TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MANEUVERED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED AT LEAST TWICE PER WEEK FOR THE PAST THREE WEEKS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
DURING DRIVING (TYPICALLY CITY SPEEDS OF ~30-45MPH), WITHOUT WARNING OR NOTIFICATION THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF AND YOU WILL LOSE ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKING IS SERIOUSLY DIMINISHED. IT HAS HAPPENED ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY AT ~65MPH THAT I AM AWARE OF). WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE ONLY INDICATION YOU GET IS THE RED TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD.IT CAN HAPPEN WHILE TURNING, DRIVING STRAIGHT, CURVES, ETC. IN ORDER TO GAIN ENGINE POWER AND THE ABILITY TO STEER, THE ONLY FIX ACTION IS TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND TURN THE KEY TO RESTART. IT WILL NOT JUST RESTART IN "DRIVE". WE HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP 4+ TIMES IN ORDER TO DIAGNOSE AND FIX...TO WHICH WE HAVE BEEN TOLD "THERE IS NOTHING SHOWING UP ON DIAGNOSES", "SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD BE X, BUT IT'S $1500 TO REPLACE AND WE CAN'T GUARANTEE IT WILL FIX IT". WE HAVE MADE SURE THAT IT IS NOT VISIBLY RELATED TO THE IGNITION ISSUE NOTED ON SOME OTHER SAME YEAR/MODEL VEHICLES...ALTHOUGH IT CANNOT BE 100% RULED OUT AS SOMEHOW RELATED. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ON CHRYSLER WEBFORUMS AND THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN NOTED BY MULTIPLE OTHER OWNERS (IE. HTTPS://WWW.CARGURUS.COM/CARS/DISCUSSION-T27257_DS557462 ) AND ONE OF THE MECHANICS MADE AN OFF THE CUFF REMARK ABOUT SEEING THIS ISSUE BEFORE AS WELL. WE HAVE RECENTLY MOVED CITIES AND I PLAN ON TAKING THIS TO A NEW DEALER IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIX THE ISSUE. BUT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, IF THIS WAS TO OCCUR WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC, OR AT A TIME WHEN THE CAR IN FRONT IS BRAKING, IT COULD BE DEADLY. I USED TO HAPPEN ABOUT ONCE A MONTH, BUT IT'S STARTING TO BECOME MORE FREQUENT (ALMOST WEEKLY, SOMETIMES, 2-3 TIMES/DAY). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS LOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE SERPENTINE AND TENSIONER BELTS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 84,000.
RANDOM , UNEXPECTED SHUT DOWN OF VEHICLE AND STALL, 3 TIMES NOW SINCE PURCHASING A YEAR AGO.ALL THREE TIMES FROM A STOPPED POSITION AND THEN ACCELERATION - STALL/SHUT DOWN.HAD THE WIN RECALL DONE EARLIER THIS YEAR. WITHOUT WARNING, USUALLY FROM A STOP POSITION AND INTO ACCELERATING, THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT DOWN. NO POWER STEERING, NO BRAKES MAJOR ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. MY WIFES VEHICLE TRANSPORING OUR CHILDREN AND THE CHILDREN SHE BABYSITS. I SEE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS IDENTIFYING THE SAME PROBLEM, LOCAL DEALERSHIPS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY AND CHRYSLER NOT INVESTIGATING ? THE "WELL, IT COULD BE THIS" SCENARIO IS COSTING A LOT OF MONEY THAT I DON'T HAVE FOR A PROBLEM THAT ISN'T GETTING FIXED. INSURANCE WILL NOT COVER A VEHICLE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT OCCURS, IF KNOWN TO BE DRIVING A VEHICLE KNOWN TO FAIL., WHAT THEN? I WANT MY WIFE AND CHILDREN SAFE.
