POWER STEERING GOES OUT. SO FAR THIS HAS BEEN JUST WHEN I TURN THE VEHICLE ON, BUT IT'S HAPPENED 3 TIMES NOW AND YESTERDAY WAS ACCOMPANIED BY A SQUEAL. *TR
2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. POWER STEERING FAILURE AT 29352 MILES LOST ALL FLUID AND REPLACED POWER STEERING COOLER NOW AT 42703 I AM TOLD POWER STEERING GEAR LEAKING AT OUTER BOOTS $800 REPAIR. *TR
REAR ROTORS DELAMINATED CAUSING SEVERE VIBRATION WHILE BRAKING AND PARTIAL LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY IN VEHICLE LESS THAN 4 YR OLD WITH 42K MILES. I HAVE RETAINED THE ROTORS AND CAN SEND PHOTOGRAPHS IF REQUESTED
IN MARCH OF 2009 WE PURCHASED A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN&COUNTRY MINIVAN FROM A CHRYSLER DEALER WITH 27K MILES ON IT. I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. IN THE PAST MONTH I REALIZED THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON AND THIS WEEK I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR. THE DEALER CONTACTED ME AND TOLD ME THE 2 SENSORS IN THE FRONT WERE RUSTED AND CORRODED AND THAT THEY NO LONGER WERE SENDING A SIGNAL RENDERING THEM USELESS. THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE $401 TO FIX. I TOLD THEM I HAD NEVER HEARD OF AIRBAG SENSORS CORRODING AND THAT IS SOUNDED LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE. THEY TOLD ME IT HAPPENS SOME TIMES. I CHECKED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 05/06 VANS. I CALLED THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM I WAS UPSET THAT THEY DIDN'T TELL ME THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. THEY CLAIMED THAT THEY NEVER HEARD OF IT. BASED ON WHAT I HAVE READ, IT SOUNDS LIKE CHRYSLER IS DOING A VOLUNTARY FIX ON ABOUT 350,000 VEHICLES. HOW DO I GET MINE FIXED WITHOUT PAYING THE $400? I ALREADY HAD TO PAY THE DEALER $100 JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE AND $35 FOR A RENTAL CAR BECAUSE IT WAS NOT A WARRANTY OR RECALL REPAIR. *TR
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON. *TR
SIGNAL LIGHT WOULD FLASH RIGHT, WHEN INDICATOR WAS SWITCHED TO FLASH LEFT. FORTUNATELY THIS ONLY ANGERED SEVERAL MOTORISTS, AND ACCIDENTS WERE AVOIDED. CHECKED FOR BAD GROUNDS IN ACCESSIBLE PLACES, ALL WIRING APPEARS INTACT. REPLACED SIGNAL SWITCH ARM AND MODULE TO SUCCESSFULLY CORRECT ISSUE. *TR
POWER STEERING FLUID LEAK. REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF RACK AND PINION. *TR
INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL TURN SIGNALS INTERMITTENTLY BLINK THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT IS EXPECTED. WHEN TURNING ON THE LEFT SIGNAL THE SIGNALS OCCASIONALLY BLINK RIGHT AND VISA VERSA. THIS MALFUNCTION MAY OCCUR TWO OR THREE TIMES IN A ROW AND THEN IT WILL WORK CORRECTLY FOR A DAY OR WEEK OR MORE. IT IS UNPREDICTABLE. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS AS TRAILING OR ONCOMING DRIVERS RESPOND TO THE INCORRECT SIGNALS. THE LOCAL CHRYSLER SERVICE PEOPLE ARE NOT ABLE TO WORK ON THIS PROBLEM IF IT ISN'T OCCURRING WHEN THEY WORK ON THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, PROCEEDING TO MAKE A TURN. THERE WAS A LOUD WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED THE CONTACT DETECTED POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKAGE ON THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE STEERING RACK AND PINION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
