SINCE THE DAY I DROVE MY VAN OFF OF THE DEALERS LOT, ALL OF THE LIGHTS (MAP LIGHTS, DOME LIGHT AND HEADLIGHTS) ON THE VAN PULSE (SIMILAR TO THE PULSE OF A FLOURESCENT TUBE WARMING UP ON A COLD DAY). THE SPEED OF THE PULSE CHANGES WITH THE SPEED OF THE ENGINE. THE VAN HAS BEEN TO TWO DIFFERENT 5-STAR DEALERS AND THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. SOMETHING IN THE COMPUTER WAS UPGRADED ONCE. EVERY OIL CHANGE THEY TRY TO DETERMINE IF/WHAT MIGHT BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM; TO NO AVAIL. BECAUSE THE SPEED OF THE PULSE CHANGES WITH THE ENGINE RPMS AND FROM OTHER PERSONAL EXPERIENCES, MY HUSBAND BELIEVES IT IS THE ALTERNATOR CURRENT BLEEDING INTO THE REST OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS, BUT BECAUSE THE ALTERNATOR DOESN'T TEST BAD ACCORDING TO THEIR COMPUTER THEY ARE UNWILLING TO CONSIDER THIS POSSIBILITY. *AK
TODAY MY CHRYSLER T&C BROKE DOWN ON ME. I WAS VERY UPSET THAT THIS HAPPENED TO ME IT'S NOT EVEN 1 YEAR OLD YET. I HAD TO LEAVE IT AT THE DEALER OVER THE WEEKEND AND THAT IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE. I TRIED TO GET A RENTAL BUT THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME A $50.00 DEPOSIT WHEN WE WOULD USUALLY PAY A $5.00 ONE NOT ONLY THAT, I HAVE A SERVICE CONTRACT WITH CHRYSLER AND MY OWN AUTO INSURANCE IT'S SAD TO KNOW THAT I HAD TO FIND A RIDE HOME, AND FIND SOMEONE TO PICK UP MY KIDS FROM SCHOOL WHILE I WAS STRANDED WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK TO ARRIVE. I DONT THINK THIS IS FAIR TO ME BECAUSE WE PAID A PRETTY PENNY FOR ALL THE EXTRA COVERAGE 7YR. OR 7000 MILES AND TO GET TREATED THIS WAY...PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!! THANK YOU *LA
I BOUGHT A 2002 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY IN AUGUST, 2002. IN OCTOBER, 2002, I HAD TO RETURN VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A COMPUTER PROBLEM. THE TRANSMISSION DID FINE UNTIL AROUND THE MIDDLE OF 2003 WHEN I NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AGAIN. THE CAR WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP IN JULY 2002, AND THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE OVER HAULED. THEY WOULD NOT PUT IN A NEW TRANSMISSION. SOMETHING ABOUT THE 70% RULE. I PICKED UP THE CAR ON 8/30/03 FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND THE CAR IS RUNNING OK NOW. I AM JUST WONDERING IF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ON THIS VEHICLE.*AK
THERE IS A LOUD SQUEALING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP STATED THIS IS COMING FROM A PART IN THE ENGINE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM, BUT FAILED. THE NOISE STILL OCCURS. PH
RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW EXPLODED INTO VEHICLE WITHOUT WINDOW BEING HIT.CONTACTED DEALER.*AK *SLC
THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. *JB AS THE CONSUMER PULLED INTO THE PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING, THEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK, RESTARTED, AND CONTINUED INTO THE PARKING SPACE. ON ANOTHER OCCASION THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING, RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, PLACED IN DRIVE AND STALLED AGAIN. THERE WAS AN INTERMITTENT CLICK NOISE WHEN THE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, THE A/C FAN NOISE, THE SUSPENSION FELT LOOSE AND LEANED TO LEFT, UNEVEN TIRE WEAR, CLUNK NOISE IN THE FRONT END WHEN COMING TO A STOP, WHEN TURNING, AND PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE TIRES MEET A RESISTANCE,THE GAS PEDAL VIBRATED, AND THERE WAS A GROANING NOISE IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND OR THE ENGINE WHEN TURNING OR WHEN IN REVERSE. THE MOTOR MOUNT WAS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY AND WAS REPOSITIONED PROPERLY. SCC
CONSUMER WAS IN MOTION WHEN A LOUD EXPLOSION WAS HEARD AND REALIZED THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDER WINDOW HAD JUST SHATTERED AND THE VEHICLE WAS FULL OF GLASS. CONSUMER HOPES THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION WILL REIMBURSE FOR MONIES PAID FOR REPAIRS. *JG
THE FUEL GAUGE DID NOT GIVE THE CORRECT READING. *JB THE MILEAGE INDICATOR FLUCTUATED. THE FUEL LEAK DETECTION PUMP HOSE WAS REPLACED DUE TO BROKEN PARTS. SCC
HEADLAMPS FAIL WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. SOMETIMES FLICKER AND COME BACK ON. WE DON'T DRIVE MUCH AT NIGHT, WE HAVE OWNED THIS VAN FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS. WE HAVE DRIVEN IT 5 OR 6 TIMES AT NIGHT, AND WE HAVE HAD HEADLIGHT FAILURE 3 TIMES. AFTER THE 2ND INCIDENT, WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY FLASHED THE VEHICLE COMPUTER MEMORY. THE FIRST TWO TIMES WE HAD THE PROBLEM, THE LIGHTS FLICKERED AND CAME BACK ON. THE LAST TIME WE HAD THE PROBLEM, THE LIGHTS WENT ON/OFF SEVERAL TIMES (3 OR 4) IN A SPAN OF ABOUT 5 MINUTES. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE SWITCH INSIDE THE VEHICLE IS GETTING HOT DURING HEADLIGHT OPERATION. *JB
TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS HARD. TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ALWAYS GO INTO REVERSE GEAR WHEN IN PARK. DEALERSHIP UNABLE TO FIX IT AT THIS TIME. AM TOLD IT IS A COMPUTER PROGRAM ERROR.*AK
WHILE FILLING UP GAS TANK CONSUMER NOTICED GAS LEAKING ONTO THE GROUND. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND THEY STATED THAT ROLLING VALVE SEPARATED FROM FUEL TANK. FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLYAND MOMENTARILY REMAIN ON WHILE DRIVING. DEALER NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
ENGINE CHECK LIGHT WOULD REMAIN ON WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER, AND THEY INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN FUEL SYSTEM, AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK

WHILE DRIVING THERE IS A GAS SMELL IN THE CAB. GAS LEAKING OUT AS FAST AS ONE PUMPS IT IN. CONSUMER IS CONCERNED ABOUT A FIRE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON WHILE DRIVING. DEALER KEEPS TELLING ME IT IS FIXED. PASSENGER SLIDER KEEPS STICKING WHEN COLD, IT DOES NOT OPEN BY REMOTE. CHILD SEAT BELT HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED, AND STILL DOES NOT LATCH WELL.
