I JUST PURCHASED THIS 2002 TRAILBLAZER SEPT 30 2006.. IT WAS NOVEMBER 22, 2006- THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE BLINKING WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE. THE ONSTAR LIGHTS WERE ON. THE SEAT BELT LIGHTS WERE ON. LATER THE NEXT DAY, MY FATHER GOT IN MY VEHICLE TO MOVE IT, WHEN THE BRAKE SENSOR CAME ON AND WOULDN'T GO OFF. HE DIDN'T USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. MY FATHER CALLED APPLE CHEVY IN WEST YORK PA TO SEE WHAT THEY COULD DO. THE 24TH THEY CALLED AND SAID THE VEHICLE NEEDED A E.B.C.M. ( ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE ). I HAVE A 9 MONTH OLD SON. I GET TO GO PAY FOR THE BILL, AND IT COSTS 930. 25 FOR A VEHICLE THAT WASN'T THAT OLD. IT DOES HAVE 144, 000 + MILES BUT IT WAS WELL MAINTAINED OR SO I THOUGHT. THEY DID A CAR FAX AND IT WAS CLEAN. OR SO I THOUGHT. APPLE CHEVY IN WEST YORK WOULDN'T HELP WITH ANY COST REPAIRS. THEY SAID WHEN YOU GET AN AS IS VEHICLE, ITS YOUR PROBLEM. WELL AFTER 4 VEHICLES THAT MY DAD BOUGHT FROM THEM, WE ARE NO LONGER CUSTOMERS. ME BEING A HOT HEAD, MY DAD TOLD ME TO NOT SAY NOTHING AND BE NICE. I KEPT MY COMMENTS TO A LOW ROAR. I CALLED THE GENERAL MANAGER AND HE SAID AN AS IS SALE IS WHAT IT IS. I GOT NO SATISFACTION. BUT A COMMENT I SAID TO HIM WAS- WHAT IF IT WAS YOUR WIFE AND SON WHAT WOULD YOU DO? HE SAID I WOULDN'T BUY AN AS IS VEHICLE. I BASICALLY ASKED IF HE WANTED SOME LEMONADE FROM THE VEHICLE I JUST GOT. I SAID WELL I MUST HAVE SUCKER WRITTEN ON MY HEAD AND THAT NEXT TIME WARN ME ABOUT GETTING MORE KY FOR THE SCREWING I JUST RECEIVED. HE BASICALLY SAID SORRY I FEEL THAT WAY. WE COULD BRING IT BACK AND GET SOMETHING DIFFERENT FROM THEM. BUT I BASICALLY SAID NO AND HUNG UP. STILL THE RADIO MALFUNCTIONS, THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE MAY WORK SOMETIMES, THE VEHICLE ACTED LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. THEN AFTER BEING TOWED, IT ACTS FINE. SO AT PRESENT, IT SITS IN MY PARENTS GARAGE NOT DRIVEN WITH $ I STILL PAY FOR INSURANCE AND PAYMENTS. I DID HEAR A GRINDING FROM THE SHIFTER WHEN PUTTING IT INTO DRIVE. I DON'T TRUST IT. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE APPLYING BRAKE PRESSURE AT 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE BRAKES PULSATED, AND THERE WAS AN INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT ALL FOUR ROTORS WERE CORROSIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.
