I WAS DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY WHEN MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR STARTED SMOKING, NO VISIBLE FIRE BUT CLEARLY BLACK SMOKE. I CONTINUED TO PULLOVER AND TRY TO EXIT MY VEHICLE. WHEN I PULLED OVER I TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR BUT IT DID NOT WORK, SO I CONTINUED TO GET OUT MY PASSENGER DOOR. UPON MY OWN FURTHER INSPECTION I OPENED THE MASTER CONTROL UNIT WAS MELTED. *TR....UPDATED 08-24-12 *BF
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A BURNING SMELL EMITTED INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AND DOOR LOCKS AND MASTER SWITCH FAILED TO WORK PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REMOVED THE DOOR AND WINDOW SWITCH CONSOLE AND CONFIRMED MELTED WIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER:12V406000(VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
MY 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER DRIVER SIDE DOOR CAUGHT ON FIRE SOMETIME EARLY MORNING WHILE WE SLEPT. NOW MY VEHICLE WILL NOT START AND DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND WINDOW MODULE IS TOTALLY MELTED. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH OTHER THINGS PRIOR TO THIS. MY DOOR CHIMES STOPPED WORKING. MY AIR WILL NOT BLOW OUT OF THE VENTS AND MY RADIO SPEAKERS ARE NOT WORKING. MY TEENAGER DRIVES THIS VEHICLE SO THIS IS A BIG CONCERN FOR ME. I REALLY WOULD LOVE GM TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND HONOR THEIR PRODUCT. I FEEL TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. I HAVE SEEN WEBSITES WITH COMPLAINT AFTER COMPLAINT WITH THE TRAILBLAZER'S ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. WE NEED A VOICE. SOMEONE WHO HAS THE POWER OR PULL TO FORCE CHEVY TO RECALL THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES REGARDING THEIR WORKMANSHIP OR THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCT. *TR UPDATED 8/17/12 *CN
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO GET MY SON FROM THE VEHICLE, THE LEFT REAR PASSENGER HANDLE ASSEMBLY PULLED AWAY FROM THE DOOR HOUSING AND INTO MY HAND. THE LINKAGE REMAINED INTACT, SO I PUSHED THE HANDLE BACK INTO PLACE AND LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. UPON BORESCOPE REVIEW, THE MOUNTING BRACKET TO WHICH THE HANDLE FASTENED WAS SO BADLY CORRODED THAT IT DISINTEGRATED WHEN I CLOSED THE DOOR AND DROPPED TO THE BOTTOM OF IT. MIND YOU NOW THAT THIS CORROSION TOOK PLACE INSIDE THE DOOR HOUSING AS THE DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY IS NOT SEALED WHATSOEVER FROM THE EXTERIOR ELEMENTS (AND GM WONDERS WHY THE RECENT DOOR.WINDOW SWITCH RECALL OCCURRED). UPON REVIEW OF THE RIGHT SIDE REAR PASSENGER DOOR, I NOTICED THE SAME RUST STAINING BELOW THAT HANDLE (VEHICLE IS WHITE, SO CONTRAST IS GOOD) SO IT IS LIKLEY ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THAT FAILS AS WELL. I CONTACTED CHEVY, WAS ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER & TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERS FOR REQUIRED ASSESSMENT. WAS CALLED THE NEXT DAY BY CHEVY AND TOLD THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER THEY COULD NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE "DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE CLIMATE WHERE I LIVE" (NORTHEAST). I QUESTIONED THEIR RATIONALE AND ASKED THEM IF THEY SOLD SPECIFIC VEHICLES TO NE CUSTOMERS - THEIR REPLY WAS "NO". I AGAIN REITERATED THAT THE CORROSION TOOK PLACE ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR, NOT THE EXTERIOR - HOWEVER THE SCRIPTED RESPONSE FROM CSR WAS THE SAME. I STRONGLY URGE NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM FURTHER AS IT IS A DEFINITIVE SAFETY ISSUE IN EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT IN WHICH MY CHILDREN WOULD HAVE TO BE RAPIDLY EXTRACTED FROM THE VEHICLE AND THE FIRST RESPONDER IS SITTING THERE WITH A FAULTY HANDLE IN HIS HAND. YES, THEY COULD BREAK THE WINDOW, BUT TRY TELLING A 1 & 3 YEAR OLD TO CLOSE THEIR EYES AND TURN THEIR HEAD AND SEE IF COMPLIANCE IS ATTAINED! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSE THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V406000 (VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS) THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER EST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, BURNING FUMES STARTED TO COME INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SMOKE WAS EMITTING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW CONTROL PANEL AND A RESULT, THE PANEL MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED ON ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT, HARNESS AND THE MASTER SWITCH ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW FAILED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. THE MASTER SWITCH MALFUNCTION PREVENTED ALL THE WINDOWS FROM WORKING PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE MASTER SWITCH AND THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 47,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT AUTO MECHANICS WHO BOTH STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
THE VEHICLE WINDOWS OPEN AND CLOSE RANDOMLY. THE FRONT DRIVER PANEL CONTROLS ALL WINDOWS AND WILL CLOSE THE WINDOWS RANDOMLY IF OPEN. MY CHILD HAS BEEN CLOSE TO INJURED DUE TO THIS. THE SIDE VIEW MIRROR WILL RANDOMLY MOVE IN THE DOWNWARD DIRECTION WHILE I AM DRIVING. THE FRONT DRIVER DOOR WILL STAY LOCKED EVEN AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF, LOCKING ME IN. THE MANUAL SWITCH TO UNLOCK THE DRIVER DOOR DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK EITHER, SO I NEED TO CLIMB OVER TO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO GET OUT. ALL THESE OCCURRENCES ARE DANGEROUS TO ME AND MY CHILDREN AND I WOULD LIKE THIS TO BE ADDRESSED. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND GM AND THEY SAID I DO NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL DUE TO MY LOCATION, EVEN THOUGH I SPEND A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF TIME IN THE NORTHEAST COASTAL AREA. THE DEALER ALSO REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM SAYING THEY DON'T HAVE THE PROTOCOL ON THE RECALL REPAIR OF THIS VEHICLE. GM HAS THAT RECORD. UPDATED 08/11/12 *BF

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AND THE CONTROL MECHANISM ON THE DOOR HANDLE WERE MELTING, WHICH PREVENTED HER FROM OPENING THE WINDOW OR LOCKING THE DOOR. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS STRONG BURNING ODOR IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,250.
2006 TRAILBLAZER WAS PARKED NOT RUNNING. WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR THERE WAS A BURNING PLASTIC SMELL AND SMOKE COMING FROM THE DRIVERS DOOR. WHEN I PULLED THE DOOR WINDOW SWITCH PANEL OUT, THE SIDE OF IT WAS MELTED AND HAD MELTED PART OF THE DOOR PANEL, WINDOW, DOOR LOCK, AND WINDOW LOCK BUTTON DON'T WORK. I HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK THE DRIVERS DOOR, BECAUSE THE REMOTE DOESN'T WORK ON THAT DOOR. LOOKED UP RECALLS AND WAS SURPRISED WHEN IT WASN'T ON YOUR WEBSITE. MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. *TR UPDATED 08/21/12*LJ
