MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 7,000 MILES AND I'VE NOTICE THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WITH A LARGE NUMBER OF SMALL CHIPS. I'M WONDERING IF THE WINDSHIELD IS DEFECTIVE AND WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF SOMETHING LARGER HITS THE GLASS WILL IT BREAK EASIER. SAW LIGHT ON DASH (ETC MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT) AND NEXT MEMORY IS BEING AT HOSPITAL. DURING THE 60-90 SECONDS AFTER I SAW LIGHT WITNESSES WATCHED MY 2013 CHALLENGER R/T ACCELERATE UP TO HIGH 90S AND ULTIMATELY CRASH THROUGH FENCE AND INTO HOUSE. EDR SHOWS STEERING AT TRAFFIC CIRCLE BUT NO ACCELERATOR PEDAL INPUT DURING LAST FIVE SECONDS. ENGINEERS SAY PROBABLE CAUSE IS MALFUNCTION IN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL AND POORLY DESIGNED BRAKE-THROTTLE OVERRIDE.
2013 DODGE CHALLENGER. VEHICLE MALFUNCTION/COMPUTER SHUTDOWN. CAR COMPUTER SYSTEMS CUT OFF LEADING TO HAVING NO POWER AND NO OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. CAUSING TO BE UNSAFE ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING. THE RECALL WAS SENT OUT NOVEMBER 2014 AND THE PART IS STILL UNAVAILABLE. I VISIT THE DEALERSHIP AND THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP STATING THAT NO PARTS HAVE BEEN.SHIPPED TO REPAIR THIS VEHICLE. I WOULD LIKE A FULL REFUND FOR MY DAMAGES, LOSS WAGES AND STRESS. *TR
WAS TRAVELLING ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 55 TO 60 MPH, BEGAN TO GENTLY ACCELERATE TO PASS CAR GOING IN SAME DIRECTION ON FREEWAY. SUDDENLY THE ENGINE RPM INCREASED RAPIDLY, BUT CAR DID NOT SPEED UP, THEN SUDDENLY IT APPEARED TO SLAM INTO GEAR. PERSON TRAVELLING IN PASSENGER SEAT BEGAN TO LOOK ALL AROUND AS HE THOUGHT WE HAD BEEN HIT. AGAIN, THIS DOES NOT OCCUR WITH PEDAL TO THE FLOOR ACCELERATION, JUST NORMAL DRIVING. CAR HAS DONE THIS MANY TIMES BEFORE, IT SLAMS BACK INTO GEAR SO HARD IT STALLS THE ENGINE. ONCE IN A CURVE IT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SPIN OUT.. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO DEALER TWICE BEFORE BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE THE PROBLEM. ON LAST VISIT I TOOK TRANSMISSION GUY FROM DEALER WITH ME AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO DO A SLIGHT VERSION OF WHAT IT DOES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. HE STATED THAT HE WANTED TO CHECK THE K2 VALVE. HE TOLD ME THAT HE HAD 5 VEHICLES THAT HE HAD FOUND PROBLEMS WITH THE SEALS. CAR IS CURRENTLY IN THE DEALER HAVING THIS CHECKED. *TT

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE CHALLENGER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, SHIFTED INTO SPORT MODE AND ENGAGED THE POWER SHIFTER SWITCH WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AT THE POINT OF IMPACT. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS ERRONEOUSLY DEPLOYED APPROXIMATELY TWO MINUTES AFTER THE IMPACT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A NECK INJURY AND THE DRIVER OF THE SECOND VEHICLE SUSTAINED BACK AND NECK INJURIES. BOTH PARTIES WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT OF INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,300.
