PURCHASED USED 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA AUG 2010 AND ABS LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY SINCE THAT TIME BUT GOES OFF WHEN THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF. BRAKE PADS REPLACED JAN 2011. MARCH 2011 BRAKES STARTED GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. HAVE HAD THEM CHECKED BY TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WITH THE ABS LIGHT UNLESS THE LIGHT IS ON WHEN THEY ARE LOOKING IT OVER. MY BRAKES GOING TO THE FLOOR HAPPENS AT LEAST 4 TO 5 TIMES A WEEK. I AM TRYING TO BE VERY CAUTIOUS IN DRIVING BUT AM STILL VERY CONCERNED THAT I MAY BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH MY BRAKES FAILING ME. *TR
THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE. THE PEDAL HAS TO BE PUSHED DOWN WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE IN ORDER FOR IT TO RELEASE, CAUSING A FORCEFUL REACTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC FOR AN OIL CHANGE WHEN HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS CORRODED AND A NEW FRAME WAS NECESSARY TO DEEM THE VEHICLE SAFE TO DRIVE. THE DEALER DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
CAN'T RAISE THE DRIVER SEAT BACK REST AFTER IT WAS LOWERED TO MAXIMUM. *TR
THE GAS PEDAL ON MY 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING MODEL STICKS UPON ACCELERATION FROM IDLE OR COLD START. IT ALSO HAS A TENDENCY TO BE HARD TO PUSH AFTER DECELERATION TO ACCELERATION. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME GOING FROM IDLE TO ACCELERATION AND APPROXIMATELY 50% OF THE TIME WHILE RUNNING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 10 MPH WHEN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS CORROSION NEAR THE ENGINE CRADLE AND MOTOR MOUNTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
I HAVE A 2005 CHYRSLER PACIFICA. THE GAS PEDAL IS STICKING. IT STICKS HARD ENOUGH THAT YOU HAVE TO FORCEFULLY PUSH THE ACCELERATOR PEDDLE DOWN. THIS CAUSES UNWANTED RAPID ACCELERATION! WE PURCHASED A USED 2005 PACIFICA IN 2009. IT HAS GONE THROUGH 3 CATALYTIC CONVERTERS, 6 OXYGEN SENSORS AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT NEEDS TO BE DONE AGAIN. THE GAS PEDAL STICKS REQUIRING ONE TO STOMP ON IT TO GET IT TO GO DOWN SOMETIMES. BIG SAFETY CONCERN. IT HAS LOST IT'S POWER STEERING AND ACTED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO DIE ON FOUR OCCASIONS WHEN TURNING SHORTLY AFTER BEING STARTED. WE OWE TWICE WHAT THIS CAR IS WORTH AND HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO. IT GOES THROUGH OIL LIKE MAD TOO. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT'S NORMAL. A QUART EVERY OTHER WEEK IS NOT NORMAL. THE TAILPIPE IS BLACK. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO UNLESS THEY CONTINUE REPLACING THE 1000 DOLLAR PARTS. THERE HAS BEEN NO WORD FROM CHRYSLER SO FAR. I SPOKE TO A FRIEND OF THE FAMILY WHO TEACHES CAR REPAIR AND HE SAID THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A SERIOUS ENGINE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND IT WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 80,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED. THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING, BUT THEN IT WOULD START RESTART. ON JANUARY 13, 2011, THE VEHICLE STALLED COMPLETELY AND DID NOT RESTART. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE POWER CONTROL MODULE FAILED. THE DEALER STATED THAT RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 06V432000 FOR THE POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM, PCM) HAD BEEN REPROGRAMMED IN 2007. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THE PREVIOUS OWNER, WHICH WAS A RENTAL CAR COMPANY, HAD THE RECALL REPAIR PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT MADE A DECISION REGARDING REPAIRING THE VEHICLE A SECOND TIME. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED, BECAUSE THEY WERE NEVER SHOWN ANY RECORDS OF THE REPAIR BEING MADE. THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN AT THIS TIME. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 105000.

WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS SEVERELY RUSTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT SHE HAD HEARD NOISES FROM THE ENGINE IN THE MONTHS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 62,000.
