AT 850 MILES STEERING WHEEL STARTS TO SHIMMY, HAS BEEN IN TO DEALER 3 OR 4 TIMES.DEALER COULD NOT FIND CAUSE. ONGOING PROBLEM WHICH GETS WORSE AT 70 MPH. *AK
THE PARKING BRAKE ON THE 2000 CHEVROLET TAHOE FAILED INSPECTION BECAUSE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED BY THREE SEPARATE MECHANICS ALL OF WHOM NOTIFIED ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG 2000 CHEVROLET TAHOES, SUBURBANS, & TRUCKS. I HAVE RARELY USED MY EMERGENCY BRAKE. THIS PROBLEM RUINED MY BRAKE DRUMS AND COST ME NEARLY $1000.00.*AK
MY WIFE AND I HAD BEEN TO DALLAS TEXAS VISITING FAMILY, AND WE WERE JUST SOUTH OF PARIS TEXAS RETURNING HOME WHEN THE TIRE FAILED. I HAD NO WARNING, ALTHOUGH I HAD NOTICED A HANDLING PROBLEM WHICH I HAD ATTRIBUTED TO THE ROAD. THE TIRE FAILED COMPLETELY. ALTHOUGH THE TREAD WAS STILL IN PLACE, THE ENTIRE OUTSIDE SIDE WALL OF THE TIRE WAS GONE. MY WIFE TOOK A PICTURE OF THE VEHICLE WHILE I WAS CHANGING THE TIRE, AND THE TIRE IS VERY EVIDENT. I CAN SUPPLY THE PICTURE (NEGATIVE), OR EMAIL A .JPEG FILE IF YOU WISH TO SEE WHAT THE TIRE LOOKED LIKE. I HAD STOPPED FOR GAS APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, AND DID NOT NOTICE THAT THE TIRE WAS LOW ON AIR. THE GAS TANK FILL IS RIGHT NEXT TO THE TIRE, AND I THINK I WOULD HAVE NOTICED IF THE TIRE WAS LOW. THE TIRE STORE IN PARIS TEXAS WHERE I BOUGHT A REPLACEMENT TIRE (SAME MAKE AND SIZE) DID NOT NOTICE ANY PUNCTURES OR FAILURE IN THE TREAD. THE TIRE DEALER WAS DISCOUNT WHEEL & TIRE, 3215 N.E. LEFT TIRE COMES COMPLETELY OFF THE RIM
REAR SEAT LATCH BROKE. DEALER STATED THERE WERE NO REPLACEMENT PARTS. *AK PARTS WERE FOUND AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND THE SEAT WAS FIXED. *YH
VEHICLE WAS SITTING OUTSIDE IN 102 DEGREE WEATHER AND CONSUMER'S WIFE WENT TO PUT SOME THINGS INTO THE VEHICLE AND GLASS WASN'T BROKEN. CAME BACK 5 MINUTES LATER, AND DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WINDOW WAS SCATTERED ALL OVER THE PLACE. WINDOWS WERE ROLLED DOWN ABOUT AN INCH. *AK *ML
STEERING BROKE LOOSE AND CAUSED LOSS OF CONTROL. WIFE WAS INJURED MINOR BUT CAUSED HUGE DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. THANKFUL MY KIDS WERE NOT WITH HER AND SHE IS O.K. *AK
MIRROR IS MOUNTED SO AS TO CAUSE A BLIND SPOT TO CROSS TRAFFIC COMING FROM ZERO TO NINETY DEGREES FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT. *AK
CONSUMER WAS HAVING ALIGNMENT PROBLEM. CONTACTED DEALER, AND THEY SAID NOTHING COULD BE DONE. AFTER TRYING THIRD DIFFERENT DEALER SHIPS PROBLEM WAS TAKEN CARE OFF. BUT, SOON AFTER CONSUMER LEFT DEALERSHIP, PROBLEM AROSE AGAIN. VEHICLE DRIFTED FROM SIDE TO SIDE. *AK
PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT TIGHTENS AND DOES NOT LOOSEN GETS TIGHTER AS YOU GO OVER BUMPS, YOU GET LOCKED INTO YOUR SEAT DOES NOT LOOSEN. *AK
2000 CHEVROLET TAHOE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION MECHANIC DETERMINED REAR BRAKE SHIELD WAS RUSTED ALL THE WAY OUT. *KB THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED A RECALL ON INTERNET, HOWEVER HE WAS TOLD HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *JB
