TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 1500. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE THERE WAS A KNOCKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE. WHEN HE NOTICED THAT THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE, HE ADDED OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE NO OIL LEAKS IN THE ENGINE. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECUR EVERY 1,000 MILES AND EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS MISSING APPROXIMATELY 1 OR 2 QUARTS OF OIL. EACH TIME THE FAILURE RECURRED AN OIL LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD UNTIL MORE OIL WAS ADDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER HAS REPLACED THE VALVE COVER GASKET BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,200. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 22,235.
TAKATA RECALL, GM RECALL 49152, NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 16V383. FIRST, I WANT TO KNOW WHETHER TAKATA OR GENERAL MOTORS OR CHEVROLET DIVISION OF GENERAL MOTORS IS PRIMARILY RESPONSIBLE TO ME FOR MAKING THE NECESSARY REPLACEMENT AND REPAIRS TO MY BEFORE-MENTIONED VEHICLE. SECOND, I WANT A TIMELINE AS TO WHERE WE ARE TODAY, AND WHAT STEPS WILL BE TAKEN IN THE FUTURE, AND A TIMELINE FOR WHEN THESE STEPS WILL BE IMPLEMENTED. WE ARE NOW AT LEAST TEN (10) YEARS INTO THIS MESS. I WANT TO KNOW EXACTLY HOW AND WHEN MY VEHICLE WILL BE PUT INTO THE SAFE OPERATING CONDITION I PAID FOR IT TO BE IN WHEN I BOUGHT IT TEN(10) YEARS AGO!
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS DIM. HE STATED THAT HIS WIFE WAS SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AT THE TIME AND WEIGHS 120 POUNDS. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS OFF 75% OF THE TIME AND SHOULD BE ILLUMINATED AT ALL TIMES WHEN THE PASSENGER SEAT IS OCCUPIED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HIS WIFE'S WEIGHT IS TOO LIGHT TO ACTIVATE THE SYSTEM, WHICH IS A NORMAL FUNCTION. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND CONCLUDED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD SEND HIM A VIDEO TO SUPPORT THE DEALER'S CONCLUSION. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 650 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 350. UPDATED 12/12/2007 *BF UPDATED 12/12/07. *JB
BRAKE LIGHTS OPERATE UNTIL BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE IS REDUCED. REPLACED THE BRAKE SWITCH. PROBLEM NOT RESOLVED. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WHICH WAS PURCHASED USED ON AUGUST 25, 2007. SHE STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STEER ON ITS ON TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEEDS OVER 10 MPH. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT MOVE WHILE THIS WAS HAPPENING, ONLY THE VEHICLE ITSELF. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER MADE REPAIRS TO THE TIRES, TOW IN AND TOW OUT MECHANISMS, AND PERFORMED A WHEEL ALIGNMENT, TO NO AVAIL. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO DATE TO CORRECT THE ACTUAL FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY RISK SINCE A POTENTIAL CRASH COULD OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS 35,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, A VEHICLE AHEAD OF HIM MADE AN UNEXPECTED LEFT TURN. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE THE PRECEDING VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED ACCORDINGLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER WHERE UNKNOWN REPAIRS WERE MADE THE VEHICLE WAS TRADED IN. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 28,000. INTERMEDIATE STEERING COLUMN, CLUNKING NOISE RADIATING UP THROUGH THE STEERING COLUMN, VERY PRONOUNCED WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE, NOISE HAS BECOME WORSE AND OWNER IS ANNOYED AND CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. CONTACTING THE DEALER, THEY WANT TO CHARGE FOR THE DIAGNOSIS OF THE PROBLEM. DEALER HAS ALSO STATED THAT THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE PROBLEM WAS PRESENT WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE SHOCK ABSORBERS ON THE FRONT AND HAD NO DESIRE TO HAVE THE SAME 'CHEAP' SHOCKS REPLACED. UPON MY OBTAINING FOUR KYB BRAND SHOCK ABSORBERS AND INSTALLING THEM, IT BECAME APPARENT TO ME THAT THERE WAS A DIFFERENT PROBLEM. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND A 'SERVICE BULLETIN' CONCERNING THE PROBLEM. UPON TALKING TO THE DEALER AND A FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE, I REALIZED THAT THEY DID NOT GIVE A DARN - THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING COLUMN. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH NOT ONLY MY VEHICLE 'TYPE' BUT ALSO MANY OTHER GM VEHICLE 'TYPES.' *TR
