The inner tailgate on my 21 Silverado is not functioning properly. The upper electronic button on the tailgate operates the inner tailgate and will release when opening the vehicle. It will continue to release by itself and can cause damage to the vehicle or to other vehicles while carrying a load.
Fuel pump module failure while driving causing vehicle to stop abruptly while driving at highway speeds.
While leaving work I started the truck like normal and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Saying service ESC, service power steering, and service brake system. The ESC light was on as well as the check engine light. There was no forewarning about this.
There is a current recall out there for the tailgates releasing on 20-24 Chevy Silverado 2500 and 3500. I own a 1500 and am having the same issue. Water is getting into the rear electronic switch and releasing the tailgate unbeknownst to me. I have lost items that were in the bed on the pickup on the road while traveling. Can the recall include the 1500 models also?
Vehicle began to lose power on the highway almost causing a collision due to the low speeds I had to travel. My vehicle was taken to a local Chevrolet Dealership and was told I had bad lifters and a bent rod. I was told this is a common issue with newer mold Chevrolet Silverado’s .
2021 Silverado 19,000 miles no indication of failure at a busy intersection about to go thru intersection and engines started knocking, multiple check engine lights on. Luckily got thru the intersection and to my place of residence which was very close by. Truck was towed to Chevy dealer. Dealer found 3 bent push rods, 3 bad valves. This engine had the lifters fail completely out of the blue. Oil changed at the dealer, meticulously maintained. Dealer only replaced the faulty bank of lifters due to mileage, seriously if it was under 16,000 they would replace all of them. This is unacceptable. This truck left me almost stranded in a busy intersection, lucky I knew well enough to keep going versus getting T-boned. I just think GM needs to do something about this. Now fast forward to 41K and I'm at the dealer same symptoms except this time my warranty is running up soon and being forced into an extended warranty. There are plenty of online claims, chat rooms, posts, etc to warrant this as a safety issue.
Push-button tailgate electrical failure. Tailgate opens on its own while driving and while truck is off. This is a known issue that has already been recalled by GM but my truck was not included in the recall, even though the problem and repair are exactly the same as the currently recalled vehicles. I had to pay a GM Dealership to make the repair as the vehicle was unsafe to drive due to potential for flying debris from the bed while driving.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while shifting into park(P), the vehicle failed to recognize that the vehicle was in park(P). The contact stated that the "Shift to Park" message was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact was forced to move the gear shifter back and forth between gears before the correct gear was recognized. The vehicle was initially taken to a dealer; however, the dealer failed to duplicate the failure. The failure persisted and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and it was discovered that the transmission control module had short circuited and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 41,000.

We’ve been stranded in traffic, unable to accelerate, and fearful for our safety. Despite repair after repair, the problem continues. At this point, I do not believe this truck can be fixed, and I am unwilling to keep driving it—or trade it in knowing another family could end up in the same dangerous situation. The tailgate on my 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 opens randomly. Initially, it was not often, but progressively happening. I had to pull over in rush hour traffic this morning to shut the tailgate after it opened randomly. The only reason I knew, was checking the rear camera.
Camshaft bearing failure. Catastrophic engine failure while accelerating at left turn. Required full engine replacement. Incident occured at 59,982 miles on odometer. Even though vehical was under manufacture warranty it took approx. 18 days for GM to assume responsability. I was required to produce all maintenance records and was left without a vehicle for this time. Company was not clear on what work and parts of this repair would be protected under further warranty. Company did not provide exact specifics on replacement engine year and place of origin.
Lifter failure of the right bank in 2021 at 19,000 miles. At the time of failure engine was 2.5 quarts low on oil. Ever since, this truck has been using oil excessively. I am currently involved with an oil consumption test. Of which over the last 5k miles I have had to have more oil added by the dealership.
The way I can best describe it is my vehicle falling apart, either due to cheap parts. Or poorly being put together. I was driving down the highway at about 65 miles an hour, when suddenly I hear something smack what seemed to be my headlight, then again snack into my drivers side mirror. I had not seen anything on the road previous to this or anything in the air so it seemed strange to have “hit” something. I was about an hour from my destination still so when I arrived I checked out my headlight. I then discovered I hadn’t hit anything, a piece of the fascia of my truck had blown off in the wind, which was the first sound I heard, then proceeded to impact my drivers side mirror. I’m not sure how long it was in the air or if it had impacted any vehicles on the highway behind me.

