THE ENGINE CRADLE CROSS MEMBER OF MY VEHICLE IS ROTTING TO THE POINT THAT I CAN NO LONGER HAVE THE CAR SAFETY INSPECTED IN PA. THERE IS A SERVICE NOTE FOR A SMALL WINDOW OF PACIFICAS INCLUDED ON A WARRANTY FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT ONLY FOR THE CARS BUILT WITHIN A CERTAIN DATE. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT WILL DO NOTHING TO CORRECT IT. THE CRADLE INCORPORATES THE ENGINE MOUNTS, LOWER CONTROL ARMS, AND STEERING. IF IT IS NOT REPLACED, AND BRAKES WHILE DRIVING, THERE WILL BE A COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I KNOW THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH SUCH A SERIOUS ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT WAS 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE CONTINUOUSLY LOSING AIR. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT AFTER INSPECTING THE TIRES, SHE NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR VALVE STEMS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN VERIFIED THE FAILURE AND REPLACED ALL FOUR VALVE STEMS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
IN JANUARY, THE SUSPENSION ON OUR 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA (PURCHASED 08/2003), SEEMED TO HAVE ISSUES. A WEB SEARCH TO INVESTIGATE, LED ME TO A MUCH MORE SERIOUS ISSUE THAT EFFECTS '04 AND '05 PACIFICAS. I HAD OUR MECHANIC INSPECT THE FRAME AND SURE ENOUGH, WE WERE ONE OF THE MANY AFFECTED. OUR MECHANIC TOLD US THE CAR WAS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE, AND THAT THE COMPROMISED FRAME CAUSED THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL TO SHIFT INWARDS. WE WERE QUOTED BETWEEN 4,000 AND 5,000 DOLLARS FOR OUR REPAIRS. THE CAR NOW SITS IN THE GARAGE AS WE HOPE FOR A RESOLUTION. AFTER IN DEPTH RESEARCH, I UNCOVERED THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS RELATED TO THE ISSUE, TWO NBC NEWS SEGMENTS, AND A PETITION. I ALSO DISCOVER THAT A FEW YEARS BACK, CHRYSLER EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR VEHICLES PRODUCED BETWEEN FEBRUARY AND MARCH OF 2004. HOWEVER, SINCE OUR VEHICLE DID NOT FALL UNDER THIS PROVISION, WE WERE NEVER INFORMED THAT WE MAY HAVE BEEN EFFECTED. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND OPENED A CASE. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO WRITE AN EMAIL TO THE CASE MANAGER THAT CONTAINED ALL OF THE INFORMATION WHICH I UNCOVERED ONLINE (AS IF THEY DIDN'T ALREADY KNOW THE ISSUE EXISTED). THIS PROVED TO BE A WASTE OF TIME, AS WE WERE DECLINED ANY ASSISTANCE BECAUSE OUR VEHICLE DID NOT FALL WITHIN THE EXTEND WARRANTY. WE HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OWNERS OF OUR VEHICLE, WHICH HAS 68,000 MILES, HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT, AND HAS BEEN DRIVEN ONLY BY MY 85 YEAR OLD GRANDPARENTS. APPARENTLY, CHRYSLER HAS MADE A BUSINESS DECISION NOT TO ADDRESS THIS WIDE SPREAD ISSUE. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF OWNERS DRIVING UNSAFE VEHICLES, MANY OF WHICH ARE COMPLETELY UNAWARE THAT THIS ISSUE EXISTS. US, AS WELL AS ALL OTHER PARTIES EFFECTED ARE DUE APPROPRIATE RECOURSE, BUT I FEAR THAT WE WILL HAVE TO CUT TIES WITH OUR VEHICLE BEFORE THERE IS A RESOLUTION. *TR
