Periodically at low speeds my transmission will hard shift. This causes my vehicle to lurch forward. This has happened several times to me. I have taken it to my Chevrolet dealership and have been told that this is a known problem but nothing they the dealership can do about it! I can only speculate but they are waiting for GM to make a decision on what must be done. I believe the transmission is mechanically faulty.
I'm frequently seeing a "Service Power Steering. Drive with Care" message on my dashboard. This has happened multiple times (e.g., 6-8 times) on single 20-mile drive during heavy downpour . I had the issue checked immediately by the dealer. While they couldn't replicate the exact scenario (they only saw the message once), they did apply a pending software update. Unfortunately, the message reappeared after a few days and continues to come and go sporadically. Several other vehicle owners have also reported this message online, but there seems to be no clear explanation yet. Interestingly, I've noticed the message seems to correlate more frequently with using the 120V outlet for powering accessories. Given this "programmed message" likely triggers based on specific scenarios, there must be identifiable conditions causing it. The message appears at various speeds (city/highway) and during both straight driving and turns. I'm sharing this information to raise awareness and encourage others experiencing this issue to contact their dealership. By reporting similar situations, we can hopefully push for a proper diagnosis and solution.
The engine started to shake violently while traveling down the interstate, my speeds reduced against my will. My safety and the safety of others was jeopardized while I'm traveling down an interstate with a minimum speed of 70 mph and my truck speed reduced to 35 mph or less. After an inspection from the dealership, I assumed the responsibility of having the engine rebuilt that cost me thousands of dollars. As the vehicle started to reduce speed is when the onstar alert went off. After having my vehicle for 10 ten days I receive it in worst condition that I gave it to them. Approximately 2 weeks later, the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership which they diagnosed it as needing the throttle body replaced. I allowed the dealership to fix that issue. Upon them returning the vehicle to me, I now have an electrical issue. The dealership stated that they may have crossed wires. The windows would roll down once I locked the vehicle, the door would constantly unlocked while I'm driving and the radio would shut down and restart while driving. The dealership was unable to find the problem so they decided to turn off everything so these I would not have these issues. Now I can smell something burning from time to time while I'm driving.
When cold it hard shift when move forward and also to next gear. It hard shift between first and second each time i stop for the next 10 to 20 mile this is everyday thing for the last 5 month
The dashboard fails and stops working, the shift to park wont engage and the key is not working to start the car. I have reported it to the dealer and to GM and they refuse to acknowledge the issue. The Feldman service person says it will eventually be a recall and will not help until then. They wont even let me pay to have it fixed they wont acknowledge it at all.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine compartment. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and referred the contact to a dealer. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who performed a road test but had not diagnosed the vehicle. The dealer informed the contact that the VIN was under recall for the engine; however, the sound coming from the engine was normal. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 24,414. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Engine started misfiring at 33,000 miles, dealer replaced fuel injector still happening. Now they are breaking down the engine to check the cam shaft, I guess I will see my truck in 2 - 3 weeks. Front collision warning not working properly for the second time within a year. Dealer says they are replacing the camera.
The contact owned a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 MPH, an abnormal, burning plastic odor began to emit from the vehicle coming to a complete stop. As the contact made a left turn, the contact's passenger noticed flames coming from underneath the hood of the engine. The contact and the passenger both immediately exited the vehicle upon pulling off to the shoulder of the road. The contact stated that they were unaware if any warning lights had appeared on the instrument panel during the failure. The contact lifted the hood and saw that flames had engulfed the entire passenger side of the engine bay. Authorities were called to the scene and the fire department extinguished the fire. Both a police report and a fire report were filed. No injuries were reported during the fire incident. The vehicle was initially towed to an independent mechanic but was later towed to an undisclosed location by the contact's insurance company. Both the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure but neither offered the contact any assistance. The vehicle was destroyed as a result of the fire. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000.
Brake failure warning notification and brakes went soft without warning. Almost rear ended vehicle in front of me.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the lifters had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. The VIN was not available.