CAR WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT IN THE GARAGE. WHEN I CAME OUT IN THE MORNING TO LEAVE MY HOME CAR WOULD NOT START. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE STARTER AND HAD IT REPLACED. STARTER ENGAGES BUT ENGINE DOES NOT START OR CRANK. I TRIED TWO KEY FOBS AND STILL NOTHING. EVERY MECHANIC BELIEVES THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE IMMOBILIZER BUT UNABLE TO CHECK AT DEALER BECAUSE I CANNOT START THE CAR. I BELIEVE THERE IS A MALFUNCTION IN THE IGNITION.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TAKATA RECALL: VEHICLE WAS DRIVING DOWN A PUBLIC ROAD WHEN THERE WAS A VERY LOUD EXPLODING SOUND.THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG THEN BLEW OUT INTO THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY FLAMES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ALUMINUM VALVE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR ILLUMINATED, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALUMINUM STEM VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE VALVES FAILED AND WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED NO SOLUTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

KEY FOB WILL NOT RELEASE FROM IGNITION. VEHICLE WILL START IN ANY GEAR, WITHOUT ANY BRAKE APPLIED
MY CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY 2010 IS SUDDENLY TURNING OFF WHILE DRIVING. NO ONE CAN FIND A CODE WHATS WRONG WITH IT. *TR
MY CAR STARTED SMOKING, AND SMOKED FOR A GOOD 45 MINUETS. MY TEMP DIDN'T GO HIGH BUT IT TURNED OUT TO BE A PLASTIC PIECE OF HOSE THAT CHRYSLER I GUESS THOUGHT WAS A SMART IDEA TO PUT PLASTIC ON A CAR PART. I FOUND OUT VIA MY CAR REPAIR SHOP THEY DO AT LEAST 2-3 REPLACEMENTS OF THOSE A WEEK...ANOTHER THING THAT CHRYSLER DOESN'T SEEM TO THINK IT SHOULD CORRECT.
MY CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY SHUTS OFF THE ENGINE WITH NO WARNING. IT HAS HAPPENED MOSTLY AT LOWER SPEEDS AND OFTEN WHILE TURNING A CORNER IN THE FIRST FIVE MINUTES OF OPERATION, BUT THIS WEEK IT HAPPENED ON INTERSTATE EXIT RAMP AFTER SEVERAL HOURS OF HIGHWAY DRIVING. TWO YEARS AGO I HAD THE WHOLE INTEGRATED POWER MODULE REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. CHECKED WITH CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND NO RECALL HAS EVER BEEN ISSUED. I ASKED IF OTHERS HAD REPORTED SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND THE LADY SAID SHE PERSONALLY HAD NEVER RECEIVED ANY REPORT WHICH MADE ME THINK THE COMPANY KNOWS ALL ABOUT IT. SO FAR THE VEHICLE HAS RESTARTED WITHOUT A PROBLEM, BUT WHEN IT FAILS AND YOU LOSE POWER STEERING IT IS A HAZARD TO GET TO SAFETY. MY WIFE IS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE SHE CANNOT STEER IT WITHOUT THE POWER ASSIST. DEALER OFFERED NO SUGGESTIONS BEYOND PAYING $150 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC SERVICE. NO WARNINGS SHOW ON THE DASH. DATE BELOW IS THE MOST RECENT EXAMPLE. THE CAR HAS 117,000 MILES NOW. *TR
WHEN OUR TOWN AND COUNTRY WAS DRIVEN AT NIGHT THE HEAD LIGHTS SHUT OFF. THEY WOULD TURN ON FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN WOULD TURN OFF AND STAY OFF. EVEN IF THE CAR IS RESTARTED OR THE LIGHTS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON, THEY STAYED OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2002 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. POLICE AND FIRE REPORTS WERE FILED. THERE WERE NO IMMEDIATE INJURIES; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WENT TO THE DOCTOR TWO DAYS LATER FOR NECK PAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. UPDATED 01/04/17*LJ ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT, THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT THE TOP OF THE DRIVEWAY WITH THREE CHILDREN INSIDE. ONE OF THE OCCUPANTS WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVER SEAT WHEN HE KNOCKED THE VEHICLE OUT OF GEAR AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN ROLLING DOWN A HILL, AT WHICH POINT TWO OF THE OCCUPANTS JUMPED PUT OF THE REAR HATCH OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE CROSSED OVER THE CURVE IN THE DRIVEWAY AND STRUCK A BOULDER BUT CONTINUED TO ROLL DOWN THE HILL UNTIL STRIKING A TREE AND BECOMING LODGED IN THE TREE. UPDATED 03/08/17.*JB
I SEE OTHER VEHICLES LIKE MINE HAVE SUFFERED ELECTRICAL FIRE ISSUES ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WITH THE COMPONENT THAT OPERATED THE WINDOWS, LOCKS AND MIRRORS. I WAS TOLD I WAS OUT OF LUCK AND NOTHING IS COVERED BY CHRYSLER. PAID OUT OF POCKET FOR A NEW COMPONENT AND THE WIRING AS WELL. WAS OVER 300.00 TO FIX, NO RESPONSIBILITY TAKEN BY CHRYSLER. THEY OFFERED ME 4 YEARS OF FREE OIL CHANGES IN EXCHANGE FOR ALMOST LOSING MY CAR TO A FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.. MY CASE# WAS 30259416 *DT*JB
MY TOWN AND COUNTRY'S HEADLIGHTS WERE INTERMITTENTLY GOING OUT, OF COURSE A DANGER. THEN THEY WOULD NOT TURN ON, WHICH DID NOT LET ME DRIVE AT NIGHT. THEY WOULD FLICKER 3 TIMES UPON STARTUP. AND NOW I'VE LOST ALL POWER TO THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. THIS SEEMS SIMILAR TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED TIPM ISSUES COMMON TO CHRYSLER/DODGE CARS. THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND BE FORCED TO FIX AND OR REIMBURSE OWNERS WITH THIS PROBLEM. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND A COSTLY PROBLEM DUE TO A FLAWED PRODUCT.

THE REPAIR SHOP CLEARED THE CODE AND IT WORKED, BUT THEN IT CAME ON AGAIN LAST WEEK AND NOW MY LIGHTS AREN'T WORKING AGAIN. *TR

I DRIVING TO TAKE THE KIDS TO SCHOOL AND THE KEY SLIPPED INTO ACCESSORY MODE AND YOU LOSE ALL POWER AND I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE BUT IF YOU LOOK THERE IS 2010 BUT NOT MINE I THINK IS VERY FISHY THEY SAID YOU CAN TAKE IT TO A DEALER BUT I HAVE TO PAY FOR AND IF THERE IS A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE THEN ILL GET REIMBURSED AND IT HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES LAST YEAR I GUESS THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT OUR LIVES
ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, LOSS OF STEERING, CONTROL AND BRAKES OCCURS. THIS IS WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET.
HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. FIRST DURING DAYLIGHT; THEN AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING HOME. DANGEROUS AND SCARY. NEXT DAYS, THE LIGHTS WOULD WORK AND THEN NOT WORK. TOOK VAN TO DEALERSHIP. DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY TIPM THAT WOULD COST $1275 TO REPLACE. WHAT IS SOOO GALLING IS READING ABOUT MANY, MANY, MANY, MANY OTHER CAR OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD ALSO BEEN TOLD TO REPLACE THE TIPM IN A VARIETY OF CHRYSLER VEHICLES. MANY OF THESE STORIES ARE HAIR RAISING IN THE DESCRIPTIONS OF DANGER--CARS SUDDENLY STOPPING ON THE HIGHWAY, LIGHT GOING OUT ON DARK NIGHTS, WIPERS GOING NUTS OR QUITTING; HORNS BLARING; TERRIFIED PARENTS AND CHILDREN. WHY NO RECALL???? IS CHRYSLER WAITING UNTIL PEOPLE ARE KILLED?? SAD, SAD COMMENTARY ON THIS AMERICAN PRODUCT. I FEEL VIOLATED AND UNPROTECTED AS A CONSUMER. IT IS TROUBLING TO BE TOLD WE NEED TO PAY $1275 FOR A PART THAT HAS BEEN COMPLAINED ABOUT TO CHRYSLER FOR YEARS AND FEEL RELIEVED THAT WE WEREN'T IN A TERRIBLE CAR CRASH. SOMETHING IS SO NOT RIGHT HERE.
