WAS COMING TO A STOP OFF OF THE INTERSTATE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST SPEED POWER. WAS UNABLE TO GO OVER 10 MPH FROM MY STOPPING POINT. THE ETC LIGHT WAS FLASHING. I HAVE NOT YET TAKEN IT TO A MECHANIC. I DID SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AND IT SEEMS TO BE RUNNING FINE NOW .... BUT WILL THIS HAPPEN AGAIN? *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 55MPH AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR FAILED TO INCREASE SPEED AND STARTED TO JERK SLIGHTLY. THE RPMS THEN JUMPED FROM 1700 ABOUT TO OVER 2500 THEN STARTED PUSHING 3000 AND WOULDN'T GO DOWN UNTIL I WAS OFF THE HIGHWAY AND GOING 30MPH. MY RPM WAS STILL AROUND 2500. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND TURN MY CAR OFF AND THAT SEEMED TO FIX THE ISSUE, UNTIL I NEEDED TO GO ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN. EVERYTIME MY CAR WENT TO SHIFT TO A HIGHER GEAR WHEN I WAS HITTING BETWEEN 50 AND 55MPH IT WOULD HAPPEN. IT TOOK MY CAR TO A MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME MY CAR WAS UNDRIVABLE BECAUSE THIS WOULD RUIN MY TRANSMISSION. I NOW HAVE A COMPLETELY DEAD CAR DUE TO THE PART I NEED BEING NATIONALLY UNAVAILABLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGER AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT BUT NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 07V240000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT COMPLAINED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME DEFECT LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
WE HAVE EXPERIENCED A DROP IN RPM'S IN WET WEATHER, MAINLY AT LOWER SPEEDS DURING A DECELERATION MODE THAT FELT LIKE THE VEHICLE WOULD DIE. A SLOW RESPONSE TO A PANICKED FOOT WAS ALWAYS WHAT HAPPENED. THIS BEGAN AT APPROX. 25,000-30,000 MILES. NEVER WHILE IN THE DEALER REPAIR SHOP. WHILE DRIVING OUR 2008 AVENGER, THERE WAS A RAPID DECELERATION THAT OCCURRED ACCOMPANIED BY THE ETC LIGHT COMING ON AND FLASHING. I APPLIED GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENED, THEN A SPLIT SECOND LATER, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, ETC LIGHT WENT OUT. I SLOWLY ACCELERATED TO 55 MPH AND NOTICED THAT THE RPMS WERE HIGHER THAN USUAL (3200) FOR THE SPEED AND ALSO FELT A HICCUP OR CUTTING OUT FEEL. I THOUGHT THAT I HAD LOST 4TH GEAR? MY HUSBAND AND I ARE SEASONED AUTO SERVICE ADVISORS & ARE VERY MUCH IN TUNE WITH OUR VEHICLES. ALONG WITH THE AFOREMENTIONED ISSUES, NOW AT FREEWAY SPEEDS, RPM'S WILL DROP; WHILE THE ENGINE FEELS AS IF IT WILL CUT OFF & ETC LIGHT COMES ON, THEN GOES OUT. I HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH & FOUND ON THIS NHTSA WEBSITE, APPROX. 90% OF COMPLAINTS FOR LIKE VEHICLES TO BE EXACT OR SIMILAR TO WHAT WE ARE EXPERIENCING. I STOPPED LOOKING AFTER 5 PAGES.(95% OF 1ST 5 PAGES ARE FILLED WITH LIKE CONCERNS). I WILL BE CONTACTING THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION AS WELL. WHY AN OFFICIAL RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ANNOUNCED, BEFUDDLES ME. I HOPE THIS OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE DOES NOT GET IGNORED ANY LONGER. 110,000 IS ON THE VEHICLE ODOMETER NOW. THE MILEAGE WE HAVE ON OUR VEHICLE IS A SIMILAR COMMON DENOMINATOR THAT IS EASILY SEEN ON THE OTHER ETC RELATED COMPLAINTS FOR 2008 AVENGERS. *NOTE-STOP LIGHT SW. & ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR HAVE BEEN REPLACED PER RECOMMENDATION OF CHRYSLER TECHNICIAN. THIS MADE NO DIFFERENCE. (EXCEPT IN OUR BANK ACCOUNT). *TR
BACKING CAR OUT OF THE GARAGE ,AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. *TR