WHILE ON VACATION IN NY I WENT TO MOVE MY TRAILBLAZER TO BE ABLE TO PACK UP FOR THE TRIP HOME AND WHEN MOVING IT I NOTICED A STRONG SMELL OF ELECTRICAL FIRE AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE AREA AROUND THE DRIVERS DOOR MASTER WINDOW SWITCH. I QUICKLY TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND PULLED THE SWITCH PLATE OUT OF THE DOOR BUT IT WAS TO LATE. THE DAMAGE HAD ALREADY BEEN DONE. THE SWITCH HAD SHORTED AND MELTED ALL OF THE RIBBON CABLE IN THE SWITCH AND RENDERED IT INOPERABLE. THERE WAS A SLIGHT MISTY RAIN WHEN ALL OF THIS OCCURRED, I AM JUST GLAD IT HAPPENED IN THE DRIVEWAY AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY. I CALLED AND TALKED WITH CHEVY AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO HELP AND THEN STATED THAT IT WAS VIN SPECIFIC. SO WHICH IS IT NO RECALL OR VIN SPECIFIC? *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY DOORS UNLOCKED AND LOCKED SEVERAL TIMES OVER A PERIOD OF 30 MINUTES. I THEN HEARD LOUD CHIRPS FROM STEREO SPEAKERS AND THEN THE SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC. AT THIS POINT I LOST ALL WINDOW CONTROLS AND AUDIO(DOOR CHIMES, RADIO AND ONSTAR). TO THIS DATE I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE RADIO OR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW CONTROLS BUT STILL NOTICE A SMELL OF MELTING RUBBER OR PLASTIC. I HAVE TWO CHILDREN WITH AUTISM AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE TAKING IT ON FAMILY OUTINGS. *TR
TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES CORRODED THROUGH AND STARTED LEAKING. *TR
I HAD BY BACK HATCH OPEN AND I GRABBED THE DOOR HANDLE TO CLOSE IT. I PULLED IT DOWN AND AS I PULLED IT DOWN I HEAR A POP AND ALL THE GLASS SHATTERED DOWN ON ME WITH THE DOOR STILL OPEN UP IN THE AIR. THREE WEEKS LATER I REPLACED THE WINDOW. (NOT A CHEAP GLASS ALMOST $1000 WITH LABOR TO REPLACE) THE MECHANIC OPENED AND CLOSED THE DOOR AND THE HATCH TO TEST FOR DEFECTS. ALL WENT WELL. I WENT TO CLOSE THE DOOR SO THAT I CAN LEAVE THE MECHANIC SHOP AND I HEARD THE POP AND THE GLASS SHATTERED AGAIN. GMC HAS NO RECALLS FOR THE 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER EXT LS AND I HAVE TO GO GET THIS BACK WINDOW AGAIN. THIS IS A GREAT TRUCK JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS BACK WINDOW. UGHHHH! *TR
AFTER REFUELING THE GAS GAUGE STILL READ EMPTY, BOUNCED UP AND DOWN, GAS GAUGE LIGHT CAME ON, SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON, PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF CAR, TURNED ON CAR- SAME THING - HAS HAPPENED WITH EVERY REFUELING SINCE. ONLY WAY TO KNOW HOW MUCH GAS IS IN CAR IS TO WATCH AND RESET TRIPOMETER- WHICH DOES NOT ALWAYS HAPPEN WITH VARIOUS FAMILY MEMBERS- MAKING IT UNSAFE FOR LONG DISTANCE HIGH SPEED HIGHWAY TRAVEL SINCE YOU CANNOT RELY ON THE GAS GAUGE, OR EVEN KNOW IF SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ACTUALLY MEANS SOMETHING OTHER THAN GAS GAUGE. *TR
