TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE BRAKES SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE PRESSED TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE DEFECT HAD OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN THE DEALER AND THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER WAS REPLACED. THE DEFECT CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO THEN REPLACED THE ABS PUMP AND THE FRONT BRAKES. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE DEFECT WAS STILL PRESENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
WE WERE TRAVELING AT 40 MPH WHEN I NOTICED MY HUSBAND HAD NOT FASTENED HIS SEATBELT IN THE PASSENGERS SEAT. THERE WERE NO REMINDER BUZZERS ON THE DASH NOR WAS THERE A ICON ON THE DASH OF THE CAR. WE CONTACTED OUR SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND QUESTIONED THEM ABOUT IT, THEY IN TURN CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS NONE OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED IN THIS CAR! HOW IS IT THAT THIS CAR HAS NO WARNING ALARMS FOR THIS FRONT SEAT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BACK ROAD COMING UP TO A SEVERE CURVE THE CAR STARTED ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. THE GAS PEDAL WAS NOT PUSHED AL THE WAY DOWN BUT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO SPEED UP. AS I CAME UP TO THE CURVE I COULD NOT MAINTAIN THE CAR ON THE ROAD AND IT FLIPPED FOUR TIMES AND LANDED IN A SWAMP AREA IN ABOUT 2 FEET OR THREE FEET OF WATER. *TR
I FEEL HEAT COMING FROM THE VENT NEAR THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. THE MIDDLE VENTS ALONG WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW VENT ONLY BLOWS ALMOST A/C COOL AIR ALL THE TIME.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V668000 (AIR BAGS) AND CONTACTED THE DEALER (ANDERSON CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM, 5711 E STATE ST, ROCKFORD, IL 61108, (888) 213-3468). THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE REMEDY AND PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE FOR OVER TWO YEARS. A MECHANIC ALSO INSPECTED THE DTC FOR THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR AND STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED WAS UNAVAILABLE TO BE ORDERED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL A DEALER. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER FOR MONTHS, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE REMEDY AND PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. MONTHS LATER, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR FLASHED AND REMAINED ILLUMINATED. I HAD JUST MERGED ONTO 69 HEADING HOME FROM SCHOOL. IT WAS AROUND 930PM. I START TO PICK UP SPEED TO BLEND IN WITH TRAFFIC. THERE WAS A THREE CAR ACCIDENT THAT OCCURRED SO WE ALL SLAMMED ON OUR BRAKES TO AVOID FROM HITTING IT. UNFORTUNATELY I HIT THE BACK OF A FLATBED TOW TRUCK GOING BETWEEN 45-50MPH. TO MY SURPRISE MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. EVEN THOUGH I HAD A RECALL ON MY CAR A FEW MONTHS BACK FOR THE AIRBAGS NOT WORKING RIGHT, SO I TOOK IT TO MY DEALERSHIP TO HAVE MY RECALL FIXED. SO WHEN I GOT IN THIS HEAD ON COLLISION I WAS IN SHOCK MY AIR BAGS STILL DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
I WAS ACCELERATING TO 30 MPH WITH TRACTION SYSTEM ON THAN MY CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN HAD HIGH RPM BUT SPEED WAS DECREASING ALMOST HAD A GUY REAR END ME BC OF THE SPEED ACCELERATED FINE THAN JUST DROPPED THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAPPENED TO ME WITHIN A WEEK . *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FLICKERED OFF AND ON. THE VEHICLE SHORTLY RESUMED NORMAL FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS BUT THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT PASSENGER DEEPLY LACERATED HIS RIGHT MIDDLE FINGER BY SLICING IT ON THE RAZOR-THIN CHROME COVERING OF THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE. BOTH DOOR HANDLES SEEM TO BE PEELING, AND THE CAR IS ONE YEAR, 30,000 MILES OLD. *TR
