TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH WITH THE DRIVER SIDE HEATED SEAT ACTIVATED HE NOTICED THAT THE MECHANISM BURNED THROUGH THE SEAT WHICH CAUSED INJURY TO THE DRIVERS RIGHT LEG. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE HEATING ELEMENT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS AT 86,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING CONVERTIBLE. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF LESS THAN 65 MPH UTILIZING THE HEATED SEATS, HE NOTICED THAT THE SEAT BECAME HOTTER THAN USUAL. HE THEN NOTICED THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE SEAT AND A SMALL FIRE IMMEDIATELY IGNITED. HE WAS STILL DRIVING AS THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AT 65 MPH. HE ATTEMPTED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE WITHOUT CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE AND SWERVED IN AND OUT OF TRAFFIC AS HIS RIGHT PANT LEG WAS ABLAZE. HE WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE WITH A JUG OF WATER THAT WAS INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. HE SUFFERED MODERATE BURNS TO HIS RIGHT LEG. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A MALFUNCTION IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON HIS VEHICLE AND HIS WARRANTY WAS NOT VALID FOR THE HEATED SEATS THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST HIM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS 90,000.
I HAVE A 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING CONVERTIBLE V6. THE CAR STALLS EVERY ONCE AND A WHILE, AFTER STOPPING OR WHILE RIDING AT LOWER SPEEDS, MOST OFTEN IN HOT SUMMER DAYS. THE MAIN CONCERN IS THAT WHEN IT STALLS WHILE RIDING, I LOSE POWER TO THE BREAKS AND THE STEERING WHEEL, MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. IT ALSO HAS A PROBLEM THAT AFTER RUNNING FOR A WHILE ON A HIGHWAY USING THE CRUISE CONTROL, WHEN IT COMES TO A STOP, IT BEGINS TO STALL, BUT I GUESS THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM KICKS-IN AND THAT LEADS TO A VERY RAPID ACCELERATION. AT THAT MOMENT, IF I AM NOT PRESSING FIRMLY ON THE BREAKS, THE CAR MAY EVEN JUMP FORWARD AND HIT SOMETHING. I REPORTED THESE ISSUES TO THE DEALER WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY BUT THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE IT. SINCE THIS HAPPENS SPORADICALLY AND I AM ALWAYS PREPARED FOR SUCH EVENTS, I DID NOT INSIST TOO MUCH WITH THE DEALER. BUT LOOKING AT THE INTERNET, I CAN SEE THAT LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS AS I AM AND I AM GETTING TO THE CONCLUSION THAT SUCH ISSUES ARE DUE TO A CHRONIC FLAW IN THE SEBRING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH HE HEARD A NOISE IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION HE NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE FAILED. HE REMOVED THE TIRE AND DISCOVERED CORROSION ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER REAR SHACKLE. HE SPECULATED THAT THE SHACKLES FAILED SINCE THEY WERE MADE OUT OF ALUMINUM. HE REPLACED THE LEFT AND RIGHT REAR SHACKLES WITH METAL SHACKLES. THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 80,000.
SEVERAL MONTHS AGO I WAS STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT IN MY 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING CONVERTIBLE, 2.7L AUTOMATIC. I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AS USUAL AT THE LIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED I SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND THE ENGINE WENT "WIDE OPEN." I LURCHED FORWARD, JAMMED ON BRAKES AND TURNED IGNITION OFF. I PAUSED A MINUTE (IN FRONT OF STARTELED ONLOOKERS), RESTARTED THE ENGINE, AND DROVE ON CAUTIOUSLY. NEXT DAY I TOOK CAR TO CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY "COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR." THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN. *TR
PLASTIC COVERING OVER FRONT HEADLAMP HOUSING HAS GOTTEN FOGGED OVER ENTIRE OUTSIDE. THE AMOUNT OF LIGHT THROWN BY THE HEADLAMPS IS REDUCED. I NOTICE THIS ON MOST CARS AS THEY GET OLDER. THIS IS A SAFETY RELATED ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. CLEANING PRODUCTS SOLD BY AUTO PARTS STORES TO CLEAR THIS SITUATION ARE WORTHLESS. *JS
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH DOWNHILL, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER NEAR THE SIDEWALK AND NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE CV JOINTS, AXLE, AND RIM. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 72,300.
