THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INELIGIBLE FOR ANY WARRANTY REPAIRS. ON THE NIGHT OF JULY 3, 2013 I BEGAN TO HEAR A SLIGHT RATTLE WHILE DRIVING. THE NOISE COULD ONLY BE HEARD WHILE THE CAR WAS MOVING. I DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR APPROX. 25 MINUTES AND THE NOISE MAINTAINED FOR MOST OF THE RIDE. THE NEXT MORNING THE NOISE WAS MUCH LOUDER AND COULD BE HEARD EVEN WHILE THE VEHICLE SAT IDLE. I CHECKED MY OIL AND TRANSMISSION FLUID AS WELL AS MY COOLANT AND ALL LEVELS WERE AT NORMAL. THIS WAS THE 4TH OF JULY AND I COULD NOT FIND A MECHANIC OPEN. I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO WORK FOR APPROX. 25 MINUTES THEN BACK HOME AGAIN. THE NOISE DID NOT WORSEN OR IMPROVE. I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL ONCE I RETURNED HOME LAST NIGHT AND IT WAS LOW. I ADDED 2 QUARTS AND DID NOT DRIVE UNTIL THIS MORNING. THE NOISE REMAINED SO I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO HAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDS REPLACING. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE ROD BEARING IS CAUSING THE RATTLE/KNOCKING SOUND AND THAT EVENTUALLY THE LOOSE BEARING WILL WEAR INTO THE CRANK SHAFT AND MY ENGINE WILL NOT WORK ANYMORE. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THE ONLY OPTION IS ENGINE REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 68,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN CARED FOR. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF ISSUES SUCH AS THESE AND HAS IN PREVIOUS CASES ASSISTED WITH THE COST OF REPAIR. I WILL BE CONTACTING CHRYSLER FOLLOWING THIS COMPLAINT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT A TECHNICIAN FROM CHRYSLER CAME TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. AT EXACTLY 70000 MILES WHILE ENTERING A HIGHWAY ON RAMP THE CAR STALLED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. BROUGHT IT TO DEALER AND THEY FOUND NO PROBLEM. SINCE THEN IT HAS STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE DRIVING ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS AS THIS CAR HAS NO STEERING OR LIGHTS. I HAVE BROUGHT IT BACK TO ANOTHER DEALER THREE TIMES AND THEY CAN NOT FIND A PROBLEM EITHER. *TR

THE FAILURE IS THE MOTOR MOUNTS, ENGINE LIFTS UP WHEN GOING FORWARD) CAN CAUSE DEADLY ACCIDENT, ENGINE COMING OUT FALLING OR FLYING OUT CAR SOUND LOUDER THAN USUAL WHEN GOING FORWARD AND WHEN STARTING UP. THIS CAN CAUSE A DEADLY ACCIDENT/SERIOUS BECAUSE THE ENGINE CAN FALL OR FLY OUT OF THE CAR. I HAVE NOT GOTTEN THE CAR FIXED. JUST FOUND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS 2 DAYS AGO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNT WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT SPOKEN WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,780 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,800.
MY 2008 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAS STALLED THREE TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS UNDER 40MPH. THE VEHICLE GIVES NO WARNING THAT IT WILL STOP RUNNING BEFORE IT HAPPENS. WHEN IT STALLS THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND SO DOES THE BRAKES. I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALER EACH TIME. THEY CONTINUAL INSTALL UPDATES AND REBOOT THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER TO NO AVAIL. 2008 CHRYSLER WITH 12,100 MILES ON ODOMETER EXPERIENCED A SECOND BREAKDOWN FOR THE SAME LOWER RADIATOR HOSE FAILURE. ORIGINAL NHTSA COMPLAINT ODI NUMBER 10286512. LOWER RADIATOR HOSE ORIGINALLY FAILED AT 6,200 MILES DUE TO HOSE RUBBING AGAINST ENGINE, CAUSING HOSE TO BURST. HOSE WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY IN OCTOBER 2009. IN JANUARY 2010, AT APPROXIMATELY 12,100 MILES, LOWER RADIATOR BURST AGAIN, FOR SAME REASON. CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT REPLACEMENT HOSE WAS ALSO INSTALLED INCORRECTLY, AND THAT HOSE WAS FOUND TO BE RUBBING AGAINST FAN SHROUD, CAUSING FAILURE. THIS IS NOW SECOND REPAIR/REPLACEMENT FOR SAME HOSE IN 12,000 MILES (7 MONTHS). *TR
RELATIVELY NEW SUV (2008 CHRYSLER PACIFICA) WITH APPROXIMATELY 6,000 MILES EXPERIENCED A BREAKDOWN CAUSED BY THE ENGINE OVERHEATING ON INTERSTATE 95 IN MAINE WHILE ON A TRIP. AFTER BEING TOWED TO A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE LOWER RADIATOR HOSE HAD FAILED DUE TO PROBABLE INCORRECT INSTALLATION AT TIME OF MANUFACTURE. THE RADIATOR HOSE WAS FOUND TO HAVE A HOLE IN IT WHICH CAUSED THE LOSS OF COOLANT AND SUBSEQUENT OVERHEATING. THIS HOLE APPARENTLY WAS CAUSED BY THE HOSE RUBBING UP AGAINST A PART OF THE ENGINE, CAUSING IT TO WEAR AND BRAKE PREMATURELY. *TR
PURCHASED A 2008 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WITH APPROXIMATELY 32K MILES ON IT. THE CAR WAS "CERTIFIED" BY CHRYSLER. AT APPROXIMATELY 44K MILES THE ENGINE WOULD BANG WHEN SHIFTING OUT OF PARK TO REVERSE OR DRIVE. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THE ENGINE MOUNTS WERE TORN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD ENGINE MOUNTS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT'S CONSIDERED NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND IT WOULD BE AROUND $700 TO FIX. I REVIEWED THE CHRYSLER OWNER'S MANUAL AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT MENTIONS MOTOR MOUNTS NEEDING INSPECTION FOR WEAR AND TEAR. THE STANDARD ITEMS ARE LISTED SUCH AS OIL, TIRES, FILTERS, BELTS, FLUID ETC. IF MOTOR MOUNTS ARE SUBJECT TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR SHOULDN'T THEY BE LISTED SO AN OWNER CAN HAVE THEM INSPECTED? THE CERTIFICATION CHECKLIST ALSO DIDN'T INCLUDE AN INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE MOUNTS. CHRYSLER DOESN'T OFFER ANY INFORMATION ON THE MOTOR MOUNTS IN THEIR WARRANTY, CERTIFICATION INSPECTION OR OWNER'S MANUAL. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH I'VE FOUND NUMEROUS WEBSITES WITH OTHER PACIFICA OWNERS HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM WITH THE MOTOR MOUNTS. FAILING MOTOR MOUNTS APPEAR TO BE A FACTORY DEFECT CHRYSLER IS IGNORING. *TR

ALL TESTING IS SHOWING NOTHING IS WRONG. TO DATE MOTORWORLD STILL HAS MY CAR.......CHRYSLAR & MOTORWORLD ARE REFUSING A LOANER CAR - AND OR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE VEHICLE.. WHO WILL BE RESPONSIBLE IF I HAVE AN ACCIDENT - I HOPE IT IS NOT FATAL.....CHRYSLER CORP EXTREMELY NASTY AND MAKING NO PROGRESS WITH MOTORWORLD.