ROOF SUPPORT AND EXTERIOR REAR-VIEW MIRRORS COMBINE TO CREATE A WIDE BLIND SPOT ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES. ON THE DATE MENTIONED, I NEARLY RAN OVER A PEDESTRIAN AS HE WAS IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE BLIND SPOT AND AS HE WALKED ACROSS THE STREET, REMAINED IN THAT AREA UNTIL I WAS ALMOST ON TOP OF HIM. ON MANY SUBSEQUENT DATES, I HAVE HAD CARS APPEAR FROM 'NO WHERE' DUE TO BEING IN THAT AREA WHEN I APPROACH AN INTERSECTION. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THIS BLIND SPOT CONTRIBUTED TO THE DEATH OF A TEENAGE GIRL DRIVING A SIMILAR TRUCK, SHE WAS KILLED AT AN INTERSECTION NORTH OF LYNDON, KANSAS. *TR
BLINDING HEADLIGHTS ARE EQUIPPED AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. *TR
THIS PROBLEM PERTAINS TO A 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO. THE VENT FAN / AIR CONDITIONING SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I STARTED TO SEE SMOKE COME OUT FROM UNDER THE DASHBOARD BY THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE CONNECTOR THAT WAS ATTACHED TO THE RESISTOR FOR THE A/C AND HEATER WAS MELTING DUE TO EXTREME HEAT. THE BLACK WIRE WAS GLOWING BRIGHT RED AND WAS MELTING THE PLASTIC ON THE CONNECTOR. AFTER A PHONE CALL TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED, I FOUND OUT THAT CHEVY ALREADY NEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THAT THEY HAD SEEN IT MANY TIMES. THE PARTS TO REPAIR IT WERE IN STOCK, THEY WERE PURCHASED AND REPLACED. THE FAN AND A/C ARE NOW WORKING. *JB
CHEVY PU CREW CAB LESS THAN 7000 MI ON BRIDGESTONE DUELER A/T 693II P26570R17 TIRES ARE CRACKING ALMOST HALF WAY AROUND IN THE TREAD GROOVES TWO TIRES SO FAR I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT NEW THEY SAID IT WAS A DEFECT AS DID TWO OTHER TIRE SUPPLIERS BUT THE BRIDGESTONE FIRESTONE DEALER IS NOT WANTING TO REPLACE TIRES ON UNION RD IN MY TOWN I JUST HOPE WE DON'T HAVE ANOTHER TIRE CO THAT DOESN'T WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR POOR WORK AND TAKE CARE OF PROBLEM TIRES BEFORE MORE PEOPLE GET HURT!*JB
1. NO EVENTS NOTED. 2. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND STABILITY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATE PERIODICALLY. WHEN EVER THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT IS ON, THERE IS A VERY SHARP JOLT IN THE REAR END WHENEVER THE VEHICLES START MOVING. 3. TAKEN INTO THE DEALER TWICE NOW. NO REMEDY. STATED THEY THROUGH IT WAS THE FUEL BEING USED. SO I HAVE RAN SEVERAL TANKS OF FUEL THROUGH IT NOW AND IT STILL HAS THE LIGHTS. I HAVE MADE SURE I PURCHASED FUEL FROM LARGE DEALER SUCH AS SHELL OR CONOCO TO MAKE SURE FUEL SHOULD BE GOOD. I WILL TAKE THE TRUNK IN AGAIN THIS WEEK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. NINE MONTHS AFTER THE CONTACT PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, HE HAD IT DETAILED. HE BEGAN NOTICING RUST SPOTS ALL OVER THE VEHICLE AND THE UNDERCARRIAGE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO IRON DEPOSIT FROM THE TRANSPORTATION RAIL. AN ACID BATH TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WOULD COST $400. THE REPAIR WAS NOT PERFORMED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLANKING NOISE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER STOPPED THE CLANKING NOISE; HOWEVER, IT RECURRED A WEEK LATER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE SHOP AT LEAST EIGHT TIMES FOR THE SAME FAILURE, BUT THERE IS NO REMEDY TO SATISFY THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WOULD NOT ACCEPT THE VEHICLE BACK UNLESS ALL THE FAILURES WERE RESOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,386.
