BOUGHT USED, MILEAGE INDICATED ABOVE. THE FUEL GAUGE WAS SHOWING AN APPROXIMATE PROPER AMOUNT AT 1/4 TANK. ON FIRST FUEL UP, FULL, THE FUEL GAUGE WENT TO SHOW "EMPTY". IT STAYED LIKE THIS FOR AN APPROX. 1/4 TANK, THEN WENT TO THE ACTUAL FUEL AMOUNT. THIS OCCURRED FOR ABOUT THE NEXT 5 FILL UPS, THEN THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL....ALWAYS SHOWING EMPTY. THIS HAS CAUSED ME RUNNING OUT OF FUEL TWICE, LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE SAFELY, BOTH TIMES I WAS IN MODERATE TO HEAVY TRAFFIC. I HAVE FOUND NO RECALLS, BUT MANY COMPLAINTS! WHAT'S UP WITH THIS! I HAVE LOST TRUST IN CHEVY FOR NOT FIXING AN OBVIOUS FACTORY PROBLEM! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, HE NOTICED AN OVERPOWERING GASOLINE ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL RAIL WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THERE WAS A HAIRLINE FRACTURE ON THE FUEL RAIL NEAR THE ALTERNATOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 60MPH MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON AN MY CAR STARTED JERKING AS THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES KICKED IN. I LET UP OFF THE GAS BUT AS SOON AS I APPLIED THE GAS IT CONTINUED, I THEN PULLED OVER TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF I LET IT SIT FOR ABOUT 5 MIN AN STARTED IT BACK UP AN IT WAS FINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER, AN USUALLY WHEN I AM GOING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED. I WOULD SAY IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 10X IN THE PAST YEAR. *JS
DEAR SIRS OR MADAM, I AM WRITING TO YOU REGARDING THE RECALL THAT WAS ISSUED FOR THE DOOR SWITCH ON ABOVE NAMED VEHICLE. THE SWITCH ON MY VEHICLE MALFUNCTIONED IN 2011, BEFORE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED. LATER, UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO WAILER CHEVY IN KEENE, NH, I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL AND I AM ELIGIBLE FOR A REIMBURSEMENT OF THE OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE OF REPLACING THE PART. IN SHORT, GM INITIALLY DENIED ME THE REIMBURSEMENT FOR SUPERFICIAL REASONS. LATER AFTER I CONTACTED AND FILED COMPLAINTS WITH THE AGENCIES LISTED BELOW, GM OFFERED AND SENT A CHECK THAT COVERS ONLY THE PRICE WE PAID FOR THE PART, BUT NOT THE LABOR IT TOOK TO INSTALL IT. I HAVE NOT YET CASHED THAT CHECK, AS THERE IS LANGUAGE ON IT THAT INDICATES THE ISSUE WOULD BE RESOLVED UPON CASHING. IT IS NOT RESOLVED. THE BALANCE STILL OWED IS $272.18. I WAS TOLD BY SOME OF THE AGENCIES LISTED BELOW THAT NHTSA WAS THE FEDERAL ENTITY RESPONSIBLE FOR INSURING MANUFACTURER COMPLIANCE WITH RECALLS. I WAS ON A TRIP WHEN I HAD STOPPED TO FUEL UP MY TANK BECAUSE IT WAD CLOSE TO EMPTY SO ONCE I FUELED IT UP TO FULL AND TURNED MY CAR BACK ON FOR A SECOND IT SHOWED FULL TANK THEN JUST STROLLED TO EMPTY AND AFTER FEE MINUTES WENT BACK TO FULL. COUPLE DAYS LATER THE GAUGE JUST STARTED GOING CRAZY AND SHOWING ALL KINDS OF LEVELS OF THE FUEL TANK. NOW IT ONLY STAYS ON EMPTY WITH THE YELLOW LIGHT ON. BUT BEFORE THIS ALL HAPPENED MY OIL PRESSURE SENSOR STOPPED WORKING. ITS FRUSTRATING AND I'VE BEEN LEFT WITHOUT GAS ON MIDDLE OF ROAD A FEW TIMES. *TR