I HAVE A 2002 TRAILBLAZER, THE TRANSMISSION JUST WENT OUT ON IT. I ONLY HAVE 75,000 MILE AND AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH HAVE FOUND OUT THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM. JUST ON GOGGLE THERE ARE 97,100 HITS FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH THE TRAILBLAZER. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ODOR OF FUEL WAS NOTICED IN THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE. IT WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, WHO REPLACED THE SYNCHRONIZE VALVE, FUEL SENDING UNIT AND FUEL FILTER. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE SENDING UNIT. THE CONSUMER HAD THE PROBLEM REPAIRED, HOWEVER IT RESURFACED AGAIN. UPDATED 12/18/06. *JB
I BOUGHT A 2002 TRAILBLAZER LZT ON 8/5/06 FROM CARMAX. VEHICLE HAD BEEN DOING FINE UNTIL 11/14/06. I WAS PULLING OUT ON THE ROAD MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AND IT JUST SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL ON IT'S OWN AND LEFT ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH A FED EX TRUCK BARRELING TOWARDS ME. I SHIFTED THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND SWITCHED IT OVER TO THE 4WD AND IT WENT INTO GEAR. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE CARMAX WHERE I PURCHASED IT FROM AND THEY FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM ALTHOUGH WHEN TAKEN TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP THEY CAN FIND NO EVIDENT PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. I HAVE LOOKED UP THIS VEHICLE ON MY CAR STATS.COM AND WAS HORRIFIED TO FIND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS VEHICLE. GM NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE PEOPLE GET SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED! I AM ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED TO TAKE MY (2) CHILDREN WITH ME ANYWHERE UNTIL THIS PROBLEM IS FIXED. *NM
WIPER STUTTER AND STOP COMPLETELY WITHOUT WARNING WHILE IN INTERMITTENT MODE. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS INOPERABLE. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL, #03V096000, REGARDING THE ELECTRICAL; WIRING; INTERIOR/UNDER DASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.
PLANETARY GEAR IN TRANSMISSION - NO SIGNS OF FAILURE UNTIL I LOST SECOND GEAR, FORTH GEAR AND REVERSE. I DO NOT PULL OR TOW ANYTHING AND THE CAR ONLY HAS 56000 MILES. THE MORE I READ ABOUT THIS GEAR THE MORE I AM DISAPPOINTED. *NM
2002 TRAILBLAZER WITH APPROX. 34,000 MILES; PURCHASED NEW. AS I WAS DRIVING. THERE WAS A LOUD, VIOLENT CLUNK FROM UNDER THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO COAST AROUND A CORNER AND INTO THE RIGHT LANE OF ANOTHER STREET. AFTER WAITING FOR OVER AN HOUR FOR A TOW TRUCK, I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE THE CAR (SLOWLY) ABOUT 1/4 MILE INTO A LARGE PARKING LOT. THE ENTIRE TIME I WAS DRIVING, THERE WAS A LOUD WHINING NOISE. WHEN I TRIED TO BACK UP THE CAR, THERE WAS NO REVERSE GEAR. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER TOOK ME AND THE CAR TO A CHEVROLET DEALER. THE SERVICE PERSON CALLED ME A SHORT TIME LATER TO SAY THE SUN SHIELD WAS BROKEN, AND REPAIRS WOULD BE A MINIMUM OF $1800, POSSIBLY MORE IF ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS WERE FOUND ONCE THE TRANSMISSION WAS PULLED. EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE ONLY 34,000 MILES ON THE CAR, HE ADVISED THAT IT WAS 1-1/2 YEARS PAST THE TIME PORTION OF THE WARRANTY. MY CAR IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP UNTIL I CAN DO MORE RESEARCH INTO THE APPARENTLY WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AT 5 MPH, A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE COOLING FAN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
