2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY LIMITED EDITION. AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 10-72 MPH VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF. THERE ARE NO INDICATIONS PRESENT WHEN THIS HAPPENS, LIGHTS DO NOT FLASH, NO CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS, NO WARNING ETC. VEHICLE SHUTS OFF INTERMITTENTLY ONLY WHILE IN MOTION. VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF 9 TIMES OVER A PERIOD OF 11 MONTHS. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN EXPOSED TO ANY EXTREME WEATHER CONDITION, WATER, SALTS, OR OTHER ITEMS THAT MIGHT IMPACT THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAS NEVER RUN TO OF GAS. VEHICLE ALWAYS HAS OIL CHANGES DONE BEFORE REQUIRED TIMES. VEHICLE IS DRIVEN VERY LIGHTLY. CONDITION- VEHICLE WAS DRIVING AT 32 MPH ON A CITY ROAD IN KILLEEN TEXAS, TAKING A SLIGHT TURN IN A ROAD. ANGLE OF ROAD WAS LESS THAN A 120 DEGREE TURN. VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES BEHIND THE VAN. BRAKES LOCKED UP, STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP, AND GAUGES CONTINUE TO WORK UNTIL VEHICLE STOPS. VEHICLE DID NOT RESTART FOR 3 MINUTES AND 7 SECONDS. CONDITION- VEHICLE WAS DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY 90 IN KILLEEN TEXAS NEAR THE TJ MILLS EXIT. SPEED WAS 72 MPH, VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND SHUT OFF. STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES LOCK. VEHICLE NEARLY CAUSED A MULTI CAR COLLISION, BUT DUE TO OTHER DRIVERS BEING AWARE NO ACCIDENT HAPPENED. CONDITION- FORT HOOD TEXAS, VEHICLE IS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, NEAR A STOP LIGHT APPROACHING AT A SPEED OF 13 MPH. VEHICLE SHUTS OFF, STEERING LOCKS, BRAKES LOCK, AND VEHICLE WILL NOT GO OUT OF DRIVE. VEHICLE IS NEARLY HIT BY TRAFFIC FROM BEHIND. MILITARY POLICE ARRIVE ON SCENE AND ASSIST DRIVER WITH MOVING VEHICLE TO A SAFE LOCATION. VEHICLE DID START AFTER 22 MINUTES AND 7 SECONDS. VEHICLE WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT, THERE WERE NO HILLS PRESENT. AFTER RESEARCHING MULTIPLE SITES, THREADS, FORUMS, AND BUSINESS, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION FOR SAFETY OF LIFE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. FURY MOTORS IN SOUTH SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA 55075 WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000.
FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS WE HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH A MYSTERIOUS ELECTRICAL ISSUE. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF THE SAME ISSUE. THE VAN WILL BE FINE AND YOU GET IN TO START IT AND WHEN TURNING THE KEY IT WILL NOT START. FULL CHARGE, FULL BATTERY. STARTER IS FINE - EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT FINE. WITH A JUMP IT WILL USUALLY START. SOMETIMES IT WILL START ON IT'S OWN IF YOU WAIT A LITTLE WHILE. PEOPLE ON BOARDS HAVE STATED REPLACING DOZENS OF THINGS - TO THEN HAVE THE SAME ISSUE A COUPLE DAYS LATER. WE ARE USE TO HAVING TO JUMP OUR VEHICLE ABOUT 1 OUT OF 20 TIMES. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO MULTIPLE MECHANICS AND HAD MULTIPLE THINGS CHECKED AND REPLACED. THIS CAN HAPPEN WHILE STATIONARY OR DRIVING.
VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. HOW CAN THIS PROBLEM, ADDRESSED LITERALLY HUNDREDS AND THOUSANDS OF TIMES ON MULTIPLE SITES, BE JUDGED BY YOUR DEPARTMENT AS NOT A "SAFETY ISSUE"? I, ALONG WITH MY WIFE, HAVE BEEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH MY FAMILY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE VAN COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING DOWN MY DRIVEWAY AT LOW SPEEDS AND THE VAN COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN. THE VAN BEHAVES AS IF POSSESSED. THE HORN BLARES, FRONT AND REAR WIPERS COME ON BY THEMSELVES, FLASHERS COME ON BY THEMSELVES, DOORS LOCK BY THEMSELVES, WASHER FLUID SPRAYS ON ITS OWN AT A HIGH VOLUME. I HAVE DECIDED, SINCE NHTSA, CHRYSLER, AND MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP CAN'T/WON'T HELP, THAT I WILL CALL AN EXORCIST. I BELIEVE THE EXORCIST WILL BE ABOUT AS MUCH HELP AS THE THREE OF YOU COMBINED. I ASSUME IF MY BEAUTIFUL WIFE AND DAUGHTER ARE KILLED AS A RESULT OF THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF AT RANDOM SPEEDS ONE OF YOU THREE WILL PAY THE FUNERAL EXPENSE? OR AT LEAST SEND SOME FLOWERS TO THE VISITATION? HOW NICE OF YOU. OR SHOULD I JUST CONTACT THE EXORCIST AGAIN AND SEE IF SHE HAS A FRIEND THAT COULD HOLD A SEANCE SO I CAN TELL THEM HOW MUCH I LOVED THEM AND THAT THEIR SAFETY WAS JUST NOT A PRIORITY FOR YOU? SERIOUSLY. IT IS TIME TO DO SOMETHING. I DO NOT HAVE THE KIND OF MONEY THE DEALERSHIP IS ASKING ME TO PAY FOR A WIDELY KNOWN AND ACCEPTED DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF THEIR VEHICLE. THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) IS FAULTY. EVERYONE KNOWS IT. THE COMPANY ACKNOWLEDGES IT. THOUSANDS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. WHEN IS SOMEONE GOING TO STEP UP? HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE IT BECOMES A "SAFETY ISSUE" TO YOU? SO FOR NOW I HAVE A VERY EXPENSIVE LAWN ORNAMENT AND MY FAMILY HAS TO BUM RIDES. UNBELIEVABLE.
HORN SUDDENLY STARTS BLARING, WIPERS START WIPING, DOOR LOCKS LOCK, IF ENGINE IS RUNNING IT MIGHT STOP, WHEN THIS FIRST HAPPENED THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF AND SITTING IN DRIVE.
WHEN DRIVING FOR A SHORT TRIP OR LONGER, WHEN SHOPPING OR NOT IN USE, THE CAR WILL NOT START ON 1ST, 2ND OR 5TH TRY. REPLACED BATTERY, STARTER 4 MONTHS AGO. THIS OCCURS WITH NO WARNING AND NO SPECIAL TIME, IT CAN HAPPEN NOW, A WEEK FROM NOW AND MONTHS-FROM NOW. I BELIEVE IT'S THE IGNITION SWITCH. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN 2017 AND THIS HAS BEEN HAPPING SINCE. IF YOU CAN GIVE ME SOME GUIDANCE ON THIS AND HELP ME FIX IT OR SELL IT. HOPEFULLY THERE IS A CALL ON THIS.
WHILE DRIVING ENGINE SHUT OFF,
I CAN NOT SHUT HEAD LIGHTS OFF WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND ALSO HEADLIGHT FLICKER WHILE DRIVING AND SHUT OFF 2 TIMES IN PAST MONTH WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY LIGHTS COMPLETLY SHUT OFF NO REAR OR FRONT LIGHTS PULLED OVER AND CHECKED ALL FUSES WHILE DOING THIS LIGHTS JUST CAME ON GOT HOME COULDNT SHUT THEM OFF HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY 3 WEEKS OF DOING THIS LIGHTS FINALLY SHUIT OFF ON THERE OWN AND YESTERDAT PROBLEM STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN SOMEBODY TOLD ME UNPLUG THE HEADLIGHT SWITHCH WICH I DID AND THE LIGHTS ARE STILL ON
WHILE I'M DRIVING MY VEHICLE HOME FROM WORK IT WILL STALL, TAKING THE ABILITY TO STEER AWAY. LIKE IT JUST SHUTS OFF RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. IT USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN I AM TURNING OR GOING AROUND A CURVE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (FEENY CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE OF GAYLORD, 1001 MANKOWSKI ROAD, GAYLORD, MI 49735), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURES OCCURRED AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PREFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (MCDONALD CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM -BIG RAPIDS, 14061 NORTHLAND DRIVE, BIG RAPIDS, MI 49307), BUT WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED DUE TO NO FAILURE CODES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 149,000.