I PURCHASED A 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING CONVERTIBLE ON DECEMBER 25, 2008. THE FIRST COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED MY CAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. AFTER ANOTHER 1 MONTH OR SO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER. PER THE DEALER I ONLY HAD 3 MONTHS OF WARRANTY THEREFORE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. AT THE TIME OF THE PURCHASED THE PERSON WHO SOLD THE CAR TO ME STATED I HAD 1 YEAR OF WARRANTY AND IT TURNED OUT I ONLY HAD 3 MONTHS OF WARRANTY. I OF COURSE COMPLAINT BECAUSE THAT'S NOT WHAT THEY SAID IN THE BEGINNING AT THE TIME OF THE PURCHASE. AFTER THAT DAY I WENT BACK HOME AND DECIDED TO GO BACK TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THEY HAD CLOSED THE DEALER PER THEY WERE ALREADY OUT OF BUSINESS. THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO AFTER THAT. ON AUGUST 2, 2009 MY CAR STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE I TOOK THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC AND HE STATED A NEW ENGINE NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED PER THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY GONE OUT OF NO WHERE. I HAD 3 OTHER MECHANICS LOOK AT MY CAR AND THEY ALSO STATED A NEW ENGINE NEEDED TO BE PUT IN. SO NOW IM STUCK WITH MY CAR LOAN IN WHICH I STILL OWE ABOUT $6000 AND I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS NOW PER IT COST TOO MUCH TO REPLACE. WHAT SHOULD I DO IN THIS CASE? REAR SHOCK MOUNTING PLATE ON 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING DISINTEGRATED FROM CORROSION, CAUSING THE SPRING TO RUB ON TIRE AND TIRE FAILURE AT HIGH SPEED. NO INJURY. *TR
2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING CONVERTIBLE WITH 2.7L, 6 CYL ENGINE. ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY IN MICHIGAN; WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD, THE RADIATOR WAS STEAMING/BOILING. NO WARNING, NO "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHTS, NO OIL PRESSURE OR TEMPERATURE WARNINGS. HAD CAR TOWED TO MICHIGAN DEALER, THEY COULDN'T GET THE ENGINE TO MOVE; SAID I NEEDED ENGINE REPLACEMENT. CHRYSLER WOULDN'T HONOR ANY WARRANTIES BECAUSE CAR WAS JUST OVER 70K MILES (WARRANTY TO 70K). ALSO, DEALER I TOWED THE CAR TO HAD JUST LOST THEIR CHRYSLER FRANCHISE 3 DAYS EARLIER AS DID THE DEALER I HAD PURCHASED THE CAR FROM; CHRYSLER SAID THEY WOULDN'T EVEN TALK TO THESE DEALERS ANYMORE ABOUT THE CAR, I WAS ON MY OWN. I FOUND NUMEROUS WEBSITES SHOWING COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ENGINE THAT WERE EXACTLY LIKE MINE. THERE'S BEEN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED IN NJ REGARDING THIS ENGINE FAILURE BUT I HAVEN'T FOUND ONE THAT I CAN PARTICIPATE IN YET. I SURRENDERED THE CAR TO CHRYSLER AS I WASN'T READY TO PAY OVER $8000 FOR A NEW ENGINE (MORE THAN THE CAR WAS WORTH). *TR
BEGAN 4/2009 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING FRONT DRIVER SIDE SUSPENSION. CREAKING NOISE IN FRONT END OCCURS ALL THE TIME. TRIED LUBRICATING AXEL HAD CAR IN FOR SERVICE FIVE TIMES. GOOGLE 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING FOUND A COMMON PROBLEM. CHRYSLER REFUSED TO RESPOND TO SITUATION SENT AUTO REPAIR SHOP GOOGLE INFO FOUND DEFECTIVE REPLACED L/S TIE ROD. *TR
