HEAD LIGHTS STARTED FLICKERING THEN WENT DARK. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS OFF FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES, BOTH HEAD LIGHTS STARTED WORKING AGAIN. HOWEVER, BOTH HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED AND AGAIN STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS AGAIN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. MANY REPORTS ON FCA FAULTY TIPM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER SAFFORD FORD LINCOLN OF SALISBURY (1902 N SALISBURY BLVD, SALISBURY, MD 21801 (443) 210-4835) WHO STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS CONCERNING THE HEADLIGHTS. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING THE VAN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON, INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS BEGAN TO FLASH, DOORS LOCKED AND UNLOCKED AND THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THE ALARM SYSTEM WENT OFF AND COULD NOT BE TURNED OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN DRIVING AND ALL THE POWER IS LOST TO THE POWER STEERING, ENGINE AND LIGHTS. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS IT CAN HAPPEN ON THE FREEWAY AS WELL AS ON A CITY STREET. WE HAVE BEEN STRANDED SO MANY TIMES AND HAVE FEARS TO DRIVE THIS VAN ANYWHERE! WE WERE STRANDED IN SEATTLE ON A CITY STREET AND HAD TO WAIT TWO HOURS FOR A TOW TRUCK TO TOW IT TO THE NEAREST DEALER THERE. WHEN IT ARRIVED AT THE DEALER IT WAS LATE AFTERNOON AND THE MECHANIC AGREED THAT THE SYSTEMS WERE NOT 'COMMUNICATING' WITH EACH OTHER BUT HE WOULD CHECK IT OUT IN THE MORNING...BY THE MORNING, THE VAN WAS NOT DOING IT'S CRAZINESS AND THE MECHANIC SAID HE COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT! WE HAVE HAD THE LOCAL DEALER CHECK IT OUT AND THEY CANNOT SEEM TO FIND THE PROBLEM, BUT OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A PROBLEM. WHY CAN'T CHRYSLER FIGURE THIS OUT? IT IS DANGEROUS AND SCARY AND OUR BELOVED VAN IS NO LONGER RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION FOR OUR FAMILY. NHTSA....THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM...IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND, YES, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE, BIG TIME! WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GET CHRYSLER TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THESE VANS. IT IS AS IF THEY ARE 'POSSESSED BY THE DEVIL' HELP US PLEASE! WHAT ELSE CAN WE DO?
I CAN NOT SHUT HEAD LIGHTS OFF WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND ALSO HEADLIGHT FLICKER WHILE DRIVING AND SHUT OFF 2 TIMES IN PAST MONTH WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY LIGHTS COMPLETLY SHUT OFF NO REAR OR FRONT LIGHTS PULLED OVER AND CHECKED ALL FUSES WHILE DOING THIS LIGHTS JUST CAME ON GOT HOME COULDNT SHUT THEM OFF HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY 3 WEEKS OF DOING THIS LIGHTS FINALLY SHUIT OFF ON THERE OWN AND YESTERDAT PROBLEM STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN SOMEBODY TOLD ME UNPLUG THE HEADLIGHT SWITHCH WICH I DID AND THE LIGHTS ARE STILL ON
THE HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS FLICKER AND THEN TURN OFF THEY WILL DO THIS WHILE PARKED OR DRIVING SCARY WHEN ITS DARK
THE GLASS ON THE VAN STEAMS UP TO EASILY DURING COOLER WEATHER WHEN NO HEAT IS TURNED ON OR VENT. THE BODY OF THE VAN COLLECTS WATER IN THE DOORS HOUSING THE GLASS IN THE SLIDING DOORS ON BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER'S SIDE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE TO BODY AND A RECENT VISIT TO A BREAK SHOP EVEN REPLACEMENT BREAKS THE VAN STILL MAKES SQUEAKS AT TIMES. A RECENT BUMPER ACCIDENT I SHARED WITH A BODY DETAILER SAID THE BACK BUMPER SEEMS OFF AND NEEDS REPAIR, I HAVE DONE NO REPAIRS ON THE BODY AND THE VAN IS IN THE ORIGINAL CONDITION FROM OWNERS THAT TRANSFERRED IT TO ME. I ALSO FEEL THE LIGHTING FOR AFTER LEAVING THE VAN TRUNK LIGHT STAYS ON ANYTIME A DOOR IS NOT OPEN AND HAVE NOTICED THE LIGHTS IN THE FRONT OF THE VAN TAKE A WHILE TO GO OFF AFTER LOCKING AND TURNING OFF VEICHLE *JS
AT FIRST, PASSENGER HID LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WAS NOT WORKING. SWAPPED OUT LIGHT AND MODULE, STILL DIDN'T WORK. SWITCHED WITH WORKING DRIVER HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY, DID NOT WORK. TOOK INTO DEALER AND RECEIVED A QUOTE OF OVER $1100 TO REPLACE TIPM. THOUGHT IT WAS A RIDICULOUS COST TO FIX A HEADLIGHT. REMOVED CONNECTOR AND PUT BACK ON THE TIPM AND HEADLIGHTS WORKED FINE FOR SEVERAL DAYS. DRIVING THE VEHICLE SHORTLY AFTER, BOTH HEADLIGHTS JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON AN UNLIGHT ROAD. QUICKLY TURN FOG LAMPS ON TO SEE THE ROAD. TRIED REMOVING AND REINSTALLING CONNECTOR SEVERAL TIMES WITH ALWAYS SAME RESULT, BOTH HEADLIGHTS WORK A COUPLE OF TIMES, THEN BOTH EITHER DON'T COME ON OR SHUT OFF AFTER ON. RUNNING LIGHTS SOMETIMES TURN OFF AS WELL. DRIVE THE VEHICLE ONLY IN DAY TIME NOW.