AS VEHICLE WAS BEING FILLED WITH FUEL AFTER 1.7 GAL, FUEL VIOLENTLY SPRAYED OUT OF FUEL FILL AND SATURATED MY ENTIRE UPPER TORSO AND SPLASHED INTO LEFT EYE. (EYE WAS FLUSHED WITH WATER UPON RETURNING HOME AND A HOSPITAL VISIT WAS AVOIDED) EVERY TIME THIS VEHICLE AND MANY OTHER AVENGERS HAVE FUEL ADDED TO THE TANK, IT IS REPORTED THAT THERE IS A SEVERE SPLASH BACK OR SPIT BACK THAT OCCURS CAUSING A SEVERE POTENTIAL OF SEVERE RISK TO LIFE, HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT VIA FLAME, FIRE, EXPLOSION OR CONTAMINATION. DEALER CLAIMS THAT PER CHRYSLER THE FUEL FILLER NECK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT MY COST. AFTER VERY THOROUGH INVESTIGATIONS ON MY OWN, IT APPEARS THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE AND THE DEALERS ARE REPLACING FUEL FILLER NECKS AND COMPLETE FUEL TANKS WHERE THE WHOLE ISSUE IS CAUSED BY A FUEL SAFETY ROLLOVER VALVE LOCATED WITHIN THE FUEL SYSTEM. THIS IS NO JOKING MATTER. NONE OF THESE REPAIRS SHOULD HOLD THE OWNERS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COSTLY REPAIRS OF THE FAULTY FUEL SYSTEM WITH SUCH NUMEROUS REPORTS OF FAILURE. *TR
INTAKE MANIFOLD DEFECTIVE REQUIRING REPLACEMENT. EST. $1300. *TR
WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK I WAS DRIVING APPROX 50 MPH AND I LOSE POWER AND MY ELECTRONIC CONTROL THROTTLE LIGHT CAME ON. I COULDN'T GO FASTER THEN 5 MPH AND MY RPM WOULDN'T PASS 2,000 I PULLED OVER ON SIDE OF ROAD TURNED OFF THE CAR AND TRY TO RESTART BUT IT WOULD ONLY RUN FOR A FEW SECONDS AND CUT OUT AGAIN. MY HOME TOWN MECHANIC SAID THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. THE TOTAL COST IN REPAIR IS ROUGHLY 500 DOLLARS, AND READING ONLINE THERE ARE MORE DRIVERS OUT THERE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS A LIGHTING BOLT ICON ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE THROTTLE CONTROL BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT REPLACE THE THROTTLE CONTROL BODY. THE CONTACT DID NOT CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY MALFUNCTIONED, PREVENTING RPM IN EXCESS OF 2500RPM AND CAPPING SPEED AT 5MPH UPHILL OR 30MPH DOWNHILL (INCLINE DEPENDENT). AT THIS TIME, ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT APPEARED ON DASH. SINCE THIS TIME (3 DAYS SO FAR), THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INOPERABLE. ATTEMPTS TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THIS MALFUNCTION BY SEARCHING THE INTERNET HAVE SHOWN NUMEROUS OTHER CONSUMERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS, PARTICULARLY WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL (2008 DODGE AVENGER), AND ATTRIBUTE IT TO A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY - EITHER THROTTLE BODY ITSELF, THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, WIRES LEADING TO THROTTLE BODY, ELECTRICAL CONTROL OF THROTTLE BODY, I.E. WHETHER MALFUNCTION IS BATTERY-LIFE-DEPENDENT, ETC. *TR
MY DODGE AVENGER HAD A THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH WHEN FIRST STARTING THE VEHICLE. THEREAFTER, THE CAR FIRST WOULD NOT GO OVER 20 MPH. LATER THIS PROBLEM PROGRESSED. THE CAR ONLY HAD A SMALL AMOUNT OF POWER. IT COULD GET UP TO 30-40 MPH ON FLAT AREAS BUT STRUGGLED TO MAINTAIN 5 MPH ON INCLINES. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN GEAR BUT THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED DO TO ENGINE VIBRATIONS. I HAVE REPLACED THE PART AND THE CAR IS STILL HAVIN THE SAME PROBLEM. AT THIS POINT I'M NOT SURE HOW TO PROCEED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON WHEN MOVING SEAT UP OR BACK WHICH MAKES THE SENSOR COME ON, HAVE TO KEEP MOVING THE TRACK UNTIL IT TURNS OFF. IS THIS RELATED TO RECALL G14? FAN IN RADIATOR CONSTANTLY TURNS OFF AND ON, AND NOW MY CAR SEEMS TO HAVE A ELECTRICAL SHORT THAT MAKES A KNOCKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHEN THE AIR/HEATER IS TURNED OFF, ALSO THE LEFT SIDE OF CAR DEFROSTER DOES NOT WORK. MOST RECENT THE LEFT DRIVER SEAT BELT ALL OF A SUDDEN IS NOT RETRACTING, THIS IS NOT SAFE IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT, DEALER IS CHARGING AN OUTRAGEOUS PRICE TO HAVE IT FIXED. *TR