I HAVE OWNED MY CHEVY TRAILBLAZER SINCE OCTOBER 16, 2004. I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE 6 MONTHS AFTER A SAFETY RECALL WAS ISSUED ON THE SEAT BELTS ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE RECENTLY HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT IT HAS EXTRACTED AND WILL NOT RETRACT. I TOOK IT TO CRYSTAL CHEVROLET IN CRYSTAL RIVER FLORIDA FOR THEM TO TRY AND DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE DETERMINED THAT IT IS THE MECHANISMS INSIDE THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SYSTEM SHOWED THAT THE RECALL HAD ALREADY BEEN DONE ON THIS VEHICLE BASED ON MY VIN NUMBER. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY WOULD DO FOR ME UNLESS I WANTED TO PAY THEM 325.00 TO REPAIR IT. I DON'T FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE AN EXPENSE I SHOULD INCUR DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE RECALL CLEARLY STATES THAT WHEN SENT IN FOR THE RECALL IT WOULD ONLY BE REPLACED IF NECESSARY. I FEEL THAT AT THAT TIME THERE MAY HAVE NOT BEEN A PROBLEM WITH IT THEREFORE IT WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND NOW THAT I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH I AM TOLD THAT IT CAN'T BE REPAIRED DUE TO ME NOT BEING THE 1ST OWNER AND THAT IT WAS ALREADY BROUGHT IN TO GM FOR THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE DEFINITELY TAKEN CARE OF ON THE BEHALF OF GM. THERE IS NO PROOF THAT THIS VEHICLES PROBLEM WAS ACTUALLY REPLACED AT THE TIME OF THE RECALL. *JB
DOORS RATTLE AND SHIFT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE WINDOWS ALSO RATTLE, PARTICULARLY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, FRONT AND BACK. ALSO, THE AIR/HEAT BLOWER IS STUCK ON #4. IT WON'T BLOW ON ANY OTHER SETTINGS
I DRIVE A 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER 4WD AND MY SON WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON HALLOWEEN NIGHT. HE WAS DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT OF 30 MPH AND SWERVED TO AVOID A POSSUM IN THE ROAD, HE OVERCORRECTED AND LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR CAUSING THE CAR TO COLIDE WITH A TREE AT THE FRONT PANEL AND DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. UPON IMPACT THE AIR BAG DID NOT INFLATE AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY CAUGHT FIRE. LUCKILY MY SON WAS ABLE TO CRAWL OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW BUT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A TERRIBLE SITUATION. WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THE AIRBAG DID NOT INFLATE AND WHY THE CAR WOULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE WITH A DRIVER'S SIDE IMPACT?
I HAVE A 2002 TRAILBLAZER WITH ABOUT 50,200 MILES AND THE OTHER DAY IT BEGAN TO MAKE A HIGH PITCHED SOUND, ALMOST LIKE A PLANE LANDING. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, HE SAID IT'S THE FAN CLUTCH AND IT'S GOING TO COST $711 TO FIX. WHEN I ASKED IF THIS IS NORMAL WEAR & TEAR, I DID NOT GET A PROPER ANSWER. THE RESPONSE WAS THAT THIS HAPPENS A LOT ON THE CHEVY & GM VEHICLES. WHEN I CALLED CHEVY CORPORATION, I WAS GIVEN A CLAIM# & TOLD THAT THEY WILL HAVE TO INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM & THEN THEY WILL CALL ME BACK IN ABOUT 3 DAYS TO ADVISE IF THEY WILL HELP WITH THE COSTS OF THE REPAIR. BOTH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS I SPOKE WITH AT CHEVROLET CORPORATION (800-222-1020) TOLD ME THAT THEY'VE PERSONALLY NEVER HAD SUCH A COMPLAINT BEFORE AND THAT THIS WAS NEW TO THEM. BUT WHEN I GOOGLED THIS PROBLEM FOR THE CHEVY TRAILBLAZER 2002, I GOT SEVERAL WEB PAGES INCLUDING NHTSA WHICH DOCUMENTED THIS PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD DEFINITELY BE A RECALL ITEM. I AM NOW WAITING TO SEE IF CHEVROLET WILL HELP AND TO WHAT EXTENT. *NM
TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT 56,000 MILES. DEALER DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS A FAULTY SUNSHELL, WHICH FROM WHAT I AM READING, IS A PROBLEM ON MANY GM VEHICLES. I CALLED GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE SINCE I CAN NOT AFFORD THE $1,300 BILL FOR THIS PROBLEM, AND THEY SAY THEY WILL NOT OFFER ME ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED. REGARDLESS, THE FAULTY PART IS AN ISSUE GM NEEDS TO ADDRESS!!! *JB
OUR MOTOR CAME TO PART. WE'VE ONLY HAD A FEW VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP WHICH WAS NOT RECORDED. WHEN WE NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP HE GAVE US PAPERS OF A SPECIAL WARRANTY PUT ON OUR VEHICLE. ONE THAT LAST UNTIL 100,000. PROBLEM BEING WE'VE NEVER RECEIVED ONE PAGE OF THIS. WE HAVE A 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. *JB

AFTER A YEAR, THE SAME ISSUE RECURRED. UPDATED 11/16/06. *JB THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE SHIFTER WOULD STICK WHEN TRYING TO MOVE IT FROM PARK TO DRIVE. THE MOONROOF WOULD NOT CLOSE
I ALSO HAD A NOISE FROM UNDERNEATH VEHICLE GETTING LOUDER OVER 3-4 DAYS THEN SMELL OF GAS BEGAN AND GOT VERY STRONG AFTER A COUPLE DAYS. WHEN IT SMELLED BAD WE TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THE FUEL SENDING UNIT AND FILTER NEEDED REPLACED. THERE WAS A SMALL HOLE WHICH WAS CAUSED BY CORROSION THAT THE MECHANIC SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. HE SAID IF I HADN'T BROUGHT IT WHEN I DID THAT THE VEHICLE COULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE. *JB
I KEPT SMELLING THE STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE IN THE GARAGE OR EVEN IN THE PARKING LOT FOR ABOUT A DAY AFTER I FILLED MY FUEL TANK ON MY 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THERE SOMETIMES WAS A WET SPOT ON THE GARAGE FLOOR NEAR THE FILLER CAP THAT APPEARED TO BE GASOLINE. THE "CHECK ENGINE SOON" LIGHT EVENTUALLY CAME ON. THE DEALER COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WHEN THEY PRESSURE-TESTED THE FUEL SYSTEM BUT THE COMPUTER FAULT CODE INDICATED AN EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS FAILURE. THEY RE-SET THE LIGHT, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED AND THE LIGHT SOON CAME BACK ON THE NEXT TIME I RE-FUELED. I READ SOMEWHERE ON THE NETS WEBSITE ABOUT OTHER TRAILBLAZER OWNERS WHO HAD A BROKEN CHECK BALL IN THEIR FILLER NECKS. I SUGGESTED THIS TO THE DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THAT THIS WAS MY PROBLEM TOO. THEY CHARGED ME NEARLY $300 TO REPAIR THE TANK NECK. I FEEL THAT THIS IS THE RESULT OF DEFECTIVE EMISSIONS CONTROL DEVICE AND THEREFORE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. (I HAVE ONLY 50 K MILES ON THE VEHICLE). AT WHAT POINT DOES SOMETHING LIKE THIS BECOME A RECALL SINCE THIS SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING TO OTHERS AS WELL? *NM
