UNSAFE TO DRIVE SPECIALLY DRIVING OVER 40 MILES
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A MOUNTAIN AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE BRAKE LINES FRACTURED. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DROVE THROUGH A STOP SIGN. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE INTO A PARKING LOT. THE DEALER (DEAN PATTERSON CHEVROLET, 101 PLEASANT VALLEY BLVD, ALTOONA, PA 16602, (814) 942-2222) WAS CONTACTED AND INDICATED THAT THERE WAS EXTENSIVE RUST AND CORROSION, AND THE BRAKE LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (MANASSAS CHEVROLET, 8000 SUDLEY RD, MANSSAS, VA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKE LINES COLLAPSED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AND A VOICE MESSAGE WAS LEFT, BUT THE CONTACT HAD NOT RECEIVED A CALL BACK. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000. MY BREAK LIGHTS WONT WORK , DEALER STATES ITS COMPUTER . I HAD THE TRUCK 3 YEARS. I HAD NO IDEA I HAD NO BREAK LIGHTS TILL I TOOK THE TRUCK FOR INSPECTION
THIS IS BECOMING A RECURRING AND REPRODUCIBLE PROBLEM. THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OCCURS WHILE SLOWING DOWN FOR A STOP SIGN AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE MOST RELIABLE WAY TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM IS AS FOLLOWS. BE DRIVING ABOUT 15 MILES PER HOUR, UP A SLIGHT SLOPE. MOVE YOUR FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND ON TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. DEPRESS THE BRAKE LIGHTLY. JUST AS THE VEHICLE STARTS TO SLOW DOWN YOU WILL FEEL THE ACCELERATION OF THE ENGINE AS IF THE VEHICLE IS ATTEMPTING TO MAINTAIN THE 15 MILE PER HOUR PREVIOUS SPEED. THIS UNEXPECTED RESPONSE WILL LAST ABOUT TWO SECONDS AND THEN RETURN TO NORMAL (IDLE) CONDITION. THIS SUDDEN AND UNEXPECTED BEHAVIOR IS VERY UNNERVING AND COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT IF THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE TO BE SLIPPERY. *TR