POWER STEERING - WHINING, GROANING NOISE AND SHUTTERS OR VIBRATES IN LOW SPEED PARKING SITUATIONS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE THE FIRST DAY I DROVE THE CAR OFF THE LOT BACK IN 2002. THE DEALER DID POWER STEERING RECALL WORK AND A PROCEDURE TO BLEED AIR FROM THE SYSTEM BUT THERE WAS NO CHANGE. *LA
THE SEAT BELTS IN MY 2002 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY HAVE COME UNDONE 4 TIMES IN THE REAR SEAT WHILE ENDURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. I NOW HAVE AN INFANT IN THE SEAT AND IT IS VERY VISUAL HOW THE INFANT SEAT COULD HIT THE RESTRAINT LATCH IN THE SEAT BELT IN NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS OR IN AN IMPACT. *NLM
ENGINE SPUTTERING AND FAILURE OCCURED AT 23000 MILES WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE SERVICED BY DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, REPLACING AND REPAIRING ELECTRICAL SYSTEM COMPONENTS. DEALER HAS REPLACED WIRING HARNESS/ IGINITION COILS, BARE ELECTRICAL WIRE SHORTED/ PCM REPLACED/REPLACED CLOCK SPRING TWICE, AND REPLACED FRONT CONTROL MODULE. CONSUMER WASVERY CONCERNED ABOUT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. DOES NOT FEEL VEHICLE IS SAFE.*AK
2002 TOWN & COUNTRY STEERING COLUMN FAILED. *TS ***NAR*** A NEW STEERING PUMP HAD TO BE ORDERED. *JB
REMOTE CONTROL FOR POWER TAILGATE WAS ACTIVATED IN GARAGE AND FORCED GARAGE DOOR TO OPEN HALF WAY, RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE DOOR AND TAIL GATE. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AKL
VEHICLE WANDERS ALL OVER THE ROAD AT ANY SPEED, IN WET CONDITIONS VEHICLE SWAYS. TAKEN TO DEALER 3 TIMES, CANNOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM.*AK
PRIOR TO 15K MILES, REAR HATCH ON VAN WILL NOT OPEN. BOUNCED BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN SEVERAL DEALERS AND NEVER REPAIRED. # YEARS AND 60K MILES LATER, CHRYSLER SAYS THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED AND THAT THEY ARE NOT LIABLE. ALL COMPLAINTS AND REAIR ATTEMPTS ARE DOCUMENTED.
MULTIPLE OIL LEAKS DURING A 7 MONTH PERIOD FROM 4/02-1/03 FOR A TOTAL OF 6 REPORTED TIMES RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP. DEALER HAS INSTALLED SEVERAL NEW PARTS INCLUDING OIL FILTER ADAPTER O-RING, OIL FILTER ADAPTER, ADAPTER SEAL, OIL COOLER (TWICE), HOSE TO OIL COOLER/ADAPTER. SINCE 6 REPORTED LEAKS AND LAST REPAIR ON 1/15/03, HAVE NOTICED 1 OR 2 DROPS OF OIL ON GARAGE FLOOR, BUT I AM NOT CERTAIN IT IS FIXED FOR GOOD. CURRENTLY WE ARE IN ARBITRATION THROUGH THE NCDS BECAUSE OF THIS AND OTHER REPAIRS REPEATEDLY PERFORMED. *JB
REAR SEAT BELT LATCH AROUND CHILD CAR SEAT WILL MYSTERIOUSLY UNBUCKLE. PROPER INSTALLATION OF THE CAR SEAT HAS BEEN VERIFIED SEVERAL TIMES BUT LATCH SEEMS TO UNBUCKLE AFTER NORMAL MOVEMENT OF MY CHILD IN THE SEAT. MY RESEARCH INTO THIS ISSUE REVEALED THAT CHRYSLER INSTALLED GEN III LATCHES IN THE REAR OF OUR VAN EVEN THOUGH THERE IS EVIDENCE SHOWING THAT THEY ARE UNSAFE. THIS IS A VERY FRIGHTENING SITUATION AND I WILL BE CONTACTING THE DEALER TO TRY AND NEGOTIATE REPLACEMENT OF ALL REAR SEAT LATCHES IN THIS VEHICLE. I HOPE THAT THESE LATCHES WILL BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE GETS INJURED.*AK
AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES WITHOUT ANY CAUSE. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT THERE IS CURRENTLY NO REMEDY. PROBLEM STILL EXSISTS. *AK *YD
AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING, AND CRUISE CONTROL WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE CLOCK SPRING RECALL. *AK