2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WITH PERFECT SERVICE HISTORY, HAS CONSTANT TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND NOW HAS A BLOWN TRANSMISSION AND GM HAD OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF, OK'D WITH MY LOCAL DEALER AND LATER CHANGED THEIR MIND AFTER THREE WEEKS OF TRYING TO GET IT TO BE FIXED. BECAUSE THEY HAVE STRUNG ME ALONG I NOW HAVE A $3000 BILL TO FIX IT AND A $1200 RENTAL BILL BECAUSE THEY TOLD ME TO HOLD OFF GETTING IT FIXED BECAUSE THEY COULD HELP ME. *NM
MY VEHICLE IS A 2002 TRAILBLAZER LTZ. IT HAS THE "MEMORY" MIRROR OPTION WHICH FEATURES MEMORY SET OPTIONS FOR DRIVER 1 AND DRIVER 2, AS WELL AS REARVIEW CURB ASSISTANCE (THE MIRRORS WILL TILT DOWN TO YOUR SETTING TO HELP PARALLEL PARK WHEN IN REVERSE). THIS OPTION WORKED GREAT FOR A WHILE. THEN, THE MIRRORS STARTED ACTING ERRATICALLY. THEY WOULD CLICK EXCESSIVELY, TILT TOWARDS THE SKY OR DOWN AT THE GROUND. THE MIRRORS QUIT HOLDING THEIR MEMORY, AND EVERY TIME I GOT INTO THE VEHICLE, I WOULD HAVE TO RESET THE MIRRORS. THE WORRISOME PART OF THIS IS THAT THE MIRRORS WILL NOT HOLD THE RESET EITHER AND WHILE DRIVING, THE MIRRORS MOVED. I DRIVE THE INTERSTATE EVERY DAY AND WHEN I CHECKED THE MIRROR TO CHANGE LANES, FOUND MYSELF LOOKING UP AT THE CLOUDS OR DOWN AT THE ROAD. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE!. (I WON'T EVEN FACTOR IN THE ANNOYANCE ASPECT.) MY 17 YEAR OLD DOESN'T UNDERSTAND WHY I WON'T TEACH HER TO DRIVE IN THE "NEWER" CAR AND I EXPLAINED THAT I ACTUALLY FEEL LIKE SHE'S SAFER, IN THE 96 SATURN COUPE, BECAUSE THE MIRRORS ARE RELIABLE. I'VE SEEN THIS COMPLAINT ON SEVERAL SITES AND I SERIOUSLY HAVE TO WONDER WHY THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ON SOMETHING THAT IS FUNDAMENTALLY A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
CLUTCH FAN FAILED TO RELEASE. FAN LOCKED UP WITHOUT WARNING. ENGINE HAS LESS THAN 40,000 MILES. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO DETERMINED THE FUEL PIPE THAT ENTERED THE TANK WAS LEAKING. THE TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROX 44 MPH SOUTHBOUND ON BLANKENBAKER LN (LOUISVILLE KY) WHEN VEHICLE 1 FAILED TO YIELD RIGHT OF WAY AT INTERSECTION AND MADE A LEFT HAND TURN EASTBOUND INTO THE PATH OF MY VEHICLE. I STRUCK VEHICLE 1 (A 1991 CADILLAC BROUGHAM) ESSENTIALLY DRIVING THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. BOTH VEHICLES SUSTAINED SEVERE FRONT END DAMAGE. SPECIFICALLY, MY 2002 TRAILBLAZER SUSTAINED OVER $8000 IN DAMAGE THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I FRACTURED MY STERNUM AND BRUISED MY HEART AS A RESULT OF THIS ACCIDENT. ALL REPAIRS WERE MADE BY GM REPAIR SHOP (BAUCHMAN CHEVROLET, LOUISVILLE KY). I INITIATED AN INVESTIGATION WITH GM AS TO WHY THE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. AFTER 10 MONTH INVESTIGATION, GM RULED THAT ACCIDENT WAS A NON-DEPLOYABLE EVENT STATING THAT MY VEHICLE DID NOT STOP SUDDENLY ENOUGH TO TRIGGER AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT BUT CONTINUED TO TRAVEL AFTER IMPACT BECOMING LODGED ON HIGHWAY DIVIDER. SEE ALSO ACCIDENT OF JAN 7, 2010, WHERE SAME VEHICLE WAS STRUCK HEAD-ON WHILE AT REST. BOTH VEHICLES WERE A TOTAL LOSS. AGAIN, AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND GM SHOP FOUND BROKEN AIRBAG SENSOR AND SEVERE FRAME DAMAGE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE FUEL FITTINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTERWARDS, THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE GASOLINE STORAGE TANK ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED.
