I pulled up to a traffic light at a busy intersection in Lubbock, TX, and the engine just shut down on approach to a red light. The vehicle still had power (radio, headlights, AC/heater, etc.) but the engine would not start or even turn over and try to start. The vehicle was towed to a Chevy dealership in Lubbock, TX, and they said they believed it was an internal engine failure but wouldn’t be able to look at it for several weeks. I had it transported to my hometown in Taylor, TX, and my certified mechanic replaced the starter and battery solenoid but the engine still wouldn’t start. They drained the oil and found metal shavings in the oil. They too believe that the engine suffered a catastrophic failure and needs to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle started to hesitate with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that there was a misfire in the engine, and her husband pulled off the roadway and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted and driven back to the residence at speeds no greater than 50 MPH. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the left engine lifters had collapsed and needed to be replaced. The contact was advised by the dealer that the right-side engine lifters should be replaced while the engine was disassembled. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
Transmission/ torque converter. Truck feels like you are riding over rumble strips and shaking steering wheel. Confirmed by dealer. No warning signs
I own a 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500, the truck currently has 51,400 miles on it. I started noticing a vibration while driving home from work that continued to get worse. After some quick online research I learned that the torque converter on the newer Chevy and GMC trucks is a weak point in their assembly. This is a very common issue and complaint for owners. The manufacturer has done nothing to resolve it or honor repairs on the defective product. My truck was one month out of the 5 year/60,000 mile warranty, they would not honor repairs because it was outside of the time window. The internal parts break up and destroy a transmission. Luckily i caught it early enough before it caused my transmission to fail while driving. I do not have the part with me. I took the truck to a shop for repairs and they did not return the defective part. No warning lights came on the dash.
The Timing Chain failed. It is at the Dealership available for inspection. Vehicle was unable to accelerate correctly while driving. If it had blown a valve or locked up the engine we would have been stuck on the highway with my kids in the vehicle. Problem has been confirmed with the dealer. It is a known defect with this vehicle but my VIN was not one that was recalled. No issues had came up before it failed. Just went to accelerate and you could feel it slipping and the truck stuttering forward.
Engine failed on interstate while pulling my RV. Almost had a bad wreck due to this happening. This is the known 6.2L engine failure issues. Had to have motor replaced by Chevrolet and had to pay out of my own pocket.
While driving at highway speeds, multiple warning lights illuminated on the dashboard at the same time, including engine and powertrain warnings. The vehicle suddenly began operating abnormally, with loss of power and unstable driving behavior, making it unsafe to continue driving. This same issue has occurred multiple times previously and the vehicle has been taken to an authorized Chevrolet dealership for repairs on three separate occasions. Each time, repairs were performed, but the problem returned. The most recent incident occurred while driving on the highway and created a serious safety risk to the driver and other vehicles. The vehicle is not safe to drive.
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal odor coming from the vehicle. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact became aware of coolant leaking from the front of the vehicle near the transmission, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact retrieved DTC: P0016. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the coolant control valve, motor mount, and camshaft timing had failed. The dealer informed the contact that the coolant control valve, motor mount, and wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.
The 6.2L engine failed. The same as the 2021-2024 recalls.
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, there was an abnormally loud engine camshaft bearing sound coming from the engine. The engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, and after three days, it was determined that the camshaft bearing had failed, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact linked the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and NHTSA Action Number: EA25007 (Engine and Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
Sudden intermittent loss of power steering, issue confirmed by Chevy Dealership. No warning lights were displayed.
Intermittent and sudden loss of power steering. The only message displayed briefly then went out was “service trailer brake controller”. Brought vehicle to Dealership. The grounding strap behind the front right wheel that goes to the frame (Earth Strap) was rotted. This seams to be a very common problem with this model truck and is dangerous.
At highway interstate travel speeds, vehicle was losing intermittent power. Exhaust at stopped, idle during trip smelled heavily of gasoline. White smoke blowing from exhaust with only 38k miles on the truck. Dealership is replacing the entire engine now and sounds like GM doesn’t want them to fully explore the cause of failure.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Based on information from ODI Resume EA25007 & Safety Recall N252494002, it is more than likely engine connecting rod bearing failure. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I was traveling at freeway speed, 70mph when it occurred. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? 11/25/25 at 12:33 (pacific), I am currently stranded 190 miles from home and waiting for the truck to be towed to the dealer. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? It has not. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Prior to Failure: Since I’ve owned the vehicle, I’ve notice slight ticking and slight knocking during cold start within the engine bay. At the time the noises seemed normal and not cause-for-concern. At Time of Failure: I was traveling on level grade on the highway when I heard a deep knock from the front, bottom left side of the engine bay. Within about a minute from the initial noise, I received a “check engine” warning light and a message of “ESC Warning” displayed on my instrument cluster. At that moment, I noticed the engine noise become more prevalent and constant. I immediately slowed and coasted to my next exit off the freeway.