HEADLIGHTS FAILED WHILE ON A DRIVE IN THE COUNTRY, AT NIGHT, ON A WINDY, MOUNTAINOUS ROAD. PROBLEM WAS TRACED TO A FAULTY TIPM AT FAIRLY LOW MILEAGE. VERY DANGEROUS! MY FAMILY WAS IN THE CAR, AND WE COULD'VE ALL BEEN KILLED.
DASH LIGHTS ON INSTRUMENT PANEL/CLUSTER ARE NOT WORKING. CAN NOT SEE HOW FAST I AM GOING UNLESS I HOLD A LIGHT TO THE PANEL. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. INSTRUCTED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL NEEDED REPLACED. PART AT THE DEALERSHIP IS $500 PLUS 3 HOURS OF LABOR. VEHICLE CAN BE IN MOTION AND STATIONARY AND I STILL HAVE NO DASH LIGHTS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TIRE REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND WAS TO RESPOND BACK TO THE CONTACT WITH THEIR RECOMMENDATION OR SOLUTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKING SYSTEM PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. UPDATED 08/28/2017*JS
VEHICLE RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. I WAS DRIVING DURING THE DAY,STRAIGHT, ON A CITY STREET. VEHICLE TURNED OF AND I LOST ALL BREAKS AND POWER STEERING. I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I HAVE 5 KIDS AND CAN'T BE USING A VEHICLE THAT MAY OR MAY NOT JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING
SEVERAL TIMES THE ENGINE HAS SUDDENLY TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AROUND 25-30 MPH, CAUSING IMMEDIATE LOSS OF ALL POWER, E.G. BRAKES, STEERING, ETC. AND CAUSING HIGH PROBABILITY FOR ACCIDENTS TO OCCUR. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS POTENTIAL TO RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY TO DRIVER, PASSENGERS, OTHER DRIVERS AND PEDESTRIANS. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE CHRYSLER RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ELECTRICAL ISSUE, RELATED TO OUR SPECIFIC MODEL YEAR (2010); HOWEVER, WE HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED BY THEM. WHEN INQUIRING IN THE PAST, WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT OUR PARTICULAR VIN IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. BUT THE ISSUE HAS NOW OCCURRED AT LEAST 5 TIMES, MOST RECENTLY ON AUG. 29, 2016.
TAKATA RECALL THE VAN WE HAVE KEY CONTROL IS MESSED UP IT WON'T OPERATE. THE BATTERY DIDN'T START UP WE TRIED MANY TIME WE EVEN TOOK IT TO BE REPAID ON MANY OCCASIONS BUT TO NO PREVAIL. THEY SAY IT'S NOT THE BATTERY BUT THE CAR IT'S SELF. THE ELECTRICAL CONTROLS ARE MESSING UP WHEN IT WORKS LIGHTS WILL TURN OFF AND ON WHEN WE DON'T EVEN TOUCH THEM. THE CAR ENGINES IS THE PROBLEM AND WE TRY VERY HARD TO DEAL WITH IT BUT NOW IT IS TURNING INTO A BURDEN AND HAZARD WHEN WE DRIVE. WE TRIED TALKING TO THE INDEPENDENT DEALERSHIP BUT THEY WON'T LISTEN AND KEEP HANGING UP
2010 TOWN AND COUNTRY CAN HAS BEEN STALLING WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING LOCKS AS WELL AS THE BREAKS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL MECHANICS AND UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM SOME OF THEM JUST IGNORE THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM. IT HAS SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR WITH MY KIDS IN THE VAN. THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN WILL CHRYSLER CORP OR ANYONE GOING TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED? THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM SINCE LAST YEAR WITH NO HELP!