NOISE IN FRONT END WHINING NOISE TOOK TO CARROLS AUTO WAS TOLD THIS IS THE 12TH ONE THIS YEAR ALREADY. RACK AND PINION MECHANISM LEAKING FLUID AT BOOTS. REPLACE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY. THERE ARE OTHERS ON WEBSITE WITH SAME ISSUES. COST IS ROUGHLY $1000 TO REPLACE WITH LABOR. THIS COULD CAUSE FAILURE OF PUMP ASSEBLY ALSO
2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN. CONSUMER SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT FOR AIRBAG REPAIRS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND WAS INFORMED THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS FAULTY. *JB
WHEN PURCHASED IN 2009 THE VEHICLE HAD A JUST UNDER 36000 MILES ON IT AND NEEDED THE ELECTRONIC LOCK/UNLOCK MECHANISM REPLACED ON THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR. AT ~40000 WE HAD TO REPLACE THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS. WE BOUGHT CERAMIC BRAKES WITH LIFE TIME WARRANTY. VEHICLE RETURNED TO THE SERVICE STATION 4 TIMES IN THE NEXT 6 MONTHS FOR SQUEALING/GRINDING BRAKES. EACH TIME THEY HAD TO SHAVE THE ROTORS BECAUSE THEY WERE WARPED. WE WERE TOLD THIS WAS A DEFAULT WITH T&CS. WE AGAIN NEED NEW ROTORS. THE AWFUL GRINDING NOISE WHEN BRAKING IS HORRIFIC. LATE 2010 THE AIR BAG LIGHT STARTED RANDOMLY GOING OFF AND ON WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL. THOUGH I AM REGISTERED AT CHRYSLER.COM I NEVER RECEIVED RECALL INFORMATION BUT HAVE RECENTLY FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT THING. NOW, AT JUST TURNED 64000 MILES WE NEED A NEW ENGINE BECAUSE OF A ROD. YET AGAIN WE WERE TOLD BY TWO DIFFERENT SERVICE STATIONS THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. FRUSTRATING DOES NOT EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE WHAT WE ARE GOING THROUGH NOW. 1 PARENT OUT OF WORK FOR A YEAR AND 4 CHILDREN TO SUPPORT WHICH REQUIRES A VEHICLE TO DRIVE TO WORK SINCE THE AREA DOES NOT BELIEVE IN MASS PUBLIC TRANSIT OUTSIDE OF RIDING A MINIMUM OF 4 BUSES TO GO 20 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN. THE DRIVER STATED THAT WHEN HE GOT INTO HIS VEHICLE AND STARTED IT, THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR 5 TO 10 MINUTES AFTER HE BEGAN DRIVING. THE DRIVER ALSO STATED THAT IT WOULD NOT SHUT OFF UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. THE DRIVER CONTACTED THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,200.
2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY 60,000 MILES BRAKE FAILURE, AIR IN THE BRAKE FLUID, CAUSING BRAKES TO BECOME INOPERABLE. FRONT CALIPER REBUILT, BRAKES BLED, GOOD FOR A COUPLE WEEKS THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. *TR
MY CAR WAS MAKING A WHINING NOISE WHEN THE ENGINE WAS COLD. I BROUGHT IT IN TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER, AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS LEAKING, WHICH HAD RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO THE RACK & PINION MECHANISM. THE ENTIRE MECHANISM HAD TO BE REPLACED. NOT PERFORMING THIS REPAIR COULD HAVE RESULTED IN THE ENTIRE STEERING SYSTEM LOCKING UP. MY PROFESSIONAL OPINION (I AM A MECHANICAL ENGINEER) IS THAT THIS PUMP SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE (~45K). *TR
THERE WAS A FLUID LEAK AT THE POWER STEERING RACK THEY REPLACED GEAR-RACK AND PINION. PARTS $394.60 LABOR $456.00 FLUID POWER STEERING $19.60 - SERVICE COMPLETED UNDER IWS. EXTENDED WARRANTY TOTAL INVOICE $ 850.60 MILEAGE 61,394. *TR