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that immediately after leaving the dealer after the vehicle was purchased, the check engine warning light illuminated. Several days later, there was a loud knocking sound coming from the engine before the engine failed. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and an independent mechanic, but was not repaired. The vehicle had experienced catastrophic engine failure. The check engine warning light was displayed, and audible knocking was coming from the engine. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 153,000.
My truck started acting sluggish like the parking brake was applied while driving. At a traffic light I put the vehicle in park applied and released the parking brake. I put the vehicle back in gear an let off the brake. The vehicle did not move so slightly pressed the accelerator. The vehicle still acted as if the brakes were applied. I could feel the slight movement and torque being applied but only slightly lurching. The traffic light turned green so I proceeded up to 45mph. A vehicle in front of me slowed to make a turn. Applied the brakes and nothing happened. I pressed the brake so hard that I lifted myself off the seat. I swerved to miss the vehicle avoiding a collision. Then warnings started popping up; "brake system failure max speed 62mph", "brake system failure max speed 42mph", Brake system failure", service traction control", "service trailer baking system". among others I was too busy to see all of them. I coasted to a stop in a nearby parking lot with visual and audible warnings still going. I shut the vehicle off then restarted it. Some warnings remained like traction control and the engine light. The vehicle appeared to be operating correctly so I drove it to a local dealer. they said there was a code for low voltage in the brake control module but couldn't get me an appointment for over two weeks. I took the vehicle to a regular mechanic who said what I described was impossible. That mechanic kept my truck for the balance of the day but could find nothing wrong. I no longer trust this vehicles brake system. In many scenarios the failure, were it to happen again could be catastrophic.
Driving on highway truck lose power, engine lights start to flash and cracking noises start to come from engine. The lose of speed almos cause another vehicle to rear end me, Truck gave no signs or warnings before. Truck was delivered to a local shop and due abundant amount of metal flakes in oil engine need to be replaced
My 2020 Chevy Silverado needs a torque converter replacement. My truck is at 90k miles and out of drivetrain warranty. However, this is a known GM problem with trucks (and other vehicles in this class of engine/transmissions). I have talked to GM corporate and they are only willing to rebate 20% of the cost of this repair. I believe they should pay for the entire repair since this is a known problem for all these vehicles in this class. Please help me to get GM to understand this and fix this known problem.
Brakes would not release after driving a little ways the brake system failure warning came on. I stopped and killed engine and restarted but it lunged and I lost all braking. I pulled over to side of road and again killed engine a couple minutes I restarted it released. Then drove normal. ????
On Sunday Nov. 16th, my steering wheel felt like it was "slipping", akin to how it feels when your serpentine belt tensioner is failing. I checked it out while wife turned the wheel, didn't see any problem, and we went on our way. Later in the day as we were leaving a parking lot, the problem occurred again but worse. And we got a warning about trailer brake controller needs repair. After reviewing similar problems on Reddit, I found it was still safe to drive, so we drove home without further incident. Monday I decided to take it to O'Reilly auto parts and have a code scan done. Except, as soon as I turned out of the driveway, my wheel completely froze up solid. I could NOT move the wheel (q2)! Since the wheel was still turned, I backed it into the driveway and we took our car to buy our own code scanner. It showed more than just one fault code for the brakes, there were 5. I called Fox Chevrolet to schedule al appointment for the next day. Fortunately, the failure occurred as the Advisor attempted to turn the wheel (q3). Long story short: problem was a rusted/rotted out ground wire (q1)! Behind the front driver side tire, encased in a boot. Tech told the Advisor he'd never seen that one before. $40 part, and $400 to install it (q4). I was happy it wasn't a power steering rack failure (electric) but the more I thought about it, felt I needed to report this. You needed a dealer scanner to catch this and trace it to a ground fault. Probably better for you to contact dealer Advisor and Tech to get a better breakdown on this (q1). Dealer was great, they could have sold me an $1800 steering rack and I'd have never known. Could this failure have happened to someone driving on the street and this pop up all of a sudden (q2)? I believe so. Glad I didn't find out firsthand. The problem went away overnight twice, and then all of a sudden your wheel is LOCKED. I'm curious as to if others are or have faced this, thus my submittal. Thanks for your time.