ON TWO SEPARATE DATES THIS SUMMER WHILE TRAVELING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 50 & 60 MPH I HAD TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS BRAKE CAUSING THE TIRES TO GO FLAT. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE CAR TO A SAFE STOP BUT IN BOTH CASES I HAD TO PURCHASE NEW TIRES BECAUSE THE TIRES WHICH WERE RELATIVELY NEW COULD NO LONGER BE USED. I AM MOST CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY ISSUE AS I WAS TOLD BY THE TIRE DEALER THAT TPS FAILURE IS QUITE COMMON. NOT ONLY COULD THE TIRE GOING FLAT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BUT ON ONE OF THE FAILURES I WAS PUT IN A VERY DANGEROUS POSITION TO CHANGE THE TIRE.
ALL WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH BOARD LIGHT UP WHILE DRIVING. WIPERS COME ON(WON'T SHUT OFF), IF CRUISE CONTROL IS ON GEARS WON'T CHANGE. HAPPENS ON CITY STREET AND HIGHWAY. PURCHASED IN 2014 HAS BEEN CHECKED 3 TIMES. TEMPORARY FIX 2 TIMES. THIRD TIME I WAS TOLD THE BEST GUESS WOULD COST $1,000.00. EMPHASIZED THAT THIS IS A GUESS. WHEN I STOP THE VEHICLE AND TAKE THE KEY OUT AND PUT IT BACK IN AND RESTART THE CAR IT HELPS.
WE WERE DRIVING AT NIGHT ON 8/13/2016 AND THE HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THEY THEN BEGAN TO FLICKER. WE THOUGHT MAYBE IF WE SWITCHED ON THE HIGH BEAMS, THE LIGHTS WOULD WORK, BUT THEY DID NOT. TURNING THE VAN OFF AND ON AGAIN DID NOT WORK. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO SEPARATE TIMES, WITH THE SECOND TIME BEING MORE SEVERE BECAUSE THE LIGHTS WOULD NOT EVEN FLICKER. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, WE WERE IN MOTION ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET, ABOUT TO TURN INTO OUR DRIVEWAY. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED ON 8/17/2016, I WAS DRIVING ON CURVY FARM TO MARKET ROADS. ADDITIONALLY, THE FIRST TIME, ONE LIGHT WOULD TURN ON AND THE OTHER WOULD STAY OFF AT RANDOM MOMENTS - WITHOUT TOUCHING SWITCHES. I HAVE FOUND THAT PRIOR YEARS' MODELS HAD THIS ISSUE, AS WELL, BUT BECAUSE MINE IS A 2010, CHRYSLER SAYS MINE IS A-OK AND THEY ARE NOT INCLUDING MINE IN THE RECALL. I DID NOT FEEL A-OK THE OTHER NIGHT WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME IN THE DARK WITH ONLY MY HAZARDS GUIDING MY WAY.
I HAVE A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN. IT HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT WHICH IS LESS THAN THE AVERAGE 12,000/YEAR. THE TRANSMISSION IS DEAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. WHEN IT STARTED DYING I ONLY HAD 11 MILES NOTICE. IT HAD NOT GIVEN ANY WARNING PRIOR TO THAT. THE WARRANTY ON THE POWER TRAIN EXPIRED OCT. 25, 2015 WHICH MEANS IT ONLY EXPIRED 10 MONTHS AGO. THIS VAN WAS NOT ABUSED. I ONLY DROVE IT BACK AND FORTH 8 MILES TO WORK. WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT IT FELT LIKE IT WANTED TO STALL. IT KEPT COMING TO A ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO SAID THE TRANSMISSION WAS DEAD. THEN CHRYSLER MADE ME TOW IT TO ONE OF THEIR DEALERSHIPS WHICH THEY TOO SAID THE TRANSMISSION WAS DEAD.