HAVE A CLUNKING/POPPING NOISE IN THE FRONT END WHEN GOING OVER SMALL BUMPS OR HOLES. HAVE TAKEN IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE COULDN'T VISIBLY FIND THE CAUSE. CHECKED ON THE INTERNET FOR ANYONE ELSE WITH THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH MULTIPLE ISSUES EFFECTING THE FRONT SUSPENSION. *TR
2005 PACIFICA STALLS WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR MAKING SLOW TURNS. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WITH 49,500 MILES, MANUFACTURED IN JUNE 2005. ON THREE (3) OCCASIONS WHILE IN A LOW SPEED LEFT HAND TURN THE CAR HAS STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FIRST OCCASION WAS 2 MONTHS AGO, THE SUBSEQUENT STALLS OCCURRED OVER THE PAST TWO (2) WEEKS. UPON COMING TO A STOP AND PLACING THE CAR IN PARK THE ENGINE RESTARTS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. *TR
MY 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAS BROKEN MOTOR MOUNTS AND IT SEEMS THAT IT IS VERY COMMON IN THIS VEHICLE, I WONDER WHY NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO REMEDY THIS WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR. *TR
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE. . THE ORIGINAL COMPLAINT CAN BE FOUND UNDER ODI ID NUMBER 10362111. THAT COMPLAINT DESCRIBED THE PERIODIC FLICKERING OF ANY ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT THAT WAS ON (LIGHTS, RADIO, HVAC) AND THE INTERMITTENT ABS AND BRAKE ALARMS THAT MAY FOLLOW. . ON ONE OCCASION SINCE FILING THAT COMPLAINT, ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT TURNED OFF. WHILE DRIVING IN THE DARK, THE FLICKERING OF THE LIGHTS STARTED RESULTING IN THE ALARMS ALREADY MENTIONED. THEN ALL EQUIPMENT TURNED OFF - HEADLIGHTS, DASH LIGHTS,CLOCK, RADIO, AND THE HEATING SYSTEM. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE, PLACE IT IN PARK, AND IT RESTARTED. ALL OF THE SYSTEMS THEN WORKED SATISFACTORILY FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE 30-MINUTE TRIP. . ON OCCASION, WHEN THE ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT STARTS TO FLICKER, YOU CAN HEAR WHAT SOUNDS TO BE ELECTRICAL ARCHING. IT IS DIFFICULT TO HEAR WHERE THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE IS. TO THE PASSENGER IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. TO THE DRIVER, THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I BELIEVE THE ARCHING IS BEING PICKED UP BY THE RADIO AND AMPLIFIED BY THE RADIO THEN BROADCAST THROUGH THE SPEAKERS. *TR
MY CHRYSLER PACIFICA 2005, HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS PEDAL. IT IS STICKING WHEN I WANT TO ACCELERATE. I HAVE TO PUSH IT REALLY HARD TO UNSTICK THE PEDAL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AND COMING TO A STOP ONCE I PRESSED ON THE GAS TO START AGAIN THE CAR WOULD MAKE A BUCKING MOVEMENT AND THEN PROCEED TO MOVE ON AS NORMAL. WELL ONE DAY CAR STARTED TO OVER HEAT AS OIL GAUGE RAISED, SO PULLED THE CAR OVER AND LET IT COOL DOWN. WENT TO LOCAL GAS STATION TO PICK UP COOLANT AND POURED IT IN AND THEN STARTED CAR TO SEE THAT IT WAS ALL GUSHING OUT THE FRONT END. COULD NOT DRIVE IT SO HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL GARAGE FOR REPAIR. COME TO FIND OUT THAT A FRONT AND REAR MOTOR MOUNT HAD BROKEN CAUSING THE MOTOR TO SHIFT SLIGHTLY EVERY TIME I PRESSED THE GAS WITH THIS MOTOR SHIFTING IT WENT OVER ENOUGH TO LOOSEN AND UNDO THE RADIATOR HOSE WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO OVERHEAT. THE FRONT AND REAR MOTOR MOUNTS WERE REPLACED, BUT IT SEEMS THERE MAY BE MORE UNDERLYING ISSUES DUE TO THE MOTORS MOVEMENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR A ROUTINE INSPECTION WHEN HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT SUB FRAME HAD BECOME RUSTED AND CORRODED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED WHO ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE OR THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
GAS GAUGE DROPS TO EMPTY FROM 1/2 TO 3/4 TANK INSTANTLY; OCCASIONALLY RETURNS TO 1/2 FULL WITHOUT NOTICE. $10 GAS TAKES GAUGE FROM EMPTY TO 1/2 FULL. NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH GAS IS IN CAR. THEN ABOUT A WEEK AFTER THIS STARTED, AT 75000 MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON DASH. TOOK TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC RUN, CAME UP, "DEALER SPECIFIC CODE". VERY SIMILAR TO OTHER COMPLAINTS NOTED ON THIS PAGE. *TR

THE ENGINE RESTARTED AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED. THE IDENTICAL FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN THREE DAYS AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE CONTACT WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V432000 (POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: CONTROL MODULE, TCM, AND PCM). THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,775.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE TIRE GARAGE AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE WHEEL WAS CRACKED. THE WHEEL WASN'T REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WILL BE CONTACTED. THE VIN WASN'T AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 139,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 10 MPH WHEN HE SMELLED A BURNING ODOR FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO LOOK UNDER THE HOOD AND DISCOVERED THAT A FIRE HAD IGNITED IN THE ENGINE AND ALSO UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED FROM THE SCENE. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED FOR THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AS HE WAS BRAKING TO A COMPLETE STOP, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE HEARD FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE FAILURE AND REPLACED THE MOTOR MOUNTS. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS WERE REPLACED AT LEAST THREE TIMES BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECUR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED A FOURTH TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE RECURRING ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 142,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS INDICATOR WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INTERMITTENTLY AND THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE TO STOP WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE MODULE CAUSED THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE BRAKES WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR WHEN APPLIED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKE MUST BE PUMPED PRIOR TO STOPPING. THE BRAKES WOULD SOMETIMES CATCH WHEN APPLIED AND LOCK UP. THE BRAKE PADS AND SENSORS WERE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL UPON ACCELERATION AND THERE WAS A SLIGHT KICK COMING FROM THE FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE FRONT BUMPER WAS LOOSE. ALSO, THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE UNDERNEATH THE ASHTRAY; THE PLASTIC SHOWED SIGNS OF MELTING AND THE LEATHER ON THE DASHBOARD SHOWED SIGNS OF BEING PARCHED OR SMOKED. THE SHIFT GEAR WOULD SOMETIMES BE TOO HOT TO TOUCH. UPDATED 09/07/11
ENGINE MOUNTS ARE BAD - ONE IS MISSING. THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY PACIFICA OWNERS. ABS LIGHT CAME ON - THIS IS HOW IT WAS DIAGNOSED. WE HAVE ONLY DONE URBAN/HIGHWAY DRIVING WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD IN SALT LAKE TODAY ON A DOWNHILL STRAIGHTAWAY AND OUR 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA COMPLETELY STALLED. ALL ELECTRONICS TURNED OFF. ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKES TURNED OFF. SHE HAD TO PUSH THE BRAKES VERY HARD TO GET THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE STOP AND COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER A BRIEF REST, SHE WAS FINALLY ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND CONTINUE HER JOURNEY, BUT I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE WITH MY WIFE AND CHILDREN IN THIS CAR. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THERE ARE NO WARNINGS OR RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE. *TR
INTERMITTENT BRAKE AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS AND THE ALARM CHIME. THE LIGHTS WILL COME ON AND OFF VERY QUICKLY, SOMETIMES TOO QUICK TO NOTICE. THE ALARMS ARE ALWAYS PRECEDED BY THE FLICKERING OF ANY ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT THAT MAY BE ON AT THE TIME. IF THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON, THEY WILL FLICKER AS IF GOING OFF. IF THE RADIO IS ON, THE SOUND WILL GO OFF UNTIL VOLTAGE IS RESTORED. HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER SEVERAL TIMES. THEY ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. NO CODES ARE DISPLAYED FOR THEIR COMPUTER. THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT THAT DID NOT HELP. THE ACTUAL BRAKES SEEM TO BE UNAFFECTED. HOWEVER, WITH THE FLUCTUATION OF VOLTAGE AND THE DIMMING OF HEADLIGHTS WHEN THIS HAPPENS, IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR MAY TURN OFF. EVENT HAPPENS ANY TIME - DAY OR NIGHT. SOMETIMES THE CAR CAN BE DRIVEN AND THIS DOES NOT OCCUR. APPEARS TO BE TOTALLY UNPREDICTABLE. *TR
THIS IS IN REGARDS TO A 2004-2005 AWD CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THERE IS TSB 21-020-05 OUT ON THE TRANSFER CASE (PTU). THIS VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THE PROBLEMS STARTED OCCURRING. CHRYSLER RECOMMENDS REPLACING THE PTU IF MAKING NOISE. CHRYSLER WAS CONTACTED ON THIS PROBLEM BY THE CONSUMER, AND WAS DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE IN REPAIRING THIS PROBLEM. THEY SITE IT AS NORMAL 'WEAR AND TEAR' OF A VEHICLE. WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE ON A MAJOR COMPONENT ON A VEHICLE, THIS SEEMED TO BE AN EASY WAY OUT FOR CHRYSLER TO PASS THIS PROBLEM OFF TO THE CONSUMER. THE ABS LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON IN MY 2005 PACIFICA SO I THOUGHT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BREAKS SO I GOT THE FRONT BRAKES REPAIRED AND THE PROBLEM STOPPED FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS, THEN IT STARTED AGAIN SO I GOT THE BACK BRAKES DONE AND THE SAME RESULTS, SO FINALLY I TOOK IT BACK TO THE CAR LOT THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM AND THEY CLEARED THE CODE BUT THE NEXT DAY THE SAME RESULT. DIAGNOSIS - REPLACE MOTOR AND TRANNY MOUNTS 9/23/2009. IN JUNE OF 2010 CAR IS IN THE SHOP BECAUSE I HEAR A CLUNKING EVERYTIME I ACCELERATE FROM A DEAD STOP. DIAGNOSIS-REPLACE MOTOR MOUNTS. IT IS THE END OF AUGUST AND I'M HEARING THE CLUNKING NOISE, SO I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY ARE TELLING ME ALL THE MOTOR AND TRANNY MOUNTS ARE BROKEN. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.