My 2022 Chevrolet 1500 Trail boss (L87 V8) with 65,135 was making a clicking noise. I proceeded to make a service appointment with my local Chevrolet dealership on 05/03/2024. As I showed up for my scheduled appointment, I was turned away by the dealership due to lack of staff. I was told by my service advisor that my truck should be fine to drive for a few days till my rescheduled appointment on [XXX]. On my way to the dealership for the newly rescheduled appointment, my truck engine shut off unexpectedly and without any visual indication of engine problems. I had to call a tow company to take my truck to the dealership. Per the dealership's review, I was told over the phone that my engine had "locked up" and I would have to replace the entire engine. I was a couple thousand miles outside of warranty... the dealership told me there was nothing they could do to assist me with the cost of the new engine. This morning on social media, I saw that NHTSA is doing an investigation of the horrible experience I went through. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Engine seized up while traveling on the interstate at about 80 mph in traffic and rainy weather. Vehicle was able to coast to the side of the roadway. No warnings or lights. Gauges were normal. It just shut off out of nowhere. Vehicle never got past 20% warning for oil changes and proper oil was always used.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back in again and the local dealer diagnosed a failure related to the radiator. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.
Known exhaust leak issues from under the truck as well as under the hood allowing raw exhaust to enter the cab. CO levels increase to a unsafe level while leak is present. Dealer who looked at the issues states the exhaust leak is "normal". Worried about CO poisoning causing drowsiness and potential accidents being blamed on driving tired where reality is this is a byproduct of CO exposure.
While driving, my Bose radio system went to full volume and would not respond. I tried to turn the radio off but the power button would not work. I tried to turn the volume down using both the volume knob and the volume controls on the steering wheel with negative results. If I turned the volume knob fast enough, I could get the volume to turn down, but I had to continually keep turning the knob counter-clockwise else the volume would return to full volume. I was able to pull off the road and I turned the truck off. I turned the truck back on but the volume was still at full volume. I let the truck sit around 10 minutes and was able to drive it again with normal volume. I called my dealer, Bob Jass Chevrolet in Elburn IL to report the incident. Erin said to bring the truck in to have it reprogrammed. This happened once before - summer 2023. Bob Jass Chevrolet reprogrammed it on [XXX]. Other owners have reported having this issue in the Silverado Truck forums. When this happens it is a major distraction, and it will result in someone crashing because of it. Component: Bose sound system. It is available for inspection with proper notice Safety at risk: The volume goes to full volume instantly without warning and can't be turned down. The truck must rest approximately 10 minutes to return to normal. Problem reproduced: When I reported this to the dealer in June 2023 Erin advised this has happened to other owners and she wasn't surprised. Component inspected: Bob Jass Chevrolet service department has reprogrammed the Bose sound system once before but the problem happened again on [XXX]. Warnings: No warnings - the volume jumps to full volume instantly without warning. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Several times since I bought this truck new, the front turn signals fail. The blinker starts blinking very fast and if flashes a message to check the front turn signal. This has happened with both sides. Took it to the dealer 2x with a video of the dash and they say they cannot reproduce the problem. The internet is full of people with the same problems.
While towing a camping trailer, the brakes for the trailer kept issuing a warning saying "connected" then "not connected - check trailer brake wiring". Then "trailer brake not connected". After a while the brake system stopped working entirely. The 30 amp fuse that controls the trailer braking system blows out. This fuse is not a common fuse and not available at some auto parts stores (not really convenient while towing away from home). Evidently there is a problem with the brake control module that is factory installed. The module does not like the charging system on the trailer battery. I have spent hundreds of dollars and many hours in different shops trying to trace down this problem. It is very unsafe to have the trailer brakes not work while driving. This faulty module needs to be recalled. Part # 23306694
The tailgate has become disengaged on 3 or 4 separate occurrences. I see there is a problem and a recall for 2020-24 vehicles although our vehicle is not in the recall. The problem I am having is the same as the recall. I am looking for some assistance because my issue is the same as the recall and my warrantee is about to expire. The recall covers certain 2020-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles that have power unlatching tailgates. The problem occurs if water has leaked into the tailgate's electronic gate-release switch. The electronic switch may short circuit, resulting in the tailgate unlatching.
My GM 6.2L L87 Engine failed at 65,000 miles. Left me stranded at an intersection blocking traffic. Traffic safety and state police had to come direct traffic while I was waiting for a tow. Two seperate dealers quoted me over $15,000 to replace the engine with 1/2 the cost covered by GM. This was too expensive for me, so I ended up trading the vehicle in and taking the negative equity hit on a new vehicle loan. I seen there was an investigation opening on GM 6.2L L87 engine failures and I wanted to share my experience. This also happened to more people I know, including my own father with his 2022 Cadillac Escalade
While attempting to merge onto the freeway from the "on ramp," the acceleration began to dissipate. I noticed the truck had shifted itself into neutral. I then had to put my emergency lights on and coast as long as I could. There was not a check engine light. The vehicle also would not restart. It was then towed to a Chevrolet dealership and the recommendation was to replace the engine. They had notified me that this was a common issue with this engine and they see this all the time. There were four trucks ahead of me at this dealership alone. The story was the same and neighboring dealerships. At the time, they were not able to estimate the time for repair to be complete. This was a safety risk since there were cars behind me and the vehicle lost power. This could have resulted in an accident and caused injury to myself or others. There is also risk being stranded on the shoulder of a major freeway awaiting a tow truck.
