STOPPED AT A LOCAL EXXON STATION TO FILL UP WITH GAS AT 1/4 TANK LEVEL. I FILLED THE TANK TO FULL A NOW $90.00 EXPENSE. WHEN I GOT BACK IN AND STARTED MY 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER EXT, THE GAS GAUGE INDICATED AN EMPTY TANK AND THE YELLOW WARNING LIGHT STAYED ON. I DROVE FOR A FEW MILES, STOPPED TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE WITH NO INDICATED CHANGE TO THE FUEL LEVEL. I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE GAS CAP MADE A GOOD SEAL. NOTHING SEEMS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. NOW THE GAUGE JUMPS FROM FULL TO EMPTY AND ALL LEVELS IN BETWEEN WITH NO RHYME OR REASON. AFTER SEEING HOW MANY PEOPLE AT HTTP://WWW.TOPIX.COM/FORUM/AUTOS/CHEVROLET-TRAILBLAZER/TH8JI6TEPO3VRJI3D ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM; I BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD BE A MANDATED RECALL FOR GM. THIS HAS ALL HAPPENED WITHIN 1000 MILES OF MY MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY EXPIRATION. *TR
I OWN A 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER LS AND THE FUEL GAUGE WAS WORKING AS ADVERTISED ONE DAY THEN THE NEXT DAY THE GAUGE BEGAN TO FLUXUATE, EVENTUALLY TO STOP WORKING ALL TOGETHER. I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL FUEL CLEANERS WITH NO RESULTS. HAVE DONE TONS OF RESEARCH AND HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE ON SEVERAL GM VEHICLES. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND WAS QUOTED AT $750 TO DROP THE FUEL TANK AND REPLACE THE PUMP AND SENSOR WIRING ALL TOGETHER WITH SO MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, PLEASE FIX GM. *TR
I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS OUT OF MY 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER, BUT ALL HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY UP UNTIL THIS POINT. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE NEW WITH 18 MILES ON IT. IT IS CURRENTLY AT 42K AND I AM JUST OUTSIDE OF MY WARRANTY. I FILLED MY CAR UP TWICE THIS WEEK AND THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWED FULL AS I LEFT THE GAS STATION. BY THE TIME I GOT HOME ( APPROX 1 MILE AWAY ) THE LOW FUEL INDICATOR TURNED ON. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INDICATED THAT MY FUEL GAUGE CENSOR HAS GONE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REFUSE TO REPAIR IT FREE. THE COST IS $457.00. UNFORTUNATELY IT COSTS ME ABOUT THAT MUCH A MONTH TO KEEP THE SUCKER GASSED UP SO I CANNOT AFFORD TO 'GIVE' GM ANY MORE OF MY MONEY. I AM DRIVING IT AS IT IS AND SEARCHING FOR A CHEAPER ROUTE TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. I HAVE TO CHILDREN THAT I HAVE TO TRANSPORT AROUND AND I AM TERRIFIED THAT I WILL RUN OUT OF GAS. ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING. OIL LEVEL WAS FULL. TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER ADVISED THE MAIN ENGINE BEARINGS WENT OUT. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED NO ABUSE OR NEGLECT. GM WILL NOT REPLACE MOTOR. (2006 TRAILBLAZER). *TR
MY 2006 TRAILBLAZER HAS 50,000 MILES THE GAS GAUGE STARTED GOING FROM EMPTY TO FULL WHILE IN TRANSIT AND NOW IT JUST STAYS ON E ALL THE TIME NOW. FROM MY RESEARCH THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MOST 06 TRAILBLAZERS AND IT BEEN GOING ON FOR MORE THAN A YEAR IN THE CHEVY'S. IT COST ALMOST 800.00 AND I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO HAVE IT FIXED SO I HAVE TO USE THE TRIP METER TO KEEP TRACK OF MY GAS THROUGH MILEAGE. THIS ALL STARTED WHEN THE MILEAGE WAS ABOUT 32,000 MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING, THE AIR PUMP FAILED TO INFLATE THE AIR BAG SUSPENSION. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AUFFENBERG CHEVROLET (144 W SHAWNEE ST, MUSKOGEE, OK 74401). THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
