MY DASH IS CRACKED IN 4 DIFFERENT PLACES. ONE CRACK EXTENDS TO THE AIRBAG AND I AM AFRAID IF THE AIRBAG WERE TO DEPLOY PIECES OF THE DASH WOULD BREAK OFF AND POTENTIALLY HIT SOMEONE. IT IS ALSO VERY ANNOYING BECAUSE IT RATTLES CONSTANTLY.
MULTIPLE CRACKS ON TOP OF DASHBOARD ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES NEAR AIRBAG. IF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY DUE TO A CRASH, THERE WILL BE MULTIPLE PIECES OF THE DASHBOARD BROKEN THAT COULD INHIBIT THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAGS OR CAUSE PLASTIC PIECES TO IMPALE A PASSENGER. THE DEALERSHIP HAS DECLINED TO REPAIR UNDER A GM RECALL.
I HAVE TWO CRACKS THAT APPEARED ON MY DASHBOARD FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON. ONE IS ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE OTHER IS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AT THE EDGE OF THE AIRBAG COMPARTMENT. THE ONE BY THE AIRBAG IS THE SHAPE OF A TRIANGLE AND A WHOLE PIECE OF THE DASH FELL OFF. I BELIEVE IT IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED IT WOULD VERY LIKELY CATCH ON THE MISSING PIECE OF DASH AND RIP. IT SEEMS THAT IT COULD ALSO CAUSE THE DASH TO CRACK FURTHER AND PIECES OF THE DASH COULD GO FLYING AT A PASSENGER IF THERE WERE AN ACCIDENT. I TOOK IT TO TWO DIFFERENT CHEVY DEALERS AND NEITHER OF THEM WOULD ADMIT IT WAS DANGEROUS AND WANTED TO CHANGE OVER 800 DOLLARS TO REPAIR IT.
I HAVE TWO BIG CRACKS IN MY DASHBOARD. THESE CRACKS ARE NOT FROM LACK OF MAINTENANCE OR FROM SUN-DAMAGE. THIS IS FROM FAULTY PRODUCT INSTALLED BY GMC/CHEVROLET. I KNOW OF AT LEAST 3 OTHER VEHICLES AT MY COMPANY THAT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND IN THE SAME SPOT. YOU CAN ALSO PULL STORY AFTER STORY UP ONLINE ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE AND GM REFUSES TO PUT A RECALL OUT FOR THEIR FAULTY PRODUCT. WITH THE LOCATION OF THE CRACKS WHICH ARE NEXT TO THE AIRBAGS IT IS MY FEAR THAT IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS THAT IT WILL CAUSE SHRAPENAL TO FLY ABOUTH THE VEHICLE. THIS IS NOT ONLY A FLAW OF GM BUT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO A PASSENGER OF THE VEHICLE.
DRIVING ALONG ONE DAY AT 45 MPH AND THE DASHBOARD JUST CRACKED. MINE HAS CRACKED OVER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO HAS THE SAME CRACK AS WELL AS A CRACK OVER THE AIR BAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE CRACKED DASH IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED, I AM ALSO CONCERNED WHAT MAY HAPPEN IF THE AIR BAG GOES OFF WITH WHAT IS OBVIOUSLY A BRITTLE DASH.
DASHBOARD ABOVE SPEEDOMETER HUMP CRACKED. 6 MONTHS LATER A CRACK ON PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE BY AIRBAGS CRACKED. THE CRACKS ARE CONTINUALLY GETTING LONGER. A TOTAL OF 3 CRACKS.
DASH CRACKING ABOVE GAUGE CLUSTER AND AROUND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. CONCERNED THAT IF PIECES WOULD COME LOOSE IN AN ACCIDENT IT COULD IMPEDE ON THE PROTECTION FROM THE AIRBAG.
DASH CRACKING ALL ALONG AIR BAG. AND ALL OVER DASH. WHICH CAN LEAD TO AIR BAG SAFETY ISSUES WHILE IN A WRECK.
