DURING FOUR CONSECUTIVE OIL CHANGES, IT WAS NOTED THAT A BRAKE LIGHT WAS OUT. *NM
DT: REAR DEFROSTER WAS LOOKED AT WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND CONSUMER WAS TOLD IT WAS ALRIGHT, BUT WHEN CONSUMER USED IT, IT WOULD NOT WORK. NOW VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND CONSUMER WAS TOLD, BY THE DEALER, CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. MANUFACTURER SAID TO TALK TO ZONE MAN WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND IT IS CONSUMER'S PROBLEM. *TT
VEHICLE LOSES POWER WITHOUT WARNING AND CAUSES DANGER TO OCCUPANTS AND ONCOMING TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE IS IN MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY AND HAS BEEN IN SHOP SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO IDEA WHATS CAUSING PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP COMPLETELY. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND REPLACED IT. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK .....COMING OFF THE ROAD AT 20 MPH BRAKES WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR ANOTHER VEHICLE WENT TO THE LEFT LANE TO PREVENT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE FROM HITTING HIM. WHEN BRINGING VEHICLE TO SERVICE CENTER WAS TOLD THERE WA SNOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. ON EOF THE WHEELS CAME OFF ON THE HIGHWAY.*AK
I HAVE A 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. IN RECENT MONTHS IT HAS SUDDENLY STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES, ON STREET DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, AND AT HIGHWAY DRIVING AT ABOUT 65 MPH. DURING THE HIGHWAY STALL THE CAR LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKING CONTROL AND WAS FORTUNATELY STEERED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WITH GREAT PHYSICAL EFFORT SINCE THE POWER STEERING WAS LOST. THE STALL CAUSES AN ABRUPT STOP OF THE CAR WITHOUT WARNING. I HAVE HAD THE CAR IN FOR TESTING AND REPAIR AT ROMANO CHEVEROLET IN SYRACUSE, NY AS WELL AS CURRY CHEVEROLET IN SCARSDALE, NY. NEITHER SHOP HAS BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE PROBLEM SINCE THE CAR'S COMPUTER IS NOT REGISTERING THE STALLS. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER SEVERAL WEEKS AGO BUT THE CAR SUDDENLY STALLED ON ME IN NORMAL STREET DRIVING AT 30 MPH A FEW DAYS LATER. I HAVE SPOKEN TO CHEVEROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAY THEY ARE "INVESTIGATING" THE PROBLEM. I HAVE SENT COPIES OF NHTSA SERVICE BULLETINS ON THIS CAR TO CURRY CHEVEROLET BUT THEY CLAIM THEY ARE NOT APPLICABLE. THE SERVICE BULLETINS CLEARLY STATE THAT THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH STALLING DUE TO AN ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING PROBLEM, BUT CURRY CHEVEROLET CLAIMS THAT MY ENGINE IS FINE AND THAT THE NHTSA SERVICE BULLETINS DO NOT APPLY TO MY CAR. HOWEVER, THEY CAN'T FIX IT. I HAVE SUGGESTED TO CURRY CEHVEROLET THAT THE CAR COMPUTER IS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDS REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT SINCE IT HAS NOT REGISTERED THE NUMEROUS STALLS. HOWEVER, THEY CLAIM THAT THE COMPUTER IS FINE, EVEN THOUGH IT IS NOT REGISTERING THE STALLS AND WHAT THEY ARE CAUSED BY. THE PEOPLE I HAVE SPOKEN TO AT CURRY CHEVEROLET ARE THE DEALERSHIP MANAGER, MR. CONTE, AND THE REPAIR SHOP MANAGER, DENNIS. I HAVE SPOKEN TO DUANE COX AT CHEVEROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND HIS MANAGER MS. PATRICIA FREY. MR. COX'S PHONE NUMBER IS 866-952-4368, EXTENSION 57020. MS. FREY SAID I COULD REACH HER VIA MR. DRIVING DOWN A HILL AND VEHICLE STRTED TO HOP AND ALL OF A SUDDENLY PULLED HARD TO THE RIGHT. I REGAINED CONTROL BEFORE CRASHING INTO A GUARDRAIL. TOOK VEHICLE TO MECHANIC AND WAS TOL REAR FACING BOLT ON UPPER CONTROL ARM WAS MISSING AND HOLE WAS ELONGATED.*AK