BRAKE LIGHTS GO OUT WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS RELEASE SLIGHTLY, BUT BRAKES ARE STILL BEING APPLIED. EXAMPLE - WHEN I PUSH THE PEDAL DOWN 75% AND BACK OFF TO 50% THE BRAKES LIGHTS GO OUT UNTIL I PUSH THE PEDAL BACK DOWN. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS WORKING AS DESIGNED, BUT I HAVE NEARLY BEEN REAR-ENDED MULTIPLE TIMES. *TR
DRIVE SHAFT DROPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. ALSO, SECOND SET OF TIRES ARE SHREDDING. FIRST SET OF GENERAL TIRES REPLACED @ 7K MILES. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2007 CHEROLET SILVERADO CREW CAB USED (19,000 MI.) FROM MAROONE CHEVEROLET. I NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WAS SHAKEY AND THERE WAS A VIBRATION. THE SALESMAN SAID THAT THE TRUCK HAD A FULL NEW CAR WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD FIX IT. NOTE: THEY CLAIMED TO DO A 117 POINT CHECK TO BE GM CERTIFIED! THIS TRUCK SHAKES, WOBBLES AND RATTLES FROM DRIVING FROM NORMAL TO A LITTLE BUMP IN THE ROAD. TRANSMISSION WAS KLUNKING BETWEEN GEARS, IT IS BETTER, BUT NOT NORMAL. THE GAS MILLAGE DOES NOT COME CLOSE TO THE ADVERTISE STICKER ON WINDOW OF 16 - 21 MPG. I AM ONLY GETTING 12 MPG IN TOWN AND 17 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY. ABOUT 75% OF WHAT WAS EXPECTED. THE DEALER CLAIMS THIS IS AN ALL NORMAL WITH THIS TRUCK! *JB
DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT WELDS THAT HOLD THE SEAT ON THE FRAME/BODY BROKE CAUSING NOTICEABLE CREAKING AND GRINDING NOISES WITH SLIGHT MOVEMENT WHEN COMING TO STOPS OR ACCELERATING. THIS IS AN '07 SILVERADO 1500 CLASSIC WORK TRUCK. I HAVE READ OF SIMILAR CASES AT OTHER WEB SITES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH OF HIS CHILDREN (4 AND 6 YEARS OLD) WERE ABLE TO TURN THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND PLACE THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE, WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS AND CRASHED INTO A TREE WHILE THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WAS OPEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY $14,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE DAMAGE WAS MOSTLY IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS THE DOORS COMING APART DUE TO THE IMPACT OF THE CRASH. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 7,332.

HESITATION AT 12000+- WHEN DOWNSHIFTING FROM OVERDRIVE TO 3 GEAR WHEN TRAVELING BETWEEN 45 TO 60 MPH & WAS ONLY NOTICEABLE WHEN TRAVELING ON UPHILL GRADES. ALSO A NOTICEABLE DROP IN FUEL MILEAGE WAS NOTICED. TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AT 12800. DEALERSHIP UPDATED THE ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE. HESITATION PRESENT. RIDE ALONG PERFORMED WITH THE SHOP FOREMAN AT 12900+- THE VEHICLE DID HESITATE. SHOP FOREMAN RECOMMENDED CHANGING BRANDS OF FUEL, ROAD FORCE BALANCE THE TIRES & FUEL FILTER. DIFFERENT BRANDS OF FUEL WERE USED & WAS BROUGHT IN FOR RECOMMENDED SERVICE AT 12937. FUEL FILTER WAS NOT REPLACED. HESITATION PRESENT. DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED PERFORMING A SNAPSHOT OF VEHICLE COMPUTER FOR GM. 5 WEEK WAIT FOR EQUIPMENT FOR SNAPSHOT WHILE PROBLEMS WORSEN. SNAPSHOT TAKEN ON 7/23/07 & SENT TO GM. 3 WEEK WAIT FOR GM RESPONSE WHILE PROBLEMS WORSEN. CONTACTED CHEVY CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE (CCA) TO DISCUSS -CASE # 71-543486241. GM STATES THAT VEHICLE WAS WITHIN VEHICLE SPECS. RIDE ALONG WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS PERFORMED AT 15500+-. DEALERSHIP FINAL STATEMENT ?DRIVE-ABILITY CHARACTERISTICS OF VEHICLE?. CALLED CCA FOR NEXT STEP CCA STATED THERE WAS NOTHING CCA COULD DO BUT I COULD HAVE ANOTHER DEALER LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE TAKEN TO SECOND DEALERSHIP FOR A RIDE ALONG WITH SERVICE MANAGER AT-16K MILES. SERVICE MANAGER STATED THE VEHICLE DID NOT PERFORM PROPERLY & WOULD INVESTIGATE. CALLED TO CCA TO UPDATE. DEALER CALLED ME, STATED NUMEROUS SERVICE BULLETINS THAT MATCH VEHICLE PROBLEMS BUT NO FIX AVAILABLE. CALLED CCA TO ASK IF & WHEN A FIX WOULD BE