NEW TRUCK PURCHASED AUG 12, 2016 HAS A BAD VIBRATION AND SHAKING AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH AND ABOVE. THE DEALER BALANCED THE TIRES ON AUG 20TH BUT THE VIBRATION WAS STILL THERE ON THE WAY HOME. ON AUG 21RST THERE WAS A LOUD POPPING IN THE REAR END AND A LOT OF VIBRATION. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID A TIRE HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF A BROKEN BELT. I RECEIVED NO SERVICE TICKET OR DOCUMENTATION FOR EITHER OF THE REPAIRS. WHEN I CALLED GENERAL MOTORS CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE, THE REP SAID THAT THE DEALER HAD NO REPAIR TICKET LISTED FOR MY TRUCK. MY WIFE AND I FEEL THE TRUCK WILL NOT BE SAFE OR RELIABLE.
WINDSHIELD HAS WHAT LOOKS TO BE WATER SPOTS ON IT CANNOT BE SEEN WHEN WINDSHIELD IS DRY BUT WHEN MOIST OR RAINING WINDSHIELD BECOMES ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE THROUGH I TRIED SPOT REMOVER WITH NO LUCK CHEVROLET REFUSED TO AKNOWLEDGE THIS WAS A DEFECT AND I EVENTUALLY PAID TO REPLACE WINSHIELD MYSELF EVEN THOUGH I ONLY HAD TRUCK LESS THAN A YEAR I RECENTLY TRADED THE VEHICLE FOR A 2017 AND IT HAS THE SAME ISSUE I AM DONE WITH CHEVROLET!!!! LAST ONE I WILL OWN
THE TRUCK WAS TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE DRIVER HAD TO BRAKE FOR HEAVY TRAFFIC AHEAD. WITHOUT REASON BOTH SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT CAUSED THE DRIVER TO VEER OFF THE INTERSTATE AND ONTO THE FRONTAGE RD.THERE WAS NO IMPACT WITH ANYTHING PRIOR TO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO IMPACT AFTER DEPLOYMENT EITHER. THE DRIVER STATED THAT HE WAS HURT BY THE AIRBAGS. I RENDERED AID TO THIS DRIVER AND COMPLETED A INCIDENT REPORT. PASSENGER RIGHT FRONT VENT DOESN'T BLOW VERY MUCH AIR AT ALL TIMES... IT HAS NEVER BLOWED AS MUCH AIR AS THE OTHER VENTS.
MY TRUCK CAME WITH AN OPTIONAL $770.00 TRAILERING PACKAGE INCLUDING AUTO LOCKING 3.42 RATIO REAR END, 5.3 LITRE V-8. THE SALES PITCH IS I CAN NOW TOW 9800 POUNDS. THEY DON'T TELL YOU THAT THERE ARE NO TRAILER BRAKES! SO HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO STOP WHEN I'M TOWING 9800 LBS? I CONTACTED GM AND THEY GAVE ME A CLAIM # 8-2253662923 AND TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HEAR FROM THEM WITHIN 48 HOURS, 4 DAYS LATER I CALLED AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THAT A SUPERVISOR NEEDED TO TALK TO ME, SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE WOULD CONTACT THE DEALER ND SOMEONE WILL GET BACK TO ME, THAT WAS 2 WEEKS AGO. I THINK THAT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE CONDITION, THIS WILL KILL PEOPLE! ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
MY TRUCK IS A 2016 AND IS BURNING OIL TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT IT IS ACCEPTABLE FOR THIS TRUCK TO BURN OIL BUT FOR A BRAND NEW TRUCK I THINK IT IT'S NOT TRUE WHEN I HAD 2004 TAHOE AND I NEVER HAD ANY TROUBLE MY BROTHER BOUGHT A NEW TRUCK AND IS NOT BURNING ANYTHING
FROM THE DAY I TOOK POSESSION OF THE TRUCK I HAVE COMPLAINED OF A VIBRATION IN THE CHASIS. I WAS FIRST TOLD I HAD FLAT SPOTS ON THE TIRES AND WERE REPLACED. DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. NEXT TOLD I HAD A NAIL IN MY TIRE, HAD IT REPLACED, DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. NEXT THEY TOLD ME ABOUT A FRICTION/ROAD TEST THAT WAS NEEDED ON SOME 1500 PICK UPS. THEY "BALANCED MY TIRES" AND TOLD ME I WAS GOOD TO GO. DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND THE VIBRATION CONTINUES. THIS HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING AT 65MPH AND ABOVE ALTHOUGH IT HAS HAPPENED AT LOWER SPEEDS.