HUSBAND TOOK CAR IN TO HAVE MOTOR MOUNTS FIXED. HAVE BEEN BAD SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR, ON 1/28/12. ALONG WITH A LOT OF OTHER ISSUES WE DIDN'T UNDERSTAND. AC STOPPED WORKING. STALLED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH., ALWAYS SHOOK AFTER A CERTAIN SPEED, ELECTRICAL, CAR JERKED FORWARD AT A STOP, TIRE PRESSURE ALWAYS READ 2-3 TIRES LOW EVEN AFTER HAVING NEW TIRES PUT ON AND ALIGNED. DEFOG NEVER WORKED. WEIRD SOUND IN FRONT OF SUSPENSION, POWER TRAIN MODULE, ETC., ETC. BUT THE WORST OF ALL IS WHEN WE TRIED TO HAVE THE MOTOR MOUNTS FIXED BACK IN DECEMBER . CAR GUY FIXED MOTOR MOUNTS, HUSBAND DROVE CAR HOME, LATER THAT NIGHT WENT WITH KIDS FOR ICE CREAM, CAME OUT AND CAR WOULD NOT START. HAD IT TOWED BACK, WORKED ON IT FOREVER COULD NOT FIGURE OUT, THEN HAD IT TOWED AGAIN 2 WEEKS LATER, TO ANOTHER SHOP, WHERE THEY SAID THE CAR WAS DONE! THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS SO RUSTED THAT THEY WOULDN'T EVEN LET US TAKE THE CAR, BECAUSE IT WAS SO BAD! NOT SURE IF I AM UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT WOULD HOPE THAT CHRYSLER TAKES CARE OF ALL THE PEOPLE, WHO HAVE ENDURED ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS, AND EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH ALL! BEFORE SOMEONE GETS REALLY REALLY HURT, DIES, OR KILLS SOMEONE ELSE! *TR
THE SUBFRAME IS RUSTED OUT AND THE AUTO HAD ONLY 148500 MILES BEFORE WE WERE INFORMED BY MY REPAIR MAN I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT IS NOT COVERED BUT SOME PACIFICAS ARE COVERED WHICH DOESN'T MAKE SENSE THE SUBFRAME CAUSED THE ENGINE MOUNTS TO FALL OUT AND I AM LUCKY MY 10 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND WIFE DIDN'T GET HURT, AFTER CHECKING THE PROBLEM OUT ONLINE I FOUND OUT THAT MANY OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
CHRYSLER SERVICE BULLETIN: 13-001-10 SERVICE BULLETIN NO.: WB-D-10-34 NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10045080 MOTOR CRADLE HAS RUSTED OUT STRUCTURALLY UNSAFE, WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION MAY CAUSE A SEVERE DANGEROUS ACCIDENT. CHRYSLER HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICAS THAT WERE PRODUCED FEBRUARY 2004 - MARCH 2004. MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN MAY 2004. I HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOMS THE CARS PRODUCED ONLY 30 DAYS PRIOR! MY REPAIR NEEDS TO BE COVERED. *TR
I PURCHASED A PRE OWNED 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA ON NOVEMBER 23, 2013. ON DECEMBER 5, 2013 I STARTED UP MY CAR AND BEFORE I COULD PULL OFF MY GAS HANDLE STARTED GOING UP AND DOWN REALLY FAST, THE GAS PUMP SYMBOL WAS BLINKING ON AND OFF AND IT WAS CHIMING AS WELL. I HAD A HALF A TANK OF GAS. I SAT THERE AND COUNTED A TOTAL OF 3-4 TIMES OF THIS HANDLE GOING UP AND DOWN. IT ALSO DID IT ON DECEMBER 4, 2013 WHEN I STARTED UP CAR, I HAD WELL OVER A HALF A TANK OF GAS. I HAVE A ONE YEAR WARRANTY SO I GOOGLED THIS AND READ STORIES OF ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND SAW A LINK TO THIS SITE TO FILE A COMPLAINT. I AM WONDERING IS IT THE SENDING UNIT, MODULE OR TANKS..WELL THAT IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING. I HATE TO HAVE TO TAKE IT IN AND HAVE THE PROBLEM NOT SOLVED ON STRANDED SOMEWHERE WITH MY CHILDREN. *TR
ENGINE CRADLE IS ROTTED. *TR
THIS IS A GARAGE KEPT CAR, LOW MILEAGE. HAD MECHANIC CHECK CAR OUT AND FOUND THAT THE SUB FRAME HAD MAJOR RUST AND HOLES IN IT. CHRYSLER RECALLED 2004 PACIFICAS THAT WERE MADE IN A 6 WEEK TIME PERIOD AND FIXED THOSE BUT NO OTHERS. IN RESEARCHING THIS MATTER THERE ARE A LOT OF 2004 PACIFICAS WITH THIS ISSUE AND CHRYSLER IS REFUSING TO FIX THEM. *TR
I NOTICED SOME DIFFICULTY WITH STEERING. I PURCHASED AND USED SOME POWER STEERING FLUID. THIS DID NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I WAS DRIVING ON MY OWN STREET WHEN THE STEERING COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR INTO MY YARD. WHEN I HAD THE CAR LOOKED AT I WAS INFORMED THAT THE CRADLE THAT HOLDS THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND THE ENGINE IS FALLING AND THAT IS WHAT DAMAGED THE STEERING. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THIS WILL COST MORE THAN 3000 TO REPAIR. *TR