driving on [XXX] in Idaho stopped at rest area went to restroom came out my truck was smoking lifted the hood fire started on top left of engine got safely from truck and called 911 truck burnt to ground. Since i was stopped i was not in truck but if i did not stop it could of been fatal. My insurance has the truck now waiting on them for their investigation. there was no warning of any kind no dings going off no engine lights on since it burnt to the ground dont know if it can be determined what caused it but it would be nice to know why a 2021 chevy silverado with 43000 miles on it would just start on fire just had it serviced a week before this happed at a chevy dealer their is no recalls on my vin number writing this so maybe if this happens again that they will find the problem before some fatalitiy. Transmission sometimes does not change out correctly, when I show down it shifts really hard, and and now the rear wheels are locking up which increase the likelihood of an accident
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle, the transmission was shifted into reverse(R) and the contact became aware that the tailgate had opened while driving. The contact stated that he closed the tailgate however, the tailgate independently opened again. The contact drove the vehicle to a dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the tailgate electrical switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V060000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The contact contacted the manufacturer and was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.
While pulling a trailer down the highway the tailgate of my truck dropped all by itself causing considerable damage to the tailgate. If I had been carrying material in the bed of the truck it could have blown out and became a safety hazard for other motorists.
I took my car to the dealership four times because the engine light and the ESC light kept coming on. It kept saying there was a misfire so they changed the spark plugs and did a gas treatment after I left the dealership the light came back on so I returned the next day. They change one wire that’s what they told me. The problem was so I left engine light came back on. I returned the next day then they changed the wires I left the facility again. The next day I got them started the car, the same problem, engine light, and the ESC light and now they have the car in the shop and they need to break the engine down to see what’s causing the misfire and to find out if I need a new engine or not. Who is all that shit right now?
Transmission issues such as vibration/grinding, delayed shifting, rough shifting, clunking noises when changing gears, jerking sensations, vehicle is available for inspection. The transmission control valve may fail, causing the rear wheels to lock up. Transmission was inspected, Dealer claimed Torque converter issue and replaced that part, however, ISSUE still exists and Dealer claims that at the 2nd inspection, it was the tires giving me the rough shifting and vibration/griding I feel when driving. No warning messages, just continued vibration that turned into grinding at it continues to get worse. Issue started at 55K miles, truck currently has 60K miles, torque converter was replaced at 58K miles. The issues seems to be the same as the current GMC Diesel transmission recall. This recall SHOULD pertain the Gas Transmissions for the same year vehicles.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the valve lifters, resulting in damage to the camshaft. The vehicle was repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin Number: 19-NA-219. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 160,000.
Fuel regulator- high/low pressure failed. Yes the vehicle is available for inspection (currently at Rotolo Chevrolet). My safety and others were compromised because was on freeway approximately 75 mph and my power and speed was unexpectedly reduced. Almost caused pile up, I had to take evasive measures to guide truck to slow lane, and off the road. Yes, the problem has been confirmed [XXX] by certified Chevrolet technicians at Rotolo Chevrolet-Fontana California. Yes the part/vehicle has been inspected by Certified Chevrolet technician. A few odd hard engine starts(June/July figured a "cold" start). 2 weeks prior([XXX]) to the on road incident, the check engine light came on while driving, stopped vehicle to refuel- when the truck was restarted the check light was no longer illuminated. Scheduled ASAP service appointment 8/16/24 with Chevrolet, they couldn't take it sooner than 8/19/24 being that my truck is still under power train warranty. Unfortunately they say a faulty Fuel regulator is not covered. Document is initial service request order, I was called by Technician stating the specific (fuel regulator) issue and that my repair cost would be over $1,030.00. The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed as a failure with the engine wiring harness. The contact was informed that the engine wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 52,696.
Cylinder 5 misfire due to collapsed lifter and bent pushrod. 3rd time this has happened. Dealer replace half of engines lifters at 4K miles, the other half at 19K miles and now it’s occurred again even with all the lifters replaced in the engine.
The tailgate activates on its own, whether the truck is on or off, in motion or parked, the tailgate will activate and open at random times. There is no button that is pressed down, and no user error making this happen. When driving the vehicle, the tailgate will slam open and if you are pulling a trailer, the tailgate will slam into the trailer hitch and cause damage. Also, contents falling out of a truck bed is also a serious concern for other drivers. The truck was read for codes, and the code U0140 came up for the body control module that is malfunctioning. The truck has not been inspected by the manufacturer as of yet, but if need be, it can be arranged. The first time this error was noticed was in August 2024, and has been happening on & off since then. There were no dashboard lights on showing an issue was present when it first started and even now there are still no warning lights. Please consider issuing a recall, this is a major safety issue for other drivers.
