VEHICLE STARTED LEAKING OIL LOSS OIL PRESSURE AND WAS INFORMED THAT I NEEDED AN OIL FILTER HOUSING REPLACEMENT THAT'S ON BACK ORDER 56,000 OR MORE! I HAVE TO PAY A CAR NOTE ON A VEHICLE THAT I CAN'T DRIVE BECAUSE OF A ISSUE WITH DEALERS NOT HAVING THE PARTS TO REPAIR IT! THIS IS NOT RIGHT AND MY VEHICLE AND ALL VEHICLE LIKE MINE SHOULD BE RECALLED!
THE VEHICLE HAS CYLINDER #2 MISFIRE CODE. TWO SEPARATE INDEPENDENT LOCAL MECHANICS BOTH SUGGEST THIS IS DUE TO PITTING OF THE CYLINDER HEAD MATERIAL. THEY TELL ME IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE, 3.6L. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT.
MISFIRE AND ROUGH IDLE AT ALL TEMPERATURES AND SPEEDS. DIAGNOSED WITH A FAULTY HEAD WITH LOW COMPRESSION ON CYLINDER 2 AT INDEPENDENT SHOP. MORE THAN 20% DIFFERENCE IN PSI COMPRESSION TEST WITH A LEAKDOWN LOSS OF NEARLY 80%, PULLED VALVE COVER SHOWS A ROLLED CAM. DEALERSHIP HAS VEHICLE FOR REPAIR UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT WILL NOT PERFORM LEAKDOWN TEST OR PULL THE VALVE COVER TO SUBMIT FOR REPAIR. THEY HAVE STATED THAT IT IS ROUGH TO RUN AND LIKELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AND YET INSIST THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO, AS THIS IS JUST "HOW CHRYSLERS ARE". PRIOR TO DIAGNOSIS, FULL TUNE UP PERFORMED AND SPARK/FUEL WAS CHECKED.
WE WE'RE DRIVING HOME FROM BISHOP ON THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VAN WOULDN'T SHIFT TO 3 GEAR. IT WOULDN'T GO PAST 40 MILES PER HOUR. EVERY TIME WE TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE RPM'S WOULD GO PAST THE RED SECTION (ABOUT SECTION 8 OR 9). IT WAS DRIVING FINE AROUND 65 MILES PER HOUR PRIOR, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WOULDN'T CONTINUE ACCELERATING AT THAT SPEED ANYMORE. WE PULLED OVER TRYING TO SWITCH GEARS TO SEE IF IT WOULD GO BACK TO NORMAL, BUT THAT DIDN'T WORK AND WE ALSO TRIED TURNING OFF THE CAR AND NOTHING WORKED. WE PULLED UP AT A GAS STATION FOR MORE GAS. WHEN WE TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND PUT IT INTO DRIVING GEAR IT JOLTED FOR A SECOND RIGHT BEFORE AND AFTER TAKING IT OUT OF THE DRIVING GEAR. WE HAD TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY AT 40 MILES PER HOUR WITH THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON SO WE WOULDN'T GET HIT FROM BEHIND FROM COMING AND UN COMING TRAFFIC SINCE IT WAS PITCH DARK AT NIGHT. ALSO, THE LEFT BACK PASSENGER DOOR RIGHT BEHIND THE DRIVER SEAT WAS NO LONGER WORKING EARLIER. IT WON'T OPEN NEITHER WITH THE CLICKER, OR BY HAND (INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE) OR BY THE INSIDE AUTOMATIC BUTTONS FOR THE DOOR. IT JUST DOESN'T UNLOCK ANY MORE.
