETHER VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR AT IDLE, THE "CLIMATE (DUEL) CONTROL ON DRIVER'S SIDE SUDDENLY STOPS BLOWING COLD AIR AND BLOWS PURE HOT AIR. THIS BEYOND THE OPERATOR'S CONTROL. HOWEVER, WHEN THE IGNITION IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, AIR CONDITIONER STARTS BLOWING COLD AGAIN BUT SOONER OR LATER WILL BEGIN BLOWING HOT. THERE IS NOTHING THAT THE OPERATOR DOES TO CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN, BUT IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING AND EMBARRASSING WHEN IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING. BY THE WAY I HAD A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO THAT DONE THE SAME THING. THIS IS HAPPENS ANY TIME THE CONTROL IS SET TO COOL.

I OBSERVED WATER COMING FROM THE MUFFLER. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER ON APRIL 22, 2014. ( MILEAGE 84241) DEALER FOUND BLOWN HEAD GASKET AND SEALS, ONE CRACKED HEAD AND WATER IN OIL. REPAIRS DONE: COMPLETE VALVE JOB (REPLACE HEAD GASKET, SEALS & OTHER ASSOCIATED PARTS), REPLACE BROKEN BOLTS, REPLACE COOLANT HOSES, RADIATOR & HEATER HOSES AND THERMOSTAT ETC.. WAS NOT ADVISED BY SERVICE CONSULTANT OF ANY RECALLS OR BULLETINS FOR 2005 SILVERADO. THIS IS LOW MILEAGE FOR THIS KIND OF ENGINE PROBLEM. RIGHT SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS BOLTS RUSTED OFF CAUSING EXHAUST GASES TO ESCAPE AND CAUSING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON.CANNOT GET THE VEHICLE STATE INSPECTED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. MECHANIC SAYS IT NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED TO GET VEHICLE INSPECTED.THE OTHERS LOOK LIKE THEY MAY BE FAILING ALSO. THIS IS A BIG OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE SINCE IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
HAULING MY TRAILER WHEN I DEPRESSED BRAKE PEDAL AND PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR BRAKE LINE UNDER DRIVERS CAB ROTTED AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION ALL LINES ON VEHICLE ARE ROTTED AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. HAPPY IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED. LUCKY MY 36FT FIFTH WHEEL HAS BRAKES SO I COULD USE MY TRAILER BRAKES TO STOP THE TOTAL UNIT. IF I WERE ON A MAIN STREET DOING REGULAR SPEED I COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE. *TR