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT STORE. UPON ENTERING VEHICLE AND STARTING THE VEHICLE, NOTICED THICK SMOKE COMING FROM DRIVERS DOOR. VEHICLE WAS SHUT DOWN, SMOLDERING STOPPED. REMOVED WINDOW CONTROL MODULE TO FIND MELTED PLASTIC AND EVIDENCE OF HIGH HEAT. *TR *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THERE WAS A SMOKE SMELL COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S DOOR. THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM INSIDE THE MAIN SWITCH DOOR PANEL. AFTER OPENING THE MAIN SWITCH DOOR PANEL, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL OF THE SWITCHES WERE MELTED INSIDE OF THE DOOR. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
REAR BRAKE LIGHTS KEEP GOING AND HAVING TO CHANGE THEM BI WEEKLY. *TR
THE PROBLEMS JUST BEGAN WITH MY CAR WITH THE GAS GAUGE WORKING INTERMITTENTLY AND WITH IN 2 WEEKS I HAD TO CHANGE THE DRIVERS SIDE TAILLIGHT WHICH WAS NOT ONLY BURNED OUT BUT THE HOUSING WAS MELTED TO THE BULB. NEXT WITHIN A WEEKS TIME I WAS IN THE DRIVE THRU GETTING FOOD AND ALL THE GAUGES JUST FLASHED AND THE CAR DIED. UPON TRYING TO RESTART IT SEVERAL TIMES THE LIGHTS FLASHED OFF AND ON; THE DOORS LOCKED AND UNLOCKED THEMSELVES AND THEIR WAS NOT EVEN ENOUGH POWER TO CALL ONSTAR. CHECK FUSES FOUND NO PROBLEMS. STILL WAITING DIAGNOSIS AND GETTING IT FIXED. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW CONTROL PANEL WOULD NOT WORK FOR ANY OF THE WINDOWS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING. I CHECKED THE FUSE AND FOUND IT TO BE BLOWN. I REPLACED IT WITH THE EXACT SAME SIZE AND TYPE OF FUSE. THEN I TRIED TO ROLL UP THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW. THE DOOR WINDOW CONTROL PANEL SWITCH THEN BEGAN TO SMOKE AND THERE WAS THE SMELL OF BURNING ELECTRONICS AND PLASTIC. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE CONTROL PANEL AND REGULATOR HAD FRIED AND WOULD NEED TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. *TR

THE CONTACT LATER REMOVED THE WINDOW CONTROL PANEL AND NOTICED THE PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD SHORTED OUT A FEW COMPOONENTS. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED LITTLE ASSISTANCE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDOWS FAILED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF EVERY LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE MOTOR FOR THE WINDOW AND THE CABLES BURNED OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAIL BLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH. THE FIRE CAME FROM UNDER THE FRONT END. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE ONTO THE SHOULDER AND WITHIN SECONDS THE FIRE SPREAD AND BURNT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. THE FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENT WERE PRESENT. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 115,000.
AFTER A RECENT RAINSTORM, WINDOWS WILL NOT WORK FROM DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SWITCH. WINDOWS WILL GO DOWN AND COME RIGHT BACK UP. THEY NOW ARE WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES THEY WILL GO DOWN AND NOT COME UP, OR GO DOWN AND COME RIGHT BACK UP. VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY WITH KIDS IF THEY LIKE TO PUT THEIR HANDS OUT THE WINDOW WHILE YOUR DRIVING AND IT GOES UP ON THEM; IT'S POSSIBLE THEY COULD GET THEIR HANDS STUCK AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY. *TR
POWER WINDOWS WERE ROLLED UP AND KEY OFF AND VEHICLE UNATTENDED AND LOCKED. LATER IN AFTERNOON AFTER IT RAINED IT WAS REPORTED THE DRIVERS WINDOW WAS DOWN. AFTER CHECKING ON THE VEHICLE THE WINDOW HAD ROLLED ITSELF DOWN SOMETIME WHILE IN AT WORK. THE DRIVERS WINDOW SWITCH WOULD NOT OPERATE. AFTER GETTING ESTIMATE AT GM DEALER(700+) AND BODY SHOP(350 PLUS PROGRAMMING AT GM DEALER), THEY WERE ABLE TO JUMP MOTOR TO ROLL UP WINDOW AND DISABLE SWITCH. HARNESS AND SWITCH WERE STARTING TO MELT AND DEFORM WIRE INSULATION AT DRIVERS WINDOW SWITCH BUT DID NOT CATCH ON FIRE OR MELT TO BARE WIRING. *TR
