EVERYTIME I CHECK MY OIL THERE IS NEVER ANY OIL IN THERE. I AM CONSTANTLY HAVING TO PUT OIL IN MY CAR. THE OTHER NIGHT I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR JUST STARTED SHAKING. THE AIR AND HEAT STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A TUNE UP AND THAT MY #2 SPARK PLUG HAD BLOWN. I THEN HAD THE TUNE UP AND #2 SPARK PLUG CHANGED AND MY CAR STILL IS NOT RUNNING RIGHT. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC WHO BASICALLY LAUGHED AT ME AND TOLD ME THE 2.7 ENGINE WERE HORRIBLE. HE TOLD ME I HAD OIL SLUDGE AND THAT I MIGHT AS WELL NOT EVEN BOTHER GETTING MY CAR FIXED. I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THIS CAR A YEAR YET. DODGE NEEDS TO REPLACE ALL 2.7 ENGINES. *TR
OUTER TIE ROD ENDS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT 76,000 MILES. ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC, TIE ROD ENDS SHOULD LAST TO AT LEAST 150,000 MILES. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR DODGE CHARGERS BEFORE 100,000 MILES. *TT
2008 DODGE CHARGER CATCHES ON FIRE WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE. NO SENSOR LIGHTS OR WARNING SIGNS GIVEN. THE FIRE APPARENTLY STARTED AT THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF THE HOOD. IN LESS THAN 10 MINUTES, THE FIRE SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE WIRING SYSTEM OF THE CAR WHICH CAUSED THE ENTIRE CAR TO ENGULF IN FLAMES. FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. CHRYSLER WAS NOTIFIED AND DECIDED TO INVESTIGATE THE SITUATION. CHRYSLER STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DISCLOSE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THE ONLY RESPONSE WE RECEIVED FROM CHRYSLER WAS AN APOLOGY. *TR

MY 2008 DODGE CHARGER HAS HAD MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. TWO MONTHS AGO THE PASSENGER WINDOW WOULDN'T ROLL DOWN THEN IT WORKED AGAIN A FEW DAYS LATER, APPROX 2 WEEKS AGO I WAS TURNING A CORNER AND THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF. IT RESTARTED WITHOUT PROBLEMS. TODAY, THE STEREO SYSTEM WONT COME ON AND MY WARRANTY WENT OUT 9 DAYS AGO. *KB

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED TWICE WITHIN A THREE YEAR PERIOD; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
I HAVE A 2008 DODGE CHARGER, WHICH HAS HAD SEVERAL ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS TO OCCUR SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN AUG., 2008. 2 OF THE PROBLEMS COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY IF I HAD WRECKED WHEN THE STERRING WHEEL LOCKED OR JUST THE OTHER DAY THE FAN BLADE MOTORS LOCKED UP AND BURSTED MY RADIAOTR. THIS VEHICLE IS TOO NEW TO HAVE SO MANY DEFECTS, ESPECIALL LINKING TO ELECTRICAL MATTERS THAT ARE NOT RECOGNIZED BY THE POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY, WHICH I FEEL SHOULD HAVE ALL BEEN COVERED THE THE WARRANTY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A TIMEFRAME FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE KEY FOB PROVIDED WOULD ONLY RANDOMLY OPEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND FAILED TO OPEN THE OTHER DOORS. ALSO, THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE TRUNK DUE THE KEYS NOT BEING PROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS STILL WAITING FOR THE CORRECT IGNITION SWITCH TO BE INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,138.
THE TIE ROD ENDS IN THIS CAR HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND NOW IM GOING IN FOR A THIRD TIME. MY MECHANIC EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THESE CARS ARE KNOWN FOR THEIR TIE ROD ENDS BREAKING. I FEEL IT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO..I HAVE BEEN TO ONLINE FORUMS FOR THIS VEHICLE AND ITS MENTIONED A LOT ON THERE TOO. IF A PART IS DEFECTIVE THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE RECALLING THESE VEHICLES. *TR