LEFT BRAKE LIGHT DOES NOT WORK, EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE BULB WITH A NEW BULB.*AK
WHILE DRIVING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A GARAGE FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE COMPUTER SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND REPLACED IT HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
2002 TRAILBLAZER - REAR BRAKE LIGHTS BURNING OUT - HAD LEFT SIDE REPLACED UNDER WARRENTY BY GM DEALERSHIP (CIRCUIT BOARD WHERE LIGHTS PLUG IN BURNT OUT) BACK IN FEB. 2004 -- DROPPING TRUCK OFF AGAIN AT DEALERSHIP FOR SAME PROBLEM WITH THE THE RIGHT SIDE BRAKE LIGHTS -- WENT THROUGH 12 BULBS SINCE JAN. 2004 - GOT STOPPED BY POLICE FOR BRAKE LIGHTS OUT. ALSO EXPERIENCING PROBLEM WITH FRONT END MAKING NOISE WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS AND PASSAGER SIDE SEAT BELT LOCKS UP FOR NO REASON - DEALERSHIP ORDERED NEW ONE BACK IN FEB. 2004 AND STILL WAITING FOR IT - SEE WHAT HAPPENS TOMORROW WHEN I BRING IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP FOR THESE ABOVE PROBLEMS. *AK
FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT SHOULDER RESTRAINT DID NOT LOCK (RETRACTOR) WHEN VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN REAR END COLLISION WITH A TRACTOR TRAILER AT 45 MPH. ALSO, NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. *AK CW

THE LUGS:NUTS WORE OUT PREMATURELY. CONSUMER HAD ALL FOUR T LUGS: NUTS REPLACED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED. *AK
1ST THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACE, THEN THE TRANSMISSION PUMP AND NOT THE KEEPS STALLING,AND ONE LAST ITEM THE TRAILBLAZER RPM GOES UP AND DOWN WHILE I'M DRIVING DON'T KNOW WHY. *LA
RIGHT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT SHORTED AND BRIEF FIRE WITHIN HEADLAMP.*AK
TAIL LIGHTS FAILED. TAIL LIGHTS REPAIRED FOUR TIMES. HOWEVER THE PROBLEM RECURRED. DEALER STATED THE CIRCUIT BOX MAFUNCTIONED. *AK
FOR 2 YEARS NOW I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH BOTH OF MY TAIL LIGHTS NOT OPERATING DEALER REPLACED CIRCUIT BOARDS 2X AND THAT STILL HAS NOT SOLVED PROBLEM. *AK
THE CLUTCH FAN ON OUR CHEVROLET 2002 TRAILBLAZER WENT OUT AND THE FAN STAYED ON. IT RESULTED IN REDUCED ENGINE POWER BECAUSE THE FAN WAS PULLING SO MUCH POWER FROM THE MOTOR. WHEN OUR MECHANIC CALLED FOR PARTS, THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP HAD 15 ON STOCK. APPARENTLY CHEVY IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT HAS NOT RECALLED IT.*AK
MY VEHICLE HAS A SQUEEK SOUND IN IT. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED EVERYTHING POSSIBLE UNDER THE VEHICLE AND IS NOW AT A LOSS AS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE. I AM WONDERING WHAT MY NEXT STEP IS TO DO. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. IT HAS BEEN TO THE SHOP A DOZEN TIMES OR SO FOR THIS.