MY CAR SHUTS OFF AS YOU ARE DRIVING, CAR CAN BE PUT INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED AS ITS MOVING. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS APPEAR. THIS OCCURS WHEN IN MOTION AT ALL SPEEDS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON ALL TYPES OF FORWARD MOTION, TURNS, HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS. I HAVE NOT YET HAD AN INCIDENT INVOLVING BACKING UP. THIS HAS HAPPENED 8 TIMES OVER THE LAST 3 WEEKS.
SLIDING DOOR RANDOMLY OPENS WHEN CAR IS IN PARK.
FIRST PROBLEM THE LEFT SLIDING DOOR STOPPED WORKING WHICH APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. THE OTHER MAJOR ISSUE WHICH IS VERY COMMON WITH THIS VEHICLE IS THE VAN RUNS GREAT UNTIL IT DOESN'T THEN THERE SEEMS TO BE NO DEFINITE FIX. IT STARTED A FEW MONTHS AGO WHEN MY VAN WOULDN'T START. WE HAVE TAKEN TO MULTI OK E MECHANICS AND HAVE ALSO HAD IT TESTED WITH RECOMMENDATIONS FROM AUTO STORES. WE HAVE REPLACED THREE BATTERIES, TWO STARTERS, THE ALTERNATOR AND STILL SOMETHING IS DRAINING THE BATTERY. I CAN'T EVEN COUNT THE TIMES I HAVE BEEN TOLD WELL MAYBE IT'S THIS OR THAT AND WE FIX IT ONLY TO DRIVE IT AND FIND MYSELF AND KIDS STRANDED SOMEWHERE BECAUSE IT WON'T START AGAIN. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY (PARKED), ENGINE RUNNING, AIR CONDITIONING ON, NO ONE IN DRIVER. SEAT, OCCUPIED BY SEAT BELTED ADULT PASSENGER WITH ARM RESTS DOWN, FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PRIVATE PARKING LOT WITH A SLIGHT INCLINE, SLOPING DOWN TO & PERPENDICULAR TO ROADWAY. PASSENGER REACHED OVER & SHUT OFF THE IGNITION & THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS TOWARDS ROADWAY APPROXIMATELY 30 FEET BEHIND. ROADWAY IS A 2 LANE HEAVILY TRAVELED HIGHWAY WITH TYPICAL SPEEDS OF 60 MPH, POSTED SPEED OF 50 MPH. PASSENGER WAS FACING EMINENT DEATH & MAYHEM. PASSENGER QUICKLY PUSHED THE SHIFTER BUT IT COULD MOVE NO HIGHER, & THEN GRABBED STEERING WHEEL (POWER STEERING, NO POWER) TURNING IT. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO TURN, AVOIDING ENTERING THE ROADWAY, & STRIKING AN UNOCCUPIED STATIONARY (PARKED) VEHICLE; COMING TO A STOP. THE PASSENGER BELIEVES THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT HAVE ROLLED BACKWARDS OR IN ANY OTHER DIRECTION WHEN THE IGNITION WAS SWITCHED OFF.
THIS IS THE 2ND TIME I HAVE HAD A TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR BEAK INSIDE TIRE CAUSING THE TIRE TO GO FLAT AS WELL AS HAVING A FIRE ON THE INSIDE DUE TO THE FRICTION. (LAST TIME WAS IN 2014). I DID KEEP THE TIRE WITH BURN SPOTS AS WELL AS THE TIRE SENSOR FROM FIRESTONE. I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS ON AN OFF RAMP WHEN THIS HAPPENS ONE NOT GOING 70 MPH ON THE THRU WAY (I75). LAST TIME MY DEALER (CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE IN BRANDON FL) DID REPLACE A SENSOR AS WELL AS THE TIRE. (OCTOBER, 2014 / A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING THIS CAR). MANY MECHANICS STATE THEY NEVER SEEN THIS PROBLEM; HOWEVER, I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS TWICE.