Driving on busy road and the engine cut off completely without warning on a busy Highway. The first time it happened vehicle could be restarted and get to dealership and no code and unable to figure out the cause. Second time driving again on a busy road and happened on a curve and it shut down and would not restart and then had to wait for a tow and call for police to help due to busy traffic area as well. Engine has to be completely replaced. Vehicle only has 24000 miles and is 2022. Now I’m told it needs new engine and it has been 4 weeks and backordered…how has this not been a safety issue already and a concern prior? GM should be doing more. I’m concerned to get this truck back and have the same problem again.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, and while the vehicle was parked, the tailgate opened unintendedly. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that he was able to monitor the tailgate through the rearview camera. The contact stated that he could only close the tailgate manually when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 36,500.
I was driving on [XXX] where the speed limit varies from 65-75 MPH. I hit 70mph and randomly the truck jolted and dropped down to 40mph without warning. Cars swerved to avoid hitting me and I was shaken. I called the dealership who said there are no recalls and nothing to worry about, but call if it happens again. Two days later I was driving up to Pa from TN. 7 hours away from home and also on [XXX] and the truck did it again 3 times in a row. The truck was bouncing all over the highway and people trying their best to avoid me. I managed to get off but did hit and go over something when I was getting off the highway. I took the back streets and found a dealer. The transmission needs to be replaced the think, on a 2 year old truck with 50k miles. Apparently factory caused electrical issues. This truck has been an electrical nightmare since we purchased it. They need to issue a recall with all the transmission and engine issues that Chevy is experiencing. When my windshield wipers and headlights have been on for an extended period of time, they tend to cut out. My lights will flicker one time and my windshield wipers freeze for a brief second. Also my vehicle has around 36,000mi and recently a “monitor brake pads” has popped up. I have looked at my brakes and they have plenty of life left. I am not sure what to do. My truck should not be “glitching” and having electrical problems, especially with the amount of money it costs.
A wire box fell down from behind the dash, and landed behind the brake pedal. This created a severe emergency situation in that the brake pedal could not be depressed at a traffic light, almost causing a car accident. The dealership explained that they have seen this problem before, but it's not a current recall, but should be. I've also been in contact with GM Customer Care [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
In March of 2024 my 2022 Silverado with the 6.2L V8 suffered a catastrophic main crankshaft bearing failure resulting in the vehicle losing power on a local highway. I was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road where it would not restart. GM replaced the engine under warranty. 8 months later (november of 2024) the same vehicle suffered a subsequent engine failure with similar symptoms but I haven't yet recieved the exact cause.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the rear wheels locked up, causing the vehicle to drive off the roadway. The vehicle was still running; however, when the contact attempted to shift into reverse(R) to get back onto the roadway, the message "Conditions not Correct for Shift" was displayed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and DTC: P2724 and P0700 were retrieved. The dealer determined that the valve body needed to be replaced. The dealer associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V083000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 76,642.
I started to hear a light tick/knocking sound during my daily 68 mile commute to work, 3/1/2024. When I would accelerate, the ticking would get louder. I noticed a bit of shaking at the same time of acceleration. I took it into the dealership on 3/2/2024 where they discovered metal shavings in my oil filter. They told me I needed an entire new engine at 51,000 miles. They replaced the engine under my existing power train warranty (which was valid until vehicle got to 60,000miles). I got my truck back on 4/19/2024, and was told I would NOT be given any additional warranty or guarantee for the engine and labor associated with the replacement. I asked if there was any additional warranty that would be given, and they said no. I have a high mile commute, and in this instance, my Power Train warranty was up just a few months after the replacement. My service advisor said if I had paid out of pocket, they would offer a 100,000 mile warranty. But since it was a warranty replacement, that I would only have the balance of whatever remained on my powertrain warranty. My concern is that this may happen again. I want to report my issue to be sure that every replacement is fully investigated and GM is held accountable. This is the first new vehicle I've purchased, the 5th vehicle I have owned in my lifetime and I have never needed a new engine. This is a fully loaded top of the line truck. It has every added feature.
