TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V381000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
MY VEHICLE HAS AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE, LIKE MANY OF THE 07-08 MODELS. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO 2 DEALERSHIPS, AND THEY REQUEST THAT WE REPLACE THE CAM AND LIFTERS. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD BY 2 DIFFERENT CHEVROLET DEALERSHIPS THAT THIS IS A BAD DESIGN BY CHEVY, AND THEY SEE IT ALL THE TIME WITH THIS YEAR. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT EVEN SELL OUR VEHICLE ON THEIR LOT IF WE TRADED IT IN. I LIVE IN A SMALL TOWN, AND I KNOW 4 PEOPLE WHO HAD THIS SAME ISSUE, AND HAD TO BUY NEW VEHICLES BECAUSE CHEVY DID NOT OFFER A SOLUTION. THE REPAIRS COST APPROXIMATELY $5000. OUR ONLY OPTION IS TO TRADE IT IN OR PAY THE REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET. THIS IS A BAD DESIGN BY CHEVY, AND A SAFETY ISSUE. WE CANNOT DRIVE OUR VEHICLE AT THIS TIME. WHEN THE ISSUE BEGAN IN OCTOBER OF 2016 WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND IT STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN FOLEY ALABAMA, (SOUTHERN CHEVROLET) AND WERE TOLD BY THEM IT IS A BAD DESIGN, AND THEY HAVE SEEN MANY TRUCKS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THEY DIAGNOSED AND GAVE US THE OPTION OF REPLACING THE CAM AND LIFTERS FOR $5000. WE DID NOT DO THIS AT THE TIME, AND TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC WHO STATED HE HAD SEEN THIS ISSUE MULTIPLE TIMES HIMSELF. HE GAVE US A TEMPORARY FIX, AND WE DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME. WE TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD US THE EXACT SAME THING. *TR
CRACKED DASHBOARD SPECIALLY AROUND PASSENGER AIRBAG - SAFETY CONCERN
MY DASH STARTED CRACKING FOR NO REASON. I WENT OUT TODAY TO GET IN MY VEHICLE AND NOTICED A CRACK ALONG MY DASH THAT WASN'T THEIR YESTERDAY.
WE NEED THE TAKATA AIRBAG ISSUE FIXED FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR FAMILY.
APPARENTLY THERE WAS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN ISSUED FOR THIS TRUCK. THE SPECIAL WARRANTY WAS FOR 120,000 OR YEAR 2018. IN 2015 I DISPUTED THE ENGINE FAILURE AND ALSO THE OIL CONSUMPTION AND THE#7 CYLINDER. MY TRUCK WAS AT 170,000 MILES AND GM REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. ON AUGUST 20, 2016, MY TRUCK WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I RETURNED IT BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN, THIS REPAIR WAS PERFORMED LESS THAN A YEAR. I CALLED GM AGAIN AND THEY REFUSED TO MAKE THE DEALERSHIP WARRANTY THE REPAIR FROM LAST YEAR. GM KNOWS THAT THIS ENGINE IS FAULTY AND REFUSE TO RECALL THIS 5.3 ENGINE. NOW I HAVE TO PAY FOR A NEW ENGINE
"TAKATA INFLATORS" AND DASHBOARD CRACKS. I HAVE MULTIPLE CRACKS IN THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2008 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN WHICH GM IS FULLY AWARE OF, AND AVOIDS THE TOPIC WITH EVERY CALL PLACED WITH THE CHEVROLET CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER. NOW THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR THE AIRBAG INFLATORS TO RUPTURE ALONG WITH FRAGMENTED DASHBOARD PARTS IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE PRIMARY CRACK(S) ARE LOCATED RIGHT AT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LOCATION. I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH ABOUT THE SAFETY CONCERNS I HAVE AND THE LACK OF ATTENTION THAT GM HAS GIVEN REGARDING THE CRACKS AND NOW THE AIRBAGS.

I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE IN JULY 2016 FOR THE TAKATA AIRBAGS. AS OF TODAY THE INFORMATION STILL SAYS THAT A REPAIR IS NOT YET AVAILABLE. GIVEN THE AGE OF MY 2008 SUBURBAN IT IS DANGEROUS AND RIDICULOUS THAT A REPAIR IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE. GM MUST BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR RECALLS ON ALL POTENTIALLY AFFECTED VEHICLES AND REPAIRS MADE IN A TIMELY MANNER.
TAKATA RECALL I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL GM DEALER IN AUGUST OF 2016 AND WAS TOLD I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE TO MAKE THE REPAIRS. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FROM GM.

