CAR SHUT DOWN/POWERED OFF/TURNED OFF ON IT'S OWN, WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 40 MPH IN RESIDENTIAL AREA. THIS IS ABOUT THE 5TH SPECIFIC TIME I REMEMBER. LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL/HARD TO SAFE VEHICLE: HARD TO TURN, STOP, AND RESTART. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON/NO ODB CODES STORED. DEALERSHIP COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING PROBLEM WITH CAR AFTER JULY 7, 2012 EVENT. THEY COULDN'T FIND PROBLEM THIS TIME EITHER AND SENT ME AWAY WITH A PHONE #. THEY TOLD ME TO FILE A CASE WITH CHRYSLER. CASE #23728724 FILED I BELIEVE AFTER JULY 7, 2012 EVENT.
WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AT ABOUT 5-10 MPH, CAR STALLED. RESULTING IN NO POWER STEERING, POOR BRAKES, AND ALMOST GETTING REAR ENDED. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE 40 ON MY WAY TO WORK IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC I WAS IN THE FAST LANE AND HEARD A POP IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON AND I LOST ALL ENGINE POWER. I PULLED THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART IT. WHEN THE CAR WOULDN'T RESTART I PUT ON MY BLINKER AND MOVED TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. I RAN THE CODE WITH MY ONBOARD COMPUTER AND IT TOLD ME THAT THE CAM SHAFT WAS IN THE WRONG POSITION. A ROLL BACK CAME AND TOOK ME TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I LEFT WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. AN HOUR LATER WHILE I WAS AT WORK I GOT A CALL FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT LETTING ME KNOW THAT MY TIMING CHAIN HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND THREATENING ME THAT IF THEY FOUND THAT I WAS ABUSING THE ENGINE THAT THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY AND I WOULD BE PAYING FOR THIS PROBLEM OUT OF POCKET. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 65MPH WHEN A SMALL POP WAS HEARD FROM THE ENGINE BAY. THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED FUNCTIONING AND I LOST ALL POWER TO THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STOP THE VEHICLE ON THE SHOULDER OF THE INTERSTATE WITHOUT INCIDENT. I TRIED RESTARTING THE ENGINE, WHICH JUST CAUSED THE STARTER TO RUN FOR 5+ SECONDS BEFORE TURNING OFF THE START SEQUENCE (PUSH BUTTON START). THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE CAUSE HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE A SNAPPED TIMING CHAIN AND BROKEN PLASTIC CHAIN GUIDE. THIS IS A 2010 5.7L MDS AUTO TRANSMISSION CHALLENGER. DODGE'S RESPONSE IS TO REPLACE THE CHAIN AND GUIDE AND SEE IF THAT ENABLES THE ENGINE TO RUN. THIS IS AN INTERFERENCE FIT ENGINE WHICH WILL MEAN SEVERAL VALVES WILL HAVE STRUCK THE PISTON HEADS AS A RESULT OF THE TIMING CHAIN BREAKING. IN ADDITION, THE VALVE HEADS AND PISTON HEADS MAY HAVE SUSTAIN ADDITIONAL DAMAGE. THE DEALERSHIP HAD RECOMMENDED TO DODGE A COMPLETE ENGINE REPLACEMENT. WHILE, I FIND DODGE'S SOLUTION TO BE WHOLE INAPPROPRIATE, THE FAILURE OF THE CHAIN IS OF MORE CONCERN. DODGE'S INABILITY TO ADEQUATELY AND PREEMPTIVELY ADDRESS THIS SITUATION WILL RESULT IN MORE INSTANCES OF CHALLENGERS BEING DISABLED WHILE TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED ON A CROWDED INTERSTATE, SUCH AS I-75/85 THROUGH ATLANTA. I AM LUCKY MY INCIDENT DID NOT OCCUR DURING HEAVY RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WHICH MAY HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT, INJURY, OR WORSE. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND PRESSED ON THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTON, CAR STALLED OUT AND I HAD TO AVOID TRAFFIC AND GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THIS ALL HAPPENED AT 70 MPH, CAR WAS TOWED TO A DEALER SHIP WHERE A BROKEN TIMING CHAIN WAS DISCOVERED, DODGE HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS FOR OVER TWO YEARS AND THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE A SAFE FIX FOR THIS. *TR