I OWN A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER LTZ, PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN THE SPRING OF 2002. IN THE EARLY PART OF 2003, MY SIDE VIEW MIRRORS, WHICH ARE EQUIPPED TO HAVE MEMORY OPTIONS SUCH AS REVERSE CURBVIEW ASSIST, STARTED MALFUNCTIONING. THE MIRRORS WOULD NO LONGER HOLD THEIR MEMORY, RESULTING IN AN ADJUSTMENT TO BOTH MIRRORS EVERY TIME I GOT IN THE CAR. SOMETIMES THE MIRRORS WOULD APPEAR TO GET STUCK AND MAKE A CLICKING NOISE. DANGEROUSLY, SOMETIMES I WOULD LOOK TO CHANGE LANES AND REALIZE MY MIRRORS WERE NOT CORRECT--THEY MIGHT BE POINTING UP AT THE SKY OR DOWN AT THE GROUND. EVENTUALLY, I QUIT USING THE REVERSE CURBVIEW ASSIST OPTION (WHERE THE MIRRORS TILT DOWN TO HELP TO PARALLEL PARK WHEN IN REVERSE) BECAUSE I WAS HOPING THAT NOT MOVING THE MIRRORS AT ALL WOULD HELP. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ACTUATORS IN 2003 AND RESET THE TRANSMITTER RECENTLY ON 9/20/06. THIS HELPED THE MEMORY MIRRORS FOR SOME TIME. BUT NOW, I AM BRINGING THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE THIRD TIME FOR THE SAME PROBLEM ON 12/13/06--ONE OR BOTH MIRRORS WILL NOT HOLD THEIR MEMORY AND I HAVE TO READJUST THEM. THE DEALERSHIP IS LOST AS TO HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THIS AS A PREVALENT PROBLEM, ALTHOUGH I HAVE PRINTED OUT NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE MIRRORS FOUND ON-LINE FROM CONSUMERS. I AM NOT SURE IF THE PROBLEM IS COMPUTER RELATED OR PARTS RELATED, BUT OBVIOUSLY REPLACING PARTS (THE ACTUATORS) DID NOT PERMANENTLY FIX THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN YOU EXPECT YOUR MIRRORS TO BE IN THE CORRECT POSITION FOR LANE CHANGING AND THEY ARE NOT; IT IS ALSO AN EXTREME ANNOYANCE FOR WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A NICE SUV WITH A NICE PRICE TAG.*JB
DRIVING TO COLUMBUS, THE UPPER MOLDING AROUND THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT GOT CAUGHT BY THE AIR FLOW BENT UP THEN BROKE FREE FROM TWO ATTACHMENTS. THIS ALLOWS THE UPPER MOLDING AND BRAKE SLIGHT TO "FLAP" IN THE AIR FLOW. IF THIS HAD BROKE FREE HIT COULD HAVE HIT ANOTHER CAR BEHIND AND/OR BROKE THE REAR TAILGATE WINDOW. DID NOTICE A CREAKING SOUND WHEN OPENING TAILGATE EARLY IN THE DAY. LOOKED AND DID NOT SEE ANY PROBLEMS. *NM
I OWN 2002 TRAILBLAZER AND TWICE THE FUEL TANK HAD BROKEN AROUND THE FILLER NECK LETTING FUEL LEAK OUT. THE PROBLEM IS SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE SECOND TIME IT BROKE I REPLACED IT MY SELF AND I AM SURE IT IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. IF A OWNER HAD THIS PROBLEM IT COULD CAUSE FIRE/EXPLOSION. *NM

2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE KEY HAS BEEN TURNED COMPLETELY IN THE IGNITION, A FAST, CONTINUOUS CLICKING NOISE WILL START. (KIND OF SOUNDS LIKE A DETONATION DEVICE) SOUNDS LIKE IT IS COMING FROM SOMEWHERE IN THE DASH. RELAY SENSOR? OVERHEAD LIGHTS TURN ON AND OFF WITHOUT PROMPTING. WHILE DRIVING, THE INSIDE LIGHTS FLICKER ON AND OF. WHEN CAR IS PARKED AND OFF, INSIDE OVERHEAD LIGHTS ARE OFF - SEVERAL HOURS LATER, RETURN TO FIND INSIDE OVERHEAD LIGHT(S) ON - CAR WAS LOCKED. FAST CLICKING NOISE IS MADE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER SETTING IS CHANGED FROM ONE SETTING TO ANOTHER. IN EXAMPLE: CLICKING NOISE WILL START WHEN YOU TURN THE DIAL TO CHANGE FROM FEET AND MID BODY AIR, TO FEET AIR ONLY. *JB
TRAILBLAZER ROLLED ON STRAIGHT ROAD. VEHICLE HAD SIDE AND FRONT AIR BAGS THAT DID NOT OPERATE AS VEHICLE CRASHED. ONLY PROTECTION OFFERED WAS THE SEAT BELT. MAY HAVE HAD ONLY MINOR INJURY IF EQUIPMENT OPERATED BUT MY WIFE WAS BADLY HURT. *JB