HAVE NOTICED IN THE NEWS TWO ACCIDENTS IN WHICH A GM SUV SERIES (TRAILBLAZER/ ENVOY/RAINER) HAVE CAUGHT FIRE AFTER A FRONT END IMPACT. THE FIVE YOUNG WOMEN IN NEW YORK STATE AND THEN A STORY ON CNN IN WHICH A WOMAN WAS TRAPPED AND BURNED ALIVE OUT WEST. BOTH STORIES WERE LAST YEAR. I ASK IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OF ENGINE FIRE AFTER FRONT END COLLISIONS WITH THIS SERIES OF SUV BECAUSE I DRIVE ONE AS MY FAMILY CAR AND WOULD LIKE TO ENSURE IT IS SAFE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INCLUDING THE SPEEDOMETER, FUEL GAUGE AND OIL PRESSURE WERE INOPERABLE, CAUSING THEM TO FLUCTUATE AND NOT REMAIN AT A CONSTANT POINT. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT SPEED HE WAS TRAVELING, HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN THE VEHICLE, OR HOW MUCH OIL WAS CURRENTLY IN THE VEHICLE. ALSO THE REAR BLOWER MOTOR WAS INOPERABLE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED. THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 93,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 50,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING ON 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER, WENT ON-LINE AND SAW THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM RIGHT AFTER THEIR WARRANTY GOES OUT. *TR
ERRATIC FUEL LEVEL READINGS ON FUEL GATE. ONCE THIS STARTED IT WAS REGULAR AND WOULD READ FULL, EMPTY, PARTIALLY FULL REGARDLESS OF ACTUAL FUEL LEVEL. REPLACED FUEL PUMP MODULE AND LEVEL SENSOR. OLD PART IS NOT STILL AVAILABLE. I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE I HEARD THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION I HAD A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER EXTENDED 2WD WE HAD NO SAFETY ISSUES AS WE DISCOVERED IT WAS NOT WORKING AND MONITORED MILES DRIVEN TO PREVENT RUNNING OUT OF FUEL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE REMAINED BELOW THE FULL LEVEL EVEN WHEN THE TANK WAS FULL WITH FUEL. ADDITIONALLY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATED WHICH STARTED AROUND THE SAME TIME THAT THE FUEL GAUGE BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD SUDDENLY FAIL WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT HAVE A RESOLUTION TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND THE HEADLIGHT BULBS WERE REPLACED BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHT BULBS WERE REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 19,000.
I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. AT ABOUT 40,000 MILES, MY GAS GAUGE BEGAN NOT RESETTING COMPLETELY WHEN FILLING UP AND BEGAN WORKING SPORADICALLY. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER, IT STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER. I HAVE READ MANY MESSAGE BOARDS ONLINE AND IT SEEMS THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL SENSORS ON THE 2006 TRAILBLAZERS AND EVERYONE DESCRIBES A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE AS MINE. MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY NOW AND I CAN NOT AFFORD 800 DOLLARS TO FIX IT. I HAVE TO UTILIZE MY TRIP ODOMETER TO KNOW WHEN TO FILL UP AND SIMPLY HAVE TO GUESS ABOUT MY GAS MILEAGE. TO DATE, I HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS ONCE BECAUSE OF THIS FAULTY SENSOR, MAKING ME LATE TO WORK. IF THIS IS A RECURRENT ISSUE WITH 2006 TRAILBLAZERS, A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE LACK OF GASOLINE IN THE FUEL TANK. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED INACCURATE READINGS AT ANY FUEL LEVEL CAPACITY. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION AFTER GASOLINE WAS ADDED TO THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,200 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