I PURCHASED BRAND NEW CHEVROLET TAHOE IN 2010, THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 75,000 MILES AND HAS DEVELOPED A CRACK IN THE DASHBOARD. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF SINCE PURCHASE, SO VERY UPSET THAT THE DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED. IT STARTED CRACKING A YEAR AFTER HAVING WARRANTY WORK DONE ( DASH HAD TO BE REMOVED TO REPLACE ONSTAR SYSTEM).
CRACKED DASHBOARD NEAR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG AND ABOVE THE SPEEDOMETER
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL RATTLING NOISE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE CENTER OF THE DASHBOARD WAS CRACKED ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND NEAR THE PASSENGER AND FRONT AIR BAGS. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE AIR BAG COULD DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DASHBOARD JUST CRACKED IN FRONT OF CONSOLE/STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS SIMILAR TO A PROBLEM I HAD WITH A 2001 CHEVY TAHOE I OWNED PREVIOUSLY TO THIS. THAT INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, THIS TIME IT HAPPENED AFTER WARRANTY HAD ENDED.
DASHBOARD CRACKED ON PASSENGER SIDE AT UPPER LEFT CORNER OF AIRBAG. SAFETY CONCERN SINCE PLASTIC IS CRACKED. CANNOT GET ANSWER ON TAKATA RECALL NOTICE.
GARAGE KEPT TAHOE HAS CRACKED DASHBOARD ABOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. IF CAR WAS IN AN ACCIDENT, SHARDS OF SHARP PLASTIC COULD INJURE PASSENGERS. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE IN GM VEHICLES. GM SHOULD HAVE A RECALL TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD.
THE DASHBOARD CRACKED STARTING WITH THE LEFT CORNER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AND CONTINUES ACROSS THE DASH ALL THE WAY TO THE DRIVERS SIDE STEERING COLUMN. A SMALL PIECE NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG FELL INTO THE DASH AND WE ARE CONCERNED THAT IT COULD BECOME A PROJECTILE IF THE AIRBAG WERE TO DEPLOY. THE CRACK APPEARED SUDDENLY AND HAS WORSENED OVER TIME. PARKING/STORING CONDITIONS OF THE VEHICLE HAVE VARIED OVER TIME AND NO SPECIFIC INCIDENT THAT WE ARE AWARE OF CAUSED THE CRACK.
THE DASHBOARD HAS TWO CRACKS. THE FIRST CRACK, EXTENDING FROM FRONT TO BACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FROM THE FRONT EDGE OF THE DASHBOARD BACK INTO THE COVER (LEFT FRONT CORNER) OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG, APPEARED THE WEEK OF JUNE 29, 2015. THE SECOND CRACK BEGAN APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS LATER ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF DASHBOARD. IT STARTED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE DOME PORTION COVERING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CRACK PROGRESSED APPROXIMATELY 1 1/2 INCHES AND SPLIT INTO A "V" SHAPE AND IS CONTINUING UP THE DOME. OUR SAFETY CONCERNS ARE TWOFOLD. FIRST, IS THE CRACK AT THE AIRBAG GOING TO INTERFERE WITH IT'S PROPER FUNCTION OR PIERCE IT UPON DEPLOYMENT. SECOND, IF WE'RE INVOLVED IN A WRECK, WILL THE SHARP POINTS OF PLASTIC DASH INVOLVED IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE CRACK CAUSE INJURIES IF THE FORCES OF A COLLISION TURN THEM INTO PROJECTILES. THIS PROBLEM WITH GM/CHEVY DASHBOARDS IS WIDESPREAD AND IT MUST BE ADDRESSED AND RECTIFIED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED DUE TO THE COMPANY'S NEGLIGENCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED THREE TIMES IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE RAN OFF THE ROAD INTO A DITCH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. CRACKS HAVE FORMED IN THE DASHBOARD FOR NO REASON. IT STARTED WITH ONE CRACK ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, WHICH CONTINUES TO WORSEN, AND NOW ONE HAS FORMED BY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG, WHICH HAS ME CONCERNED FOR SAFETY SHOULD THE AIRBAG NEED TO DEPLOY.
THE DASH HAS 2 LARGE CRACKS, I HAVE OTHER VEHICLES MUCH OLDER WITH OUT ANY DASH CRACKS. THIS HAS TO BE DUE TO BAD MATERIAL. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO AIR BAG INFLATION AND THE POSSIBILITY OF PROPELLING A CHUNK OF PLASTIC FROM THE DASH.
