NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
On July 31st, while backing up on a clear road in rain the brakes locked suddenly. The brakes applied & a message saying Emergency Parking brake engaged. Must be manually released. This happened twice in a 30 second period before there was enough room for me to pull forward out of the spot. I called the dealership on August 1st to see if this was a known issue and they said no. Brought the car in on August 2nd. They scanned for errors & found a message Lost Communication with Parking Assist Control Module with 9 other error message. They said this was not a known problem and to them it appeared to fix itself but would let me know if there was any way to fix. Car has just been in for regular multi point inspection on July 24th. On August 20th went to get in the car but none of the key fobs would open it. Called two dealerships but neither could come up with answer. Chevy Roadside was called & came to get into the car and ended up jumping it. At that time the battery was tested and it appeared fine. It was recommended to run it for a half hour. I ended up driving it for an hour with no extras on. On August 25th the next day I went to drive it the battery of this 1 year old car was dead. Called the two dealerships to see what could be done & was told to bring it in. Called Chevy Roadside Assistance who dispatched someone to open the car and jump the battery. This person found the battery was not holding a charge & said nothing when I said I was driving it to the dealership. Got 3 houses away & a message that the Brakes have failed. Press hard to brake popped up. In addition the steering locked up. I missed hitting a lady with a kid in a stroller by 6 ft but managed to get it to the curve & with 3 pushes into park. It was towed to the dealership. When it arrived at the dealership the brakes locked up so it would not back up off the flatbed. It had to be forced off. Dealer blames poor battery but can't explain July 31st or why battery readouts say okay.
Was out of town and at that time was in the highway when notification came up advising no brake pad life and brakes started squeaking. Took it to dealership next day and was advised there is a problem with the master brake cylinder which is in nation wide back order. Has been at the dealership since then
noise will develope (sounds like going over rumble strips) than the steering wheel gets a vibration and when you leave go of the steering wheel it begins to shake and becomes more profound (I have video). this also becomes more profound when applying the brakes.
I bought my car May 26th. It started shaking when coming to a complete stop shortly after the purchase. I have taken but back to the shop 3 times and this last one it has been in the shop a month with no end date. The dealership states they don’t know how to go about fixing it.
Experienced severe vibrations while driving and when I got out of the car there was a burning smell coming from inside the driver's side front tire. No warning light or messages on my dash. Brought to the dealer to find that the master brake cylinder is defective and I am currently waiting over a month to have it repaired as the parts are unavailable.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The front and rear brake system is malfunctioning. Both front and rear rotors have developed significant premature heat “hot spots,” causing loud, persistent squealing and excessive heat from the front wheels. It began with the front brakesm July 2025 and as of October 2025 the rear brakes had the same issues. This vehicle is available for inspection upon request. ----- How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This issue involves the primary braking system. The front and rear brakes become excessively hot and produce loud, constant squealing. I am concerned about potential brake drag, caliper malfunction, or premature rotor damage, which could reduce braking efficiency or lead to brake failure. Because this affects stopping performance, it presents a potential safety risk to myself, passengers, and others on the road. ---- Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The Chevrolet dealership confirmed that both front and rear rotors have heat hot spots and advised replacement of the rotors and brake pads. Although I replaced the front break parts as suggested this did not repairthe issues. The vehicle is currently under review by a GM technician, but they have delayed a response sense January 14, 2026. ----- Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes. The vehicle was inspected by a Chevrolet dealership and reviewed by a GM technician. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. --- There were no dashboard warning lights. The primary symptom was loud, persistent squealing from the front and rear brakes and noticeable premature heat spots on all the roters. The noise developed within approximately one year of ownership and at relatively low mileage for a new vehicle.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated indicating brake failure. The contact depressed the brake pedal and stood on the brake pedal and the vehicle stopped. The contact turned off the vehicle. While attempting to restart the vehicle, there was an unknown warning light illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the gear shifter independently shifted into park and the vehicle independently turned off. The vehicle was towed to the dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact stated that the vehicle had been at the dealer for thirty days. The contact was informed that a diagnostic test provided no information of a failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,010. The VIN was not available.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while attempting to open the hatch, the hatch opened and then unintendedly lowered within seconds. The contact stated that her husband had sustained a minor injury to the head while placing groceries in the vehicle when the hatch closed. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the rear hatch motor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000.