I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE SEVERAL DAYS AFTER HAVING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SLOW DOWN. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO BE CHECKED OUT AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEED A NEW ENGINE, THE TRUCK HAS A LOSS OF POWER DUE TO THE STABILIZING TRAK ISSUE. AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ONLINE THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WHICH NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY CHEVY.
MY DASH HAS CRACKED AND I BELIEVE THAT THIS MAY BE A SAFETY HAZARD IF THE AIRBAGS EVER DEPLOY. I DID ATTEMPT TO GLUE IT.

TAKATA RECALL: IN JULY OF 2016 I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CHEVROLET INDICATING THAT MY VEHICLE HAS A DEFECTIVE PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER, HALL CHEVROLET IN CHESAPEAKE, AND THEY TOLD ME THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS BUT WOULD CALL ME WHEN THE PARTS ARRIVED. I CALLED SEVERAL ADDITIONAL TIMES AND WAS TOLD THE PARTS HAD NOT ARRIVED, MORE THAN A YEAR LATER I HAVE HEARD NOTHING. THE GM RECALL IS 49152. MY VIN IS: [XXX]. WHAT CAN I DO? TAKATA RECALL--IT HAS NOW BEEN 6 MONTHS SINCE THIS RECALL CAMPAIGN STARTED. MY DEALER KEEPS TELLING ME THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE. I LIVE IN THE HIGH HEAT AND HUMIDITY AREA WHICH IS THE PRIMARY DANGER AREA PROMPTING THIS RECALL. MEANWHILE, I BECAUSE OF THE DANGER I CAN NOT USE THE PASSENGER SEAT OF MY VEHICLE. WHEN IS THIS PROBLEM GOING TO GET FIXED SO I CAN TRANSPORT LOVED ONES IN THIS VEHICLE? GET CHEVROLET, GM AND TAKATA MOVING ON THIS PROBLEM.

