DRIVING VEHICLE ON INTERSTATE WITH NO WARNING CAR LOST SPEED, STALLED THEN SHUT OFF. WOULD NOT START BACK UP. VEHICLE TUT OWED TO LICENSE MECHANIC AND ENGINE PISTONS WAS BROKEN. ENGINE BLEW UP WITHOUT SIGNS. LESS THAN 64,000 MILES.
THE CAR DIED ON THE ROAD WHILE I WAS MAKING THE TURN AND WHEN I WENT OUT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED THE CAR LEFT A TRAIL OF CLEARISH FLUID. KEEP IN MIND THAT MY CAR HAS ONLY 73,000 MILES ON IT
I PURCHASED A 2010 CHRYSLER SEBRING WITH A 2.7 LITER LH ENGINE FROM MEADOR JEEP DEALERSHIP IN APPROXIMATELY 2014. IT HAD APPROXIMATELY 32K MILES ON THE ODOMETER. AS I AM RETIRED, AND NO LONGER HAVE A COMMUTE TO WORK, I DO NOT DRIVE MORE THAN 8K A YEAR. IN FEBRUARY 2016 I HEARD A RATTLING NOISE IN THE ENGINE AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. ON FEBRUARY 25, 2016 THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TIMING CHAIN ("TIMING TENSIONER") FOR A COST OF $795.83. WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR, CHRIS, ONE OF THE SERVICE WRITERS, ADVISED ME TO DRIVE THE CAR MORE OFTEN, AND TO BE HARD ON THE ENGINE. ON APPROXIMATELY MAY 5, 2016 I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY, AND THE ENGINE STOPPED WORKING. AS I WAS NOT ABLE TO RESTART IT, I HAD THE CAR TOWED BACK TO MEADOR JEEP FOR DIAGNOSIS. ACCORDING TO CHRIS, THE SERVICE WRITER, THE ENGINE WAS "BLOWN" AND COULD BE REPAIRED FOR $12,000. THE ENGINE HAD ONLY 40K MILES ON IT. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE CHRYSLER 2.7 LITER V6 ENGINE ONLINE, AND HAVE FOUND THAT THESE ENGINES ARE NOTORIOUS FOR WATER SEEPING INTO THE OIL, CREATING A THICK SLUDGE THAT LEADS TO CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE.
WHITISH/GRAYISH SMOKE WAS BILLOWING OUT OF FRONT END OF CAR. PATRONS DRIVING ALERTED US & WE EXITED VEHICLE. AS WE VACATED VEHICLE WE REALIZED PURSE WAS STILL IN VEHICLE, WE RAN TO RETRIEVE IT & AS WE RETRIEVED BELONGINGS, FIRE ENGULFED FRONT END OF VEHICLE & SHOT THROUGH FRONT OF VEHICLE & ENGULFED THE ENTIRE FRONT PORTION OF VEHICLE & INSIDE OF VEHICLE. POWER STEERING FLUID DRIPPED ON ENGINE WHICH IGNITED THE FIRE. AS FIRE FIREFIGHTERS EXTINGUISHED THE FIRST FIRE & AS THE FIRST FIRE DIED DOWN THE VEHICLE ERUPTED IN FLAMES ONCE AGAIN WHICH WAS IGNITED BY FUEL. POWER STEERING FLUID AND BATTERY ACID CAUSING THE FLAMES TO SHOOT THROUGH THE FRONT END OF THE CAR (INSIDE) TO THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE TOWARDS FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS A POTENTIAL FIRE BALL. VEHICLE IS A CHARRED TOTALED SHELL OF A CAR. TOWED TO A TOWING/STORAGE LOT WAITING FOR INSPECTION BY FIELD ENGINEERS OF CHRYSLER AS WELL AS YOUR TEAM PER SABRINA CASE # 10733613.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2010 CHRYSLER SEBRING. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND EXITED. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