I experienced complete brake failure while coming up to an intersection during rush hour. To avoid crashing into the vehicles in front of me I went off the road onto the shoulder and coasted until I stopped. During this “brake failure” popped up on my dash. (I have a picture) I ended up turning the car off and then starting it back up. Everything appeared to be fine, however I was not fine. I called the dealership right away and brought in. They diagnosed it as needing brake master cylinder and it took about 30 days for the vehicle to get fixed. Now I’m experiencing transmission fluid leaking. The vehicle shudders when accelerating.
Incident 1 - Dashboard Electrical Failure Date: June 11, 2025 Mileage: approx. 10,000 Problem: Multiple dashboard error lights activated simultaneously, including false "dead battery" warnings despite the vehicle starting normally. The vehicle could not be shifted into gear and could not be shut off through normal ignition procedures, requiring manual battery disconnection to resolve. Incident 2 - Power Steering System Failure Date: June 12-13, 2025 Problem: Complete power steering failure. Temporary resolution achieved by battery disconnection and reconnection, indicating systemic electrical issues. Incident 3 - CAN Bus Communication System Failure Date: July 6 and 9, 2025 Problem: Check engine light with diagnostic code U0073, indicating Controller Area Network (CAN) bus communication failure - a critical vehicle system malfunction. On July 11, 2025 my wife had the oil changed and the mechanic assured her, “It’s just a glitch ma'am, like a computer. Just restart the car 2 or 3 times.” Incident 4 - Recurring Power Steering Failure Date: July 12, 2025 Problem: “Service ESC and Power Steering”. Power steering system failed again, demonstrating that previous "fixes" were ineffective and the underlying defect persists.
While backing out of a driveway into an unobstructed road with no oncoming traffic from either side nor any pedestrians or cyclists approaching, the automatic emergency braking system applied the brakes and then locked up leaving the vehicle as an obstruction in the road. To disengage the locked brakes required a large amount of pressure on the accelerator pedal bringing the engine RPMs up to a sufficient speed to disengage the automatic emergency braking system. Had there been traffic approaching what would have been an otherwise safe amount of time to bring the vehicle into the flow of traffic would have been insufficient and may have caused an accident. There was no warning indicating any of the vehicle sensors detected an approaching object or obstruction. This is the second incidence of the occurring in the last week.
Brake on driver side front became super hot and started dragging causing the steering wheel to shake. Dealership stated calipers are fine need pins replaced. Pins on back order. In the meantime they cleaned the pins and re-lubed them and said I was good to go until the parts come in. 5 days later same exact thing. Now my tire is discolored (brownish)and my rotor is also discolored and rusted and brake dust all over rim. I seriously concerned with the integrity of the tire, wheel and whole braking system on that side. My computer show 36% front brake pad life on both sides. I have never had a vehicle wear that much in less than 1 year. Now my car sits because it is not safe to drive. DO BETTER GM!!
Cameras stop working suddenly after a start where it feels a connection is going off. Then everything that depends on camera system also goes off. Two visits to the dealership couldn't fix the problem yet.
When a lighter driver is operating the vehicle the seat will move and make a clicking noice causing a safety concern when the vehicle accelerates or stops. This happens only when a lighter driver is operating the vehicle with a weight of around 160 lbs. it does not have the same issue with heavier drivers but does cause concern for the safety of the vehicle in the event something were to happen when operating the vehicle. Have taken to dealership twice with no resolution. Those that were testing the safety of the vehicle were larger than the person who normally operates the vehicle experiencing the problem and no resolution was provided after both of the visits to the dealership.
Coolant hose has broke twice. Happened 4/22/25 and 12/3/2025
We were driving on a street and the vehicle suddenly just stopped. We could not get it out of park. We could not get into neutral it would not shift into any gear and it said transmission needs service. That is such a dangerous thing because luckily it wasn’t a busy street because it just stopped in the middle of the street and we waited there for an hour and a half to get a truck to tow it off
FLUID LEAKING FROM BOLTS ON TRANSMISSION REQUIRING FULL REPLACEMENT
Brakes emitting squeaking and scratching noises. Brakes are spongy. Dealerships are refusing to change the brakes or apply brake grease.