ON SUNDAY MORNING I WAS TRAVELING NORTH BOUND ON I-35 PASSING THE I-35 & I-40 JUNCTION TRAVELING ABOUT 60 MILES PER HOUR, WHEN ON MY DRIVERS SIDE I NOTICED A WHITE DODGE NEON COMING OVER INTO MY LANE. I IMMEDIATELY HONKED HORN AND MOVED OVER SLIGHTLY. CAR CONTINUED TO COME OVER INTO MY LANE SO I HIT MY BRAKES WHICH SLOWED ME DOWN SOME TO ABOUT 50 MILES PER HOUR, AND THEN MY CARS FRONT END STARTED VIBRATING VIGOROUSLY AND CAR WENT INTO TAILSPIN AND HIT HEAD ON INTO CENTER HIGHWAY CONCRETE MEDIAN AND THEN TAILEND SWUNG AROUND AND ALSO HIT MEDIAN ON PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND I WANT TO INVESTIGATE IF THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY DEPLOYED AND WERE NOT RE-INSTALLED PROPERLY. OR IF THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER HAD A DEFECT IN THE AIRBAGS THEMSELVES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN WITHIN A COUPLE OF MINUTES THE CAR STOPPED, I DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING, THE BATTERY WAS FINE BECAUSE THE RADIO AND HEAD LIGHTS WERE WORKING, I KNEW HAD OIL, MY HUSBAND CAME OUT AND TRIED TO JUMP START IT BUT HAD NO LUCK, HAD IT TOWED TO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THE ENGINE WAS SEIZED. I HAD NO WARNING SIGN THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG WITH MY ENGINE, THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS FINE AND THAT IT LOOK PRETTY CLEAN AS WELL. THEY TOLD ME A NEED A NEW ENGINE AT A COST OF $5500 FOR A USED ONE WITH A 6 MO. PARTS ONLY WARRANTY OR A FACTORY RECONDITIONED ONE AT A COST OF $7200. I CAN NOT AFFORD EITHER, AND STILL OWE APROX $6500 ON MY CAR LOAN. I FOUND A WEB SITE CALLED AUTO BEEF AND WITH LITTLE SURPRISE THERE WERE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEMS. I HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A FAULTY PRODUCT. NOW I HAVE TO PAY FOR A CAR I CANNOT USE OR INVEST ALMOST $7200 PLUS TAX ON A CAR THAT ISN'T WORTH THAT MUCH TO PUT INTO IT ANOTHER $7200.00. *TR
2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING CONVERTIBLE. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH TRUNK LIDS FAILURE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED SHE WAS LEANING INSIDE THE TRUNK, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE LID COLLAPSED OH HER BACK WHICH ULTIMATELY REQUIRED SURGERY AND ONE MONTH OF REHABILITATION. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED BY CHRYSLER SHE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING SURE THE STRUTS ON THE LID WERE IN WORKING ORDER AS THE PROBLEM WAS CONSIDERED A MAINTENANCE ISSUE. *JB

FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS, MY CAR HAS BEEN STALLING WHILE WAITING AT A STOP SIGN AND WHILE RUNNING SMOOTHLY ON THE HIGHWAY WILL SUDDENLY SKIP AND MISS. I ATTRIBUTED THIS TO "BAD GASOLINE" OR AS MY FATHER WOULD SAY, AIR IN THE LINE. I FINALLY TOOK THE CAR TO AN AUTOMOTIVE SHOP AND HE WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALER TO CHECK FOR IDLE QUALITY ON THEIR COMPUTER. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE LOCAL VERO BEACH CHRYSLER DEALER YESTERDAY AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. WHEN I WAS LEAVING, THE YOUNG WOMAN ADVISOR TOLD ME TO CALL AAA IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN, EVEN THOUGH I TOLD HER I HAD NO TROUBLE RESTARTING THE CAR. SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG HERE! *TR
I HAVE A 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING. THE CAR WILL START AT TIMES FINE WITH NO PROBLEM, BUT SOMETIMES IT WILL START AND THAN TURN OFF IMMEDIATELY. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. THE CAR WILL ALSO SOMETIMES NOT EVEN TURN ON AT ALL. *TR