While traveling on Interstate, the Check Engine light, Electric Parking Break service light, and Traction Control Light displayed for about 10 to 15 seconds. They all turned off at the same time and have not turned back on since. No limp mode was Vehicle has Service code for Engine Misfire with no cylinder indication. Spark Plugs, spark plug wires, and Coil Packs have been replaced. Vehicle has random flashing Check Engine Light for about 20 to 30 seconds while traveling above 30mph. Vehicle hesitation (jerking back and forth) is observed at continuous speed at 45mph and 51 mph. Vehicle has been brought to dealership for evaluation with no repair being completed. Dealership is not able to replicate issue.
While driving and slowing at an intersection, my vehicle would not accelerate. Only rev the engine causing my to come to a stop in the middle of an intersection. After getting to the side of the road and trou Le shooting for 5 minutes. The vehicle started driving again like nothing was wrong. I took it in to get checked out and tje dealership said my transmission was completely broken. At no time did a warning light come on or it feel like it was shifting hard. I researched and found many similar problems with this transmission.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH and passing another vehicle, the rear wheels inadvertently locked-up momentarily, causing the vehicle to momentarily shudder and to downshift to second gear while the RMPS revved significantly. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The dealer replaced the knock sensor; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the failure recurred while the vehicle was being test-driven; however, the dealer was unable to diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact later became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V097000(Power Train), which the contact related to the failure; however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Had vehicle in for service for oil change and a loud clicking noise as well as misfire was the vehicle was fine to drive proceeded on my trip on my way back to my hometown the motor through a pushrod while on the highway
When putting vehicle in PARK and releasing the foot brake it rolls back an excessive amount of space sometimes it rolls back so much we begin to get scared thinking we are still in DRIVE and jump back in vehicle just to learn we are in PARK. We have had this issue since the day of getting truck in August of 2024 and how much it rolls back is never consistent on the length of the roll back. Sometimes it feels like it make even slip out of gear and just keeping rolling. It’s very scary and we have almost knocked ourselves out when it happens trying to jump back in to stop it.
Transmission issues, rough shifting, hesitation and shuddering.
Transmission problems, when the truck would get to operating temperature the transmission would lurch when I would stop the truck. If I pulled up to a stop sign/light the transmission would lurch forward hard enough to make it feel like I got hit. If I didn't have my foot hard on the brake pedal it would move the truck far enough to hit another vehicle or pedestrian. After awhile the transmission started to slip out of gear as I was driving at highway speeds or not engage correctly during acceleration. I have now been without this truck for months while they try to replace the transmission.
Multiple times at varying speeds my 2021 Silverado has produced engine misfire codes. I have never been able to get to it quick enough to see what cylinders are misfiring so it always gives me a general P0300 code. The following first two times it was confirmed by Widrick truck and diesel in Carthage, NY. The last time it happened, the code disappeared before I would take it to the Chevy dealership. Widrick said they can’t fix the problem because they don’t know what it is, and Chevrolet denies there is a problem at all. The truck still has less than 50k miles on it
While accelerating moderately, the transmission downshifted and momentarily locked up the read axle. This caused the rear of the truck to start sliding out. There was a loud bang, and when I checked my outside mirrors, I saw smoke from the tires. I almost lost control in heavy highway traffic. The entire event lasted about a second or two. I am glad I was not pulling a trailer at this time. I reported this incident to my Chevy dealer and informed them of the existing service bulletin on this exact issue. 21-NA-275. The dealer has not followed up with me on their conclusion or what they will do about this dangerous defect. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms before this incident.
Heard and felt a loud clunk from underneath truck while driving 70 mph on interstate. Pulled off and next available exit with a hotel and parked truck. Cranked truck to move and it would not move forward or backward except for about a foot. Loud grinding noise. Had to call tow truck to tow us to nearest Chevrolet dealer. Dealer service department says transfer case has seized up and must be replaced. Transfer case is currently on backorder and not available from GM. Was given rental car to drive home, which is 10 hours away. Truck has been in shop for 7 days as for this writing and I still do not have an answer about when a transfer case will be available and they can repair my truck. I located transfer case at my local dealer but repair dealer says they have to wait on GM.
I was driving my 2021 Silverado when i was stopped at a 4 way waiting my turn. When it was my turn i made a left hand turn and and travelled a short distance going 20-25 mph when my engine made an odd sound and shut off in traffic!. I attempted to restart it and it did noting. Truck was towed to Hendricks Chevrolet where the truck was bought and received regular maintenance. When the truck stopped in traffic there were no warning lights on the dash before during or after. Once the truck was at the dealership for inspection i was advised That the motor was sized and that number 1 and 2 rod bearings failed and were ground in the crank journals. I asked how could that happen when the the truck has had regular oil changes by them and is there an issue with these engines? I was told that they see a few 6.2 engines with these types of issues.
