THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V151000 (VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER:LINKAGES) AND STATED THAT BECAUSE HE RESIDED IN A WARMER CLIMATE STATE, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE RESIDED IN THE MOUNTAINS IN HIS STATE AND THAT HIS VEHICLE AND OTHERS IN THE STATE NEEDED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER BUT THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WOULD HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED ACCORDING TO THE RECALL, AT HIS EXPENSE. AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE WE NOTICED THAT THE MIRROR WAS DEVELOPING A DARK FILM WHICH KEPT GETTING WORSE. IT IS NOW VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT OF THE MIRROR. IT HAS GOTTEN SO BAD THAT IT IS NOW A SAFETY ISSUE. WE ARE NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ACCIDENT AND SO IT IS NOW PARKED IN THE GARAGE AND NOT BEING DRIVEN.
MY 2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE FOR OVER AN HOUR WHEN MY HUSBAND WALKED IN THE GARAGE AND HEARD A CRACKLING NOISE. HE BEGAN WALKING AROUND TRYING TO FIND THE NOISE AND SAW THE BACK WINDOW OF THE TRAVERSE SLOWING CRACKING. WHEN HE FIRST OBSERVED - THERE WAS NO HOLES - ONLY CRACKING. THE CRACKING CONTINUED FOR UNKNOWN LENGTH OF TIME. TWO HOLES IN THE CENTER FORMED AS GLASS FELL OUT. BY THE NEXT MORNING, ONE LARGE HOLE IN THE CENTER HAD FORMED. THE GLASS APPEARS TO BULGE OUT FROM THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. THE EDGES OF THE GLASS ALL AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE WINDOW ARE GONE. TEMP OUTSIDE WAS AROUND 72 DEGREES. NOTHING UNUSUAL ABOUT WEATHER OR TEMP ON THIS DAY. *TR