I HAD A FLAT TIRE. IT TOOK THE AAA PERSON 45 MINUTES TO REMOVE THE SPARE TIRE. HE INDICATED THAT THE NUT WAS RUSTED (THE VEHICLE IS A 2002 TRAILBLAZER) AND THEREFORE "STUCK"/UNREMOVABLE. IT TOOK SEVERAL TRIES AND HE HAD TO PUT IT BACK SEVERAL TIMES AFTER TRYING TO FORCE IT OUT. I OBVIOUSLY WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CHANGE MY TIRE MYSELF.*AK
INTERMITTENTLY WHEN TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START PROPERLY. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED, AFTER A FEW SECONDS THE VEHICLE WOULD RESTART AS IF NOTHING HAD EVER HAPPENED. THE STARTING PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN SEVEN TIMES. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THEN THE VEHICLE STALLED. THIS CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, HITTING A WALL. THE CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. THE DEALERSHIP TRIED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE 7 TIMES, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE AIR BAG ALSO FAILED TO DEPLOY DURING THE ACCIDENT. *AK THE PCM FAILED DUE TO A CIRCUIT INSIDE, FLUID LEAKED FROM THE POWER STEERING HOSE, THE ENGINE REVVED HIGH AND WAS LOUD WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE CONSUMER SAW SPARKS UNDER THE HOOD FUSE BLOCK AT THE SAME TIME THE GAUGES FLUCTUATED AND SHORTED, THE RIGHT REAR TAIL LIGHTS WERE INOPERATIVE, AND THE FUEL GAUGE MADE A WHIRRING SOUND WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. *SC *JB *CB
WE HAVE A 2002 CHEV. TRAILBLAZER EXT. THIS VEHICLE'S CRUISE CONTROL CUTS OUT WHILE IT IS SET. IT HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES - TOO MANY TO COUNT - AND AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS DEPENDING ON THE STATE AND SPEED LIMIT. THE CRUISE LIGHT DOES GO ON WHEN IT IS ORIGINALLY SET BUT GOES OFF AT RANDOM AND WITH TRUCK TRAFFIC BEHIND YOU IT IS NOT A PLACE WHERE YOU WANT TO BE SLOWING DOWN AND NOT REALIZING IT IMMEDIATELY.*AK
THIS PROBLEM CONCERNS A REPEATED LIGHTING SYSTEMS FAILURE. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN I WAS NOTIFIED BY ANOTHER MOTORIST THAT WHEN I HAD THE BRAKES ON WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT THAT BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT TAIL STOP LAMPS WERE NOT LIT ALTHOUGH THE CENTER HIGH MOUNTED STOP LAMP DID LIGHT TO INDICATE THE BRAKES WERE ON. I HAD HAD TO HAVE BOTH OF THESE LAMPS REPLACED ONLY ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO WHEN THEY BOTH BURNED OUT WITHIN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, PERHAPS SIMULTANEOUSLY AS THEY MIGHT HAVE LAST WEEK. AFTER THE INCIDENT LAST WEEK I PUT IN NEW BULBS BUT, UNLIKE THE FIRST INCIDENT 3 MONTHS AGO, THE LAMPS WOULD NOT LIGHT PROPERLY WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. I WILL NOTIFY THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEXT WEEK WHEN THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS OPEN AGAIN THAT THIS PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE NEEDS ATTENTION.*AK
THE DRIVER-SIDE BRAKE LIGHT BULB REPEATEDLY BURNS OUT (3 TIMES IN AS MANY WEEKS). APPEARS THAT THE BULB DOESN'T MAKE A SNUG FIT IN THE SOCKET. I FOUND A TSB FROM GM REGARDING THIS. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM UNDER WARRANTY (48K MILES). I PURCHASED THE REPLACEMENT PARTS LISTED IN THE TSB, REPLACING THE BOARD, WHICH RESULTED IN A SNUG FIT BETWEEN BULB AND SOCKET. NO ISSUES SINCE. THIS IS PROBABLY RELATED TO DEFECT INVESTIGATION PE04032. THIS IS ON A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER LT WITH 2WD AND I6 ENGINE.