The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that the driver-side rear sliding door locking mechanism failed and the door would not open from inside or outside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the door actuator and the failure was remedied. Later the failure had occurred on both the rear driver’s and passenger’s side sliding door. The failure was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 20,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT ~95,000 FOR P0302 - MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 2 AT IDLE. THE LOCAL CHRYSLERY DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT DIAGNOSED IT AS LOW COMPRESSION DUE TO A VALVE ISSUE. THE FIX IS LEFT HEAD REPLACEMENT AT JUST UNDER $2700. THIS IS CLEARLY A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS ENGINE LOOKING AT OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THE 3.6L PENTASTAR ENGINES IN THE TOWN AND COUNTRY, GRAND CARAVAN AND DODGE JOURNEY. NO RECALL OR SERVICE BULLETING APPEARS TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that he was not able to enter or exit the vehicle through the passenger’s side sliding door. The contact also stated that the driver’s side sliding door was making a loud buzzing sound whenever it would close. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the contact was informed that both locking mechanisms needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and referred the contact back to the local dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.
DRIVING DOWN CITY ROAD CAME TO STOP. PUSHED GAS PEDAL RPM'S INCREASED BUT VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE. UNDRIVABLE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. NO PROBLEMS SINCE NEW PURCHASE TILL THAT DAY. STATES PER MY VEHICLE MAKE MODEL YEAR THERE IS RECALL FOR TRANSMISSION PUMP FAILURE. BUT WHEN I PUT VIN NUMBER IN NO RECALL PULLS UP.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET WITH MY KIDS,I WAS 'PUNCHED' IN THE BACK OF MY HEAD BY THE SUPPLEMENTAL ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. UPON EXAMINATION, THE PLASTIC THAT HOOKS ONTO THE HOLDING PIN SNAPPED RELEASING THE HEAD RESTRAINT.
REAR PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT LOCK CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD FOR BOTH CHILDREN AND ADULT PASSENGERS. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING, OR WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO OPEN MANUALLY OR ELECTRONICALLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR PRIOR TO THE FAILURE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GILLMAN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (10585 W. SAM HOUSTON PKWY S, HOUSTON, TX 77099, (832) 553-0100) WHERE THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR ACTUATOR WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THE DRIVER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK AND WILL NOT OPEN. THE DOOR SUDDENLY JUST STOPPED WORKING AND THE LOCK IS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE POSITION. THE DOOR CAN NOT BE OPENED BY THE BUTTON ON THE DOOR, KEY FOB, OR THE BUTTON ON THE FRONT VISOR. THE VAN ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES ON IT.
SLIDING DOORS MAKIN A BUZZIN NOISE WHEN LOCK, UNLOCK, OR OPEN DOORS, ALSO MAKINGBA RATTLING NOISE WHEN STARTS, LOOSING POWER BEETWEEN GEARS
The second row, sliding doors have always made a buzzing sound when closing. Last year the driver's side sliding door stopped making the buzzing sound and a light would come on while driving down the road indicating a door was open, then the door became inoperable and the motor had to be replaced. Now the passenger side sliding door is doing the same thing and looks like it may have to be replaced as well.

VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A CITY STREET ALONG THE SIDEWALK IN FRONT OF A RESIDENCE. I PULLED OUT ONTO THE STREET WENT APPROX. 100-125FT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG (NOT FRONT BUT SIDE OF VAN) EXPLODED VEHICLE DIED SET THERE A FEW MINUTES TO COMPREHEND WHAT HAPPENED WAS ABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE AND MOVE TO SIDE OF STREET GOT OUT WALKED AROUND NO OTHER DAMAGE TO VEHICLE CALLED TOW TRUCK AND VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN ONTO ROLL BACK
The sliding rear doors became stuck and will not open. In the event of an emergency, the children will not be able to exit the vehicle quickly. The problem is confirmed by a dealer. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance representatives. There were no warning lamps or messages.
PASSENGER SIDE LOCK ACTUATOR MAKES A BUZZING SOUND WHEN UNLOCKING DOOR.