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE LEFT HEADLIGHT FLICKERED THEN BOTH HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. THEY STAYED OUT LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO ALERT MY DAUGHTER, WHO WAS RIDING IN THE BACKSEAT TO WITNESS THE BLINDNESS WE WERE DRIVING IN. SEEMED LIKE MINUTES, BUT AM SURE IT WAS PROBABLY ONLY 30 SECONDS OR SO (EITHER WAY A TRUE HAZARD WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT). AS THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME IN ABOUT A MONTH THIS HAPPENED WE HAD RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND LEARNED THAT IF YOU TURN THE SWITCH ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES THE LIGHTS WILL EVENTUALLY COME BACK ON. WHILE IT WORKED THIS IS BEYOND DISTRACTING AND QUITE THE FEAT OF DRIVING AS ONE TRIES TO STAY ON A ROAD THEY CAN NO LONGER SEE AND HOPE THEY DO NOT CRASH OR GET HIT BY OTHER CARS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS IN FACT THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (COMPLETE FAILURE WHEN THEY TESTED IT). PART ORDERED. PART WAS REPLACED AND SO FAR SO GOO (BEEN LESS THAN A WEEK). WE DID LEARN OF ISSUES WITH THIS PART ON PRIOR YEAR MODELS. THE FIX OF ADDING MORE LUBRICANT TO THE SWITCH IS TEMPORARY AND DOES NOT COMPLETELY FIX THE LIGHTS GOING OUT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ADDRESS IT. WHILE WE GOT A MINOR DISCOUNT ON THE SERVICE IT IS STILL A KNOWN DEFECT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 55 AND THE REAR 3RD LIGHT BRAKE ASSEMBLY BROKE OFF AND CRASHED ON THE ROAD. *TR

THE CONTACT THEN TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND ONCE WAS RESTARTED, THE HEADLIGHTS FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,800 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,900.

THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED IN OPERATION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THERE WERE TWO OCCASIONS WHEN THE LOW AND HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO FUNCTION UPON ACTIVATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 37,000.
WE WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH OUR HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT ON OUR 2008 TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE HEADLAMP SWITCH SO WE ORDERED ONE AND WENT BACK UP TO REPLACE IT AND THEY HAD THE WRONG SWITCH SO THEY HAD TO ORDER ANOTHER ON AND WE HAD TO RETURN TO PUT THE RIGHT HEADLAMP SWITCH IN. THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, SO WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE TIPM MODULE AND RETURNED THE VAN WE WENT ON A FAMILY VACATION JUST FOR THE DAY AND CAME HOME THAT EVENING WHEN WE FIGURED OUT THAT THEY DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. SO ONCE AGAIN WE RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY GAVE US A LOANER CAR IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT TO CALL IT AND THEY HAD IT FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND THEY REPLACED A CENSOR THAT CONTROLS THE HEADLIGHTS. I JUST GOT IT BACK AND NOT SURE IF THEY ARE FIXED OR NOT BUT THEY SAID THAT THEY ARE FIXED. IF IT TURNS OUT THAT THEY ARE NOT FIXED WE WILL NOT RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE HEADLIGHTS AGAIN WE WILL FIND ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO TAKE IT TO. I WAS NOT TREATED TO BEST AND I GOT NONE OF MY FUEL REPLACED FROM THE DEALERSHIP AFTER IT TOOK THEM THIS MANY TIMES TO FIX IT AND THEY DROVE IT AROUND WE GAVE THEM PERMISSION BUT OUT OF THE COURTESY OF THE DEALERSHIP THEY COULD OF REPLACED MY FUEL CONSIDERING THE LOANER CAR THEY GAVE ME THEY SAID THAT I HAD TO RETURN IT WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF GAS THAT I LEFT THE LOT WITH. NOW THAT DOESN'T SEEM FAIR TO ME DOES IT YOU. *TR