Bought it back in July. Had it taken back that first month for the 3rd row headrest issue. Then the check engine light kept coming on, 1st time they said it was a cylinder misfire code, they rest it and said try getting gas from a different station.. light came on 3 more times, but by the time we took it in, they “can’t replicate the issues”. Then the tire sensors went out, took it in and they had to order a new sensor. Then this past weekend we lost total power steering while driving 40+mph. Then it happened again the next day, but this time we lost complete control, entire car shut down, screens off, no breaks, no power steering, no nothing. We let it coast to a stop then put it in park. Took it to the dealership the following morning. They read a bunch of codes. Said they’d call with an update later that day. Now it’s been 3 days, and they can’t replicate the issues and are at a loss as to why it happened or how to fix it to prevent it from happening again. Said it might be something to do with central computer system.
* What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The breaks continually squeak so loud. They have done this since the first month I had car. The dealership said that they compared it, and it is normal for the car. On paper, they wrote could not replicate, even though they could. It’s so loud and annoying. New car should not sound like this. Tires slide on snow and ice. * How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? In any weather conditions, yes. I have slid on ice many times. I had a near death experience on a snowy morning hiting a slick spot and fish tailing. The tires provided should be better than what they are. Another time last week I drove over melted snow (40 degrees out) must have been ice under, car would not break and I was unable to stop at the stop sign! It skidded through. * Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Break sound has been reproduced and they said they can’t do anything. They documented that they couldn’t reproduce it. That was frustrating. Tires I will share concerns when I return. * Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? * No * Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? * My check engine light has come on at least 3 times. That’s a separate issue with this car. Multiple check engine lights with no known issue to solve at dealership.
Purchased vehicle brand new. Six months and 10,000 miles later vehicle giving codes that say key missing / check for key. Then another that says key not found put key in center console left cupholder. When the key not found error or key missing error comes on the vehicle will not start. Thankfully this issue happened when I was local as this could strand the occupants in potentially dangerous situations (heat/cold weather, remote locations, ect.). This also prevents the vehicle from shifting into neutral for towing purposes, therefore forces the tow company to "drag" the vehicle onto the flatbed and "shake" the vehicle off the flatbed as the wheels are locked. This happened on and off, sometimes once a day and sometimes can not start car at all that day. The vehicle has been at the dealership for TWO MONTHS now as they have not be able to fix the issue. The dealership has been able to reproduce the problem and has confirmed it is a problem. GM has been contacted about the issue as well. This is the exact same issue as NHTSA ID Number: 11645578
DRIVERSIDE TURN SIGNAL HAS GONE OUT 2X WITHIN A YEAR AND ITEM IS NOW BACK ORDERED WITH NO ETA. the first time this happened was 02/2025 the second time 8/2025
Purchased my vehicle brand new in October 2024 and around 3000 miles give or take the front brakes started to squeal. I reported the issue to the dealership on several occasions and was told this is normal due to dust, etc. I have owned 3 brand new vehicles in my lifetime and I have never had this issue with a brand new vehicle with 3000 miles or less on a vehicle; especially a vehicle purchased for almost $60,000. My vehicle currently has 17,000 miles and the squealing continues just as it was at 3,000 miles. My front brakes currently show 18% brake life left on the dash in the vehicle status. This is unheard of for a brand new vehicle to be needing brakes this soon. Which would explain the squealing brakes, they have placed cheap brakes, rotors, etc on this new model. If it weren't for this vehicle status feature showing the life remaining for each component, I could possibly unknowingly experience brake failure and would not have been aware that the brakes were at the end of life so soon; almost less than a year from purchase. This issue needs to be addressed with the manufacturer and looked into before someone driving a brand new vehicle, thinking they still have good brake life ends up killing themselves or someone else due to brake failure.
Following an overnight snow storm, I completely cleared the vehicle of snow and ice including the windshield and hood while running the vehicle to get it to operating temperature. During my morning commute, snow, slush, and water began accumulating on the windshield and froze to the outer four to six inches on both sides. The wiper edges were clear from the night before, as I had raised them off the windshield. They were able to maintain a clear view in the middle of the windshield. I ran the defroster at full temperature, the "HI" setting, with the fan speed at 6 out of 8. The external temperature was 14 degrees Fahrenheit. Driving speeds varied from 30mph on county roads and 65mph on the interstate. The front defroster vent does not run the full width of the vehicle, so there is no way to apply warm/hot air to the outer edges to keep it from refreezing and maintain full visibility. This creates unsafe driving conditions by narrowing the forward view.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact noticed liquid underneath the vehicle where the radiator system was located. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the radiator and coolant system had failed. The radiator and coolant were replaced. After having the repair completed, the contact had the vehicle inspected for the DMV admission test and the vehicle was reported as failed. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who could not find the cause of the failed test. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,000.