On [XXX] I was traveling was in [XXX] and I got an alert that said engine oil too hot and the truck started to lose power and pulled over and had to be towed to my dealership. I found out a couple days that the engine was seized. The dealership was able to get a crate motor and replace a couple weeks later. With all the buzz I am nervous all Chevy did was put another potential bad engine in the truck. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Auto stop/start will shut the vehicle off when still in motion. If the vehicle is coming to a stop and is rolling the stop/start will activate and shut the truck off
The sound will increase to max volume and I am unable to lower the sound, this has happened numerous times while driving and has also happened while on major freeways. This is a very frightening event when I am driving by myself and even more when I am with my family. This has been reported to the dealer several times but it continues to happen. Today it happened in a parking lot so luckily I could stop, turn the vehicle off, open the door, and turn it back in. The problem persisted after shutting the truck off several times. I finally had to let my phone connect, open Apple Music, played a song and paused it so I could have no sound.
The back up camera shuts off in low light conditions. Camera shuts off and a triangle with a ! Will appear. The camera will continue to flash on and off
Started my truck and drove off. 10 seconds later all of the lights on instrument cluster came on and displayed steering assist reduced the. It said service brake assist. My brakes weee very spongy and hardly worked luckily I was only driving 20 mph and no one was in front of me. I had to disconnect battery and reconnect to fix the problem. What if I was on the highway doing 70 mph and had to hit my brakes suddenly. Someone or multiple people could have been injured. This truck has 13,000 miles on and it’s a year old. I have ready many reports online of this happening in earlier models. How can car manufactures get away with this ?
Engine stalled at highway speed 50mpr, disabled brakes, and steering. I coasted to a stop with absolutely no power. Engine would not restart for 2 minutes. No Engine lights or codes present but warning on dash read service trailer brake system disabled. I drifted to a stop with no brakes at all or power steering. We were not hauling any trailers and no trailer was connected. This was the scariest event I've ever experienced driving. Very unhappy when they're was no reason to stall. Gas tank was half full.
While I was driving down the interstate the audio went to maximum volume. This caused me to panic while driving 70 mph down a very busy interstate because the music was blasting very loudly. I was quickly trying to turn it down and would not work. The power and mute would not work. I had to grab my phone and switch over to Apple Music play a song and then pause it and just keep it paused the entire drive. This happened about 5-6 times in the past year. This is a very serious safety problem. It could easily cause a wreck from panic or dangerous to a newborn baby in the vehicle with speakers blaring as loud as it can possibly go. I have taken it to a dealership twice over it and was just told it’s an update. This is not something you should have to worry about for the life of a new vehicle or take in for an update every time this happens. Luckily nothing happened to me but could have ended very badly or for someone who gets startled easily and possibly damage your hearing.
I bought this truck with 0 miles and I purchase an extended warranty for $4000 DLS from the dealership to cover until 150000 miles and on January 2024 The transmission broke down I took in into the dealership for repairs and they have not been able to repaired and they keep giving me the round around every day is been 6 months that I been paying for a vehicle that I can’t drive and neither the dealership or the extended warranty company can fixed I need your help please thank you and gb
I drove the vehicle to work in the morning with everything operating fine. I was leaving for lunch 4 hrs later, started fine put it in drive and I absolutely had no power steering, I turned off the vehicle several times thinking something needed to be reset however no change. I went to leave work around 5:30pm and power steering worked fine again. I called the local dealership and explained there were no recalls or bulletins on this issue.
My engine had to be fully replaced @ 28k miles due a crankshaft bearing failing and sending metal shards through my engine. Stranded me on the side of the highway for three hours. Was able to get to the shoulder before it seized up.Also my entire wiring harness and ECU had to be replaced shortly after the engine.
While drive 70mph on the highway the service steering column lock message displayed and the steering column locked. The service traction control warning displayed and vehicle traction control system began malfunctioning and tires began locking up. Break system failure message displayed, vehicle lost power to functional breaking capability. Trailer breaks disabled warding displayed, service required. Service ECS message displayed. Control of vehicle was lost, was able to naturally decrease speed and no accidents occurred. During this time, all control of breaking system was lost and steering function was lost. There was minimal traffic and I was able to turn my hazards on. Vehicle came to a complete stop in the right lane of the highway which could have cause a fatal crash. Intermittent steering functionality resumed after vehicle stopped allowing my to drive 5 mph to the exit ramp to move to safety. During this time, break system was not operational and potentially could have continued to cause an accident.