I WAS GETTING OFF THE FREEWAY AND THE CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND STUTTER SO I TURNED OFF THE MAIN ROAD AND THE ENGINE TURNED OFF AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. LUCKILY IT WAS A SUNDAY SO THERE WASN'T ANY TRAFFIC BEHIND ME BUT IF THERE HAD BEEN THERE COULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT SINCE I HAD NO CONTROL OVER POWER STEERING OR THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF. THERE WAS NO INDICATION ON THE DASH BOARD THAT THERE WAS A MAJOR ISSUE. I TRIED TO START IT A FEW TIMES BUT HAD TO WAIT OVER 5 MINUTES BEFORE IT FINALLY STARTED. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC THE NEXT DAY AND AFTER LOOKING IT OVER THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. IT DIDN'T MAKE SENSE BECAUSE I CHANGE THE OIL EVERY 3,000 MILES AND THE CHECK ENGINE ON THE CAR SAYS THERE IS A GAS CAP ISSUE. IT SAYS NOTHING ABOUT THE ENGINE HAVING A PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THE 2.7 ENGINE HAS ALOT OF PROBLEMS AND MINE HAD BUILT UP OIL SLUDGE. ONCE IN A WHILE THE CAR WOULD SAY TO CHANGE THE OIL OR SAY THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE OIL PRESSURE BUT EVERY TIME I TOOK IT IN TO GET CHECKED I WAS TOLD THE OIL IS FINE. WITHOUT THE DASH TELLING ME THERE IS A SERIOUS ISSUE A MECHANIC WILL NOT KNOW OF THE OIL SLUDGE PROBLEM UNTIL THEY TEAR APART THE ENGINE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS THE DASH WARNING SYSTEM IS SUPPOSED TO LET YOU KNOW WHEN THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE. I REALLY THINK CHRYSLER SHOULD STOP MAKING CARS ALL TOGETHER BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THERE IS NOT ENOUGH MEDIA OUT THERE LETTING US KNOW OF THIS. IT IS A BIG SAFETY HAZARD WE NEED TO KNOW WHEN THE ENGINE IS SO BAD IT MAY SHUT OFF IN TRAFFIC. AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER DAMAGED BY PROJECTILE THROUGH THE FRONT BUMPER. MY AC STOPPED BLOWING COOL SUDDENLY, WHILE ON VACATION. I HAD IT RECHARGED A FEW WEEKS EARLIER AND THINGS WERE FINE. A MASTER MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE CONDENSER WAS PIERCED BY AN OBJECT LIKE A ROCK, WHICH FLEW THROUGH THE UNGRILLED HOLES IN THE FRONT BUMPER. HE SAID CHRYSLER DESIGNED THE AC CONDENSER TO FIT BEHIND AND BELOW THE RADIATOR AND DID NOT DESIGN A GRILL TO PROTECT IT. HE MADE FUN OF ITALIANS (FIAT) WHO DO NOT KNOW HOW TO ENGINEER CARS. MY COST TO REPLACE THE CONDENSER AND REFILL THE COOLANT WAS $716. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CHRYSLER. *TR
I PASSED A VEHICLE ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY. WHEN MY ENGINE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY IT BEGAN SPUTTERING AND MISSING BADLY. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL TRUSTED MECHANIC. HE SAID THE GASKETS WERE ROTTEN AND OIL GOT INTO THE CYLINDERS. HE SAID THAT THIS DRY ROTTING OF RUBBER STUFF IS A COMMON PROBLEM HE SEES IN CHRYSLER. HE REPLACED VALVE COVER GASKETS AND GROMMETS, IGNITION COIL, AND SPARK PLUGS. I HAVE ALSO HAD A POPPING NOISE IN THE FRONT END. HE FOUND A DEFECTIVE FRONT WHEEL BEARING, WHEEL SPEED ABS SENSOR. MY LAST CALL ON TUES, 07/09/2013 IN THE AFTERNOON, I SPOKE WITH [XXX] WHO FIRST ATTENDED TO ME ON TUES 7/2/2013 WHEN THE CAR WAS TOWED IN FROM BAKER, CA AND LEFT FOR WARRANTY REPAIR, ETC, HE TOLD ME THAT THE MECHANIC TRIED 4 FREEZE PLUGS WHICH DID NOT WORK AND THEY ARE WAITING ON A FIFTH ONE WHICH WILL HOPEFULLY WILL WORK. NOTE: THE FIRST MECHANIC IN BAKER, CA WHO CHECKED THE CAR THERE ,TOLD ME THAT HE ORDERED, RECEIVED AND TRIED A FREEZE PLUG USING ALL OF THE