STOP LIGHT AND REAR TURN SIGNAL LIGHT SOCKETS ARE DEFECTIVE IN THAT THESE LIGHTS CEASE WORKING. WHEN I GO TO CHANGE THE BULB, THE BULB IS OK. AFTER CLEANING CONTACTS, BENDING CONTACTS AND "FIDDLING" WITH THE LIGHT BULB AND SOCKET, THE LIGHT WILL WORK AGAIN, ONLY TO FAIL IN 2-3 MONTHS. THIS HAS OCCURRED 5-6 TIMES SINCE PURCHASE OF A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAIBLAZER IN THE FALL OF 2001. *AK
BRAKE LIGHTS ON CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZERS ARE CONTINUOUSLY GOING OUT. EVERY SINGLE TRAILBLAZER I SEE ON THE ROAD THAT IS NOT BRAND NEW HAS EITHER ONE BRAKE LIGHT MISSING OR BOTH. WENT TO DEALERSHIP TO QUESTION IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS INCIDENT AND SAID NO, BUT HAS TO REPLACE CIRCUIT BOARDS ON MODELS OF TRAILBLAZERS. THIS IS NOT FAIR IF THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER BRAND NEW AND WITHOUT A WARRANTY. THIS DEFECT SHOULD NOT BE AT THE COST OF THE OWNER FOR A DEFECT OF THIS CALIBER. THIS IS DANGEROUS TO OTHER DRIVERS IF THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO SEE THE VEHICLE BRAKING IN FRONT OF THEM. *LA
I HAVE HAD MY TRAILBLAZER FOR 6 MONTHS (SINCE 9-29-03). I BOUGHT IT USED AND HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO GET THINGS THAT HAVE GONE WRONG WITH IT CHECKED. I BOUGHT THE 3/36,000 WARRANTY AND HAVE NOT BENEFITED FROM IT. I HAVE READ THAT THERE WAS RECALL ON THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM BRACKETS, WHICH MAY FRACTURE. I TOOK IT IN BECAUSE I WAS HEARING A NOISE WHEN I TURNED. THEY TOLD ME WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND I DROVE IT FOR ANOTHER MONTH WHILE THE PARTS WERE BEING ORDERED AND THE OK FROM GM TO COVER THIS REPAIR. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF THE TAIL LIGHTS TO KEEP BURNING OUT AND FAILING. I HAVE RECEIVED MANY WARNINGS FROM LEGAL AUTHORITIES AND MY RESPONSE IS THAT I DID NOT KNOW AND HAVE JUST GOTTEN IT FIXED. I ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE DYING WHILE DRIVING, IDLING, OR ACCELERATING. DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THEY ARE "TRYING TO REPRODUCE THE SITUATION" BUT CANNOT. I KNOW THAT IT HAPPENNED, JUST FIX IT. I HAVE TRIED TO TRADE IT IN, BUT OWE TOO MUCH STILL AND I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH GM AND THEIR APPROVED DEALERSHIP. *AK
2002 TRAILBLAZER HAS AIR CONDITIONER PROBLEMS. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS PROBLEM SURFACE. IT WOULD PRODUCE HOT AIR WHEN THE OUTSIDE AIR TEMP IS @MID 80'S AND THE VENTS ARE PRODUCING EXTREMELY HOT AIR WHEN THE TEMP SELECTED (AUTO) TO 74 AND THIS TIME THE DRIVER AIR WORKS FINE BUT EXTREMELY HOT AIR IS COMING OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE. DOES NOT MATTER WHAT SETTINGS ARE SELECTED. DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THE TRAILBLAZER AIR CONDITIONER. SOMETHING WITH THE SENSOR. *NM
WHILE REVERSING GRADUALLY CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A MINOR COLLISION. THE OTHER VEHICLE ONLY SUSTAINED A SCRATCH WHILE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE REAR END BUMPER WAS SMASHED UP . CONSUMER FELT THAT REAR BUMPER WAS NOT STURDY ENOUGH. *AK
THIS IS MY THIRD COMPLAINT IN 3 MONTHS. THIS MORNING, I SHIFTED FROM 2HI TO 4HI DUE TO ICE, SNOW AND SLIPPERY CONDITIONS. I STOPPED AT A SHOP AND SHUT OFF MY ENGINE. I RETURNED, STARTED THE VEHICLE AND PULLED INTO THE STREET. THE LIGHTS ON THE TRANSFER CASE DIAL WENT BLACK AND THE VEHICLE REVERTED TO 2HI. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME IN THREE MONTHS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. MY LOCAL DEALER HAS BEEN VERY GOOD AT TRYING TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER, GM ITSELF IS OF LITTLE ASSISTANCE BEYOND "HOPING" THAT NOTHING MORE SERIOUS HAPPENS. THE REAT QUESTION IS WHETHER THE NHTSA WILL NOW DO ANYTHING AS A RESULT OF THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON ITS WEBPAGE. *AK
FOUND BOTH MAIN BRAKE LIGHTS INOPERABLE AT THE SAME TIME. BOTH BULBS NEEDED REPLACEMENT AFTER JUST 2 YEARS. BULBS ALSO LOOSE IN SOCKETS LEADING TO INTERMITTENT OPERATION AND PROBABLE SHORTENED BULB LIFE. ALSO NOTEWORTHY: 9 OUT OF 10 SUV/PICKUP TRUCKS THAT I SEE WITH INOPERABLE TAIL/DRIVING LIGHTS ARE RECENT MODEL GM PRODUCTS.