CONSUMER'S LEFT FOOT IS INTERFERING WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DUE TO THE LOCATION AND DESIGN OF THE ELECTRICAL PANEL WHICH IS BOLTED TO THE RIGHT UNDERNEATH THE BRAKE PEDAL, NOT ALLOWING SIGNIFICANT LEG AND FOOT ROOM. *AK
CONSUMERS VEHICLE EXPERIENCED 2 TIRE FAILURES, FIRST A FLAT THEN A BLOWOUT ON THE HIGHWAY(FIRESTONE WILDERNESS TIRE). NLM
WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS DO NOT REMAIN IN CONTACT WITH THE WINDSHIELD TO ADEQUATELY CLEAR IT, THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THE PROBLEM IS TEMPERATURE RELATED BECAUSE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TAKEN TO THE DEALER IN THE WARM SHOP AND THE VEHICLE IS NOT MOVING THE WIPERS WORK FINE, POSSIBLE DESIGN FLAW. WHEN MAKING 1 OUT OF 50 TO 100 NORMAL BRAKE APPLICATIONS VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP. CONSUMER WILL PRESS HARDER WHICH WILL ACTIVATE ABS. CONSUMER HAS TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER 3 TIMES . DEALER REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER, BUT DEFECT HAS REOCCURRED . TSB HAD BEEN ISSUED WHICH STATED DEFECT WAS NORMAL.*AK THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED A DELAY IN BRAKE REACTION ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE PROBLEM OCCURS AT SPEEDS OF 25-35 MPH CAUSE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AT TIMES DUE TO INTERNAL FAILURE. *YH
THE BRAKE SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK APPROPRIATELY THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT PROPER STOPPING ABILITY WITH NOISE, THE CONSUMER HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN ON FOUR OCCASIONS AND THEY SAY THE SYSTEM IS RESPONDING AS DESIGNED, CONSUMER BELIEVES THE PROBLEMS IS EITHER WITH THE ABS SYSTEM OR THE MASTER CYLINDER. *MJS
INTERMITTENTLY WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER HAS INSPECTED VEHICLE, AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
THE BRAKES FAIL UNDER PANIC STOPS,. THE DEALER FOUND NOTHING WRONG, BUT THE CONSUMER STATES THAT THE BRAKES WERE STILL UNSAFE. *YH
WHILE DRIVING OVER A PERIOD OF TIME, AND WHEN MAKING A STOP , VEHICLE SLAMS INTO GEAR VERY HARSHLY. CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
FUEL TANK LEAKS. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND DEALER REPLACED FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY. HAD FUEL TANK REPLACED 4 TIMES,AND PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. PLEASE ADD VIN. *AK
THE PARKING BRAKE IS A MECHANICALLY OPERATED DRUM AND SHOE BRAKE INDEPENDENT OF THE HYDRAULIC CALIPER. THE DESIGN IS DEFECTIVE IN THAT THE SHOE ASSEMBLY IS HELD IN PLACE ONLY BY FRICTION OF THE ACTUATOR SURFACE AND A CLIP. UNDER VIBRATION, THE SHOE FALLS AND RIDES ON THE DRUM WEARING IN TO THE DRUM. ON MY VEHICLE, THE TOP OF THE SHOE BRAKE SURFACE WAS NOT WORN BUT THE BOTTOM WAS DOWN TO THE METAL AND THE DRUM HAD WORN 0.100 INTO THE RADIUS. AS A RESULT, THERE WAS NO PARKING BRAKE. THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT GM WAS WORKING FOR A FIX IN THE 2003 MODELS AND THAT THEY REPLACED MANY DRUMS AND SHOE ASSEMBLIES AT AN ESTIMATED COST TO THE OWNER (OR NEW VEHICLE WARRANTY) OF $1000. THE TOOLS PROVIDED TO CHANGE A FLAT TIRE DO NOT INCLUDE THE ALLYN WRENCH NECESSARY TO REMOVE THE HUBCAP COVER ON THE FACTORY INSTALLED TIRES AND WHEELS, WITHOUT THE WRENCH THE TIRE CANNOT BE CHANGED, ALSO THE OWNERS MANUAL THAT COMES WITH THE VEHICLE MAKES NO REFERENCE TO THE WRENCH BEING INCLUDED IN THE TOOL KIT PROVIDED WITH THE CAR AND ALSO MAKES NO REFERENCE TO THE EXISTENCE OF A HUBCAP COVER OR THAT IT HAS TO BE REMOVED IN ORDER TO CHANGE FLAT TIRES. THROTTLE CONSTANTLY STICKS CAUSES UNSAFE SURGING. DT