MY WIFE WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. THE FUEL GAUGE READ THAT THE TANK HAD A LITTLE OVER A 1/2 OF A TANK LEFT. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHE ALMOST CRASHED INTO THE DITCH. WHEN SHE STARTED THE VEHICLE BACK UP THE TANK READ EMPTY. MY WIFE AND KIDS HAD TO WAIT BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN OVER 100 DEGREE WEATHER FOR OVER AN HOUR UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET AWAY FROM WORK AND TAKE HER FUEL. WE WENT DIRECTLY TO THE GAS STATION AND PUT IN $50 OF FUEL AND THE GAUGE STILL READ EMPTY. WE HAVE CONTINUED TO PUT IN FUEL AND THE NEEDLE MOVES BACK AND FORTH AND ALWAYS SETTLES BACK ON EMPTY AND THE NO FUEL LIGHT ALWAYS COME ON. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH FUEL THERE REALLY IS AT THIS POINT. I AM AFRAID TO LET MY WIFE DRIVE THE VEHICLE ANY LONGER. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A REAL BAD SITUATION. IF MY WIFE HADN'T BEEN ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND THEY WOULD'VE CRASHED ON THE HIGHWAY THEY COULD ALL BE DEAD RIGHT NOW. I BOUGHT MY TRAILBLAZER (WHICH I LOVE) IN THE SPRING OF 2012. A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE I CAME TO LEARN THAT THE HORN NO LONGER WORKED. I KNOW THE HORN WORKED WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR BECAUSE I CHECKED IT. I BROUGHT IT IN TO A WELL RENOWNED REPAIR SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEIR FINDINGS AFTER LOOKING IT UP WAS THAT THERE IS A SLIGHT GLITCH WITH THE HORN AND THAT, LIKE OTHER FORMS HAD STATED, THE MORE YOU USE IT THE BETTER CHANCE OF GETTING IT TO WORK. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT HE WAS READING THAT OTHER PEOPLE WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT THE HORNS ON THESE TRAILBLAZERS NEEDED TO BE MASSAGED A LITTLE IN THE CORNER AND THE WOULD WORK AGAIN. HE SAID THEY GOT IT WORKING. I HAVE YET TO BE ABLE TO GET ANY NOISE OUT OF MY HORN AT ALL. WHILE DRIVING DOWN CITY ROAD, I BEGAN TO SMELL A BURNT SMELL. I LOOKED TO MY LEFT AND SAW A LITTLE WISP OF SMOKE FROM MY DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW SWITCHES. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED, SHUT OFF VEHICLE, POPPED THE HOOD AND DISCONNECTED THE POWER TO MY BATTERY. I CALLED A FRIEND WHO IS A MECHANIC AND HE TOOK OUT THE SWITCH CLUSTER. THIS ISSUE STARTED WHEN THE BACK HATCH OF THE TRAILBLAZER WOULD NOT LOCK OR OPEN AND THE REAR WIPER WOULD NOT WORK. AFTER DEALING WITH THIS FOR A FEW MONTHS THE DOORS, WINDOWS AND DRIVER SIDE SEAT STOPPED WORKING. ALSO, THE DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK/UNLOCK WITH THE KEYLESS ENTRY. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I CHANGED THE LGM FUSE (IT WAS BLOWN). ONCE THE FUSE WAS CHANGED EVERYTHING STARTED WORKING EXCEPT THE BACK HATCH. I MANUALLY LOCKED THE BACK HATCH AND CLOSED IT. ONCE THE HATCH WAS CLOSED ALL OF THE DOORS LOCKED AND I COULD NOT OPEN THE TRUCK. I MANUALLY USED THE KEY AND OPENED THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR I COULD HEAR THE ELECTRICAL WIRES BURNING IN THE DOOR PANEL AND THROUGHOUT THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK WAS FILLED WITH SMOKE