I HAVE A 2010 CHEV TAHOE THAT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. MY DASH BOTH FRONT AND BACK HAS CRACKS. I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF MY TAHOE WHICH YOU CAN TELL BY THE CONDITION IT IS IN BOTH OUTSIDE AND INSIDE. IN FACT, I STILL HAVE THE PLASTIC PROTECTOR COVER OVER THE LENS ON THE RADIO. GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THE DASHES. ALSO, MY AIR BAG MADE BY TAKATA NEEDS TO BE REPLACED!!! I HAVE SPOKEN WITH DEALERSHIPS IN MY AREA AND BOTH OF THESE 2 THINGS HAVE BEEN A BIG CONCERN WITH CUSTOMERS. GM NEEDS TO STEP UP AND TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS!
CRACKED DASH BY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG
I CAME OUT TO START MY CAR ONE DAY AND NOTICED THAT MY DASH BOARD CRACKED IN TWO PLACES. IT SEEMS LIKE IT HAPPENED OVER NIGHT THERES A HUGE CRACK SPLITTING INTO ANOTHER ONE ABOVE MY STEERING WHEEL AND ANOTHER CRACK ON THE CREASE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WHICH IS CAUSING IT TO LIFT AND LOOKS LIKE IT COULD SET OFF THE AIRBAG UNEXPECTEDLY. VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY AS I HAVE CHILDREN IN THE CAR ON A DAILY BASIS.
CRACKED DASHBOARD. AT THE MOMENT THE DASH HAS CRACKED OVER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND AT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG.
CRACKS APPEARED ON DASH, AROUND THE INSTRUMENT PANELS, AROUND THE CENTRAL SPEAKER AND ALSO ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH, AROUND THE AIRBAGS. CRACKS KEEP EXPANDING, LOTS OF RATTLING AND BOUNCING WHILE ON THE ROAD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V381000 (AIR BAGS) EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR REPAIR. THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTIFICATION IN MAY OF 2015. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO PARK THE VEHICLE AND WAIT FOR THE PART TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS FRACTURED NEAR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAG AREAS. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HERNDON CHEVROLET (5617 SUNSET BLVD, LEXINGTON, SC 29072) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRACK EXTENDED OVER TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V381000 (AIR BAGS). THERE ARE 2 CRACKS ON THE DASH, ONE ON EACH SIDE WHICH COULD CAUSE HARM/DEATH TO THE PASSENGERS BECAUSE OF FLYING PLASTIC SHOULD AN AIRBAG DEPLOY. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND GM WITH NEGATIVE RESULTS. IT WAS FIRST NOTICED IN APRIL 2015 AND THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 32,000 MILES.
DASHBOARD IS CRACKED IN MULTIPLE PLACES AND GM REFUSES TO REPLACE IT. ONE MAJOR CRACK IF FROM THE AIRBAG COVER FORWARD. I AM IN FEAR OF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYING AND PIECES OF PLASTIC DASH FLYING ALL OVER THE PLACE. I AM ONE OF THOUSANDS WHO HAVE THESE CRACKS BUT GM IS REFUSING TO REPLACE THEM.

THE DASHBOARD IT IS CRACKED WITH TWO MAJOR CRACKS. FEAR THAT THE AIRBAGS WILL DEPLOY WITHOUT COLLISION.
