TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS WORKING SPORADICALLY AND DISPLAYED INACCURATE READINGS. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2003-2004 MODELS; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE 2005 MODEL. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED DUE TO THE LABOR AND REPAIR COSTS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 60,000. UPDATED 01-29-08. *KB
THE MOLDING FOR THE HINGES ON THE REAR GLASS HATCH STARTING CRACKING. HINGES BROKE WHEN OPENING THE REAR HATCH GLASS FELL HALF WAY OUT ALMOST HITTING ME, DIDN'T BRAKE. MY BACK GLASS WILL NOT OPERATE PROPERLY AND IM HAVING TO COVER IT WITH A TARP SO RAIN DOESN'T GET INSIDE. NOTHING PERMANENT HAS BEEN DONE YET. *TR
SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER JUMPS AROUND THEN FAILS COMPLETELY I REPLACED THE CLUSTER IT HAS ALREADY BEEN RECALLED ON THE 2003 AND 2004 TAHOES I WAS JUST WONDERING WHAT THE PROCESS WAS FOR GETTING A RECALL DONE I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION YOU COULD GIVE ME THANK YOU THOMAS THORNBURGH. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2005 CHEVY TAHOE NO LONGER WORKS CORRECTLY. ON 9-21-07, I NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS RESTING AT 0, AS I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD. I HAD APPROXIMATELY 50,000 MILES ON MY TAHOE AT THAT TIME. SINCE THEN, THERE ARE DAYS THAT IT WORKS PROPERLY, DAYS THAT IT SITS AT 0, AND THEN THERE ARE DAYS THAT IT REGISTERS 30 MPH WHILE I AM DOING CLOSER TO 70 OR IT WILL REGISTER 90 MPH WHILE I AM ONLY DOING 60. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD REMAIN AT 50 MPH, EVEN IF SHE WAS NOT ACCELERATING. THE GAUGE NEVER DISPLAYED ZERO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD OCCASIONALLY DISPLAY 120 MPH. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION WAS MALFUNCTIONING AND WOULD SLIP INTO GEAR HARD. THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT THREE TIMES. EVEN AFTER THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPAIRED, THE SPEEDOMETER STILL MALFUNCTIONED. IT BECAME STUCK AT 120 MPH AND NEVER DECREASED. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V055000 (POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:SHIFT PATTERN INDICATOR). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE REPAIRED BECAUSE IT EXCEEDED 70,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION DUE TO A PENDING CLASS ACTION SUIT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,583.
MY 2005 CHEROLET TAHOE SPEEDOMETER IS NO LONGER WORKING. IT REGISTERS MUCH HIGHER THAN MY ACTUAL SPEED EVEN AT AN IDLE. *TR
INTERMITTENT 4WD INDICATOR LIGHT AND FAILURE TO ENGAGE. *TR
STEPPED ON GAS PEDAL AND IT STUCK CAUSING ACCELERATION. EVENTUALLY SLOWED DOWN. UPON INSPECTION BY MECHANIC, IT WAS FOUND THAT A SPRING ON GAS PEDAL HAD BECOME DISLODGED. ONE END OF THE SPRING IS STRAIGHT (LIKE A PIN) AND IT HAD STUCK INTO THE FLOOR CARPET, EVENTUALLY RELEASING ITSELF. THIS IS A FAULTY DESIGN AND VERY DANGEROUS. GM HAS BEEN NOTIFIED AND THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY CHEVROLET DEALER BUT THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS COULD GET SOMEONE KILLED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THE GAS PEDAL STUCK IN THE DOWN POSITION CAUSING CAR TO SPED UP. IT THEN SLOWED DOWN. UPON INSPECTION BY MECHANIC, IT WAS FOUND THAT A SPRING ON THE GAS PEDAL HAD BECOME DISLODGED. ONE END OF THE SPRING IS STRAIGHT (LIKE AN OPENED PAPER CLIP) THE STRAIGHT PART HAD STUCK INTO THE CARPET AND THEN SLOWLY EASED OUT. THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO RECREATE THE SITUATION. BECAUSE OF THIS, MY WIFE WAS ISSUED A SUMMONS WHICH IS STILL PENDING. E-MAILS TO GENERAL MOTORS HAVE GONE UNANSWERED. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER IS WAY OFF, WHEN SITTING STILL IT REGISTERS 60 MPH., ON THE HIGHWAY IT BOTTOMS OUT AT 120. *TR