2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA ENGINE CRADLE RUSTED OUT UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
YET ANOTHER 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WITH A SUB FRAME CRADLE ASSEMBLY THAT IS COMPLETELY RUSTING OUT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DEEMED VERY DANGEROUS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE THREE KIDS UNDER SEVEN, SO I AM GLAD I WAS ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM BEFORE A LIFE-CHANGING CATASTROPHE. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN CHRYSLER. GIVEN THAT CHRYSLER HAS PUT SUCH NARROW PARAMETERS ON THE RECALL, THIS CAR IS NOT WITHIN THEIR GUIDELINES OF THE RECALL. THIS WILL BE THE LAST CHRYSLER PURCHASE EVER. I HAD NUMEROUS RELIABILITY ISSUES WITH A JEEP CHEROKEE AND GRAND CHEROKEE TOO. MY WORD WILL SPREAD TO AVOID CHRYSLER ALTOGETHER, ANYTIME AND EVERY TIME CARTALK COMES UP IN CONVERSATION. *TR
DEALER DISCOVERED RUSTED FRONT SUB FRAME WHILE PERFORMING INSPECTION. THERE IS VERY LITTLE OTHER CORROSION IN THAT AREA OF THE VEHICLE, SO IT MAY BE A DESIGN FLAW. I HAVE SEEN SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON AUTOMOTIVE FORUMS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR UNRELATED REPAIRS, HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS CORRODED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE AND THE ROCKER PANEL WAS COMPLETELY CORRODED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE ENGINE COULD FALL AT ANYTIME AND THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE ENTIRE ENGINE CRADLE AND THE ROCKER PANEL ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER'S SIDES WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,200.
ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED TO THE POINT IT WILL NOT SUPPORT THE ENGINE. *TR
ON SATURDAY 11/2/2013 I TOOK MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE, I WAS ASKED BY THE MANAGER TO COME DOWN INTO THE OIL CHANGE BAY TO LOOK AT THE PASSENGER SIDE FRAME OF MY VEHICLE. HE SHOWED ME WHERE THE FRAME WAS RUSTED AND ROTTEN THROUGH, HE SAID THE TOP OF THE FRAME LOOKED OK FROM WHAT HE COULD SEE; HOWEVER, THE FRAME COULD BUCKLE AT ANY TIME, A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. I ASKED ABOUT THE DRIVER'S SIDE, HE SHOWED IT TO ME AND SAID IT WAS FINE, SOLID AND VERY MINIMAL RUST. BEING CONCERNED I BEGAN DOING RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THERE ARE MULTIPLE INSTANCES LISTED AND REPORTED TO NHTSA AND CHRYSLER. I CALLED A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY VERIFIED ISSUES WITH THE CRADLE RUSTING OUT AND BECOMING UNSAFE AND CHRYSLER DID EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS 150K MILES FOR CERTAIN BUILD DATES BETWEEN MARCH 04 AND APRIL 04, REALLY! MY VEHICLE BUILD DATE WAS 10/03 AND OBVIOUSLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND IT WOULD COST ME MINIMUM 2500 DOLLARS TO REPAIR. I ALSO CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY VERIFIED ONLY CERTAIN VEHICLES WERE INVOLVED IN THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING AS THERE ARE MULTIPLE INSTANCES POSTED OUT HERE AND CHRYSLER WILL NOT TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THEIR ISSUES. I ONLY HOPE THE NHTSA CAN HELP RESOLVE THESE ISSUES FOR THE CONSUMERS WHO HAVE PURCHASED THESE VEHICLES AND CHRYSLER NOW TURNS THEIR BACK TO ALL OF US. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE WHEN THE MECHANIC INFORMED HER THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,008.