AND SMELT OF BURNT PLASTIC. LUCKILY I WAS NOT INSIDE THE TRUCK WHEN THE FIRE STARTED BECAUSE NONE OF THE UNLOCK OR WINDOW BUTTONS WORKED. I WOULD HAVE BEEN STUCK INSIDE OF A BURNING TRUCK. I UNPLUGGED THE NEGATIVE CHARGE OF THE BATTERY AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. ONCE THE FIRE WAS OUT I TRIED STARTING THE TRUCK AND IT WOULD NOT START. I WENT THROUGH ALL OF THE GEARS WITH THE TRUCK OFF, I PULLED UP THE E-BRAKE AND THE TRUCK STARTED. ONCE I SHUT THE TRUCK BACK OFF IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS, WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE LIGHTS ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR FOR POWER FEATURES WOULD FLICKER ON AND THEN OFF CAUSING HEATED SEATS TO NOT WORK, WINDOWS COULD NOT GO UP OR DOWN, INABILITY TO POWER LOCK OR UNLOCK. NUMEROUS TIMES THE DRIVE HAS HAD TO CROSS THE CENTER CONSOLE TO ENTER OR EXIT THE VEHICLE WHEN THE DRIVE DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK. TODAY ON 6/1/12, THE PANEL WAS NOT LITE UP AND WOULD NOT ALLOW WINDOWS TO OPERATE, UNLOCK OR LOCK OR HEAT FOR SEATS. AFTER TRYING A FEW MORE TIMES, THERE WAS A SMELL OF FIRE AND SMOKE. (YELLOWISH). THANKFULLY THE CAR WAS IN THE PARKED POSITION AND WE WERE ABLE TO GET OUT, OPEN THE DOOR BY MANUALLY PUSHING THE LOCK BUTTON TO OPEN. WE QUICKLY REMOVED THE POWER MAIN DOOR SWITCH FROM THE DOOR HAND REST WHERE IT WAS APPARENT BY SMELL AND TOUCH OF THE BURNING OF THE EQUIPMENT. *TR
MOST RECENT IS A DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR/WINDOW CONTROLS THAT HAVE COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. CONTROLS HAVE BEEN SPORADIC FOR OVER A MONTH AND HAVE NOW, AND IT STOPPED COMPLETELY WITH THE WINDOW IN THE DOWN POSITION. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY NOT TO EXPERIENCE THE BURNING/MELTING ISSUE OTHERS HAVE BEFORE IT STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER - BUT MY WINDOW IS NOW IN THE DOWN POSITION AND CANNOT BE CLOSED. IN ADDITION TO THE DOOR/WINDOW CONTROLS, THE REAR WINDOW WIPER STOPPED WORKING ABOUT A YEAR AGO, THE FUEL SENSOR WENT OUT OVER A YEAR AND A HALF AGO SO TANK ALWAYS REGISTERS EMPTY AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. (I HAVE RECEIVED THE OFFER FROM CHEVY TO HAVE THE FUEL SENSOR REPAIRED, BUT BECAUSE I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HALF OF THE REPAIR COSTS, I HAVE YET TO HAVE IT DONE -- CHEVY SHOULD PAY 100%, NOT 50%). I'VE ALREADY REPLACED THE TIE RODS ABOUT A YEAR AGO, BUT WAS JUST TOLD THAT THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. I'VE HAD ISSUES WITH THE CAR VIOLENTLY SHAKING @ 60 MPH SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT IT (USED) FROM A DEALER. AFTER QUITE THE RUN AROUND AND FOUR EXTENDED STAYS AT THE DEALERS REPAIR SHOP IT WAS MAGICALLY TAKEN CARE OF AFTER I THREATENED TO FILE "LEMON LAW" PAPERWORK. I'M JUST DONE. *TR THE CONSUMER STATED SHORTLY AFTER, THE WINDOWS CONTROLS FOR THE OTHER THREE WINDOWS BEGAN TO WORK AGAIN SPORADICALLY, EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVER'S WINDOW WHICH WAS PROPPED CLOSED. ON OCCASION, WHEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE WIDOW BUTTON WAS TOUCHED MY MISTAKE, THE WINDOW WOULD MOVE SLIGHTLY UNTIL BEING STOPPED BY THE 2X4. THE CONSUMER FINALLY HAD THE RECALL REPAIRS DONE, AFTER WAITING ON THE PARTS. THE DEALER REMOVED THE 2X4 FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND THE CONSUMER WAS CHARGED $105.55 TO GET THE WINDOW OPERATIONAL AGAIN. UPDATED 05/23/13