A FEW THINGS HAVE HAPPENED ALL POINTING TOWARDS A FAILED/FAILING TIPM MODULE. THE FIRST THING WE NOTICED WAS THE CAR WOULD STALL WHILE SITTING STILL IN RUSH HOUR/BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC. THEN IN EARLY 2014 THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED TURNING OFF DURING SNOW/RAIN STORMS ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS A FEW TIMES THAT WE REPLACED THE WIPERS, WIPER SWITCH AND WIPER MOTOR AND STILL HAVE THE ISSUE RANDOMLY. LAST WEEK THE HORN STARTED TO RANDOMLY GO OFF TO THE POINT THAT I WAS DRIVING TO WORK TODAY AND IT WENT OFF AND DID NOT STOP. SAW THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION INTO CHRYSLERS TIPM'S SO WANTED TO PUT SOMETHING IN BECAUSE I DO NOT SEE THE 2008 AVENGER IN THE LISTS ONLINE AND THIS IS MORE THAN LIKELY A FAILING/FAILED. TIPM. DEALERSHIPS WANT $800-1000 FOR THE REPLACEMENT, ROCKAUTO,COM HAS IT FOR $260 ($200 CORE CHARGE) $460 TOTAL TO GET THE REPLACEMENT PART THEN RETURN THE CORE. I HAVE A FRIEND WITH 2006 DODGE 3500 DIESEL THAT HE HAD TO REPLACE HIS TIPM RECENTLY AND GOT ONE FROM ROCKAUTO.COM AS WELL AND RECOMMENDED THEM AS THE GO TO PLACE GIVEN CHRYSLER'S INABILITY TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THEIR CAR OWNERS OF THE POTENTIAL RISK/HAZARD. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF MY AVENGER AND BOUGHT IT NEW OCTOBER 2007. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.

WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND NOTICED A DELAYED RESPONSE WHEN PUSHING DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR, MOMENTS LATER I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR'S ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT APPEARED, THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO GO MORE THEN 15MPH. TOOK THE CAR TO A SERVICE STATION WHERE THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND NO DEFAULTS WERE FOUND. *TR
CAR LOST ACCELERATION AT 35 MPH ELECTRONIC THROTTLE LIGHT CAME ON. ACCELERATION CAME BACK UP. NEXT DAY NO PROBLEMS. THE FOLLOWING DAY CAR WAS SPUTTERING AND LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN THEN WENT OFF. LOST ACCELERATION AGAIN AT 30MPH, WITH LIGHT COMING ON AND THEN GOING OFF. 1 HOUR LATER WHEN TURNING ON CAR ELECTRONIC THROTTLE LIGHT IS FLASHING AND THE WHOLE CAR IS SHAKING BADLY. I WAS ABLE TO COAST THE 1/4 MILE HOME SINCE THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC WITH THE CAR SHAKING THE ENTIRE WAY AND THE LIGHT FLASHING. 10 MINUTES LATER HAD TO GO OUT AND MOVE CAR NO ISSUES. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. I HAD THIS FIXED EXACTLY A YEAR AGO. BEING TOLD IT WAS SOMETHING CLOGGING A HOSE. I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE WHEN SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND ALMOST GETTING KILLED WHEN DRIVING. DO A RECALL DODGE. BECAUSE WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY TO FIX THINGS WHEN THE MECHANICS AREN'T SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I'M PRAYING I CAN MAKE IT TO MY GARAGE SAFELY TOMORROW MORNING. I'M TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY CAR AND HAVEN'T IN 2 DAYS. *TR