FOR MONTHS I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE. IT WAS TAKEN IN TO CHEVROLET FOR A RECALL REPAIR AND NOW IT SEEMS TO HAVE ALL SORTS OF PROBLEMS! MY FUEL GAUGE IN THE TANK IS NO LONGER WORKING, MY A/C WAS WORKING ONE DAY BUT NOT THE NEXT, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON AND OFF, IT'S DUMPING FUEL, THE THERMOSTAT HAD TO BE REPLACED...WHEN DO THE PROBLEMS END? NOW COME TO FIND OUT AFTER HAVING MY BLOWER MOTOR REPLACED THE CONNECTOR FOR THE ELECTRICAL HAS HAD A LITTLE BIT OF MELTING ISSUE WHICH POTENTIALLY COULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE!!! OF COURSE GENERAL MOTORS WANTS AND ARM AND A LEG TO REPLACE IT!!!! I DON'T THINK I WILL EVER BUY ANOTHER CHEVY AGAIN, THIS IS RIDICULOUS! CHANGING OUT THE AIR FILTER AS PART OF ROUTINE SELF CHECK AND MAINTENANCE. DECIDED TO CHECK THE OIL AND OTHER FLUIDS AT THE SAME TIME. THE OIL RESERVOIR IS BONE DRY. MY OIL IS CHANGED AT REGULAR INTERVALS, AT THE SAME SHOP, SINCE I'VE OWNED IT. THE OIL LIGHT/SENSOR DIDN'T COME ON. THE ONSTAR REPORT DOESN'T SHOW ANY LOW OIL LEVEL. MAYBE THIS IS A BUILT IN FEATURE FROM CHEVROLET - THE "THROW A ROD IN THE ENGINE INDUCTION SYSTEM"!!! VEHICLE IS ALWAYS SERVICED AT THE DEALER, BUT THEY USUALLY DON'T FIND ANYTHING WORTH FIXING UNTIL YOU BILL CAN COME OUT TO AT LEAST $1000. THE TV COMMERCIALS THEY RUN ABOUT CHEVY TRUCKS ARE "LIKE A ROCK" ARE VERY TRUE. THIS TRAILBLAZER IS AS USELESS AS A ROCK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SMOKE STARTED TO EMIT FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER AND HEAT BECAME INOPERABLE PREVENTING THE WINDOWS FROM DEFROSTING. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE CLIMATE CONTROL PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
THIS SUV IS NOTHING SHORT OF A ROLLING HAZARD. THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT IS ON AND OFF, AGAIN, FOR THE PAST 6 DAYS. TRIED TO START IT UP THIS MORNING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. AS SOON AS I WAS ABOUT TO BACK OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO IDLE IN A MANNER THAT CAUSED THE RPMS TO CRANK WAY UP AND THEN PLUNGE UNTIL ALMOST SHUTTING THE ENGINE DOWN WITH VIOLENT SHAKING AND LOUD ROARING NOISE. YESTERDAY, THE STABILITRAK WARNINGS (2) CAME ON THE DASHBOARD - I WAS ONLY GOING 3 MPH EXITING A PARKING LOT. THERE WAS NO INCLEMENT WEATHER AND THE ROAD WAS BONE DRY. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO PICK UP POWER AND IT SEEMS LIKE THE MORE I PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL, THE SLOWER I GO. I LIVE IN HOUSTON AND THE TRAFFIC CONDITIONS REALLY DON'T ALLOW FOR A "SUDDEN STOP" OR LOSS OF POWER ON A FREEWAY WHERE PEOPLE ARE TRAVELING AT AN AVERAGE SPEED OF 70 MPH. I HAVE HAD 4 OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT IN 3 YRS. THE DEALER ISN'T MUCH HELP AND GM CHEVY IS NO HELP AT ALL!!!! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING IN SNOWY WEATHER. THE VEHICLE NOSE DIVED INTO AN EMBANKMENT AND THEN CRASHED INTO A BOULDER. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE FOR TREATMENT OF A CONCUSSION AND BRUISING. THE FRONT PASSENGER WAS ALSO INJURED AND SUSTAINED BRUISING. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND HAD GOT CUT OFF BY A CAR. I SWERVED AND AVOIDED HITTING THE CAR BUT ENDED UP HITTING THE MEDIAN ALMOST DIRECTLY HEAD ON. THE WHOLE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS SMASHED IN AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE AIRBAGS NEVER WENT OFF, ME AND MY PASSENGER WERE BOTH WEARING OUR SEAT BELT AND I ENDED UP HITTING MY HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL LEAVING ME UNCONSCIOUS. AN AMBULANCE RUSHED ME TO THE HOSPITAL AND I RECEIVED 10 STITCHES ABOVE MY LEFT EYE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR AN UNRELATED REPAIR WHEN THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
THIS VEHICLE WAS IN A REAR TO REAR ACCIDENT ON 06/04/13. EVERY SINCE THE ACCIDENT THE REAR HAS BEEN DOWN AND IT WAS TAKEN TO SERRA CHEVROLET IN BARTLETT, TN ON 09/16/13. THEY DETERMINE THAT THE REAR AIR SPRINGS WAS NOT AIRING UP AND WAS NOT CAUSED BY THE ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME ON 09/19/13 BY THE COLLISION REPAIR SHOP. ON 09/19/13 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO SERRA CHEVROLET IN BARTLETT, TN AND DROPED OFF FOR THE EARLY BIRD. THAT FRIDAY 09/20/13, I WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE REAR COMPRESSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS NO PSI WAS ENGAGING IN THE REAR AIR SPRINGS. I ADVISED THEM OKAY AND TO GO AHEAD AND COMPLETE THE JOB. THEY ADVISED ME THAT MY VEHICLE WOULD BE READY THAT AFTERNOON. CALL RECEIVED AT 3:42 PM ON 09/20/13 ADVISING THAT MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE READY ON 09/20/13, BUT WOULD BE READY BY MONDAY 09/23/13 AROUND 11:00 AM. I ADVISED HIM (DAVID LANE) THAT I WAS WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION AND THAT I HAD TODDLER THAT WAS SICK AND NEEDED TRANSPORTATION. HE STATED HE DID NOT HAVE ANY VEHICLES THAT HE COULD LOAN ME. ON MONDAY 09/23/13, SINCE I HAD NOT RECEIVED A CALL AT (11:00 AM THE PROMISE TIME) I CALLED AT 12:30 PM, TO CHECK ON THE VEHICLE. AT THAT TIME, I WAS ADVISED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS READY AND THAT I COULD COME AND PICK IT UP. I ARRIVE TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE ON 09/23/13 AT 1:48 PM AND PAID $885.39. I LEFT AND TOOK POSSESSION OF MY VEHICLE. ON 09/24/13, WHEN LEAVING WORK I NOTICED THAT MY REAR END WAS DOWN AGAIN AND I IMMEDIATELY CALLED SERRA CHEVROLET AND LEFT MESSAGE FOR DAVID LANE. HE RETURNED MY CALL ON 09/25/13 AND ASKED THAT I BRING THE VEHICLE IN ON 09/26/13 BY 8;00 AM. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE ON 09/26/13 AT THE TIME ASKED. AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER I WAS ADVISED THAT THE AIR SHOCKS HAD PIN HOLES IN THEM AND THAT THEY REALLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HE STATED THAT THIS WOULD BE $551.00 IN ADDITION. I ASKED IF THE *JS
THREE TIMES WHILE DRIVING MY TRAILBLAZER, ALL LIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT. THE THREE TIMES DID NOT HAPPEN UNDER SIMILAR DRIVING CONDITIONS. ONE WAS WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT 70 MPH, ONE WAS WHILE EXITING A BUSINESS ROUTE AT LESS THAN 45 MPH, THE THIRD WAS WHILE PULLING UP TO A STOPLIGHT. I HAVE LEARNED TO USE THE LIGHTING CONTROL KNOB ON THE CONSOLE, TURNING IT TO THE RIGHT AND BACK AGAIN UNTIL THE LIGHTS COME BACK ON. THE PART OF SYSTEM CAUSING THE ISSUE IS UNKNOWN TO ME.