CAR HAS HAD NEW BRAKES EVERY 3-4 MONTHS,BRAND NEW COOLING SYSTEM, TUNE-UP, OIL CHANGE EVERY 2500-3000 MILES, DEALERSHIP UPDATED SOFTWARE, COLD START STALLING PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND OFF AND NO PROBLEMS FOUND AT AUTO SHOP. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT SINCE THE CAR WAS USED THEY WERE NOT GOING TO AND COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND REFUSED TO CHECK ANYTHING OUT OR EVEN LISTEN TO MY CONCERNS. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE DOING ALL OF THESE THINGS. SINCE THE FIRST INITIAL TIME OF PROBLEM PROBLEMS HAVE CONTINUED. CAR IS AT 96,000 MILES BUT HAS LEFT ME STRANDEDED SINCE AND KEEP HAVING TO REPLACE PARTS. *TR
I WAS TURNING RIGHT AFTER A STOP, AND MY FRONT RIGHT BALL JOINT FAILED, CAUSING THE CAR SUSPENSION TO FALL ONTO THE WHEEL RIM, AND I LOST MY STEERING. I BACKED UP TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF CROSS-TRAFFIC, AND INADVERTENTLY PULLED THE RIGHT BOOT OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION, AND THE FRONT PASSENGER CORNER OF THE CAR FELL ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND. CAR WAS TOWED, INSPECTED, AND FOUND TAT THE LEFT BALL JOINT WAS ALSO LOOSE, SO I REPLACED BOTH SIDES, AS WELL AS A NEW RIGHT DRIVE AXLE AND BOOT. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THIS MODEL HAS GREASELESS BEARINGS IN THE BALL JOINTS, WHICH IS A PROBLEM HE HAS SEEN BEFORE. TOTAL REPAIR BILL WAS OVER $770. I FEEL LUCKY, IN THAT IN ANOTHER 5 MILES I WOULD HAVE BEEN ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. *TR
OIL SLUDGE IN MY LOWER ENGINE. CHRYSLER 2.7 V6 ENGINE. I AM BEING TOLD I NEED TO PAY $8000.00 FOR A NEW ENGINE IN MY 2004 SEBRING WITH ONLY 48,XXX MILES ON IT. *TR
TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE TWO CARS GOT INTO A FENDER BENDER ANOTHER CRASHED INTO THEM AND I WAS TRAVELING BEHIND THE THIRD VEHICLE WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND SENT INTO A SKID. MY CAR SLID A GOOD DISTANCE UNTIL IT CRASHED RIGHT INTO THE BACK OF THE THIRD VEHICLE WHICH WAS A VOLVO IN WHICH THEIR AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. MY SEBRING DID NOT STOP NOR DID THE AIR BAGS DEPLOY. I WAS TRAVELING AROUND 30-40 MPH WHEN THE IMPACT HAPPEN. WILL NOT HAVE CONFIRMATION UNTIL TOMORROW BUT IT APPEARS THAT THE CAR WILL NOT BE SALVAGEABLE. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT ANTI-LOCK BRAKES SHOULD PREVENT A SKID ON A DRY SURFACE ON A CLEAR DAY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ALONG, AND SUDDENLY A RATTLING NOISE STARTED COMING FROM THE RIGHT REAR OF THE CAR WHEN I WOULD HIT BUMPS. THE CAR'S HANDLING WAS THE SAME AND THE VEHICLE STILL FELT STABLE, SO I CONTINUED DRIVING UNTIL I GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. THE Y ADVISED THAT THE REAR STRUT MOUNTS HAD DETERIORATED, AND THAT CHRYSLER HAD REVISED THE MOUNTS AFTER MY VEHICLE YEAR BECAUSE OF SO MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. NOW I HAVE TO PAY $300 TO GET THEM FIXED! *TR
04 CHRYSLER SEBRING 4 DOOR SEDAN V6 2.7L REAR STRUT TO BODY MOUNTS FAILED. THE MOUNTS APPEAR TO BE CAST ALUMINUM AND DISSOLVED TO NOTHING CAUSE SUSPENSION FAILURE. THIS THEN CAUSED THE FRONTS TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. THE WHOLE CAR BECOME DANGEROUS TO DRIVE CAUSING THE CAR TO SWAY AND HAVE EXCESS PLAY IN STEERING. *TR
TICKING OF THE ENGINE, NO SLUDGE FOUND AS OF TODAY. STALLING AT LIGHTS OR SITTING IN TRAFFIC. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING. THE VEHICLE HAS GOODYEAR EAGLE GT II TIRES, SIZE P275/60R15. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WITHOUT WARNING. THE TIRE WAS CHANGED AND THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN AWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 39,000.