I HIT A POWER POLE AND A DITCH AT 55MPH. THE CAR WENT AIRBORN, HIT THE POLE, SPUN AROUND AND LANDED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THAT I DID NOT DECELERATE FAST ENOUGH FOR THE AIRBAGS TO GO OFF. I WAS INJURED SLIGHTLY BUT MY SEAT BELT WAS ON. THE KEY WAS JAMMED IN THE IGNITION AND TWISTED AND THE CAR WAS SHUT DOWN. THE IMPACT WAS THAT HARD. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THE AIRBAGS WOULD NOT GO OFF. THE STATE TROOPER, INSURANCE COMPANY AND THE MAN WHO OWNS THE GARAGE WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED ALL SAID IN THEIR PROFESSIONAL OPINION THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF. I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO TURN AT THIS POINT. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING FROM WHAT I SAW ON THE NEWS THAT THE AIRBAG SENSORS MAY BE BEING RECALLED IN THE NEAR FUTURE. HOWEVER, I DON'T FEEL LIKE THEY ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE AT ALL. I WAS ALONE IN THE VEHICLE AND I WAS ON MY HOME FROM WORK AFTER A 12 1/2 HOUR SHIFT. I DID FALL ASLEEP AND WAS LESS THAN ONE MILE FROM MY HOME. *TR
2006 TOWN & COUNTRY VAN FAILED NYS INSPECTION FOR SAFETY REASONS DUE TO RACK AND PINION LEAKING SEALS. VEHICLE HAD UNDER 48,000 MILES. PURCHASED NEW 12/31/2005. RACK & PINION WAS REPLACED BUT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. NEIGHBOR REPORTED SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2006 TOWN & COUNTRY VAN. ALSO HAD PART REPLACED. ARE THESE ALL DEFECTIVE STEERING COMPONENTS? GRINDING HUMMING NOISE WITH POWER STEERING. CHRYSLER MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT CHRYSLER DID NOT MAKE THE HOSE LONG ENOUGH SO IT GETS CLOGGED AND CAUSES PROBLEMS. TOLD ME ALSO THAT RACK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT IS LEAKING. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. I PAID FOR THE NEW HOSE SO FAR BUT DON'T WANT TO PAY $1000 FOR A NEW RACK WHEN IT IS THEIR FAULT. *TR
MY 2006 TOWN AND COUNTRY MINI VAN HAS LOST ALL POWER STEERING DRIVING THROUGH MODEST PUDDLES. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN GOING THROUGH MODEST PUDDLES (APPROXIMATELY 6 INCHES DEEP), AND HAS ONLY HAPPENED AT LOW RATES OF SPEED. IT HAS HAPPENED ON 4 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, ALL STEERING IS COMPLETELY LOST. THE VEHICLE QUITE LITERALLY WILL NOT STEER AT ALL, BUT THEN THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY "COMES OUT" OF IT - AFTER DRIVING AND ATTEMPTING TO TURN FOR MAYBE 1/8 MILE. ALMOST AS IF WHAT EVER MOISTURE CAUSED THE PROBLEM EVAPORATES. THE LAST OCCURRENCE WAS THIS PAST JANUARY. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT WENT ON IN MY 2006 CHRYSLER T&C VAN, TOOK TO DEALERSHIP TO CHECK OUT. FOUND OUT ON LINE PREVIOUS YEAR 2005 HAD A RECALL FOR EXACT SAME PROBLEM (OVER 250,000) VEHICLES, SINCE MY YEAR DID NOT HAVE A RECALL REQUIRED TO PAY 320.00 FOR REPAIR. DON'T UNDERSTAND, SINCE OBVIOUSLY PROBLEM STILL EXISTS WHY I HAD TO PAY FOR REPAIRS THAT WERE DONE FOR CARS ONE YEAR OLDER THAN MINE. CHRYSLER BASICALLY TOLD ME SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL IT WAS MY PROBLEM. IF I DID NOT GET THIS FIXED I WOULD HAVE HAD TO DRIVE NOT KNOWING IF AIRBAGS WOULD WORK OR WORK WHEN NOT NEEDED. ONLY HAPPENS IN CAR IN COLD WEATHER STATES CORROSION OF ELECTRICAL WIRE TO AIRBAGS WHICH I THEN SHORTS OUT SENSORS. *TR

ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED TO THE MIDDLE PASSENGERS SIDE WINDOW. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE AN EXPLANATION FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT WAS 30,000.