ON A SERVICE DATE I WAS NOTIFIED THAT MY ENGINE CRADLE FRAME HAD DETERIORATED SO BAD THAT FAILURE FROM THE FRAME WAS IMMINENT. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT RUST WAS UNUSUAL FOR SUCH A EARLY MODEL VEHICLE. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH THAT THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL ON 2004-05 CHRYSLER PACIFICA FOR ENGINE CRADLE FAILURE. I WENT TO MY NEAREST CHRYSLER DEALER AND WAS TOLD MY CAR VIN NUMBER DIDN'T SHOW ANY RECALLS. I LATER CONTACTED CHRYSLER'S HEADQUARTERS AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE DIDN'T MATCH THE CRITERIA BECAUSE IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN MARCH OF 2003. I STATED BUT I PURCHASED A 2004 AND MY TITLE STATES 2004. THEY SIMPLY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THESE ENGINE CRADLES AND FOUND A WAY NOT TO REPAIR MINE. *TR
WAS WARNED THAT ENTIRE FRAME US ROTTED TO A POINT WHERE IT WILL BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITHIN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS. I HAVE AN 04 PACIFICA WITH 165,000 MILES ON IT TO DATE. I WAS WARNED ABOUT 5K MILES AGO BUT HE WASN'T AS CONCERNED NOW THAT THEY SEE HOW FAST IT IS WEAKENING. SAD... I WAS SO HAPPY WITH MY CAR FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS... *TR

AS OWNING THE 2004 PACIFICA FOR NOT EVEN A YR .WE HAD A NOISE AS WE WERE TRYING TO FIND OUT THE PROBLEM A FRIEND HAD NOTICE A HUGE RUSTED HOLE IN THE SUBFRAME .AS I EMAILED A PICTURE TO THE DEALER THEIR ANSWER WAS "WE ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM." 6/25/14 I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THIS ! WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED OF THIS WHEN I BOUGHT IT AND HOW IN THE WORLD DO THEY LET THIS PROBLEM GO !!!! I HAVE NO OTHER CAR AND DRIVE W TWO CHILDREN EVERYDAY.IT IS A TICKING TIME BOMB!!!! *TR
WHILE HAVING MY VEHICLE CHECKED FOR A POWER STEERING LEAK AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, I RECEIVED CALL FROM MECHANIC THAT IF THERE WAS ANY WAY POSSIBLE THAT I CAN COME DOWN TO THE SERVICE STATION BECAUSE THE PROBLEM WAS BIGGER THAN THE LEAK. ONCE THERE HE SHOWED ME THE SERIOUS RUST THROUGH ON SUB FRAME RAILS AND ENGINE CRADLE WITH NOTICEABLE CRACKS GOING UPWARD ON SUB FRAME. HE STATED THAT THE CAUSE TO MY POWER STEERING LEAK IS DUE TO THIS SUB FRAME BEING IN THE CONDITION IT IS AND IT'S VIBRATION. HE SUGGESTED THAT I CONTACT CHRYSLER FOR A RECALL BECAUSE HE KNOWS OF THE SAME PROBLEM ON HONDA'S & TOYOTA'S THAT WERE ALREADY RECALLED. AFTER READING THE FORUMS AND SEARCHING FOR A RECALL THERE IS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT UNFORTUNATELY I FALL UNDER THE STATE OF NJ WERE THIS STATE IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS AND A SAFETY RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED RIGHT AWAY. WITH SO MANY COMPLAINTS I WILL MOVE FORWARD AND START A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT FOR NOT ISSUING A FULL SCALE RECALL TO ALL 2004 PACIFICA OWNERS IN EVERY STATE. THEY CLEARLY RECOGNIZE THE DANGER IN THEIR FAULTY DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING YET STILL REFUSE TO ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL BY ONLY PROVIDING AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO SOME PACIFICA OWNERS. THIS IS A SERIOUS DANGER TO MY FAMILY AND A FATALITY WAITING TO HAPPEN. *TR
CONTROL ARM FAILURE DUE TO SEVERE RUST PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE CRADLE. *TR