TREAD SEPARATION ON BRIDGESTONE TIRES DURING NORMAL OPERATION, TRAVELLING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT NORMAL SPEED. TIRES WERE FACTORY INSTALLED AND AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT HAD APPROXIMATELY 9,500 MILES ON THEM. TIRE, FORTUNATELY, DID NOT DEFLATE BUT A LARGE SECTION OF THE TREAD SEPARATED AND RELEASED FROM THE TIRE. VEHICLE IS OWNED BY AVIS.
THE 2016 SILVERADO HAS A PROGRAMMING ISSUE FOR THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN I DRIVE UNDER A LOAD GOING UP A HILL IT CHUGS LIKE I HAVE A MISS FIRE ISSUE. THE PROGRAMMING IS SET SO IT STAYS IN THE HIGHEST GEAR FOR TO LONG WHEN DRIVING IN CITY CONDITIONS. IT STAYS IN 6TH GEAR GOING 25-30MPH AND WHEN YOU NEED THE THROTTLE. THE TRANSMISSION CAN'T DECIDE WHICH GEAR TO BE IN. ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS I WENT TO PULL OUT OF A SIDE ROAD ONTO A MAIN ROAD AND THE TRUCK FELL FLAT ON ITS FACE LIKE I HIT A KILL SWITCH AND IT ALL MOST CAUSED ME TO GET T-BONED. I HIT THE THROTTLE MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE IT DECIDED IT WAS GOING TO 100% THROTTLE AND HAVE ME GOING OUT SIDEWAYS ONTO THE MAIN ROAD. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE CONFIRMED IT TO BE A PROGRAMMING ISSUE, BUT THERE IS NO FIX FROM GM AND THE DEALER CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITH IT BECAUSE OF EPA LAWS, BUT THERE ARE AFTERMARKET TUNERS THAT ADDRESS THIS VERY ISSUE AND FIXES THE PROBLEM AND ALSO VOIDS WARRANTY OF THE TRUCK. IT'S HAD THE ISSUE SINCE THE 2ND WEEK I'VE OWNED IT FROM NEW. THE DEALER TOLD ME TO KEEP CALLING GM TO COMPLAIN, BUT ALL GM DOES IS SEND ME TO THE DEALER. WHERE I'M TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. IT IS AN ONGOING ISSUE AND IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT CAUSES AN ACCIDENT OR DEATH IF IT HASN'T ALL READY. I HAVE 30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE AUTO TECHNICIAN FIELD AND MY FAMILY COMBINED OVER 100 YEARS. YOU KNOW THE ISSUE IS BAD WHEN A BEGINNER DRIVER NOTICES THE ISSUE. IF YOU HAVE A LOCAL PERSON. I'D BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO TAKE THEM FOR A RIDE TO SHOW THEM. FOR WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IT STARTED IN 2ND WEEK OF JULY TO PRESENT. IT ONLY HAD AROUND 300 MILES WHEN IT STARTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS APPLIED, BUT FAILED TO RESPOND. ADDITIONALLY, THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED TO ENGAGE INTO GEAR AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (QUIRK CHEVROLET, 1000 BRIGHTON AVE, PORTLAND, ME 04102) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.
THE STEEL CABLES THAT HOLD THE TAIL GATE IN THE DOWN POSITION ARE DIFFERENT LENGTHS. THE LEFT OR DRIVER SIDE CABLE IS THE ONLY CABLE THAT HAS TENSION ON IT IN THE DOWN POSITION. THE FULL WEIGHT OF THE TAIL GATE IS ONLY ON ONE CABLE THAT COULD CAUSE FAILURE OF THE CABLE DUE TO THE WEIGHT AND COULD CAUSE THE TAIL GATE TO TORQUE AND BE DAMAGED. THE SLACK ON THE RIGHT OR PASSENGER SIDE CABLE HAS ABOUT A 6 INCH PLAY IN IT. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND GM. THE DEALERSHIP AND GM STATED THAT WAS THE WAY THE CABLES WERE ENGINEERED. I OWNED A 2002 GMC SIERRA PREVIOUSLY AND BOTH CABLES ON THE TAIL GATE WERE THE SAME LENGTH, WHICH DISTRIBUTED WEIGHT EVENLY. I LOOKED AT OTHER 2016 SILVERADO MODELS AND MOST HAD EXCESSIVE SLACK ON THE RIGHT TAIL GATE CABLE AS MINE, BUT SOME DIDN'T. THIS PROBLEM COULD CAUSE INJURY IF WEIGHT IS ON THE CABLE AND COULD DAMAGE THE TAIL GATE ITSELF.