I OWN A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. I'VE HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH IT SINCE I GOT IT, BUT THE PROBLEM TODAY SEEMS DANGEROUS. MY OVERHEAD READING LIGHT (PART # PC579) BURNED OUT. WHEN I WENT TO REPLACE IT, I FOUND THAT THE PLASTIC HOUSING FOR THE BULB HAD MELTED WHERE THE CONTACT IS AND WAS BURNT ALL AROUND THE BULB. I THEN CHECKED THE PASSENGERS SIDE, AND IT WAS BURNT AND STARTING TO MELT TOO. ALSO, WHEN THE DEALER TRIED TO REPLACE THE BULB FOR ME, THE PART DIDN'T FIT, AND THEY SAID IT HAD BEEN 'UPDATED' AND THAT THE OLD TYPE WASN'T AVAILABLE ANYMORE. THE MECHANIC THEN FILED DOWN THE PLASTIC TO GET IT TO FIT IN THE SOCKET. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE BURNING AND MELTING OF THE BULB WASN'T OUT OF THE ORDINARY; THEY SAID IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. LOOKING AT IT, IT APPEARS TO BE AS DESIGN FLAW THAT COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A FIRE. THE BULB FACES UPWARD INTO A CHROME DOME THAT THEN REFLECTS THE LIGHT BACK TO ILLUMINATE THE CAR FOR VIEWING MAPS, READING, ETC. IT SEEMS TO BE A PRETTY DANGEROUS DESIGN THAT COULD CAUSE PROBLEMS AGAIN AND MAKES ME NERVOUS. *TR

POWER STEERING SYSTEM HAS BEEN WHINING AND STEERING HAS SHUDDERED WHEN TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS. SAME CONDITION EXISTS ON THREE OTHER CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY MINIVANS OWNED BY DIFFERENT FAMILY MEMBERS FROM 2006 THROUGH 2009 MODELS. FOUND MANY OTHER OWNERS COMPLAINING OF SAME CONDITION ON OTHER WEBSITES. SOME HAD TWO AND THREE RACK AND PINION RACKS REPLACED WHICH SEEMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR A SHORT WHILE. MY MECHANIC THOUGHT IT WAS AIR LEAKING INTO THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE HAVING THE OIL CHANGED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SHE WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE WAS LOW ON OIL. THE OIL WAS REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS LATER WHILE HAVING THE OIL CHANGED BY THE SAME INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SHE WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE MUST BE BURNING OIL BECAUSE IT WAS AGAIN EXTREMELY LOW ON OIL AND THERE WERE NO LEAKS. THE OIL WAS AGAIN REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS LATER WHILE PARKED THE OIL LIGHT BEGAN ILLUMINATING ON THE DASHBOARD. MORE OIL WAS ADDED TO THE VEHICLE AND THE OIL LIGHT STOPPED ILLUMINATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED IT WAS BURNING OIL AT A NORMAL RATE SO IT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUES TO RECUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,000.