I OWN A 2005 PACIFICA TOURING EDITION. A COUPLE MONTHS AGO IT STALLED OUT AND SAID I WAS OUT OF GAS. I FIGURED SOMEONE MIGHT HAVE SUFFERED THE GAS FROM MY TANK SO I WENT AND FILLED UP AND IT ONLY TOOK 7 DOLLARS OF GAS. TANK READ HALF TANK. WITHIN 50 MILES, CAR STALLED AND SAID IT WAS EMPTY AGAIN. WENT TO GAS STATION AGAIN AND IT ONLY TOOK 12 DOLLARS OF GAS. THE LAST STRAW WAS I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE AND IT STALLED IN THE FAST LANE GOING UP HILL. WE ALMOST GOT HIT BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. WE DRIFTED BACK INTO MEDIAN AND HAD CAR TOWED TO THE SHOP. THEY SAID NOTHING IS WRONG EXCEPT FOR THE FACT I WAS OUT OF GAS BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY LEAKS. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR TURNS OF. I HAD MY NIECE IN THE CAR. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T MOVE. I COULD'VE CRASHED AND CAUSED A MAJOR FATAL ACCIDENT. I WAS HAVING MY VEHICLE INSPECTED AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTING THROUGH. I CHECKED OUT THE PROBLEM ON LINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A RECOGNIZED PROBLEM WITH 2004 PACIFICA'S AND THAT CHRYSLER HAS OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO MANUFACTURES DEFECT. HOWEVER THERE IS ONLY A ONE MONTH PERIOD (IN-SERVICE DATE) THAT APPLIES TO THE WARRANTY. YOU CAN PUT YOUR FIST THROUGH THE ENGINE CRADLE. ENGINE VIBRATES AND WE ARE CONCERNED THAT IT WILL FALL OUT OF THE CAR AND KILL SOMEONE. WE WONT LET OUR KIDS DRIVE IT ANYMORE AND CANT AFFORD TO REPLACE IT. I OWN A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA AND IT IS STUCK IN PARK, AND HAS BEEN FOR A WEEK NOW. IT WILL START UP, AND YOU CAN HEAR THE SHIFTER CLICK WHEN YOU STEP ON THE BRAKE, BUT YOU CANNOT MOVE THE SHIFTER STICK TO PUT IT IN ANOTHER GEAR. I HAVE WENT ONLINE AND READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT CHRYSLER VEHICLES GETTING STUCK IN PARK, AND PEOPLE ARE MANUALLY GOING UNDER THE HOOD TO PULL THE BRAKE OUT OF PARK. THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE THAT IN ORDER TO MOVE THE VEHICLE, YOU HAVE TO HAVE YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO PUT IT IN GEAR. WITHOUT THIS SAFETY FEATURE IN PLACE, A VEHICLE COULD ROLL INTO THE STREET, OR IF A CHILD IS LEFT ALONE IN THE VEHICLE, THEY COULD EASILY PUT IT IN GEAR. IN ADDITION, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FAIL TO OPEN WHEN ENGAGED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SECURE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 55,000.

UPON INSPECTION HE NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE HAD SEVERAL LARGE HOLES RUSTED THROUGH THE CRADLE, ONE WAS SO LARGE THAT IT WAS 6" X 3" HE STATED THAT THIS IS NOT NORMAL FOR A PART TO RUST LIKE THIS AND SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALER WHERE WE BOUGHT IT SO THE FOLLOWING DAY WE TOOK TO ROBERTS CHRYSLER AND TOLD THAT THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY WOULD REPLACE THE CRADDLE FOR $3500 AND WHEN I ASKED ABOUT OTHER PACIFICAS WITH THE SAME ISSUE IS WAS TOLD THAT THIS PART IS ONLY COVERED IN HIGH SALT AREAS OF THE US . I LIVE IN CONNECTICUT. SO I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND GAVE THEM THE VIN NUMBER AND WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY. I HAD THEN SEARCHED ONLINE AGAIN FOUND MANY MANY PACIFICAS WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND SEVERAL PACIFICAS THAT HAD THERE REGISTRATIONS PULLED BECAUSE THE STATE INSPECTIONS WOULD NOT ALLOW THESE PACIFICAS ON THE ROADS BECAUSE THE ENGINES WILL FALL OUT IF THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE THEN WHAT IS ? SINCE THEN THE CAR HAS HAD TO HAVE THE ENTIRE FRONT END REPLACED INCLUDING BALL JOINT BOTH SIDES UPPER AND LOWER ALL TIE RODS.