It is commonly known the Chevy 5.3 and 6.2 engines have lifter problems. Not sure why there has not been some sort of recall done already.
THE PAINT ON BODY OF TRUCK CHIPS AND SCRATCHES AS WELL AS HAS DEEP SWIRLS. IT IS JUST NOW A YEAR OLD AND THE FRONT END, HOOD, SIDES ALL HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO CHIPS AND SCRATCHES THAT SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING AT ALL. I HAND WASH MY VEHICLE SO IT IS NOT CAUSED BY A CAR WASH. THE PAINT IN OTHER BLOGS WITH CHEVROLET HAS BEEN KNOWN TO BE VERY FAULTY DUE TO EPA REGULATIONS. ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE HAD HAS NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE. MY DAUGHTER HAS A BLACK JEEP, NO PROBLEMS, I HAD A BLACK JEEP, NO PROBLEMS. I PAID THE MOST I HAVE EVER PAID FOR A VEHICLE AGAIN BLACK AND THE PAINT JOB IS HORRIBLE! SADLY IT IS SOMETHING WELL KNOWN FOR CHEVROLET.
ELECTRIC STEERING FAILED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS MULTIPLE TIMES DURING A LONG TRIP, WHEN NEW. THE STEERING, WHEN OUT, WAS VERY HARD TO STEER BUT DID NOT LOCK UP OR CAUSE ANY SUDDEN TRUCK MOVEMENTS. THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE THE ELECTRIC STEERING ON THE NEW TRUCK. NO MORE ISSUES AFTERWARDS.
THE SINGLE BULB FOR HIGH /LOW BEAM HID FACTORY HEADLIGHTS ARE TOO DIM IT'S HARD TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. I CANNOT USE AT NIGHT PAID TOO MUCH MONEY.
NO FAILURE, JUST POOR PERFORMANCE. GOODYEAR EAGLE LS-2 ON A 2016 SILVERADO. TIRES WERE SO OUT OF BALANCE THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHOOK AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE SHOP HAD TO REPLACE SEVERAL TIRES AS THEY COULD NOT BE BALANCED. DEFECTIVE TIRES!
VEHICLE SHIFTS REALLY HARD WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP OR WHEN ACCELERATING. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE THE TRUCK WAS BRAND NEW BUT CHEVY SAID THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME BUT I'D SAY IT'S ATLEAST A FEW TIMES EVERY TRIP. I TOLD CHEVY ABOUT IT EITHER IN THE FIRST OR SECOND YEAR AFTER BUYING THE TRUCK.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I TAKE MY VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER IT'S A 2016 SILVERADO 1500 IT HAS A VIBRATION THAT COMES FROM THE FLOORBOARD ON THE DRIVER SIDE THROUGH THE DRIVER'S SEAT STARTS ABOUT 60 65 MILES AND IT UP TO ABOUT 70 72 73 SOMEWHEAROUND THAT AREA NUTRA BALANCE IS NOW THE SECOND TIME AROUND THEY TRIED ROAD FORCE BALANCING WORKED FOR ABOUT 30 MILES VIBRATION BACK.
A CONDITION EXISTS WHERE, AFTER THE DRIVER HAS USED THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE, THEN HAS REMOVED THEIR FOOT FROM THE PEDAL, THEN PRESSES THE CRUISE "SET" BUTTON A BRIEF MOMENT LATER, AND THEN IMMEDIATELY ATTEMPTS TO DECELERATE BY REPEATEDLY PRESSING MINUS "-" ON THE CRUISE CONTROL, THAT THE SPEED CONTROL BECOMES CONFUSED AND DISPLAYS MULTIPLE DIFFERENT SPEEDS, WHILE MAINTAINING THE ORIGINAL SPEED, EVEN THOUGH THE DRIVER BELIEVES THEY ARE DECELERATING. THIS CAN BE REPRODUCED ON ANY 2016 SILVERADO MODEL BY FOLLOWING THESE STEPS: THROTTLE UP AND ACCELERATE (TO PASS, FOR EXAMPLE), REMOVE FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR, THEN IMMEDIATELY PRESS THE "SET" BUTTON, FOLLOWED BY 5-10 PRESSES ON THE DECELERATE "-" BUTTON; THE SPEED WILL SET AT 65, FOR EXAMPLE, THEN FLIP BETWEEN 64, 65, 63, 65, 62, 65, 61, 65, 60, 65, AND SO ON, MAINTAINING SPEED AT 65 EVEN THOUGH THE DRIVER IS INSTRUCTING THE VEHICLE TO DECELERATE. IT MAY TAKE 5-10 SECONDS FOR THE SPEED CONTROL TO CLEAR ALLOWING THE DRIVER TO MAKE CHANGES, HOWEVER THEY WILL STILL BE CRUISING AT 65. DURING THIS PERIOD, THE DRIVER DOES NOT REALIZE THAT THEY ARE NOT DECELERATING AT WHICH POINT THEY MAY TAP THE BRAKES TO DISENGAGE CRUISE, BUT HAVE LOST 5-10 SECONDS OF TIME. THIS HAS PRESENTED A DANGEROUS CONDITION WHERE THE DRIVER BELIEVES THEY'RE DECELERATING WHEN TOO QUICKLY APPROACHING ANOTHER VEHICLE, RISKING COLLISION.