TAKATA RECALL IT HAS BEEN NEARLY TWO YEARS SINCE I RECEIVED THIS RECALL NOTICE. LOCAL GM DEALER AND GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CLAIM "NO PARTS AVAILABLE". THIS IS NOT WHAT I WOULD CALL "RESOLUTION WITHIN A TIMELY MANNER", I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF IT FITS WITH YOUR DEFINITION OF "RESOLUTION WITHING A TIMELY MANNER". ALTHOUGH IT MAY BE STRICTLY "SAFE TO DRIVE", IT IS NOT SAFE TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT IN, WHICH IS/WAS THE ENTIRE POINT OF HAVING AIR BAGS. IF UNABLE TO REPAIR THIS VEHICLE, THEY SHOULD PURCHASE IT.
TAKATA RECALL. GM ISSUED A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY CAR IN JULY 2016. THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO REMEDY THE RECALL AND CLAIM TO STILL BE WORKING ON A SOLUTION. THAT'S AN UNACCEPTABLE AND VERY DANGEROUS DELAY. IF GM CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO, THEY SHOULD GIVE AFFECTED DRIVERS THE OPTION OF USING A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL THEY DO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM GM IN JULY 2016 REGARDING DEFECTIVE TAKADA AIRBAGS IN MY VEHICLE. I LIVE IN GEORGIA (USA) AND MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN STORED OUTSIDE IN HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS FOR THE PAST TWELVE (12) YEARS. THE VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY ACHIEVES AN INTERIOR TEMPERATURE EXCEEDING 200 DEGREESFAHRENHEIT DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS OF JUNE, JULY AND AUGUST. I HAVE CALLED GM ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO OBTAIN INFORMATION REGARDING REPLACEMENT OF MY DEFECTIVE TAKATA AIRBAGS AND GM CONTINUES TO RESPOND THAT THEY ARE NOT PROVIDING ANY CORRECTIVE ACTION I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT, DUE TO THE EXPOSURE OF MY VEHICLE TO THE EXTREME HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS IN GEORGIA, THAT MY AIRBAGS COULD POTENTIALLY INJURE, KILL, OR RESULT IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT IF AN AIRBAG FAILURE OCCURS DUE TO THE DEGRADATION OF THE AIRBAGS DUE TO THE EXTREME HEAT AND HUMIDITY THAT OCCURS IN GEORGIA. I AM REQUESTING ASSISTANCE TO HAVE THE DEFECTIVE TAKATA AIRBAGS REPLACED IN MY 2008 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN.
IN 2008 IT WAS HARD FINDING A SUBURBAN AS A LOT OF DEALERSHIPS CLOSED ALREADY. SO I FOUND A DEALERSHIP IN GLENDALE CALIFORNIA. IT WAS FAR FROM WHERE I LIVED. WHEN I WAS OPENING THE SUNROOF IT STARTED GOING BACK AND FORTH. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. II HAD A LONG TRIP HOME AND I WAS HOPING THAT IT WOULD JUST RESOLVE ITSELF BUT IT NEVER DID. I HAVE TOLD CHEVROLET MANY TIMES ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND YOU WILL FIND MY RECORDS OF HOW MANY TIMES I HAD CALLED THEM TO RESOLVE MY PROBLEM BUT THEY NEVER EVER DID A THING ABOUT IT AND IT IS STILL HAPPENING TO THIS DAY. ALSO I HAD JUST NOTICED A FEW SHORT MONTHS AGO THAT I HAVE FINE LITTLE HAIR CRACKS SHOWING UP ALL OVER MY SUBURBAN. ON THE HOOD AND ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR. I WENT TO MARTIN CADILLAC IN WEST LOS ANGELES THAT SERVICES CHEVROLET SUBURBANS AND THEY HAD TOLD ME YOUR CAR WAS PROBABLY REPAINTED UN-BENOIST TO ME. I HAVE HAD OTHER CARS BEFORE THIS ONE THAT I HAVE NOW AND I HAVE NEVER EVER HAD THE FINE LINES OF THE PAINT CRACKING ALL OVER MY CAR AND I CONTACTED CHEVROLET ON THIS AS WELL AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME. I HAVE SEEN PAINT FADING AWAY ON CARS BUT NOT CRACKING AS MY SUBURBAN HAS ALL OVER THE CAR. IN THIS DAY AND AGE, WITH ALL THE SOPHISTICATED TECHNOLOGY AND THE WAY THINGS ARE DONE SO MUCH BETTER NOW THAN EVER BEFORE ON SOMETHINGS BUT NOT EVERYTHING AS I CAN SEE IT ON MY SUBURBAN. I CONTACTED CHEY ON THIS AS WELL AND THEY REFUSE TO GIVE ME ANY HELP ON THIS. I ALSO HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY BRAKES WHEN I GOT THE SUBURBAN. AS I CAME DOWN A STEEP HILL THE BRAKES STARTED TO CAUSE THE WHOLE CAR TO WOBBLE. I KNEW IT WAS THE BRAKES. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE FOR A MOMENT THE WOBBLING STOPPED THIS WAS WHEN I HAD MY CAR FOR A FEW SHORT MONTHS. MARTIN CADILLAC'S SERVICE MANAGER SAID THE PAINT CRACKING SHOULD NOT HAPPENING MAYBE GLENDALE CALIFORNIA REPAINTED THE CAR. CHEVROLET HAS REFUSED ALL 3 CLAIMS.
IT'S BEEN OVER 4 YEARS SINCE RECEIVING THIS RECALL FOR AIRBAGS THAT CAN KILL ME INSTEAD OF PROTECT ME IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE BUT IT'S BEING IGNORED UNTIL EVERYONE EITHER FORGETS OR MORE PEOPLE DIE. I CAN'T GET THE DEALERS TO DISABLE OR REMOVE THE AIRBAG SO WHY EVEN GIVE ME RECALL NOTICE? I NEED THIS FIXED SO I CAN DRIVE SAFELY OR SELL MY VEHICLE WITHOUT CONCERN OF OTHERS.
TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL: I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN MY AREA REGARDING THIS RECALL. I HAVE BEEN TOLD SEVERAL TIMES THAT THERE ARE NO PARTS OR RESOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE. JUST RECENTLY ON 11/29/17 I VISITED CLASSIC CHEVORLET IN SUGARLAND TEXAS AND INQUIRED ABOUT GETTING THE AIRBAG SERVICED. THE AIRBAG SERVICE LIGHT IN MY VEHICLE HAS CONSTANTLY STAYED ON FOR THE PAST THREE MONTHS. WHEN I GET IN TO MY VEHICLE THE AIRBAG SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON WHETHER IT IS IN MOTION OR PARKED. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR OVER A YEAR TO FIND OUT WHAT TAKATA WILL DO TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AND MY FAMILY EVERY TIME WE GET INTO MY CAR. SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIND THE REMEDY FOR THIS SOON BEFORE PEOPLE ARE SERIOUSLY HURT OR LOSE THEIR LIVES.

IN THE INTERVENING YEAR AND A HALF, GM HAS BEEN DRAGGING ITS FEET WHILE TAKATA HAS BECOME INSOLVENT AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF BANKRUPTCY REORGANIZATION AND I AM DRIVING MY FAMILY AROUND IN A POTENTIALLY UNSAFE CAR.