ON 9/3/20, I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE THE DRIVER WHO CRASHED INTO ME RAN A RED LIGHT WHILE I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN OFF THE OFFRAMP AT SAHARA AVE. TO GO WEST IN LAS VEGAS, NV. THE ESTIMATED IMPACT FROM THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS THAT HE WAS DOING ABOUT 45MPH, THIS TOTALED MY LEFT DRIVERS SIDE AND CAUSED ME TO HAVE A FRACTURED CLAVICLE AND #2 RIB, WHICH I WAS RUSHED TO UMC TRAUMA, LAS VEGAS, BY AMBULANCE. THE PROBLEM IS NONE OF MY AIR BAGS DEPLOYED FROM THIS CRASH AND I'M WONDERING IF THERE IS DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT. THE ACCIDENT CASE #200900200 FROM THE NHP IS AT THEIR SOUTHERN COMMAND, 702-486-4100. THE OTHER DRIVER WAS CITED FOR RUNNING A RED LIGHT CAUSING INJURY. MY INSURANCE CO. HAS TOTALED THE VEHICLE AND NOW WANTS TO SALVAGE IT, THEY ARE FARMERS INS., SO YOU MIGHT CONTACT THEM TO SAVE ANY EVIDENCE YOU MAY NEED.*DT
When I was driving my children to daycare the car suddenly lost power and was unable to drive over 20 mph. Fortunately, it was early in the morning and the road I usually travel was not as busy as it is later in the day. The RPMs were jumping and the car was jerking around. Luckily, I was able to pull into a residential area and call for a tow. No warning lights came on in the vehicle and I was traveling on a main road with a speed limit of 50 MPH when the problem occurred. I had the transmission replaced and the mechanic said this is a very common problem with the 2016 Town and Country and upon further inspection I read that over 20,000 of these make and model vehicles were recalled for the same exact type of transmission failure. I doubt my mechanic has the old transmission still in his possession but I have receipts of what exactly was repaired.
ENGINE TICKING/KNOCKING STARTED AT ABOUT 70,000 MILES, AUGUST 2020. IT APPEARS TO BE THE ROCKER ARMS. WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING LOSS OF POWER PERIODICALLY. IT TICKS WHEN IDLING AND SPEEDS UP AS ENGINE IS REVVED OR ACCELERATING. BECOMES LOUDER AFTER BEING DRIVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND FOR LONGER DRIVES OVER 20 MINS.
DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR STOPPED OPENING, STUCK IN LOCK POSITION. I REMOVED THE PLASTIC DOOR PANEL AND DISCOVERED THAT THE ROD FROM THE LOCK SWITCH WAS STUCK, BUT I ONLY HAD TO WIGGLE IT A BIT FROM WHERE IT TERMINATES (SHOWN BY THE YELLOW ARROW ON THE UPPER LEFT OF THE IMAGE) TO FREE IT. PUT THE PANEL BACK IN POSITION, BUT NOW THE DOOR "BUZZES" LOUDLY FOR HALF A SECOND EVERYTIME THE CAR IS LOCKED OR SOON AFTER DRIVING (LOCKS AUTOMATICALLY SOON AFTER BEGINNING A DRIVE).*DT
ANTI-WHIPLASH HEADREST DEPLOYED SPONTANEOUSLY VEHICLE WAS UNOCCUPIED SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY
OUR 2016 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY HAS WOTHIN THE LAST 3 WEEKS STARTED MAKING A LOUD BUZZING NOISE COMING FROM BOTH DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOORS WHEN THE VAN STARTS MOVING. RECENTLY THIS WEEK THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING IT CAN'T EVEN BE OPENED MANUALLY. THE DOOR CAN'T BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE EITHER.
DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR MECHANISM WOULD NOT WORK USING KEY FOB OR INSIDE AUTOMATIC BUTTON MOUNTED ON INSIDE. MANUAL LOCK ALSO WOULD NOT WORK. IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY OR ACCIDENT WE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ABLE TO EXTRACT OUR 2-YEAR OLD GRANDSON QUICKLY AS WE WOULD HAVE HAD TO GET OUR 5-YEAR OLD GRANDSON OUT OF HIS CAR SEAT FIRST THEN CRAWL OVER HIS SEAT TO GET HIS BROTHER OUT. IN AN EMERGENCY WE MAY NOT HAVE THE TIME TO EXTRACT OUR GRANDCHILDREN. FROM RESEARCH I'VE DONE IT APPEARS THIS PROBLEM HAS EXISTED SINCE 2003 & CHRYSLER HAS DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO CORRECT THIS DESIGN FLAW PUTTING PEOPLE'S LIVES AT RISK. I PAID OVER $1,200 TO REPLACE THE MECHANISM. IN MY OPINION THIS IS CLEAR NEGLIGENCE BY CHRYSLER/ DODGE. THE ONLY SAVING GRACE WAS THE REPAIR SHOP (PEP BOYS) FIXED THE WRONG DOOR, WHEN I COMPLAINED TO THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE THEY AGREED TO REPAIR THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. ALTHOUGH, I STILL HAD TO PAY FOR LABOR OF $457.00. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED AT OUR HOME, HAD TO GET THE OLDEST GRANDSON OUT FIRST, REMOVE HIS SEAT THEN GET THE 2-YEAR OLD OUT. NOT EASY FOR A 65 YEAR OLD WITH BAD KNEES. IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN ALONE WHEN THIS HAPPENED SHE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET THEM OUT. I HOPE YOUR AGENCY LOOKS INTO THIS BEFORE A TRAGEDY BEFALLS SOMEONE UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE DUE TO AN OBVIOUS THAT HAS BEEN IGNORED FOR REARS.
THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT LOCK AND WHEN THE VAN IS OPENED IT BUZZES IN THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR. BOTH ISSUES WERE DISCOVERED WHEN THE VAN IS STAIONARY. THE FIRST ISSUE WAS DISCOVERED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO AND THE SECOND ISSUE WAS DISCOVERED ON 8-16-20. THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN WITH KIDS BEING IN THE VEHICLE, AND NOT KNOWING IF THE DOORS MIGHT BECOME LOCKED TRAPPING THE KIDS RIDING IN CAR SEATS WE CANT GET TO.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT'S WIFE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO CHRISTOPHER'S DODGE RAM (16655 W COLFAX AVE, GOLDEN, CO 80401) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS YET TO BE DIAGNOSED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V461000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 71,000.
DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR MAKES A LOUD BUZZING SOUND WHILE LOCKING OR UNLOCKING THE VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE AND AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR (AROUND $650). EVENTUALLY THE LOCK WILL NOT FUNCTION AT ALL AND YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOOR. THIS IS A LIFE SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY CHRYSLER.
WHILE DRIVING OR SITTING STILL ALL THE INDICATOR LIGHTS JUST COME ON IF YOU WERE STARING THE VECHICLE FOR THE FIRST TIME,IF YOU TURN THE CAR OFF IT WILL NOT START BACK UP IF YOU TAKE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION THE WARNING BUZZER STARTS RINGING AND THE REMOTE WILL NOT WORK.ALSO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON FOR DAYS I HAD IT AT THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. THE TOWN& COUNTY HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE LIKE THIS ON IT 2008 MODLE THIS HAS OCCURED FIVE TIME
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY TOURING. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED HE PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE MECHANIC WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER, HOMETOWN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM LOCATED AT 228 S WILSON ST, VINITA, OK 74301, (918) 256-6455, TO NOTIFY THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED AS OF YET. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V461000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,100.