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY HOME LATE FROM WORK AT 65 MPH, WITHOUT WARNING, THE ENGINE STOPPED. NO POWER, NO POWER STEERING, NO POWER BRAKES. PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL TO TRY AND RESTART: WOULD TURN OVER NOT START. HAD TO GET TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER EXPEDITIOUSLY AND WAS STUCK THERE W/ A CONCRETE BARRIER TO MY RIGHT. CAR WOULD NOT START, WITH 18 WHEELER BIG RIGS BLOWING BY ME AT 65 MPH STUCK IN THE CAR. EXTREME DANGER. HAD TO GET IT TOWED 16 MI. TO DEALER AT 8:30 PM. EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE TO ME AND COMMUTERS AROUND ME--DEAD CAR, NO WARNING, WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. PLEASE ADDRESS WITH CHRYSLER CORP. AS THIS IS A KNOWN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE!!! MY 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER R/T ROUGHLY SAT FOR 2-3 WINTER MONTHS, DRIVEN 2-3 TIMES DURING THAT PERIOD. WHILE STARTING IT UP IN FEBRUARY THE CAR STARTED THEN STALLED OUT. I TURNED THE KEY BACK TO OFF AND THEN RESTARTED THE CAR. I WAS GETTING ON TO THE HIGHWAY MAKING A RIGHT TURN. AFTER COMPLETING THE TURN, MERGING ON THE HIGHWAY ABOUT 35-40MPH THE CAR STALLED AND I HAD TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I RESTARTED AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE AS NORMAL FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. ON FRIDAY MARCH 29TH 2013, I STARTED THE CAR AND IT STALLED AGAIN. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND WENT ON MY WAY TO WORK. I WAS MERGING FROM ONE HIGHWAY TO ANOTHER DOING ABOUT 40-45MPH ON THE ONRAMP WHEN THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE MEDIAN WHILE 3 CARS ALMOST REAR ENDED ME SINCE I HAD NO POWER TO THE VEHICLE. I PUT IT IN PARK, RESTARTED THE CAR AND WENT ON MY WAY. THAT SAME MORNING, I WAS GOING SOUTH BOUND ON THE HIGH WAY IN THE MIDDLE OF MOURNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC INTO THE CITY. I WAS GOING BETWEEN 65-75MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IN THE HIGH SPEED LANE AND THE CAR STALLED AGAIN AND LOST ALL POWER TO THE VEHICLE. AFTER COASTING FOR ABOUT 100 YARDS THE CAR SOMEHOW RESTARTED, POWER CAME BACK AND I CONTINUED TO WORK THAT MORNING. I HAVE TAKEN THE CARE TO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP AS OF 3/31 AND IS BEING LOOKED AT TO FIND THE ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE REAR SUSPENSION FAILED AND DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE SUSPENSION HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,088. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY 2010 CHALLENGER RT BURST INTO FLAMES AT AN IDOL. THE ENGINE WIRE HARNESS SHORTED AND CAUGHT FIRE. THANKFULLY I AM A FIREFIGHTER AND SAVED THE VEHICLE. IT HAS LESS THAN 20,000 MILES ON IT. I AM FURIOUS DUE TO THE FACT THAT DODGE WILL NOT COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY WHICH IT SHOULD BE. IT IS A MANUFACTURES FAULT NOT MINE. IT WAS PARKED AND IDLING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND THAT COULD HAVE BEEN HURT. WHAT IF I WAS IN GRID LOCK TRAFFIC NOT A FIREFIGHTER WITH OUT THE PROPER EXTINGUISHER. A LOT OF PEOPLE COULD HAVE BEEN HURT AND THEIR VEHICLES CAUGHT FIRE. I LOVE DODGE. HAVE ALL MY LIFE. I AM BAFFLED THAT THEY WILL DENY COVERAGE. IT SICKENS ME THE LACK OF INTEGRITY AND CARE SHOWN. I HAVE TRIED NUMEROUS TIMES WITH THE DEALERSHIP (MEADOWLAND DODGE OF CARMEL NY) AND CORPORATE. NEITHER ONE COULD EXPLAIN WHY MY VEHICLE WILL NOT BE COVERED. NOR DID THEY HELP TO FIND OUT WHY. JUST A SIMPLE WE ARE NOT COVERING YOU DUE TO OUR FAULTY AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TICKING FIRE BALL TIME BOMB. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CARE. I WILL BE CONTACTING A LAWYER. ITS A $1200 PART I WILL NOT BE PAYING FOR THIS NOR WILL MY INSURANCE AND MY COPAY TO THEM. I DON'T CARE IF I LOOSE MONEY IN A LAWSUIT. IT IS THE SIMPLE PRINCIPLE OF THE MATTER. THIS WHOLE EXPERIENCE WITH DODGE HAS LEFT A VERY BITTER TASTE. THIS IS INEXCUSABLE. ITS LIKE DODGE ONLY CARES ABOUT MAKING MONEY AND NOT ABOUT THEIR LOYAL CUSTOMERS AND THE PUBLIC'S SAFETY OR CONCERN. I NOW HAVE TO PAY FOR A RENTAL OUT OF MY POCKET. I HAVE BEEN WITH OUT MY VEHICLE FOR OVER A MONTH. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO IT. CORPORATE TOOK A MONTH JUST TO COME LOOK AT IT. SIMPLY FURIOUS. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN FULL. TRUSTING THE COMPANY SAVED UP OVER 5 YEARS INCLUDING MY COMBAT DEPLOYMENT PAY. I HAVE BEEN CONSTANTLY LET DOWN BY DODGE AND THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TRAVELING AT 65 MPH ON 4 LANE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. WAS ON A BRIDGE WITH NO SHOULDER. ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER. VEHICLE WAS COASTING AND SLOWING DOWN RAPIDLY. CARS BEHIND ME WERE HITTING THE BRAKES TO AVOID REAR-ENDING MY VEHICLE AS I ATTEMPTED TO MAKE MY WAY TO THE SHOULDER. ONCE ACROSS BRIDGE, I PULLED TO THE SHOULDER. ENGINE WOULD TURNOVER BUT WOULD NOT START. TOWED TO DODGE DEALERSHIP. DEALER DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS BROKEN TIMING CHAIN, WHICH CAUSED CAMSHAFT TO STOP TURNING. THREE EXHAUST VALVES WERE THUS HELD OPEN WHILE THE CRANKSHAFT CONTINUED TURNING, CAUSING PISTONS TO HIT VALVES, BENDING VALVES AND DENTING PISTON TOPS NEAR EDGE OF PISTON. COMPLETE NEW ENGINE REQUIRED. CHRYSLER CORPORATION IS NOT FORTHCOMING WITH AN EXPLANATION FOR FAILURE OR A CORRECTIVE ACTION. THERE IS NO SERVICE BULLETIN PER THE DEALER. I LOOKED ONLINE AT DODGE CHALLENGER USER FORUMS, AND FOUND DOZENS OF OWNERS HAD EXPERIENCED IDENTICAL PROBLEM: AT 35,000-45,000 MILES, DODGE CHALLENGER 5.7 L HEMI WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND MDS (MULTIPLE DISPLACEMENT SYSTEM) CYLINDER CUTOUT ACTIVATED, SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER DUE TO BROKEN TIMING CHAIN. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN FLAW THAT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE NHTSA SHOULD COMPEL CHRYSLER CORPORATION TO DEVELOP A CORRECTIVE ACTION AND RECALL ALL DODGE CHALLENGER VEHICLES WITH 5.7 L HEMI ENGINE IMMEDIATELY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK TO THE FLOORBOARD WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND APPLY THE BRAKES UNTIL THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
ETC LIGHT FLASHES CONSTANTLY AND THE CAR DOESN'T RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL VERY WELL. I'VE RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND MANY COMPLAIN THERE IS NO RIGHT FIX OTHER THAN REPLACING THE ETC. *TR
THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT,BUT I HAD TO HAVE ALL FOUR ROTORS REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME,THEN CAME THE LOUD CLUNK IN THE FRONT END OF CAR,TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT,THEY SAID IT WAS THE TIE RODS,SO THEY WERE REPLACED,NOT LONG AFTER THAT ANOTHER RATTLE FROM FRONT END STARTED,TOOK IT IN AGAIN,THEY SAID IT WAS THE SWAY BARS,SO THEY REPLACED THEM,AND ABOUT A WEEK LATER THE CLUNK WAS BACK,SAME CLUNK AS THE FIRST ONE. THIS WASN'T MAKING THE CLUNK UNTIL THEY G REPLACED THE SWAY BARS. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER,NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME THE UPPER BALL JOINTS ARE BAD, SO HERE GOES ANOTHER 3 OR 4 HUNDRED DOLLARS. 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER SE, RIGHT REAR CV BOOT RIPPED AND LEAKED GREASE ONTO THE TAIL PIPE AND PASSENGER SIDE, AND WHICH CAUSED A FIRE TO THE TRUNK. VEHICLE IS A TOTAL LOSS, NO REPAIRS CAN BE MADE. *TR

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE VEHICLE MADE A POP SOUND AND LOST POWER. I WAS FORCED OFF THE HIGHWAY AS THERE WERE NO SHOULDERS AND HAD TO PUSH THE VEHICLE ACROSS TRAFFIC TO SAFETY. THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FAILED, RESULTING IN THE TIMING CHAIN BREAKING. THIS RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO THE UPPER PORTION OF THE MOTOR, INCLUDING ALL INTAKE AND EXHAUST VALVES, MARRING ON THE PISTONS AND CRACKED HEADS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING NORMALLY GETTING READY TO PULL UP AT A STOP SIGN TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR STALLS WHILE MOVING. POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART IT AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE NO LIGHTS OR NOTHING. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED IT HAS HAPPEN TO MANY PEOPLE. LAWSUIT IS WHAT'S GONE END UP IF THIS PROBLEM ISN'T CORRECTED. *TR
MY 2010 CHALLENGER SRT8 WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION STALLED WHEN MAKING A RIGHT-HAND TURN AT APPROXIMATELY 5:00 PM ON 9/5/12. ENGINE WAS AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE AND THE AC WAS RUNNING. I WAS TRAVELLING AT ABOUT 35 MPH AND BEGAN BRAKING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN INTO A SERVICE STATION. AS I STARTED INTO THE TURN AT ABOUT 10 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED RESULTING IN LOSS OF BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN AND STOP THE CAR WITH HARD BRAKE PRESSURE. NO INDICATOR WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENTS. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED THE CAR, BUT THE TRANSMISSION WAS INOPERATIVE. NEITHER DRIVE OR REVERSE WOULD ENGAGE. I DID NOT NOTICE ANY WARNING OR ALERT LIGHTS INDICATING A MALFUNCTION OR TRANSMISSION ISSUE. I STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN AND THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED AND WORKED NORMALLY. THERE WERE 6800 MILES ON CAR ON 9/5/12. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED 10 DAYS AGO, AND TSBS WERE CHECKED BEFORE THE PURCHASE. NO MENTION OF ENGINE SHUTOFF ISSUES ARE LISTED ON THE NHTSA DATABASE OF TSBS OR RECALLS. I DID NOT CHECK CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS. IF I HAD, AN KNEW TO CHECK ABOUT STALLS, I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. CONSIDERING THE SEVERITY OF THIS ISSUE, THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS DATABASE, AND THE FACT THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE LAST 4 OR MORE YEARS, NHTSA SHOULD INITIATE A DEFECT INVESTIGATION IMMEDIATELY. MORE THAN ONE PERSON HAS STATED ON THIS COMPLAINT FORUM THAT THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING CONDITION AND HOPEFULLY SOMEONE DOESN'T HAVE TO DIE TO GET DODGE TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. TOO LATE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT MY CHALLENGER HAS STALLED WHEN MAKING A RIGHT-HAND TURN; THE FIRST TIME WAS ABOUT A EIGHT MONTHS AGO. YESTERDAY, I SLOWED TO TURN INTO MY OFFICE PARKING LOT. WHEN I WAS MAKING THIS RIGHT-HAND TURN, THE ENGINE STALLED AND I COULD NOT STEER THE CAR - ALMOST HITTING THE CURB. AFTER PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 CHALLENGER RT 4.7L HEMI ON THE CA 15 FREEWAY AT 70 MPH THE CAR SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN. THE WARNING LIGHTS FOR ENGINE AND OIL CAME ON AND I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP. STEERING AND BRAKES REMAINED OPERATIONAL AND LUCKILY I MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER AS THE 15 FREEWAY IS EXTREMELY BUSY AND FAST. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A NEARBY DODGE DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY PLASTIC TIMING CHAIN GUIDES HAD DISINTEGRATED AND CAUSED A BLOWN ENGINE. I NOW QUESTION THE LONGEVITY OF THE NEW REBUILT ENGINE AS SAME TIMING CHAIN ASSEMBLY PARTS WERE USED DURING THE REPAIR. THIS INTERMITTENT STALLING IS BECOMING A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO FURTHER BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED, IF THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ALREADY.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS DOWN AN EXPRESSWAY. SHE EXITED AND WAS APPLYING THE BRAKES AS SHE APPROACHED A STOP SIGN. AS THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 15 MPH, THE CAR ABRUPTLY SHUT OFF, WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHATSOEVER. WHEN THE CAR STALLED, IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER AND BRAKE, AS THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WERE NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL. IN ORDER TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, SHE HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, PLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK, AND THEN HIT THE START BUTTON. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS, AS THERE WERE OTHER MOTORISTS EXITING THE EXPRESSWAY BEHIND HER. THERE ARE MANY OTHER OPEN COMPLAINTS WITH THE NHTSA FOR THE 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER SRT8 - EACH DESCRIBING AN IDENTICAL PROBLEM WITH RANDOM STALLING. ADDITIONALLY, THERE ARE MANY VERY SIMILAR DESCRIPTIONS OF THIS PROBLEM ON DODGE CHALLENGER OWNER GROUP FORUMS. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP AND JUST AS OTHER CHALLENGER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY ALSO ACTED AS THOUGH THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH MANY DOCUMENTED CASES EXIST. I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE, AND LIKE THE DEALERSHIP, THEY REFUSED TO HELP. I SPOKE WITH TWO DIFFERENT REPRESENTATIVES, AND BOTH OF THEM CLAIMED TO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE CHALLENGER STALLING ISSUE, AND REFUSED TO TRANSFER ME TO ANOTHER DEPARTMENT THAT MIGHT BE WILLING TO INVESTIGATE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND APPEARS TO BE VERY COMMON WITH THIS PARTICULAR CAR. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED.