THIS CAR HAS HAD A VIBRATION AND TRANS SHIFT PROBLEM SENSE THE DAY I PURCHASED THE CAR . FROM THERE IT HAS JUST GOTTEN WORSE . THE CAR WILL DOWN SHIFT ON IT'S OWN TO FIRST GEAR WILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAYS SPEEDS . THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIME WHICH USUALLY CAUSES THE TRANS TO FAIL. WHEN THIS VEHICLE DOWN SHIFT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO EXCEED THE RPM THAT THE DASH CAN EVEN SHOW. THE TRANS HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES . BEING REBUILT TWICE AND A FULL NEW REPLACEMENT THE 3RD TIME . THE FIRST REBUILD DID NOT LAST 5 MILES FROM THE DEALER BEFORE IT FAILED . THE SECOND LAST ABOUT 4500 MILES AND FAILED. THE 3RD TRANS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND NOW BECAUSE THE ENGINE HAS BEEN FORCED FAR PAST WHAT THE RPMS IT SHOULD EXCEED THERE IS NOW A NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE . I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE IN MULTIPLE TIMES TO NO AVAIL IT'S STILL NOT REPAIRED I WAS TOLD THE VIBRATION WAS TIRES . DEALER REPLACED RIMS AND TIRES . PROBLEM IS TILL THERE TOOK IT IN MANY MORE TIMES WAS TOLD IT'S BAD TIRES . I HAVE REPLACES THE TIRES WITH 3 DIFFERENT SETS . PROBLEM IS TILL THERE . DEALERS HAVE TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM THEY CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT . WAS TOLD BY CHRYSLER THAT THEY WERE DONE FIXING IT AND I WAS ON MY OWN THAT THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY REPAIR THE VEHICLE AS THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM . I FEEL THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND POSSES A RISK TO MY SELF AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD WAS TOLD BY CHRYSLER LLC THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE IT TO DRIVE IT HOW IT IS PLEASE HELP. *TR
2013 DODGE AVENGER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE AND RECALL NOTICES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE ESC LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER ALSO BELIEVED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT WAS SITTING AT A COMPLETE STOP, WHEN HIS KNEE ERRONEOUSLY STRUCK AGAINST THE IGNITION KEY AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND RESUMED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON A SEPARATE OCCASION AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER STATED THAT IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE ENGINE FROM STALLING, THE IGNITION KEY SHOULD NOT MAKE CONTACT WITH ANY OBJECT WHILE THE ENGINE WAS OPERATING. ADDITIONALLY, THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE REAR OF VEHICLE VEERED TO THE LEFT. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. WHILE TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY A CAR CUT IN FRONT OF ME AND I HAD TO "JAM" ON THE BRAKES. WHEN I APPLIED THE ABNORMALLY HIGH AMOUNT OF INPUT TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN, LITTLE IF ANY EXTRA BRAKING WAS APPLIED TO THE CAR. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS ROOM IN THE OTHER LANE NEXT TO ME AND I WAS ABLE TO CHANGE LANES AVOIDING AN ACCIDENT. BUT THE BRAKE SYSTEM DID NOT ACT PROPERLY. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD TWO ADDITIONAL INCIDENTS WHERE "EMERGENCY BRAKING" WAS NECESSARY. IN ALL THREE CASES THE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED TO PROVIDE MAXIMUM BRAKING FORCE (CONSIDERABLY LESS BRAKING THAN A MINIVAN I OWN). IN ADDITION, IN NONE OF THE 3 CASES DID THE ABS ENGAGE (PRESUMABLY BECAUSE THE MAXIMUM BRAKING FORCE COULD NOT BE ATTAINED!). I HAVE COMPARED THE BRAKE PEDAL FEEL TO OTHER CARS I OWN, AND OTHER NEW DODGE CARS (I RENTED A CHRYSLER 300 FOR TWO WEEKS AND A DODGE CHALLENGER FOR 2 WEEKS) AND HAVE FOUND THAT THE BRAKES ON THE AVENGER ARE VERY "SPONGY" AS IF THERE IS AIR IN THE LINES. AT LOW SPEEDS THE SOFT FEEL OF THE BRAKES IS SOMEWHAT MASKED. AT HIGHER SPEEDS AND/OR EMERGENCY CONDITIONS, THE BRAKES REQUIRE EXTRA INPUT AND PEDAL TRAVEL TO PROVIDE THE SAME AMOUNT OF BRAKING FORCE WHEN THE BRAKING FORCE SHOULD INCREASE ON THE CAR. SINCE THE INCIDENTS, I HAVE HAD THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED MY COMPLAINT. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER, BOOSTER, AND ABS MODULE. WHILE THE FEEL HAS IMPROVED A LITTLE, THE BRAKES ARE STILL SPONGY AND THE PEDAL TRAVEL IS EXCESSIVE WHEN TRYING TO APPLY THE BRAKES HARDER. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT ALL NEW PARTS WOULD HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER IT NOW LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THERE MAY BE A DESIGN FLAW. DURING THIS TIME I HAVE ALSO LEARNED OF A WOMAN THAT HAS A 2014 CHRYSLER 200 (SAME BRAKE SYSTEM AS THE 2013 DODGE AVENGER) AND SHE HAD VERY SIMILAR ISSUES. *TR
PURCHASED CAR 7/11/2013: (THE 7,000 MILES IS A GUESSTIMATE) 11/21/2013 WHILE IN WV FOR MY MOTHERS FUNERAL, PARKED IN GAS STATION, CAR RUNNING, IN PARK, L/R TURN SIGNALS STARTED FLASHING INDEPENDENTLY THEN THE FLASHERS STARTED GOING OFF, STOPPED BY THEMSELVES. THIS HAS CONTINUED, TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY CODES, ALL CONNECTIONS LOOKED OK. STARTED KEEPING A LOG OF MILAGE WHEN THIS HAPPENS, STARTING ON 1/4/2014 MILEAGE 10,254 AND HAS CONTINUED TO CURRENT DATE 4/30/2014. THIS MAY HAPPEN ONLY ONCE BUT THEN AGAIN IT MAY HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN THE SAME MILAGE. CAN NOT COUNT THE TIMES IT HAPPENS WHILE CAR IS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY WITH KEYS IN THE HOUSE AND NO ONE TOUCHING THEM. I BELIEVE IT'S THE CLUSTER IN THE STEERING COLUMN. ALSO, I COULD NOT GET MY WIPERS TO SPRAY/WIPE UNTIL I TURNED THE TURN SIGNALS ON. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS HAPPEN? *JS

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HOOD RELEASE MECHANISM WAS LOCATED NEAR THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE FOOT REST AND HE WOULD ERRONEOUSLY ACTIVATE THE MECHANISM WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2013 DODGE AVENGER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINTS RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, SHE WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION, SHE WAS GETTING A SAFE, RELIABLE AND QUALITY VEHICLE, AS ADVERTISED BY CHRYSLER. THE CONSUMER STATED OVER THE PAST 12 MONTHS, HER LIFE AS WELL AS THE FRONT SEAT OCCUPANTS WERE ENDANGERED DUE TO THE APPARENT GROSS NEGLIGENCE OF CHRYSLER. UPDATED 12/11/13

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE RACK AND PINION ALONG WITH THE TIE ROD BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 37,600.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. *BF*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE WIRING HARNESS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT AFTER THE REPAIRS THE FRONT PASSENGER POWER WINDOW FAILED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE MASTER SWITCH. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE HVAC CONTROL HEAD WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