THE HEAD LIGHTS POOR VISIBILITY
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IN MY 2006 TRAIL BLAZER I HAD A DOOR SWITCH/LATCH MALFUNCTION. IN MY VEHICLE WHEN YOU PASS 15 MPH THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY LOCK. AT THAT MOMENT THE DOORS SWITCHED TO LOCKED AND AT THE SAME EXACT TIME THE DOOR LOCK/LATCH FAILED AND THE DOOR OPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS MOVING. I MADE ARRANGEMENTS WITH MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER VIA CHEVY CUSTOMER CARE TO CORRECT A RECALL WITH THE DOOR SWITCH. WHEN I RECEIVED MY VEHICLE BACK THE DOOR LATCH/LOCK WAS NOT FIXED. THAT PART WASN'T UNDER RECALL. THE PART THAT FAILED WAS THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR WHICH IS AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE THAT IS PART OF THE DOOR SWITCHING/LOCKING SYSTEM. THE FACT THAT THE DOOR SWITCH WAS RECALLED DUE TO SHORTAGES IS QUITE POSSIBLY FOR THE FAILURE OF THIS LATCH/LOCK. I AM AN AVID SEAT BELT WEARER, LUCKILY. I AM GREAT CONCERNED WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH WITH THIS FAILURE IN OTHER VEHICLES. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO THE DEALER AND GM BUT WAS TOLD TOO BAD FOR THE DEALER AND HAVE BAD NO RESPONSE WHEN I MENTIONED THEIR LACK OF CONCERN FOR SAFETY. THANK YOU *TR
THE COOLANT LINE THAT SUPPLIES THE REAR COOLING AND HEATING UNIT DEVELOPED A LEAK. AFTER HAVING THE SUV CHECKED OUT FOUND THAT HE SUPPLY LINE WAS RUBBING AGAINST THE SUV BODY AND FRAME. LINE WAS NOT PUT IN PROPERLY. PATCHED LINE WITH RUBBER HOSE TO STOP LEAK AND TO PROTECT FROM ANY MORE RUBBING AGAINST FRAME.
FIRST INCIDENT: (23 AUGUST 2013) DRIVING TO STOP AT STOP SIGN AT APPROXIMATELY 15MPH , VEHICLE TURNED OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING LIGHTS. SECOND INCIDENT: (26 AUGUST 2013) DRIVING ON HIGHWAY GOING CLOSE TO 65 MPH, ONCE AGAIN VEHICLE TURNED OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING LIGHTS. HAD TO TURN HAZARDS OFF AND COAST TO SAFE ZONE WHILE CARS WERE PASSING ME GOING 65-80MPH. THIRD INCIDENT: (28 AUGUST 2013) DRIVING CLOSE TO 50 MPH, ONCE AGAIN VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING LIGHTS. ONCE AGAIN HAD TO COAST TO THE MEDIAN AND HOPE NOT TO GET IN A CAR WRECK. ALL 3 OF THESE INCIDENTS HAPPENED WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE ALSO DONE RESEARCH THROUGH VARIOUS FORUMS AND WEBSITES. IT HAPPENS WITHOUT ANY WARNING AT ALL AND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THERE IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX BY CHANGING THE IGNITION SWITCH BUT MONTHS LATER IT COMES BACK. THE ONLY THING THAT YOU CAN DO (FROM MY KNOWLEDGE) IS LET IT SIT FOR AN HOUR OR 2 AND THEN IT STARTS UP FINE, BUT WHEN YOUR DRIVING AT 70 MPH THE LAST THING YOU WANT IS FOR YOUR VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY SHUT OFF ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE IN THE EXACT SAME SITUATION AS ME HOPING THE NEXT TIME THEY GET INTO THEIR VEHICLE THEY WONT BE IN AN ACCIDENT. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION. *TT
WITH REGARD TO THE BELOW SERVICE BULLETIN, I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT. AT APPROXIMATELY 106,000 MILES, MY 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND WINDSHIELD SPRAY MECHANISM ACTIVATED WITHOUT BEING PROMPTED. THE SPRAY RESERVOIR PUMPED WASHER FLUID, AT AN ALARMING RATE, ALL OVER THE WINDSHIELD WHILE I WAS ON A MAJOR FREEWAY. I HAD A VERY HARD TIME MOVING TO THE SAFE LANE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP, BECAUSE I COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING. EVEN THOUGH THE WIPERS WERE ON HIGH SPEED, THIS WAS NOT FAST ENOUGH TO REMOVE THE WASHER FLUID SO I COULD SEE. THE WIPERS WILL NOT TURN OFF UNLESS I REMOVE THE FUSE. THEREFORE, WHEN IT IS RAINING AND I'M DRIVING, I HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND INSERT THE FUSE INTO THE FUSE BOX TO GET WIPER ACTION. I COMPLETELY DISENGAGED THE WASHER FLUID RESERVOIR BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET IT TO TURN OFF ANY OTHER WAY. GM, OF COURSE, FAILS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM. ENGINE LIGHT ON INDICATED VAPOR COLLECTION BOX UNDER CAR NOT WORKING PROPERLY,AND/OR NEEDING TUNE UP. PERFORMED TUNE-UP, ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON. , THIS, ACCORDING TO MY LICENSED MECHANIC IS A DEFECTIVE DESIGN CONSTRUCTION PROBLEM. THAT HAVING THE BOX FOGGED FOR LEAKS AND SUBSEQUENT REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT RESULTS IN MULTIPLE SITUATIONS OF THE LIGHT ALWAYS COMING BACK ON. 2. THE MASTER SWITCH ON THE DRIVERS DOOR WENT OUT, DURING THE RAINY SEASON AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WE RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP, NEVER ANY MAIL PRIOR TO REPAIRING, WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (UNDER ANOTHER RECALL TOO, FOR FUEL LEVEL SENSOR, THE DEALERSHIP IS CHARGING $60.00 TO CHECK IT OUT. IS GM AND OR CHEVROLET FINDING IT NECESSARY TO DRUM UP REPAIR COSTS FROM THE CONSUMER TO THEMSELVES. THIS IS JUST A LITTLE MORE OR LESS LIKE SCAMMING. *JS
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, GOING OVER AN EXTREMELY HIGH AND LONG OVERPASS, AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON SPRAYING WIPER FLUID NON-STOP. I COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING, BUT MANAGED TO GET THE HAZARD LIGHTS ON A GET IN THE EMERGENCY LANE. THE WIPERS COULDN'T BE DISENGAGED AND THE FLUID WAS GUSHING OUT LIKE A WHALE SPOUTING WATER. I REMOVED THE FUSE FOR THE WIPERS AND LET THE FLUID EMPTY ITSELF OUT IN SPRAY. ONCE I GOT HOME, I PUT THE FUSE BACK IN AND THE WIPERS COME ON WITH THE CONTROL IN THE "OFF" POSITION. THEY ONLY OPERATE AT HIGH SPEED. I CAN'T TURN THEM OFF UNLESS I REMOVE THE FUSE. THIS IS DANGEROUS - I COULD HAVE FLOWN RIGHT OFF THE FREEWAY ON THAT OVERPASS. I COULDN'T SEE FOR THE WIPERS MOVING SO FAST, BUT NOT FAST ENOUGH TO REMOVE THE CONSTANT GUSHING OF THE WIPER FLUID. THE TV COMMERCIALS THEY RUN ABOUT CHEVY TRUCKS ARE "LIKE A ROCK" ARE VERY TRUE. GAS GAUGE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I CAN FILL THE TANK AND IT WILL SAY THAT MY FUEL LEVEL IS LOW, 2 BLOCKS LATER IT WILL SAY I CAN DRIVE 240 MILES AND THE NEEDLE WILL ALSO GO UP, 4 BLOCKS LATER THEY ARE BOTH BACK DOWN TO ONLY 64 MILES FOR EXAMPLE, THEN BACK UP AGAIN AND THEN IT WILL DING AN ALARM AND SAY FUEL LEVEL LOW. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE IN MY TANK EVER. THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR MY SON AND I TO BE DRIVING AROUND NOT KNOWING WHEN THE GAUGES ARE WORKING. MY 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER HAS BEEN HAVING DIFFICULTIES WITH THE FUEL GAGE. NO MATTER HOW MUCH GAS I PUT IN THE GAGE SHOOTS TO OVER FULL, THEN WITHIN A DAY GOES TO EMPTY AND WARNING LIGHT GOES ON. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AS MY CAR'S WARRANTY EXPIRED 6 MONTHS AGO, AND WAS TOLD IT WAS PROBLEM THE GAS TANK UNIT OR SENDER AND THAT IT COULD COST UP TO $1000 TO FIX. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I COME ACROSS SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS TO THIS SAME EFFECT AND GM IS ONLY WILLING TO PAY FOR 50% OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THIS IS TO REPORT A DEFECT THAT IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE FUEL SENSING SYSTEM. THIS IS TO DOCUMENT MY CLAIM FOR RECALL PURPOSES. THERE HAVE BEEN TWO INCIDENTS, BUT I AM REPORTING THE FIRST INCIDENT TO KEEP THIS REPORT SHORT. WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE FUEL INDICATOR SHOWED ABOUT FULL, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, IT DROPPED TO LESS THAN EMPTY AND MY FUEL LIGHT ENGAGED. AS I WAS DRIVING TO GET TO THE NEAREST GAS STATION, THE ENGINE STOPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. LUCKILY, I WAS IN A POSITION TO LET THE VEHICLE ROLL AROUND A CORNER. IT WAS IN A DANGEROUS PLACE JUST AS CARS WERE COMPLETING THE TURN. I PUT THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS ON AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR BEFORE AN ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR. IT WAS ALSO FORTUNATE THAT MY VEHICLE DIDN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE HURT SOMEONE BESIDES MYSELF. THE OTHER REASON WHY THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN, IS I HAVE A RARE MEDICAL CONDITION THAT AFFECTS MY LUNGS AND HEART. IT PLACED ME IN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS POSITION TO HEAT EXPOSURE. I HAVE A HARD TIME BREATHING IN HEAT AND HUMIDITY. AGAIN, FORTUNE WAS ON MY SIDE, AND THERE WAS A TREE FOR SHADE TO WAIT FOR HELP AND IT WAS ONE MONTH BEFORE IT GOT DANGEROUSLY HOT. GRANTED, THERE IS ALWAYS A CHANCE ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN TO A CAR THAT COULD POTENTIALLY PLACE ME IN THE SAME POSITION, BUT IN THIS CASE, ANOTHER OCCURRENCE OCCURRED AND WHEN I CALLED A LOCAL MECHANIC, IT WAS WELL KNOWN THAT HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL SENSOR. THE SUMMER OF 2013 I HAD IT BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT MY DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD FAIL TO LIGHT UP AS THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED. THIS COMPLAINT IS BEING FILED ON BEHALF OF THE VEHICLE OWNER AND DRIVER. THIS CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WAS INVOLVED IN A TWO VEHICLE, DOUBLE FATAL CRASH. THE FRONT OF THE TRAILBLAZER STRUCK THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR OF A CAVALIER THAT FAILED TO YIELD FROM A STOP SIGN. THE TRAILBLAZER STAYED CONNECTED WITH THE CAVALIER, FORCING IT OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROADWAY AND INTO A LARGE TREE. BOTH OCCUPANTS IN THE CAVALIER WERE FATALLY INJURED. OUR VEHICLE SUSTAINED A DIRECT HIT ON THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. AFTER THE INITIAL COLLISION OUR VEHICLE REMAINED IN CONTACT WITH THE VEHICLE THAT FAILED TO STOP AND BOTH OF OUR VEHICLES WERE DRIVEN DIRECTLY INTO A TREE, THUS INCURRING ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ( MORE SIGNIFICANT THAN THE INITIAL COLLISION W/ THE OTHER CAR ) AND THE AIR BAGS STILL DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE 2 PEOPLE IN THE FRONT SEATS AND 2 PEOPLE IN REAR SEATS. ALL SUSTAINED INJURIES AND NEEDED OR STILL REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE TWO PASSENGERS ON THE OTHER VEHICLE WERE FATALLY INJURED. THERE HAD NEVER BEEN ANY INDICATION OF AIR BAG FAILURE AND NEVER ANY WARNING "IDIOT" LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD EVER AT ANY TIME INDICATION ANY ISSUES W/ AIR BAG FUNCTIONALITY. THE CLOSEST WAS IN HOMEWOOD, IL. AFTER GM FIXED THE CAR, I ASKED WHAT WOULD CAUSE SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO HAPPEN. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP, IT IS SOMETHING THAT JUST HAPPENS. KNOWING THE GRAVITY OF WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED, THIS IS VERY UPSETTING. DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC IN ORLANDO (DISNEY WORLD COLLEGE INTERN) AND NOTICE SMOKE AND THEN FIRE COMING FROM PASSENGER SIDE, UNDER THE DASH. CAR WAS IN MOTION, SHE TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND EXIT, HAD TROUBLE GETTING CAR TO STOP, AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN PARK. FIRE RAPIDLY SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE CABIN. SHE HAD TO PUT HER HAND INTO THE FIRE TO GET TO THE SHIFTER, AND THEN HURT HER KNEE WHEN SHE LEFT THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS STILL MOVING. THE ENTIRE INTERIOR WAS TOTALLY CONSUMED, ALL WINDOWS ARE GONE, ALL SEATS ARE BURNT TO THE FRAMES, AND IT APPEARS THAT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TOOK OUT THE FRONT GRILL TO GET TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. UNKNOWN CAUSE OF FIRE AT THIS TIME, VEHICLE IS A TOTAL LOSS, AND IS NOW IN A TOW LOT. WE WILL NEVER SEE THE VEHICLE AGAIN SINCE WE LIVE IN NEBRASKA. MY WIFE WEIGHS ABOUT 100 #'S YET THE AIR BAG LIGHT SHOWS OFF. THIS IS A SAFETY ITEM.