The car seat is a spinning seat, the seat is no longer locking into forward position leaving the seat to free spin which could cause death if I were to get in an accident. Nuna states I need to buy a new frame
With only 1017 miles on vehicle, the transmission leaked all of the fluid out. Incident happened on a side street, thankfully not on the freeway as this would have been even more of a safety concern. Vehicle was sent to local dealership for inspection. NO warning lamps or messages appeared before, during or after the transmission fluid leaked out of the vehicle.
I am writing to report a serious safety concern with my newly purchased. I believe this issue, if unaddressed, could lead to accidents. Specifically, when I am stopped at a stop sign with another vehicle behind me and the light changes to green, I begin to drive forward. However, as the vehicle behind me starts moving toward me, my car suddenly and violently applies the brakes. The force is so strong that it feels as if I've been rear-ended. This abrupt braking creates a dangerous situation as it increases the likelihood of me being rear-ended by the car behind me. It is important to note that I am in "Drive" mode and moving forward, not in reverse, so I would not expect the car to brake under these circumstances. This issue is not isolated, and I have experienced similar sudden braking on several occasions, but this scenario is the most concerning due to the potential for accidents. I took the car to the dealership, assuming it might be a programming error. However, the dealership informed me that this is a known issue with this model, but no recall has been issued to address it. I strongly urge the NTSB to investigate this matter further, as I believe it poses a significant safety risk to drivers and passengers. Thank you for your attention to this issue.
Recurring failures related to brake system. When reversing, the rear brake assist system slams on the brakes for no reason even though no obstacles are present. This startles everyone in the vehicle and nearby traffic. On other occasions, the vehicle shows an error on the instrument cluster stating "Rear Brake Assist Unavailable". More recently, a persistent error began appearing on the instrument cluster stating "Service Brake Monitor", indicating a failure of the brake pad sensor. On top of all of this, the brakes are noisy and squeaky to the point where it wakes up my neighbors.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the brakes made a squeaking sound. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The dealer diagnosed that the brakes had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The ABS warning light was no longer illuminated. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, opened a case, and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the message "Brake Assist Failure" was displayed. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact stated upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, the message was no longer displayed, and the vehicle operated as needed. The contact stated while driving 25-30 MPH at the airport, the failure recurred. The contact stated that upon turning off and restarting the vehicle several times, the failure persisted. The messages "Brake Assist Failure" and "Forward Collision Not Available" were displayed, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to drive 5 MPH and pulled over to a safe location. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the brake master cylinder had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer was awaiting the parts to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 1,900.
While driving i was stranded due to the oil pump failing and locking up the engine. Vehicle was towed with 3,333 miles on it. Engine, oil pump and turbo were all replaced after 4 months waiting. 2 weeks after car is fixed the engine is making shuttering noises and is in for a 2nd replacement with only 3,450 miles on the vehicle.
Bought this car on Monday by Wednesday the check engine light went on and had gone off the following day. The next week Friday the check engine light went on and the acceleration was not changing out of gear. Staying at one speed on the highway. Finally got the car in and the car has transmission problems. The car is brand new!!
I am experiencing a recurring battery/charging system detection warning with my vehicle that has not been resolved despite multiple service visits. The warning continues to reappear after the vehicle is returned to me, indicating the issue has not been properly diagnosed or repaired. My vehicle has been in the shop approximately 5 times for this same issue. Each time, I am told the problem is resolved or that they cannot replicate the issue, yet the warning returns shortly afterward. To date, no permanent fix has been provided, and the underlying problem has not been remedied. I have made repeated attempts to work with GM and the dealership, but meaningful assistance or escalation has not occurred. This ongoing electrical issue raises concerns about the reliability and safety of the vehicle, as well as GM’s failure to correct a known, documented problem. I am requesting appropriate escalation and resolution, including further diagnostic intervention by a regional service manager or field engineer, or consideration of alternative remedies if the issue cannot be permanently repaired.