CONSUMER CALLED COMPLAINING ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION. CONSUMER ALSO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION BURNED OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACE. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND HAD STATED THAT IT WILL BE CHEAPER TO REPLACED IT THAN TO FIX IT . MR
CONSUMER STATES WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO USE FORCE ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO GAIN SPEED. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. TS
WHILE DRIVING THE GEAR SHIFT BECAME STUCK DUE TO SNOW AND THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO DOWN SHIFT . *NLM
THE TRUCK WAS EQUIPPED WITH FEDERAL EMISSIONS INSTEAD OF CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS. HE WAS INFORMED OF AN WRITTEN ANNOUNCEMENT /LETTER THAT WAS SENT TO SOME TAHOE OWNERS. THE TRUCK EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURES AS THE CONSUMER'S WHICH RECEIVED THE INFORMATION FOR "SEQUENTIAL FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM". THE MANUFACTURE ZONE REP AGREED TO FIX IT AT FIRST BUT IS NOW DENYING. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ALONG WITH MISFIRING OF THE INJECTORS. *JB
VEHICLE CONTINUED BLOW FUSES/ PROBLEMS WITH SIDE VIEW MIRRORS. *MR *TS
THE EMERGENCY BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. *NLM CONSUMER HAD THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE ADJUSTED TWICE. AFTER THE SECOND FAILURE, THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE COULDN'T BE ADJUSTED. THE DEALER GAVE HIM THE SPECS FROM GENERAL MOTORS STATING THAT HE COULDN'T PARK HIS TAHOE ON A HILL WITH OVER A THIRTY DEGREE ANGLE. THE CONSUMER HAD PURCHASE CHALK BLOCKS TO PLACE UNDER THE TIRES WHEN PARKED ON A HILL. THE CONSUMER WASN'T INFORMED OF THIS BEFORE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. *PH *JB
IT HAS BEEN NOTICED THAT OVER A COURSE OF TWO MONTHS AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ILLUMINATING ON THE DASHBOARD. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, AND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS THE IMPROPER CONNECTION OF THE SIDE AIR BAG PLUG. *AK
CONSUMER STATES WHEN EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS APPLIED BRAKE CABLE SNAPPED. CABLE WAS REPLACED, AND 28,000 MILES LATER. *AK *TS
THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SWITCH FOR THE REAR DOOR WHICH LIT UP THE PANEL TO INFORM THAT THE DOOR WAS AJAR. THE DOME LIGHT CAME ON, BUT WOULD NOT GO OFF. THE CONSUMER HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. *AK AT NIGHT, THE CONSUMER COULD NOT SEE, AND ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT. *SCC *JB
