Automatic headlight sensor flashes lights on and off even during sunny days
When set to auto headlamps function, headlamp lights begin to flicker/flash on and off randomly while driving in sunny daylight conditions. This could be a distraction for drivers in front of vehicle. Dealership cannot repair problem as they claim not to have a Service Bulletin number from GM.
The automatic lighting control module is malfunctioning and causing my headlights to turn on/off rapidly in multiple different lighting conditions. Weather the sun is up/overcast or even at night if I’m close enough behind a vehicle from the reflection of my headlights it causes the sensor to turn the lights on and off. I was pulled over by a local sheriff the other day because he saw it happening during the day and that’s how I initially realized it was happening. If anything it’s an obvious safety risk for the distraction it causes to not only me but other drivers on the road. And I am always constantly checking the light on my dash to see if my headlights are actually functioning(lighting) when they should be. As another note there is many other people having this same issue that I’ve seen on Trax forums.
When the auto headlight feature is on, the headlights keep flashing even when it is sunny outside. The intellibeam sensor seems to be too sensitive to any deviations in lighting. This could cause issues while driving if people think you are intentionally flashing your lights at them.
Only have had this vehicle about a month but almost every day I drive it during the day if it's even just partly cloudy, cloudy, or raining the autoheadlights just constantly flash on and off. Sensor clearly isn't working properly. If it's completely dark lights come on correctly and if it's very sunny they stay off but anything in between is just a constant flash. Not safe due to sight, but also can cause road rage of other drivers thinking I'm flashing them....
Day light running lights flicker on and off in the afteroon during partly cloudy and sunny days
When it is too windy or rains my blindspot warning light will indicate there is something there when there isn't. I'm unsure of when I really started to notice it and watch for it to occur
The auto lights during the day are defective. They work perfectly at night. On a sunny day they will be on, then turn off when I drive down a road with shade from a tree. Not only is the interior light flashing, my head and taillights do as well, causing concern and distraction for drivers around me. I took my Trax into the dealership shop several times. They changed a sensor, but that did not change anything. The sent a request to GM for a "fix" but there only suggestion, after more than 6 months was to drive a different Trax to show me all of them do that, that that is how they are made. I am just exasperated! Lights should not turn off when you drive under a shade tree, but stay on when it's bright and sunny.
Auto headlights turn headlights ON in sunshine. Then OFF in daytime shade. (when driving down a tree lined road, lights come on when not under tree shade, then off with every tree shade, gives the appearance I am "flashing" my headlights, same thing with underpasses, etc. Lights work properly at night.) Dealership said they had "no idea" what the problem was and would have to contact GM engineers in Korea. It has been 2 months so far with no information from dealer. I have to try and remember to turn AUTO HEADLIGHTS OFF every time I start the car, which also turns DRL off, a safety issue for certain.