I HAVE A 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER. ON 8-3-2011 I WENT OUT TO GO TO LUNCH AND NOTICED MY REARVIEW MIRROR HAD FALLEN OFF. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT TOOK A PLUG OF WINDSHIELD WITH IT WHEN IT FELL. IT APPEARS THAT THE WINDSHIELD COULD BE DEFECTIVE. I'M AFRAID THE WHOLE WINDSHIELD MAY JUST SHATTER.I HAVE BEEN WAITING 2 WEEKS FOR AN EXPEDITED ANSWER FROM CHRYSLER. AT THIS TIME THEY HAVE NOT BOTHERED TO GIVE ME AN ANSWER. THE DEALERSHIP TOOK PICTURES AND SENT THEM TO CHRYSLER FOR A DETERMINATION. IT'S STARTING TO LOOK LIKE I'M GETTING THE RUN AROUND. *TR
I PURCHASED MY CHALLENGER IN 2011 AND QUICKLY BECAME AWARE THAT THE HEADREST PUT MY HEAD IN A VERY UNCOMFORTABLE PUSHED-FORWARD POSITION. AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS AT MANIPULATING THE SEAT POSITION I CAME UP WITH SOMETHING THAT MADE IT TOLERABLE, BUT ON ANY LONG DRIVE (HALF AN HOUR OR MORE) I GET A STIFF NECK AND HEADACHE. I HAD NO HISTORY OF NECK PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THIS TIME. OVER TIME I SEEM TO HAVE DEVELOPED CHRONIC NECK STIFFNESS, MUSCLE TENSION AND NUMBNESS IN MY FINGERS. MY NECK HAS NOW STARTED CRACKING WHEN I TURN MY HEAD SUDDENLY. IT HAS NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE, BUT IT HAS SERIOUSLY AGGRAVATED THE PROBLEM. THE HEADACHES IT CAUSES ARE SEVERE AND CAN LAST WEEKS. I HAVE NOTICED WHENEVER I TAKE A "VACATION" FROM DRIVING MY CAR FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AT A TIME THE PROBLEM IMPROVES. JUST THIS WEEK, THOUGH, MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP AND I HAVE A RENTAL, A 2013 CHEVY IMPALA. THIS CAR IS AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE REGARDING HEAD RESTRAINT PLACEMENT. NO MATTER WHAT SEAT POSITION I TRY, IT PUSHES MY HEAD FORWARD AT A SHARP ANGLE. BY THE TIME I DRIVE HOME FROM WORK - 20 MINUTES - I AM ALMOST SICK FROM THE DISCOMFORT AND PAIN. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE... RECONSIDER THE LEGISLATION PASSED TO MAKE THESE NEW HEAD RESTRAINTS "SAFER" FOR ME. I MAY NEVER, EVER BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE I SUFFER WHIPLASH INJURIES, BUT I AM CERTAINLY FEELING "WHIPLASH" PAIN. I BELIEVE IT IS CAUSING ME PERMANENT INJURY. THERE MUST BE A COMPROMISE TO MAKE CARS SAFER WITHOUT CHRONIC PAIN ISSUES FOR THEIR DRIVERS. I HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE, SO I KNOW I AM NOT ALONE. I WOULD FIND A NEW CAR, BUT ALL NEWER MODELS I LIKE SEEM TO HAVE THIS DESIGN FLAW. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO, OTHER THAN REMOVING OR MODIFYING MY HEADREST TO TRY AND GET SOME RELIEF. I HAVE A 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER R/T WITH A 5.7 L HEMI AT 35,192 MILES ON CAR. THE CAR HAS A LOUD BANG AND SHUTS OFF,. I TRY TO CRANK MY CAR , BUT NOTHING.. I BOUGHT A 2010 SRT8 DODGE CHALLENGER A FEW WEEKS AGO WITH JUST 50 MILES ON IT. I NOW HAVE APPROXIMATELY 800. ON MY WAY HOME FROM THE DEALER, THE CAR STALLED TWICE, BOTH TIMES WHILE COMING TO A STOP. THE SAME THING HAPPENED YESTERDAY AND TODAY, MAKING IT 4 TIMES IN LESS THAN A MONTH. SIMILAR TO OTHERS, MY DEALER SAID THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF THE STALLING IN THEIR DIAGNOSTICS. 3 OUT OF THE 4 TIMES I WAS IN TRAFFIC, WITH THE OTHER TIME OCCURRING IN A PARKING LOT. THERE WAS NO WARNING WHEN IT HAPPENED. AFTER EACH STALL, I HAD TO PUT THE GEAR IN PARK AND RESTART. THE MOTOR STARTS WITH NO HESITATION AFTER A STALL. THERE ARE DOZENS OF COMPLAINTS. WHO IS GOING TO DO SOMETHING BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED? CURRENTLY, I FEEL THE CARE IS TOO UNSAFE TO HAVE MY WIFE AND KIDS IN THE CAR WHILE DRIVING. *TR
I JUST PURCHASED A 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER SRT8, IT HAS 1324 MILES ON IT. TODAY AS I WAS TURNING IN A ROAD THE CAR ENGINE STALLS! I HAD TO PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND RESTART IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK AND RESTARTED. UPON RESTART, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 15,500. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