ISSUE 1 - TRANSMISSION: THE CHEVROLET SILVERADO HAS A 6-SPEED TRANSMISSION THAT CLUNKS / HARD SHIFTS (VERY HARD). GM INDICATES THAT THIS IS NORMAL AND/OR THE TRANSMISSION IS ADAPTING TO YOUR DRIVING STYLE. THE CLUNK IS VERY DISTRACTION (STARTLING) WHEN DRIVING. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO HESITATES IN SELECTING GEARS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC. ON TWO OCCASION, I ATTEMPTED TO MERGE ON TO THE INTERSTATE AND THE DELAYED TRANSMISSION ENGAGEMENT ALMOST RESULTED IN A COLLISION. ISSUE 2 - ENGINE: THE CHEVROLET SILVERADO HAS AN ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT THAT DROPS THE TRUCK DOWN TO 4 CYLINDERS. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE ENTIRE TRUCK WILL VIBRATE / REVERBERATE CAUSING HEADACHES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED VIOLENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TIRES WERE BALANCED AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 308.
I BOUGHT A 2016 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 LTZ Z71 AND IT VIBRATES AT IDLE AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. I HAD ALREADY TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET IT FIX, BUT NO LUCK. GM TOLD ME THAT IS HOW THE TRUCK IS DESIGNED TO OPERATE, WHICH IS HARD TO BELIEVE. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY ZERO HELP FROM GM TO HELP ME RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I WAS GIVEN AN OPTION TO TRADE IT IN FOR A NEW ONE AT MY OWN EXPENSES OR DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM. FORD WOULD NOT TAKE MY TRUCK AS A TRADE IN NOR WILL GMC. THIS VEHICLE CAN POTENTIALLY BY DANGEROUS AND A LIABILITY AS THE TRANSMISSION SEEM TO HAVE A MIND OF ITS OWN AND THE CONSTANT VIBRATION CANNOT POSSIBLY HE GOOD FOR ANYONE.
ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING CAUSING LOSS OF NEEDED INFORMATION SUCH AS SPEED AND OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION. DEALER SAYS THERE IS A TSB THAT THE ENTIRE TRUCK HAS TO BE RE-FLASHED INCLUDING ALL MODULES IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. DURING THIS TIME, ALL SAFETY SYSTEMS FLASHED AND APPEARED TO BE INACTIVE. AIR BAG, TRACTION CONTROL, ABS, TRAILER BRAKING ETC. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED TO SEE IF A RECALL MUST HAPPEN. IF WE GOT IN AN ACCIDENT DURING THIS OCCURRENCE WHO KNOWS IF ANY OF THE SAFETY SYSTEMS ON THE VEHICLE WERE FUNCTIONING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE RATTLED AND VIBRATED ABNORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO WEBB CHEVY PLAINFIELD (16140 S LINCOLN HWY, PLAINFIELD, IL 60586, (815)261-0118) TO HAVE THE VEHICLE ROAD TESTED. THE MECHANIC ROAD TESTED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, A FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MECHANIC ALSO INSPECTED THE TIRES, TRANSMISSION, THE DRIVESHAFT, AND THE REAR AXLES, BUT FOUND NO ISSUES RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 750. *BF CONSUMER STATED HE IS STLL EXPERIENCING VIBRATION AND DEALER DID NOT HAVE ANY REPAIRS FOR THIS CONDITION.*JB
WHILE IN MOTION IN CITY AT INTERSECTION, STOPPED FOR LIGHT, PROCEEDED FORWARD BUT STEERING LOCKED, BRAKES, AND IGNITION SWITCH INACTIVE, A GRINDING CLICKING NOISE HEARD JUST AS BEGAN ACCELERATING BEFORE SAFETY FAILURE. TRUCK TOWED TO A DEALER, UNABLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE, RELEASED TRUCK, PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN IN THREE DAYS CAUSING VEHICLE TO BE TOWED AGAIN. MECHANIC UNSURE, NO ERRORS CODES, HOWEVER SOUNDED SIMILAR TO EARLY RECALL BY GM FOR IGNITION SWITCH TORQUE PROBLEMS, BUT NOISE COULD BE PER MECHANIC SOMETHING IN RACK AND PINION OR ROTARY VENE PUMP. DEALER NOT COMMITTING AND SUGGEST TO DRIVE. SAFETY FOR LIVES IS CONCERN IN THIS MATTER WITH LACK OF ELECTRICAL, STEERING, BRAKES, AND IGNITION CONTROL BY DRIVER.