The third row headrests will not fold down. This is not allowing the third row seats to be folded down. Straps are pulled, but headrests do not go down.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle jolted forward with two unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the Forward Collision Avoidance and 4WD Unavailable messages were displayed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the "Rear Driver Side Sensor" needed to be replaced. The contact stated that two different parts for the rear sensor were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,631.
on multiple occasions now this vehicle has applied automatic braking for no apparant reason. the vehicle has applied an extreme braking scenario. And applied the full brakes causing the vehicle to skid and extremely jar the interior passengers. this automatic braking was almost like driving the vehicle into a wall as it was immediately stopped. in the latest instance the vehicle behind me was barely able to avoid running into the rear of my vehicle.
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse includes Front Pedestrian Braking and Rear Cross Traffic Braking as part of its standard Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). However, these systems tend to malfunction on rainy days when the sensors become wet. In such conditions, the vehicle may brake abruptly even when there are no hazards in front or behind. For example, while attempting to drive around a vehicle waiting to make a left turn at an intersection, my Traverse suddenly stopped in the middle of the intersection, incorrectly detecting a potential collision. Another frequent issue occurs when backing out of my driveway on rainy days. The system applies the brakes, mistaking raindrops for obstacles. Due to these recurring problems, I have deactivated the safety systems and now drive without them enabled. This situation not only creates inconvenience for me as a driver but also poses risks to other road users if the vehicle stops unexpectedly in traffic. Additionally, repeated hard braking can lead to premature wear of braking components.
I was stopped at a red light in rush hour traffic in the middle of three lanes. When the traffic light turned green, I pressed the accelerator and the engine revved, but the the vehicle did not accelerate in a normal manner. The CEL came on in the DIC along with a message "Reduced Acceleration. Drive with Care." I was able to slowly change lanes and turn into a parking lot while cars maneuvered around me to avoid a collision. I was unable to exceed 10mph while surrounding traffic was moving approximately 50mph presenting a safety hazard. Per an Onstar On-Demand Diagnostic scan, the PCM indicates a P0746 code. The vehicle was towed to a nearby dealer. The dealer indicated the transmission will be repaired under warranty. There were no warnings (slipping gears, rough shifts) prior to the incident. The vehicle has less than 3200 miles on it.
When turning using signal upon straightening back out the lane change signal activates for the opposite direction I actually turned. Seems to happen on sharper turns than wide turns. I believe this is a safety issue and it looks to others that I may be switching lanes or turning again.
At purchase, I noticed that the brakes felt spongy and were screeching when the salesmen pulled up. The salesmen stated that new brakes always screech due to burned plastic. Weeks later, I scheduled a servicing appointment with Chevy Crews in North Charleston, due to brake screeching, the repairmen told me again that the brakes had condensation on them, so he dusted them off and the screeching would stop in 3 weeks. 3 weeks later I returned again, the salesmen told me that GMC made the vehicles with faulty brakes. My vehicle was seen over 4 times for screeching brakes, thousands of consumers have complained about the same issue, and GMC has failed to act.
With less than 9,000 miles driven on the vehicle, the entire brake system failed as I was driving. I have since learned that there was a faulty master brake cylinder installed when the vehicle was built. No brake fluid was getting to any of the brakes. When the incident occurred, I was able to pump the brake pedal all the way to the floor in order to get the vehicle to stop. I felt the power brakes go out, the service light started flashing on the dash, and several warnings popped up. These warnings included: "Brake System Failure", "Speed Restricted", and "Hard Braking Required". Even with hard braking it was difficult to get the vehicle to stop. I was very lucky that I was not travelling at a high rate of speed and was on a low-traffic road when the incident occurred. Had it been 2 minutes later I would've been on a major interstate and could've put my own and others' lives at risk. The vehicle has been diagnosed by the dealership I purchased it from and will be in their position for the next month while waiting on a new part.