THE CONSUMER HAS HAD THE GAS TANK REPLACED TWICE. BOTH TIMES THE TANK CRACKED. FIRST CRACK OCCURRED AT A SEAM, AND THE SECOND CRACK OCCURRED AT THE FILLER NECK. HE SMELLED GAS INSIDE HIS GARAGE AND SAW GASOLINE DRIPPING ONTO THE FLOOR. THE SERVICE SOON LIGHT COMES ON. THE SERVICE SOON LIGHT IS ON AGAIN, AND THE TANK IS BEING REPLACED. THERE WAS NO REPAIR ON THE FUEL TANK OR REMOVAL OF THE FUEL TANK PRIOR TO THESE INCIDENTS.
WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH AND WITHOUT WARNING VEHICLE SKIDDED ON BLACK ICE. DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES, AND PEDAL WENT THE FLOOR. DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT A TREE. UPON IMPACT, BOTH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES, AND WERE TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK
I BACKED OUT OF A PARKING PLACE'PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND IT LUNGED FORWARD AS IF THE ACCELARATOR WAS PUSHED TO THE FLOOR.I HIT A LIGHT POLE AND THE CAR STOPPED.*AK
TAIL LIGHTS BURNING OUT. *AK
I BOUGHT A NEW 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER IN JANUARY 2002. WHEN I REACHED 50,000 MILES IN 2004, REVERSE AND 4TH GEAR SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. I HAD THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT AND SUN GEAR REPLACED AT AAMCO OF CHARLOTTESVILLE. NOW I TOOK, AT 99,000 MILES, IT IN FOR A FLUID CHANGE AND WAS TOLD THE FLUID LOOKED BAD AND THEY WERE CONCERNED I MIGHT HAVE MORE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. TRANSMISSION REBUILT SHOULD NOT BE NEEDED EVERY 50,000MILES. I DO MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES, AND VERY RARELY TOW ANYTHING. *TR
ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP BUT DEALERSHIP INDICATED THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT COMPONENT FAILURE CAUSED THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT TO COME ON. DEALERSHIP SERVICED THE VEHICLE AND THE CONSUMER PICKED IT UP. THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME BACK ON WITHIN 2 WEEKS. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN THE CONSUMER PICKED THE VEHICLE UP THERE WAS A CLANGING NOISE WHILE DRIVING.*AK
TRAILBLAZER SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON, ENGINE REVING, SEEMS TO BE FAN CLUTCH STUCK IN HIGH SPEED, CAUSES POOR ACCELERATION, POOR GAS MILEAGE, AND COSTS OVER 500 DOLLARS TO REPAIR. DUE TO THE HIGH COST OF THIS REPAIR, I AM FORCED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE UNTIL I CAN COME UP WITH THE MONEY TO REPAIR IT. HOPEFULLY IT WILL NOT DAMAGE ANY OTHER PARTS IN THE MEAN TIME. FEB. 04 46,000 MILES REPAIRED TRANSMISSION, 2ND GEAR AND REVERSE BROKEN, WAS TOLD BY A GM TRANSMISSION REPAIRMAN THAT THIS IS VERY COMMON PROBLEM, SOMETIMES IT TAKES JUST ONE FIX, SOME TRAILBLAZERS HAVE REQUIRED MANY REPAIRS (ALSO PROBLEM ON ENVOY), BEING A STRAIGHT 6, THE TRANSMISSION CANNOT HANDLE THE TORQUE CAUSING THE GEARS IN THE TRANSMISSION TO BREAK; VEHICLE CUT OFF ON ME AT A RED LIGHT FOR UNKNOWN REASON; DASH GAUGES AND RADIO WOULD NOT COME ON WHEN CAR STARTED, DROVE FOR A FEW MILES, CUT CAR OFF, RESTARTED AND ALL CAME BACK ON;RADIO