AVAILABLE, TOLD THEY DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THAT INFO. ASKED FOR A PHONE NUMBER FOR A DEPT AT CHEVY THAT COULD PROVIDE ANSWER BUT CCA NOT ALLOWED TO GIVE OUT NUMBER. ASKED WHAT OPTIONS I HAVE WITH CHEVY, TOLD THAT I MUST WAIT 5 DAYS FOR FURTHER INFORMATION. VEHICLE NOW HESITATES, LOOSES POWER & WILL DISENGAGE CRUISE CONTROL CREATING A SAFETY ISSUE. AS I SHIFTED MY POSITION IN THE SEAT SLIGHTLY ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE THE SEAT BELT LOCKED & I TRIED TO PULL IT A LITTLE IT BECAME LOCKED.I TRIED TO GET IT TO RELEASE INSTEAD IT BEGAN TO EVEN TIGHTER AND BEGAN TO PUT A LOT OF PRESSURE ON MY CHEST I PANICKED AND HAD TO GRAB FOR THE RELEASE LATCH AS IT CONTINUED TO STRUGGLE TO BREATH, ONCE I GOT TO BELT OFF , I HAD TO RE-ADJUST IT & SECURE IT AGAIN THIS BECAME A ISSUE THAT I FELT NEEDED TO BE REPORTED TO GM BY WHICH I OPEN THE GLOVE BOX AND LOCATED THEIR NUMBER FROM THE OWNERS MANUAL AN FILED A VERBAL COMPLAINT .I CALLED BACK SEVERAL TIMES AS EACH EVENT HAPPENED TO LEAVE WHAT I THOUGHT WOULD BE A PAPER TRAIL BUT THEY NEVER DID ANY THING ABOUT IT CONTINUES TO BE A ONGOING ISSUE THAT GM WANT TO BRUSH OFF , SO I FEEL NECESSARY TO FILE THIS EN LIGHT OF HOW GM IS PUTTING OUR LIVES AT RISK OVER MONEY, WE'LL NOT BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF EVER AGAIN ; DEDICATED OWNERS "NO-MORE". *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHEN THE CONTACT HAS HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE PEDAL WILL SLOWLY EXTEND DOWN TO THE FLOORBOARD. HE REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER BECAUSE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT IT WAS LEAKING. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 16,316 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,351.

2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO TPMS (TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM) INOPERATIVE. THE TPMS SYSTEM DOES NOT RELEARN AS OUTLINED IN THE VEHICLE OWNER MANUAL AND IF ATTEMPTED THE SYSTEM IS RENDERED INOPERATIVE. DESPITE THIS INFORMATION THEY CONTINUE TO IGNORE THIS ISSUE. IT HAS NOW BEEN ONE YEAR SINCE THEY HAVE IDENTIFIED THIS ISSUE. I ALSO ATTEMPTED THE RELEARN PROCEDURE IN A 2008 VEHICLE AS WELL AND IT DID NOT FUNCTION EITHER. I HAVE MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS CONTACTING GM AND INCLUDING THE SELLING DEALER TO RESOLVE THIS AND NO FIX IS AVAILABLE. SPECIFICALLY GM BUSINESS RESOURCES PAULO SALVADOR (800-231-1841 EXT 11824) STATES ?NO FIX WILL BE AVAILABLE?. WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE PERFORMING THE RELEARN PROCEDURE THE SYSTEM IS DISABLED AND INOPERATIVE. I DON'T THINK THIS WAS THE INTENT OF THE SYSTEM. THE DEALER HAS BEEN ABLE TO RELEARN THE SYSTEM USING A TOOL ONLY AND THIS OPERATION IS NOT 100% EITHER. SOME INSTANCES THE TIRES WERE RELEARNED IN THE WRONG LOCATIONS. PERSONALLY THIS RESULTED IN A FRONT TIRE LOW INDICATION WHEN ACTUALLY IT WAS THE RIGHT REAR TIRE THAT WAS LOW. AND AS STATED BEFORE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RELEARN, THE SYSTEM GOES INOPERATIVE AND NO TIRE PRESSURE INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE. FURTHER RESEARCH CONCLUDED THAT DEALER TECHNICIANS DO NOT RELEARN TPMS WHEN ROTATING OR SERVICING TIRES. GM NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE INCOMPETENCE IN DEVELOPMENT AND REPAIR OF THIS SYSTEM. ON JUNE 6, 2006, WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL OPERATED ON ITS OWN AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A POLE. THE SPEED AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH WAS 5 MPH. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TIE ROD IN THE FRONT HAD DETACHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT SEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR FURTHER RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THAT THE FAILURE IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS SOME ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE ENGINE SIZE AND POWERTRAIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 8,143.
