I have 2 GM vehicles that the Airbag light came on within 3 days of each other and neither has had any such issue ever. [XXX] 2010 Chevy Tahoe LTZ with 285,000 miles [XXX] 2011 Chevy Silverado LS with only 88,500 miles Local dealership wants $180.00 each just to check out the issue I just think this is very coincidental. I wanted to express a concern regarding my vehicle. There are several wires exposed on my dashboard where multiple cracks have developed over time. I have been hesitant to bring the vehicle in for the airbag recall replacement because I am concerned that the existing damage to the dashboard could worsen during the repair process. My primary worry is that additional cracking could expose more wiring to heat, which may increase the risk of electrical issues, wire corrosion, or even a potential fire hazard. I would appreciate any guidance on how this situation could be addressed safely while completing the necessary recall work. Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your advice on the best next steps.
The contact owned a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact received notifications and cards of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V053000 (Air Bags) and would like to be removed from the recall distribution list because the vehicle was totaled. The dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was not contacted.
I got into a bad accident 3 weeks ago. I flipped 4 times and not one air bag deployed. I suffer some injuries.
I contacted Don Mealey Chevrolet in Clairmont Fl and was informed by them they can do air bag recall. But I must sign a waver if the dash crackes in the process they are not responsible for damages and I will have to pay for dash if I want it fixed. Why would I be responsible if this is a recall.I contacted Chevrolet and was informed its a case by case thing and they will not guarantee dash being fixed. Why would I want to chance this.

To Whom It May Concern, I have a 2010 Tahoe LTZ which has a cracked dashboard. I have called around to get this fixed and this is very expensive at the dealership for over $1500. I had checked around and found out that this is a common issue with certain types of GM vehicles and mine is on the list. I will like for this to be replaced by GM because because this is truly a safety issue because the cracks are on the driver side near the airbags. The dashboard has cracked and split around the passenger side airbag. The sharp edges of the plastic could be a hazard in an accident. The edges are very sharp.
I PURCHASED MY 2010 IN 2011 AND THE DASH CRACKED IN 2012. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER TWICE AND CHEVY WILL STILL NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR ITS POOR QUALITY AND MANUFACTURING. A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD AND HAD NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT SHOULD NOT HAVE COSMETIC DAMAGE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A MANUFACTURERS PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY THE COMPANY. MY TRUCK WAS WORTH 48,000 AT THE TIME AND I SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A REPAIR CAUSED BY POOR QUALITY OF THEIR MATERIALS. NOW MY VEHICLE IS 9 YEARS OLD AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED OUT OF NOWHERE WHEN MY SON WAS DRIVING.... THERE WAS NO WRECK OR IMPACT WITH ANYTHING AND THEY DEPLOYED. THE QUALITY USED BY CHEVY IS TERRIBLE AND I DO NOT PLAN ON PURCHASING ANYTHING ELSE FROM A COMPANY THAT SELLS OVER PRICED VEHICLES WITH CHEAP AND FAULTY PARTS THAT THEY DON'T WANT TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR.

THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2010 TAHOE HAS MULTIPLE CRACKS AND IS BROKEN ALL OVER FROM NO FAULT OF MY OWN. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR MANY PEOPLE WITH GM VEHICLES OF THIS NATURE AND THE COMPANY WON'T HELP ME REPAIR OR REPLACE MY DASH. I'M SCARED THAT IF I GET INTO AN ACCIDENT THAT THE AIRBAGS WONT DEPLOY OR IF THEY DO, IT WILL BE WITH THOUSANDS OF DANGEROUS BROKEN PLASTIC CHARDS! I AM SEEKING HELP IN THIS MATTER SO THAT THE COMPANY CAN UNDERSTAND THAT THEIR PRODUCT HAS FAULTS AND IS PUTTING CONSUMERS IN RISK OF SERIOUS HARM AND INJURY.
I HAVE A CRACKED DASH NEAR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG, I'VE CONTACTED SEVERAL ENTITIES ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND WAS TOLD IT COULDN'T BE REPAIRED DUE TO PROXIMITY TO THE AIR BAG, I THEN SEARCHED ONLINE AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST GM DUE TO FAULTY INTERIOR DASH, IF THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, UTMOST DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED.
TRIED TO GET TAKATA AIRBAGS REPLACED, AND DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO HELP.

"TAKATA RECALL" WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG TO ISSUE THE GM RECALL. TAKATA BELIEVES THAT THE GM AIRBAGS HAVE THE SAME ISSUES THAT OTHER MANUFACTURERS' AIRBAGS HAVE HAD, BUT THE NHTSA IS DRAGGING ITS FEET REGARDING THE ISSUANCE OF THE RECALL. YOU ISSUED THE ORIGINAL RECALL 2.5 YEARS AGO. YOU HAVE HAD GM'S PETITION FOR AT LEAST A YEAR (ASSUMING IT WAS TIMELY FILED). THIS IS RIDICULOUS. WHAT COULD BE TAKING YOU SO LONG? YOU ARE PUTTING PEOPLE'S LIVES AT RISK. IS THERE A REASON THAT YOU THINK THE AIRBAGS ISSUED TO GM BY TAKATA ARE LESS DANGEROUS THAN THOSE ISSUED TO OTHER MANUFACTURERS? STOP TRYING TO HELP GM PROTECT ITS' POCKET BOOKS AT THE EXPENSE OF PEOPLE'S LIVES. DO YOUR JOB. ISSUE THE SAME RECALL THAT YOU HAVE ISSUED FOR THE OTHER MANUFACTURERS.