Was driving and the power steering quit working and had to manually turn truck into destination I was going to. It gave me a message the the electronic system needed to be serviced. Took to dealership and they claimed there was nothing wrong with electronic steering system. The blamed it on an on off switch mounted on my dash for my fog lights.
I have personally been experiencing a terrible cold start in the mornings. I have a 8 speed transmission with the 2.7 L engine. There is a recall on other Silverado and sierras with a (broken reaction carrier ring). I am having issues like, not engaging into drive from park for 20 seconds, once engaging-it will have hard pauses and shifts, yesterday I turned left crossing traffic with my kids in the truck and it stalled before shifting into second. I have been having these issues since about 15k and they’re progressively getting worse. The dealership keeps telling me it’s a normal for an 8 speed transmission. When doing research gmc did a recall for exactly the issues I’m having, however it only included 96 vehicles sierra and silverados. Which is customer satisfaction program N212328090 8 speed reaction Carrier Failure. I would love to chat about it over the phone if more information is needed. I am very unsatisfied with Chevrolets resolution to saying it is normal. It is definitely not normal. The volume to the vehicles infotainment system was unexpectedly set by the system to the highest setting without my input while listening to XM radio. My attempts to lower the volume via the volume control knob and steering wheel volume adjustment would lower the volume slightly but the rate the system increased the volume was faster than I could lower it. My safety was put at risk because initially the loud volume shocked me and caused me to panic trying to lower the volume so I can hear my surroundings while attempting to drive in city traffic. My safety was also at risk because my watch alerted me to a volume level that causes permanent damage to my hearing. I have not reported this to the dealer or independent service yet. The vehicle has not been inspected. There were no other warning messages or symptoms to the problem prior to the failure. Today was the first incident.
I was driving at about 40 mph and went to brake and the brake pedal went to the floor with multiple lights appearing on the dash including a warning "brake system failure max speed 43 mph" as well as "service ESC". The brake light went on as well as the ABS light and the check engine light. Brakes were not fully functional and were like old manual brakes that you had to press hard on to slow down. I was fearful getting back to the house. Multiple warnings appeared on my Chevy app. Today I started to move in the driveway to clean up as I am taking to dealer tomorrow. All lights are off and the brakes now appear to work. The warnings are off of the app now (curious as to why for such a potentially lethal event) I have screenshots of the dash warnings but neglected to get a screenshot in the app. My fear is that the dealer will blow this off and the app shows all is good only to leave me drive this for them go out again. This is a signifivant safety issue for Chevy (and for my family)
Forward Collision System Unavailable and Front Camera Blocked Clean Windshield. This alert populates when the temperature is below 40 degrees. I have taken it to the dealership they ran there diagnostic and said it only needed an update. Problem is still happening I believe this is a manufacture problem. My windshield is not obstructed by anything. This is the only vehicle we have, and I feel my kids and I are at risk when I get these alerts on my dashboard. Problem first appeared back in October when temperatures started dropping in my city.
My Chevy Silverado was repaired by 3 different certified Chevy dealers about 10 times for a variety of issues. The last time I brought my truck to Bridgewater Chevy I was told I need an engine replacement. The certified dealers failed to identify the root cause to all the issues. All the symptoms point to engine fail eventually occurring
When driving the RADIO goes full volume, then after about 15sec ( and spilling your coffee all over the place) it turns down then the radio screen says restarting. Now 2 issues this is going to blow all of my speakers and no one will warranty it ( cause its not my fault it goes full ON) and the other issue is ... i'm driving at 5am and this thing goes full blast and when your drinking your coffee or anything and this sudden JOLTED IMPACT OF NOISE hits ya scared the crap out of you... this needs to be fixed... it happens like once a month.. very random... but it happens after the truck has sat for a work shift or in the morning but not always in that scenario

Vehicle transmission stopped. Was at an intersection light turned green hit gas pedal vehicle moved 6”. Pushed throttle to floor and vehicle was jerking back and forth. No warning lights ever came on dash. I ended up getting stuck in intersection for 4 light cycles. Throttle to floor entire time jerking forward 6” at a time. People blowing horns at me entire time while I was helpless in a extremly busy intersection. Luckily a dealership was right around corner and was able to limp it into lot. Dealer had no loaner cars. Told me to come back. Went to leave and truck would not back out of parking lot. Truck was at dealer for nearly 3 months. Missed out on camping trips do to lack of truck.