CONSUMER STATES EXCESSIVE FORCE HAS TO BE APPLIED IN ORDER FOR THE HORN TO WORK, CONTACTED DEALER .*JB
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE CAR, THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE AND THEN THE STEERING WHEEL COMES LOSE. IT DOES NOT PHYSICALLY DETACH FROM THE STEERING COLUMN, BUT IT ROCKS FREELY BACK AND FORTH. ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AFTER THIS CAUSES A GRINDING SOUND AND IS UNSTABLE DUE TO THE ROCKING MOTION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON MARCH 6, AND A CHRYSLER DEALER SERVICED THE CAR ON MARCH 7 USING TSB 19-008-01 AS A SERVICE PROCEDURE. THE EXACT SAME FAILURE OCCURRED THE NEXT DAY, AFTER SERVICING. A DIFFERENT CHRYSLER DEALER SERVICED IT USING TSB 19-008-01 WHICH INVOLVES INSERTING A SHIM. TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE STEERING COLUMN AND CHRYSLER WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE IT.*JB
CONSUMER STATED THAT THERE WAS A WIND NOISE ON THE RIGHT SLIDING DOOR AREA WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN SPEEDS OF 45-50. *YH
ENGINE SURGES AND CUTS OUT BETWEEN 40 AND 60 MPH. ON OCCASION IT STOPS RUNNING. TS
2002 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY EX. AIR BAG LIGHT CONSTANTLY ON SINCE TWO WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE NEW VEHICLE IN 2002. WAS TAKEN INTO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. WITHIN 2 DAYS, AIR BAG LIGHT IS BACK ON. SEVERAL TIMES LATER NO SOLUTION. THIS PROBLEM IS SIMILAR TO A DOCUMENTED RECALL ON PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS OF THIS VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEEN OVER 5 YEARS NOW AND NO SOLUTION. I BELIEVE CHRYSLER SHOULD HAVE A RECALL FOR THE 2002 YEAR MODEL FOR THIS ONGOING PROBLEM. *JB
WHILE VEHICLE WAS WARMING UP A STRONG ODOR AND SMOKE ESCAPED FROM DEFROSTER UNIT INTO PASSENGER'S COMPARTMENT DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL SHORT CIRCUIT THAT RESULTED IN A FIRE. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. *AK *SC THE PART(S) WERE ON BACK ORDER ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER. THE CONSUMER LATER LEARNED THAT CHRYSLER CHANGED SUPPLIERS OF THE SWITCH. THE INTERNAL SHIFT LIGHT AND OR (THE PRNDL) WAS ERRATIC, IN WHICH IT WOULD SOMETIMES BE HIGHLIGHTED. *SC *JB
CHRYSLER LEFT AN OPENING IN THE BODY OF THE VAN THAT HAS ALLOWED MICE TO ENTER THE INTERIOR OF THE VAN, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE SEAT BELTS AND LEATHER INTERIOR UPHOLSTERY. NESTS HAVE BEEN MADE UNDER THE SEATS AND IN THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. VAN HAS LESS THAN 800 MILES AND WAS PURCHASED ON NOV. 24, 2002.*AK
DURING OPERATION OF VEHICLE AN UNKNOWN OBJECT STRUCK AIR CONDITIONER LINE, CAUSING LINE TO BREAK AND SPRAY FLUID OVER THE UNDERCARRIAGE. CONSUMER IS CONCERNED THAT THIS FLUID COULD CONTACT A HOT COMPONENT, SUCH AS EXHAUST SYSTEM) AND RESULT IN A FIRE BECAUSE HYDRAULIC LINES HAVE NO SHIELDING OVER THEM FOR PROTECTION. DEALERSHIP IS REPAIRING THIS PROBLEM AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / DOCUMENTATION.*AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WOULD STALL OUT, THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK *YD
TAILGATE WILL OPEN WHILE DRIVING, AUTOMATIC SYSTEM WILL CLOSE TAILGATE, BUT INTERMITTENTLY WILL NOT LATCH IT. NO AJAR WARNING LIGHT. THE LATCH PRE-ENGAGED BEFORE THE TAILGATE WAS CLOSED PREVENTING IT FROM CLOSING. DEALER RE-PROGRAMMED THE TAILGATE AND THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE CORRECTED.