THE FAILURE RECURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE TYPE OF REPAIR BEING PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
SEAT BELTS "LOCK UP" ON MY 2006 CHRYSLER MINIVAN. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS OCCASIONALLY - POSSIBLY 4-5 TIMES IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS. THE SEAT BELTS WILL NEITHER RETRACT NOR ADVANCE BUT ARE INSTEAD LOCKED IN PLACE. THE BELT ULTIMATELY SEEMS TO "CORRECT ITSELF" AFTER A FEW HOURS OF SITTING. THE PROBLEM IS EXCLUSIVELY TO THE SEAT BELTS IN THE MIDDLE ROW CAPTAIN CHAIRS. YET THIS IS WHERE MY CHILDREN SIT. IN THE PAST, WE HAVE NEEDED TO MOVE THEIR CAR SEATS TO THE REAR TO BELT THEM IN. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED IN 2008 IF THIS WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED IT WAS NOT AND WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT FIXED. THE LAST OCCURRENCE WAS DECEMBER 2009. *TR
FIRST NOTICED THAT THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM WHINES DURING A HIGHWAY TRIP MICHIGAN TO TENNESEE IN 2010. THOUGHT THE FLUID WAS LOW SO TOPPED IT OFF. FAST FORWARD ONE YEAR LATER AND 12,000 MILES AND THE WHINE OCCURS MORE OFTEN AND LOUDER. BY THE SPRING OF 2011 HAD THE SYSTEM FLUSHED ($40). WHINING CONTINUED. FOUND ON INTERNET BLOGS THAT FILTER/RESERVOIR COULD BE PLUGGED WITH DEBRI. TECH CONFIRMED THIS AT THE SECOND FLUSH($20). THIS SERVICE SEEMED TO WORK FOR ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE WHINE CAME BACK. THIRD FLUSH ($69) WORKED FOR A 1000 MILE TRIP AND SOME, BUT WHINE IS BACK AT HIGH SPEED AND HIGH TEMPERATURE DAYS (ABOVE 80F). NOW, I'M NOTICING POWER STEERING FLUID DROPS ON THE GARAGE FLOOR. JUST UNDER 60000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I FEAR BASED ON ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS, I WILL HAVE $1000 RACK AND PINION REPAIR TO LOOK FORWARD TO. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON THIS WINTER DURING SNOWY SLOPPY WEATHER CONDITIONS, INDICATING AN AIR BAG SAFETY FAILURE ON OUR 2006 TOWN AND COUNTRY MINI VAN. IT HAS REMAINED ON ALL WINTER. WE TALKED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THEY WOULD FIX IT BUT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. OUR CONCERN IS WHY CHRYSLER IS WAITING SO LONG TO ISSUE A RECALL. THIS COULD BE A LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION SINCE THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY WHEN THAT LIGHT IS ON. *TR
THE ONLY EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE IS COLD AND WET WEATHER. THE FAILURE IS THAT AFTER MY VAN HAS SET FOR MAYBE A DAY OR TWO, AND I GET INTO IT TO DRIVE, THE REAR WHEELS ARE LOCKED UP/FROZEN SOLID. THIS HAS OCCURRED TWICE: IN JAN OF 07 WITH 20,000 MILES AND DEC. 09 WITH 63,000. THE FIRST TIME THE WHEELS FROZE UP THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A GAP ALLOWING WATER TO GET INTO THE BRAKES AND FREEZING THEM UP. LUCKILY THE WARRANTY PAID FOR THIS REPAIR BUT THE GAP WAS NOT COVERED. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP WANTS US TO COVER ALL COSTS. THEY SAID THAT MOISTURE GOT INTO THE BRAKE SYSTEM THROUGH THE SAME GAP AND RUSTED THE BRAKES OUT AGAIN TO CAUSE IT TO FREEZE UP THIS TIME. THIS IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS BEFORE, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS INFORMED ME OF THIS. BUT THEY REFUSE TO HELP BECAUSE IT IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