WHILE IN MOTION, VEHICLE HAS TURNED ON WIPERS, HONKED HORN, DASH LIGHT TUN OFF. INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS UP AND DINGS. WHILE STOPPED AND STOPLIGHT VAN HAS STALLED,WITH NO POWER FOR A FEW MINUTES. AT ONE POINT,THE VAN HAS RESTARTED ITSELF AFTER TURNING OFF AND EXITING. I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC, THAT THE TIPM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HAD TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE WITH FUEL APPROXIMATELY EVERY TEN MINUTES AS THE FUEL GAUGE CONTINUED TO DISPLAY EMPTY. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT AUTO SHOP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FAILURE IN INJECTOR NUMBER FOUR THAT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND REPAIRED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AFTER THE REPAIRS, BUT THE FAILURES PERSISTED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AS HAVING A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER FOUR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SUGGESTED THAT THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTONATION CHRYSLER (21027 I 45, SPRING, TX 77388, PHONE NUMBER: (281) 715-6927), BUT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE SERVICED DUE TO A RESTRICTION FROM CHRYSLER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH MY 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN. I RECENTLY HAD THE DEALERSHIP WORK ON SOME RECALLS FOR THIS MODEL. AT THAT TIME, IT WASN'T SHOWING ANY PROBLEMS. ONLY AFTER THE RECALLS WERE ADDRESSED DID THE TROUBLE BEGIN. NOW, IT SPORADICALLY WILL NOT RECOGNIZE EITHER KEY FOB. WAIT A WHILE AND TRY TO CRANK IT AND IT STARTS BACK UP. TODAY, 100 MILES FROM HOME WITH 4 SMALL CHILDREN AS PASSENGERS, IT DECIDED TO HAVE A FIT AT THE GAS PUMP AND NOT START. CALLED ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND WAITED FOR THEM TO ARRIVE JUST IN TIME FOR VAN TO DECIDE IT WANTED TO CRANK AGAIN. CRANKED IT UP AND TRIED TO PARK IT AT A FRIENDS HOUSE CLOSE BY. DETECTED WHAT SEEMED LIKE SURGES WITH THE FUEL PUMP WHILE TRYING TO GET THERE. FINALLY GOT TO A STOPPING POINT AND TURNED THE KEY OFF AND THE VAN KEPT RUNNING. THE WIPERS WENT CRAZY AND THE HORN STARTED BLOWING ALL BY ITSELF. IS THIS VEHICLE POSSESSED BY THE DEVIL OR WHAT? IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND I HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO TOW IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. I DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM BUT I SAY THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE! IF THERE ISNT A RECALL ALREADY ISSUED, THERE CERTAINLY NEEDS TO BE ONE.
MY TRACTION SENSOR IS NOT WORKING WHICH IS CAUSING MY A SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN I START DRIVING (IN MOTION), THE ABS TRACTION STARTS EVEN WHEN THERE IS NO WATER, ICE OR POOR DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ABS MODULE AND ITS STILL DOING IT. THEY NOW SAY THEY WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE SENSOR IN THE STEERING COLUMN (WHEEL). THIS IS VERY SCARY AS IT STOPS MY ACCELERATION AND IT AFFECTS THE ANTI-LOCK BREAKS. I WAS HOPING THIS WAS ALL DUE TO AN MINOR AUTO COLLISION BUT THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOLD ME THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BECAUSE OF IT. THEY SAID ITS A COINCIDENCE AND THAT IT JUST HAPPENED ON ITS OWN AT THE SAME TIME. I WOULD SAY THE FAULT IS UNKNOWN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIPM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED, BUT THE PARTS WERE ORDERED. AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN THE CRASH. VAN HAS BEEN TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE. MUCH FRONT END DAMAGE; VAN FLIPPED END FOR END BRAKING WINDSHIELD & BOTH FRONT DRIVERS & PASSENGERS WINDOWS. SEAT BELTS SAVED THEIR LIVES, WITH INJURIES TO BODY & HEADS. VAN SPEED