THE ISSUE(S) THAT I AM EXPERIENCING ALL APPEAR TO BE WITH THE TRUCKS 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION. THE FIRST TWO OCCUR DURING BREAKING AND THE THIRD HAPPENS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A 'COLD' START. A DESCRIPTION OF EACH OF THE THREE MAJOR ISSUES ARE OUTLINED BELOW: 1)DURING INITIAL BREAKING THE TRUCK WILL BEGIN TO SLOW DOWN AS INTENDED AND WITHOUT WARNING IT ABRUPTLY ACCELERATES/SLIDES FORWARD (SEE BREAKING PROFILES). THIS TYPICALLY HAPPENS BETWEEN 10-20 MPH. 2)DURING BREAKING JUST BEFORE COMING TO A STOP I EXPERIENCE A HARD JERK OR SHUDDER (SEE BREAKING PROFILES). 3)DURING A 'COLD' START, IN THE MORNING OR AFTER WORK, THE TRANSMISSION WILL SOMETIMES SLIP AND SHIFT HARD WHILE PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY/PARKING LOT. THE ISSUES ARE ALL INTERMITTENT.
I HAVE WHAT HAS BEEN DEEMED "THE CHEVY SHAKE". TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND BALANCED. BUT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS 70 MPH AND ABOVE THERE IS A VERY NOTICEABLE VIBRATION IN THE TRUCK. I JUST READ A REPORT DESCRIBING THIS PROBLEM IN THE '14 & '15 MODELS BUT GM HASN'T FIXED THE PROBLEM YET IN '16.
I PURCHASED A 2016 SILVERADO 1500 4WD LTZ CREW ON FEBRUARY 08, 2016. ON FEBRUARY 20, 2016 WITH JUST 312 NEW MILES DRIVEN ON THE NEW VEHICLE, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING 60 MILES PER HOUR GOING WEST ON THE SOUTHERN STATE PARKWAY MIDDLE LANE IN NASSAU COUNTY NEW YORK. WITH NO POWER STEERING ON A SIX THOUSAND POUND TRUCK, I HAD TO STRUGGLE WITH TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL AWAY FROM OTHER VEHICLE ON THE PARKWAY AND EXIT THE PARKWAY WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I IMMEDIATELY CALL FOR ROAD SIDE SERVICED AND THE TRUCK WAS TOWED AND RETURN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. DURING THE INVESTIGATION, THE CHEVROLET SERVICE DEPARTMENT LOCATED IN VALLEY STREAM, NY STATED ON FEBRUARY 24, 2016 THAT THE ENTIRE ELECTRIC RACK OPINION FOR THE POWER STEERING WAS DEFECTED WHEN IT WAS INSTALLED DURING THE ASSEMBLY BY THE MANUFACTURE. THE 2016 SILVERADO 1500 TRUCK WAS PURCHASED NEW ON 2/08/2016, AND I HAVE CONCERNS THAT OTHER MECHANICAL PARTS IN THE VEHICLE MAY BE DEFECTED AND THE VEHICLE MAY BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
HAS THE CHEVY SHAKES BETWEEN 38 AND 70 MILE PER HOUR .5.3 V8 MOTOR AND 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION 342 REAR AXEL LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL . BEEN SELLING GM'S FOR 55 YEARS AND IF THIS WAS A DEMENSTRATOR WE WOULD NEVER NEVER SELL ANOTHER TRUCK.