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS 2004 PACIFICA. THE FRONT ENGINE CRADLE IS CORRODED SEVERELY WITH THE WELDED SEAM HAVING AREAS OF SEPARATION AS WELL AS RUST THROUGH HOLES IN SEVERAL AREAS. CHRYSLER HAD A RECALL FOR A NARROW BAND OF VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN FEB. 23, 2004 AND MARCH 31,2004. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED JAN. 12, 2004 BEFORE THE WINDOW OF THE RECALL. FAILURE OF THE CRADLE COULD RESULT IN THE ENGINE DROPPING FROM THE CAR CAUSING A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. IT APPEARS CHRYSLER RESPONDED WITH A TOKEN RECALL THAT DOES NOT ENCOMPASS ALL VEHICLES EFFECTED. I HAVE MADE THREE ATTEMPTS TO HAVE CHRYSLER CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, OR OFFER SOME PARTIAL COMPENSATION WITH NO SUCCESS. I VIEW THIS AS A SEVERE SAFETY RISK WHERE CHRYSLER HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT THEY ARE FAILING TO ADDRESS ADEQUATELY. *TR
CHRYSLER HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE SUB-FRAME CRADLE SUPPORTING THE ENGINE. IN NORTHERN AREAS THESE FRAMES ARE RUSTING THROUGH CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. CHRYSLER HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS /150K MILES, BUT ONLY APPLIED THIS TO A SMALL BAND OF VEHICLES PRODUCED BETWEEN FEB.23,2004 AND MARCH 31, 2004. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED JAN.12, 2004 AND HAS THE SAME SAFETY PROBLEM. I HAVE SENT SEVERAL LETTERS TO CHRYSLER REQUESTING THEY TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE RECEIVED NEGATIVE RESPONSES. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. IN MY LAST REQUEST TO CHRYSLER I ASKED THEM TO COMMIT TO ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE ( I SENT MULTIPLE PICTURES). CHRYSLER RESPONDED 5/12/14 THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO CONSIDER THIS PROBLEM WARRANTY, BUT THEY DID NOT RESPOND TO THE SAFETY QUESTION. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO TALK TO SOMEONE AT NHTSA ABOUT THIS ISSUE. *TR

DURING ENGINE WARNING LIGHT INSPECTION AT HERB CHAMBERS CHRYSLER IN MILLBURY MA THE TECHNICIAN FOUND THE FRONT ENGINE CRADLE SHOULD BE REPLACED DUE TO ROT. CHRYSLER WAS CONTACTED TO FIND OUT IF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR 10 YEARS/150,000 ON THE ENGINE CRADLE APPLIED TO THIS VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT IT WAS NOT. *TR
I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN FOUR ACCIDENTS IN THE PAST WEEK AND A HALF DUE TO MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS AND ROADS WITHOUT WARNING. AS I ACCELERATE THE CAR STARTS TO HESITATE, SPUTTER AND THEN JUST DIES OUT. THE LAST TIME IT DID THIS IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD WITH CARS GOING BY AT 50MPH, I HAD TWO GOOD SAMARITANS AND TWO POLICE OFFICERS THAT WERE NEARBY HELP ME TO SAFETY WHERE I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO MY HOME WHERE IT SITS TODAY. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, IT SAID BAD CRANKSHAFT SENSOR, SO I REPLACED IT. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED IT SAID BAD CAMSHAFT, SO I REPLACED IT. THE THIRD TIME IT HAPPENED IT SAID BAD CAMSHAFT SENSOR AGAIN, SO I REPLACED THINKING I BOUGHT A DEFECTIVE ONE. THIS DID NOT WORK EITHER AS THE CAR ENDED UP STALLING FOR GOOD TWO DAYS AGO. I KNOW THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS IN THE PAST FOR THIS EXACT STALLING CONDITION OF THE ENGINE, BUT CHRYSLER SAYS MY CAR DID NOT SHOW UP AS ONE OF THE RECALLED ONES. UPON INSPECTION FOR NOISE RELATED TO THE FRONT STRUTS, I NOTICE THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE, LEADING EDGE WAS RUSTED ALMOST COMPLETELY AWAY. I PARKED THE VEHICLE AND LOOKED ON "HTTPS://VINRCL.SAFERCAR.GOV/VIN/VINLOOKUP" WEBSITE AND ENTERED THE VIN ([XXX]), BUT