While driving it said "service ESC", "brake system failure" and then "trailer brake system failure" "max speed 62." Brakes when pressed would not work. Had to cruise to stop. When truck shut down and restarted it said "max speed 43" and check engine light came on. Truck was then towed to mechanic and waiting to be looked at/worked on.
There was a brake system failure and the brakes stopped working while going 50 mph
Making turn at slow speed. Possibly Transmission slipping and rear tire locking up. engine light turned on
INTERMITTENTED,NOT ALL THE TIME BUT I GET A HESITATION WHEN I PUT THE TRAN IN DRIVE PRESS THE ACCERATOR THEN IT LURCH FORWARD UNEXPECTED......
Fan started running non stop, we overheated, engine cut out and says reduced power. This diesel engine has 80k miles which is nothing for a diesel.
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while his son-in-law was driving 61 MPH, the vehicle made an abnormal clanking sound and stalled. The driver pulled over safely. The OnStar Mobile App alerted the driver of an issue with the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was making an abnormal ticking sound prior to the failure. Upon arriving to the location of the vehicle, the contact noticed an oil leak underneath the vehicle. The contact stated that he was a certified mechanic, and the vehicle was towed to the contact's Auto Repair Shop, where the contact determined that the rod had gone through the engine block. The contact called an unknown local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Engine Failure 6 Nov 2025 Yes, engine is available for inspection. Possible loss power, unable to control the vehicle. Vehicle engine failure has been confirmed by dealership, Ruben Milton Chevrolet and Jim Hudson Cadillac in Augusta Georgia. Vehicle has not been inspection by manufacturer, police, insurance representatives. No warning light, no knocking noise, no messages on dashboard.
The transmission quite working while I was driving down the road. Took my foot off of the gas pedal and my truck bogged down completely and had no power to it. It is at an auto repair shop so I am unaware if it could be inspected under request. Took time but was able to safely get off the roadway and out of traffic. It did the out of no where. Started having some issues this summer but no warnings lights ever came on, so I didn’t think much about it. Completely stopped in the middle of the road and had little to no power from the transmission to the truck to move off of the road. My truck is currently in an auto repair shop waiting on a new transmission to be installed. I had it towed to an independent auto shop from where it stalled. There were not warning lamps or anything at the time of my transmission quitting. Truck started to run rough and shifting hard this summer but without warning lamps I didn’t take it anywhere. When running on the interstate it was shuttering which I thought was due to possible tire out of balance. It would also hesitate to take off when put into drive. It had several of the same issues that Chevy had on other transmissions that were recalled within this same time frame.
Back in 7/2025, I was going to a Dr appt in Chandler, Az. When I arrived in Maricopa, Az, my truck stalled at the first stop light and would not start. I went over Kraegan Auto parts and bought a battery. After about 10 days, I was having to jump start my truck for the next few days. I took the battery back and they realized that it wasn’t the battery my truck called for. So, now I have the correct battery and everything working like it supposed to. In Nov 2025, my battery was starting to drain like overnight, and jump starting my truck every morning. I also told them, that the transmission was acting up. When I got on the highway my truck would be at 5000 rpm while doing 60 mph. I be would have to pull over to side of the highway, shut the engine down, and restart. Usually it would be good after the first time. So, up until now, I have no heater, no AC, my windows don’t go up or down, cruise control don’t work, l can’t move my power seat, so my wife has to put a pillow behind her and a pillow beneath her when she drives our truck. And I be still haven’t mentioned all be the little icons that are lit on the steering column. My truck is at the Jerry Seiner Casa Grande, Az. I have the protection plus coverage on my truck with GA Security, and I was told that because it’s a battery issue and found me at fault, they won’t cover me and I need to pick up my truck, because I can’t afford a $680.00 price tag. I’m on Medicare. That’s why I paid the $3500 for the protection plus coverage. So I guess it’s my fault or fault of my battery, my transmission doesn’t shift gears, power windows don’t work, heater or AC don’t work, can’t forget the cruise control. They said they are not covering nothing, to come get my truck.