WHILE ACCELERATING ONTO THE FREEWAY THE GAS PEDAL WENT DOWN FARTHER THAN WAS PUSHED AND WHAT WAS A GRADUAL ACCELERATION OF ABOUT 50/55 THE VEHICLE JUMPED TO 82MPH. SEVERAL THINGS WERE TRIED TO SLOW IT DOWN WHILE MANEUVERING TO AVOID HITTING OTHER VEHICLES AND A SEMI. THE FLOOR MAT WAS FACTORY AND ATTACHED TO THE HOOK AND NOTHING WAS IN THE WAY OF THE PEDAL. BRAKES WERE APPLIED BUT IT DIDN'T SLOW IT ENOUGH AND UPON LETTING OFF, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED MORE. THE CRUISE WAS TURNED ON AND OFF TO MAKE SURE IT WASN'T THAT. THE GEARS WERE SHIFTED DOWN AND NOT UNTIL IT WAS SHIFTED IN THE THE 4TH GEAR DID IT START TO RELEASE CONTROL. THIS WAS VERY SCARY AND LASTED FOR SEVERAL MILES.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SHOTTENKIRK CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM DEALER LOCATED AT 200 LIBERTY BLVD, CANTON, GA 30114, FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT IT WOULD TAKE A WEEK TO HAVE THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST COMPLETED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR MAKES A SHORT BUZZING NOISE WHEN THE DOOR IS UNLOCKED. THIS OCCURS IF THE DOOR IS SHUT OR OPEN. IT BUZZES WHEN I USE THE REMOTE UNLOCK PUSHING IT TWICE TO UNLOCK THE PASSENGER SIDE. IT ALSO BUZZES WHEN I PLACE MY HAND INSIDE THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE TO UNLOCK THE PASSENGER SIDE. IT BUZZES EVERY TIME I USE THE HANDLE TO UNLOCK THE PASSENGER SIDE WHETHER THE DOOR IS LOCKED OR NOT. OTHERWISE THE DOOR APPEARS TO OPERATE NORMALLY SO FAR (TWO DAYS). THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND THIS HAPPENS WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING OR NOT. IT DOES NOT MAKE THE NOISE WHEN I LOCK THE DOOR. THE NOISE APPEARS TO BE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE DOOR. I HAVE NOT BROUGHT IT INTO A DEALERSHIP AS OF NOW.
PASSENGER-SIDE SLIDING DOOR LOCK DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY AND SOMETIMES GETS STUCK. IT MAKES A LOUD BUZZING NOISE WHEN TRYING TO LOCK AND UNLOCK. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED.
THE SIDE DOORS THAT ARE POWERED TO OPEN AND CLOSE WHEN THEY LOCK ONE OF THEM MAKES A BUZZ SOUND AND WHEN UNLOCKED THE OPPOSITE DOOR MAKES A BUZZ SOUND. THIS SOUND HAPPENS IF IM PARKED OR DRIVING IF THE DOORS ARE LOCKED OR UNLOCKED.
PASSENGER REAR SLIDING DOOR LOCKED AND COULD NOT BE OPENED. DEALER REPLACED LATCHING MECH-COST 650.00 IN2018. THEN IN 2020 THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING REAR DOOR DID THE SAME THING, DEALER REPLACED LATCHING MECH-COST 950.00. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE DOORS CAN ONLY BE OPENED BY THE DEALER.
EVERY TIME IT AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS OR KEY FOB IS USED TO UNLOCK IT- MY REAR PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR MAKES A LOUD BUZZING. ALSO- THAT DOOR DOESN'T LOCK, EVEN WHEN THE LOCK BUTTON IS PUSHED MULTIPLE TIMES FROM THE KEY FOB.

THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE COST OF THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.

LOUD BUZZING NOISE COMING FROM PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WHEN WE LOCK OR UNLOCK ANY OF THE DOORS.