DIDN'T FIND A RECALL NOTICE. I HAVE HAD NO FEWER THAN 4 INDIVIDUALS WHO PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 1994 PACIFICA TELL ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL AND THAT THE DEALER FIXED THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE CRADLE WITH A NEW ONE. CAN ANYONE HELP ME? I AM HESITANT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN ITS CURRENT CONDITION AND HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY 2 MECHANICS NOT TO. WHEN I BOUGHT IT I DROVE IT 20 FEET TO GAS STATION. THE GAS TANK SAID I HAD HALF A TANK OF GAS. ONCE I WAS DONE I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND IT SAID I HAD NO GAS! I CALLED THE GUY WHO SOLD IT TO ME AND HE SAID IT JUST TAKES TIME FOR IT TO REREGISTER THAT I FILLED IT UP SO I DROVE IT BACK TO HIM TO SHOW HIM WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT WHEN HE GOT THERE IT SAID I HAD HALF A TANK AND HE TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT HOME I WOULD BE FINE! WELL ON THE WAY HOME IT SAID I HAD 20 MILE TILL EMPTY BUT THE LAST THING IT SHOWED ON GAS TANK WAS THAT I STILL WAS AT HALF TAKE SO I FILLED IT UP AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY BROTHERS WHICH IS 35 MILES FROM FARGO TO HAVE HIM SEE IF HE COULD FIX THE PUMPS BUT HE COULDN'T SO I GOT BACK ON INTERSTATE GOIN 75 MPH TO GO HOME AND THE GAS LIGHT FLICKERED AND THE CAR WENT FROM 75 TO 0 IN LIKE 2 SECONDS. RESULTING IN MYSELF BASHING MY HEAD ON STEERING WHEEL AND NO AIR BAGS WENT OFF EITHER! MY HUSBAND CAME TO GET ME AND BROUGHT GAS CANS TO GET ME ENOUGH GAS TO MAKE IT TO A GAS STATION! IT TOOK US 58 MIN EXACTLY TO FILL THE TANK COMPLETELY FULL SO I COULD MAKE IT BACK HOME. SO THE NEXT DAY I CALLED BACK AND THEY EVENTUALLY HAD ME TAKE IT TO LUNDES IN FARGO TO FIX THE GAS TANK WHICH TOOK 1 MONTH ALMOST 2, SO WHEN I GOT IT BACK MULTIPLE TIMES IN BETWEEN THAT TIME IT WAS STILL HAPPENING! FINALLY THEY FIX IT EXCEPT THE FACT THAT A YEAR LATER IT'S HAPPENING ALL OVER AGAIN! WHICH WAS 5 DAYS AGO ON MY WAY TO JAMESTOWN WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR! I HAVE CALLED MANY OF PLACES AND NOBODY KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT. IF I GO BACK TO LUNDES THEY SAID THEY HAD NO IDEA WHY IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN! AND HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE THEM TO FIGURE IT OUT! ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED A RECALL ON THIS, HOWEVER IT AFFECTS A VERY NARROW WINDOW OF MANUFACTURE DATES. MY VEHICLE FELL A FEW WEEKS OUT OF THIS DATE. THE DEALERSHIP, WALSER CHRYSLER IN HOPKINS, MN SAID THEY WERE UNAWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND DECLINED TO HELP. I HAD IT REPAIRED AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. 2004 PACIFICA HAS A CLICKING NOISE AND HAD IT CHECKED OUT AND IT IS THE CRADLE ASSEMBLY& REAR ENGINE MOUNT IS BAD. IT IS RUSTED AND CRACKED. ALSO HAS ALOT OF SUSPENSION ISSUES. ENGINE GETTING READY TO FALL OUT. *TR
I WAS HAVING MY VEHICLE INSPECTED AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTING. I PURSUED THIS PROBLEM ON LINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A RECOGNIZED PROBLEM WITH 2004 PACIFICA'S AND THAT CHRYSLER HAS OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO MANUFACTURES DEFECT. HOWEVER THERE IS ONLY A ONE MONTH PERIOD (IN-SERVICE DATE) THAT APPLIES TO THE WARRANTY. IT IS APPARENT THAT THIS IS A COMMON SAFETY PROBLEM THAT COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY AND CHRYSLER NOT ONLY MADE NO ATTEMPT TO CONTACT BUYERS, BUT ALSO FAILS TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE MANUFACTURES DEFECT. *TR