AFTER HAVING MY VEHICLE FOR ONE YEAR, THE FUEL GAUGE SUDDENLY BECAME ERRATIC. WHEN FUEL WAS NEAR EMPTY, IT WOULD READ "FULL" OR "HALF FULL". THE ENGINE REPAIR LIGHT WOULD GO ON AND OFF INCONSISTENTLY DURING THE SAME TIME. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE THE QUALITY OF GASOLINE, BUT TRYING DIFFERENT BRANDS DID NOT HELP. WITHIN A FEW MONTHS, NO MATTER HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN MY TANK, THE GAUGE WOULD READ "E" FOR EMPTY, WITH THE NEEDLE NEVER MOVING FROM E. THE YELLOW LIGHT AND "DINGING" SOUND RING A LOT LETTING ME KNOW I AM SUPPOSED TO BE OUT OF FUEL, BUT AM NOT. THIS IS THE CASE EVEN WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE I HAVE TO RESET MY TRIPOMETER WHEN FILLING UP ON A NEW TANK OF GAS, SO I KNOW ABOUT 250 MILES, I NEED TO FILL UP AGAIN. IF I DON'T DO THIS, I COULD RUN OUT OF GAS, CAUSE A CRASH, OR A FATAL ACCIDENT SINCE MY GAUGE ALWAYS READS EMPTY. I HAVE READ MANY BLOG AND COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FUEL GAUGE ON THE TRAILBLAZER AND OTHER CHEVROLET VEHICLES. MINE IS A 2006 WITH CURRENTLY LESS THAN 24,000 MILES ON IT, AND AT THE TIME OF OCCURRENCE, ABOUT 21,000.00 MILES. I UNDERSTAND THE REPAIR AND PARTS WILL BE ABOUT $800.00. WHILE DRIVING ON A DIRT ROAD THAT ONLY FITS ON CAR, I WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION INVOLVING A JEEP CHEROKEE. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE FRONT DAMAGE HOWEVER, THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY NOR DID ONSTAR CONTACT ME. I HAVE VERY PAINFUL NECK, HEAD, SHOULDER, AND RIGHT ARM PAIN. *TR
I HAVE SEEN THE NEWS WHEN THE 5 HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS IN NEW YORK, MAY 2008 I BELIEVE, WERE KILLED AND THEN JUST 3-4 WEEKS AGO, OCT 2008, THE NEWS REPORTED A YOUNG MOTHER WAS KILLED OUT WEST. BOTH ACCIDENTS INVOLVED A FRONT END COLLISION AND BOTH WHERE MID-SIZE GM SUVS (CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER, GMC ENVOY, BUICK RAINER). BOTH ACCIDENTS RESULTED IN FIRES AND DEATHS. THE NEWS REPORTED THE FIRE WAS TO INTENSE TO ATTEMPT A RESCUE IN THE NEW YORK CASE. IN THE CASE OUT WEST, THE YOUNG MOTHER'S TWO CHILDREN WERE RESCUED, BUT TO THE INTENSE FIRE SHE WAS UNABLE TO BE RESCUED. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OR COMMENTS ON THIS OR IF IT WAS EVER REPORTED TO THIS AGENCY. I HAVE A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER AS MY MAIN VEHICLE AND WOULD NOT WANT IT TO HAVE SOME UNKNOWN DEFECT THAT MAY CAUSE MY OR ANY MEMBER OF MY FAMILY A LOSS OF LIFE. 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER FUEL LEVEL SENSOR HASN'T WORKED SINCE ABOUT 28,000 MILES, NOW HAS ABOUT 80,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF 2006 TRAILBLAZERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WHICH CHEVROLET (GM) KNOWS ABOUT BUT WON'T PUT OUT A RECALL SERVICE BULLETIN TO REPLACE THIS DEFAULTED PART. HERE THE TAXPAYERS BAILED GM OUT , BUT THEY WON'T TAKE CARE OF THIS HUGE PROBLEM WHERE AN OPERATOR OF THIS VEHICLE COULD RUN OUT OF FUEL AT ANY TIME NOT KNOWING HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE TANK BECAUSE IT READS EMPTY ALL OF THE TIME WITH THE LOW FUEL LIGHT ON AS WELL. WE AS TAXPAYERS CAN BAIL THEM OUT, BUT THEY WON'T TAKE CAR OF A PROBLEM THAT COULD RESULT IN DEATHS WHEN A VEHICLE RUNS OUT OF FUEL AT THE WRONG TIME, AND IN THE WRONG PLACE. IS THIS WHAT IS NEEDED BEFORE GM TAKES CARE OF THIS PROBLEM? THIS SEEMS TO BE THE CASE. ALSO WITH THIS PROBLEM IT SENDS SIGNALS THAT WON'T ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO PASS NY STATE VEHICLE INSPECTION WHEN THERE IS NOTHING ELSE WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR
VEHICLE WAS ON AND BEING DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY/FREEWAY WHEN IT SHUT OFF AND LOST POWER. VEHICLE CAME A STOP AND RESTARTED VEHICLE AND IT DID NOT START IMMEDIATELY AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS IT STARTED AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED AND I DROVE IT HOME. LUCKILY I ARRIVED HOME AND ENTERED MY DRIVEWAY AND IT SHUT OFF AGAIN AND HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO BE RESTARTED SINCE. I HAVE NOT GOTTEN ANY RESOLUTION OR HELP FROM A CHEVROLET COMPANY AND THEY CAN NOT SAY WHAT IT POSSIBLY COULD BE. THERE ARE TRAILBLAZER FORUMS ONLINE THAT STATE THE SAME BY OTHER OWNER WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME. PLEASE HELP AS I AND MY KIDS COULD HAVE BEEN HURT OR KILLED. *TR

FRIDAY EVENING I FILLED OUR BLAZER UP WITH UNLEADED GAS AND AS I DROVE HOME I NOTICE THE GAS GAGE MARKED EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON, I STOPPED TO MAKE SURE THE GAS CAP WAS ON CORRECTLY AND CONTINUED HOME. A MILE DOWN THE ROAD, A ENGINE OUTLINE CAME ON MY INSTRUMENT PANEL. PARKED THE BLAZER UNTIL MONDAY MORNING, WHEN I DROVE IT INTO TOWN TO OUR CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. AS I DROVE INTO TOWN THE GAS GAGE STARTED ON FULL AND WORKED IT WAY DOWN TO EMPTY. NOW MY BLAZER IS AT THE DEALERSHIP AND I FINE THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SOME PROBLEM. SO I SIT AND WAIT. *TR

THE GAS TANK BALL SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE AND CAUSES THE ENVIRONMENTAL LIGHT TO GO ON. THE FUEL TANK ALWAYS SHOWS THAT ITS EMPTY AND CAN LEAD TO PEOPLE BEING STRANDED DUE TO UNKNOWN AMOUNTS OF FUEL IN THE TANK. *TR
I HAVE TIRES ON MY CHEVY TRAILBLAZER THAT ARE WEARING IN THE MIDDLE OF MY TIRE. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE FAR ON THESE TIRE SINCE I HAVE NEVER SEEN TIRES DO THIS. *TR

HE PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, WHICH CAUSED IT TO STOP SMOKING. A MECHANIC STATED THAT THE CONTROL FUSE BOX CAUGHT FIRE. THE CONTACT TOOK HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE NECESSARY PARTS FOR THE REPAIR. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT WAS EXPERIENCING FUEL GAUGE ISSUES. WHEN HE FILLED UP THE VEHICLE WITH GASOLINE, THE GAUGE INDICATED THAT IT WAS EMPTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,500. UPDATED 07/28/09 *BF UPDATED 07/30/09.*JB
2006 TRAILBLAZER, 26560 IN MILEAGE. AFTER FILLING VEHICLE UP WITH GAS, LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON & IT KEPT DINGING!!!! THE TANK WAS FULL. DEALER STATES THAT THEY NEED TO DROP THE TANK & KEEP THE VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST A DAY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I'M AFRAID HOW MUCH THIS MAY COST. THE CONTACT HAD AFTERMARKET LEATHER SEATS INSTALLED IN HER VEHICLE AND CALLED THE MANUFACTURER IN REFERENCE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V417000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL). SHE IS CURRENTLY AWAITING THEIR RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,397 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,439.

WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 30-60 MPH, THE ENGINE WOULD STALL AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT FLASHED. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A FAILED SEAL THAT CAUSED WATER AND ORANGE SLUDGE TO BUILD UP IN THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE WAS CLEANED AND THE FAILED SEAL WAS REPLACED. THE FRAME AROUND THE LICENSE PLATE WAS LEAKING TAR. THE DEALER INFORMED HER THAT THE TAR WAS COMING FROM THE TAILGATE. SHE APPLIED TAR REMOVER TO THE TAILGATE AND LICENSE FRAME AND NO LONGER EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,000.

I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND WENT TO MOVE INTO THE INTERSECTION. A COUPLE OF FEET INTO THE INTERSECTION THE TRANSMISSION MADE A LOUD BANG TYPE SOUND AND THE SUV STOPPED MOVING. THIS ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENT WITH CROSS TRAFFIC AND I WAS ALMOST HIT TWICE WHEN I PUSHED THE SUV OUT OF THE INTERSECTION.