OUR 2005 TAHOE HAS BEEN HAVING SPEEDOMETER PROBLEMS. IT SEEMS TO NOT DECREASE SPEED WHEN WE SLOW DOWN AND WHEN WE ACCELERATE THE SPEED JUST KEEPS GOING UP ON SPEEDOMETER UNTIL IT PEGS. WE HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE ARE RECALLS FOR SEVERAL EARLIER YEAR MODELS BUT NOT ON THE 2005 MODEL. IF WE GET IN AN ACCIDENT, POLICE COULD SAY WE ARE GOING FASTER THAN WE ARE AND OUR INSURANCE COMPANY COULD DENY THE CLAIM. ALSO A POSSIBILITY OF A SPEEDING TICKET NOT KNOWING HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE!!!!! THE SPEEDOMETER PROBLEM HAPPENS RANDOMLY. WE ONLY DRIVE THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 100 MILES A WEEK. SPEEDOMETER ACTS UP 2 TO 3 TIMES A WEEK. *TR
THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT IS AN LED TYPE AND IS INOPERABLE. I HAVE NOTICED THAT A NUMBER OF SAME STYLE CHEVY TAHOES HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE AT THIS POINT TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE RISING FROM THE DASHBOARD AREA AND BEHIND THE RADIO CONTROL AND AIR CONDITIONER. BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 33,400. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THERE WAS A DEFECT WITHIN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. UPDATED 08/28/07. *JB
AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY IN A CRASH. THE FRAME OF OUR 2005 CHEVROLET TAHOE WAS BUCKLED IN THE CRASH. CRASH TEST DATA WAS RETRIEVED FROM THE VEHICLE, ALTHOUGH GENERAL MOTORS DOES NOT FEEL THAT THEY ARE IN A POSITION TO HONOR OUR REQUEST FOR DAMAGES AGAINST THEM. MY HUSBAND AND I BOTH RECEIVED BACK AND NECK INJURIES DURING THE ACCIDENT. *TR
2005 CHEVROLET TAHOE Z71. UPON TURNING, COULD HEAR AND FEEL IN STEERING COLUMN A POPPING TYPE NOISE/FEEL. TOOK IT FOR SERVICE, AND IT WAS DETERMINED THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT WAS BROKE. PART REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
2005 CHEVROLET TAHOE 60,000 MILES. SPEEDOMETER ERRATIC FOR A FEW WEEKS AND NOW SHOWS ANYWHERE FROM 30-120 MPH SITTING STILL. TAKING IT TO DEALER TODAY. ON THE PHONE THEY QUOTED ME $450 TO REPLACE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. NO DEAL. ON ONE WEBSITE ALONE THERE WERE OVER 600 PAGES OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE!! CHEVROLET DOES NOT FIX THIS FREE OF CHARGE THEN THIS WILL BE MY LAST GM PRODUCT EVER.*AK
SPEEDOMETER IS OBVIOUSLY NOT DISPLAYING THE CORRECT SPEED. GOING AROUND 70 MPH DISPLAY READS 30 MPH, OTHER TIMES GOING 70 AND READOUT IS 110 MPH. INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH CLASS ACTION SUITS ALREADY FILED IN TWO STATES OR MORE.*AK
THE SERVICE TIRE MONITOR WARNING DISPLAYED FREQUENTLY AND REPORTSED THAT A TIRE PRESSURE READING WAS UNAVAILABLE. THIS HAPPENED SINCE DAY 1. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE, THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED, AND AN ATTEMPT TO CORRECT HAS BEEN PERFORMED. TWO YEARS LATER, AFTER AT LEAST 5 ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, IT STILL EXISTED. THISWAS A MAJOR ANNOYANCE AS EACH TIME THE MONITOR WARING DISPLAYED IT CAUSED YOU TO INSPECT THE TIRES , AND CHECK PRESSURES TO ENSURE PROPER INFLATION, ESPECIALLY SINCE TIRES WERE MADE BY FIRESTONE. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY WHEN STARTING HER VEHICLE. SHE BELIEVED THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A SHORTAGE AND OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED IN CERTAIN WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER BETWEEN 6-7 TIMES AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE SHORTAGE, BUT COULD NOT PINPOINT THE LOCATION. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 33,700 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TAHOE. OCCASIONALLY, THE CONTACT SMELLED A BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AS IF SOMEONE WAS SMOKING A CIGAR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BLOWER RESISTOR SHORTED AND MELTED THE CONNECTOR. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE BURNING OCCURRED EVEN WHEN THE SWITCH WAS DEACTIVATED. HE IS IN POSSESSION OF THE OLD PARTS. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,200 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AT ANY SPEED, THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYS THE INCORRECT MILEAGE. THE TACHOMETER ALSO FAILS TO DISPLAY THE CORRECT RPM'S. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
2005 TAHOE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT BEGAN TO RATTLE AT 20,000 MILES. DEALER REPAIR WAS TO "GREASE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT". THIS REMEDIED THE PROBLEM FOR ANOTHER 30,000 MILES. WHEN I SPOKE TO DEALER ABOUT PROBLEM (OUT OF WARRANTY) THEY EXPLAINED THAT IT "WASN'T A SAFETY PROBLEM, JUST IRRITATING RATTLE BECAUSE GREASE HAD WORKED ITS WAY OUT OF SHAFT AGAIN." THE FIX? REPLACE SHAFT WITH NEW COMPOSITE SHAFT. COST: $240.00. THEN I WAS INFORMED THAT GM KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL YEARS (EVEN BEFORE PREVIOUS REPAIR) BUT DID NOT REPLACE THE SHAFT UNDER WARRANTY, SIMPLY APPLIED NEW GREASE TO DEFECTIVE SHAFT. GM WAITS UNTIL WARRANTY EXPIRES TO ADVISE YOU TO REPLACE SHAFT-AT YOUR EXPENSE. I HOPE THIS PROBLEM IS FIXED NOW, BUT SHAME ON GM FOR THIS MANNER OF BUSINESS. AND GM CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY CONSUMERS DON'T RETURN TO THEM? *TR
1. DRIVING DURING A MINOR SNOWSTORM THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON MY 2005 CHEVROLET TAHOE FAILED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. 2. I COULD NOT SEE CLEARLY AND HAD EXTREME DIFFICULTY NAVIGATING THE ROADWAY. 3. AS THE VEHICLE WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AT A LOCAL DEALER. THAT DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE WIPER TRANSMISSION WAS BAD, THOUGH THIS WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I PURCHASED A NEW WIPER TRANSMISSION AND HAD IT INSTALLED BY MY LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE LINKAGES ARE MADE OF PLASTIC AND DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER, SUCH AS SNOW, MIGHT CAUSE FAILURE. I FEEL THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION, WHEREBY WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE SUPPOSED TO OPERATE IN INCLEMENT WEATHER, AND IF THE UNDERLYING COMPONENTS ARE OF INFERIOR QUALITY, IT SHOULD BE REPLACED BY NON-PROBLEMATIC MATERIALS. THE SERVICING DEALER CLAIMS THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO MY NOT CLEANING THE AREA SURROUNDING THE WIPER ARMS. BUT THIS IS NOT CORRECT, AS I DID CLEAN THIS AREA. I SHOULD BE ABLE TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE DURING A STORM WITHOUT HAVING TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY TO MANUALLY CLEAN THE WIPERS AND SURROUNDING AREAS. IF THE LINKAGES ARE UNABLE TO HANDLE SNOW AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THEN THEY MUST BE UPGRADED. *JB
ABNORMAL NOISE OF RATTLING, CRACKLING, AND CLUCKING IN STEERING COLUMN WHEN MAKING LEFT TURN OR SLIGHTLY TURNING STEERING WHEEL TO LEFT ALSO DRIVING VEHICLE AT 15 MPH OR HIGHER SPEED KNOCKING NOISE CONSISTENT IN STEERING COLUMN. MY VEHICLE WAS SERVICED TWICE AT MILEAGE 24,757, AND IN 2007 MILEAGE 41,309 BY THE DEALER AND REPAIRED WITH NEW LUBRICATION KIT WAS INSTALLED INTO THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT AT NO COST TO ME DUE TO WARRANTY COVERAGE. HOWEVER, MY 2005 TAHOE HAS HAD THE CONTINUING PROBLEM THROUGHOUT MY SOLE OWNERSHIP. CURRENT MILEAGE IS AT 116,000, ON GOING DEFECTS AS SUCH IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT, I WILL HAVE TO REPAIR AGAIN WITH OUT OF POCKET COST AVERAGE FROM $125.00 TO $300.00.