ENGINE CEASED WHILE STOPPED AT STOP LIGHT. VEHICLE HAD TO BE PUSHED OUT OF THE WAY. LATER FOUND ENGINE FAILED DO TO SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE. *TR
BOUGHT A USED 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING TOURING. NOTICED 1000KMS LATER THAT THE ENGINE SOUNDED ROUGH. SAW THE OIL WAS BLACK. TOOK THE CAR FOR AN OIL CHANGE. CAR WAS FINE FOR AWHILE. I HAVE A 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING. FOR 1 YEAR BEGINNING IN OCTOBER 2006, I HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT WOULD COME ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. I WAS UNABLE TO BRING IT TO THE DEALER BECAUSE IT WAS OVER THE WARRANTY MILEAGE. I HAVE HAD STALLING PROBLEMS, WHEN I WOULD APPLY THE BRAKES THE CRA WOULD EITHER STALL OR JERK FORWARD. ON JULY 26, 2008, I HAD TO HAVE THE TIE RODS REPLACED. SINCE I HAD THE VEHICLE I ALSO HAD TO HAVE A BEARING REPLACED. I DO A LOT OF HIGHWAY DRIVING, BUT, HAVE HAD VEHICLES IN THE PAST THAT NEVER HAD THESE PROBLEMS. WHEN I HAD THE TIE RODS REPLACED (AT STS), THEY ALSO CHECKED ON THE STALLING. THE ONLY THING THEY WERE ABLE TO FIND WAS "DIRTY THROTTLE PLATES" WHICH DID NOT FIX THE SITUATION. I HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON MY VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THESE PROBLEMS ARE COMMON WITH MY MODEL, YEAR, AND VIN NUMBER. WE HAVE DONE A FEW OF THE OIL CHANGES OURSELVES, AND HAD SOME DONE AT AUTO SERVICES OTHER THAN CHRYSLER SO THEY DO NOT WISH TO WARRANTY THE ENGINE. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM I DISCOVERED AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET AND CHRYSLER IS TRYING NOT TO HONOR THE WARRANTY BY CLAIMING THE OIL WAS NOT CHANGED CORRECTLY BY THE OWNER, AND OR, THE SERVICE COMPANIES OTHER THAN CHRYSLER. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR LOCK IS INOPERATIVE, PREVENTING HIM FROM OPENING THE DOOR FROM INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR; HOWEVER, THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER. THE CONTACT HAS TO WAIT 6-8 WEEKS TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. I HAD OWNED THE CAR LESS THAN 4 YEARS WHEN THE REAR STRUT MOUNT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BROKE FROM CORROSION AND CAUSED ME TO HAVE TO HAVE THE REAR MOUNTS AND STRUTS REPLACED. I EMAILED CHRYSLER AND THEY RESPONDED THAT SINCE THE CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY FOR THOSE PARTS THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND STARTED TO HEAR A KNOCKING IN THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE. I STOPPED AT A MUFFLER/SHOCK DEALER AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE A BROKEN UPPER STRUT PLATE AND BEARINGS ON THE RIGHT REAR, BECAUSE THESE PARTS HAD COMPLETELY RUSTED AWAY. MY VEHICLE IS ONLY 4-YEARS OLD. ABOUT A MONTH LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THE LEFT REAR OF MY VEHICLE, BUT THE SHOP COULD NOT LOCATE ANY REPAIR PARTS. THERE ARE SO MANY OF THESE PARTS BREAKING THE DEALERS CAN'T KEEP THE PARTS ON HAND. I WAS TOLD BY CHRYSLER CORP AND OTHER PARTS DEALERS; THAT THERE ARE OVER 9,000 OF THESE STRUT-PLATES ON BACK ORDER. THIS MAKES DRIVING THE CAR UNSAFE, AND WITH THESE MANY BREAKDOWNS THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN A RECALL TO REIMBURSE OWNERS FOR THIS EXPENSE. *TR

THE AIRBAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF AT RANDOM. CHRYSLER HAS REPLACED THE SEATBELT TENSIONER ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IT IS NOW RECURRING AND THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER WANTS TO REPLACE BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATBELT TENSIONERS TO TURN OFF THE LIGHT. I BELIEVE, FROM ONLINE QUERIES, THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR CAR MODEL SERIES. THE CONDITION IS CLEARLY UNSAFE. *TR