The vehicle experienced a transmission control malfunction related to a transmission solenoid (diagnostic code P0776). The transmission exhibited abnormal shifting behavior and drivability issues, prompting a warning indicator and dealer inspection. The condition affects the powertrain and could impair safe operation of the vehicle, particularly if shifting becomes unpredictable or the transmission enters a reduced-function mode while driving. The issue was confirmed by an authorized Chevrolet dealership, and the vehicle was subsequently deemed inoperable pending replacement of the required transmission solenoid component. The vehicle was inspected by General Motors on November 3, 2025, at which time GM confirmed that the required part was on national backorder with no immediate availability. The vehicle remains unavailable for use due solely to the lack of this GM-supplied component. A warning indicator and drivability symptoms were present prior to removal from service. The component is currently retained by the servicing dealer and is available for inspection upon request. General Motors has advised that this component is subject to a widespread national backorder affecting numerous vehicles, resulting in extended periods where affected vehicles cannot be repaired or safely returned to service.
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, there was an abnormal pop and ticking sound coming from under the hood. The check engine and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local independent dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failure in cylinder #7 and piston failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,600.
While driving on a residential side street my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (81,996 miles) suddenly lost power steering and braking with no waring. Several messages appeared in the dash and the check engine light illuminated. I was able get the vehicle safely to the shoulder and put in park without power steering or brakes. At this point the engine stalled and would not restart. The vehicle was towed to the nearest Chevy dealer on 10/29/2025. The technician verified the loss of power steering, brakes, and several other codes and diagnosed the issue as corroded engine grounding straps per GM bulletin #23-NA-201. The grounding straps were replaced and the codes cleared. The technician test drove the vehicle and verified normal operation after the repair. I was responsible for paying the full cost of these repairs as my vehicle was out of warranty. I feel incredibly fortunate that this happened on a residential side street with no traffic. Had this failure happened on the expressway while pulling my 4,000 lb trailer, this could have been a fatal accident if I suddenly lost power steering, brakes and had the engine stall like it did. I see multiple complaints for this issue on the NHTSA website and the GM TSB for this issue dates back to 2023. I am shocked that this is not a nationwide recall yet. It is a significant safety threat to the driver and others. I also know this is not an isolated incident, as my service advisor at the dealer suggested it was probably the grounding straps before the technician even inspected my vehicle. It was pretty clear from our conversation that I was not the first vehicle they had repaired with this issue.
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 71 MPH with cruise control engaged, the vehicle experienced braking and power steering failure. The Traction Control, Brake, Parking, Antilock Braking System, Electronic Fuel Control, and Check Engine warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the Brake Assist failure, Steering failure, and Trailer Brake failure messages were displayed. The contact shifted into neutral and coasted over to the side of the road. After turning off the vehicle for approximately an hour, the contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove 40 MPH back to the residence. The contact stated that after the failure, the vehicle had to be shifted into neutral, and then the parking brake was activated to come to a stop. The contact stated that a diagnostic test confirmed the steering and brake failures. The contact used a diagnostic tool to retrieve DTC: C0580. An appointment was scheduled with the dealer, but the vehicle was not yet diagnosed. The contact discovered information related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V116000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic), but the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000.
Driving at normal highway speeds, "service parking brake", "service engine", and "electronic stability control" lights illuminated on the dash with no prior warning. When attempting to accelerate, to maintain highway speed there was noticeable roughness to the engine along with a tapping sound. I slowed and made the trip back to my home under reduced power. The vehicle was towed to the dealer the following day per the dealer's service advisor instructions. Issue was diagnosed as a collapsed lifter, bent lifter rod and damaged cam lobe. Total repair cost exceeded $10,000. Internet search of this issue reports a number of drivers reporting similar issues with the Chevrolet 5.3 liter engine. If this issue had occurred in a more congested traffic area it could have caused an accident when my engine power was suddenly reduced without warning.
I have 2020 Chevy 1500 with L87 engines on it. We have the exact same issues that the 2021 1500 recall is having. Loses power, noisy engine when at start. Paradise Chevrolet in Temecula told me that they were going to replace the engine per GM but then GM only auth the repair. 8 barring kits, 8 rings 8 piston kits lot of bolts and gastkit and seals. Talked to GM every tho it’s the same engine they won’t replace it since not on recall. Don’t understand how the same engine in a car one year before the recall. I have all the paperwork video of the noise pictures of the Pistons. I failed from the dealer. Had to get the truck towed to the dealer cause the car wouldn’t turn on and all this happened with only 68,833 miles.