FACING BECOMES EXTREMELY HOT TO TOUCH AT TIMES AND FLICKERS ON AND OFF; OBNOXIOUS SQUEAK IN THE FRONT END OF CAR, TAKEN TO MECHANICS WITH NO REASON WHY; TICKING NOISE WHILE RUNNING; OTHER THAN THE TRANSMISSION, NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN DUE TO READING THE FILED COMPLAINTS OF OTHERS WITH NO REAL SUCCESSFUL RESULTS OR ANSWERS FROM DEALERS. ONGOING BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE ON '02 CHEV TRAILBLAZER. IN THE LAST YEAR OR MORE, I REPLACED THE DRIVER-SIDE BRAKE LIGHT BULB FOUR TIMES AND ONCE FOR THE BACK-UP BULB. MOST TIMES THE BULB LOOKS FINE BUT I REPLACE ANYWAY. SOMETIMES THE BRAKE LIGHT WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. ACCORDING TO CHEV PARTS DEALER, THE SOCKETS ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD GETS CORRODED AND CAUSES A SHORT, SO I REPLACED THE "CIRCUIT" BOARD (OUT OF POCKET COSTS) ON 2/14/04 BUT THE BRAKE LIGHT STILL DOESN'T LIGHT UP. I LOVED DRIVING THE VEHICLE BUT THIS COULD BE A DEAL- KILLER FOR GM IN THE FUTURE. MY BRAKES FAILED TO WORK WHEN APPROACHING A STOP SIGN.*AK
MY 2002 TRAILBLAZER BEGAN LEAKING GAS AROUND THE FUEL FILTER CONNECTION. MY GUESS IS A RATE OF AROUND 5 GALLONS IN 20 MINUTES. VEHICLE KEPT RUNNING. VEHICLE HAS A RECALL ON THIS WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 02V121000. I BELIEIVE I HAD THIS RECALL 02016 - FUEL FILTER CONNECT PERFORMED BY HENDRICK PONTIAC BUICK ON 6/4/02 . THE RECALL HAS THE FOLLOWING DECRIPTION ON THE NHTSA DATABASE: ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, A FUEL FILTER FITTING CAN BECOME DISCONNECTED. IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE ENGINE, A NO-START CONDITION WOULD RESULT AND FUEL WOULD BE PUMPED OUT THE FUEL FILTER ONTO THE GROUND. IF THE FITTING BECOMES DISCONNECTED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, THE ENGINE WOULD STOP DUE TO INADEQUATE FUEL SUPPLY AND CAUSE A LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST. IF AN IGNITION SOURCE WERE PRESENT, FUEL LEAKAGE FROM A DISCONNECTED FUEL FILTER FITTING COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL FILTER QUICK CONNECT RETAINERS. I EXAMINED THE FILTER CONNECT AND FOUND THE SNAP-ON PART OF THE FILTER WAS NOT SNAPPED INTO THE HOLES IN THE HOSE CONNECTION. THE SNAP WAS ACTUALLY ROTATED ABOUT 90 DEGREES. THIS WAS NOT HOLDING THE HOSE IN ALL THE WAY BUT JUST ENOUGH TO CAUSE A MAJOR GAS LEAK AND TO SEND GAS TO THE ENGINE. I BELIEVE THE FUEL FILTER CONNECTS ARE A BAD DESIGN. 1 OF 3 THINGS WENT WRONG. 1) THE RECALL WAS NEVER PERFORMED EVEN THOUGH THE SERVICE PAPERWORK SAID IT WAS. GM NEEDS TO REPLACE THE CONNECTORS BECAUSE THEY ARE POORLY DESIGNED AND CAN CAUSE A FIRE/EXPLOSION. 2) A CERTIFIED GM TECHNICIAN INSTALLED THE CONNECTION TO THE FILTER IMPROPERLY. THE CONNECTION SHOULD BE DESIGNED SO THAT IT AUTOMATICALLY ALIGNS ITSELF TO THE SNAP OR DOES NOT SLIDE ON. THIS IS NOT A TECHNICIAN PROBLEM, IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DESIGN OF THE SNAP CONNECTIONS. 3) THE CONNECTION WORKED ITSELF WORKED LOOSE OVER TIME WITH THE REGULAR BUMPS OF EVERYDAY DRIVING. IN THIS CASE, IT IS ALSO A PROBLEM WITH THE DESIGN OF THE SNAP CONNECTION.