IN MAY OF 2008, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH HER PURSE ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. SHE SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING AND LOOKED OVER TO DISCOVER THAT HER PURSE WAS BURNING ALONG WITH THE PASSENGER SEAT. SHE PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY AND WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE BOTTOM OF HER PURSE WAS CHARRED AND THE PASSENGER SEAT HAD A BURN WHOLE ABOUT THE SIZE OF A QUARTER. THE FIRE WAS DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE SEAT WARMER. THE SEAT WARMER HAS A RANGE OF 1-5 WITH 1 BEING THE LOWEST. THE WARMER WAS ON 3. I HAD BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY WITH THE COMPLAINT OF THE SEAT WARMERS OVERHEATING. I HAD FELT A BURNING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND WAS CONVINCED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE SEAT WARMER. ADDITIONALLY MY WIFE HAD MENTIONED THAT SHE FELT SIMILAR OVERHEATING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. EACH TIME I BROUGHT IT IN TO CHRYSLER, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. I HAD ASKED THEM TO SEARCH FOR RECALLS AS WELL AS TSB'S. I WAS TOLD THERE WERE NONE. THERE WAS IN FACT A TSB ISSUED FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM BEFORE I HAD BROUGHT MY CAR IN TO BE EXAMINED. IT SEEMS THAT THIS WAS EITHER IGNORED OR OVERLOOKED ON AT LEAST 2 OCCASIONS. WE KEPT THE CONTROL AT 3 OR BELOW AND THIS SEEMED TO HELP FOR A BIT, HOWEVER IT STILL GOT TOO HOT ON MANY OCCASIONS AND WE HAD TO TURN THEM OFF. I HAVE DISCOVERED RECENTLY THAT THE CHRYSLER JEEP FOR 2004 WAS RECALLED FOR EXACTLY THE PROBLEM THAT I HAD. NOW THE MERCEDES (DAMLIERCHRYSLER) IS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AS WELL. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 7/2/2008 HOPING THAT THEY WOULD HELP RESOLVE THIS. I WAS TOLD THAT A MANAGER WAS PUTTING A CALL INTO CHRYSLER TO SEE WHAT COULD BE DONE. I CALLED LATTER IN THE DAY FOR STATUS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE MANAGER WAS AT THE DENTIST. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR, I WAS TOLD THAT HE NEVER RETURNED FORM THE DENTIST. I AM NOW (7/9/08) BEING TOLD THAT THE CHRYSLER FACTORY REP IS ON VACATION AND WILL NOT BE BACK UNTIL 7/14/08.

2004 SEBRING CONVERTIBLE TOURING EDITION WITH 25,700 MILES. LEATHER INTERIOR WITH HEATED SEATS. WHILE SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT OF MY SON'S SCHOOL, MY SON FELT SOMETHING HOT ON HIS BACK. THE HEATED SEATS WERE ON 1, THE HEATING ELEMENT BURNT THROUGH THE CUSHION AND LEATHER SEAT BACK AND ALSO BURNT A HOLE INTO HIS COAT. THE CUSHION OR THE POLYESTER FILL IN HIS COAT WAS IN A BLACK MOLTEN FORM AND BURNT THE TIP OF HIS FINGER AND HE JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR. THE HOLE IN THE SEAT WAS THE SIZE OF A QUARTER AND NEEDED TO BE EXTINGUISHED WITH A WATER BOTTLE TO STOP IT FROM BURNING,THE SEAT WAS ON FIRE! CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WOULDN'T COVER REPAIRS, NOT A WARRANTY PROBLEM. SEPARATE WARRANTY THAT WAS PURCHASED DIDN'T WANT TO COVER DAMAGES, UPHOLSTERY IS NOT COVERED, BUT I ARGUED THIS IS NOT NORMAL WEAR, SEATS DON'T CATCH ON FIRE. THE FINAL OUTCOME, WARRANTY COMPANY SENT A USED SEAT TO MY HOME. CAR DEALERSHIP CHARGED 65.00 TO CALL WARRANTY COMPANY WITH A LIST OF PARTS TOTALING $ 3,200.00 FOR SEAT BACK. WHEN AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN WARRANTY COMPANY AND MYSELF TO INSTALL A USED SEAT, DEALER WANTED AN ADDITIONAL $ 85.00 TO INSTALL SEAT. THUS THE REASON THE SEAT WAS SENT TO MY HOUSE. HAD THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AN ACCIDENT WOULD'VE BEEN CERTAIN. *TR