IM SUBMITTING THIS STATEMENT FOR EVERYONE THAT HAS HAD THE UNFORTUNATE PLEASURE OF OWNING A DODGE VEHICLE. ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF AGO I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND MY 2008 DODGE CHARGER JUST DIED ON ME. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE AS A RESULT OF OIL SLUDGE BUILDUP. I SUBMITTED ALL MY MAINTENANCE RECORDS SHOWING THAT I WAS GETTING MY MAINTENANCE DONE AND THEY CAME BACK DENYING MY WARRANTY CLAIM. I FEEL LIKE CHRYSLER IS JUST A BIG RIP-OFF WITH THEIR WARRANTIES CAUSE ITS FUNNY THE SERVICE LADY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NO OIL SHOWING ON THE DIPSTICK AND I HAD MY MECHANIC TO LOOK AT MY CAR A DAY BEFORE I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS 3QTS IN THERE SO SOMETHING SOUNDS FISHY TO ME. I'VE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE AND IM NOT ALONE AND THEY REALLY NEED TO CHECK INTO THIS PROBLEM BUT ITS VERY CONVENIENT FOR THEM TO DENY HAVING TO REPLACE THEIR DEFECTIVE ENGINES. I HAVE 2 DODGE CHARGERS AND WILL BE GETTING RID OF BOTH ASAP. *KB

AS THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN TO THE DEALER, THE HOSE SPLIT IN HALF, CAUSING COOLANT TO SPEW ALL OVER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT AS A RESULT OF THE HOSE SPLITTING, THE AIR CONDITIONER SYSTEM WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
DURING LOW SPEED TURNS TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT (LESS THAN 30 MPH) DECELERATING NO BRAKES, THE CAR WILL STALL. THIS HAS OCCURRED THREE TIMES WITH DIFFERENT DRIVERS. DEALERSHIPS CAN FIND NO DEFECTS. *TR

I OWN A 2008 DODGE CHARGER, I RECENTLY STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WHEN THE DS POWER SEATS STOPPED WORKING FOLLOWED BY THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS. TOOK IT TO DODGE COUNTRY IN KILLEEN, TX WHERE I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MAN THAT THE WIRES HAD MELTED TOGETHER NEAR THE FUSE BOX IN TRUCK AND THAT IT WAS A FIRE HAZARD. HE COULD NOT TELL ME WHERE THE PROBLEM ORIGINATED, BUT INFORMED ME TO CALL MY INSURANCE CO. AND FILE A CLAIM WITH THEM. HE SAID AND I QUOTE "TELL THEM YOU SPILLED SOMETHING IN THE TRUCK, GET YOUR HUSBAND TO AGREE ON IT, AND THEY SINCE THEY INSURE STUPIDITY THEY WILL LIKELY COVER THIS, LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU DECIDE SO WE CAN ALL HAVE THE SAME STORY & I WILL TELL THEM WHAT YOU WANT!". THAT NIGHT I WENT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP TO PICK UP MY CAR CHARGER OUT OF MY CAR AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW BOTH SEATS ARE WORKING AS WELL AS MY LOCKS! I DID CALL MY INSURANCE CO. AS WELL AS FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER AND INFORMED BOTH PARTIES WHAT THE SERVICE GUY TOLD ME TO DO. WHEN BOTH DENIED MY CLAIM I CALLED DODGE COUNTRY AND INFORMED THEM I WOULD BE PICKING UP MY CAR. WHEN I GOT MY RECEIPT WITH DIAGNOSTIC REPORT IT STATED THE "FUSE IN PDC MELTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED" NOT WIRING HARNESS LIKE I WAS TOLD ORIGINALLY. GOT IN MY CAR AND SEAT WAS MOVED ALL THE WAY UP TO STEERING WHEEL AND NOT WORKING AGAIN!!! THESE PEOPLE DO BAD BUSINESS! THEY FIXED IT AND WHEN I REFUSED TO PAY THE $4500 THEY WANTED TO REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS THE UNFIXED IT! MAKES ME BELIEVE THAT IT WASN'T THE WIRES IN THE FIRST PLACE. THEY ALSO BENT THE FUSES IN PDC FROM PULLING THEM OUT WITH PLIERS! DODGE HAS YET TO RETURN A PHONE CALL! CAR STILL INOP!! *TR