DETAILS PERTAINING TO THE MANUFACTURE SPECIFICATIONS BUT THAT DID NOT WORK BECAUSE IT WAS TOO SMALL. THE AIR CONDITIONER FREEZE PLUG, RUBBER PART MELTED AND BLEW OUT FROM THE ENGINE. I HAVE SAVED IT.. I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT THE TYPE OF PLUG WITH RUBBER COULD CAUSE CONTINUOUS BLOWOUT AND THAT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN BASED ON THE 18,428 MILES THAT WAS ON THE CAR WHICH WAS PURCHASED NEW ON 12/24/2011 WITH 63 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AT THE TIME. FORTUNATELY, THE CAR BASIC WARRANTY IS STILL VALID TO HELP WITH THE REPAIR COST AFTER TOWING IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP THAT IS AN AUTHORIZED WARRANTY REPAIR SHOP. NOTE: I LEFT THE CAR FOR REPAIR ON TUES, JULY 2, 2013 BUT AS OF TODAY MONDAY, JULY 8TH, 2013, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET A DIAGNOSIS FROM THE DEALERSHIP REPAIR SHOP. I HAVE CALLED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BUT WAS TOLD THAT THEIR MECHANIC SHOP IS SHORTSTAFF AND I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY CAN GET TO CHECK THE CAR WHEN THERE ARE ENOUGH MECHANICS TO ATTEND TO ALL OF THE PENDING REPAIRS ON THE CARS THAT ARE WAITING FOR SERVICE AT THIS TIME. *TR

WE WE ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE OTHER SIDE OF FREEWAY TO PULL OFF AND THE CAR WENT OUT AGAIN AND WOULD NOT START.WE CALLED A TOLL TRUNK WHICH TOOK THEM AN HOUR TO GET TO US. WHAT HAD HAPPENED IS THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE INSIDE THE ENGINE AND MESSED UP A LOT OF OTHER THINGS INSIDE THE ENGINE. THE SAID THEY FIXED IT BUT AROUND 29,000 MILES AND 6 MONTHS WENT BY AND THE SAME THING OCCURRED AGAIN GETTING READY TO PULL OF AT MY MOMS HOUSE. THE CAR DEALER WOULD NOT FIX FOR FREE, THE MANUFACTURER ONLY OFFERED TO FIX THE TIMING CHANGE FOR HALF OFF. WHICH THE COST FOR THAT WAS $1800. THIS WAS DEFIANTLY A SAFETY ISSUE AND I DO NOT WANT THIS CAR EVEN THOUGH I'M PAYING MY CAR NOTE STILL ON TIME FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS. I AM SO DISSATISFIED WITH THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE DO AN INVESTIGATION. ON 16JUL2011 I TRIED TO TURN ON MY AIR CONDITION IN MY VEHICLE BUT ALL IT DID WAS BLOW HOT AIR. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO CHRYSLER GREENBRIER IN CHESAPEAKE VA WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. BEFORE THEY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE ONE OF THE SALES PERSON TOLD "WE'LL IM GOING TO TELL YOU NOW I WE FIND THAT YOUR AIR COMPRESSOR WAS DAMAGED WE CAN FIX IT BUT IT WILL NOT BE COVERED ON YOUR WARRANTY BECAUSE WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR NATURAL DAMAGE". AFTER THEY INSPECTED MY VEHICLE HE RESPONDED "I HAVE BAD NEWS YOUR COMPRESSOR HAS A HOLE, MAYBE A ROCK HIT IT" AND THE PRICE TO FIX IT WOULD BE 1,500. I EXPLAINED TO HIM I DID NOT HAVE ANY ACCIDENTS, DID NOT HIT ANYTHING AT ALL. I HAVE CONTACTED THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. THEY STATED CHRYSLER RESPONDED THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. I AM SO UPSET I JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE LAST YEAR SEPTEMBER AND HAVE BEEN WITHOUT AIR CONDITION SINCE JULY OF THIS YEAR. *TR