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH THERE WAS A CLUNKING NOISE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED COMPLETELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHERE THE ON-BOARD COMPUTER WAS REPLACED.*AK UPDATED 9/11/2006 - WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING FUNCTION WAS LOST. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. *NM
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVROLET TAHOE WITH A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING SHAFT. IT WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY ON 03/01/06 WITH 20,385 MILES AT OUR LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERS REMEDY WAS : "E7700 SHAFT, STEERING INTERMEDIATE REPLACE". THE REMEDY LASTED ONLY ABOUT TWO YEARS BEFORE THE BANGING NOISE WHEN TURNING RETURNED. IT NOW IS ACCOMPANIES WITH A LOOSE SOUNDING BANGING NOISE WHEN ON BUMPY ROADS. THE PROBLEM HAS INCREASED IN SEVERITY OVER TIME. I HAVE A 2003 CHEVROLET PICKUP, AND AM EXPERIENCING A SIMILAR SITUATION, ALTHOUGH NOT AS SEVERE AS WITH MY TAHOE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A PERSISTENT PROBLEM WITH GM, AND POSES A SAFETY ISSUE AS OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE DESCRIBED STEERING LOCKDOWN ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING AT 45,000 MILES. *TR
DT*: THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM BEGAN AS A CRACKING SOUND WHILE TURNING THE WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AN ADJUSTMENT TO THE CONTROL ARM WAS MADE. ONE MONTH LATER, THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED. ON DECEMBER 29, 2005 THE CRACKING SOUND WAS HEARD AGAIN, THE VEHICLE STOPPED AND THE THROTTLE WOULD NOT DEPRESS. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GAIN MOMENTUM IN EITHER OF THE GEARS. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE FAILURE WAS WITH THE DIFFERENTIAL UNIT, THEY NOTICED EITHER THE DRIVE TRAIN OR THE AXLE WAS DAMAGED. A HEAVY DUTY REMOVAL UNIT WAS USED TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL UNIT. THE VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY AND ON JANUARY 12, 2006 THE CRACKING NOISE WAS HEARD AGAIN. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TAHOE. OVER THE YEARS, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURES, INCLUDING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING MALFUNCTIONING. THE FAILURE MADE IT DIFFICULT TO VIEW THE GAUGE INFORMATION. IN ADDITION, THE TURN SIGNALS WOULD ONLY OPERATE WHEN THE FOG LIGHTS WERE ACTIVATED, AND THE REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GILCREST CHEVROLET (6030 S. TACOMA WAY, TACOMA, WA) WHERE THE REAR WINDOW MOTOR AND INSTRUMENT PANEL WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES EVENTUALLY RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000. *BF. CONSUMER STATED DASH LIGHT REPLACE MULTI WINDSHIELD WIPER AND REPLACED PASSENGER SEAT HEATER.*JB
MY COMPLAINT IS A STEADY VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE MY 2005 TAHOE IS IDLING IN TRAFFIC, CAR IN GEAR, BASICALLY CRAWLING ALONG IN TRAFFIC. ALTHOUGH VIBRATION NEVER GETS TO THE POINT OF SEEING THE STEERING WHEEL PHYSICALLY SHAKE, THE VIBRATION GETS STRONGER AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RUNNING (GETS HOTTER). VIBRATION CREATES A SENSATION SIMILAR TO A LOW ELECTRICAL CURRENT RUNNING UP YOUR ARM. AFTER SITTING IN TRAFFIC FOR 30 TO 40 MINUTES, YOUR FINGERTIPS BECOME ALMOST NUMB. VEHICLE HAS BEE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM AND HAS BEEN REPORTED DIRECTLY TO GM. GM'S RESPONSE IS THAT THE VIBRATION IS CAUSED BY AN ELECTRICAL FAN RUNNING AFTER THE VEHICLE GETS HEATED AND CAN NOT BE RESOLVED. *JB
WHILE DRIVING A ROCK PENETRATED THE TREAD AND CASING OF THE TIRE CAUSING IT TO GO FLAT. *** NO ANSWER REQUIRED*** *TS UPDATED 11/7/2005 - THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WITH AN OFF-ROAD PACKAGE WHICH INCLUDED GOODYEAR P265/70R25 M&S ON-OFF ROAD TIRES. THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ON AN UNPAVED ROAD WHEN A ROCK PENETRATED THE TREAD AND CASING OF THE TIRE CAUSING IT TO GO FLAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A GOODYEAR DEALER AND THE TIRE WAS REPLACED (5300 MILES). THE TIRE TECH STATED THAT HE HAS REPLACED MANY OF THESE TIRES. A LITTLE OVER A WEEK LATER THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ON THE SAME UNPAVED ROAD WHEN A SECOND TIRE WAS PENETRATED BY A ROCK AND WENT FLAT (6492 MILES). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WERE ALL FOUR TIRE WERE REPLACED WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND. THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT THESE TIRE ARE UNSAFE FOR USE ON UNPAVED ROADS AND REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE COST INCURRED DUE TO THE FAULTY TIRES. *NM