ONE DAY THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WOULDN'T OPEN IN OUR 2016 TOWN AND COUNTRY.. IT COULDN'T BE LOCKED, UNLOCKED, OR OPENED MANUALLY. TWO WEEKS LATER THE REAR PASSENGERS DOOR STARTED MAKING THE SAME NOISE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR MAKE AND MODEL. I WAS TOLD THE ACTUATORS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED IN BOTH DOORS ($1000) A DOOR. I ASKED THE MECHANIC IF THE CAR DOORS COULD BE MADE FUNCTIONAL WITHOUT FIXING THE AUTOMATIC ACTUATORS, AND THEY TOLD ME BASICALLY THEY HAVE TO BREAK THE DOOR IN ORDER TO OPEN IT OR FIX IT. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. IF WE WERE IN A CAR ACCIDENT THERE WOULD BE NO WAY OF OPENING EITHER PASSENGER DOOR. I ASKED THE MECHANIC WHAT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO DO IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY, AND HE ADVISED ME THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN THE DOOR WOULD BE TO REPLACE THE ACTUATORS. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER WHO'S ONLY ANSWER WAS THAT MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WERE GOING TO DO. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS, AND THE INTERNET WAS LOADED WITH COMMENTS FROM CUSTOMERS IN THE SAME BOAT. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS TRAPPED INSIDE A CAR WITHOUT ANY POSSIBLE MEANS OF ESCAPE!
OUR PASSENGER SIDE SLIDER DOOR, DOES NOT FULLY CLOSE AND CREATES A CLICKING NOISE WHEN CLOSING. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE IS WARM AND THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING. IF WE KEEP THE CAR IN THE GARAGE IT DOES NOT HAPPEN. THE DOOR IS ALSO NOW STARTING TO COME AJAR WHILE DRIVING CAUSING THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AND DOOR AJAR LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD TO ENGAGE. WE ARE WORRIED THE DOOR COULD PHYSICALLY COME OPEN WHILE DRIVING ENDANGERING THE CHILDREN IN THE BACK. WE PURCHASED THIS CAR IN 2018 AND HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE FROM THE BEGINNING OF OUR OWNERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE AND WE HAVE JUST KEPT THE CAR IN THE GARAGE TO KEEP IT COOL, HOWEVER IT IS BECOMING MORE OF AN ISSUE AND THE DOOR WILL RANDOMLY COME AJAR NOW WHILE DRIVING.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V461000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.

BOTH SLIDING DOORS MAKE AWFUL NOISES WHEN OPENING AND SHUTTING. IT IS BY ALL MEANS NOT A SMOOTH GLIDE FOR OPENING AND SHUTTING. SOMETIMES THEY COME TO A CLOSE AND REOPEN ON THEIR OWN. SOMETIMES YOU CAN'T GET THE DOOR TO CLOSE ALL OF THE WAY AND LATCH. THIS IS NOT SAFE WHEN DRIVING. THEY NEED TO BE LOOKED AT AND PUT ON A RECALL.

DRIVING MY DAUGHTER TO SOCCER PRACTICE, MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER, AS I TURNED INTO A PARK ENTRANCE AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP BEHIND OTHER CARS WAITING TO PARK. (PLEASE NOTE THAT MOMENTS BEFORE I WAS DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAY). AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR WOULD SPUTTER AND JERK BUT DID NOT MOVE FORWARD. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. VAN WOULD NOT MOVE. I WAS IN A STOP AND START SITUATION IN THE PARKING AREA OF A PARK. UPON LEAVING THE PARK, I TRIED TO DRIVE BUT THE VAN BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. I HAD THE VAN TOWED HOME. THE CAR WAS EVALUATED BY A CERTIFIED CHRYSLER TECHNICIAN WHO INFORMED ME THAT I NEEDED A NEW HYDAULIC TRANSMISSIION PUMP, CONSISTENT WITH A RECALL ON MY YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. HOWEVER AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION I WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE DID NOT QUALIFY FOR REPAIRS UNDER RECALL S44 AS MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT RECALLED. PLEASE INCLUDE MY VIN IN THIS RECALL. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING HELD AT THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN LAWRENCEVILLE, GA.