I OWN A 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT SINCE IT WAS BOUGHT. IT'S BEEN IN THE SHOP A TOTAL OF 7 TIMES. THREE OF THE TIMES IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP WITH DRIVE TRAIN PROBLEMS, TWO TIMES FOR U-JOINTS AND ONCE FOR A BEARING TO THE DRIVESHAFT. ANOTHER TWO TIMES THE VEHICLE JUST STOPPED AND THE TRANSMISSION COULD NOT BE SHIFTED INTO GEAR. NOW AFTER 43,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE AND SINCE THE WARRANTY IS ONLY FOR 36,000 MILES IT IS NOW GOING TO COST $2800.00 TO REPAIR IT. I FEEL THAT A TRANSMISSION IN A CAR THAT IS ONLY A YEAR AND A HALF OLD SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED SINCE ALL THE MAINTENANCE SINCE THE CAR WAS BOUGHT WAS DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE ALSO NEVER RECEIVED AND OF THE RECALL NOTICES I HAVE READ ABOUT ON THIS VEHICLE. THE BOTTOM LINE IS A TRANSMISSION SHOULD LAST A LITTLE LONGER THAN 43,000 MILES. *JB

I HAVE A 2002 TRAILBLAZER WITH MULTIPLE TAILLIGHT / BRAKE LIGHT FAILURES. THE DEALERSHIP HAS RESOLVED MY PROBLEM, HOWEVER I THOUGHT THIS INFORMATION MIGHT BE HELPFUL TO YOUR OPEN INVESTIGATION. IN NOVEMBER 03 MY BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED AND MY DEALERSHIP "REPLACED THE BULBS" UNDER MY THEN EXISTING WARRANTY. AGAIN, IN JANUARY, THEY FAILED AGAIN AND I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO HAVE THE "BULBS" REPLACED. WHILE SITTING AT THE COUNTER, I WAS SPEAKING TO A MAN BEHIND THE PARTS COUNTER AND EXPLAINING MY PROBLEM TO HIM. I HADN'T FINISHED EXPLAINING WHEN HE TOLD ME I MUST HAVE A TRAILBLAZER. SUN SHELL STRIPPED IN TRANSMISSION CAUSING NEAR FATAL ACCIDENT IN INTERSECTION IN FT.MYERS,FL.CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE, 01/12/04. NEED COMPLETE RECALL OF THIS TRANSMISSION. I OWN A 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER (PURCHASED NEW) AND HAD THE TRANSMISSION GO OUT FOR THE 3RD TIME IN 9 MONTHS. THIS TIME THE DEALER HAS AGREED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. BUT I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THIS NEW TRANSMISSION (PER THE DEALER IT IS IN THE "REVERSE SHELL" AREA), THE SAME DEFECT WAS IN MY ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER HAS ALSO IMPLIED THAT PERHAPS THE PROBLEM HAS TO DO WITH HOW WE DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND THE WAY WE SHIFT GEARS! I STRONGLY DISAGREE. I'VE HAD SEVERAL VEHICLES OVER MY 37 YEARS OF DRIVING AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRAILBLAZER BACK IN APRIL 2002 WHEN THE SWITCH USED TO SELECT FROM 2H TO 4H TO 4L BEGAN FLASHING THE SELECTOR LIGHTS IN EACH OF THE POSITIONS. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER BUT THEY FOUND NOTHING AND SAID I WOULD HAVE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT UNTIL I GOT SOME SORT OF SOLID INDICATION. IN APRIL OF 2003 (ABOUT 14 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THE TRAILBLAZER). WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHIFTED FROM 2H TO 4H AND FINALLY TO 4L AS I BROUGHT IT TO A STOP. I HAD TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE TO GET IT OUT OF GEAR. THIS HAPPENED A SECOND TIME A FEW MINUTES LATER AND THEN QUIT. IN MAY 2003 AND IN JUNE 2003 I HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED. NOW THE TRANSMISSION HAS GONE OUT AGAIN IN JANUARY 2004. THIS TIME THEY ARE REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION BUT I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS TRANSMISSION HAS A DEFECT ( AS PREVIOUSLY DESCRIBED) IN IT. THEY ASSURE ME THAT I WON'T HAVE ANY MORE PROBLEMS AND HAVE OFFERRED A $2,000 REBATE ON A FUTURE PURCHASE. AFTER 3 TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS IN 9 MONTHS, I HAVE LITTLE FAITH IN THIS VEHICLE.*AK