LAST SUMMER THE WINDOWS ON MY TRAILBLAZER STARTED ACTING UP. SOMETIME WOULD WORK, SOMETIMES NOT. SEEM TO BE AFFECTED BY THE WEATHER, IF IT WAS RAINING. WOULD STOP WORKING ALL TOGETHER IF IT WAS RAINING, THEN WOULD START TO WORK, WHEN IT HAD DRIED UP. I RECEIVED A NOTICE ON A SAFETY RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE, BUT WHEN I CALLED INTO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED SINCE I HAD NOT REGISTERED IN A LIST OF THE NORTHERN STATES. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED AND DRIVEN FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS IN ONE OF THE NORTHERN STATES. WHY WOULD IT MATTER IF I HAD REGISTERED IT HERE OR THERE. THERE IS STILL A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE WINDOW MODULE. THE RECALL SHOULD FOLLOW THE VEHICLE NOT THE REGISTERED OWNER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DURING THE DAY ALL OF THE SPEAKERS STARTED GOING IN AND OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOR THE LAST YEAR. AS OF NOW ONLY THE VERY FRONT DASH SPEAKERS ARE AUDIBLE BUT VERY FAINT. ON MAY 25,2012, MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING DOWN HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH AND RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT - TIRE SIDEWALL DAMAGE RESULTED AFTER ROLLING TO STOP ON FLAT TIRE. EVIDENT THAT TREAD CLEANLY SEPARATED FROM TIRE BODY IN ONE LOCATION. TIRE HAD APPROXIMATELY 38,000 MILES ON IT AT TIME OF OCCURRENCE. JUST BEEN ROTATED AND INSPECTED ON MAY 2, 2012. LUCKILY NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, MY HEADLIGHTS WILL INTERMITTENTLY TURN OFF ON THEIR OWN. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN FREQUENTLY BUT HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES PER MONTH FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS DURATION. I HAD EXPERIENCED THIS SAME EVENT ABOUT 6 TIMES BEFORE CONTACTING GM DIRECTLY. I CONTACTED GM DIRECTLY DUE TO THE FACT THAT I CONSIDER THIS PROBLEM TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS WHICH TURN ON WHEN DARKNESS IS DETECTED. THIS AUTOMATIC ACTIVATION CANNOT BE OVERRIDDEN WITH MANUAL CONTROLS WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF UNEXPECTEDLY. I ATTEMPTED TO PULL OVER AND MANUALLY TURN THE HEADLIGHTS BACK ON WITHOUT RESOLUTION. I ATTEMPTED TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE'S IGNITION AND RESTART THE ENGINE WITHOUT RESOLUTION. NOTHING I COULD DO WOULD MAKE THE HEADLIGHTS TURN BACK ON. THE HEADLIGHTS SEEM TO HAVE A MIND OF THEIR OWN AND WILL EVENTUALLY TURN BACK ON BUT THIS IS COMPLETELY RANDOM, SOMETIMES TAKING A FEW MINUTES OR MAYBE UP TO 20 MINUTES. A CERTIFIED GM SERVICE CENTER CLAIMED THE ISSUE TO BE WITH THE BODY CONTROL MODULE AND PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE FOR REPLACEMENT. I ELECTED TO NOT HAVE THE DEALER REPLACE THE BODY CONTROL MODULE FOR A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF MONEY. I INSTEAD STARTED SEARCHING FOR ANOTHER SOLUTION. I TURNED TO THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THIS SAME ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED ON THIS MAKE OF VEHICLE SINCE AT LEAST 2002 CONTINUING UNTIL THE LATE 2000'S. GM INFORMED ME OVER THE PHONE THAT THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF THIS ISSUE BEFORE. THE CERTIFIED GM SERVICE CENTER CLAIMED THAT THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF THIS ISSUE BEFORE. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH WILL TELL YOU A DIFFERENT STORY. I ULTIMATELY FOLLOWED THE DIRECTION OF A YOUTUBE VIDEO WHICH DIRECTED ME TO REPLACE A RELAY LOCATED ON THE VEHICLE'S FUSE PLATE. THE COST OF THE PART WAS APPROXIMATELY $30. MY HEADLIGHTS ARE WORKING AGAIN. IN MY OPINION GM SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PART AND NOT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. *TR