STARTING WHEN MY 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY VAN HAD 29,0245 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW BEGAN TO BEHAVE ERRATICALLY. SOME DAYS THE WINDOW WOULD GO UP AND DOWN WHEN THE DRIVER'S CONSOLE SWITCH WAS PUSHED OTHER TIMES IT WOULD RESPOND TO THE SWITCH ON THE DOOR. OTHER DAYS IT DID NOTHING WHEN THE SWITCH WAS PUSHED. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 6,000 MILES, BUT WHILE MILEAGE WAS STILL LESS THAN 36,000, THE WINDOW REFUSED TO WORK AT ALL NO MATTER WHAT SWITCH WAS USED. I HAVE ASKED VARIOUS DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS IF THEY HAVE SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED SIMILAR SITUATIONS. THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS NO. I ASK IF THERE IS A RECALL OUT ON THIS PROBLEM. THEY SAY NO. SINCE THIS IS SIMILAR TO MY PROBLEM WITH MY 1997 DODGE CARAVAN WHERE THE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH REFUSED TO TURN ON THE WIPERS, EVEN AFTER ANOTHER, CERTIFIED CORRECTLY OPERATING STALK SWITCH WAS INSTALLED AND ALL WIRING CHECKED. THE WIPERS STILL WORKED MECHANICALLY WHEN THE "WASH" POSITION WAS PUSHED. FINALLY I HAD TO HAVE A NEW "BODY CONTROL MODULE" COMPUTER INSTALLED AND ALL THIS TOOK THREE TRIPS TO THE DEALER AND COST $741.19, I DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE MY VAN TO BE "EXPERIMENTED UPON" (WITH ME PAYING THE BILL). I BELIEVE ALL THIS IS THE RESULT OF THE INSTALLATION OF A DEFECTIVE COMPUTER MODULE (WHICH THEY CALL "BODY CONTROL MODULE") DURING THE MANUFACTURE OF THE VEHICLE. I ALSO THINK I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED AS THE VEHICLE WAS BASICALLY "PROGRAMMED TO FAIL" DUE TO THE USE OF DEFECTIVE PARTS. I WAS TOLD THAT THESE VANS ARE KNOWN FOR THIS. I HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS, ROTORS RESURFACED AND THE REAR BRAKES CLEANED AND ADJUSTED. IT COST US $260.00. NO EXPLANATION WHY AT 22140 MILES! WE ARE NOW AT 33421 MILES AND ONCE AGAIN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM NOT EVEN A YEAR LATER. THIS TIME THE PADS WERE GONE IT WAS METAL ON METAL AND WE WERE TOLD THE BRAKE LINE HAD COLLAPSED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS NOW GOING TO COST $360.00. I'M AFRAID TO ASK WHAT'S NEXT. THIS IS A DEATH TRAP. THE ONLY WARNING I HAD WAS A LITTLE BIT OF SHAKING WHEN BRAKING AT HIGH SPEEDS. NO OTHER WARNING! I THINK I'LL STICK TO THE FOREIGN CARS WE'VE BOUGHT IN THE PAST. THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDER DOOR GETS REQUESTED TO OPEN FROM THE OVERHEAD CONSOLE SWITCH BY THE DRIVER TO LET OUT MY 6 YEAR OLD SON FOR SCHOOL WHO HAS HIS BOOK BAG WITH HIM. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THIS PROCEDURE RESULTS IN THAT DOOR RETURN BACK FORWARD TOWARD MY SON PRIOR TO COMPLETELY OPENING; IT REACHES ABOUT 75% OF FULL OPEN. BECAUSE OF COST, TIMING AND HOPES THAT THE DOOR WOULD NOT CRUSH HIM IF HE COULD NOT HOP OUT QUICK ENOUGH, NO REPAIR HAS BEEN MADE YET. HOWEVER JUST LAST NIGHT WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN THROUGH AN INTERSECTION THAT SAME DOOR OPENED SLIGHTLY WITHOUT WARNING BUT IMMEDIATELY CLOSED MAKING THE COMMON LOUD ACTUATOR NOISE. AFTERWARD TO TEST THE SYSTEM WE TRIED TO DRIVE WITH THE DOOR OPEN AND AN ALARM SOUNDS AND THE CLUSTER HAS THE DOOR AJAR MESSAGE SO I AM FAIRLY CONFIDENT THAT THE DOOR WAS INITIALLY CLOSED DURING OUR TRIP WHERE THE SLIDE DOOR OPENED. I WILL TRY TO ADJUST THE DOOR HEIGHT SOON BECAUSE I KNOW IT IS A LITTLE LOW DUE TO AN OPERABLE NOISE FROM THE TOP TRACK.