WIFE FILLED TRAILBLAZER WITH FUEL DURING A TRIP TODAY. WHEN SHE RETURNED TO VEHICLE AND STARTED IT LOW GAS LIGHT ON GAUGE CLUSTER LIT AND FUEL GAUGE WENT TO ZERO. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AT 11,000 MILES AND GAS LEVEL HAS NEVER BEEN ALLOWED TO FALL BELOW 1/4 OF A TANK SO AS TO PREVENT FUEL PUMP OVERHEATING AND FAILURE, HENCE, THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON. *TR
MY FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT WORK AT ALL! 98% OF THE TIME THE FUEL GAUGE SAYS I AM ON EMPTY EVEN THOUGH I HAVE JUST FILLED UP. WHILE I AM DRIVING IT WILL SPORADICALLY JUMP AROUND AND STICK AT DIFFERENT LEVELS. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE. I HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS BEFORE BECAUSE OF THIS AND NOW I AM AT THE GAS STATION PRETTY MUCH EVERY OTHER DAY TO MAKE SURE I DO NOT RUN OUT. *TR
FILL THE CAR UP AND THE GAUGE STILL SHOW EMPTY AND THE LIGHT WAS ON, WHEN I PULLED IN TO THE GAS STATION THE LOW FUEL LIGHT WASN'T ON AND I HAD A 8TH OF A TANK BUT WHEN I FILLED IT UP IT DIDN'T REGISTER AND THE LIGHT WAS ON I DROVE AROUND FOR COUPLE OF DAYS AND PUT $40.00 IN AND THE LIGHT WAS ON AND GAUGE SHOW EMPTY . TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF I RAN OUT OF GAS AND SOMEONE RUNS INTO ME I SHOULD NOT PAY 50% CHEVY SHOULD PAY FOR IT TO REPLACE IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 35 MPH, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND THE RADIO VOLUME FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000. *TR
STARTED BY TRUCK, THE BRAKES AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ON, ALSO ENGINE LIGHT. AFTER TURNING OFF AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES, I RESTARTED MY TRUCK. LIGHTS WERE OFF. I DRIVE APPROX 33 MILES TO WORK EVERYDAY. WHEN I ARRIVED TO WORK, AS I WAS PARKING IT SOUNDED LIKE MY BRAKES WERE GRINDING AND HARD TO MOVE MY TRUCK. IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO DRIVE IT, LIKE SOMETHING WAS HOLDING IT BACK. WHEN I WAS LEAVING TO GO HOME, NOTHING, EVERYTHING SEEMED OK. APPROX 5 MINUTES BEFORE GETTING HOME, I WAS AT A LIGHT AND WHEN I PUSH THE GAS TO GO, THE NOISE CAME BACK AND IT WAS VERY HARD TO GET MY TRUCK TO MOVE. FINALLY GOT IT HOME, I TOLD MY SON WHAT HAPPENED, HE TOOK IT FOR A DRIVE AND NOTHING. FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS ONLY HERE AND THERE MAYBE I WOULD HEAR THE GRINDING NOISE AND HARD TO MOVE MY TRUCK. YESTERDAY 4/15/2013, I WAS GOING HOME AND STOP AT LIGHT, MY TUCK DID NOT MOVE AGAIN, LIGHT SOMETHING STOPPING IT FROM MOVING. WHEN IT STARTED MOVING THE NOISE IS SO LOUD THAT IT SOUNDS LIKE THE WHOLE BOTTOM OF MY TRUCK GOING TO FALL OFF. MY TRUCK WAS IN THE SHOP FOR THE RECALL OF SENSOR FOR WINDOW, THEY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE A INSPECTION THAT MY TRUCK WAS IN THE GREEN FOR ALL, NEW ROTORS, NEW BRAKES ALL GOOD. SO I LOOKED ONLINE AND I CAN SEE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM, BUT I DO NOT SEE IT ON THIS SIGHT. I AM SCARED ... DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS? *TR
AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK TO FULL, THE FUEL GAUGE READ EMPTY AND THE DISPLAY READ "LOW FUEL'. AFTER DRIVING A FEW MILES, THE GAUGE READ DIFFERENT READINGS FROM 1/4 TANK TO 3/4 TANK AND WOULD SOMETIME READ FULL AND SLOWLY DROP TO EMPTY. *TR