A POLICE AND FIRE REPORT WERE FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW STARTED GOING UP AND DOWN ERRATICALLY. NEXT A SMALL AMOUNT OF SMOKE STARTED TO COME OUT FROM AROUND THE WINDOW SWITCH. THEN THE SMELL OF ELECTRIC WIRES BURNING BEGAN. LARGER AMOUNT OF SMOKE BEGAN COMING FROM SWITCH ASSEMBLY. ALL OCCUPANTS EXITED THE VEHICLE SAFELY. DOOR PANEL WAS PULLED FROM THE FRAME. SMALL FIRE STARTED AND BECAME VISIBLE COMING FROM BEHIND DOOR PANEL. FIRE EXTINGUISHER WAS USED TO PUT OUT FIRE. SWITCH ASSEMBLY WAS REMOVED AND CONFIRMED ELECTRICAL FIRE FROM THE SWITCH CLUSTER.
RECENTLY, I FILLED MY GAS TANK & LOW FUEL LIGHT WARNING DISPLAYED AND LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON. SINCE THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON STEADY (NOT BLINKING) MOST OF THE TIME. THE FUEL GAUGE FLOATS BACK AND FORTH NEVER REALLY LETTING YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE STATUS. THE DEALERS AND PUBLIC KNOW ABOUT THIS ISSUE- YET CHEVY REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND FIX THE PRODUCT. IT IS FRUSTRATING & NERVE WRACKING TO NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL YOU HAVE AT ANY GIVEN TIME, AS WELL AS THE CONSTANT WARNING LIGHTS/ CHIMES DURING DRIVING. THIS IS THE SECOND SERIOUS ISSUE I HAVE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE- JUST A MONTH BEFORE HAD TO REPAIR SAFETY ISSUE OF STABILITRAK TURNING ON AT RANDOM, AFTER TWICE IT SLOWED MY VEHICLE- WITHOUT WARNING- ON THE THRUWAY FROM 55 MPH TO ABOUT 20 MPH. I HAD DOCUMENTATION OF 4 TRIPS TO DEALER FOR THIS CONCERN WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP BUT "THE COMPUTER DOESN'T SHOW A PROBLEM" SO 5 YEARS LATER I FINALLY HAD THE CODE SHOW UP AFTER A CLOSE CALL ALMOST ACCIDENT. THIS CONCERN IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET AS WELL & EVEN WITH CONTACTING CHEVROLET & THE NYS ATTORNEY GENERAL THEY STILL ONLY COVERED HALF THE COST OF THE REPAIR. AFTER WORK I WENT TO LEAVE WHEN I NOTICED MY CAR SMELLED LIKE BURNED PLASTIC, I COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT UNTIL I TRIED TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN AND THEY DID NOT WORK. SO I POPPED THE WINDOW COMPONENT OUT AND UNPLUGGED IT, WHICH WAS THE SMELL, THE UNIT MUST HAVE FRIED (MELTED) WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS OFF. RESEARCHING IT, TO TRY AND REPLACE THE PART I FOUND MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF THIS HAPPENING, WHERE FIRES ARE CAUSED BY THIS MODULE. SINCE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM, I'M SURE OTHER COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED. THE FUEL GAUGE IN MY 2006 TRAILBLAZER HAS STOPPED WORKING. I AM CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY ISSUES RELATED TO THIS PROBLEM. AFTER RESEARCHING OTHER COMPLAINTS, THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. FREE! PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS SERIOUS ISSUE AND HELP OUT ALL OF THE OWNERS THAT PURCHASED ONE OF THESE VEHICLES. THANKS. *JS