GENERATION 3 SEAT BELTS MAY BE DANGEROUS. *CB
PROBLEMS WITH THE BRIGHTNESS OF VEHICLE'S LOW BEAMS.*MR *CB
CONSUMER COMPLAINT CONCERNING 2002 TOWN AND COUNTRY FAULTY A/C COMPRESSOR. *TS THE CONSUMER LEARNED THAT THE WARRANTY HAD BEEN EXTENDED BY CHRYSLER. WHEN THE CONSUMER CALLED TO CONFIRM, HER CLAIM WAS DENIED BECAUSE THE WORK WAS DONE AT AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. THE CONSUMER TRIED TO EXPLAIN THAT SHE DIDN'T RECEIVE ANY TYPE OF LETTER AND THAT SOMEONE HAD ACTUALLY TOLD HER. *JB
BASED UPON THE REPORTED SAFETY DEFECTS WITH THE GEN 3 SEATBELTS WHEN CAN HE NHTSA TO DO SOMETHING OR WILL WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR MORE PEOPLE TO DIE LIKE WITH FIRESTONE BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE. *AK
CONSUMER IS CONCERNED THAT VEHICLE CAN BE DRIVEN WITH POWER OPERATED SLIDING DOOR OPEN. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT THE WARNING CHIME AND VISUAL WARNING LIGHT WERE NOT SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH FOR CONSUMER TO REALIZE THAT THE SLIDING DOOR WAS OPEN, CAUSING CONSUMER TO SMASH INTO HIS GARAGE DOOR WHEN PARKING. *SLC
AIR BAG SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT. 6 MILES AFTER WE BOUGHT VEHICLE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND TOOK TO DEALER AND FAULTY ITEM WAS REPLACED. SINCE THEN THE WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES. EACH TIME THE VAN WAS TOOK IN TO GET FIXED. BY THE TIME THE 5TH WARNING LIGHT CAME ON(JULY 15) WE WERE TOLD THE MODULE WAS PUTTING OUT FALSE SIGNALS. IN ONE INSTANCE WE WERE DRIVING OUR VAN FOR A WEEK WITH THE LIGHT ON WAITING FOR THE REPLACEMENT PART AND WAS TOLD THE VAN WAS PERFECTLY SAFE TO DRIVE. THE SIXTH TIME WE TOOK IT IN(JULY 30, MILAGE ONLY AT 3499) THE WARNING LIGHT WAS GOING ON AND OFF EVERY FEW SECONDS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE WIRING WAS CORROSIVE AND THEY COULD PUT A TEMP FIX ON IT BY CLEANING/SPRAYING WIRING THAT WOULD LAST UP TO 3/5 MONTHS. I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THAT DUE TO SAFETY ISSUES. THEY ALSO TOLD US THAT IF THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON THE AIRBAGS WOULD NOT WORK PROPERLY. WHICH UPSET US DUE TO THE TIME WE WERE DRIVING THE VAN FOR A WEEK WITH LIGHT ON DUE TO THEM SAYING IT WOULD BE SAFE. WE CONTACTED DIAMLER CHRYSLER JULY 15TH AND FILED A COMPLAINT. TWO WEEKS AFTER LAST VISIT (30 JULY) CONTACTED DEALER TO SEE IF SOLUTION TO PROBLEM WAS FOULD YET BECAUSE WAS UNCOMFORTABLE WITH TEMP FIX. NOW THEY WILL BE DOING A COMPLETE REWIRING ON 21 AUGUST. HOPING THIS WILL BE THE LAST AND FINAL TIME I HAVE TO TAKE IT IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. DUE TO SAFETY ISSUES OF AIR BAGS AND THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY, I WANTED TO INFORM YOU OF THE PROBLEMS GOING ON WITH OUR VAN. AND TO FIND OUT ANY IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT PROBLEMS CURRENTLY HAPPENING. THANK YOU.*AK
DRIVER'S MOTORIZED POWER SEAT WILL POP ON BOTTOM, POSSIBLY WHERE THE SEAT BACK JOINS SEAT BOTTOM. SEAT BOTTOM HAS A SLIGHT MOVEMENT.MANUFACTURER HAS ISSUED A TSB AND VAN HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP 7 TIMES WITH PROBLEM NOT REMEDIED. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS.AK