THE DASH LIGHTS GO ON & OF INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES WHEN I STOP FOR GAS, THE DASH LIGHTS WONT COME ON WHEN I RESTART THE ENGINE. SOMETIMES THE WILL GO OFF WHILE DRIVING AND I HIT A BUMP. I AM UNABLE TO SEE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHEN THIS HAPPENS. *TR
VEHICLE STARTED HAVING ISSUES STARTING AND THEN IT WOULD START AND RUN FINE AND THEN DIE.I WAS CONTACTED AND NOTICED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS NOT COMING ON AND THEN WOULD ALL THE SUDDEN COME ON ANDTHEN QUIT SO I REMOVED THE REAR SEAT AND UNPLUGGED THE WIRE HARNESS AND COULD SEE WHERE IT HAD BEEN BURNED AND LOOKED AT THE TOP OF THE PUMP WHERE THE HARNESS PLUGS IN AND COULD SEE AND SMELL GAS.I REMOVED THE FUEL PUMP AND YOU COULD SEE WHERE ONE OF THE WIRE HARNESSES INSIDE THE FUEL TANK ON THE FUEL PUMP HAD BURNED A HOLE ALL THE WAY THROUGH.IN THE WHOLE PROCESS OF THIS NO FUSE EVER BLEW TO SHUT POWER OFF AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NO FUSE BY SOMEONE AT THE DODGE DEALER.I PROCEEDED TO LOOK ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE AND NOBODY HAS REPORTED IT THE CHANGED THERE FUEL PUMP BUT THAT DOES NOT FIX THE ISSUE. IF THERE IS NO FUSE TO BLOW SOMEBODY IS GOING TO GET HURT AND IF THERE IS A FUSE WHY ARE THEY NOT BLOWING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 123,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 99,360.

ADDITIONALLY, THE RADIO REMAINED ON AFTER THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
I HAVE A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. MY AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. I NOTICED IF I MOVE PASSENGER SEAT FORWARD OR BACK IT COMES ON AND STAYS ON LONGER. AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS AROUND THIS ISSUE, AIR BAGS DEPLOY WHEN DRIVING AND NOT HITTING ANYTHING, OR AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING WHEN IN COLLISION, I THINK THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE! ALL OF THESE PEOPLE WERE TOLD THEIR VIN # DIDN'T MATCH THE RECALL. I MADE APPOINTMENT WITH LITHIA DODGE IN HELENA MT AND THE GUY TOLD ME ON THE PHONE HE DIDN'T EVEN WANT ME TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE OF HOW UNSAFE IT IS. I TOOK IT TO APPOINTMENT TODAY AND THE GUY TODAY TOLD ME THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON MY CAR. HE SAID THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE AIRBAG RECALL. WHAT!?! BIG SURPRISE, MY VIN DOESN'T MATCH!! WHY ARE WE ALL HAVING THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE BUT NOT ON THE RECALL LIST???? *TR
WAS GOING DOWN INTERSTATE, WENT THROUGH TOLLBOOTH, AROUND 55MPH THE ETC LIGHT CAME ON AND THE GAS PEDAL NO LONGER ACCELERATED THE CAR. VEHICLE SPEED RAPIDLY DROPPED AND I HAD TO PULL OVER TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. TURNED VEHICLE OFF, RESTARTED IT AND DROVE ANOTHER 50 FEET BEFORE THE SAME THING HAPPENED. TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF A SECOND TIME AND RESTARTED. HAVEN'T HAD THE PROBLEM SINCE YESTERDAY. HOWEVER AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, THE ETC UNIT ON THE 2008 DODGE AVENGER IS AN EXTREMELY FAULTY UNIT AND THIS HAPPENS TO A LOT OF PEOPLE. TYPICAL REPAIR IS AROUND $800. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALLABLE ITEM. I HAD MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR AND WE WERE NEARLY REAR ENDED DUE TO THE SPEED DROP ON A THREE LANE HIGHWAY. I WILL BE REPORTING THIS TO CHRYSLER AS WELL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,879.