MAYBE 40 M.P.H. ON HIGHWAY & UPHILL ON A CURVE. SINGLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT, DRIVER BLINDED BY ON COMING HEADLIGHTS FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE. WE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL, BUT LOOKS LIKE MODULAR/AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT MAY CORRODE & FAIL, RECALL S07 FOR SOME 2008 VANS ONLY. NHTSA REFERENCE #16V047000 & NUMBER AFFECTED 111,519 VANS. MY VIN# SHOWS NO RECALLS OPEN FOR IT & SHOWS ALL OTHERS HAVE BEEN DONE. THIS RECALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON MY VAN TOO. NOT ONE AIRBAG WENT OFF & WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THE VAN IS TOTALED, MOST DAMAGE TO FRONT, EVEN BUMPER IS BENT RIGHT UNDER, WHAT MORE DAMAGE DOES IT TAKE FOR THE AIRBAGS TO GO OFF. EVERY TIME THE I REMOVE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE, IT DOES NOT EITHER TURN OFF AND KEEPS RUNNING OR THE KEY CAN NOT BE REMOVED AFTER PLACING IT IN PARK. I HAVE 2 SETS OF KEY FOBS, AND IT HAPPENS TO BOTH OF THEM. IT HAS GOTTEN TO THE POINT WHERE I WILL NOT DRIVE IT WITH MY FAMILY OF 6. I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING LETTERS FROM CHRYSLER STATING THAT THEY HAVE NO TIME TABLE FOR A REPLACEMENT OF THE IGNITION SWITCH. IT HAS BEEN OVER 2 YEARS OF LETTERS WITH NO ANSWER IN SIGHT. STARTING TO GET TO THE POINT OF HIRING AN ATTORNEY IF NOTHING IS GETTING RESOLVED SOON.
FRONT BLOWER FAN CUTS ON AND OFF. HAD BLOWER FAN, HEAD CONTROL UNIT, AND BLOWER FAN RESISTOR CHANGED YET STILL DOESN'T WORK. FRONT BLOWER FAN SHOULD BE WIRED LIKE REAR BLOWER FAN AND NOT GO THROUGH TIPM
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE HORN STARTED BLOWING AND THE WIND SHIELD WIPERS WENT FULL SPEED AND THE MOTOR TURNED OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE TIPM WAS BAD AND THEY HAVE A TON OF THESE VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM! IT IS A VERY EXPENSIVE FIX AND SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM DUE TO IT BEING A SAFETY PROBLEM! THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN AND YOU LOOSE ALL POWER! I HAVE SEEN ONLINE OTHER ISSUES WHERE THE AIR BAGS ACTUALLY DEPLOYED. I AM SO SCARED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF IT WILL MALFUNCTION AGAIN!! IT HAS HAPPEN AT LEAST 3 TIMES ALREADY.
HEADLIGHTS TURN ON MOMENTARILY AND THEN TURN OFF. . THEY FLICKER. VEHICLE CAN BE STATIONARY.OR WHILE DRIVING. IF DRIVING CANNOT ALWAYS BE SURE THE HEADLIGHT HAVE COME OR JUST THE FOG LIGHTS. FOG LIGHTS REMAIN ON HEADLIGHTS ARE QUESTIONABLE AFTER TURNING THEM ON FROM HEAD LAMP SWITCH.
THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES AT LESS THAN 15 MPH ON MY PRIVATE ROAD AND 1 TIME AT ~30 MPH ON A PUBLIC ROAD THROUGH TOWN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER EACH FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SOUTHFIELD CHRYSLER (28100 TELEGRAPH RD, SOUTHFIELD, MI 48034, (248)331-9937, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER. THE KEYFOB WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
MY AIRBAG WARNING KEEPS COMING ON AN YOU CAN SMELL ANTI FREEZE. AND I HAVE HAD THE AIR SHUT DOWN AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN IT STARTS BACK UP BUT IT IS SCARY. THANK GOD IT HAS NOT HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY.

Out of the blue, my passenger rear sliding door on my 2008 minivan stopped responding to my key fob and the overhead button to open or close. There have been times it's been stuck in the locked position making my children either going out the other door and even climbing over to the front seat to get out. It is available for inspection upon request and as I have never taken it in to get looked at, the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed. It has not been inspected by anyone. Prior to this failing, there were no warning lamps or messages given off by the vehicle.