VEHICLE IS PARKED IN GARAGE OVERNIGHT,GET IN TO START ,SHIFT LEVER IN PARK,TURN ON KEY,VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION SENDS OUT A "CLUNK", AS IF TO ENGAGE AND GO FORWARD OR BACKWARD. THIS TYPE OF ACTION STARTED AROUND 8000 MILES AS A SLIGHT, "CLUNK" EXTENDING INTO 49000 MILES WITH A HARD JARRING"CLUNK". OF COURSE I TOOK IT TO DEALER IN THE COURSE OF THE WARRANTY ,HAD THEM NOTE AND RECORD DEFECT,HOWEVER DEALER COULD NOT GET VEHICLE TO PERFORM THIS OPERATION WHILE IN THEIR POSSESSION WHICH EXTENDED OVER NIGHT AND SOMETIMES 2 NIGHTS. WHILE THE VEHICLE DOES NOT DO THIS ON A REGULAR BASIS,IT IS NOTABLY GETTING A HARDER SOUNDING, MORE PRONOUNCED "CLUNK". THE SHIFTING NOISE OF THE TRANSMISSION IS BECOMING EVIDENT, THAT IS IN LOW SPEED THERE IS MORE ROUGH CLUNKING AS THE TRANSMISSION GOES THROUGH IT'S GEARS. *TR

THE TRUCK WAS IN THE SHOP 2 OR 3 DAYS FOR THAT. THE HARD SHIFTING WAS STILL THERE. WE CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT. A COUPLE DAYS LATER MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK, AND IT STALLED ON HIM WHILE DRIVING. WE DROVE IT FOR ABOUT A WEEK LIKE THAT UNTIL I CALLED GMAC TO REPORT TO THEM WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH THE TRUCK. THE WOMEN I TALKED WITH TOLD ME IT WAS A SAFTEY ISSUE AND NEEDED TO BE TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP.WE TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP EVERYTIME THE TRUCK WOULD STALL WHILE DRIVING AND NOTHING SHOWED UP ON ANY DASHBOARD DISPLAYS. WHEN THE DEALERSHIP HAD IT,THEY HOOKED A COMPUTER TO IT AND DROVE IT. IT DID STALLED ON THEM, AND THEIR COMPUTER REGISTERED A FAILURE, BUT IT SHOWED NO CODES. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAD TO CONTACT GM TO FIND OUT WHAT TO DO. WE NEEDED OUR TRUCK BY FRIDAY BECAUSE OF PRIOR PLANS. WE CALLED GMAC COMPLAINT LINE ON THURSDAY TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. WE TALKED WITH THE COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT AS WELL AS THEIR SAFTEY DEPARMENT EXPLAINING EVERYTHING THAT WAS GOING ON AND THAT WE NEEDED THETRUCK. THEY SAID THERE WAS REALLY NOTHING THEY COULD DO, AND PRETTY MUCH TOLD US WE COULD PICK THETRUCK UP, KNOWING IT WAS ALREADY NOTED AS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. ON FRIDAY THE DEALERSHIP PUT A NEW COMPUTER IN IT, AND MY HUSBAND PICKED IT UP. ON SATURDAY MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DRIVING ON I-75 IN THE PASSING LANE GOING 75 MPH AND THE TRUCK QUIT ON US. WE ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT WITH A JEEP, ALONG WITH ALMOST GOING DOWN A HILL. I CALLED GMAC RIGHT AWAY TO LET THEM KNOW WHAT HAPPENED, ALONG WITH LETTING THEM KNOW THAT THE COMPUTER WASN'T THE PROBLEM. I JUST PURCHASED A 2007 CHEVROLET 1500 4/4 IN MAY. WHEN I PUT THE HITCH INTO THE RECEIVER I FOUND IT TO BE VERY LOOSE. THE FACTORY TOWING RECEIVER MEASURED 2-1/4 INCHES. THE FACTORY STANDARD HAS BEEN 2-1/16 FOR YEARS. IN 2006 CHEVERLOT MADE THIS CHANGE. THE 2006 MODELS WERE STARTING TO SPLIT IN THE PIN HOLES ,AND IT WILL ONLY BE A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL THE RECEIVER FAIL, CAUSING TRAILERS TOO SEPARATE FROM THE TOW VECHILE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE FRONT ROTORS WERE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIR THE FAILURE RESURFACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES, AND THE REAR BRAKES WERE CLEANED AND THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION HE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT BRAKES DRAG. NONE OF THE REPAIRS HAVE REMEDIED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,241.