THE FILE SHOWS THAT THIS CARS HAS HAD THE FUEL TANK STRAP WE'RE REPLACE AS THE RECALL STIPULATED BUT ON OCTOBER 2013 THE FUEL TANK STARTED TO LEAK. AFTER INSPECTION, THERE WAS A LOT OF WEAR BETWEEN THE FUEL STRAP AND THE TANK ITSELF, ENOUGH WEAR TO START LEAKING. WHEN REMOVING THE STRAP, THE FUEL STARTED LEAKING A LOT MORE. THERE WAS ENOUGH MOVEMENT THAT THE STEEL ON THE TANK WHERE THE TANK PASSES WAS SHINY. HAD TO REPLACE THE TANK AND PAY FOR IT MYSELF. *TR
EVERY TIME IT RAINS AND I DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT STOP LIGHT OR A ANY COMPLETE STOP. ENGINE STARTS STALLING. THEN CUTS OFF. THIS ISSUE HAS GONE FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS ONLY WHEN IT RAINS. CHECK ENGINE COMES ON WITH CODE P2004( MANIFOLD RUNNER BANK 1 STUCK OPEN.) I HAVE REPLACED THE WHOLE MANIFOLD WITH NEW PARTS I BOUGHT FROM DODGE DEALER. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOESN'T GO AWAY AFTER TRYING TO DELETE CODE. I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TO GO TO DODGE DEALER TO GET IT REPROGRAM WHICH WILL COST ME. MY 08 DODGE PURCHASED AT MONROE MI, DODGE SUPERSTORE. I HAVE AN FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WIRING. WHEN REFUELING, GAS TANK DOES NOT VENT PROPERLY WHICH RESULTS IN A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF GAS BEING BURPED OUT OF THE FILL TUBE RESULTING IN SPILLED FUEL. OFTEN SPILLED FUEL SPLASHES ONTO DRIVER, REAR QUARTER PANEL, AND DRIVERS SIDE REAR WHEEL. SAFETY IS ALWAYS A CONCERN WHEN THERE IS UNEXPECTED AND UNNECESSARY FUEL SPILLS. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH, THE ETC LIGHT CAME ON IN ADDITION TO SEVERAL OTHER LIGHTS AND THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO LOSE ALL POWER TO INCLUDE TURN SIGNAL AND ACCELERATION ALMOST CAUSING A HUGE ACCIDENT. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TRIED TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND IT WOULD NOT START. THINKING IT WAS THE BATTERY I CALLED SOMEONE TO GET A RIDE AND JUMPER CABLES AND LEFT THE VEHICLE ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR OR TWO. WHEN I RETURNED TO JUMP THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE STARTED WITH ONLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND IT ACCELERATED FINE UNTIL I HIT 50+ MPH AND LOST ALL POWER AND ACCELERATION AGAIN SO I PULLED ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ONRAMP. WHILE ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ONRAMP, I CONTINUED TO COAST TO AVOID GETTING ACCIDENTALLY HIT DUE TO THE LOCATION. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO COAST AT ABOUT 20 MPH ALL THE WAY TO MY HOUSE WHICH WAS ABOUT 7 MILES AWAY. DURING THIS TIME I HAD NO ACCELERATION OR POWER AND MULTIPLE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. AFTER THE VEHICLE SAT OVER NIGHT IN MY DRIVEWAY, I WENT OUT TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM AND IT WILL NOT START AGAIN. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER OF THE VEHICLE AND THEY STATED THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS PERTAINING TO THE ISSUE THAT I AM HAVING NOR IS IT COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY AND THEY SUGGESTED THEM TOWING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSIS WHICH I REALLY DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS FOR EITHER AT THIS POINT. AFTER READING MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE EXACT VEHICLE TYPE AND ISSUE, I FOUND THIS SITE.

AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE ALL DODGE AVENGERS BUILT THROUGH MARCH 22, 2007 REQUIRED A NEW INTAKE MANIFOLD (PART NUMBER 04884495AF) BECAUSE VALUES WERE GETTING STUCK OPEN. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TELL ME IT WILL BE $940 BECAUSE THEY WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND REPROGRAM MY CAR. WHEN I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY TOLD ME SINCE MY CAR WAS BUILT IN JUNE 2007 I WOULDN'T QUALIFY FOR THE WARRANTY EVEN IF MY CAR HAD LESS THAN 80,000 MILES. I DID TONS OF RESEARCH ONLINE AND EVERY POST THAT I HAVE READ ABOUT 2008 DODGE AVENGERS WITH P2004 AND P2017 CODES MUST PAY ABOUT $1,000 TO GET THE INTAKE MANIFOLD REPLACED AND REPROGRAM THE CAR. THIS IS THE 1ST DODGE I HAVE EVER PURCHASED AND WILL DEFINITELY BE MY LAST! IF EVERYONE THAT BUYS THIS CAR IS HAVING TO REPLACE THAT INTAKE MANIFOLD ANYWHERE BETWEEN 15,000 MILES AND 110,000 MILES DODGE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS.