TRANSMISSION ABRUPTLY, SEEMS AS IF IT CANNOT FIND THE CORRECT POSITION TO SHIFT TO CAUSING AN EXTREME VIBRATION. AT TIMES IT FEELS AS IF THE VEHICLE IS GOING TO COME TO A STOP. THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS SHOULD THE TRANSMISSION STOP WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS PROBLEM ALSO SEEMS TO DISTRACT, OR SCARE THE DRIVER SINCE AT TIMES THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A LOUD BANG.
THE VEHICLE HAS AN ONGOING INABILITY TO START WITHOUT ANY ISSUES BEING FOUND. THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED, THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED, THE RADIATOR WAS REPAIRED WITH THE THOUGHT THAT WAS AN ISSUE. THE DOORS OPEN ON THEIR OWN, NOT JUST UNLOCK BUT OPEN. THE STABILITY CONTROL IS ALWAYS GOING ON EVEN AFTER BEING REPAIRED AND REPAIRING ANY POSSIBLE CAUSES. THE INCIDENTS OCCUR IN BOTH STATIONARY AND IN MOTION THE CAUSES ARE STILL UNKNOWN.
I STARTED MY VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT AND THE WIPERS, SEAT BELT ALARM AND LIGHTS CAME ON AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF AND THE WINDOWS WOULD NOT OPERATE. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND STARTED IT AGAIN. I BEGAN DRIVING AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND THIS TIME IT STOPPED. I CONTINUED ON TO MY DESTINATION AND THEN WENT HOME. THE NEXT DAY, I WAS RUNNING AN ERRAND ON MY LUNCH BREAK AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I RETURNED TO WORK AND WHEN I LEFT FOR THE DAY, I HAD ANOTHER ERRAND TO RUN AND HALF WAY TO MY DESTINATION, IT HAPPENED AGAIN! I HAD TO DRIVE 20 MILES HOME WITH THE WIPERS AND ALARMS GOING AND THE WINDOWS DOWN BECAUSE THE POWER WAS NOT FUNCTIONING.
MY CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY HAD PERFORMED THE RECALL ON THE IGNITION SWITCH HOWEVER MY VAN STILL SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. AT FIRST IT STARTED UPON MORNING WHEN FIRST STARTING OUT THE DAY, BUT NOW IT SHUTS OFF EVEN AFTER 45 MINUTES OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE CAUSING ME TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING AND HAVING TO BE CAUTIOUS SO THAT I WONT BE REAR ENDED OR WORSE. I HAVE TAKING IT IN TO BE DIAGNOSED BUT THE TECHNICIANS AFTER HAVING THE VAN HOOKED UP TO THEIR DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE ARE STILL UNABLE TO SEE ANYTHING WRONG. NO ERROR CODES ARE SHOWING. ALSO NOW, WHILE PARKED AND THE ENGINE OFF WITH NO KEYS... MY DOORS WILL JUST OPEN BY THEMSELVES OR AUTOMATICALLY LOCK. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIPM: STARTER FUSE RELAY IS MALFUNCTIONING CAUSING THE STARTER TO INTERMEDIATELY NOT WORK. PROBLEMS WHEN IT MALFUNCTIONS: THE STARTER CRANKS BUT WON'T START. OTHER TIMES THE STARTER WILL START TO CRANK AND THE TIPM SENDS A MESSAGE TO THE STARTER CAUSING IT TO SHORT CIRCUIT. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON OFF AND ON SINCE 5/15/2017.

WHEN YOU SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF THE KEYS CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU HAVE TO START THE VEHICLE UP, PUT IT INTO DRIVE AND THEN PUT IT INTO PARK AGAIN AND SHUT IF OFF. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO DO THAT A COUPLE OF TIMES TO BE ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEYS FROM THE IGNITION
CAR GETS TOTALLY POSSESSED. IT CUTS OFF IN THE OF DRIVING ONE TIME ON THE HIGHWAY. THE LIGHTS WIPERS AND HORN GOES ON BY ITSELF AND DOESNT STOP UNTIL THE BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED. I CAME OUT THE STORE AND MY WIPERS AND HORN WAS GOING OFF THE KEYS WERE IN MY HAND. WHILE PUMPING GAS THE RADIO STARTED PLAYING AND WIPERS GOING OFF. LATER ON, I DETERMINED THAT WHEN THE WIRES TOUCHED AGAINST SOMETHING IN THE DOOR, IT WOULD CAUSE THIS REACTION.