WHEREAS, I HAD RAN OFF THE ROAD IN A WHILE AREA HITTING POLE. MY AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED. THIS IS A LAW ENFORCEMENT VEHICLE THE OFFICER STARTED IT TO LET IT WARM UP. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN RUNNING FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES WHEN HE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE WINDOWS. THE FIRE ORIGINATED IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND DESTROYED THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE DASH, HEAD LINER, STEERING WHEEL, SEAT AND WINDSHIELD. THE REST OF THE INTERIOR HAS HEAVY SMOKE DAMAGE VEHICLE IS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR

I HAVE A 2008 DODGE CHARGER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I WAS WONDERING WHY. I TOOK THE CAR INTO AUTOZONE TO GET THE SCAN VIA OBDII, THE SCAN CAME UP WITH CODE P1004 WHICH IS A DEALER CODE. I IMMEDIATELY RESEARCHED THE CODE AND FOUND THAT IT WAS DUE TO MY "SHORT RUNNER VALVE" AND MY INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE DEALERSHIP (DARCARS DODGE NEW CARROLLTON MD) TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT A RECALL EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW IT IS OUT OF HAND AND ALSO THAT THE FEDERAL EMISSIONS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THIS ALTHOUGH IT SEEMS TO BE LINKED TO EMISSIONS. THIS IS VERY CONFUSING TO ME AND ALSO BAFFLING. CHRYSLER TOLD ME THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED THE NEXT DAY AFTER THEY CALLED TO CONFIRM INFORMATION ON FRIDAY OCT.15. I NEVER RECEIVED THAT CALL. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE IDENTICAL FAILURES WITH THE REAR BRAKES. THE REAR BRAKES WERE NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE. THIS PROBLEM BEGAN SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED (IN 2010) THIS 60,000 MILE ONE-OWNER CAR A 2008 DODGE CHARGER 5.7L RWD POLICE PACKAGE. THE KEY FAILS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION KEY SWITCH. THE KEY SWITCH CANNOT BE TURNED TO THE "OFF" POSITION TO BE REMOVED AND STAYS STUCK IN THE "ACCESSORY" POSITION. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE KEY MUST BE LEFT IN THE IGNITION SWITCH OPENING THE POSSIBILITY TO VEHICLE THEFT OR ANY CHILD OR OTHER PASSERBY MAKING ENTRY INTO THE VEHICLE AND STARTING & DRIVING AWAY. LEAVING THE KEY "ON" IN THE ACCESSORY POSITION SUBSEQUENTLY DRAINS THE BATTERY, AFTER ONLY A MATTER OF HOURS THE BATTERY IS DEAD AND LEAVES THE OWNER REPEATEDLY STRANDED. LEAVING THE ACCESSORY CIRCUITS ENERGIZED FOR LONG PERIODS ALSO INCREASES THE CHANCES OF A VEHICLE FIRE. I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL DODGE DEALER IN LUMBERTON NJ, THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A DEFECTIVE WIN MODULE. I PAID FOR THE REMOVAL & INSTALLATION OF A NEW WIN MODULE AND THE CAR EXHIBITS THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AS BEFORE. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT VERIFIED THAT IT'S STILL OCCURRING AND HAD TO ARGUE WITH THEM FOR A REFUND ONLY TO BE GIVEN DEALER CREDIT. THE DEALER THEN SHOWED ME A DODGE ENGINEER'S SERVICE BULLETIN DESCRIBING THIS ISSUE PERFECTLY. OFTEN THESE SYMPTOMS ARE SYMPTOMATIC OF A WIN MODULE BUT IF THE WIN IS NOT AT FAULT, DODGE STATES THAT THE "ESM" MODULE (ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE) IS AT FAULT AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE ESM IS LOCATED ON THE STEERING COLUMN IN A 2008 DODGE CHARGER 5.7L RWD POLICE PACKAGE CAR AND IS CONNECTED TO THE COLUMN SHIFT GEAR SELECTOR. THE DODGE DEALER STATES THE ESM MODULE IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR REPLACEMENT AND THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN MUST BE REPLACED DUE TO THE PART NOT AVAILABLE FOR SALE SEPARATELY. EVERY OTHER MODULE FOR THE CHARGER IS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE EXCEPT THE ESM AND DODGE SERVICE WANTS $2400 TO NEEDLESSLY REPLACE THE ENTIRE COLUMN. *JB