GM HAS ISSUED A RECALL WITH NO SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM AND NO TIMELINE ON WHEN THEY WILL HAVE A SOLUTION RELATED TO THE TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL. OTHER BRANDS HAVE CORRECTED THE AIR BAG DEFECT WITH REPLACEMENT PARTS WHILE GM HAS NO SOLUTION.

AFTER NUMEROUS VISITS TO THE DEALER, THEY STATED THAT THE HYBRID BATTERY AND ENGINE FAILED. THE HYBRID CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED AND THE DEALER REPAIRED THE HYBRID OPEN FUSE MODULE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 345.

THE ROTORS WERE TURNED, BUT CONTINUE TO MAKE A SQUEALING NOISE. WHEN THE CONTACT DRIVES THROUGH WATER, THE DEALER STATED THAT WATER EATS AWAY AT THE ROTORS AND THEY BECOME CRYSTALLIZED AND CRACK. HE DOES NOT DRIVE THROUGH WATER THAT MUCH. THE TIRES THAT CAME WITH THE VEHICLE WERE RATED AT 25,000, BUT HAVE BEEN CHANGED FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES. THIS LAST TIME HE PURCHASED MICHELIN TIRES THERE WERE NO FAILURES. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD CALL HIM BACK. I BELIEVE 2 POSSIBLE CAUSES, ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM TRYING TO MAINTAIN "SAIL SPEED" IN A FUEL SAVING MODE AND/OR THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR DOES NOT KNOW WHERE THE DRIVERS FOOT IS. VEHICLE PERFORMS LIKE THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ON AT ALL TIMES, WILL ULTIMATELY SLOW DOWN AFTER EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF TIME. LOW SPEED OPERATION IS ESPECIALLY PROBLEMATIC BRAKES ARE CRITICAL IN CONTROLLING ENGINE SPEED AND OBVIOUSLY VEHICLE SPEED. WITH FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR VEHICLE WILL MAINTAIN 10 MPH SPEED IN PARKING LOT, WILL TRAVEL UP HILL FOR APROX. 30 TO 50 FEET BEFORE BEGINNING TO DECELERATE. THROTTLE RESPONSE IS EXTREMELY DELAYED AND TRANSMISSION SHIFT POINTS ARE CONFUSED AT TIMES. AT TIMES I PLACE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL GOING DOWN HILL TO GET ENGINE OUT OF SUSTAINED V-4 FUEL SAVING MODE SO I CAN BETTER CONTROL DOWNHILL SPEED. DEALER CONTACTED AND VEHICLE INSPECTED, I WAS INFORMED THAT IS THE WAY THE SYSTEM OPERATES AND CAN NOT BE ADJUSTED. ALSO TOLD THAT CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS STANDARDS PROHIBIT COMPLETE ENGINE IDLE DOWN BECAUSE SUDDEN IDLE DOWN WILL GENERATE UNBURNED FUEL. I WAS TOLD THAT THE MAINTAINED SPEED WAS THE "SAIL SPEED" AND THAT WAS JUST THE WAY IT IS DESIGNED TO OPERATE. VEHICLE PERFORMANCE IS NOT CONFIDENT OR PRECISE, DRIVER MUST BE CONSTANTLY AWARE OF UNINTENTIONAL ACCELERATION VIA SUSTAINED SPEED AND LACK OF DECELERATION WHEN WANTED. *JB
EXHAUST VIBRATES AT 1200 RPM TO 1400 RPM. THE WHOLE TRUCK MOANS AND VIBRATES. I WOULD THINK THE VIBRATION IN TIME WILL CAUSE PREMATURE FAILURE IN EXHAUST SYSTEM. *JB