MY SON WAS DRIVING THIS CAR GOING BACK TO COLLEGE ON THE I 49. HE NOTICED SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE TRUNK. HE STOPPED, OPENED THE TRUNK AND IT WAS ON FIRE. LUCKILY HE HAD A BOTTLE OF WATER AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. IN THE PROCESS HE BURNT HIS HAND (MINOR BURN). HE CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHO SHOWED UP AND TOLD HIM THAT THE BATTERY OR WIRING HAD SHORTED OUT AND CAUSED A BATTERY MELTDOWN AND A FIRE IN THE TRUNK. HIS CLOTHES AND SPEAKERS WERE BURNT. THE CAR IS NOW SITTING AT THE DODGE DEALERSHIP IN ALEXANDRIA LA. DODGE WAS CONTACTED AND SO FAR HAS DENIED ANY MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THIS CAR IS ONE YEAR OLD. I KNOW THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS TYPE VEHICLE LAST YEAR. THIS MAY BE RELATED. I AM AFRAID THAT EVEN WHEN REPAIRED THIS MAY HAPPEN AGAIN. SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON FEBRUARY 2013, WE NOTICED THAT THE FUEL INDICATOR WOULD NEVER SHOW A FULL TANK OF GAS. IT WOULD STOP AT 3/4. HOWEVER, WHEN YOU TURN OFF THE ENGINE, ESPECIALLY AROUND A 1/2 OF A TANK, THE GAUGE WOULD REGISTER 1/4 TANK. ON 4/29/2013, MY SPOUSE NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WE DECIDED TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THE ONBOARD COMPUTER SHOWED 68 MILES TO EMPTY AND WE NEEDED TO TRAVEL 30 MILES. AS SOON AS WE ENTERED THE FREEWAY, THE CAR STALLED AND WOULD NOT START. IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. DEALER REPLACED THE SENDING OR (ASCENDING) UNIT. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 1275 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. ON 1 MAY 2013 WE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND MY WIFE DROVE IT HOME, I FOLLOWED IN A CHASE VEHICLE. THAT NIGHT SHE COMPLAINED OF HEADACHES(NOT NORMAL FOR MY SPOUSE). THE NEXT MORNING, 2 MAY 2013, I OPEN THE DOOR OF THE VEHICLE TO PLACE SAFETY SEATS AND WAS OVERCOME BY THE NOXIOUS FUEL FUMES. MY WIFE DECIDED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO WORK AND COULD NOT MAKE IT THERE DUE TO THE FUMES GETTING WORSE. SHE PULLED OVER AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEIR FIX WAS TO USE ODOR NEUTRALIZER WHICH NOW RENDERS THE VEHICLE UNSERVICEABLE. ONE CANNOT STAND THE SMELL. MY SPOUSE FEARS THEY CARE MAY COMBUST AT THE FIRST SIGN OF AN OPEN FLAME AND IS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. DEALER WILL NOT ENTERTAIN ANY IDEAS OF CHECKING O-RING SEALS. *TR

I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE CAR DEALER (DARCARS CHRYSLER JEEP OF ROCKVILLE, MD) THAT I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE FROM ON 19 MARCH 2013. I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS RECALLED FOR A SAFETY ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS THE ENGINE STARTER POSITIVE TERMINAL ON MY VEHICLE COULD SHORT TO GROUND AND CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. AN ELECTRICAL FIRE COULD OCCUR AT ANY TIME REGARDLESS WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING OR IS IN THE KEY OFF POSITION. AS OF 22 MARCH 2013, THERE IS NO FIX ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER. FURTHERMORE, THEY (THE DEALERSHIP) CAN NOT GIVE ME A DATE WHEN I WILL RECEIVE MY AUTOMOBILE BACK. *TR
I AM WONDERING WHO DODGE IS LYING TO NHTSA OR THE CONSUMER. I GOT A PHONE CALL FROM DODGE CUSTOMER CARE ON 3/18/2013. A CUSTOMER CARE PERSON ADVISED TO STOP DRIVING THE CHALLENGER AS THERE WAS A POSSIBLE ISSUE WITH FIRE HAZARD. DODGE INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO FIX, BUT HAD TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP EVERY DAY AND THEY INDICATE THAT NO FIX HAS BEEN ISSUED BY CHRYSLER AND DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE TO FIND A FIX. I CALL THE CUSTOMER CARE CENTER AND THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THE FIX IS OR TIME FRAME. I LOOKED AT YOUR WEBSITE AND THE RECALL NOTICE INDICATES THAT THE WIRING TO THE STARTER IS GOING TO BE REPLACE. THIS IS NOT WHAT THE DODGE CUSTOMER CARE TOLD ME OR THE DEALERSHIP. EITHER FRAUD IS GOING ON HERE OR CHRYSLER IS TRYING TO COVER THEMSELVES. I NEED AN ANSWER TO FIX MY CAR. *TR