AFTER RECEIVING RECALL 08V583000 INVOLVING POLICE VEHICLES WITH STEERING COLUMN MOUNTED SHIFTER ON 11/18/2008, VEHICLE REPEATEDLY HAS PROBLEMS ENGAGING GEARS. OFFICERS DRIVING THIS VEHICLE PLACE THE SHIFTER INTO DRIVE AND LEARN THAT IT HAS NOT ENGAGED AND IS INSTEAD IN NEUTRAL. IT OFTEN STARTLES THE OFFICERS, WHO ARE FOCUSED ON MAKING RAPID SHIFT CHANGES IN ORDER TO PURSUE VIOLATORS OR NEGOTIATE TERRAIN. OFFICERS FIND THAT THEY OFTEN NEED TO PUSH THE STEERING COLUMN SHIFTER TOWARD THE DASH TO PROPERLY ENGAGE THE APPROPRIATE GEAR, CAUSING A LAPSE IN DRIVING SKILLS AND A LOSS OF FOCUS ON VEHICLE OPERATION. THE LATEST FAILURE OCCURED IN THE MIDDLE OF A CROWDED INTERSECTION AS THE PATROL OFFICER WAS ATTEMPTING TO PURSUE A VIOLATOR. VEHICLE SHOWED IT WAS IN REVERSE WHEN IT WAS BETWEEN REVERSE AND NEUTRAL. I HAD TO HAVE THE OUTER TIE RODS REPLACED ON MY CAR WHICH ONLY HAD 26,036 MILES ON IT, LUCKILY, THIS WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. SINCE 7/2010, I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MULTIPLE VARIOUS FRONT END SUSPENSION AND STEERING COMPONENTS REPLACED, NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *5/1/11 SWAY BAR LINKS & OUTER TIE RODS *3/2/12 OUTER TIE ROD END/CONTROL ARM AND BALL JOINT *11/1/12 OUTER TIE ROD *11/27/13 SWAY BAR LINKS *12/10/14 CONTROL ARM/STABILIZER BAR BUSHING. I'VE HAD TO HAVE MY TIRES REPLACED 3 TIMES DUE TO EXCESSIVE/UNEVEN WEAR CAUSED BY REOCCURRING, EXPENSIVE SUSPENSION ISSUES. I PURCHASED A 2008 DODGE CHARGER IN THE FIRST MONTH IT WAS HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES WERE I WOULD LOOSE POWER TO THE DASH BOARD AND THE LIGHTS THEN THE CAR WOULD JUST SHUT OFF. I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR AND THEY REPLACED THE RELAY. THE CAR CONTINUED TO HAVE THESE ISSUES NOT FREQUENTLY ENOUGH WERE THE DEALERSHIP WOULD LET ME BRING IT IN. 12 MONTHS GO BUY AND I BRING IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP ANYWAY AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT REGENERATE THE PROBLEM. 2 MONTHS LATER THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE FROM THE TRUNK AND BURNED TO THE GROUND. THE FIRE MARSHALL DID NOT DO A FORENSIC INVESTIGATION BUT SAID IT OBVIOUSLY LOOKS TO HAVE STARTED WITH THE BATTERY AND I AGREED WITH THE AMOUNT OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS I HAD WITH THIS CAR. THERE WAS NO AFTER-MARKET ANYTHING ON THIS CAR IT WAS ALL STOCK. DODGE WILL NOT HELP OR RELEASE ANY INFO TO ME IN REGARDS TO THE PROBLEM. EVERYDAY WHILE DRIVING MY 2008 DODGE CHARGER AT ANY RATE OF SPEED, WITH MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND ATTEMPTING TO GO FASTER OR IF I AM KEEPING THE VEHICLE AT A STEADY SPEED, THE VEHICLE FEELS AS IF IT WANTS TO HESITATE OR STALL OUT. THE VEHICLE ALSO HAS A HARD SHIFT WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE, REVERSE, NEUTRAL OR PARK AND IT FEELS AS IF THE ENGINE WILL DROP OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DODGE DEALER, DRIVEN AND THEY STATED THAT THE HARD SHIFT WAS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN IN FOR THE HESITATION THIS WEEKEND. *TR