SEAT BELT LIGHT FLASHES AND DINGS EVEN WHEN SEATBELTS ARE LOCKED WHILE DRIVING. ABS LIGHTS COME ON PERIODICALLY WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE GEAR SHIFT LOCKS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN PARK RUNNING CAUSING VEHICLE TO HAVE TO BE SHUT OFF BEFORE IT WILL RELEASE. CRUISE CONTROL MALFUNCTIONS WHILE DRIVING. DONE RESEARCH TO OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE STYLE AND OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED OF SIMILAR FINDINGS, HOWEVER SEEMS NOONE HAS CONTACTED YOU YET. PASSENGER SIDE HEADLAMP FAILURE. TAKEN TO DEALER TWICE AND REPLACED BY OWNER TWICE. LAMP WORKS FOR 1-2 WEEKS REQUIRING NEW BULB INSTALLATION. REPLACED BULB 5TH TIME ON 2-18-2017 AND DOES NOT WORK ALL.

OIL CONSUMPTION BEYOND NORMAL. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE AND FOUND A WIDE PROBLEM FOR CHRYSLER/JEEP MODEL YEARS UP THROUGH 2011 WITH THE 3.8 LITER ENGINE. THERE IS A DEFECT WITH THE VALVE GUIDES AND SEALS THAT ALLOWS OIL TO BE BURNED AT A FAR GREATER RATE THAN WHAT THE INDUSTRY STANDARD WOULD SAY IS NORMAL OIL CONSUMPTION. WITH THIS ISSUE IT USES MORE THAN A QUART PER 1,000 MILES. DEALER HAS SAID THIS IS NORMAL OIL CONSUMPTION. SINCE THE GUIDES ARE DEFECTIVE ALONG WITH THE SEALS THIS IS CAUSING DRY START EVEN WITH LOW MILES! I AM METICULOUS WITH MAINTENANCE ON MY VEHICLES, DAILY DRIVEN MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES APPROX. 30 MILES DAILY. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED IN THE MORNINGS YOU CAN HEAR THE DRY START TO THE VALVE TRAIN. IT GOES AWAY AS SOON AS THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AND OIL IS CIRCULATING. HOWEVER YOU CAN HEAR THE VALVE TRAIN IS NOISIER THAN USUAL. I HAVE BEEN SERVICING VEHICLES FOR OVER 35 YEARS NOW BOTH PROFESSIONALLY AND AS A HOBBYIST. THIS IS CLEARLY A DESIGN FLAW TO THIS PARTICULAR ENGINE. I PERSONALLY KNOW SOMEONE WHO RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE THEIR ENTIRE ENGINE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. EVEN THE SIMPLEST OF INTERNET SEARCHES TURNS THIS ISSUE UP. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUE. WE WOULD LIKE THE DEALER TO ADDRESS THIS.

MINE WENT OUT AND WHEN THE MECHANIC TRIED TO GET ONE FROM THE LOCAL DEALER HE WAS TOLD THAT IT IS BACKORDERED ALONG WITH SEVERAL HUNDRED BACKORDERED. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS IT AFFECTS MANY ITEMS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
MY VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING MAKING IT VERY DANGEROUS. THE IGNITION SWITCH CLICKS AND THE VAN SHUTS DOWN AT THE SAME TIME CONSEQUENCE: IF THE IGNITION KEY INADVERTENTLY MOVES INTO THE OFF OR ACCESSORY POSITION, THE ENGINE WILL TURN OFF, WHICH WILL THEN DEPOWER VARIOUS KEY SAFETY SYSTEMS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO AIR BAGS, POWER STEERING, AND POWER BRAKING. LOSS OF FUNCTIONALITY OF THESE SYSTEMS MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF CRASH AND/OR INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THIS IS WHAT I FOUND OUT TO BE THE ISSUE IN MOST CASES. L25 DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS CAN NOT WAIT MONTHS FOR PARTS. THIS MUST BE DONE ASAP. CAR WAS MOVING ON HIGHWAY AND ON CITY STREET. HAS OCCURED AT 15 MPH AND 40MPH. HAS OCCURED MANY TIMES.