BRAKES AND AIR BAGS THE BRAKES WOULD NOT CATCH UPON TRYING TO STOP AND CAUSED A REAR END COLLISION. ALSO THE AIR BAGS CAME OUT UPON CRASH AT MAYBE 20 MILES PER HOUR AND CAUSED A BROKEN ARM AND A LACERATION UNDER THE CHIN AND HAD TO BE STITCHED AND PERSON IS HOSPITALIZED. *TR
VEHICLE FAILED EMISSION INSPECTION. VEHICLE COMPUTER WILL NOT RESET. DEALERS INSIST THAT THE VEHICLE MUST BE DRIVEN OVER 400 MILES FOR THE COMPUTER TO RESET. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN THE RECOMMENDED DISTANCES AND THE COMPUTER FAILED TO RESET. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERS THEY ASK FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE DRIVEN FOR AN ADDITIONAL 400 MILES. AT THE COST OF FUEL, TOLLS, AND TIME SPENT ON THE ROAD, THE EMISSION INSPECTION IS COSTING A FORTUNE FRO VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY FOUR YEARS OLD. THE COMPUTER IS UNDER WARRANTY BUT IT SEEMS LIKE DEALERS DON'T WANT TO HONOR THE WARRANTIES DUE TO THE REPLACEMENT COST. *TR

I HAVE A 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING WITH A 2.7L V6 ENGINE. THE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM WHICH HAS COME UP NUMEROUS TIMES IS THE ENGINE RPM WILL SURGE CAUSING THE CAR TO LURCH FORWARD. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN COMING TO A STOP - THE ENGINE RPM WILL DROP TO THE POINT WHERE THE ENGINE WILL ALMOST STALL, THEN SURGE EXCESSIVELY CAUSING THE CAR TO LURCH FORWARD. THIS SURGE OF RPMS HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST HIT CARS IN FRONT OF ME AND WORSE, SENDING ME INTO AN INTERSECTION WITH ONCOMING CARS. 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING CONVERTIBLE 2.7 LITER ENGINE FAILURE. THIS ENGINE SEIZED WHILE I WAS DRIVING LUCKILY IT I WAS ONLY GOING 35 MPH AND I HAD TIME TO PULL THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD AN AIR BAG LIGHT ON SINCE I BOUGHT IT AND NO DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN ABLE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THE CAR THROUGHOUT THE THREE YEARS I HAVE OWNED IT. I AM A SINGLE PARENT WHO IS WITHOUT A CAR FOR OVER TWO MONTHS NOW BUT PAYING $350.00 A MONTH ON IT. I HAVE MAINTAINED THIS CAR ON A REGULAR BASIS AND CHRYSLER HAS DENIED THE CLAIM EVEN THOUGH EVERY MECHANIC I HAVE TALKED TO SAYS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE FOR YEARLY INSPECTION AND OUR MECHANIC SAID THAT OUR 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING, WITH APPROXIMATELY 32,000 MILES HAD A CRACKED RESONATOR CAP. HE HAS ALREADY SEEN ONE SEBRING WITH 29,000 MILES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND RECOMMENDED TO US TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP. THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED IN JUNE AND THEY SAID THAT IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED. *TR

DRIVING THE FREEWAY ON 91 DEGREE DAY AND RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SEAT CATCHES FIRE DUE TO SEAT HEATING ELEMENT WHICH WAS NOT TURNED ON. CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND POLICE USED DRY CHEMICAL EXTINGUISHER. THE HEAT ELEMENT CONTINUED TO PRODUCE SIGNIFICANT HEAT UNTIL UNPLUGGED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. *TR

THE MECHANIC HAS NOT DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE. THE WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 30,000. THE PURCHASE DATE OF THE VEHICLE WAS 3/5/2006.