DT THE CONTACT STATED THAT AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE FIRST TIME THEY SAID IT WAS THE SENSOR, AND THEY REPLACED IT. THE SECOND TIME THEY SAID IT WAS THE COMPUTER, AND THEY REPLACED THE COMPUTER. THE THIRD TIME THEY REPLACED A SPRING. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE AIR BAG MAY OR MAY NOT DEPLOY IF INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN THE DEALER FOR THE FOURTH TIME. THE AIR BAG LIGHT AFFECTED THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT AS WELL. THEY BOTH COME ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. *AK
DT: ON AUGUST 19 2005 THE OWNER WAS TOLD BY A FRIEND THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS WORN OUT. THE OWNER CHECKED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND IT WAS WORN. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS WORN. OWNER HAS NEVER USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE OWNER GOT IN THE VEHICLE AND SET THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, THEN THE TRUCK ROLLED FORWARD AS IF THERE WAS NO EMERGENCY BRAKE. THERE WERE NO OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE.*AK
DT: THE FUEL PUMP QUIT PUMPING GAS, THE WIRING GOT HOT ON IT AND IT STARTED SMOKING. TOOKE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID FUEL PUMP WAS BAD AND WIRING OVERHEATED. THEY REPLACED THE PUMP, AND THE WIRING. THIS HAPPENED ON AUGUST 3, 2005. *AK
DT: THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED AROUND 8-1-05. AT THIS TIME ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE DASH AREA STARTED FLASHING BEFORE THE BATTERY DIED. THIS OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE BATTERY HAD BEEN REPLACED BECAUSE IT FAILED PREVIOUSLY. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT THEY BELIEVED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED A SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. DT: ON JULY 16, 2005 WHILE TRAVELING AT 55 MPH CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. TOTALED THE OTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED TO SEE WHY THEAIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. CONSUMER CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY ADVISED CONSUMER NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE AIRBAGS MIGHT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE BODY SHOP YESTERDAY TO BE FIXED. THE CONSUMER SPRAINED BACK AND NECK. A POLICE REPORT WAS ISSUED.*AK
DT: ON JULY 11, 2005 THE CONSUMER'S REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. A PART OF THE SIDEWALL AND A PART OF THE TIRE TREAD COME OFF, ABOUT 2 INCHES LONG ON THE SIDE AND ABOUT 1 INCH IN THE TREAD. THE TREAD PEELED BACK FROM THE TIRE WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING 15-25 MPH. THE TIRE ONLY HAD ONLY 2,286 MILES ON IT. *NM

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

WE OWN A 2005 CHEVY TRAIL BLAZER. OUR 11-YEAR OLD SON FELL ASLEEP AND LAY DOWN WITH SHOULDER-HARNESSED SEAT BELT ON IN THE BACK SEAT - PASSENGER SIDE. UPON ARRIVING AT OUR DESTINATION HE WAS AWAKENED. AT THIS POINT HE SAT UP, RELEASED THE LATCH, AN TRIED TO GET OUT. THE SEAT BELT WAS TWISTED AROUND HIS WAIST AND AS HE TRIED TO UNTANGLE THE BELT THE RATCHET GOT SIGNIFICANTLY TIGHTER. WHEN I REALIZED THE PROBLEM DEVELOPING AND GOT AROUND TO HIM THE BELT WAS SO TIGHT THAT I COULD NOT UNTANGLE HIM OR SLIP HIM THROUGH THE LOOP. HE WAS IN SEVERE PAIN. HE HAD EITHER TURNED IN HIS SEAT, OR SAT UP ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE SHOULDER STRAP, OR SOMETHING ELSE. NOT WANTING ANY INJURY TO MY SON'S BACK OR ANY INTERNAL ORGANS I HAD TO CUT THE BELT. IT WAS ABOUT 12:30 AM. I HAVE SINCE BEEN TOLD THAT FOR SHOULDER HARNESSED BELTS, WHEN THE SHOULDER STRAP IS PULLED ALL THE WAY OUT AS FOR USE WITH CHILD SAFETY SEATS THIS ENGAGES THE RATCHETING MECHANISM. I BELIEVE THAT THERE NEEDS TO BE A "RELEASE BUTTON" FOR EMERGENCY USE ON THE BACK OF THE COLUMN WHICH HOUSES THE SHOULDER STRAP. SINCE THE BRAKES WERE NOT ENGAGED I DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE SHOULDER STRAP WOULD NOT LOOSEN.*AK