REAR LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY, LEAF SPRING BUSHINGS AND HARDWARE PREMATURE FAILURE. POSSIBLE LEAF SPRING AND OR FRAME MOUNT INADEQUATELY DESIGNED. REAR LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY, SPECIFICALLY THE BUSHINGS AND MOUNTING HARDWARE FAILED ON ONE SET OF LEAF SPRINGS, AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF FAILING ON A SECOND REPLACEMENT SET, RESULTING IN UNDESIRABLE BIND/WOBBLE SOUNDS AND HOLLOW THUMP NOISE FELT INSIDE THE CABIN (NOISE SIMILAR TO A LOOSE SPARE TIRE WOBBLING AND STRIKING THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK BED). THE PROBLEM IS MOST NOTICEABLE AT LOW SPEEDS BOTH IN REVERSE AND FORWARD. THE MORE MILES ON THE VEHICLE, THE LOUDER AND MORE FREQUENT THE ISSUE BECOMES. THE CONCERN IS OF PREMATURE PART FAILURE OR BREAKAGE RESULTING IN INJURY. THE ORIGINAL SET OF GM LEAF SPRINGS THAT WERE INSTALLED AT THE GM FACTORY WERE MANUFACTURED IN CANADA AND FAILED AROUND 15,000 MILES. GM REPLACEMENT LEAF SPRINGS INSTALLED WERE MADE IN MEXICO AND ARE FAILING AT ABOUT 15,000 MILES. THE TOTAL MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE AS OF 5/30/2017 IS ABOUT 30,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE IS WELL CARED FOR AND IS ALWAYS SERVICED AT THE GM DEALERSHIP AT MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED INTERVALS. MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES. PRIMARILY DAILY COMMUTER VEHICLE TO AND FROM A DESK JOB. NO HAULING OR LOADS IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK. THE MANUFACTURER/DEALERS ISSUED TSB'S RECOMMENDING TO PRESSURE WASH THE LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY, CHECK SUSPENSION HARDWARE TORQUE SPECS, AND DISASSEMBLE, LUBE AND RE-ASSEMBLE THE LEAF SPRING PACK. THESE HAVE BEEN PERFORMED BY A GM DEALER AND DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. REPLACING THE SPRINGS HAS NOT PERMANENTLY RESOLVED THE ISSUE. GM TRUCK FORUMS INDICATE OTHER OWNERS OF THIS MODEL AND YEAR+/- REPORT THE SIMILAR EXPERIENCES IN THE CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 AND SIERRA MODEL GM PICKUPS. SOME OWNERS HAVE REPLACED FACTORY PARTS WITH AFTERMARKET LEAF SPRINGS WITH SUCCESS IN PERMANANTLY RESOLVING THE ISSUE AND CONCERN.
SUDDEN LOSS OF STEERING INCLUDING FRONT END SHAKE AND BRAKING PROBLEM.VEHICLE ONLY HAS 6000 MILES AND BOTH COUNTRY CLUB MOTORS AND CHEVROLET CORP.HAVE DENIED AND FAULT OF THERE'S.I AM A AUTO TECH OF 26 YEARS AND ASE CERTIFIED IN STEERING AND SUSPENSION BELIEVE THAT DEFECTIVE FRONT SUSPENSION PARTS ARE VERY MUCH TO BLAME BUT I AM GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM ALL ENDS.I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE IS A COVER UP AND REALLY NEEDS ATTENTION
THE FRONT SEAT SHIFTS AROUND WHEN CORNERING. THE TRUCK SHIFTS CONSTANTLY. IT CAN NEVER FIND THE CORRECT GEAR WHEN IT NEEDS ONE. IT CONTINUES EVEN AFTER THEY SHIMMED THE FRONT SEAT AND SHIFTING ISSUES HAPPEN DAILY.
GM WIRELESS CHARGING IN MY 2016 SILVERADO ISN'T COMPARABLE WITH ANY MODERN DEVICES. IT ONLY WORKS WITH THEIR RECOMMENDED DEVICES WHICH WASN'T STATED WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP.
We have replaced the engine twice and the transmission once spending 18,000 dollars on a truck that was 54,000 plus dollars that we bought in 2019 and we still owe over 5 grand on currently. Currently now were having a stablittrack malfunction weve been told by numerous mechanics how awful this year for yjis particular vehicle is because its the first year GM decided to put in a smart engine .we definitely regret ever buying this GM product we truly need help with the repairs for tnis truck ! Its stranded us numerous times even shutting off trying to go thru a red light !