2002 CHEVROLET ELECTRONIC CLUTCH FAN FAILURE. MANY OF THESE ELECTRONIC CLUTCH FANS ARE FAILING IN OUR AREA. IMO, DUE TO HIGH HEAT CAUSING O-RING SEAL FAILURE AND LOSS OF SILICON LUBRICANT. IMO, PART IS NOT WELL ENOUGH BUILT TO WITHSTAND SW HEAT. *NM
IN AUG. OF THIS YEAR I WAS DRIVING WITH MY FRIEND IN THE BACK SEAT WHEN I MADE A TURN THE LEFT REAR DOOR OPENED. I PULLED OVER TO CLOSE IT , DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. ABOUT ONE YEAR AGO SAME PROBLEM. PAID DEALER TO FIX SAME LATCH. OCT 2005 GM RECALLED ONLY EXT. VERSIONS OF 2002 TRAILBLAZER. I HAVE A REG. TRAILBLAZER. DOOR CANNOT BE USED BECAUSE IT WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HAVING A LIGHT BULB CHANGED AT THE DEALERSHIP, A RECALL WAS FOUND ON THE WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER, #04V046000. ALTHOUGH NO PROBLEMS WERE REPORTED, THE DEALER INSPECTED THE PART. AFTER THE INSPECTION THE WIPER/WASHER WOULD TURN ON AND OFF ON ITS OWN INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER. UPDATED 10/16/2006 - THE WIPER COVER SHORTED AND THE SWITCH HAD AN OPEN CIRCUIT. *NM

MY 2002 TRAILBLAZER TRANSMISSION COOLER LINE FAILED WHEN WE WENT TO REPLACE IT WE WERE TOLD THAT BOTH LINES HAD TO BE REPLACED ( ONLY 1 WAS BAD) BECAUSE GM REDESIGNED THIS PART IF THE PART WAS REDESIGNED THEN THEY MUST HAVE REALIZED A MISTAKE AND THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. WE WERE LUCKY WE NOTICED OURS LEAKING WHEN WE DID. WE SAW SMOKE AND STOPPED BEFORE A FIRE. NOW WAITING ON PARTS TO FIX, DEALER ITEM ONLY AND NOT IN STOCK. 2002 TRAILBLAZER WAS RUNNING BAD AROUND 34000 MILES. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD TO FIX THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND REPROGRAM THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE TRANSFER CASE. ALL REPAIRS WERE UNDER WARRANTY. I AM NOW HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AT 70000 MILES. DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ABOUT $2000 TO FIX THE PROBLEMS. HAVE TALKED TO SEVERAL OTHER TRAIL BLAZER OWNERS AND MECHANICS AND IT SEEMS THAT GM HAS A LOT OF PROBLEMS LIKE THIS, BUT WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS DIMMED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE DIMMER SWITCH FAILED. AS OCTOBER 3, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS ALSO FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING: BRAKE LIGHTS (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V527000), HOWEVER, THE DEALER REFUSED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
I BROUGHT MY EXTENDED 2002 TRAILBLAZER IN TO THE DEALER FOR A RECALL ON THE REAR DOORS, A SEAL FOR THE BOTTOM. I THINK IT WAS FOR THE DOOR LATCH RUSTING OUT AND FLYING OPEN WHILE YOUR DRIVING. I TOLD THEM TO CHECK THE ABS BECAUSE THE WARNING LIGHT WAS ON. THEY SUPPOSEDLY CHECKED IT OUT AND TOLD ME THAT THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE HUB WAS VERY WOBBLY AND IT CAUSED THE SENSOR TO GO BAD. ME BEING A MECHANIC ALSO, DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO MY TRUSTED GARAGE AND TOLD THEM TO REPLACE THE HUB. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 45000 MILES ON IT AND I DIDN'T THINK THAT THIS PART SHOULD HAVE GONE BAD. SO I LEFT IT AT THE GARAGE AND ABOUT AN HR LATER I GOT A CALL FROM THEM SAYING THAT NOT ONLY THE HUB BUT BOTH LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE BAD, DRIVERS SIDE CONTROL ARM JOINT WAS READY TO FALL OFF, THIS STEERS THE WHEEL! AND THE BRAKE PADS THAT I JUST PUT ON ABOUT A YR AGO ARE WORN AT AN ANGLE. NOW MIND YOU, I JUST HAD THIS VEHICLE INSPECTED A YR AGO AND IT WAS FINE. ITS PRETTY EMBARRASSING TO HAVE AN ALMOST NEW VEHICLE GO IN THE SHOP AND NEED THE FRONT END REBUILT. THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO BECAUSE THE FRONT WHEEL COULD HAVE BROKEN OFF WHILE DRIVING. ALSO I HAVE A LIST OF WARRANTY WORK THAT WAS DONE ON THIS VEHICLE ABOUT A MILE LONG. NOW I HAVE TO SPEND OVER $1000 TO GET MY VEHICLE BACK ON THE ROAD. THIS JUST ISN'T RIGHT! CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON MY 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER (86,000 MILES). TEAM CHEVROLET ANALYZED AND ADVISED THE GAS TANK IS CRACKED. THIS SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AT 12,000 MILES BUT WAS REPAIRED FOR FREE AS VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE WAS AN ALERT ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE ALERT "POLICY" RAN OUT AT 70,000 MILES SO THE DEALERSHIP, NOR GM WILL COVER THE ESTIMATED EXPENSES OF $850. I PROTESTED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN AND REPEATED PROBLEM AND A FIRE/SAFETY ISSUE BUT THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO ASSIST IN ANY WAY. *JB
WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT MY 2002 TRAILBLAZER, THE FAN CLUTCH WOULD OCCASIONALLY BE FULLY ENGAGED WHEN I STARTED THE TRUCK IN THE MORNING. IT USUALLY RESUMED NORMAL FUNCTION WITHIN A MILE OR SO. AS OF YESTERDAY, IT WILL NOT DISENGAGE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE LABOR TO REPLACE THIS CLUTCH IS VERY HIGH. I'M NOT SURE IF I DARE TACKLE THIS MYSELF, BUT THE THOUGHT OF PAYING $700 TO REPLACE SOMETHING THAT SHOULDN'T FAIL AT 47,000 MILES IS DISGUSTING. *NM
A/C IS RUNNING OK THEN, IT STARTS BLOWING WARM AIR. OUTSIDE TEMP DISPLAY DROPS QUICKLY UNTIL IT REACHES +28 DEG.F. (NOTE THAT OUTSIDE TEMP IS +85 DEG.F.) OUTSIDE TEMP DISPLAY STARTS RISING SLOWLY. WHEN CROSSES +30 DEG.F, A/C STARTS BLOWING COLD AIR AGAIN. OUTSIDE TEMP DISPLAY THEN STICKS AT +50 DEG.F AND DOES NOT GO ANY HIGHER. *NM
THERE IS A LOUD ROARING SOUND FROM UNDER THE HOOD. (SOUNDS LIKE A JET ENGINE.) VEHICLE DEALER SAYS THAT VEHICLE HAS A BAD COOLING FAN CLUTCH AND THAT THE RELATED COMPUTER SOFTWARE NEEDS REPROGRAMMING. THIS LOUD NOISE PROBLEM USED TO ONLY HAPPEN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS COLD AND WOULD GO AWAY AFTER ABOUT A HALF MILE. VEHICLE APPEARS NOT TO SHIFT PROPERLY (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ACCELERATE WELL WHILE THIS LOUD SOUND IS PRESENT. SOMETIMES NOW THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS WARMED-UP. THE LOUD NOISE GOES AWAY AFTER A SHORT WHILE. *NM

OUTSIDE TEMP DISPLAY CONTINUES DROPPING TO -34 DEG.F. AFTER ~5 MINUTES, OUTSIDE TEMP DISPLAY STARTS RISING. WHEN TEMP DISPLAY PASSES +25 DEG.F, A/C STARTS PRODUCING COLD AIR AGAIN. OUTSIDE TEMP DISPLAY REACHES CORRECT OUTSIDE TEMP. OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY (I.E., ONCE OR TWICE A DAY -- OR NOT). *NM
FAN CLUTCH HAS/IS FAILING. HANGS AND DOESN'T ALWAYS RELEASE EVEN IF VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING FOR DAYS. NO 'LOGIC' AS TO WHEN IT CHOOSES TO DISENGAGE. NO ENGINE FAULT LIGHT. IS AS LIKELY TO BE FULLY ENGAGED ON A COLD MORNING AS A HOT DAY. AFFECTS MILEAGE AND BY INFERENCE EMISSIONS. THIS IS A CHRONIC TRAILBLAZER PROBLEM PER MY MECHANIC AND WEB COMPLAINT EVIDENCE. *NM

THE AUTO MECHANIC I TOOK IT TO SEVERAL TIMES SAID IT WOULD COST HUNDREDS TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH FAN TO SEE IF THIS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM POSSIBLY MORE AND IT IS USING WAY TOO MUCH GAS NOW. *JB