I PURCHASED MY CAR (SXT V6) 5/2013 FROM JOE CECCONI'S IN NIAGARA FALLS, NY.. I'VE PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 2008 AVENGER WITH THE 4 CYL. ENGINE AND I AM A DRIVING ENTHUSIAST. I FELT THE CAR SHIFTING ROUGHLY AND I DECIDED TO TAKE THE CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 10/12/2013 BECAUSE I WAS ALSO HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR PULLING HARD TO THE LEFT. THE TECHS ASSURED ME THAT THE CAR WAS ONLY "LEARNING HOW I DRIVE" AND I EXPLAINED THAT MY 2008 DID THE SAME THING. FOR THE PULLING, THEY DID AN ALIGNMENT. WHEN I PICKED THE CAR UP, I DROVE IT AND IT WAS ABOUT 2 WEEKS (10/31/2013) BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO TAKE IT BACK IN DUE TO THE SAME ISSUES; PULLING, SHAKING AND A HARD SHIFTING TRANSMISSION. THE TECH ONCE AGAIN TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT MY CAR WAS WAY OFF ALIGNMENT...EVEN THOUGH IT WAS RECENTLY SERVICED. AROUND 12/5/2013, I TOOK THE CAR BACK ONCE AGAIN AND I SPOKE TO A TECH AROUND 6PM AND HE TOLD ME THAT CHRYSLER USES "SNOWMOBILE TYPE TRANSMISSIONS" AND THAT THEY WILL ALWAYS SHIFT ROUGHLY, HE EXPLAINED THAT THERE WAS NO FIX. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT SERVICE MY CAR AT THAT TIME OF DAY. ON 12/11/2013 THEY DID A WHEEL ROTATION AND AN ALIGNMENT, THE CAR STOPPED PULLING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, PULLING IS VERY SLIGHT NOW, POSSIBLY DUE TO NEEDING ANOTHER ALIGNMENT NOW. I HAVE AN ISSUE WHERE I WILL ALSO BE TRAVELING IN WHAT SHOULD BE THIRD GEAR SHIFTING TO FOURTH (ATTEMPTING TO PICK UP SPEED QUICKLY, USUALLY THRUWAYS) AND THERE ARE TIMES THAT THE CAR WILL NOT PICK UP SPEED QUICKLY, AS IF IT WAS SITTING IN SIXTH GEAR RATHER THAN THIRD OR FOURTH. THIS ISSUE IS NOT ALWAYS PRESENT AND I HAVE DECIDED TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH THE AUTO STICK SINCE THERE IS NO FAILURE IN SHIFTING THIS WAY. THE ROUGH-SHIFTING TRANSMISSION IS SOMETHING THAT CHRYSLER HAS KNOWN ABOUT IN THE DODGE AVENGERS FOR A LONG TIME BUT THEY SEEM TO DISREGARD THEIR AVENGER OWNERS. *JS
FROM DATE OF PURCHASE BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT 2013 DODGE AVENGER 3.6L BLACKTOP EDITION. WITHIN A FEW DAYS I STARTED NOTICING THE CAR WOULD PULL TO THE RIGHT. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE ALIGNMENT LOOKED AT AND FIXED AND THEY SAID THEY RE ALIGNED EVERYTHING AND SHOULD BE FINE. AFTER A WEEK I NOTICED IT STARTED TO PULL TO THE RIGHT AGAIN. AT THAT POINT I TOOK IT INTO A DIFFERENT SHOP WHERE THEY ACTUALLY TOLD ME THAT THEY CAN'T RE ALIGN THE CAR BASED ON THE FACT THAT HOW THE CARS SUSPENSION WAS MANUFACTURED AND DESIGN IS FAULTY TO WHERE THE ALIGNMENT WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO BE CORRECTED AND THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I AM MILITARY AND HAVE MOVED 2 TIMES SINCE THE PURCHASE AND HAVE TAKIN THE CAR TO SEVERAL SHOPS AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THE SAME. THAT THE ALIGNMENT IS AS BEST AS IT CAN GET AND WILL ALWAYS PULL TO THE RIGHT BASED ON THE DESIGN AND HOW IT CAME FROM THE FACTORY. I'VE HAD THE CAR FOR 3 YRS NOW AND HAVE HAD TO BUY BRAND NEW TIRES EVERY YEAR WHILE ROTATING AND BALANCING MY TIRES EVERY 3 MONTHS. THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT AND DODGE WILL NOT TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE FAULT AND HAS NOT PROVIDED ANY HELP IN COMING UP WITH A SOLUTION TO FIX THE SUSPENSIONS ALIGNMENT ALWAYS BEING OFF.

WHEN I TOOK IT TO DODGE THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE IT WASN'T HAPPENING THEN IN FRONT OF THEM. THEN AT 7500 MILES IN JULY 2013 MY BRAKES STARTED MAKING LOUD NOISES. BRAKES, ROADERS, AND PADS...(THEY STATED THEIR WAS SCARES IN THE ROADERS AND IT SHOULDN'T OF BEEN THAT WAY WITH ONLY 7500 MILES) TO THE FRONT AND REAR . LIGHTS WERE IN AUTO POSITION, DROVE APPROX. 6 MILES WITH THEM ON AND RUNNING. MAD A STOP AND SHUT THE CAR OFF, WHEN I RESTARTED IT AND STARTED TO DRIVE AWAY I REALIZED MY LIGHTS WERE NO LONGER ON. HAD TO PUT THEM IN THE REGULAR ON POSITION TO RUN THEM. STOPPED THE CAR MANY TIMES, RESTARTED IT TRYING TO GET THE LIGHTS TO WORK IN AUTO BUT HAD NO LUCK. GOT HOME LET THE CAR SET 30 MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE CAR WITH THE LIGHTS IN AUTO AND THEY CAME ON FINE. WHAT HAPPENS IF THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 60MPH? SAFETY ISSUE!!! I AM VERY LEARY OF THIS CAR AND ITS SAFETY ON MANY DIFFERENT LEVELS! *TR