2010 CHEVROLET TAHOE LTZ CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD DRIVE BUT IN A JERKING MOTION. WE HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS A ENGINE CONTROL MODULE DTC P2135, THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER DISPLAYED AND THE TRACTION OFF ALSO DISPLAYED. THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO CLEAN OUT THE THROTTLE BODY TO REMOVE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I THEN CALLED MY LOCAL CHEVROLET/GM SERVICE CENTER IN EAST HARTFORD, CT AND THEY SAID THAT THE ITEM IS COVERED UNDER A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT #11273 FOR A PERIOD OF 10 YEARS OR 120,000 MILES BUT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO UNTIL THE LIGHT COMES BACK ON. HE INFORMED ME THAT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN, THOUGH. I THEN CALLED CORPORATE GM AND THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO EXCEPT WAIT FOR THE ISSUE TO ARISE. THE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THE ENGINE SPEED WOULD REDUCE TO 50MPH BUT IT ISN'T A SAFETY CONCERN. IF THIS CAR IS TRAVELING AT 65-70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND REDUCES SPEED TO 50MPH WITH NO BRAKE LIGHT HOW IS THIS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE??? NEEDLESS TO SAY, THEY SAID THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING THEY COULD DO SO NOW I HAVE TO HAVE MY WIFE AND 2 KIDS DRIVE AROUND IN A VEHICLE THAT WE KNOW HAS AN ISSUE BUT CANNOT NOT GET IT FIXED PROPERLY UNTIL IT OCCURS AGAIN. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS A SAFETY RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED. CASE #[XXX]. THE DASHBOARD IS CRACKING IN SEVERAL PLACES. ONE LOCATION IS RIGHT ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THE OTHER IS AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT COULD RESULT IN PLASTIC BREAKING FREE AND BECOME FLYING PROJECTILES WITHIN THE CABIN. LIKE MANY OTHER VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME ISSUE, THE VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED, GARAGE KEPT, AND IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. THE WAY THAT GM DESIGNED THE DASHBOARDS AND THE MATERIALS USED FOR THE DASHBOARDS ARE THE REASON FOR THIS ISSUE. BOTH GM AND OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAVE DENIED ME ANY ASSISTANCE IN HAVING THE DASHBOARD REPLACED. *TR

AT 60,000 MILES VEHICLE DEVELOPED A CRACKED DASH NEAR PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. APPROXIMATELY 4,000 MILES LATER A SECOND CRACK HAS APPEARED FORWARD OF THE GAUGE CLUSTER AND IS GROWING. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN IF PIECES OF SHARP PLASTIC FLY LOOSE AND CAUSE INJURY.

THE DASHBOARD IS CRACKED AND LOOKS VERY UNAPPEALING. THERE IS ALSO A SAFETY CONCERN, IF THE AIR BAGS WERE EVER TO DEPLOY I FEAR THAT THE CRACKED PLASTIC WOULD DISINTEGRATE AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY.
DASH BOARD IS CRACKING NEAR AIR BAG AREA AND OVER GAUGES ON DRIVERS SIDE. THIS COULD BE A PROBLEM IN A CRASH DUE TO DASH PIECES FLYING AROUND IN THE EVENT IF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYING.
FACTORY ALUMINUM WHEELS ARE BEING CORRODED BY DE ICING LIQUID TO THE POINT THAT TIRES WILL NOT HOLD AIR PRESSURE. *TR

DASHBOARD IS CRACKING ON PASSENGER SIDE AND DRIVER SIDE. COULD PUNCTURE AIRBAG IN EVENT OF A CRASH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. I HAVE A CRACK IN THE CORNER OF MY AIRBAG. AFTER RESEARCH I HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT CRACKS IN THEIR DASHBOARDS EITHER ON THE CORNER OF THE AIRBAG OR STEERING COLUMN. THERE HAS ALSO BEEN A FACEBOOK PAGE STARTED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. IT IS GM YUKON AND TAHOE CRACKED DASHBOARDS. LOOKING AT ALL THE PICTURES POSTED THERE IS A BIT SHOCKING. YOU CAN NOT TELL ONE PICTURE FROM ANOTHER BECAUSE THEY ALL ARE CRACKED IN THE SAME SPOT. AFTER CONTACTING GM I WAS TOLD THEY HAVE MANY COMPLAINTS DAILY BUT GM WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL IN THE DASHBOARDS. MY CONCERN ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS, IS IF THIS COULD SOME HOW AFFECT THE PERFORMANCE OF THE AIRBAG. I CURRENTLY DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO RIDE IN MY FRONT SEAT OUT IF FEAR OF THE AIRBAG. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO UNLATCH THE SEAT BELT, THE BUCKLE LOCKED AND FAILED TO RELEASE THE SEAT BELT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN VERIFIED THE FAILURE WAS THE SEAT BELT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,413.