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle was shuddering with an abnormal sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure only occurred at speeds over 40 MPH. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission control valve had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V083000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Ever since I bought the truck I have had a issue with the transmission after it heats up an around 57mph the transmission is stuttering like crazy fluids an filters has been changed an no change on the transmission operation. After talking to many shops states that my year model a style of truck has terrible transmissions this is a safety issue that needs to be looked in to. I’m scared to put my kids in my truck because of this. I have notified the dealer the Monday after I got the truck.
The Engine began to make a knocking noise at ~62000 miles on the odometer. I assume it was bearing failure. MURREY CHEVROLET GMC diagnosed the problem as catastrophic engine failure with the repair being a replacement of the engine. There were no warning lamps. This is a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado High Country with the 6.2L engine.
Just recently my power steering started cutting in and out in parking lots. I have seen that there is a ongoing investigation into steering problems with these trucks. I have not took it to a shop, because it just started and has only done it in parking situations. There are no lights or warning codes on the dash. It was about two weeks ago that it started. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I just would not like to experience it failing on the road.
Lifter failure
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that once the vehicle had warmed up, while driving at speeds of 50 MPH or higher, the vehicle shuddered abnormally while depressing the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle became difficult to steer. There were no warning lights illuminated, or codes displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the torque converter and reaction carrier had failed. The transmission was scheduled to be replaced. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,200.
Front left cv axle is making a noise like a metal to metal noise. There was a recall on the 2019 for the same reason. Mine is a 2020. Same problem.
Transmission jerky or slipping
On September 27, 2025 while driving to my nieces soccer game my 2020 Silverado Traill Boss LT started losing power while driving. I was at a Red light when I felt the truck not properly responding to me pushing the gas pedal once it turned green. It slowly started accelerating and then with all the lights still illuminated on the dash, the truck completely stopped working with No response to the gas pedal. I had to let the truck coast forward while driving through an intersection. Thank God there was not that much traffic behind me and any cross traffic. I managed to pull the truck over stuck on the side of the road. My wife had to get a ride from a family member to reach the destination while I had to call a tow truck and have it towed home. Ironically, I believe the truck had just got out of Warranty, what a complete waste of thousands of dollars including the warranty that is always useless. I did not reach out to the dealership because I knew it was going to cost me an arm and a leg just for a diagnostic only for them not to find a problem. There was No Warning Light Flashing to notify me that my truck was taking a dump or any error code of any sort for a diagnostic to pinpoint the issue. I am surprised this has not turned into a Class Action Lawsuit (not yet anyways). My Father made me a Chevrolet person but with all the recent Engine/Powertrain problems with General Motors. I always believed the slogan "The longest lasting dependable trucks on the road". Tanks to YouTuber "@Donslife" for keeping the Public informed of all the latest updates with all these issues. This might be my last Chevrolet ever unless they could fix these issues and take some type of customer reimbursement/assurance/future or current incentives.
Engine idling rough shaking stalling loss of power
10 speed 10l80E transmission Whining noise from trans fluid pump gears and bearing known problem in the silverados pleease see link below [XXX] this involves taking the gearbox out and replacing the gears very expensive. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Transmission, would lock up for no apparent reason . At random speeds, they continue as if nothing was wrong. Took to dealership, couldn't get to it for a week. End up at a transmission shop said it through some code. required rebuilding the transmission . 88,000 miles on truck. From time of first incident to first shop visit one week. Same transmission in similar trucks is under recall but this vin# is not.
Several times my transmission has began to shift hard miss gears while hitting the brakes. Lose of power/hard shifts/ not shifting when it’s supposed to/jerking and or harsh shifting slipping delay in shifting slams into gear check engine light comes on after check engine light is on it continues until codes r deleted and or battery power is disconnected. This is a problem with codes like 0700/0716/0796 for the tranny control system sticking malfunctioning happens several times in the last year about every 3-4 months
After completing a GM assisted engine rebuild the transmission oil pump is failing and transmission shifting era tic.
Without warning (no warning lights or previous mechanical indications) the power steering failed making it extremely difficult to turn the steering wheel. Fortunately this happened while I was parking and not on the highway. The truck had approximately 48,000 miles on it at the time. (8/30/25) Repairs required replacing the rack and pinion steering and a heavily corroded "grounding strap". Repair cost was appx $3500
