The exhaust system on my 2018 Chevrolet Traverse has failed due to cracking in the exhaust pipe and/or muffler assembly. This appears to be consistent with known issues in similar model years where exhaust pipe brackets separate and cause cracks or holes in the exhaust system. The failure has resulted in excessive exhaust noise and potential exhaust leakage. The dealership has confirmed the issue and recommended repairs costing several thousand dollars but stated my VIN is not included in the existing recall or special coverage. Yes, the vehicle and failed components are available for inspection upon request. The failure of the exhaust system creates a risk of exhaust gases, including carbon monoxide, entering the passenger cabin, which poses a serious health hazard. Additionally, a compromised exhaust system can affect vehicle performance and emissions, and in some cases may increase the risk of fire if hot exhaust gases escape in unintended areas. This issue is especially concerning because it has been identified in other model years of the same vehicle, yet my vehicle is not currently covered, despite experiencing the same failure. This creates an ongoing safety concern for myself, my passengers, and others on the road. The problem been reproduced and confirmed by a certified Chevy dealer.
This vehicle's canister purge valve solenoid has failed multiple times since we purchased it used in 2021. We've taken it to multiple Chevrolet dealerships for repair and the issue has not been fixed. The issue is once the part fails, the vehicle is unable to be filled with fuel completely or it sputters when trying to start and the engine turns off or it stalls right after placing into drive. This causes a safety concern. There are multiple articles all over the internet and social media about the purge valve solenoid specifically in 2018 Traverses with no recalls. This is disappointing!

The approximate failure mileage was 84,000.
Valor Canister Purge solenoid is faulty. After filling it up with gas and start driving the vehicle begins to stutter. After a stop at an intersection the vehicle begins to stutter and shuts off.

Issue has been claimed by many other owners of this make and model but no recalls issued or warranty coverage for known issue. Check engine light came on just as issue began while driving with my family.

THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE: TODAY WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON US 98 IN GULF BREEZE, FL I MADE A LEFT HAND U-TURN IN A 45 MPH ZONE AND THE VEHICLE SUFFERED SEVERE FUEL STARVATION. I STARTED THE U-TURN OUT OF A COMPLETE STOP. EVEN WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FLOORED IT TOOK THE VEHICLE OVER THREE SECONDS TO RECOVER. THIS HAPPENED WITH OVER 3/4 OF A TANK OF FUEL. LUCKILY, I GAVE MYSELF PLENTY OF SPACE WITH APPROACHING TRAFFIC AND I HAD A LEFT HAND TURN LANE TO USE OR ELSE I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS ISSUE HAS ONLY OCCURRED WHEN COMMITTING U-TURNS. THE VEHICLE GAVE NO INDICATIONS TO ANY PROBLEMS. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS ISSUE UP WITH THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AND EITHER THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE IT OR GM IS NOT GOING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM UNTIL THERE IS A LETHAL ACCIDENT.
FUEL PUMP SHUTS OFF WHEN FILLING AS IF TANK WAS FULL. SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES DURING A FILL UP, SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT OCCUR. DEALER STATED THERE WAS GAS IN THE VENT LINE AND CHARCOAL CANISTER, AND THAT THE TANK HAD TO HAVE BEEN OVERFILLED. DEALER ASK STATED THEY BLEW OUT THE LINES AND CANISTER AS A COURTESY, AND IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN, WE WILL BE EXPECTED TO PAY TO REPLACE THE VENT LINE AND CANISTER. WE HAVE NEVER OVER FILLED THE FUEL TANK. AFTER THE PUMP CLICKS OFF WE STOP. IF THERE IS FUEL IN THE VENT LINE AND CANISTER, THERE MUST BE A MISSING/DEFECTIVE PART IN OUR FUEL SYSTEM, EITHER ALLOWING FUEL IN, OR DELAYING FUEL CUTOFF UNTIL IT IS OVERFILLED. I FILLED UP ON 4/28/19, THE FIRST TIME AFTER THE SERVICE, AND THE PUMP STOPPED ERRONEOUSLY 6 TIMES BEFORE FILLING UP THE FINAL 4.5 GALLONS WITHOUT STOPPING UNTIL FULL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TOWED TO JOE BOWMAN CHEVROLET CADILLAC (2455 E MARKET ST, HARRISONBURG, VA 22801, (540) 434-6731) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS DAMAGED. WHILE PERFORMING THE REPAIR, THE DEALER FRACTURED THE TUBE THAT CONNECTED THE FUEL PUMP TO THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THERE WERE THREE MORE FAILURES WITH THE FUEL PUMP THAT WERE CURRENTLY LINKED TO THE ENGINE. THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE TUBE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, A FUEL ODOR WAS DETECTED IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (AUTONATION CHEVROLET ARROWHEAD, 9055 W BELL RD, PEORIA, AZ 85382, (623) 428-8851), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
THE GIST OF THIS COMPLAINT IS THAT THERE IS NO WAY TO LOCK THE GAS FILLER DOOR, SO ANYONE AT ANY TIME CAN OPEN THE GAS FILLER DOOR AND POTENTIALLY ACCESS AND/OR CONTAMINATE THE FUEL. THIS IS A SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. THERE IS NO GAS CAP, EITHER. ITS IS A "CAPLESS" DESIGN, SO ANYONE CAN ACCESS THE VEHICLE'S FUEL SYSTEM.
