I RECEIVED A RECALL ON THE REAR VENT WINDOW SWITCH FROM CHRYSLER SEVERAL MONTHS AGO AND I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE YET AND THAT I SHOULD RECEIVE ANOTHER MAIL SHORTLY WHEN THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. I JUST RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL AND CALLED THE DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE REPAIR AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WERE STILL NOT PARTS AVAILABLE. IF THIS IS A SAFETY ITEM, WHY DO YOU LET THE MANUFACTURERS HAVE SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE REPAIRING VEHICLES WHILE THE OWNERS TAKE THEIR LIVES AT RISK EVERYDAY? IS THIS RECALL GOING TO TAKE AS LONG AS THE JEEP RECALL WHERE THE COMPANY IS SUPPOSED TO ADD A TRAILER TOWING PACKAGE TO KEEP JEEPS FROM CATCHING FIRE IF HIT IN THE REAR END? I BET THOSE OWNERS ARE UNHAPPY ABOUT POSSIBLY RIDING TO THEIR DEATH WHILE WAITING. YOU SHOULD GIVE COMPANIES ONLY A CERTAIN TIME PERIOD TO REPAIR VEHICLES BEFORE THEY START PAYING PENALTIES. *TR
REGARDS CHRYSLER RECALL P25 / NHTSA 14V-234. RECALL WAS INITIATED AROUND JUNE 2014. REPAIR PARTS WERE NOT THEN AVAILABLE, SO A NOTICE WAS ISSUED TO SIMPLY DISCONNECT THE AFFECTED SWITCH, DISABLING THE REAR QUARTER VENT SWITCH. WE DID THAT. NOW, WE HAVE RECEIVED A SECOND IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR SWITCH REPLACEMENT. BUT, THE DEALER NOW SAYS THE PART MAY BE AVAILABLE IN APRIL 2015, NEARLY A YEAR AFTER THE INITIAL RECALL NOTICE. THIS DOES NOT, I BELIEVE, "...REMEDY THE DEFECT WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME..." PS - WAS UNABLE TO MAKE THIS FORM WORK ON INTERNET EXPLORER 11 / WINDOWS 7. IT PERFORMED SATISFACTORILY ON MAC SAFARI 7.1.2.

THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, NO LIGHTS, NO POWER, UNABLE TO UNLOCK/LOCK WITH FOB. (NOTHING WAS LEFT ON IN VEHICLE OR PLUGGED IN). FULLY CHARGED BATTERY TO 100%, DROVE NEXT TWO DAYS WITH NO PROBLEMS. BLUETOOTH STOPPED WORKING AND CONNECTING, BUTTONS FAILED TO RESPOND, POWER SEAT ON DRIVER STOPPED WORKING, POWER SLIDE DOOR ON PASSENGER STOPPED WORKING. BATTERY DIED AGAIN, THIS TIME ABLE TO GET LIGHTS, BUT NOT START. CHRYSLER JUMPED THE VEHICLE, LEFT RUNNING TO CHARGE. DROVE 5 HOURS STRAIGHT HOME AND PARKED, ENSURED EVERYTHING WAS TURNED OFF AND LOCKED. NEXT MORNING, BATTERY DEAD AGAIN, NO LIGHTS, POWER BUT STATIC SOUND COMING OUT OF ALL SPEAKERS IN THE CAR. CHRYSLER TOWED CAR. RAN SCANS /DIAGNOSTICS, CLAIM TO FIND NO PROBLEMS BUT CANNOT IDENTIFY WHAT CAUSED STATIC TO COME OUT OR WHY OTHER ELECTRONICALLY EQUIPMENT FAILED. THEIR CLAIM IS THEY USED THE ONLY AUTHORIZED BATTERY SCANNER FOR CHRYSLER WHICH TRIGGERED NO PROBLEMS WITH BATTERY OR ELECTRONICS.. STILL IN SHOP AGAIN. 3 DEAD BATTERIES IN ONE WEEK. *TR

VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY, WAS IN "PARK" GEAR AND HAD BEEN RUNNING FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES. VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND KEYS WERE REMOVED FROM IGNITION WHEN VEHICLE SUDDENLY STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. REPORTEDLY, VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND BRAKING WAS ATTEMPTED BUT VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. VEHICLE ROLLED INTO TREE/FENCE AND DAMAGED PASSENGER DOOR, THAT HAD BEEN LEFT OPEN IN THE HASTE OF THE INCIDENT, AND THE REAR BUMPER. DAMAGE ESTIMATES AT 4K.

DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAGS(SEAT HEADRESTS) EXPLODED AND SMACKED WITH SIGNIFICANT FORCE INTO THE BACK OF DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER HEADS CAUSING SEVERE HEADACHES. NO ACCIDENT, NO BRAKING, JUST DRIVING AT 50 MPH. WE HAVE ONLY 18000 MILES ON OUR VEHICLE. WHEN WE TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER, AND AFTER THEY DID SOME RESEARCH FOR APPROXIMATELY AN 1 1/2 HOURS, THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAD CAUSED BOTH HEADRESTS TO EXPLODE BUT THEY COULD NOT JUST BE RELOCKED BECAUSE THEY WERE SEVERELY DAMAGED AND WE COULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR. THEY TOLD US THAT WE WOULD BE WITHOUT OUR VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST THREE WEEKS. TOLD US WE WOULD HAVE TO GET A RENTAL CAR. PLEASE CONFIRM OTHER INCIDENTS OF THIS NATURE AND LET US KNOW WHAT REPAIRS WILL BE DONE AND IF THE CAR WILL BE SAFE TO DRIVE FOLLOWING THE REPAIRS. *TR
HEADREST SPLIT IN HALF AND SMACKED BOTH DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD WITH SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF FORCE WITHOUT WARNING. A DASH WARNING THEN CAME ON SAYING THAT AIR BAG HAD DEPLOYED. NEITHER OF THE FRONT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. WE HAD NOT TOUCHED THE BRAKES, NOT HAD ANYONE HIT US, NOR DID WE HIT ANYONE/ANYTHING. WE WERE JUST DRIVING AT ABOUT 50 MPH WHEN THIS HAPPENED. CAUSED SEVERE HEADACHE AND BACK SPASM TO BOTH DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER. SCARY! MY HUSBAND JUST TOOK IT TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER BUT THEY HAD NO IDEA OF THE CAUSE. SINCE THERE WAS NO DAMAGE/ACCIDENT THEY JUST RELOCKED THE AIRBAGS. RATHER SCARY TO THINK THAT THIS MAY HAPPEN AGAIN AND MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT THE NEXT TIME. I WAS TRAVELING AT 20 MPH AND TURNED RIGHT ONTO ANOTHER STREET. IN MID-TURN, THE ENGINE CUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING AND ALL POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES FAILED. I NEARLY MISSED A CAR ON THE CORNER AS THE CAR TURNED. BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO BRAKE, I AM NOT SURE HOW THE VAN STOPPED WITHOUT ANY RESPONSE FROM THE BRAKES. ONCE I CAME TO A STOP, I PUT THE CAR BACK INTO PARK AND RESTARTED THE CAR. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW ON 2/13/2013 AND HAVE NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. WE DO SEE REPORTS OF MANY CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VANS AND DODGE CARAVANS REPORTING THIS PROBLEM GOING BACK TO 1996, WITH SOME RECALLS ALONG THE WAY. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN TO TYSON MOTORS IN SHOREWOOD, IL, IN 2104 FOR THE SAFETY RECALL P25/NHTSA 14V-234, WHICH RELATES TO THE REAR QUARTER VENT WINDOW SWITCH POSSIBLY CAUSING A FIRE. THE SWITCH WAS DEACTIVATED AND I WAS TOLD THE DEALER WOULD CALL ME WHEN THE NEW SWITCH CAME IN. IT HAS BEEN WELL OVER 6 MONTHS AND THE NEW SWITCH HAS NOT BEEN INSTALLED. THE DEALER TELLS ME THAT THEY ARE NOT RECEIVING THE PARTS. IT IS MY CONTENTION THAT THE PART HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED WITHIN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. I WISH TO BE CONTACTED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

THE ENGINE, WITHOUT WARNING, WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 5 TIMES SINCE OCTOBER 13, 2014. THERE IS NO WARNING THE ENGINE IS GETTING READY TO STALL, AND THE ONLY LIGHT ON THE DASH THAT COMES ON AFTER THE STALL IS THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. AS CAR IS COASTING UNDER INERTIA, I AM ABLE TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTART THE ENGINE WITH NO TROUBLE. THERE ARE NO ERROR CODES STORED IN THE VAN'S COMPUTER, PER MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND CANNOT FIGURE OUT A SOLUTION. THE CONTACT HAD TO RE-INSERT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE GEAR LEVER FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON PA TURNPIKE, DURING MODERATE TRAFFIC. THE CARS ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL POWER SHUTOFF FOR AT LEAST 5 SECONDS. DASH LIGHTS ALSO SHUTOFF. THE CAR ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL TURNED BACK ON AND WE CONTINUED DRIVING. WE ALSO HAD OTHER INCIDENCES WHEN BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND THE CAR WOULD STALL. IT TOOK OUR DEALERSHIP OVER TWO MONTHS OF DIAGNOSTICS AND SEVERAL REPAIRS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP ADDED AN EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP AND ALSO REPLACED SOMETHING IN THE DASHBOARD WHICH INVOLVED THE IGNITION. SO FAR WE HAVEN'T HAD ANY OTHER ISSUES BUT I HEAR OF SIMILAR ISSUES ON OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES AND WONDER IF TOWN AND COUNTRY SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR IGNITION PROBLEMS. *TR