- Warning came up that said to service power steering system. Steering wheel became extremely hard to turn. -I could barely complete my turn to get the vehicle clear of the road -Vehicle is scheduled to be seen by a dealer -No other parties have inspected the vehicle
Electric tailgate opener button switch on tailgate failed and allowed tailgate to open while traveling. Lost a tote containing tools onto the roadway when accelerating from an intersection. Luckily it was a rural road with no traffic and no one hit tool tote in the roadway. This seems to be a serious safety hazard especially if a motorcycle would of hit lost cargo in the roadway.
Tailgate will come open by its self
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the oil was lowering several quarts at a fast rate, and the oil was burning at a fast rate. After lowering down 3 quarts of oil by 3 weeks. At the same time, driving at approximately 25 - 30 MPH when they noticed black smoke coming from underneath the front passenger side of the hood between the window and windshield. The contact pulled to the side of the road where the fire was extinguished with a fire extinguisher. The fire department was not called. A police report was not filed. There were no injuries and no medical attention was needed. The vehicle was towed to their home. The dealer was contacted however they confirmed they were unable to inspect the vehicle for another 5 weeks. The contact had ordered and replaced the intake and the fuel return lines. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure opened a case for the failure and offered a buyback option however the contact decided not to take the offer. The failure mileage was 32,000.
The automatic transmission appears to be going out. Hard shifting occurs when speeding up or slowing down along with loud thuds and jerks. No warning lamps have come on, I will be taking it to a shop to have the transmission fixed.
When my truck is outside and gets rained on. The Tailgate automatically drops and keeps dropping over and over again. It’s been doing this for months. I have many safety concerns. I’ve had my tailgate open while driving. I had a young child standing behind my truck and it automatically opened. Recently over the period of the night it kept sending signals to drop annd lights would alol turn on until my truck battery was drained. I’ve looked up and saw other Silverados in my time frame with same problem with tailgate switch and have been recalled. This is 100 percent same thing going on with my truck. I have video but couldn’t upload below
Bulletin No.: 21-NA-275 Please refer to the posted bulletin. This known issue is absolutely dangerous and needs to be recalled. My truck will lock up going 50 to 60 mph to a complete stop and there's no warning. Gm needs to get all these vehicles fixed it's going to hurt someone or even worse. There's no warming lamps. I'm getting my vehicle into the shop as soon as possible. This issue again is very very dangerous.
Driving down the road and the vehicle shut off and said to restart. Wouldn't start back up. Check and found a 400 amp fuse was blown. Tested starter and was fine. Restarted the vehicle and it made a loud rattling noise and shut back off. Sent it to the dealer and they found that number 1 and 2 rods overheated and locked up the motor.
My check engine light came on. When taking it to the dealership, they say it's the Catalytic converter. The converter is not an electronic part, so we replaced the o2 sensors and the check engine light came back on. I've taken this truck to several people who repairs cars, and The vehicle is only 3 years old , should not need to be replaced. A converter should last 10-15 years. In doing some Research, I found the the 2019 recalled for the ECM module. Causing the same issue as the faulty reading on a catalytic converter. I am now out of warranty due to being 2,000 miles over the limit.
The power steering locked when driving, this happened last year. I had it serviced at the dealership and it was fixed but it’s reoccurring occasionally. Now when you turn it on you could hear a sound and it’s hard to turn. It’s a safety concern for me and for others to drive it with that condition. I brought it back to the dealership to have it serviced again, a mechanic inspected it and confirmed there’s a problem with the steering but they will have to do a proper diagnostic with the issue. There ‘s no warning message that pops out.
After starting the truck and placing in reverse the service power steering warning come on as well as service ESC. The steering wheel would not move. If I were driving at a higher speed a crash would be imminent. On the Chevy forums there are several other owners that experienced the same problem and the loss of steering happens randomly. After parking the truck and returning several hours later the warnings did not reappear. I called the Chevrolet dealership and they informed me that they cannot diagnose the vehicle if no service lights are actively showing. Then I called Chevrolet to report the issue and they informed me that there are no recalls and nothing can be done unless the warnings are active and to contact another service center. If the vehicle does this while i'm driving I most likely will be in a accident. The Chevrolet case # 9-12940772786
Transmission failed. Safety was put at risk for me and others, truck started jerking. The problem has been confirmed by a dealer and has been at a dealership since June 2024, it is now almost December 2024. They were waiting on a new transmission to come in due to these transmissions were put on back order. There were no warning lamps or messages on dash. The truck just started jerking while driving and it was very unsafe to drive. We had to have truck towed to dealership.