I was driving in the rain and drove through a puddle something I have done many times with previous vehicles. All of a sudden the car stopped accelerating. I would press the gas,the engine would rev, but the car would barely move if at all. I barely made it to a safe location.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to several dealers and the contact was informed that the issue was related to the OnStar feature. The contact called OnStar but was informed that the App was not responsible for the check engine warning light being illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and a reset was performed of the check engine warning light. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted without warning. In addition, the contact stated that upon turning off the vehicle, an abnormal, banging sound was coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined; however, the contact was informed that the front drive axle was leaking. The front drive axle was replaced; however, the failures persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 500.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle shut off while on the interstate, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the driver’s side door became inoperable, with the plastic frame hanging off the door of the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted on the third attempt; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the catalytic convertor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 3,900.
I purchased the vehicle September 2024. The brakes have been squealing every time I drive the vehicle since 2 days after purchasing. I have made several complaints to multiple dealerships who keep saying squeaking is normal on brakes. Brakes squeaking continually is not normal and should not be on any vehicle. GM and Chevy is refusing to fix or replace the brakes or see the issue. This same issue is happening to several vehicles and needs a recall. The brake system can just fail at any given moment since no one knows the issues. Brakes have squeak anytime the car is driven on a brand new vehicle is not normal and they need to be held accountable for correcting the issue. They keep saying nothing is wrong.
Bought 2024 Traverse end of June 2024 from show room at Flow Cheverolet in Salem, NC. In Sept 2024, took it in for glitchy screen/radio black and colorful lines displayed, squeeky brakes, and dashboard rattling when hitting 60+ miles. Chevy fixed the screen but said they could not do anything about brakes or the rattling of the dashboard. March 2025- brakes still squeeked and brake failure message came on, took in they had to order and replace brake sensore. I informed them that when backing up the automatic brakes come on stopping the car when no vehicles are coming would take 3 to 4 tries to back out from driveway but this problem was not addressed. July 2025- check engine came on, was told cylinders 2 injection pulse offset exceeded minimum learning limit suppositely just needed some STP August 2025- check engine came on again took in to Cheverlote they said they needed to order and replace Fuel injection pump because it was faulty, but that day recieved a text from the car saying battery was dieing while at Cheverolet service department. Car has been at the service department for over a week and they still can't figure out why its not holding charge. Battery has been replace twice while at their shop. Most important issue the millage is stating it has 25,400miles but we know for sure we have not traveled or driven but maybe half that millage in the pass year and chevy's mechanic is stating there is no way for them to confirm that. Too many issues for a car bought brand new only a year ago and because of the faulty odameter we only have about 10,000 miles left of warranty.
Vehicle keeps giving codes not even a month after purchased that say key missing check for key. Then another that says key not found put key in center console left cupholder. This has happened multiple times already and the dealership supposedly said the first time it was a programming issue and needed to be reprogramed. They did that and the vehicle did the same thing. Errors for low battery service battery pop up. Along with service keyless start system. When the key not found error or key missing error comes on the vehicle does not start. I have been stranded when this happens because it does not recognize the key therefore the truck wont start at all and has to be towed. The codes usually pop up first then the vehicle does not start. I took it in because I started getting the codes again and again after the vehicle was releasd to me it again did the same. Happened a 3rd time and after several attempts of starting the truck after getting stranded again the 4th time it happened was at the actual dealership when i prayed it would start to get me there. The service write disconnected the batter to clear the codes so he can start it to move the vehicle because it was in his way. Now im being asked by the dealership that the engineers want to know what I am plugging into the vehicle to make it interfere w the vehicle not starting. I filed a claim w gm to have the vehicle swapped out but the dealership has not returned their emails. There was damage like if someone backed into me that thr dealership said knocked off sensors and was causing it to go out of whack. I paid to have everythjng repaired which was told would resolve the issue and a few days after repaired happened again. I was told it was failing all tests. But because the bay the vehicle was on was needed they reset the codes again and now the engineer cannot get the truck to fail.
With 103 miles on odometer, vehicle check engine light illuminated, warning message appeared on DIC regarding reduced acceleration, then vehicle proceed to downshift causing the vehicle to reduce speed dramatically almost causing the vehicle behind to hit my vehicle. Vehicle now does not shift properly and is at over 4500 rpm, while driving at a speed of 55 mph.
My vehicles battery died, camera systems unavailable, cruising systems unavailable, breaking system breaker on clear highway at 55MPH with my kids in the back. The car is faulty!! 8+ months now waiting on a resolution! 7+ service visits now I’m being ignored!!
